Car started spitting out liquid and smoking while driving. Pulled over and had it towed to a shop that confirmed the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is broken and the part is not able to be ordered at this time. Mechanic unable to obtain the part due to the already existing recall on jeeps of the same year, make, and model. It is available for inspection upon request. safety was put at risk because the car was inoperable while driving. No warning lights or warning symptoms prior to the incident.

I have had many issues that I have paid out of pocket for parts failing in my Jeep that are common problems with jeeps and always recalled except mine. It makes no sense to me. How can I have all the same failures but not qualify?

The recall was issued in January 2025 and as of September 2025 the remedy is still not available. The defect has not been inspected or confirmed by a dealer since FCA/Stellantis has not released the fix.

Total loss of power is a serious issue - reading on the jeep forums this is not an uncommon problem. I have had several times where I will be driving and the engine cuts out and you lose all power and power steering. The screen comes up and says shift to park or neutral press brake + gear. I put in park and after few minutes it usually restarts on first try. The most recent i tried about 10 times and call toe truck. I live in northern maine and below zero temps and tow truck couldn't arrive for 4-5 hrs. I live in remote area and only 1 option and they were hours away. I was in the middle of the road and was blocking traffic for bigger vehicles. After about 30 minutes and many attempts it finally restarted. I immediately drove to garage and they scan for codes and there were none. It was starting normally and running fine.bbthis has happened driving in traffic at stop light or going very slow around sharp corners or after sitting and then taking off. There has been many scenarios all could cause traffic accidents as it is out of your control and you never know when it will happen. It's gone months without doing it and then it happen multiple times. I live in very remote are and drive to the city for appts and travel alot of times after dark and after hours to even get towed . I don't feel safe driving my vehicle anymore fear of accident, bad area, temperatures, being stranded with no cell phone coverage. I live on dirt road and can't always count on help right away. It's happened too many times where I don't feel safe in a vehicle I love. I have tried oil changes, spark plugs, battery and I know there was a few others and nothing works. This has been happening since 50k miles and now 127k. I want to keep this vehicle but not feeling safe. I another garage visit scheduled next week to see if there is anything else to try.

After period of changes in cold and hot weather swinging from 70s to 30s car began to have a small oil leak. Took vehicle in for oil change at 120,xxx miles and no leak was found, over the next weeks the leak got worse and during driving the vehicle would intermittently display low oil pressure warning. After checking the dipstick there was very little oil. Vehicle was taken in for service (123,xxx miles) and it was found that the Oil Filter Housing had cracked. The Jeep Service Advisor stated that it was a common issue for Jeep vehicles with the 3.2L V6 over 80k miles. Oil was spilling out and down the engine filling the valley between cylinders and onto the exhaust which could possibly lead to fire or catastrophic engine failure due to oil starvation.

2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited, 154k miles currently. Purchased vehicle from third party with under 100k miles. Vehicle maintenance was always done per manufacturer suggestions(from third party and myself), at 152k miles I noticed vehicle overheating when driving 25-55MPH (with AC off). Also noticed a reduction in the powertrain. Vehicle diagnostic done at local mechanic and cleared(no coolant leak, no oil leak engine was in good condition.) Oil change and other regular maintenance work done as well. Then engine eventually blew a gasket, and a hose resulting in me having to replace entire engine and other damaged components due to the engine being poorly built.

The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the instrument panel light, dome light, and center console continuously flickered off and on with the battery voltage charge erroneously fluctuating up and down from 10 to 14 Volts. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the alternator, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer who determined that the PCM was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). All lights on the gear shift light up and a message on the display says service shifter. Happens randomly. Have to turn car off and back on to get to clear. Yesterday I had to turn car off and back on 3 times before error would reset. Found online this is happening to a lot of Jeep cherokees and most common fix is to replace the shifter bezel and wiring. So I replaced the shift bezel and wiring harness yesterday.

I have also had it come on and then my vehicle dies. The I have taken it in and been told no code comes up so nothing is wrong. But clearly something is wrong.

Didn’t have the issue for a while and it started again January & February 2021, September 2022, June 2023, August 2023, and now ever day in 2024. Have to turn off vehicle and restart. Took to dealer and they said that it’s the shifter harness after they already had changed it. Please help, cause when driving, you can’t figure out in what gear it in and you can’t see your speedometer’s speed. Thanks!

My Jeep Cherokee with only 43,000 started to randomly give me error messages that says "service shifter". This has happened multiple times when I am driving and all my lights on the shifter light up red and I am unable to determine what gear I am in. I have to stop driving turn my engine off and back on to get this to correct itself. In addition, one day I was driving and all of my headlights flickered and all of my dashboard lights went out for 5 seconds then came back on. My battery has died twice now recently and there was nothing left on. Due to these issues and the fact that I do not have a check engine light on, I called Jeep to see if there have been any recalls or other complaints, I was informed that there have not been. I have been doing some research online to find multiple forums where people with 2018 are having the exact same issue. This is posing a safety risk and I would like to see what steps can be taken since I am not the only one.

2018 Jeep Cherokee The power transfer unit malfunctioned and had to be replaced. A warning light indicated that there was an issue. It cost more than $5000 and the part was on back-order for 2 months. The dealer explained that they had so many power transfer unit replacements they could not repair my car unit the back-ordered part arrived. I also paid $2000 or more in rental car fees during that time. This all occurred only a few months after the manufacturer's warranty had expired. The repair was completed at the dealer. I am filing this complaint because Jeep Cherokees from 2017 had a recall for power transfer units. My car was built in 2017. I believe the power transfer units in some of the 2018 Jeep Cherokees are also faulty. There are many, many posts online regarding this issue. I appreciate that you are able to look into this. The brakes are locked up and will not disengage one week after coming home from the store in the rain. I was lucky enough to have it parked in my garage when I found out. I had a mobile mechanic look it over and I was told that the electronic brake control module needs to be replaced. The vehicle only has a little over 8,000 miles on it so far. I attached a picture of the part and a screenshot of the email stating what has to be done to repair the problem.

Doing some investigation into this vehicle, it revealed that the current design of the rear compartment does not provide adequate protection against water intrusion. There are several points of entry through which water can seep into the electronic components, including the improperly sealed connector to the EPB. Furthermore, similar incidents involving the same make, model, and manufacturing year indicated that this is not an isolated problem. Numerous reports from owners of 2018 Jeep Cherokee have surfaced, describing similar cases of water damage leading to the malfunction of the electronic emergency brake. This suggests that there is a systemic manufacturing defect that needs to be urgently addressed. The implications of these malfunctions are significant. Not only does this defect render the vehicle immobile, but it also poses a serious safety risk to the driver and other road users. In both the March 2023 and June 2024 incidents, the affected vehicles were stranded in traffic, creating a potential hazard and increasing the likelihood of accidents. It is evident that this issue has the potential to cause harm and must be addressed without delay. Given the recurring nature of this problem and the severity of its consequences, immediate action is imperative. It is crucial that the manufacturing company identify and implement a solution that effectively prevents intrusion into the rear compartment by implementing alternative waterproofing measures. Additionally, it is essential for the company to take responsibility for the vehicles already affected by this defect. Adequate compensation and rectification measures should be provided to the affected owners. This could include financial reimbursement for as well as a recall and systematic examination of all vehicles manufactured during the same period to identify and resolve any potential issues before they escalate.The implications of these malfunctions pose serious safety risks and demand immediate attention.

[XXX] noticed parking brake was engaged and (P!) warning light was on, I had not turned parking brake on. I pushed brake pedal and parking brake to disengage. Next day it was on again when I started car. I went to repair shop and they added brake fluid, the warning light stayed on. When home I went to repair shop Wednesday [XXX] but when they checked it hours later the light was off and brake fluid was full so we thought the warning light reset. Next day while driving warning chime sounded and (P!) Warning Light came back on and stayed on. Friday [XXX] took it back to repair shop and they said had to take car to a Jeep dealer. Monday [XXX] made appointment and took car for hand car wash, after the wash the Red BRAKE light was flashing and the mileage was also flashing. Did not drive until my appointment on [XXX] Marino Jeep, in Chicago. Marino Jeep called me stating water leaked into control module and caused corrosion to the brake system. My 2018 jeep Cherokee emergency park and brake got stuck and wouldn’t release and I had to take it back to the dealer ship I got it from . We repaired it 11/20/2023 at classic Chrysler in NC had to wait almost 2 weeks because they had to order a part in . They replaced the parking brake switch/module. And it’s about 2 weeks later And the same issue is happening again .

I see no open recalls on this issue however I did find a class action lawsuit related to this issue. My emergency (Parking) brake engaged and will not disengage. I stopped to get gas yesterday and upon re-entering the vehicle two lights appeared, the service parking brake message appeared on the screen along with the brake light. The car would not move the brakes would not disengage. Several attempts to press the switch to turn off the parking brake failed. I sat for 5 hours at a gas station waiting for AAA to find me a tow truck to get home. They were unable to locate a tow because of the need to dolly the vehicle because of the engaged parking brake. A friend came to assist me and after several thousand tries the parking brake disengaged. He followed me home (5 miles). This morning I attempted to take the car in for service as the warning lights were still on the dash. The parking brake is again on and will not disengage.

Service 4wd came on. Has been on. Jeep dealership said the switch was bad, replaced and still on. Since then it has turned off while driving 6 times. Now all the time in traffic and when I try to park it will say service shifter. I contacted stellantis directly about this and the supposed recall they announced, but has no fix. They said it isn't their problem it is on the dealer. Not acceptable to make a car that I have to force myself daily not to be in an accident with. Most recent was today. Car died and stuttered to a stop in someone's yard. Power assist stearing goes away! And it is 2wd now.

2018 Jeep Cherokee has service shifter appearing multiple times in the last 2 months. It has lasted up to 3 days before resetting. My jeep has 78K miles and I'm the only owner. My jeep has randomly shut down completely while driving 65+ mph. When I restart it, the transmission makes a jerking motion and the rpms accelerate rapidly. Upon investigation I'm finding this is a HUGE problem with this model year, along with 2017 & 2019. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED before someone dies from this jeep being in an accident with little to zero time to recover power!

The contact stated the instrument panel had begun to flicker on and off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, there was vibration, and the engine was running very rough. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the Electronic Control Module and the throttle body and O2 sensor needed to be replaced. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWO TIMES FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT HAVE REPLACED THE BLOWER THE FILTERS AND SO ON. EVERY TIME THE AC OR HEAT COMES ON THE CAR STARTS SHAKING AND JERKING WHILE IN TRAFFIC. Vehicle: 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk VIN: [XXX] Recall: Manufacturer #01C / NHTSA #25V-011 Complaint: On January 16, 2025, FCA US (Stellantis/Jeep) issued a recall (01C, NHTSA 25V-011) for 2017–2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles due to improperly seated input shaft snap rings in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). The recall summary itself acknowledges that this defect can cause uncontrolled input shaft movement, spline damage, and/or range fork damage, leading to loss of motive power while driving or loss of PARK function while stationary — both creating a serious crash and injury risk. The recall notice states that the remedy will be a reprogramming of the Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) with software to detect excessive wear and replace the PTU if needed, along with a warranty extension. However, as of this filing, the recall status for my vehicle remains “Incomplete, Remedy Not Yet Available.” Owners are being left to drive vehicles with a known risk of sudden power loss or loss of PARK, and Stellantis has failed to provide a timeline for the remedy, a loaner vehicle, or interim safety protections. This constitutes an unreasonable delay in providing a remedy to a recognized safety defect under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301. I request NHTSA investigate Stellantis for failing to make the remedy available in a timely manner, and to compel the manufacturer to expedite corrective action. Jeeps are currently recalled for PTU for 2017-2019 models. Symptoms in clude "Service 4WD" message on the dashboard, unusual noises, vibrations, or changes in how vehicle drive. My Jeep is a 2018. I am not sure why my VIN is registering as 0 recalls. My Jeep is stopping in mid drive. It has stopped on the expressway and street. This is dangerous.

Starting in early 2021, I had my Jeep serviced, and noted a constant banging noise and feeling while driving my car. It was inspected (for lots of money) and test driven. I was told the noise is "normal." As time went on, it progressively got louder, more vibrating, and more frequent. I noted this as a continuing concern--I was told "it is normal for this vehicle." I just spoke with the dealership again, in light of the Transfer Case recall (25V011), and when he looked at my history, he said I needed to immediately call Mopar. Because there is not one moment my car isn't banging while it's in "drive," he said it was a serious issue and I shouldn't wait for the "parts to be available." He also apologized that I was told several times that something like this is normal. I called Mopar today and spoke with "Kate" at 1:29 PST on 1/29/2025. She noted the lack of parts and a plan. When I explained that my car has active issues she said, "let me transfer you to the recall department." I thought Kate was in the recall department! She then transferred me to the original calling system, and I got nowhere. So I am emailing you to inform you that my vehicle has a constant banging noise consistent with your recall, based on a Jeep dealership's assessment and my brief call with Kate at Mopar. It was also noted by one of Jeeps' service techs, today that I should contact Mopar for immediate next steps; that he believe my vehicle could immediately become catastrophic. Mopar provided me with no additional remedies or steps. This is my sole mode of transportation and I live in a rural, hilly community. Legally, I need to document my attempts to remedy this, in the event that the vehicle does harm or kill someone--because, as noted in the recall and at the Jeep service center, even park can fail and run someone over.

This vehicle had a recall for the shifter. It went in for the recall but not long after the shifter lights are back. Every time we drive the shifter lights come on. Went back and the dealer will not fix the problem.

Service shifter message appears on screen over speedometer. All the gears light up red on the shifter. Unable to change gears unless you turn off the car and restart. Happens multiple times per year. When you search the internet this is a common occurrence and nothing is being done about it.

My jeep will stall without warning. If i turn, it stalls out, brake it stalls, turn the vehicle on hit the gas to go and step off the gas it stalls. Sometimes it won’t start or it will start then stall out. It’s without warning and has had me left on the side of the road multiple times after pushing it out of the way or trying to get it to start again. I’ve had the computer plugged up to it and even the mechanics said they haven’t seen this before. I’ve had the individual parts to the engine tested, they work just fine such as alternator. I will just randomly lose power while driving. I also have the random Gear Shifter Error that it seems every Jeep owner is going through.

The service shifter light keeps coming on. Sometimes when stopped in traffic the vehicle’s transmission will shift from drive, to some unknown position, then the engine will stall out when attempting to go forward with traffic. The car will then not start and the shifter will not allow any gear shifting to be done. Can not be put into neutral in order to be push or easily towed. This has happened 4 time within the past 18 months. Each time the dealership acts surprised and responds that they have never heard of a service shifter issue before. They tried a software update, which didn’t help. They also stated that they could replace several parts that added up to over $2000. Stated it wasn’t their problem since it is out of warranty. Yes, it is available for inspection. Always being out in risk at busy intersections due to a potential of being hit in the rear end of the car because people expect your car to be moving. Have had several cars swerve at the last minute barely missing me. And having to exit the vehicle is even more dangerous. Yes, the dealer has seen the issue along with an independent repair shop. Service shifter message is on most of the time but no one really knows how to fix it.

SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING -takes up full screen on vehicle cannot see any other specs of the vehicle -safety, service shifter recalls in past day to not operate vehicle. This warning randomly comes on when no problem is present. -the problem has been recreated on multiple occasions for dealer, mechanics, and friends -has not been inspected. States not sure what causes this -no other warning lamps came on and none can come on since this takes up the entire screen and places the MPH in smaller lettering at the top

AFTER OWNING MY BRAND NEW 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE FOR A FEW MONTHS, I TURNED ON MY VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME ON IN MY DASH AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER LIT UP. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN, SO I TOOK IT AND WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF, THE MESSAGE NO LONGER APPEARED. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND IT SAID IT CAME BACK FINE. UPON GETTING MY CAR BACK, IT WAS RANDOMLY SHOWING THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWO MORE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY STATED THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND SO NOTHING WAS FIXED. I HAVE NOW OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE STILL APPEARING ISSUE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS BUT I FEAR THAT WHATEVER IS CAUSING THE WARNING TO APPEAR MAY CAUSE ISSUES. I HAVE READ THAT MANY MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. ALL THREE TIMES I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN, IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING.

My car keeps stopping in the middle of me driving. I've had the car about a year and a half. Today the electric throttle light is flashing and car did not want to go in the middle of a double intersection and highway. Yesterday it read oil pressure.

Within the last 6 months this vehicle has left me stranded at least 5 times. The first time it overheated because the heating coil is so close to another line that is created a hole that caused the vehicle to overheat. The second time was an ignition coil. The third time was because it was time for an oil change which was not the case because it wasn't even time for an oil change. The other times were (battery) related but yet with the battery being replaced 200 bucks later I am left stranded on the road in the middle of traffic without any indication that it was going to cutoff. I fear taking it on the interstate. Within the last 24 hours I have been left stranded after having the dealership again yesterday tell me I need a new battery which I replaced but yet broke down again this morning. The vehicle will start but it seems like now 2-3 minutes it cuts off while driving and has to be jumped by another vehicle. This has to be an electrical problem...the lights don't dim; everything stays on for a bit once I take the keys out, but yet I am being told my VIN has no recalls. Once again there is no lights or anything that appear on the dash letting me know where is an issue.

ON 12/15/20 I DROVE LESS THAN 1 MI. DOWNHILL, STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN & THE ENGINE QUIT & BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE RESTARTED ABOUT 5 MIN. I WAS LOW ON GAS, SO GAS WAS ADDED & I FILLED TANK. THE ENGINE QUIT THE NEXT DAY AT THE SAME SPOT. IT RESTARTED AFTER A FEW TRIES. THE BATTERY INDICATOR SHOWED IT HAD A CHARGE & OIL WAS GOOD. REPEAT STALLING AT SAME SPOT ON 12/24/20 AND ON 1/2/2021. VERY CONCERNING AS I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND COULD EASILY BE HIT. I HAD 27,000 & CURRENTLY HAVE 35693 MILES. THIS VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BEFORE I GOT IT AND IS TOO NEW TO BE HAVING PROBLEMS.

Received a message on car display to "Service Airbag System." Dealer (Tasca of White Plains, NY) determined that one of the crash sensors had failed. Dealer said that first replacement sensor was defective, and that they would need to install a second one. If what the dealer said is true about the replacement sensor, then that's two defective crash sensors.

Driving on Hwy 156 close to hanston city , Kansas a deer came out of nowhere and hit my car , as soon I hit the deer it hit the front of the keep, it lost power immediately, it was still running slowly and temperature on the dashboard said 186, all lights in the dashboard where red, smoke was coming out and I keep driving it till i find a dirt road. No airbags dispatched, there was oil and smoke all the time .

THE AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT IS ON THE SAME RECALL FOR THE 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE, WHICH WHEN YOU TAKE IT IN THE DIAGNOSTIC IS A COST FOR THE SAME THING GOING ON WITH THEIR 2019 JEEP CHEROKEES SO THE RECALL SHOULD BE ON BOTH YEARS JUST NOT THE 2019. IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT RESET THEN THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF YOU BE IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH IS NOT SAFE.

I believe the shifter bezel is faulty. When pulling out of my drive way backwards a service shifter light came on and caused me to get stuck sideways and having multiple cars nearly tbone be because the hazard lights wouldn’t turn on after. I can’t even drive because of this incident I don’t feel safe in this jeep!!! I called jeep in Elk Grove California and they never heard of it, however I’ve found over 500 issues on Reddit and other forum sites of people having the same issue but more at 16,000 miles! No because I don’t have the money to fix their faulty product. The light “service shifter” appeared right when I put it into drive then everything went to [XXX].

Was driving and "Service 4wd" came on, no change in the driving, then went off and comes back. Now I'm getting "Service shifter" no change in the driving but all the lights on the shifter (P, R, N, D, +/-) are all red and display won't move from Service shifter.

Twice so far on this particular Jeep, all of the lights on the shifter light up and on the display above the steering wheel it displays the message “Service Shifter”. The issue will go away once the Jeep is shut off and turned back on. I have researched this online and a ton of people are having the same exact issue with low mileage. This needs resolved ASAP. I would hate to see what happens if we’re driving or to get left stranded somewhere.

Unknown…the Jeep using oil terribly, with no leaks. I have it serviced every 3000 miles, and it is always low or no oil on the dipstick at that time. I just had the oil changed, and fuel injection cleaned about a month ago…less than 700 miles since. The Jeep is cutting off while driving. It won’t start back for 2-3 minutes, and I’m sitting in traffic. It’s terrifying!!! When checked with OEM, it doesn’t show any codes, although an engine light is on. I’ve spoken with 3 different mechanics, that all stated this is common with this model…with no solution, no recall, and no idea what part to repair. I’ve been told throttle body, throttle body clutch, starter, etc…No one really knows where to start. And those parts are NOT cheap to replace as an experiment. I bought my Jeep new, with only 3 miles on it. This issue is new, within the last 2 weeks. The losing oil has continued since purchase, and it will cut off if the oil is low. This is different. As I stated before, the oil was just changed, and is not low. Please help!!!

Check Engine Light Stays on. Computerized message states check Electrical Service Throttle. When I get new gas in the car. The car stops in the middle of the highway or at the stop lights/signs and dies. Car has a very hard time starting back up. I had $1110.00 of repairs and took the car back to the same repair shop 4 times. It has never been able to be repaired. It is very dangerous to be driving on the roads and the car suddenly dies and has a very difficult time restarting the engine. This is only the first 30 miles after it has been filled with new gas. I have a friend living in another state. She has the same model of Jeep as I do and she has the same challenge with her car.

THE CAR STOPPED WORKING WHILE IN MOTION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHILE TURNING TOWARDS MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. I HAD MY DAUGHTER INSIDE THE CAR WITH ME AND I WAS AFRAID CARS WILL COME SINCE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WERE CARS PASS BY TO ENTER THE APARTMENT COMPLEX. I WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE CAR AFTER CALLING MY DAD WHO HELPED ME TAKE IT TO A SAFE SPOT AND JUMP START THE CAR. THE CAR WORKED AFTER DOING A JUMP START AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK IT AT MY PARKING SPOT. THE NEXT DAY I WAS LEAVING TO DROP OFF MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS INSIDE THE CAR COMING OUT (IN MOTION) AND THE CAR STOPPED SUDDENLY AND WOULDN'T TURN. I CALLED ROAD ASSISTANCE THIS TIME. THEY SENT ME A TOWING COMPANY TO TAKE IT TO THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP. SINCE THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN ON AT ALL, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO TAKE IT. THEY SAID THE CAR NEED IT A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK SINCE IT DIDN'T START AT ALL. THEY WERE ABLE TO TOW THE CAR 3 DAYS LATER ON SATURDAY 12/07/19 BY A TOWING COMPANY THAT HAD A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT ORLANDO DODGE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE WIN MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, THE BATTERY NEEDS TO BE RECHARGE AND GET NEW KEYS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW WITH 0 MILEAGES FROM JEEP DEALERSHIP ONLY 1 YEAR AND 6 MONTHS OLD. I DECIDED TO BUY A NEW CAR IN ORDER TO AVOID RISKS LIKE THESE ONE OF BEING LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET/ROAD WITH MY DAUGHTER INSIDE THE CAR. THANKFULLY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF ROUTE I-4 WERE I NORMALLY DRIVE.

I keep getting a “service shifter” message and all gears light up red. This has now happened about 15 times. I asked a dealership about it, but they said they would have to correct all of the wiring. I saw that many other jeep cherokee owners also experience this same issue and it does not go away.

MONDAY‎, ‎AUGUST‎ ‎13‎, ‎2018 THE JEEP CHEROKEE WAS IN FOR ITS FIRST OIL CHANGE. MINUTES AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE OIL CHANGE AND DRIVING OFF THE DEALER LOT AT 10:07 AM RECEIVED THE CHARGING/BATTERY INDICATOR ALONG WITH THE AUTO START/STOP ERROR INDICATOR. SECONDS LATER WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE JEEP BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EMIT A BUNCH OF SMOKE. WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE SERVICE CENTER AT THE DEALER, IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT A FAULTY O-RING ON THE OIL FILTER CAUSED THE LOSS OF 2 QUARTS OF OIL. SMOLICH MOTORS SERVICE CENTER FAILED TO NOTE THE AUTO START STOP ERROR AND NO ERROR WAS PRESENT AFTER THE LOSS OF OIL WAS REPLENISHED AND WE RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK DESPITE BEING SHOWN THE PICTURE OF THE ERROR. THEY DID NOTE THE O-RING FAILURE AND THE LOSS OF 2 QUARTS OF OIL ON THE SERVICE ORDER RECEIPT. On several separate occasions my automatic parking brake engaged without me engaging it. It will engage and will not disengage unless car is restarted. On one occasion I was travelling approximately 20 mph when the brake engage and caused the car to stall. The most recent occasion I was unable to disengage the parking brake and had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer believes the issue is related to the EPB Module in the rear left side of the vehicle. Water has been leaking into the trunk and corroded the module and connector. I believe this is related to NHTSA investigation number PE 22-009. A technical service bulletin was issued related to this issue and it appears to be a widespread issue with this make/model.

The parking brake pops on when I'm driving done the road!!! Often times when I start my car and put my car in Reverse or Drive and remove my foot from the brake the parking brake pops on and I start sliding down the road until my car stops!!! The major issue is when I was driving down a HWY at 37MPH no on coming traffic or no traffic behind me thankfully my parking brake engages and I fly into the steering wheel with a seat belt on and thankfully my 5 year old was fully bucked into his car seat and left unharmed!!! Although what if my Jeep does this with other vehicles around??? It's a super big safety and hazard!!! I won't ever purchase another Jeep!!

Since the car hit 20,000 miles, the "Service shifter" light will come on randomly. The dealership has had to "replace" the shifter components twice. And now it will come on when you put the car into reverse. This is a faulty part which needs to be replaced.

CAR STALLED AND THE PANEL STATED SHIFT TO PARK ON PANEL AND WOULD NOT CRANK BACK. TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAD A LONG HARD CRANK AND ENGINE FINALLY CAUGHT UP AND CRANKED. SHIFTED INTO PARK AND WENT ABOUT 1000 - 1500 FEET AND IT DIED AGAIN. WAITED AND TRIED TO CRANK AGAIN AND WENT TO HARD CRANK AGAIN BEFORE STARTING. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY CLAIMED LOW OIL. THIS IS THE REASON FOR GOING DEAD. STATED I NEEDED OIL CHANGES EVERY 5K AFTER I WAS TOLD INITIALLY 10 K THEN AT 1ST OIL CHANGE TOLD 7500K AND THEN AT THIS PROBLEM THEY STATED NO IT WAS DEFINATELY 5 K. THIS TIME, PANEL LIGHTS UP AND SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER SOON. ALL LIGHTS ON DRIVE SHIFTER LIGHTS UP. NOT JUST ON PARK OR REVERSE OR DRIVE. ALL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THEY COME AND GO. As I started to accelerate the system shutdown and sputtered before starting again, needless to say I was almost rammed by traffic. Due to the unresolved recall I have experienced alot of issues. The most terrifying is the loss of power, my jeep has just stopped moving sometimes allowing me to het to 30 mph but no more. This has happened to me 3x all of which were on the highway. I no longer have use of my 4wd, which is extremely frustrating since it was the only reason I purchased this vehicle. It has released itself from the parking position. And my "service shifter" light it constantly on. I did put my car in the shop over a year ago they "fixed" it, unfortunately it broke shortly after since it is a recalled part.

While driving my vehicle, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating. I pulled over and when I put it into park it felt like it was the transmission. However, I had the transmission inspected and there were no issues. Prior to the happening the "service 4WD" light kept coming on. After the incident, the vehicle could not be driven over 45mph, the steering was so stiff I could hardly turn it, and every time I put the vehicle into drive or park it would feel like the transmission was about to drop.

Oil leak found on driveway. 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited taken in for an oil change and diagnosis. Jeep Cherokee has oil leaking into the oil filter housing. Oil filter housing is plastic and needs to be replaced with a metal housing and new gaskets, along with a coolant change and oil change. This appears to be a common failure. Repairs are costly.

I fastened seatbelt. It retracted, but heard a rolling noise, which sounded like a can or bottle rolling in the floor behind me. Paid no attention to it and forgot about it. Next time I drove the Jeep, it happened again, so I got home and checked. There was nothing there to make that noise. Another short drive and I realized the seat belt wouldn't tighten, even though I attempted to tighten it some. Reading online, I found a suggestion to pull it out, release it slowly and listen for the racheting sound. It does not make the sound so I checked passenger side to see if it was different. Passenger side does rachet as the belt is slowly released. I've been wearing my seatbelt religeously since 1964, when one saved my life. I panic without it!

Had the car towed to dealership and was told I had little to no oil. I advised them I recently had an oil change days ago how is that possible at the dealership. At exactly 37000 miles my service “shifter light” comes on every 4-5 days. I’ve noticed in the warmer months it comes on more frequently. During the cold winter it came on twice. It’s becoming warmer again and it’s popping up often. My husband has a 2017 jeep Cherokee with the same exact issue. Our dealership gave us no answer to this problem. I believe TSB 08-054-18 does not take seriously enough the danger of an automatic car shutting off mid drive. Only by luck did I avoid being hit on a small road. This has happened pretty much every year of owning the car but I thought it was a fuel/oil issue related to weather until the shifter messages popped up this year.

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT, R,P,N,D, ALL LIGHTS TURN RED. HAPPENED MONTHS AGO AT 36,300 MILES, DIDN'T HAPPEN FOR A MONTH THEN CAME BACK. NOW COMES ON EVERY COUPLE WEEKS, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROW. TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE LIGHTS GO OFF. HAPPENS AT INTIAL START UP AND WHILE DRIVING.

Made a right turn onto a street and heard a single ding(the same ding it makes if seatbelt is off) then the car turned off, the red battery light briefly came on and then turned off. I rolled out of traffics way onto the shoulder and placed my car in park and tried to restart it. Car would not restart initially. After 3 tries the vehicle restarted and I was able to make it back onto the road. - the engine shut off and the power steering went out. these are available for inspection upon request. -The vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic so not only my safety but the safety of other drivers was at risk as my vehicle was turning a corner and not able to accelerate as other drivers came up behind me causing them to swerve. -the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center however my wife and I have experience the same issue at two different times. -The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership where the vehicle was purchased brand new and they were not able to provide an answer to the problem. -There were no warning lamps or other symptoms prior to the failure.

AFTER SHIFTING BACK TO PARK AND STRUGGLE TO TURN OVER AND RESTART, ABLE TO GET BACK HOME WITH SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING 2 MORE TIMES. REPLICATED THE ISSUE AGAIN PARKED AT THE HOUSE WITH A VERY HARD STRUGGLE TO START. STEERING AND ENGINE POWER COMPLETELY GONE.

WHILE DRIVING ABS, CHECK ENGINE, PARKING BRAKE LIGHT UP. BRAKES START TO SHAKE LIKE IF A TIRE IS SLIPPING BUT ITS NOT. STEERING WHEEL GETS STIFF. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD, ALL SYMPTOMS GO AWAY IF THE CAR IS WARM SOMETIMES. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT WHEN IT WILL START DOING ALL OF THESE SYMPTOMS AT ONCE. WE HAVE NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE UP TO HIGH SPEEDS UNTIL WE TAKE IT TO GET CHECKED OUT BY THE DEALER.

I WAS COMPLETING A TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT COMPLETELY OFF CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A CURB. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS ADVISED THIS HAPPENED DUE TO A SAFETY FEATURE OF MY CAR . WHEN THE CAR IS LOW ON OIL WHEN YOU TURN IT THROWS OFF THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR SO THE ENGINE DOESN'T BLOW UP . MY LAST OIL CHANGE WAS IN FEB MY CAR IS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL AND NO CHECK OIL LIGHT APPEARED .

WE HAVE A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE. WE WERE DRIVING BACK HOME FROM CHICAGO AND WE HEAR A DING. WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER IS THE WORDS SERVICE SHIFTER POPPED UP. NEXT TO THE SHIFTER ALL THE LIGHTS WERE LIT UP. WE PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WENT AWAY AND CONTINUED DRIVING NORMALLY. THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND NO SIGNS OF ANYTHING WRONG AND THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE OTHER THAN THE SERVICE SHIFTER ISSUE.10 MINUTES LATER ON THE SAME DRIVE THE SERVICE SHIFTER WORDS POPPED UP AGAIN ALONG WITH THE LIGHTS NEXT TO THE SHIFTER. WE AGAIN PULLED OVER TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE. ABOUT 2-3 DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WOULD SAY NOW THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS 1-2 TIMES A MONTH. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS WE DO NOT CONTINUE TO DRIVE WHEN IT POPS UP. WE INSTANTLY PULL OVER AND TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON. ITS ALWAYS WENT AWAY ONCE WE TURN IT BACK ON BUT IT'S DOES CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. IT'S NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES OTHER THAN THIS. WE HAVE READ THAT OTHER CARS HAVE BEEN AFFECTED AND THAT ANOTHER JEEP CHEROKEE WHEELS LOCKED UP AND THEY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THIS. WE ARE CONCERNED FOR OUR VEHICLE, OUR SAFETY, AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS.

FIRST INCIDENT, VEHICLE WAS PARKED, HENCE STATIONARY. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER AND A A CLICKING NOISE WOULD BE HEARD WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED AND LET IT RUN FOR A WHILE, THEN I SHUT IT OFF TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS OK AND IT DID NOT START AGAIN. SAME FLICKERING LIGHTS AND CLICKING NOISE. GOT IT JUMP STARTED AGAIN. DROVE TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE BATTERY CHECKED, WHILE TRYING TO PARK, VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF WITH CAR ON DRIVE. AUTOZONE EMPLOYEE TRIED TO JUMP START VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. AUTOMATIC LOCKS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. AS OF RIGHT NOW, UNKNOWN CAUSE OF VEHICLE INCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER THEN LIGHT UP RED THE 'PRNDL' THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE DEALER AND THE SHIFTER/ WIRING HARNESS NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH MOST JEEPS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS AND NO RECALL HAS YET BEEN MADE, I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 7 MONTHS AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THUS FAR. THIS BEING AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF I FEEL THAT SOME ACTION SHOULD BE MADE FOR THE CUSTOMER. I AM A LOYAL JEEP CUSTOMER BUT AFTER THIS ISSUE NOT BEING RESOLVED FOR YEARS I MAY NOT CONTINUE TO BE A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND GO ELSEWHERE TO PURCHASE MY NEXT VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN, I LOST ALL CONTROL. A MESSAGE POPPED UP THAT SAID 'APPLY BRAKE AND PUT IN PARK OR NEUTRAL' THE ENGINE SLOWLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR BEEPS AND SAID 'LOW BATTERY' BUT ALL LIGHTS AND VOLTAGE READING WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL. I TURNED CAR OFF, RESTARTED CAR, AND IT WAS FINE, I DRIVE IT ANOTHER 100 METERS AND IT REPEATS THIS EXACT CYCLE ALL THE WAY HOME.

MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON EVERY 3,000 MILES. TWO MONTHS AGO I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. MY BABY WAS 5 MONTHS AT THE TIME AND WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO START IT UP BUT HAD NO LUCK FOR 15 MINUTES, IT EVENTUALLY STARTED AND CONTINUED TO STALL ON MY WAY HOME.

CONCERNED ABOUT THIS I GOOGLED IT, AND FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO RESET. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 30 SECONDS, TURNED IT BACK ON, NOTHING SO I DROVE AWAY. 10 MILES LATER THE CAR DINGS, SERVICE SHIFTER, AND THE SHIFT LIGHTS WERE ALL LIT UP AGAIN. I PARKED, TURNED THE CAR AND FOLLOWED THE SAME PROCEDURE. WITHIN 6 MILES IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH JEEP CHEROKEE'S AND IT IS NOT JUST THE 2018 MODEL YEARS, IT SEEMS TO BE SO COMMON THAT JEEP PERFORMED A RECALL ON OTHER CHEROKEE YEARS.

I HAVE A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH UNDER 30,000 MILES ON IT. MY CAR'S STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN. MY BRAKES AND STEERING WERE LOCKED, CAUSING ME TO DRIFT UP ON TO A CURB AND HIT A SIGN. NO WARNING OR INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE CAR PRIOR TO THIS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I AM LEASING THE CAR FROM. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH JEEPS, THAT THE CAR WILL BURN THROUGH OIL VERY QUICKLY, THAT NO LOW OIL INDICATOR LIGHT WILL COME ON, AND THAT THE ENGINE WILL SHUT DOWN AS A 'SAFETY FEATURE.' I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO TO PROTECT MYSELF BEYOND GETTING OIL CHANGES EVERY 3K MILES AND THAT IT 'SHOULD' BE FINE. AGAIN, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THAT THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN OR THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE PRIOR TO IT TURNING OFF WHILE IN MOTION. THE CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN MOTION WAS REFERRED TO AS A SAFETY FEATURE BY THE DEALERSHIP WHO WOULD ONLY OFFER ME AN OIL CHANGE AS A FIX.

ELECTRICAL WARNING SYSTEM CAN NOT BE REMEDIED. EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING AND SETTING WHEN CAR IS IN DRIVE. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPLETELY WENT DEAD ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL, WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED AND NURSED OFF OF THE FREEWAY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPLETELY WENT DEAD, THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP PREVENTING THE TOW COMPANY FROM LOADING THE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK, THE CAR WAS MANUALLY MANIPULATED TO RELEASE THE SYSTEM INTO NEUTRAL. THE CARS ELECTRONIC DASH BOARD COMPLETELY GOES DEAD WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN 3 DEALERSHIPS OVER MORE THAN 1 MONTH, THE DEALERSHIPS CLAIM THEY HAVE REPLACED COMPUTER COMPONENTS, CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, OR 'JIGGLE THE WIRES'. THE CARS WARRANTY IS NEARLY UP, AND WE HAVE BEEN PRESSURED TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS PROVIDED US WITH A RENTAL CAR, AND CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, THAT IS WHEN THE CARS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR IS A COMPLETE HAZARD. MY HUSBAND HAS THE REPAIR RECORDS ON FILE.

SINCE ABOUT 18K MILES ON VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN REPORTING ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTING, TRANSMISSION. NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY SUDDENLY THINK THEY KNOW WHAT WILL FIX IT. BUT I NOW HAVE TO PAY ALMOST $800 TO GET IT FIXED.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The “Check 4WD” warning light was illuminated, and the Auto START/STOP system failed to restart the vehicle. The contact would disengage the parking brake, place the vehicle in park, and restart the vehicle to continue driving. The failure was intermittent. The contact stated that water was leaking into the cabin from the sunroof, causing a shortage in the electrical system. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who had repaired the electrical system, including systems with the starter. The dealer confirmed that parts for the repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train) were unavailable. The contact was able to start the vehicle; however, the Auto START/STOP system needed to be disengaged to drive the vehicle. Additional repairs were made; however, the contact was unable to confirm what the additional repairs were. Some repairs were performed by another dealer, Jacksonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Arlington (9600 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32225). The contact stated that there was a rattling noise coming from the front end, and the vehicle would surge forward and take an extensive amount of time to come to a complete stop. The failures were intermittent. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who repaired the front suspension, ball joints, and steering knuckle on both sides of the vehicle. The mechanic advised the contact to return the vehicle if an oil leak occurred. The contact stated that approximately a month after the repairs were performed, there was liquid on the ground underneath where the engine compartment and the vehicle were taken to a certified mechanic, who had diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine filter housing and filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

In early 2021, the doorhandle on the driver's side of my car froze in minimal snow/freezing rain. The electronics in the doorhandle were corrupted, and broke. This cause a short in the system, making my car lock and unlock itself uncontrolled, thereby draining the battery. The car could not be jumpstarted for this reason because the battery was perpetually drained. It required being towed, and the remedy took several months. This is completely unreasonable, for a small freeze to totally "brick" an off-road vehicle because of a doorhandle issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power with the service shifter warning light illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and turned off. The vehicle was restarted, and the service shifter warning light disappeared. In addition, the contact stated that the dealer could not diagnose the failure; however, the navigation system was not working correctly, and requested that the driver drive through a body of water. The contact also confirmed that the navigation system was providing incorrect information. The failure reoccurred. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

A week ago, I went to my local garage that I trust for a completely different reason than I ended up leaving with. I have a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. I have less than 62,500 miles on this vehicle. I do not tow anything. I do not go off road. I do not ride down trails or do anything out of the ordinary. I live in the Boston area. What I found when I was at the garage was an issue that the garage couldn't fix. I needed a rear differential unit replace. Jeep discontinued the Jeep Cherokee this year. What a coincidence because the differential unit isn't available. It's been on back order all year based on what I see online. I spoke to someone at a service department today. He told me it has been on back order, there are 150 ish that have been requested. There are 8 ready for deployment in July. So I will have 140+ people ahead of me for this thing that doesn't exist on a vehicle they no longer make. Today I went to a Jeep dealership and they looked at the unit and said at some point it's going to break and I'll lose control of my vehicle. They've seen this issue in the past and its not pretty and told me I should trade it in immediately. I have a vehicle with 62,500 miles that is essentially totaled . It will become inoperable in a matter of months, if not weeks. Even if they get the part, they told me it would be $3,500 for the part, plus another $1,500 for labor, plus likely the axle needs to be replaced, plus another part and it's likely $8,000 to fix it all. And it could be 6-12 months before they can fix it. I get it, it's sexy to chase the airlines. The headlines are great. Vehicles is another story. That's not a sexy storyline. But Jeep is taking someone who FINALLY paid off this vehicle this month and is forcing me to buy a new vehicle. I don't get to use insurance on my totaled vehicle. Jeep is forcing me into trading this vehicle in by not producing parts. Vehicle was inspected today. No warning lamps. It was found by mistake.

Last week we noticed steering wheel controls not working, steering wheel heater .. cruise control ,, hands free,controls Today took in to Jeep dealer In superior Wi was told it is the Clock Spring , squib,, said that we have to replace entire unit including new airbag .. as we do not know for sure if until the work done ,air bag would deploy as per dealer ,he isn't 100 percent sure. ,and the entire thing has to be replaced at a hefty cost of 1000.00 as well as safety , being told that other larger trucks and Jeep models have had this as a recall I contacted JEEP and they said nothing they can do ,, but to hang on to receipts in the event of a future recall.. we do not feel that they are treating this as the safety issue that it truly is . This is after we have had rear driver caliper replaced over heating and seizing , at 800.00. also been told this is common for Jeep and another safety issue as well . The dealer said both are recall worthy on this vehicle .this has been all within 50 -60,000 miles.. We feel something needs to happen here before someone gets killed. Thank You

Service shifter notification comes on, all lights on shifter light up. I’ve had it “fixed” 2 times under warranty and it continues to do it. Owned since 2017 and this has happened more times than I can remember. Dealership has little answers. Eventually car will begin sputtering, all service lights come on, you lose control of brakes and steering and have to pull over. Turn off, take key out, open door. Let it sit. In the beginning of July, the parking brake engaged on its own and a warning came up on the dash. It took some jockying to get the brake to disengage but it continued to happen. We took it to the dealer where purchased who told us that the parking brake control module was damaged by water and that bedause of this the extended warranty that we purchased for a few thousand dollars would not cover it (even though we were told it covered everything). The dealer wanted $2000 to fix it. I took the Jeep to a qualified mechanic whom I deal with, and he replaced the the control unit. We picked up the car and a week or so later the brake came on again. We took it back to the mechanic who dug deeper and found out that the body of the car was leaking, and water had run down and into the control unit again. It is now November (going on five months!) and we still do not have the car back because he is waiting for the part to come in. I'm a pretty patient person but this is ridiculous. I'm paying for a car that I haven't had for five months and then I'm told this is a common issue with Jeeps and no warranty will cover it. I sincerely beleive this should be arecall issue by Jeep. Especially when they cannot get me a part to fix it for months! Any help you can render is much appreciated. Thanks

Turn into our street, windshield whippers came on. Fuse blown, take out still stay on. Kept changing them, Fuse kept blowning. Replace mod with turn single, wheel part. Pic sent. Worked two weeks, did it again. Now they are saying it's the radio is pulling to much, relay needs to be replace the radio. Which mileage, radio, back up camera, whatever else is connected together causing the problem. This safety problem because back up could hit someone or something, whippers just coming on scared, hurting window, windshield whippers it self if dry out. This should be recall and concern. I don't understand why this not. Jow it's taken so long figure out problems at car place. They took the suv apart still cant figure problem out. the infotainment screen flashes a warning on red screen "911 Car Phone malfunction contact dealer". It has done this intermitently for the past couple of weeks. A few times I've started the vehicle and the screen is black, no back up camera, no a/c, no back up warning tone (I back up the vehicle from parking spot using the mirrors and the screen comes on a few minutes after vehicle is moving). I am concerned because I don't know what else isn't working and if something electrical will fail while driving. A couple of weeks ago I made an appt with the local jeep dealer and today was told I need a new radio at the cost of at least $1250 (the dealer has ordered a new radio could take a couple days to a few weeks he wasn't sure). When researching this problem online I saw numerous compaints similar to mine but I don't know if anyone has reported the issue to the NHTSA because the dealer states its a bad "radio" ...but if the 'radio' controls the backup camera, the climate controls and other functions on the screen it seems like more than just a radio problem to me. The vehicle has 55,000 miles so the screen hasn't been used excessively like a vehicle used for long distance daily commutes.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact placed the gear shifter in the park and the restart message was displayed. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. While making a turn, the vehicle was difficult to steer. Additionally, the key fob was inoperable. There was an abnormal rattling sound detected. While driving, the vehicle was swaying. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were flashing. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that a wiring harness was loosened. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

This vehicle is designed to be a flat tow vehicle for a class a motorhome. No one made me aware of the death wobble and this caused an accident which could have been deadly. We did 13,000 dollars in damages to my motorhome and jeep. After hours of research i found this to be a common problem from Jeep. i contacted the local jeep service department and they were not aware of this. Come to find out there is a jeep part to correct the problem, at a cost of $286.39 and a labor charge of $460.00 to install. If jeep is aware of this problem, why are they not advising the public to not flat tow this jeep until the necessary parts are installed. There is nothing in the manuals regarding this problem!

1) Engine turns off while driving the vehicle and the dash tells me to shift it into park. After the car is stopped and shifted into park it makes a starting noise as if you are trying to start the vehicle as if it is flooded, but it will eventually start after approximately 30 seconds. After approximately 30 seconds the vehicle starts sometimes without even pushing the start button. 2) The vehicle dies often when turning, driving over small amounts of snow, backing up, or exerting the engine at all. It usually does not shut off while driving straight down the road without exerting any energy unless there is snow causing the engine to exert any energy. This has caused safety risks to me and others in the following manner: a) It has caused me to stall while turning onto the highway from side streets which I have narrowly avoided being t-boned and side impacted. This can cause injury or death to myself, my passengers, pedestrians, and traffic. b) It has caused my vehicle to stall while on the roadway when it exerts energy due to snow and causes me to spin the vehicle out of control in traffic which can cause injury or death to myself, my passengers, pedestrians, and traffic. c) It has cause me to stall while backing out, or pulling out of parallel parking with traffic which can cause injury or death to myself, my passengers, pedestrians, and traffic.

Service Air Bag Light came on three different times when turning left. The third time it came on the vehicle died in the middle of an intersection and dashboard lights lit up. Took vehicle to Dealer, they said there were codes and a star case S1808000180, they tore apart center console. Did not find a problem, they test drove car and said no more codes. I picked up vehicle and after driving approx. 30 miles home, service air bag light came on again while stopped at light and car died. Car was towed to second dealer, codes popped up U0103, U11DE, U0002, U1465, C10CD. Dealer did not know how to fix. Called Jeep customer cares. Car has been out of service since May 13, 2022. Going to a third dealer on June 9, 2022.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the front end of the vehicle and the steering wheel would violently shake and vibrate while depressing the brake pedal. The contact indicated that the check engine warning light was illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the passenger’s side and driver side front wheel ball joints were damaged. The passenger’s side ball joint was more severely damaged. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer who confirmed the diagnoses. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions. Safety hazards include stalling in middle of intersection and being stranded. Call out for service at this time, therefore problem has not been reproduced or confirmed. Not inspected yet. No police involvement. No warning light-including battery or engine light- upon initial start of vehicle. Battery and engine warning lights visible at time of stall. Battery was turning over but engine not engaging, however, able to restart vehicle after multiple attempts. No jump start required. Warning light disappeared after restart of vehicle and only reappeared upon subsequent stalls. No apparent issues- other than stalling- while vehicle is driven. Problem has been very inconsistent.

WE PURCHASED A USED 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE (LESS THAN 13,000 MILES) FROM A DEALERSHIP IN COLORADO SPRINGS ON 10/17. ON THE WAY HOME, ABOUT 100 MILES, THE STOP /START WARNING LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT WENT ON ABOUT 8 MILES FROM HOME GOING APPROX. 50 MPH. WE DECIDED TO GET IT HOME. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVEWAY, WE PLACED THE CAR IN REVERSE AND NOTICED THAT POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. WE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND AT RESTART, THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE RESET. WE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND THEY RECOMMENDED CHANGING OUT BATTERY. WE DROVE ABOUT 15 MILES TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND BOUGHT THE BEST BATTERY THEY HAD FOR THAT VEHICLE. WE DID NOT USE THE JEEP FOR THE NEXT DAY (FRIDAY). SATURDAY 10/19 WE DROVE IT DOWN TO DENVER (ABOUT 60 MILES) WITH NO PROBLEM. ON THE WAY HOME, AGAIN THE STOP /START WARNING LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT WENT ON GOING APPROX. 60 MPH. WE DROVE TO A PARKING LOT AND MADE A TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT. AT THAT POINT POWER STEERING WAS OPERABLE. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN IN REVERSE AND THEN NOTICED NO POWER STEERING, I PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE AND AGAIN NO POWER STEERING. I HAVE A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE. PURCHASED APRIL 2018 WITH 17 MILES ON IT. IN NOVEMBER 2018 THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS "FIXED." JUNE 26, 2019 (28,670 MILES ON MY CAR) I WAS DRIVING TO WORK GOING 35 MPH WHEN MY ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THIS HAPPENED I HAD BEEN HEARING A DINGING NOISE, LIKE WHEN YOUR SEATBELT IS OFF (JUST ONE DING THOUGH) AND SOMETHING WOULD FLASH ON MY DASH. IT WAS SO QUICK I WAS UNABLE TO SEE WHAT IT SAID. I STARTED VIDEOING MY DASH TO TRY TO CATCH THE ALERT. I HAVE VIDEO OF MY DASH AS THE ENGINE STOPPED AND ME TRYING TO RESTART MY CAR. (UPLOADED PICTURES OF THE SERVICE SHIFTER BUT IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD THE VIDEO) IT TOOK ME 10-15 MINUTES TO GET IT STARTED BACK UP. DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THAT MY JEEP WAS A QUART LOW ON OIL AND THAT IT WAS A "SAFETY FEATURE" THAT IF YOU'RE LOW ON OIL YOUR ENGINE WILL JUST SHUT OFF....NO MATTER IF YOU'RE PARKED OR DRIVING 70 MPH! THAT IS INSANE!! HOW ABOUT AN "OIL LOW LIGHT" MY OIL LIFE PERCENTAGE STILL SHOWED 20% REMAINING AND I WAS SCHEDULING AN OIL CHANGE THE NEXT WEEK. AFTER READING MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS, JUST LIKE MINE, I REQUESTED THAT THEY CHECK THE SHIFTER AGAIN. THEY SAID THAT THE SHIFTER WAS FINE. I PICKED UP MY JEEP FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND DROVE 30 MILES HOME. I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITH THE PRND LIGHTS ALL LIT UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THIS MORNING, 06/27/2019 AND JUST GOT A CALL THAT THEY REPLACED THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING AND DID AN UPDATE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS EXACTLY LIKE MINE. THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. I DRIVE THE INTERSTATE EVERY SINGLE DAY. IF MY ENGINE SHUTS OFF GOING 70 MPH, IT WILL NOT BE A GOOD SITUATION.

THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AT AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. WHEN IT DID RESPOND THE VEHICLE JERKED INTO GEAR AND RPM'S ROSE QUICKLY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COSMETIC PANEL ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR THAT WENT FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE WINDOW, FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LANDERS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF NORMAN DEALER (405-321-8228, 481 N INTERSTATE DR, NORMAN, OK 73069) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

WHILE IN MOTION WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 65 MPH THE TRANSMISSION JERKED TWICE AND THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, STAYED THAT WAY AS IF THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK. I HIT MY BRAKES BECAUSE WE WAS LOSING SPEED AND WHEN STOPPED I TRIED TO PUT IN PARK BUT IT SOUNDED AS IF GEARS WAS GRI. DING I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE JEEP TO MAKE IT STOP REVVING. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 4 LANE AND COULD ONLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND ROW BACKWARDS INTO THE MEDIAN. I WAS UNABLE TO PUT BACK IN DRIVE WITH PUT GEARS GRINDING. I HAD BEEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MINS AT A SPEED OF 60-70 WHEN THIS HAPPENED. NO WARNING LIGHTS AND NOTHING ON THE DASH AT TIME OF ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE IS A VIBRATION BETWEEN 60 AND 80 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE HAD THE TIRES REPLACED, RIMS REPLACED AND NO CHANGE IN VIBRATION. IT HAS STARTED SINCE I OWNED THE VEHICLE WITH 7 MILES ON THE ODOMETER TILL TODAY WITH 9000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THIS IS NORMAL THROUGHOUT THE LINE OF CHEROKEES AND IS JUST "ROAD VIBRATION" BUT TALKING WITH OTHER OWNERS THIS IS NOT THE CASE AND THEY DO NOT EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING. IT DOES TEND TO FADE AWAY DURING LONG LEFT TURNS ON THE FREEWAY BUT APPEARS AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE STRAIGHTENS. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO GET THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THIS HAS RESULTED IN NO HEADWAY AS THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THIS IS NORMAL.

I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE. LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND ALL SUDDEN MY CAR MY PASSENGER SIDE RIM JUST SHATTERED AND POP 4 HOLES IN MY TIRE. THE TIRE WAS NOT MISSING ANY RUBBER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY WHEN I JUST THE CAR IN NOV. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP AND THE DEALERSHIP AND I GET THE SAME THING. YES MY TIRES AND RIMS ARE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY PLAN BUT NOT LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY UNLESS IT WAS A DEFECT. HOW CAN A RIM COMPLETELY EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE?
