On March 2024, I had my veloster towed to a certified Hyundai service dealer because it suddenly began losing power, the oil light came on, the engine light flickered, and it began making a whining noise, and then the engine died and wouldn’t crank again. It took them weeks to diagnose it, and they told me the turbo was out in it, and quoted me an absurd amount to replace it. I had the turbo replaced, as well as some gaskets, the coils and spark plugs. It ran fine after that until June 2025 when the oil and check engine light came on and the engine died again while we were coming home from a vacation, 2 hours south of where we live in a tiny town that had no dealership or rental company within 100 miles. We found a small mechanic who said it needed a lower fuel pump. He put one in it and we got back on the road, but it still wasn’t running as well as it should. It don’t have quite as much power, but no dash lights came on. When I got home I took it to another local certified Hyundai service dealer, who said it needed new coils and spark plugs again, so they replaced them. Again it ran fine for a while until the day after thanksgiving this year, 11/25, when the oil light came on again at the end of my road. I took it to another local certified auto parts store who read the codes and found no suggested fix. No certified dealers were open that day, so I took it to Pep Boys where the engine light came on when I pulled in, and who said they thought it needed new timing solenoids, and put them in it. When they finished, they drove it and told me they felt like the turbo was going out and advised I take it to the dealer again. I had it towed to a certified Hyundai service dealer on Monday 12/01/25. They diagnosed it as needing a new turbo (again), a lower oil pan, and an oil switch. Quoted $3550. Over a week later today they told me that after putting it all in and tiring it on that the oil light came back on. They have now diagnosed it as needing an oil pump.

My vehicle has been burning through oil for 2 years now. It started with me having to get oil changes every 3 months, then 2, then 1, now I am forced to go get oil top offs every 2-3 weeks or the check oil light comes on and car drives very rough. I have been reaching out and opening cases with Hyundai and working with my local dealer for a year now and still nothing is being resolved. I need my engine replaced and they refuse, wanting me to jump through hoops and doing various tests only to tell me that even after I pay thousands for the tests, there’s no guarantee they can replace the engine. This is a known issue when you search online and thousands of people’s Hyundais are being affected. This vehicle is less than 10 years old it should not be having these issues. Hyundai is at fault for creating faulty vehicles and they are refusing to do anything about it.

I am going to answer each point one by one for clarity. 1.) Mass oil consumption from bad piston rings, and yes it is available. 2.) I was driving after work one night and my oil pressure light was blinking red. Needed to immedelty pull to the side and have someone get me oil to top off. This was when I first found out about this issue. 3.) Yes as it is a constant problem and I've had two different mechanics look and confirm that my engine is essentially toast. 4.) No, not yet as I am not willing to pay an absurd amount of money for a dealer inspection unless they truely mean well with it. 5.) Other than the red oil pressure light I mentioned eariler, no. This was Augest 12th. Bought the car from the dealer April 18th.

The "touch screen" in the car has warped from heat and no longer responds to touch. Many features and settings for the car are no longer available. Not sure if it's a safety issue; it would depend on the car model and which settings are managed through the touch screen. Since I can't access the settings, I don't know what features or settings are now inaccessible, so I'm reporting the affected equipment as a precaution.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Veloster turbo and my AC started making a weird noise coming from my AC controller, I opened and my climate control resistor was burned and smelling and I’m worried about my car getting on fire and I seen this is a common problem in velosters

I own a 2016 Hyundai Veloster, and the Manual heater control unit only works on certain numbers. I haven’t had it checked out. But I first noticed it when I purchased the car. Sometimes the heater or air will just turn off. I know there was a recall for the same models but for 2015.
Nov 13, 2021
The engine light began flashing and it was hard to drive without the car loosing speed like it was stalling out when I pressed the gas it did not get power. It smelled like burnt gas or oil and fumes where coming from under the hood. I have had it for 2 months. When I took it to autozone the code read P1326. I dont understand why other same year make and models are recalled and not this one. I will not be able to drive it because other same make and model recalls say there is potential for fire.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH and shifting to a higher gear, he attempted to depress the clutch pedal; however, the pedal was flat against the floorboard. The contact had to lift the clutch pedal with his foot several times to get the pedal back to position to respond to shifting gear. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was slow to respond to the accelerator when the contact attempted to accelerate. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was no issue with the clutch pedal. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the failure of the clutch pedal was intermittent. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

- When it shifts from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd gear, the RPMs will keep going up until I take my foot off the gas. So if I need to merge onto a highway quickly and it stalls in one gear, it can go up to 6k or 7k RPMs without shifting. I never let it get past it because I take my foot off the gas to let it shift because I'm afraid it will blow something. - When in automatic and at a stop, if you go, it will sometimes rev up a little high before shifting and also pull a lot faster versus other times when it shifts normally. To keep me on my toes, it will sometimes do the opposite and not accelerate very well at all. Almost like I press the gas and nothing happens until it's pressed all the way and then it will go. - The tachometer will lag on what RPM the engine is actually on. So you'll know it's clearly at 3k but it will only read on 1k for a few seconds before quickly going up to what it's supposed to be on. - There's also a knocking noise when my car is idling for a little while. It's every 5 to 10 minutes there's a loud knock coming from the engine. - I also understand when driving slow, for example like a drive-thru, DCT don't typically like that. But when I am in a line like that or traffic, it will stutter as if it's about to stall or shut off completely. And not like a light shake, it was very noticeable that everyone felt as if it was going to sputter and turn off. With these multiple issues, it makes me and my passengers feel extremely unsafe and it's concerning that anytime I've taken it to the dealership it's shrugged off by saying the DCT transmissions sometimes "act weird". I'm not sure how that's an answer to something that is pretty dangerous.

Unknown Regular oil changes, cranked my car up one morning and it started knocking, I have been in a rental for 2 weeks now and paying out pocket as a single mother in grad school. The dealers excuse of not diagnosing the car sooner, is that their schedule is busy after arguing with the extended warranty company about my coverage. I booked their next soonest appointment to be told we'll see if we can get it looked at that day. I believe they're hiding the fact that my bricks falls under recall 198 and do not want to admit it.

Unknown Vehicle stalls and misfires
Aug 28, 2022
Cruising on freeway ~70 mph when car starts slowing due to lack of power- for unknown reason car went into "limp mode", with turbo boost pressure and power cut off, barely enough power to keep car at 60 mph in order to make it to freeway exit to pull off. This could have caused serious collision. Turned off car, let it sit 1 min, turned it back on, and problem seemed to go away. No Check Engine Light, no OBD2 codes. Limp mode sometimes occur during harsh shifts but releasing throttle and reengaging usually fixes it but this time needed to shut off the car. Has been reported to dealer but they can't reproduce consistently and no CEL/codes so they won't try to find a fix. But losing power for no apparent reason on freeway definitely dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V746000 (Engine) and the dealer-installed a software update containing a new Knock Sensor Detection System; however, while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle began to stall. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. Then, the vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist who diagnosed that the transmission was in great condition; however, the engine was not communicating with the transmission. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed a transmission relearn; however, the vehicle was sluggish while accelerating from a complete stop. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that there were metal shavings in the engine oil, the engine was knocking loudly, and there was a significant amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust. The dealer reset the Knock Sensor Detection System software. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the vehicle would not exceed 45 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Hyundai of Yuma (1125 E 32nd St, Yuma, AZ 85365) who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The second dealer sent a diagnostic report to the manufacturer and requested a new engine; however, the manufacturer denied the request due to the vehicle having a salvage title. The contact stated that only the rear end of the vehicle was reconstructed as the vehicle was involved in a crash. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 58,900.

AIR BAGS

Greetings, I went in for an oil change and was notified that my car airbags did not work and/or have not worked for an indeterminant time. The dealership ordered a part which still has not arrived. It’s been nearly 3 weeks, and I am unable to collect my car unless I pay $2,000. I’ve been paying out of pocket for a rental during that time, and as a college student have missed some classes. Currently, my car is still at the dealership unable to be driven safely. They say the seat sensor went bad and disabled my entire airbag system. There’s no telling how long my family and I have been at great risk of injury or death driving this car. I’m afraid to pay or pickup the vehicle as I’m unsure if it’s safe. I have been denied warranty coverage from corporate Hyundai and from the dealership. Im not sure how to proceed.

AIR BAG SENSOR IN CUSHION ON PASSENGER SEAT DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. VEHICLE IS EITHER IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. LIGHT COMES ON FOR A WEEK AND THEN GOES AWAY FOR MONTHS AND COMES BACK AGAIN. MILEAGE SINCE I NOTICE IT WAS 48000. HYUNDAI SAID THE SEAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS MAKES NO SENSE THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED ESPECIALLY SINCE THE SEATS IN MY CAR HAVE NEVER BEEN TOUCHED OR REPLACED THEY HAVE THE SAME SEATS THAT CAME WITH THE CAR. SO THIS FAULTY SYSTEM SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE COMPANY. NOTICED IN THE COMPLAINTS I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUES SEEMS LIKE IT.

I have done a lot of research on my car when it started having issues with major oil burning/consumption (I took it in because I had an engine recall and they did their testing and said no recall for my car). And since 2021, I haven't had a consistent working heater and a/c because a wiring issue. Which I have spoke to hyundai on a few occasions and told me "you just need a new hvac control head unit" which I had already replaced. The harness connector was fried, had that replaced by someone I know. May be not to standards, but it would usually work with most vehicles. I have replaced the head unit 3 times now, and the wiring harness 3 times. And it eventually fries the knob control for my blower speed. I have an 16 month old child and its a safety issue. The wires keep frying (my resistor has been replaced a few times thinking that was the issue), telling me the wires are not capable of the output for something so simple. In my research, this has happened to thousands of other velosters around the year of mine. And one was a mechanic and said it is a safety issue. It can catch on fire, and this should be a recall on all cars. I've also read how hyundai has told people with recalls, their cars were fine (after testing) then the engine blows and they're incompetent and so not care to help its consumers. Please help me somehow?

Mar 19, 2021
THE PLUG BEHIND THE AC CONTROL PANEL (THE BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH) HAS MELTED BECAUSE THE CURRENT ISN'T BEING CONDUCTED PROPERLY. THIS ISSUE STARTED MONTHS AGO WHEN I NOTICED THE AC CONTROL KNOB WAS GETTING STUCK & STOPPED WORKING ON THE NUMBERS. THIS LAST WEEK I SMELT SMOKE COMING FROM THE AC CONTROL PANEL, WHICH IS WHAT LED ME TO REMOVE THE CONSOLE TO SEE BEHIND. APPARENTLY, THIS IIS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT OF THE 2012-2016 VELOSTERS & SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD THEIR DASH SET ON FIRE BEFORE. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY IF THE CAR WERE EVER TO SET FIRE BECAUSE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW & I WERE DRIVING. I, & OTHER PEOPLE, COULD DIE FROM THIS. HYUNDAI HAS NEVER ISSUED A RECALL OR ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where diagnostic test codes indicated a timing chain failure and other diagnostic test codes were retrieved. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed due to low engine oil, and the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that 2 quarts of oil was added to the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the engine was overfilled with oil. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the failure was related to the knock sensor. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer, Great Lakes Hyundai of Dublin (2441 Billingsley Rd, Columbus, OH 43235), where it was diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that no engine failure was found; however, the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power, went into LIMP Mode, and failed to exceed 5 MPH. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 35-40 MPH. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The contact stated that the vehicle had become undrivable. Shortly after finishing major repairs at my local dealer, I started to expirience, what I believe, now, to be a "low-end engine knock". Engine knock can usually occur due to oil starvation, where the connecting rod bearings are worn and debris enters the engine. So, I brought my car back to the dealer to ask them what this strange noise was I was hearing; I asked them if it could be the brand new clutch, or their equipment they left in the engine bay for me. They gave me an answer and it was to not drive the car anymore. One employee of the dealer even suggested "wrapping it around a telephone pole"... They told me what the repairs would cost and I had not qualified for a warranty extention so I left. I acquired a definitive diagnostic elsewhere and was shown the gravity of the situation. My oil filter had caught pieces of the engine and it was dubbed an engine knock. This incident took me completely by surprise. I regularly changed my oil and never saw my levels get so low that they would be considered empty. I have only owned the car for 5 years and it being only 8 years old, I was hoping to enjoy the driving expirience for years to come. That sensation has been replaced with apprehension and possible engine fire... how do I afford to buy a new car every 5 years if I can't drive the one I have now??

I took my car to a dealer called Lee Johns in Everett WA for 2 recalls, but they told me I had problems with my catalytic converter and they replaced it under warranty at no cost to me. After 2 days they gave me the car and it did not work more than 2 hours and the engine light started blinking and from one moment to another it reduced the speed to 20 miles per hour. I called the dealer and they told me to take them, but to this day they only replied that the car warranty would only cover 55% for the replacement of the damaged engine. They gave me the defective car after they changed the catalyst and I gave them a working car that now doesn't work and they only tell me that I have to pay 4000usd so that they can repair it and they haven't given me any report of the engine revision because It failed, after they changed the catalyst, only telling me that I should pay and then make a claim or sue the manufacturer. I delivered my car to them on June 27 and to date they have it in their possession, leaving me unable to move and me having to assume the costs of renting and paying friends to pass their cars to me. I hope they can see my case since they wrecked my car.

WILL KEEP DOING IT UNLESS I EITHER DO TWO OF THE FOLLOWING THINGS STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR PETAL, OR PUSH ON THE BREAKS AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AND WHEN THE VEHICLES FRONT WHEELS ARE TURNED WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP IT'S 2 TIMES WORSE. IT DOES IT ABOUT 2-3 TIMES DAILY. I'VE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO FIX UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THEY CLAIM THAT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE THO BECAUSE OF THE PERSISTENT PROBLEM I KEEP FACING. Brakes intermittently malfunction - when issue occurs, brake pedal will loosely sink to floor without slowing the car down and will only engage suddenly when the pedal is pressed all the way to the bottom. Safety of driver, other drivers, and pedestrians are put at risk because the car cannot be reliably stopped. In the latest incident, the driver could not get the brakes to engage and had to swerve the vehicle into the sidewalk to avoid pedestrians. The malfunction occurs randomly, mostly in stop-and-go situations (traffic, stop signs, parking lot, traffic lights, etc.). Malfunction has persisted for the last 8 months. There has been 3 attempts to fix by the dealership from which the car was purchased - replacing brake pads and rotors, flushing the brake line, and replacing the ABS system. The dealership was able to replicate the issue. The issue has returned after every fix attempt and vehicle is with the dealership for a fourth attempt. No warnings or messages have come up from the vehicle to indicate the issue.

While driving my 2016 Hyundai Veloster (VIN: [XXX] ) on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration. Prior to this complete failure, the car had recurring transmission/drive issues: it would start, but when placed in reverse it moved backward, and when shifted into drive it still only moved backward. Despite repeated repair attempts, the problems persisted. A certified mechanic later inspected the vehicle and confirmed severe internal engine damage, including metallic noises, blue smoke, oil leakage from worn piston rings, and complete compression loss. The mechanic concluded the vehicle requires deep engine repair or replacement. These failures are consistent with widespread reports of Hyundai Veloster engine defects, which pose serious safety risks to drivers. My vehicle is now inoperable despite responsible maintenance and repeated attempts to fix the issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am the second owner of a 2016 Hyundai Veloster Base, purchased used at approximately 19,976 miles. Since then, the vehicle has experienced multiple major powertrain-related failures. At 49,196 miles, the first catalytic converter failed and was replaced. Later, both the engine and second catalytic converter were replaced by Kearny Mesa Hyundai, a certified Hyundai dealership in San Diego, CA. When I brought the vehicle to Kearny Mesa Hyundai, there were no warning lights or active diagnostic trouble codes. However, the dealership’s service documentation stated that a P0420 code (catalyst system efficiency below threshold) was present — a code that was not active when I dropped off the vehicle, raising concerns about diagnostic accuracy or documentation. Now, at 61,982 miles, I brought the vehicle to Hyundai Ontario due to delayed shifting and hesitation when accelerating. The dealership diagnosed internal transmission failure and quoted approximately $5,000 for repairs. There were no warning lights or codes detected, meaning this diagnosis is based solely on driving symptoms. The failure of two catalytic converters, the engine, and now the transmission — all within approximately 42,000 miles of ownership — raises serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this vehicle and possible manufacturing defects. The transmission symptoms pose a serious safety risk, especially when merging or accelerating into traffic. I am requesting that this vehicle be investigated for potential systemic issues affecting its powertrain components.

The car is sluggish and loses power when it is taking off. It is like it is in slow mode. The other issue is that it uses lots of oil. I even had the dealership to repair the valve cover gasket. It should not use oil at the rate.

I was driving my 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo when I started to hear a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. At this time I also noticed a decline in power and the check engine light came on. I made an appointment to bring the car to my local Hyundai dealership to have the car looked at. While en route to the dealership, the car suddenly made a loud bang and a profusion of smoke came out of the engine and engulfed the car, inside & out, making it impossible for not only me to see but also limited visibility for the person following me, which was extremely dangerous. I couldn't see or breathe and had to rapidly exit the car on the side of a busy road with no shoulder. The engine completely failed and the car was not drivable. I had the car towed to the Hyundai dealership where they told me the engine had seized and needed to be completely replaced. Although my VIN is not yet included in engine recall 20V746000, my car has the 1.6 liter GDI Gamma engine included in that recall. In addition, the exact chain of events that I experienced have been described by others whose cars are included in the recall which describes connecting rod bearings inside the engine wearing prematurely (creating a knocking sound and reduced engine power), causing engine damage. I am requesting an investigation into this incident as I feel that my car should be included in the recall. It was a very dangerous incident and I don't want others to needlessly experience this same problem, possibly with more harmful consequences.

02/??/22 immediately after purchase, the vehicle’s alternator died and had to be replaced. 12/06/22 catalytic converter blew with no warning while driving. Car was towed to mechanic. 12/07/22 repairs were approved, costing $1,748.66. Shop informed us this repair was due to a recall (campaign 22-01-023H-2) From 12/22 through 07-23 I opened many cases with Hyundai, who closed cases without explanation. During this time I am required to refill vehicle’s oil every month to stop engine knocking and prevent break down. 06/23 I was finally able to set an appointment to start the first step of the recall. 07/10/23 I arrived for my appointment to start oil monitoring, but was told to reschedule and come back later. 07/19/23 I arrived for my rescheduled appointment. Dealer made me pay for oil that was used and instructed me to return in 1,000 miles. After 1,000 miles I returned and left my car at the dealer for a few days. When I returned Hyundai staff told me the recall was “only for the original owner.” I was also told the recall was “already fixed” and there was “nothing wrong” with the car. I self advocated, stating again that the oil was depleting rapidly and what I had gone through. Staff told me to “drive the car until it breaks down, then Hyundai will cover the costs of repair.” I mentioned how that is unsafe, but was sent away. 11/24/23 vehicle completely broke down out of state in a dark and unfamiliar area at nighttime. Vehicle was towed, requiring engine repairs. 11/27/23 I opened a case with Hyundai regarding these issues. A few weeks later I was told the case was closed since they “had to believe the dealer and not the client.” 02/05/24 alternator died, vehicle required a tow to the mechanic. 02/06/24 repairs were approved for almost $1,000. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle as it is unreliable, breaks down without warning lights- which only appear after break down, and the manufacturer refuses to take accountability for these issues.

Thank god i was able to maneuver it to the sidelane and no one was injured. There were no warning lights whatsoever. I had to call a tow truck to bring it to my house. And since im very scared to use it again. And up to now the car is still not working, i wonder if its the engine or the alternator that caused the engine to die.

When my car 2016 Hyundai Veloster reached almost 95000 mileage the oil starts to dissipate much faster so started to do oil change much often. Recently and my care already at 97000 mileage. We are driving going up a hill and it started to make some noise kind of like a motorcycle noise and I know there is something wrong but no light warnings or anything. I was trying to push it to get to a safer side of the road because I have my 86 year old mother with me but the car did nor make it and heard something snap really loud and the car just stopped and saw a little bit of smoke. Had to stop immediately on the side of the road and it was a bad spot against the rail and that blocked the 2 doors on the right side. the car only have 3 doors so now my mother is stuck and had to figure out how to have her crawl out to get out the driver side of the vehicle. If the car was on fire that would have been really dangerous. Took it to the mechanic and my insurance inspector already saw the car and determined that there was some kind of rod that came off and that the engine is blown an that it is with a hole. it is beyond repair or if I do it will cost $5000-$6000. I bought it on 2018 with only 5000 miles on it. I kept up with yearly maintenance. I think it is insane that it will break that fast and we are traumatize with the danger. I am not ready financially for this.

VELOSTER TURBO DCT MODEL. WHEN THE CAR ISN'T FULLY WARMED UP, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER UPON MEDIUM TO HARD ACCELERATION. PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR INCREASES ENGINE REVS AND TRANSMISSION ACTUALLY SHIFTS, BUT NO POWER IS BEING PUT TO THE WHEELS. YOU HAVE TO FULLY LIFT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THEN DEPRESS AGAIN TO GET POWER BACK. FOR EXAMPLE, ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO FREEWAY TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS AS IT LOSES POWER AS YOU ARE MERGING AND COULD EASILY BE REAR ENDED. OR TURNING LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC, IF THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER MID TURN YOU COULD BE HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAPPENS EVERY TIME YOU HAVE MEDIUM TO HARD ACCELERATION WHEN THE VEHICLE ISN'T FULLY WARMED UP. HAS HAPPENED TOO MANY TIMES TO NUMBER. THERE IS VIDEO DOCUMENTATION ON THE INTERNET OF SAME PROBLEM.

ISSUE OCCURS SPORADICALLY (AVG COUPLE TIMES A MONTH) SINCE JUNE 2016 WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO DUPLICATE BUT IT OCCURS AND IS WITHOUT A DOUBT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE CAR IS NOT FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. PROUD MILITARY FAMILY IN THIS OUR SOLE VEHICLE, WHICH IS NOT GETTING THE ATTENTION IT NEEDS FROM HYUNDAI IN REGARDS TO THIS MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. CANT BELIEVE THEY KEEP SENDING US OFF IN THIS DEATH TRAP SAYING THEY UPDATED IT AND IT SHOULD FIX OUR ISSUE. THEY ARE AWARE AND THEY DO NOTHING TO MAKE PROGRESS ON THIS ISSUE OR ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE FAMILIES IN THEIR VEHICHLES WHEN THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS PRESENTED ITSELF IN OTHERS VELOSTERS AS WELL.

RECENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUES FOR THE 2016 TUCSON DCT. MY 2016 VELOSTER TURBO DCT HAS HAD THE IDENTICAL ISSUES, WHICH BEGAN JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR BRAND NEW. IT'S BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP FOR 5 MONTHS NOW, TOTALING OVER 70 DAYS. THERE HAVE BEEN GAS ISSUES - GAS FUMES SMELL OUTSIDE AND INSIDE VEHICLE, LOSING GAS ABNORMALLY FAST WHEN DRIVING, GAS TANK NOT FILLING TO FULL. THE AC RATTLES INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS BLOWN HEAT OFF AND ON. MOST IMPORTANTLY IS THE SAFETY REGARDING THE 7 SPEED DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT I HAVE CAPTURED IT ON CAMERA THREE TIMES - ONCE PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION PARTS BEING REPLACED, AND THEN THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. AND TWICE AFTER THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. JUST LAST FRIDAY, I COULDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT SEIZED TO SHIFT AND ACCELERATE PROPERLY FIVE TIMES IN A ROW, THE MOST IT HAS EVER HAPPENED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS PLACED BACK INTO A RENTAL. TODAY, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS "THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG" (THIS HAS BEEN SAID OVER THE COURSE OF 5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT'S INTERMITTENT) AND THEY'RE FORCING ME TO RETURN THE RENTAL - LEAVING ME WITH UNSAFE TRANSPORTATION YET AGAIN. I'VE RISKED MY LIFE FOR MONTHS TRYING TO CAPTURE VIDEO PROOF, AND I HAVE SENT THE VIDEO PROOF TO HYUNDAI - YET THEY ARE STILL MAKING MY RETURN THE RENTAL AND ARE NOT FIXING THE VEHICLE, NOR DO THEY HAVE A FIX FOR IT (ALREADY REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER!!). THIS IS A VIDEO I CREATED AND UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE, SUMMARIZING SOME OF WHAT'S GONE ON AND THE VIDEO PROOF I HAVE. HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=1Y3ECBR07EM I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH NEVADA CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHO HAS ALREADY REVIEWED MY CASE AND TRIED NEGOTIATING WITH HYUNDAI. THEY HAVE INSTRUCTED ME TO OPEN A CASE WITH NHTSA AND THE DMV.
