Engine burning oil and the recall had to do with the engine burning oil and could cause engine fire while driving. It was under the recall list but the dealership said the time frame for the warranty expired it has been inspected by a auto shop and the said it needs a engine because the engine burned oil really fast and there where no warning

Vehicle started making a ticking noise under the hood. I immediately had it towed to a mechanics shop in town. They performed an inspection and said the ticking noise is from a Rod Bearing # 3 has come loose and the whole engine must be replaced. The car has only 108,000 miles. There were no check engine lights that came on either. I called Kia to see about getting a replacement engine from them and they informed me they no longer make that engine for that car anymore which is the 1.6 Liter Turbo Charged GDI 4 Cylinder Engine.

Took care to kis for a recall picked it up and got down the street and it died on me brought it back to Kia and was told it was okay just the oil filter took Kia home and changed oil and filter and car kept going dead would restart but the die again after driving for a little bit. The car kept going dead in middle of road interstate turning into lane across from on going traffic very unsafe. Took care back to Kia the scanned it and checked recall they did and said it was ok took car home again and same problem it now has a loud knock or chattering sound while driving.and it's still going dead. Took care back to Kia again and now they say there is internal engine failure and that I don't have the extended warranty because my mileage is just over the limit for regular warranty. And they will not offer goodwill either because the Internal engine failure. My car drove just fine no problems until I took it to them for the recall and now they say they can't help with nothing. With being disabled and a student I worked really hard to get this car and I need it to get to appointments school and therapy. This has taken away my transportation my happiness and my hard work And effort. It takes a lot to accomplish things being disabled and this makes it even harder. I want to give up most days being able to get to school gave me a purpose and I felt like I belonged. I feel it is only far to have another opinion and to have goodwill being the issue occured after the recall took place. Please help me get my car back and running I've given life and my education my all and my best with what circumstances I have to go through to make it through a day and not having the one things that I earned and worked so hard for taken away from me is really defeating and hard.

I had a crack in my windshield. I called Safelite to come out and replace my windshield tape got left behind on the windshield and the roof of my car. I removed the tape and it brought the paint with it. I’ve been contacted safe flight and they told me that there was a recall on the white paint for the Kia forte coupe 2015 therefore they are not liable for any repairs on the vehicle. Now the roof of my car has two places where it’s missing paint from tape being pulled from it.

When driving it suddenly won't pull a hill. It will slow down to 20-30 mph even on an interstate. I've had it in the shop several time and they can't find anything wrong. It did it again and I took it in and the mechanic told me there was a recall on the computer system but I can't find it. If there's a recall please let me know at [XXX] . Trunk leakage, affecting the inside carpet floor, front and back area and the back seat every time it rains. As a consequence mold forms (white spots of powder like/mold) I inform the dealership but they said that’s not in the recall list. And they ask to go to a body shop.

There is a way to remove a piece of the steering component and start the car with a USB (general - doesn't need to be any specific USB, can be an iPhone charger). There are many Kia's being stolen and damaged, some to the point of unrepair. This needs to be recalled ASAP. Many people are getting hurt. They call themselves the "Kia Boys" and it's now a social media trend to steal Kia's. The government needs to step in and force Kia to recall their vehicles with this capability before more people die because of this stupid trend. I'm answering the following questions with what I know from other reports from news; not to my actual vehicle.

Since 2019 I have been having an issue with unknown individuals hacking in to my car and verbally harrasing me while I'm driving. The have yelled at me and at times had clise calls due their disturbance. No matter how loud i raise the volume on the radio, they will yell louder at me. Calling me inappropriate names, talking inappropriatly to me, and multiple accusations, even though I don't know them. Help!

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated that after accelerating from a red light the driver-side airbag suddenly deployed. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the passenger side tire had also flattened. During the incident, the driver sustained an injured right arm. The contact indicated that no collision or frontend damage had occurred to cause the failure. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.

The contact's daughter owned a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 15 MPH, another vehicle going 40 MPH crashed into the passenger front side of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated his daughter sustained whiplash and was taken to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot, where it was totaled. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

I was driving today and upon braking trying to come to a four way stop, the brake pedal went to the floor with no stopping. My vehicle went through the 4 way stop endangering me and my passengers. The piston blew out where all fluid leaked over the place. This is dangerous.

Going down an incline the brakes can go to the floor. Usually if the pavement is a little bumpy. It’s like you loose all braking.

Kia issued recall to inspect/repair potential corrosion of brake lines. Dealer inspected car on 12/8/22 and advised repair/replacement was needed and parts would be order. Now almost 2 months later and still no part. Dealer states back ordered. Complaint filed with Kia customer service and no meaningful response. In fact other than acknowledging complaint no response whatsoever. Yet Kia advises this is a potential safety issue and should be repaired ASAP so as to avoid accidents/damage, etc.. Kia cannot or will not provided any information regarding parts availability and subsequent required repair. If transportation is needed we are forced to drive a vehicle with known safety issues because of manufacturers lack of response.

Received inspection letter dated 8/19/22 from Kia to inspect/replace if necessary brake line. First available appointment was 9/27/22. Inspection revealed a severely rotted brake line and invoice notation that vehicle is unsafe to drive. I contacted 3 other Kia dealerships and was given the familiar response that the parts are on back order with not estimate time for arrival. I contacted Kia customer service for a remedy but experienced hour long wait on hold only to be disconnected. Several attempts later customer service suggested I seek an off dealer shop and pay for the repair and be reimbursed by Kia. I was not able to get service through a third party either. I was assigned a case number 15188053 but no viable resolution.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 75,010 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was approximately 228,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal burning smell would emit throughout the vehicle without warning. The contact also stated that due to this failure, the brake lights would intermittently fail to operate as needed upon depression. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they discovered burnt wires in the electrical box and had the box replaced; despite the replacement, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CAR BATTERY A WEEK AGO, THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE, SPENT THE DAY OUT, WENT BACK TO MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT TURN ON. HAD TO CALL AAA TO GET A JUMP ON A BRAND NEW CAR BATTERY. WENT BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED THE BATTERY, THEY SAID IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY, THEY DID REPLACE IT AND RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY COULD NOT FINE AN ISSUE AND STATED IT MUST BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. WENT ABOUT MY DAY, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, THE CAR LIGHTS TURNED OFF ON THERE OWN, I HAD TO PULL OVER TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON SO THE LIGHTS WOULD WORK AGAIN. THE KIA HEADLIGHTS REGULARLY AND SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AND FLICKERED BACK ON WITH VARYING DURATION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION UNDER NORMAL USE. THIS WAS NOTICEABLE AT NIGHT WHEN EVERYTHING WAS DARK AND SUDDENLY THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WHEN WE NEEDED THEM AND QUITE OFTEN WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE TURNING SIGNAL WAS ACTIVATED WHICH IMPACTED THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE FOR BOTH THE PASSENGERS AND OTHER SURROUNDING CARS AND PEOPLE. DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH NO STREET LIGHTS ON A 2-LANE ROAD WITH INCOMING TRAFFIC, THEN PLANNING A TURN AND ACTIVATING THE TURNING SIGNAL CAUSED SOME CONCERNS TO BOTH THE KIA DRIVER AND THE INCOMING VEHICLES WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF AND CAUSED LOSS OF VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AT THE WRONG MOMENT. IT IS NOT GOOD TO NOT SEE AND NOT BE SEEN. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT INCREASED THE RISK OF ACCIDENT PARTICULARLY AT NIGHT. While driving on interstate 81 my transmission went out while going up a hill. I was almost rear ended by the driver behind me and while trying to get into the right lane I almost side swiped someone. This is the third time something has gone out on this car while I was driving. First the engine went out and when I contacted Kia and told them that my engine went out because of the same problem that their other cars have, they told me that there was nothing they could do. So I replaced it with my own money. A few months later the transmission goes while I'm driving. Almost causing an accident once again. Because Kia told me there was nothing they could do with my engine, I didn't even bother to call about the transmission. Once again, I replaced it with my own money. Now the same problem with the transmission has happened again and I can't put another transmission in this car. I still owe $8,500 on my loan and my car is basically a paper weight. I have made a complaint to you guys every time and nothing is being done about this. Every other Kia Forte's engine has been recalled except for mine. Something is going on with Kia cars and parts and it's leaving people in a really crappy position. I owe money on a car that I cannot drive. All because I bought a Kia. This situation is getting absolutely ridiculous. Someone needs to do something about this. It's not right that a company can have such an unreliable car and leave people in these types of situations. I have no other options here. There's nothing I can do. I hope you are the right organization to contact about this. I am done putting money into a car that is a death trap and a hazard to drive. If I do end up fixing the transmission and this happens again, I'm worried that the outcome is going to be worse. I've almost been in two accidents because of this faulty equipment. Hopefully someone does something before there's a third.

ON APRIL 2020 WE NOTICED THAT OUR 2015 KIA FORTE WAS MAKING LOUD, CLANKING NOISE. WE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. HERE IS THE PROBLEM IN HIS WORDS: * C/S THERE IS A NOISE IN THE ENGINE AREA, WORSE WHEN COLD. ENGINE HAS INTERNAL DAMAGE; UNCLEAR EXACTLY WHERE, BUT LISTENING TO A COLD START FROM UNDER THE CAR SEEMS TO INDICATE A ROD BEARING. REMOVING THE OIL PAN COULD HELP DIAGNOSE, BUT IT ISN'T RECOMMENDED AS A REPLACEMENT ENGINE IS THE BEST SOLUTION REGARDLESS. HE ADDED 2.5 QTS. OF OIL SINCE IT WAS BURING OIL. HE RECOMMENDED WE TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. WE CALLED THE DEALER TWICE TO SETUP AN APT. TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT. THE DEALER SAID WE DIDN'T NEED TO BRING IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN TWO CRASHES DUE TO THE FAILURE. *ON THE FIRST OCCASION, WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO PARK AND THEN LUNGED FORWARD AND STRUCK A POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, BUT THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, THE SAME SCENARIO OCCURRED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BANKING FACILITY AT AN UNKNOWN HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED AND POLICE REPORT NUMBER: [XXX] WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, BUT ALL THREE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS WERE TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL TO BE EVALUATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED TO KIA OF LINCOLN (1145 N 48TH ST, LINCOLN, NE 68504, 402-434-7000) AND THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT ONE OF THEIR SERVICE TECHNICIANS HAD HEARD OF THIS FAILURE OCCURRING PREVIOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. I recently inherited this car from my mother and it appears that the engine may have issues. There is a loud noise that comes from the engine intermittently. It is louder at times then other times. The oil level is fine and recent. I've done a lot of research and it appears this is a common problem for the 2.0 engine. I feel as though this could turn into a bigger scenario if something is not done for the lack of expense a person must put into these engines.

My car engine burns oil like crazy. I received a recall notice and brought my vehicle to Gary Rome Kia in Enfield. I brought it in with the check engine light on as it was on listed conditions for the recall and when i was told everything passed i still had a check engine light and excessive burning of oil. The engine is not working properly and wasn't rectified during the recall process. I am afraid with how much oil it is burning it may lead to a fire in the engine compartment. I have followed all of the usual recommended services and was not made whole during the recall event.

I HAVE HAD A 2015 KIA FORTE WITH THE GDI ENGINE IN IT. I HAVE BEEN PAYING ON IT FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW. I WENT TO THE STORE LAST NIGHT AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE STORE I HEARD A LOUD CLANKING NOISE. COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS NO OIL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE IT SERVICED REGULARLY. WAS RUNNING FINE, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS. WENT UP THE ROAD YESTURDAY IT WAS MAKING LOUD CLACKING NOISE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER. CALLED MY DAUGHTER AND SHE CAME TO THE LOCATION AND SAID I HAD NO OIL! EVEN THOUGH I JUST HAD IT CHANGED. WE PUT 4 QTS IN AND HAD IT TOWED HOME. PLZ HELP!!! WE HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS STILL UNDER FINANCING!! While driving the vehicle is completely shuts down without warning and stalls in the middle of traffic. It is a danger to safety do to risk of getting hit. There are no codes and no warnings. It starts back up but stalls again. I had it checked by a mechanic and even he couldn't figure out what is happening.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving 64 MPH, the vehicle jerked and vibrated, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle then stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. Multiple warning lights were illuminated. The contact was assisted with jumpstarting the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the battery light illuminated intermittently. The contact was able to pull into a gas station. The contact called his daughter, who went to the gas station and jumpstarted the vehicle. The contact stopped by Auto Zone to have the vehicle diagnosed, where it was diagnosed and DTCs: P2191, P0562, C1101, C1102, C1201, C1204, C1207, C1208, C1210, C1211, C1237, C1260, C1513, C1613, and C1688 were retrieved. In addition, the battery showed codes that fluctuated constantly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer pending an inspection. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that recently the low oil warning light was illuminated, and the fuel level was low; however, the oil level and fuel level were not low. The ABS, traction control, steering, and tire pressure warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the brake warning light failed to function as intended. The contact replaced the brake lights however, the failure persisted. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000.

Every few months my car won’t crank. I have to get it towed to the dealership. They normally change the spark plugs and it runs again. Recently, they changed the spark plugs but I was also told that I had an engine oil leak(which is very hazardous), oil is leaking onto my engine which is causing my spark plugs to burn out so quick. They claimed they didn’t know what was causing it and told me I would have to wait until my car breaks down completely before being able to know exactly what’s causing it. Informed me that changing the spark plugs is only a temporary fix and I would go through this process again(my car not cranking and spark plugs needing to be replaced).

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOOK A PICTURE AND TOLD ME HE WOULD SUBMIT IT TO HIS BOSS. I own a 2015 Kia Forte (VIN: [XXX] ) that experienced complete engine failure. The vehicle had been running normally until it began stalling and sputtering while driving. Shortly after, the engine would only run for 1–2 seconds before shutting off entirely. This exact issue mirrors those documented in previous recalls and class-action lawsuits involving Kia's 2011–2015 models with 2.0L and 2.4L engines. However, despite having the same failure and engine type, my VIN was excluded from the existing recall/warranty extension campaigns. Kia confirmed this is a known issue, but will not cover repairs. This failure occurred at approx. 180,000 miles. Engine failure without warning is a serious safety risk and financial burden. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA can review this issue and evaluate whether additional VINs — like mine — should be included in a broader investigation or recall. A case has been opened with Kia (Case #XXX), and full diagnostic documentation from a certified mechanic is available. The contact owns a 2015 Kia Forte. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic and was repaired; however, the failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the certified mechanic, and an unknown repair was completed. The contact was unsure of the repair that was completed. After having the vehicle repaired a second time, while attempting to accelerate, the instrument panel was flashing the check engine and the oil light warning lights. The vehicle decelerated, and there was black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power shortly afterwards. The failure had occurred three times. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic twice. The mechanic repaired the knock sensor and drained and replaced the engine oil and cleared the codes. The failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was taken to the mechanic, and was then towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the knock sensor had failed. The knock sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to a local dealer and was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter and spark plugs were faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the parts were replaced; however, soon after the repairs, while her husband was driving 40 MPH, the transmission started slipping and failed to shift properly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact’s husband was able to drive the vehicle to the residence and then the vehicle was towed to the same dealer for a second diagnostic test. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

Over the last 5 years that I have owned the vehicle, the engine will stall when idle or at low speeds. This has happened at stop lights, on hills and while on the highway (which is obviously very dangerous). The engine the vehicle has to be turned off and restarted and usually it will stall again within a few minutes. For the most part, this happens after the vehicle has been driven for at least 15-20 minutes and there are few issues at higher speeds. As such, when taken to the dealer, they have been unable to replicate the issue. The issue is sometimes resolved after an oil change, however it may recur before the next oil change is due (ie within 3 months). The vehicle has otherwise had it's recommended service Many internet searches note many vehicles of my model and many other Kia's with the exact same issue

THE NOISE IS VERY SEVERE ON THE 2015 FORTE AND IT IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE CAR. THE WIND NOISE AND THE VALVE PING MAKE THE CAR VERY LOUD. THE DEALER SAYS THAT SINCE KIA MOTORS AMERICA IS NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE, NOTHING CAN BE DONE. KIA MOTORS AMERICA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS BUT HAVE FAILED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT AS THEY ARE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE UPGRADING TO BETTER GAS, BUT THE NOISE STILL PERSISTS. KIA RECOMMENDS AND ADVERTISES REGULAR UNLEADED FOR THE FORTE, BUT A MORE EXPENSIVE PLUS OR PREMIUM GRADE IS NEEDED TO DECREASE THE SOUND OF THE PING. I purchased a 2015 Kia Forte5 car (Pearl White) used but I noticed the paint peeling. It seems to be getting worse because the same spot is getting bigger and now a new spot on the top has appeared. I took the car to a body shop and was told it was a factory paint defect. I went online and saw that Kia and Hyundai had a factory issue with the pearl white paint for several years around my car year model. I was wondering if the paint chipping can be fixed or me compensated for the repairs. The damage is on the rear hatch and passenger side top of car next to sunroof. My vehicle was broken into and there was an attempt to steal the car. I made a police report and they expressed that the car would have been driven recklessly and potentially crashed if it was stolen. The safety issues with KIA fortes have become a huge issue nation wide and the cars should be recalled to have standard security installed that a majority of other cars already have equipped.

I recently went to the dealership to get a diagnostic's test on December 22nd, 2021. I bought the car October 14th, 2020. My vehicle had a recall on it that was issued in December 2020 and they claim it was fixed a few years ago despite the car only being 5 years old. I believe they did not fix it and sold the car to me As-Is knowing they installed a faulty aftermarket part. From my understanding, Catalytic Convertors are supposed to last around 10 years but the car was only 5 years old at the time of purchase, meaning they replaced it prior to me buying the car. I went in and they claim my catalytic converter was no good and I would have to spend $1700 to replace it. I feel like it is a money grab where they clear the codes on the vehicle, sell it knowing there are issues with no warranty, and then wait for the customer to return to pay to fix the vehicle. I believe the recall was never repaired despite them saying they did as I am having a lot of the issues customers faced with the recall and I am genuinely concerned for my safety and finances as this car cannot pass an emissions test despite them claiming it passed (again, probably cleared the codes to pass). I feel like the vehicle needs to be relooked at and repaired by them since they sold it with aftermarket parts they installed when a Kia dealership should only be repairing and replacing with genuine parts manufactured by Kia, not a third party. Again, just because they sold it "As is" with issues they potentially created should be illegal and they need to be held accountable. I will report to BBB and an consumer attorney. The engine idles and the vehicle slows down and speeds up while driving. There is a gurgling and knocking sound while the engine idles.

The engine in my 2015 Kia Forte (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced failure tied to recall code P1326, which is associated with bearing wear and potential engine seizure. The vehicle entered limp mode around [XXX] at 152,170 miles, despite early signs of failure starting at 131,000 miles. These included loss of power, rough idle, and a check engine light (CEL) which triggered the P1326 code confirmed by both a pre-scan and Kia dealership. System that failed: The engine and powertrain system. Issue stems from rod bearing wear as identified in Kia’s engine class-action settlement. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: Limp mode drastically reduced engine power on a main road. I could not safely accelerate, which created a hazard in traffic. Additionally, oil loss was confirmed on multiple occasions, and misfire codes were detected. This could have led to engine stall or seizure if I continued driving. Was issue confirmed by a dealer or service center? Yes. Lupient Kia confirmed P1326 at 133,703 miles. Luther Kia later confirmed limp mode and conducted a diagnostic at 152,170 miles. Was vehicle/component inspected by others? Yes. Jiffy Lube documented "no oil on stick" at 130,367 miles. O’Reilly Auto and Economy Muffler later confirmed related secondary issues. Were there symptoms or warnings prior to failure? Yes. CEL appeared at 131,000 miles. Knock sensor was replaced at 131,165 miles. On approximately, 04/15/2024, 8:00 am, My 2015 Kia Forte with less 115,000 miles suddenly shut down going 65 MPH! A severe accident was avoided by manhandling the steering wheel to get it to the side of the road. When I called the Kia's Consumer Affair, to report the incident, I was told there was no recall on the motor so they were not labile. I am very frustrated, upset and stressed that Kia's doesn't care about it reputation.

I start to notice the lamp as well as a knocking sound in October of 2022 I was concerned so I took it to a local mechanic and was told that this particular model car was on a recall for engine fire hazard. He then advised me to call the dealership I purchased the vehicle from. I then called them to let them know what is going on with the car, the employee tells me they can't do the work and referred me to another dealership that's a larger facility. To my knowledge of doing research, I then found out that the engine can catch fire when shut off or in process of being driven so it's very dangerous regarding me and my family. I then called the dealership and they asked for my VIN number, they then tell me yes, this car has 3 different recalls that are showing, and I made an appointment to have it inspected on Jan 2 of 2023 and I took my car to the dealership, and they confirmed I need a new engine. They then told me they will not repair my vehicle. I've never gotten anything in the mail stating there was a recall on any of the parts for my KIA 2015 until the knocking from the engine and the lamp coming on and was told by a local mechanic that there's a recall on this model.

I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE STORE WHEN MY CARS ENGINE SEIZED SUDDENLY. I RECENTLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED IN 4/03/2020. NO PROBLEMS REPORTED AT THE OIL CHANGE APPOINTMENT. SO THE MORNING OF 6/21/2020. I STARTED THE CAR AND PROCEEDED TO LEAVE MY BOYFRIENDS HOUSE. AS SOON AS I MADE THE LEFT TURN OUT INTO THE STREET I HEARD THIS KNOCKING IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR I'M ASSUMING THAT WAS THE ENGINE THEN SUDDENLY ! THE CAR MADE THIS LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND I IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AS SOON AS I MADE THE LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE STREET THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AS IF THE CAR WAS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE ! I HAD TO GO AND AND LOOK FOR AN ENGINE TO REPLACE THE FAILED ENGINE. IT COSTS ME ALOOOOOOT OF MONEY ! I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. A FEW DAYS AGO MY AIRBAG LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD TURNED ON. WHEN I USED MY OBD TO CHECK FOR THE PROBLEM, IT SAID THE DRIVER SIDE RESISTANT WAS TOO HIGH. I WENT IN TO GET THE CAR CHECKED AT A KIA DEALERSHIP, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO CALL AND SEE IF WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE PARTS, IF NOT IT'LL BE OVER $600 PLUS $165 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR A PART OF A CAR I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER, AND ESPECIALLY TOO EARLY FOR A CAR THAT IS SAID TO BE A NEW MODEL. OUR OTHER CARS FROM OTHER MAKES THAT WERE PURCHASED IN 2010 AND 2012 DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AS MUCH PROBLEMS AS I DID WITH MY 2015 KIA FORTE IN THE 3 YEARS I'VE HAD IT. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY JERK WHETHER ON A HIGHWAY OR STREETS, IT DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN BUT IT HAS BECOME AN EVERYDAY THING, WHERE IT WOULD LAG/HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING. I CALLED KIA MANUFACTURER, I BELIEVE ON 07/05/19, CASE # 13251901 AND INFORMED THAT REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE EMISSIONS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THAT THERE WAS RECALL ON MY CAR AND ASKED HOW TO GET CAR REPAIRED. THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED TO TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALER AND THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE RECALL AND REPAIR. I CALLED KIA AND MADE AN APPT. FOR 07/18/19 SPOKE WITH DJ. KIA STATED THAT AN EMISSIONS UPDATE IN THE CAR COMPUTER WAS DONE, NO PAPERWORK WAS GIVEN TO ME. THE NEXT MORNING, WHILE GOING TO WORK, I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS SMOKING- A BIG CLOUD OF SMOKE AND THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO KIA AND 1ST SPOKE WITH DJ. THE SMOKE WAS LIGHTER BY THIS TIME BUT COULD BE SEEN. THEN, I SPOKE WITH KEVIN WHO STATED THAT THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SMOKING ANY LONGER. HE GOT ONE OF THE CAR TECHNICIANS TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH ME TO SEE IF IT WILL START BACK SMOKING, IT DID NOT, THE EMISSIONS IGHT WAS NOT SHOWING SO KEVIN STATED TO BRING IT BACK IF THE EMISSIONS LIGHT COMES BACK ON. ON 07/27/19, A STRONG SMELL OF ENGINE FUMES CAME THROUGH THE VENTS INSIDE THE CAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO KIA AND SPOKE WITH ROB AND LEFT MY CAR THERE, HE STATED THAT IT WAS A SMALL LEAK AND HE BELIEVED IT WAS THE GAS CAP SEAL AND HE RAN DIAGNOSTIC 3 TIMES BUT DID NOT HAVE CAP BUT WILL ORDER IT. LOUD SOUND AND BLACK SMOKE FROM REAR END OF THE CAR, ALL LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR STALLED. CALL SERVICE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD TO TURN CAR ON AND OFF, THAT THE COMPUTER HAD TO RESET. MADE A COMPLAINT TICKET WITH KIA MANUFACTURER REF#12976894 BUT HAS GOTTEN NO WHERE. IN ADDITION COMPLAINT WAS MADE 07/07/18 THAT WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A STOP AND THE GROUND SURFACE IS UNEVEN THE CAR WOULD JERK AND PROPEL FORWARD. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THAT IS HOW THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WORK. COMPLAINED TO KIA REGARDING THE MULTIPLE TIMES OF NEAR MISSED ACCIDENTS DUE TO MECHANICAL BRAKING SYSTEM AND CAR STALLS. AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR WITH ALL OF THE WARRANTY OFFERED, WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET KIA TO AGREE TO FIX THE TPS MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE SHOP AND REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED A SECOND TIME, AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE SUFFERED ANOTHER BLOWOUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A THIRD TIME AND THE CONTACT NOTED BLISTERING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRES. THE TIRES EXPERIENCED ANOTHER BLOWOUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE RECURRED A FOURTH TIME, AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE ALSO HAD A BLOWOUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAND OF THE TIRES VARIED, INCLUDING FIRESTONE, UHP, AND HANKOOK. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE'S RIMS WERE TOO LARGE AND THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH DISTANCE BETWEEN THE RIM AND THE ROAD, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND SOLD THE CONTACT THE FIRST NEW TIRE. A DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE. FIRESTONE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE TIRES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250.

THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AS I BACKED OUT OF MY GARAGE IN MARCH OF 2016. I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND BEGAN TO PUSH THE GAS TO BACK OUT. THE CAR ENGINE REVVED LOUDLY AND THE CAR SHOT OUT OF THE GARAGE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THINKING I POSSIBLY HAD MY FOOT ON THE WRONG PEDAL (EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE), I LOOKED DOWN AT MY FEET AND VERIFIED THAT MY FOOT WAS INDEED ON THE BRAKE AND NOT THE GAS PEDAL. I THEN PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STILL DID NOT SLOW DOWN; IT CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED. AT THIS POINT, I HAD GONE DOWN MY DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE STREET AND WAS IN MY NEIGHBORS' DRIVEWAY HEADED TOWARD THEIR HOUSE. THEN, I TRIED PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND THAT STILL DID NOT STOP OR EVEN SLOW DOWN THE CAR. IT JUST MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE. MY NEXT STEP WOULD HAVE BEEN TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT I HAD ALREADY HIT THE OUTSIDE WALL OF MY NEIGHBORS' GARAGE AND THAT IS WHEN THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED AND BEGAN IDLING NORMALLY. I TOWED IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID THEY RAN TESTS ON THE BRAKES, THROTTLE, ETC. AND FOUND NO ABNORMALITIES. WHEN I ASKED WHAT INFORMATION WAS GATHERED FROM THE CONTROL MODULE, I WAS TOLD THAT NO HISTORY CODES WERE SHOWN. SO, ACCORDING TO THEM THERE WAS NO RECORD OF ME BRAKING OR THE CAR ACCELERATING. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE. I ASKED TWICE FOR COPIES OF THE ACTUAL TESTS AND DATA THAT WAS DOWNLOADED FROM THE CONTROL MODULE, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE THEM. I WAS TOLD THE INFORMATION WAS TYPED WORD FOR WORD IN THE SUMMARY SECTION OF THE RECEIPT. I AM NOW LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR, SINCE I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS ONE AND EXPRESSED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE. HOW CAN THEY ALLOW A CAR BACK ON THE ROAD WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR WHY IT ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY? I'M BAFFLED BY THIS. UNFORTUNATELY, MY STORY IS NOT UNIQUE.
