How to read a Infiniti G37 VIN — every digit explained

Every Infiniti G37 carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.

1–3 · WMI4T1
4–8 · VDSBF1FK
9 · Check5
10 · YearH
11 · PlantU
12–17 · Serial123456
  • WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
  • VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
  • Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
  • Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
  • Plant (11) — which factory assembled this G37.
  • Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.

Model-year code (10th digit)

The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:

What's wrong. Nissan is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 infiniti g37 coupe vehicles and certain model year 2011 nissan 370z vehicles manufactured from july 2, 2011, through august 29, 2011. Due to a programming error, the power window switch controller in the subject vehicles was manufactured out of specification.

Risk. The threshold for auto reverse activation is higher than the nissan specification. Should a body part become trapped by a closing window, a pinch injury may result.

Fix. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power window switches with new ones free of charge. The safety recall began on december 5, 2011. Owners may contact nissan at 1800-647-7261 or infiniti at 1-800-662-6200.

Air Bags08V521000

What's wrong. Nissan is recalling 204,361 my 2007-2008 altima, altima hybrid, 350z, 350z roadster, my 2008 altima coupe, rogue, my 2009 murano, and infiniti my 2007-2008 g35 sedan, my 2008 g37 coupe and ex35 passenger vehicles equipped with continental automotive systems' occupant classification system (ocs) control units. A varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. Under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit (acu).

Risk. This could result in the passenger air bag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash.

Fix. Dealers will test the signal between the ocs and acu systems using a special tool to check that it is functioning as designed. If necessary, the seat cushion (containing ocs hardware) will be replaced with a new one manufactured to specification. The recall began on november 4, 2008. Owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or infiniti at 1-800-662-6200.

2013 G37

My son was driving the car and someone failed to yield in a roundabout and hit him. The passenger side curtain airbag deployed and popped. Now he has ringing in his ear and possible ear drum damage. Doctors appointment is scheduled to confirm that.

2013 G37

I was in a parking lot. I backed out when i started to shift into drive the car accelerated and started to spin in circles. The steering wheel locked. I was not in control of the car and nothing would worked in the car. I couldn't shift gears so i shoved it into park. The car finally stopped but not before it hit an island causing $7822 in damages to the rear of the car. The air bags did not deploy. I was quite shaken up but had no serious injury. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was contacted at the local and regional levels. They had someone look at the vehicle but after 7 weeks they still have not contacted me with their findings. I am not driving the vehicle and i have not had it repaired. I fear that if i have it repaired and i sell the vehicle, it is an unsafe car and someone else will get hurt. I have found several reports of similar occurrences on the internet.

2011 G37

My wife was pulling into her parking spot at work with her foot on the brake when the car suddenly lurched forward. She clearly remembers braking as normal when parking and had witnesses standing within 15 feet that noticed the sound of the brakes and the brake lights lit. My wife's head hit and cracked the windshield. In addition to head injuries, she has whiplash and other injuries. The front bumper was badly damaged along with fluids leaking from the engine. The air bags never deployed. *tr

2010 G37

I was stopped at red light and driver behind me did not see the light. She rear ended me at an approx speed of 30-35 mph. The force of the hit pushed my car into the one in front of me, resulting in a 4 vehicle accident. At the time of impact, my glasses came off of my face and i hit the windshield - my seat belt did not lock. The force of the crash bent the frame, destroyed the trunk, and resulted in a total loss. I sustained a moderate to sever concussion, along with whiplash and persistent headaches. *tr

Takata recall: flashing airbag signal on the dash after minor collision while standing in traffic. Collision center states it's not due to the collision as the front of the car air bag sensors are functional and not damaged. They state the passenger seat sensor for the airbag has malfunctioned. Sounds like this has happened to several other g37's. Hopefully is enough people voice their complaints then a recall will be initiated. I can't bear the thought of a loved one getting hurt because the sensor is not working and people can't afford to fix it.

2013 G37

It started when i was pulling into the parking lot in my office building. With no warning, the car started to accelerate at around 7-8 rpm making a roaring noise heard by many witnesses. This resulted in losing control of the car which then went off the side of the lot into a steep decline where i hit a tree. If it wasn't for that tree there was another 60-70 ft drop into a canyon that i inevitably would have fallen into. You might say, "oh i might've pressed on the acceleration instead of the brakes", but there were skid marks left on the ground that would indicate i was already pressing the brakes to come to a stop, when it suddenly accelerated. In addition, i wouldn't have pressed the brakes that hard, so even if i did accidentally press the acceleration, there would be no way the car would hit 7-8 rpm without virtually flooring it. These are hypothetical situations that i am posing to show that it was not accidental on my part, but a defect within the car. This car posed a life threatening injury that i would like for future car owners to know and to take into account. Please, please, please share this to anyone you know who owns this model car and report to every vehicle institution you guys know of. Thank you. *tr

Rear speaker AMP caught fire and burned the rear of the vehicle near the fuel tankMarch 19, 2021. The electrical fire occurred several hours after the vehicle had been parked under an apartment housing complex carport. Had it not been noticed the structure along with several other vehicles could have caught fire. Pasco Washington Fire identified the source as the factory AMP in the rear of the vehicle having started the fire. It is available for inspection

Car died at 2 years 35k. Wouldn't start despite apparent accessory power. Rolled down hill damaging door. Car was used normally every day and was never left in a manner that would draw power while parked. It was also never left undriven for more than 12 hours. The car was, however, driven for mostly short trips. Dealer diagnosed it as a dead battery. An internet search shows that this is an extremely widespread problem. There is a tsb for the coupe but not the sedan for a continuous power leakage from the vent control valve. Http://www.infinitig37.com/tsb/1st34.pdf. *tr

Regarding tracking number 11400119.- infinity called me today(from phone number 6157257000. She said they are not interested in my case because the car has no recall on it. I'm confused because i thought you and infinity would want to know what caused the fire and if others with this model of.car were in danger of being set on fire.

Last night while i was sleeping, my car caught fire inside.it appears it started where the seat warmer button is(on the console). It was a big enough fire to reach the roof.

Around 6am on 4/13/19 me and my family and neighbors were awoken by an explosion in the front end of my vehicle..we called the fire dept and they ruled it as an electrical problem..i noticed that all the sensor lights in the dash would blink and the airbag sensor light was going off that evening prior to the incident..i didnt think much of it..i was planning on taking it to a mechanic that morning but it caught on fire..its a total loss.the fire fighters had to cut the hood open in half to get to the fire in the engine compartment..its not fair..i had just bought that car..and i loved my infinity..luckily i wasnt injured or anyone else. The vehicle was parked in the street..i need my car for work , school and on a regular basis. Please help me. *dt*jb

2013 G37

Immediately when I started driving, the sensors on my dashboard started lighting up. First the air pressure sensor, then the Tire serve sensor, and finally the key sensor. My turn signals were malfunctioning. They would go on and off without me triggering them. Then every time I came to a stop and accelerated again, my car would jerk back. I eventually pulled over and my car wouldn’t even turn off. I had to put the key fob in the key slot to get the car to turn off. Then, the car would not start back up. I had to have the car towed to the Dealership. When I arrived at the Dealership, they told me that there were two other cars there having similar issues caused by rain water getting into the electrical. Here is the diagnosis they gave me: UPON INSPECTION AND SITTING IN VEHICLE CAN SMELL AND FEEL DAMPNESS FROM CARPET. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND WATER FROM SUNROOF DRAIN TUBES LEAKING WATER INTO THE BODY CONTROL COMPUTER AND CAUSED ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT WITH INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM AND IGNITION SYSTEM. PERFORMED ELECTRICAL TEST AND TRACED SOURCE OF FAILURE TO THE BODY CONTROL UNIT. (THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CONTROLS KEYS, DOOR LOCKS, VEHICLE IGNITION START, AND TURN SIGNALS), AND VEHICLE LIGHTS). INSPECTION FOUND THERE IS A SHORT IN THE BODY CONTROL UNIT COMPUTER DUE TO WATER INTRUSION. REMOVED BODY CONTROL COMPUTER UNIT AND FOUND WATER INSIDE THE CONNECTOR PLUGS. BODY CONTROL MODULE COMPUTER SHORT CIRCUIT AND IS COMPROMISED. NEED TO REPLACE SUN ROOF DRAIN TUBES TO ELIMINATE WATER INTRUSION INTO THE CABIN AREA AND ALSO TO REPLACE BODY CONTROL UNIT COMPUTER. It’s highly unlikely that there would be 3 cars with similar issues at one dealership on any given day if this was NOT a manufacturers issue. Please help me get reimbursed and start a recall for this dangerous issue. Thank you

2013 G37

My vehicle fuel gauge reading recently started malfunctioning. It showed 1/8 tank and 40 miles left before I needed gas. The gas warning light came on. However within a minute, it showed 1/4 tank and 80 miles left before I ran out of gas. So I thought I was OK because I was on the freeway and I was getting better mileage, so I could travel further. I drove about 10 more miles and all of a sudden the warning light came on and said I only had about 2 miles of gas left. My car started sputtering and I ran out of gas on the freeway. I was VERY lucky I was able to coast (no power) onto the emergency shoulder. I called AAA to bring me gas. I felt very unsafe being on the side of the freeway in Los Angeles, cars were passing me at 70+ mph, and several cars swerved to avoid me, even with my emergency blinkers on. I thought it might have been a glitch that only happened once, so I have been very careful about filling my gas well before I think it needs it. But then it happened again the other day. My gauge showed 1/4 tank with about 75 miles left but then a few minutes later it showed 1/2 tank with around 150 miles left. I stopped for gas and it took nearly 15 gallons (it only holds 17 gallons). This is extremely dangerous, and many other G35/G37 owners have this problem. (I have seen the exact same issues with fuel gauge readings in Infiniti G37 forums). My cluster is working (I ran the cluster diagnostic and all gauges are functioning) so I believe it must be either the fuel sensor, the float arm or possibly an AC Amp (a part that controls all the information sent to the gauge cluster, found near the radio?) I also saw that Nissan/Infiniti had a recall almost identical to this. Recall 10V074000. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH. Please advise if this can be investigated as a potential safety hazard and recall for my vehicle. Thank you!

Sunroof drain failure causing rain water from the outside of the vehicle to enter the interior flooding the passenger side going from the front seats to the back seats. Due to the sunroof drain defect, the flooding of the interior causes the water to get into the body control module impacting the electronics which can result in numerous failures in the vehicle making it dangerous to drive. There are numerous videos on YouTube and posts on online forums describing this very issue which is extremely common with the G37. Infiniti dealer confirms the issue, but takes absolutely no responsibility. The cost of the repairs to the sunroof drain and body control module are completely placed on the consumer.

2013 G37

Air bag sensor fault in passenger seat. Air bag sensor does not work correctly, causing airbag to be inactive for all occupants of passenger seat. Infiniti does not offer a sensible fix. The only way to repair is to replace the entire seat ($8000). This is a safety issue that should be under warranty no matter the age of the car. I have found repeated evidence of this occuring often through looking at forums and websites that own this model and year.

2013 G37

While pulling into a parking space and braking going 1 or 2 mph the car surged forward with the engine revving loudly, causing the car to crash through a brick wall and into a restaurant ending in the car being totaled with over $15,000 of damage just to the car. The car only had 20,000 miles. A quick google search for "g37 surge while braking" results in numerous different accounts in which this has happened as well as on this website under infiniti g37.

Sunroof drain tube leaks water down passenger side A-pillar onto body control module above glovebox causing damage to system, electrical connections, air bag, engine light to activate, vehicle going into limp mode. Drain is functioning and not stopped up. Dealer unable to correct long term using OEM parts available for replacement. Vehicle and invoices available for inspection. When leaking, water runs down A-pillar, onto computer module above glove box, and into passenger foot well.

2013 G37 with only 58K in miles. The passenger interior was flooded after some rainstorms. The dealer has provided me an estimate of $3,000 to repair the sunroof drain and the water damage to the body control module (BCM). Infiniti Consumer Affairs has been zero help. They just gave me the run around. There are tons of videos and posts regarding the defect with the sunroof drain.

2013 G37

Water leaking into the cabin of the g series vehicles , likely from the wearing gasket of the part known as 'plug-side trim'. Soaks the carpet and may possibly damage wiring under carpet (which may damage electronics and in the case of other manufacturers, cause fires), as well as create a mold\mildew hazard and condensation that can cloud road visibility.

2013 G37

My driver's door will not open with either the remote or the key at times, especially when it gets cold. Other times if i get in, the door mechanism will not latch. Again, the remote does not fix this so i tried the lock button on the arm rest. That worked but then i could not get out. Not safe in the event of a fire, flood, or accident of any kind. I have had to climb over my console and i do not think i should have to with a car the caliber of an infinity. No other car i have ever owned has had this problem.

2013 G37

I also owned a g35 2008 infiniti with the same problem..the doors lock and i can not get in or out. The lock actuators fail. The doors can not be opened mechanically or electrically. The doors were locked when i went in the gym for 1/2 hour and when i came out i could not enter the car the doors were loced and would not open. After a while i was able to get the back seat door open. I drove the car home and was unable to get out of the car . All doors locked. The only way out is through the window. This is a huge safety concern,

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 infiniti g37. On several occasions, the door lock actuators failed to operate as intended intermittently. As a result, the contact was unable to exit the vehicle. On one occasion, the contact had to exit the vehicle through the passenger side of the vehicle. Additionally, after the vehicle was exited, the contact was unable to lock the door using the key fob or key. The contact stated that the failure affected all four doors. The vehicle was taken to sanford infiniti (located at 995 rinehart rd, sanford, fl 32771, (407) 915-3826) where it was diagnosed that the door lock actuators needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 35038060. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

I purchased a new 2011 infiniti g37x from salerno duane rt 10 denville nj. About 1 month into ownership of the car i had the car parked in my driveway running while i walked to the end of the driveway to pick up garbage cans. I heard a crash , i found the car crashed into my garage doing damage to the car , my garage wall and my son's bike. The car was still in park when i found it . I feel there is a something wrong with the car my driveway is flat and i want to know why this happened. I want the car repaired or replaced. *tr

My car was slowing down and jerked in and out of first gear ive been having this problem for motnths i looked on infiniti forum and seen itb12-027d and infiniti will not fix my car i almost hit someone car due to the car driving really weird ! And swerved and hit a curb instead this is ridiculous im also reporting this to the bbb as well because plenty of people are reporting this as an issue with this years transmission and engine and they arent doing anything to fix it but throw prices at their customers for the to fix tehe problem themselves

2009 G37

Pulling into parking stall (brakes applied / traveling 5-10 mph) the car lurched forward twice and stuck a parked full size truck. The car bounced backwards and lurched forward again and stuck the truck a second time and bounced backwards again. The ( off button) was able to be pushed at that time. The brake was fully applied the entire time. This has been the only occurrence. Infinity has not been able to duplicate problem and has downloaded the data base. The formal report will take approx. 4 weeks to complete. No parts have been replaced. Infinities consumer's affair has told us to pickup the vehicle and drive the vehicle despite no explanation or written proof the vehicle is safe to drive. The problem is related to either braking, acceleration or both. *tr

The contact owns a 2013 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer where they replaced the transmission valve battery. Soon after the repair, the contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate without warning upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact took the vehicle back to dealer and was informed that the control valve assembly and the speed sensor also needed to be replaced. The contact drove the vehicle home and replaced the control valve assembly himself. After the repair, the contact stated that while driving up an incline, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator without warning. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

Clutch would not go back up. Csc failed i guess it's a common problem in g37s and 370z that are manual. 2012 G37

This vehicle has a generic problem with acceleration: under some circumstances, especially at low speed when the accelerator pedal is pushed hard for rapid acceleration, the car will not accelerate, but hesitate, for almost 2 seconds, before finally accelerating. In some circumstances, this can be a serious safety issue: merging into (rapidly moving) traffic, seeking to cross an intersection, striving to avoid inattentive or careless drivers, etc. I have complained about this repeatedly to the dealership. They say it is a transmission issue, but they admit it is a known issue. Yet nothing has been done. I regard this as so serious that i am ready to sell the vehicle (tho we like it in every other respect): an oncoming train, or any other vehicle traveling 60 mph, travels 176 feet in 2 seconds, while we are sitting in the car going nowhere. !

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 infiniti g37. The contact attempted to start the vehicle, but it would not start without charging the battery. On january 30, 2014, the contact stated that the failure mileage was 18,430. After parking the vehicle, the instrument panel illuminated and the vehicle started after the battery was charged. The failure recurred on september 18, 2014 and the failure mileage was 20,900. When the contact opened the door, a beeping noise sounded approximately six times and all of the warning indicators illuminated; however, the headlights and the interior lighting failed to illuminate. As a result, the contact had to drive at night without headlights. In addition, the transmission fluid contaminated the radiator and the engine, which caused the vehicle to shut off while driving approximately 35 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact was responsible for the repairs, which included flushing the engine. The dealer stated that the transmission fluid contaminated the electrical system and engine, which caused the failure to occur. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,940.

I had to push my vehicle to the side of the road with the help of another motorist. I finally got the vehicle back into gear by pulling up the clutch using the top of my shoe. After i resumed driving, the clutch got stuck again. I brought the vehicle to the dealership and informed them of the issue. I also opened a file with infiniti usa. I have video from when my car was disabled showing that the clutch was stuck and vehicle could not be put into gear. Very very dangerous! *tr

Did not bring back the gear to park and pressed the start button. Left the vehicle not hearing the very weak signal. Wrote to manufacturer about this design issue. They did not care, even they responded that it is the way it is designed. Any driver with european or manual gear background will make the same mistake. The car was positioned on a slope, in a garage after i arrived at my destination. An agent had the reflex to jump in the car (i left the door opened) and stop the vehicle. Without this initiative, the car would have crashed against another car down the slope (very steep in a new york garage) and get the whole front crashed and the other car's side. But in a street anywhere, it can just kill someone! *tr

Hydraulic clutch fluid overheating causing catastrophic clutch piston failure resulting in not being able to engage, shift, or most importantly disengage the current drive gear in motion. The safety condition of not being able to disengage the operation of the vehicle puts the occupants at risk by limiting the ability to prevent collision. I have experienced this failure approximately every 20,000 miles, leaving the vehicle stranded on the highway with each occurrence of the event.

Thank you. *tr

While my wife was traveling on a local neighborhood street my infiniti g37 it began to accelerate excessively. She tried stepping on the brake but the car kept accelerating. She came to the end of the road at an intersection doing about 40 mph and turned to the left to avoid going into a house. In doing so she hit a sewer drain with her right front tire causing the vehicle to go almost airbourne. She came to rest without striking the house. The steering wheel airbag went off. *dsy

On the sunny and dry morning of december 9, 2020, i proceeded to alpine cemetery, perth amboy, nj to honor my mother's grave site and her anniversary. As i passed the gate entrance to the cemetery, i turned right; as i have always done in previous years. Once i turned to the right i noticed that there was a burial procession, with the funeral hearse obstructing the entire vehicle path. Since i could not drive forward, the only recourse i had was to turn around and find another vehicle path. Once i had taken the new path, which i believe would lead me to my mother's grave site, i realized that i could not reach her grave site since it was further up the new path. Once i turned the vehicle to the left; the vehicle went automatically backwards then forwards with the sensation of taking off the ground like an airplane. I had no control of the vehicle and the vehicle proceeded automatically hitting numerous tomb stones until one tomb stone stopped the vehicle. This failure occurred numerous times until a 3ft tomb stone stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the car repair shop, instructed by njm insurance; vnf auto body 732-321-6919, 20 prospect street, metuchen nj 08840.

When parking the vehicle and getting out with the keys in hand and not out turning off the engine, there is not some type of warning so that one doesn't leave a running car in a closed garage. I know that this is the drivers fault but it has happened to me twice and to a couple in highland park, ill that were asphasticated and died from this type of occurrence. I have talked to niasian us headquarters twice and they informed me that they do not accept an unrequested consumer comment and that they would not consider and/or look into this type of occurrence. Even though there has been deaths due to this.

My mother was driving her (2013) infiniti g37 on a city street when the car suddenly and unexpectedly turned off. She tried to restart it without any success and turn on her hazard lights, but the entire electric system had shut down for no apparent reason. She was very scared because cars were honking at her and after flagging down a police officer (30 minutes later), the car mysteriously turned back on. When she took it to the dealership, they did a quick computer check and told her nothing was wrong. And they said they had never heard of this happening even though my mother told them that she found several complaints on the internet recounting this same problem with this particular model of infiniti. We also reported this to the infiniti customer affairs department and they said they would look into it. *tr

The cooling system in this vehicle has a two part performed hose that connects the engine cooling system to the cabin heat exchanger. The two parts are connected with a plastic junction with two spring clamps. This vehicle has approx 85k miles and still has the original coolant. This junction disintegrated. It appears to not be compatible with the coolant. It delaminated and sheared. Luckily it broke while stopped in the garage. If it had happened at high speed it would have spewed the coolant at the rear of the engine, and at least some of it would have gone to the windshield, obstructing the view.

2012 G37

I purchased this vehicle, 2012 Infiniti G 37XS in September 2023. The vehicle was basically brand new with less than 2200 miles on it and I have driven it very little up to that point, October 2024, as it is not my primary vehicle. Around [XXX], I believe it was around 8100 miles and change on the vehicle, a warning light came on my dash regarding my passenger airbag. Since that date, I have worked with Plaza Infiniti in Creve Coeur, who has looked at the vehicle a few times and identified that there is no part replacement other than OEM that can fix this issue. However, the part has been discontinued. Today, I reached out to Infiniti directly, and with a sad heart, they refuse to even listen to me. Now, I have a vehicle that has a safety issue and no way to fix it. The part number 87300–1NL6A, is the lower seat assembly for the passenger side of my 2012 Infiniti G 37XS. This part also has the occupant sensor which is directly affecting the airbag. The sensor is not replaceable separately of the lower seat assembly. 2012 G37

I’ve owned this 2012 g37 for a few years and had no issues whatsoever. However within the last couple of months, my air bag light came on and has been flashing since. I’ve taken it to get inspected and had the system checked and was told my passenger seat occupant sensor malfunctioned and is throwing the code on. The sensor itself, very easily replaced, is unable to be bought by itself. Repairs by the dealership is well over 5,000 for the seat and labor. The sensor is being sold as a component part of the bottom build of the seat, and cannot be sold otherwise. The issue with the sensor not being active, prevents the activation of the passenger airbag regardless of the seat being occupied or not. My concerns are that I won’t be able to safely commute with passengers on the road and also being able to pass state inspection, as needed per law per state. Without this sensor, driving is an everyday peril, a safety concern a driver has no control over with other vehicles on the road. There has not been any prior incidents that have occurred that could cause this electronic issue.

2012 G37

Passenger Side Air Bag sensor flashes possibility due to faulty sensor in passenger seat. Water enters cabin on passenger side causing water to pool on floorboards, possibly causing electrical damage and failure. Water entering could be due to flawed design in water channel or sunroof.

2012 G37

The air bag sensor on the passenger seat has failed and the passenger seat does not recognize even an adult person sitting on it. As a result the airbag-off light for the passenger is always on and I am afraid if the rest of the airbags are working properly due to this faulty sensor. I looked up online after my sensor failed and it seems like this is a common issue for G37 vehicles. The only option to fix the problem is to replace the entire seat at a cost of anywhere from $6,500 to $8,500. My wife is afraid to ride in the car with me for fear the airbag will not deploy. There was no warning prior to the light flashing on the dash.

2012 G37

There is a water leak rage from the sunroof. My car gets soaked in water and it's not preventable. Creates a smell and mold

2012 G37

Faulty passenger airbag sensor. Infiniti is aware of the prevalent problem but will not issue a recall. The passenger air bag is deactivated even with adult passengers in the passenger seat. This is a major safety issue. I took the vehicle to the infiniti dealer for repair and they said it would cost $9,000.00 to repair. This is an outrage and several other owners have experienced this same issue.

2012 G37

Infiniti g37 convertible year 2012, with 11,400 miles (secondary car very low miles) displayed passenger airbag error/will not deploy airbag in a crash. The car was started and the display light never went off and has stay on every since while driving. Took the car to westhouston infiniti service one week later and was told a sensor was bad and that the entire seat would require replacement at a cost of 6k (my seat is almost brand new). I questioned why i should have to pay for what is surly a design flaw and the price is outrageous. I decline as that price was not doable and contacted infiniti consumer affairs who listen to state issue and sent an email that no assistance would be given due to warranty had expired. I can't afford to replace an entire seat for a sensor. I'm trying to understand why this is not their responsibility as i know others with the same issue. My firm position is no car company should be allow to require consumers to bare the burden of poor engineering.

2012 G37

My passenger seat weight sensor is malfunctioning going on and off at various times into the drive and various weighted passengers. This seems to be a very common problem on my 2012 g37 sport and the seat (sensor cannot be changed out so have to buy the whole seat) ranges between $5000 and $8000. This seems to me to be a safety issue, what were to happen if any one of us having this issue were to get into an accident with a passenger? From what ive read the passenger air bag will not go off with this light on so therefore my passengers safety is at risk because of a very common issue from infinity. Light goes on and off even sitting stationary.

While driving on the highway, the sunroof spontaneously exploded and shattered while in the closed position.

While driving on sept 15 from raleigh, nc to charleston, sc the sunroof on my infiniti g37 shattered. It was a clear sunny day with a temp about 80 degrees and to the best of my knowledge there was no foreign object that hit the car. In 2013 i began noticed the dash becoming tacky and difficult to clean. By 2015, the dash began to pool and reflect sunlight while day driving. Shortly after the pooling started, the dash began cracking and became soft, with damage occurring when touched.

2010 G37

Top of dash becomes extremely shiny and sticky after 1 hour of sunlight through the windshield casing unwanted glare in windscreen. Temporarily can be cleaned with soap and water and returns to dull non sticky appearance, but only temporary. Next time car is in the sun for about an hour of driving or parking, the the shininess and stickiness returns causing massive reflections in the windshield. Makes no difference if car is stationary or in motion. No product has been used on the dashboard other than soap and water as needed. Suspect the uv protection or plastics are failing. Car only has 35k miles and is garage kept. There was a similar problem and later class action suite for older nissans and infiniti, but the problem doesn't looked to be solved in newer cars.

2010 G37

The dashboard is melting and causes reflections at certain angles causing distortion in the vision. A part of the wind shield just shows the reflection of the dashboard hampering road vision

2010 G37

The vapors from the cracked dashboard have created a safety issue. The inside of the windshield continuously fogs up creating a visibility problem due to these emitting vapors. Have no clue if they may be toxic, however, the emitting vapors are a visual safety hazard. The vapors are continuously emitting whether the vehicle is stationary or moving. The cracked dashboard is the problem.

2009 G37

Our 2009 Infiniti G37x has developed the dreaded sticky dash issue. The materials in the dashboard have broken down, as a result the dashboard has become VERY reflective. It creates a heavy glare on the windshield both day and night which affects our ability to see out of the windshield. The glare makes it very difficult to see a night when street lights and headlights reflect off of the dash. Thankfully there has been no accidents caused by this issue, but this greatly increases the risk of accident when driving this vehicle. This is a common issue among all vehicles from 2009. I had a similar issue with my 2009 Toyota Camry, the dashboard on that vehicle was replaced under recall. Infiniti should be forced to replace the dashboards in these vehicles due to the safety risk they pose. There was a class action lawsuit for owners in Florida to remedy this issue. I attached several pictures of the glare in both day and night conditions. This problem can be easily seen when sitting in the vehicle.
