THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY BOLT WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

2003 KIA SORENTO. CONSUMER STATES BOLT LOOSENED WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE AND BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMERS HUSBAND SOON DISCOVERED IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. HER HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AS HE EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, HE TOUCHED A BOLT, WHICH WAS EXTREMELY HOT, AND IT WAS THE SAME BOLT THAT WAS RECALLED, WHICH HAD BECOME LOOSE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AT A COST OF $6,000 EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE REST OF THE ENGINE. THE CONSUMER WANTED THE BOLT TO BE RE-THREADED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER, THEY DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT, TO PERFORM THE RE-THREAD OF THE BOLT, BUT INSTEAD OF NEEDING A NEW ENGINE, THEY COULD REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT AT A COST OF $3,500. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED LATER WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH.THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY HAD YET AGAIN, DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

IT IS BEYOND ME HOW KIA MOTORS CAN GET AWAY WITH TELLING A BUNCH OF AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERS, THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THERE VEHICLES SPITTING BACK GASOLINE ONTO A PERSON AND KIA MOTORS TELLING THEM IT'S AN AIR FILTER. I TOOK MY2003 KIA SORENTO BACK TO THE DEALERS THINKING I WAS GOING TO GET A NEW CHARCOAL FILTER WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE I RECEIVED A $20 AIR FILTER FOR THE CHARCOAL CHAMBER WHICH HAD NO PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH. I STILL HAVE A 2003 KIA SORENTO THAT SPITS FUEL BACK ON TO ME AND I"M WAITING FOR THE DAY SOMEONE THROWS A CIGARETTE BUTT AT ME AND I CATCH FIRE< BECAUSE I WILL OWN KIA OF AMERICA AND A WEALTHY LAWSUIT AGAINST THE NATIONAL TRAFIC SAFETY PANEL. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE IN SEPTEMBER 2011. HOWEVER, WHEN SHE CONTACTED KIA REGARDING REIMBURSEMENT, SHE WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NO RECALL OF THAT NATURE. KIA INFORMED THE CONSUMER SHE WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE DEFECT. THE CONSUMER STATED HER VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERABLE, DUE TO THE FACT, SHE COULD NOT GET MORE THAN ONE GALLON OF GASOLINE INTO THE TANK WITHOUT IT SPRAYING BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER FALLING APART AND BLOCKING THE AIR FLOW IN CLOSE VALVE, VENT FILTER AND ROLL OVER VALVE. VERY FRUSTRATING , AND DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FUEL GETS ON MY SKIN & CLOTHES, THE VEHICLE, AND AT TIMES LEAVES A HUGE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND WHICH COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD. For some reason, KIA has halted production of the Air Bag Clock Spring mechanism for 2003 Kia Sorento's EX with cruise control. In my opinion, this was a vital component of the Air Bag safety system for any vehicle. So why the halt in the production of this vital part. Kia part #93490-3E160. Maybe the NHTSA can get an answer to this. I'm sure I not the only one driving a 2003 with the Air Bag light illuminated.

I PURCHASED MY 2003 KIA SORENTO WITH 17,000 MILES ON IT. I AM THE SECOND OWNER. SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS CAR, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE AND/OR RESURFACE MY ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT LEAST 6 TIMES IN TWO YEARS. I HAVE TALKED TO TWO KIA DEALERSHIPS (ONE IN CLARKSVILLE, TN - THE OTHER IN MEMPHIS, TN) AND BOTH LIED TO ME AND SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE THAT TYPE OF PROBLEM EVER. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO TWO OTHER MECHANICS THAT I TRUST AND THEY HAVE TURNED MY ROTORS, REPLACED MY ROTORS WITH GENUINE KIA PARTS AND NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP. JUST THIS WEEK, I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR IN AGAIN. AT THAT TIME, MY MECHANIC TALKED TO OUR LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP, WHO THEN TOLD HIM THAT THEY NOW SEE THIS PROBLEM FREQUENTLY. I AM TIRED OF SPENDING MY OWN MONEY ON THIS PROBLEM THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A KIA DEFECT. KIA KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. I WILL NEVER BUY A KIA AGAIN. I ONLY WISH I HAD RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I BOUGHT MY CAR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THIS AND THEY BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN JUST TO DO THE BACK ALL OVER AGAIN, BUT I WAS WARNED THAT IF IT GOES AGAIN I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THIS REPLACED BOTH FRONT/BACK AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME. WELL GUESS WHAT ????? WE HAVEN'T EVEN PUT 8,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT'S GOING ON A SPELL AGAIN. I HAD JUST PURCHASED MY 2003 KIA SORENTO ON FEBRUARY 23 2013 FROM A LOCAL USED CAR DEALER. THE CAR HAD 85,000 MILES AT TIME OF PURCHASE. IT WAS DRIVING FINE UNTIL MARCH 31, 2013. AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND THEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING ALMOST GOING INTO MY NEIGHBORS DITCH. AS SOON AS MY CAR HAD OVERHEATED DUE TO THE LEAK, I HAD TO PAY AROUND $100 TO BUY A NEW TANK FROM THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP BUT ALAS AFTER OVER HEATING MY CAR DEVELOPED MORE PROBLEMS AND ENGINE HAVING TO BE THROWN OUT. THE BOLT BROKE OFF IN HALF INSIDE THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY AND THE OTHER HALF OF THE BOLT WAS INSIDE THE CRANK SHAFT CASE. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING BECAUSE THE CAR DIED AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO SERVICE GARAGE WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT HAD BECOME LOOSE CAUSING THE HARMONIC BALANCER PULLEY TO WOBBLE, BREAK AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO ALL SURROUNDING ENGINE COMPONENTS. $1700.00 REPAIR DID NOT WORK AND ISSUE RECURRED. AFTER A SECOND REPAIR ATTEMPT, SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN THIS TIME WITH THE CRANKSHAFT BOLT HAVING SHEERED OFF. VEHICLE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, IS NOT DRIVABLE AT THIS TIME, AND WILL THIS TIME COST MINIMALLY $3500.00 FOR A REPLACEMENT MOTOR....AND POTENTIALLY A LIFE. POWER BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE WHILE GOING 15 MPH. TOOK VEHICLE TO SERVICE CENTER. THEY REPORTED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND BRAKE SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY. ONCE THE BRAKE LINE WAS PERFORATED IT COMPLETELY RENDERED ALL BUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE INOPERABLE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STOP USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BECAUSE OF THE LOW RATE OF SPEED. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED (E.G. 65 MPH) IT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. ALL BRAKE LINES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $670. I'VE OWNED MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME WITH SIMILAR AGE AND MILEAGE, BUT HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKE LINES RUST THROUGH. I LIVE IN A NORTHERN CLIMATE (NY STATE), BUT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. THE PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVE SHAFT HAS NOT YET BEEN RESOLVED AS IT STILL CONTINUE TO VIBRATE AT SPEEDS HIGHER THAN 65 MPH. THE SORENTO SUV WAS BOUGHT IN JUNE 2003. WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES IN JUNE 2003 THE SORENTO WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE TO CHECK AN OIL LEAK ON THE FRONT AXLE. THE DEALER CITED AN OVERFILLED GEAR OIL AND THE GEAR OIL LEVEL WAS CORRECTED. AFTER FEW WEEKS, IN JULY 2003, THE SORENTO WAS BROUGHT BACK AGAIN TO THE SAME DEALER BECAUSE THE GEAR OIL LEAK WAS STILL THERE. THE DEALER KEPT THE SORENTO, CITED NON-DRIVABLE AND HAVE TO ORDER THE PART. THE GASKET WAS REPLACED AND SORENTO WAS TEST DRIVEN. THE GEAR OIL LEAK STILL SHOWED UP. NOW THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY GOT HOLD OF KIA AND CITED THAT THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE BLEEDER TUBE. THE BLEEDER TUBE WAS REPLACED AND THE GEAR OIL LEAK DID NOT GO AWAY. AT THIS TIME, THE WHOLE UNIT OF THE FRONT DRIVE AXLE WAS ORDERED AND REPLACED THE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED UNIT OF THE SORENTO. AT FIRST THE KIA DEALER SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE COOLANT RESERVOIR CRACKING AND GOING EMPTY. SINCE THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE ENGINE'S ACTUAL MEANS OF COOLING, THEY CHANGED THEIR STORY TO THE THERMOSTAT FAILED. KIA SAID THAT THIS PORTION OF THE WARRANTY PASSED AT 65,000 MILES. I HAVE READ OTHER REPORTS OF A RUSTED OUT SUPPORT FRAME ON THIS SITE. WILL THE MANUFACTURER REPLACE THIS FRAME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HARMONICA BALANCE IN THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HARMONICA BALANCE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE REAR AXLE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE WELDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, WHILE AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE SERVICE, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

I HAVE SERVICE RECORDS SHOWING I HAD THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REPLACED AT 55,000 MILES UNDER WARRANTY BY KIA. THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BROKE OFF AT 105,000 MILES. I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED COST $1500 OUT OF MY POCKET. ON 1/11/2015 THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BROKE OFF FOR A 3RD TIME, SHEARING THE THREADS TO THE ENGINE, AND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO NO LONGER WORK. THE BOLT ON THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY AS WELL AS THE PIN BROKE OFF CAUSING THE MOTOR TO STOP AND OVERHEAT DUMPING ALL THE ANTIFREEZE AND STOPPING ALL BELTS. MY MOTHER COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED WHILE DRIVING BUT IT ENDED UP BEING SHE WAS JUST BLOCKING TRAFFIC THANKFULLY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT AND PIN. KIA SAYS THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 KIA SORENTO. WHILE EXITING THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE BRAKES ENGAGED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CORROSION THAT FRACTURED THE SUBFRAME AND DAMAGED THE BRAKE LINES. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE CENTER SECTION OF THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE CUT AND REPLACED. THE SUBFRAME WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.

LAST FEB. THE COOLANT RESERVOIR CRACKED, LOST ALL COOLANT. TOWED TO DEALER. THEY FIXED IT AND TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW BELT. I PURCHASED A 2003 EX KIA SORENTO IN JUNE 2003. ON JULY 13,2003 THE AIR BAG LIGHT SYSTEM CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BARRON KIA. THEY STATED THEY REPLACED THE AIR BAG MODULE. IT TOOK FIVE DAYS TO REPAIR. ON NOVEMBER 11, 2003 THE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT BACK ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BARRON KIA ON THE 14TH. IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER SIX DAYS. THEY STATED IT WAS THE LOJACK ALARM SYSTEM THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. IT WAS FIXED. ON NOVEMBER 29,2003 THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO BARRON KIA ON DECEMBER 3, 2003, IN ORDER FOR A LOJACK TECHNICIAN TO REMOVE THE ALARM AND FOR BARRON KIA TO FIX AND RUN TEST ON THE AIRBAG. THE CAR WAS THERE 11 DAYS AND SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED FOR ALL AIRBAG POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. ALL TEST CAME BACK NORMAL. ON JANUARY 19, 2004 THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT BACK ON. THE CAR WAS ONCE AGAIN TAKEN TO BARRON KIA ON THAT DAY. AT THIS POINT, THE ALARM IS DISCONNECT AND THE AIR BAG CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE AND INDICATING THAT THERE MAY BE A MALFUNCTION WITH THE SAFETY SYSTEM WITH THE CAR. THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT BARRON KIA (HAS BEEN THEIR 7 DAYS NOW) AND IS AWAITING THE INSTALLATION OF ANOTHER AIRBAG MODULE. I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM ORLANDO, FLORIDA AFTER PICKING UP MY DAUGHTER WHO TRAVELLED DOWN FROM UF IN GAINESVILLE - 1ST WEEKEND IN SEPTEMBER, 2015. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN THE BATTERY AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AND THE POWER STEERING STOP WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY BOLT WAS HOLDING TOO MUCH WEIGHT CAUSING IT TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

I BOUGHT A 2003 KIA SORENTO ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO AND I'VE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS. THE WORST AND MOST RECENT PROBLEM IS THE GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK EVERY TIME I TRY TO FILL IT. IT RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ON MY WHEEL. SOMETIMES IT GETS ON ME. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW. I HAVE HAD MY 2003 KIA SORENTO SINCE MARCH 2010. IT WAS PURCHASED WITH 32,000 MILES ON IT, AND AS OF THE END OF OCTOBER 2010, IT HAD 36,000 MILES. SO FAR, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE COOLANT RESERVOIR, BECAUSE IT WAS CRACKED. I WAS DRIVING, AND IT OVERHEATED OUT OF NOWHERE. ALL THE MECHANICS STATED THAT'S ONE OF THE FEW THINGS THEY NEVER HAVE TO REPLACE ON ANY VEHICLE, AND CERTAINLY NOT AT 36,000 MILES. ANYWAY, DUE TO OIL LEAKING ONTO THE TIMING BELT, THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED ALSO. THE TIMING BELT WAS IN FINE CONDITION OTHERWISE. CONSEQUENTLY, I NOW HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS. I'M SURE THE ENGINE WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED FROM OVERHEATING AND THEN HAVING NO OIL. AT HIGH RPMS, YOU CAN HEAR A SLIGHT TICK, WHICH I'M PRETTY SURE IS A LIFTER ISSUE. HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT QUICKLY. I PURCHASED MY 03 KIA SORENTO IN 2004 AND HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES SINCE THEN. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE LIGHTS FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK NUMEROUS TIMES. I'VE BEEN DRIVING DOWN OUR REMOTE COUNTRY ROAD AT NIGHT AND HAD MY HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. MY COOLANT TANK CRACKED AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON ANOTHER COUNTRY ROAD IN THE SNOW LAST YEAR. I LATER FOUND OUT IT WAS RECALLED FOR THAT PARTICULAR DEFECT; AFTER I HAD IT REPLACED. THE LIGHTING ISSUE IS MY BIGGEST CONCERN RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF WHERE I LIVE (REMOTE COUNTRY ROADS, DEER AT NIGHT, ETC) I HAVE TO HAVE PROPERLY FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHTS AT ALL TIMES. NOW, I AM HAVING PROBLEMS CONCERNING THE BEARINGS ON IT. IT MAKES A HORRIBLE SCREECHING NOISE THAT IS NOW; ALMOST CONTINUOUS. IT DOESN'T MATTER THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE, DRIVING CONDITIONS, ETC. I HAVE A 2003 KIA SORENTO. AS I LEFT THE GARAGE AT MY OFFICE AROUND 6 P.M. MONDAY 11/16, THE CAR BEGAN MAKING A HORRIBLE SQUEALING NOISE. IT IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER STEERING, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND IT FELT LIKE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ON (IT WASN'T). I MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE GARAGE TO A SPACE ON THE STREET. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD IT TOWED TO A SERVICE STATION, WHICH SAID THE CAR HAD THROWN ITS DRIVE BELTS AND THAT IT NEEDED A NEW CRANKSHAFT BALANCER PULLEY, CRANKSHAFT SPROCKET, CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT AND CRANKSHAFT PULLEY WASHER TO FIX THE UNDERLYING CAUSE. I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THOSE PARTS. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2007 AND MY CAR WAS SERVICED AT THAT TIME AS ORDERED BY KIA. KIA SAID TUESDAY THAT THEY WOULD ONLY CONSIDER PAYING FOR NEEDED REPAIRS IF I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP. I HAD IT TOWED TO KING KIA IN GAITHERSBURG, MD., AT MY EXPENSE. THE SERVICE WRITER, WAYNE JOHNSON, TOLD ME THAT THE GARAGE THAT HAD PUT MY NEW TIMING BELT ON HAD LEFT A BOLT LOOSE. HE TOLD ME HIS MECHANIC PUT THE THREE DRIVE BELTS BACK ON. HE TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY (THOUGH THE CURRENT BATTERY WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD) BECAUSE THE CURRENT ONE WASN'T HOLDING A CHARGE. I TOLD HIM TO PUT ONE ON. I OWN A 2003 KIA SORENTO LX. I USED IT MAINLY TO GO FROM HOME TO WORK. THIS HAPPENED 2 DAYS AGO, MARCH 16, 2006, AT 32247 MILES. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A STOPLIGHT, I HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, IT WOULD NOT LET ME STOP IT AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL, IT KEPT TURNING SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT, AND I LANDED ON THE SIDEWALK. LUCKILY, IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS JUST ENTERING MY NEIGHBORHOOD, GOING AT MODERATE SPEED, AND THERE WERE NO CARS BESIDES OR BEHIND ME. I HAVE PLACED THIS CAR IN THE SHOP FOR NUMEROUS REPAIRS SINCE ITS PURCHASE IN 2003 AND HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS AMOUNTS OF MONEY ON VARIOUS PROBLEMS, INCLUDING REPLACING THE BULBS, REPAIRING THE BRAKS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, THE AIR BAG SENSOR REMAINS ON AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. ELECTRICAL FAILURE,COOLING SYSTEM FAILURE,ROUGH RUNNING-ENGINE MISFIRE PURCHASED CAR 2-22-2003 BRAND NEW THIS CAR HAS SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THE DEALERS LIFT. ALSO HAS SEEN ITS SHARE OF TOW TRUCKS. IN THE PAST 1 1/2 YEARS I HAVE REPLACED 18 LEFT SIDE HEADLIGHTS,23 RIGHT SIDE HEAD LIGHT ,16 FOG LIGHTS,8 LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS AND 6 TAIL LIGHTS THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO 3 DEALERS AND THEY ALL SAY ITS EITHER NORMAL OR IT'S ONLY BECAUSE I DID NOT BUY THE BULBS FROM KIA WELL SOME I DID AND THEY DO NOT LAST EITHER. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN THEY HAD THE TRUCK FOR 9 1/2 MINUTES AND TOLD US THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND FOR $149.00 THEY WILL PUT IN A NEW BULB. NO WARRANTY ON HOW LONG IT WILL LAST..... THE TRUCK ALSO MISFIRES AND THE DEALER ALSO CANNOT FIX IT THEY SAY THE COMPUTER SAYS ITS GOOD SO IT MUST BE GOOD. WELL YOU CAN FEEL THE MISFIRE EVEN THE DEALERS MECHANIC STATED IT IS MISFIRING BUT HE CANNOT FIX IT MAYBE AFTER THE WARRANTY IS OVER WE WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM..... WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE BLEW OUT THE FIRST TIME ON 10-04-04. IT WAS REPLACED AND IT BLEW AGAIN ON 01-21-05. THE VEHICLE IS ON ITS THIRD ENGINE. *AK THE KEY BECAME STUCK IN THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS HAD TRANSMISSIONS AND ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE DAMAGED. THE FOG LIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE. *JB

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE TO WORK. FOR THE PAST 2 TO 3 DAYS, I NOTICED SOME NOISE FROM MY ENGINE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A LOOSE BELT. NO PROBLEM, I COULD REPLACE IT ON THE WEEKEND. ON THE WAY TO WORK, MY POWER STEERING WENT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT FLICKERED ON AND OFF. I DIDN'T WANT TO BE STUCK ON A BACKROAD IN MAINE WITH NO CELL SERVICE SO I CONTINUED, SLOWLY, TO WORK. AFTER REACHING WORK, I HAD THE 24 HOUR SERVICE TOW MY KIA SORENTO TO THE NEAREST DEALER. THIS VEHICLE IS 18 MONTHS OLD AND THEY TELL ME THE BOLT HOLDING THE CRANKSHAFT TO THE PULLEY HAS SHEARED OFF. THEY CANNOT REMOVE THE BOLT PIECES FROM THE CRANKSHAFT AND HAVE TO REPLACE IT. TO TOP IT OFF, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON, FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THE RADIO HAS BEEN REPLACE TWICE. *LA

ON SATURDAY, APRIL 3, 2004, MY 2003 KIA SORRENTO WAS PARKED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY DRIVEWAY WHILE I MOVED THE LAWN. AFTER RETURNING MY LAWN MOWER TO THE GARAGE, I GOT INTO THE SORRENTO TO MOVE IT BACK INTO THE GARAGE. AFTER I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT INTO DRIVE, IT ACCELERATED RAPIDLY, PULLED ME THROUGH THE GARAGE AND THROUGH THE BACK WALL, WHICH IS SOLID BRICK. I WENT THROUGH MY FRONT YARD, AND THE ONLY REASON I STOPPED WAS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WENT OVER SOME BOULDERS AND DOWN AN INCLINE, CAUSING THE BACK WHEELS TO COME OFF THE GROUND. I ALSO HIT A TREE IN MY FRONT YARD. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK

BOUGHT 2003 SORENTO JULY 1, 2003. SOON AFTER THE BACK BRAKES OR SOMETHING AFTER BRAKING WOULD "CLUNK". WHETHER IS WAS AFTER RELEASING BRAKES OR SECONDS LATER IT WOULD "CLUNK" (DEALER KEEPS SAYING IT 'POPS', IT CLUNKS). FIRST TIME IN THEY DIDNT FEEL IT THEY SAID. SECOND TIME THEY FELT IT AND THEN SAID THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS AND WOULD CONTACT KIA ABOUT IT-----THIS THIRD TIME---THEY SAY ITS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE. FTER THE FIRST TIME IN THE SHOP FOR THE 'CLUNKING' THE SERIOUS VIBRATION ON THE HIGHWAY BEGAN TO BE FELT STARTING AT 68 MPH AND WORSENING AT 70 MPH.....TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE TIRES AND THEY BALANCED THEM-----NOW THE VIBRATION IS WORSE AND YOU FEEL IT AT 60 MPH AND AT 68 MPH IT IS REALLY NOTICABLE. TOOK IN INTO THE SHOP 02/19/04....DEALSHIP DROVE IT AND THEN JUST TOLD US IT WAS NORMAL ON THE VEHICLE---SOME GUY LAST FALL HAD THE VIBRATION WORSE---AND SAID KIA CANT FIX IT. WELL, WE DIDNT TAKE THAT ANSWER AND IS NOW BEING INVESTIGATE. TWO FIELD KIA INVESTIGATORS JUST DROVE IT BEFORE MY HUSBAND ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD MY HUSBAND THEY DIDNT FEEL REALLY ANYTHING. HE TOLD THEM TO GET IN THE VEHICLE AND NOW DRIVE WITH HIM---THE INVESTIGATORS ALL OF A SUDDEN SAID THEY FELT SOMETHING.....NOW THEY ARE GOING TO LOOK AT SEEING WHAT IT IS. BOTH KIA AND THE DEALERSHIP ARE DRAGGING THIS OUT......CALL KIA'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE (OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED) AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO REPORTS OF THESE PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS US THEY KIA TELLS THEM IT IS NORMAL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND LEFT IT ALL WEEKEND AT THE DEALERSHIP! MY DAUGHTERS LIFE IS AT STAKE DRIVING IT LIKE THAT IF SOMETHING FALLS OFF OR SOMETHING. I AM AFRAID THAT KIA OR THE DEALERSHIP WILL HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE AND ABLE TO COVER THINGS SO THAT WE CAN NOT FILE FOR THE LEMON LAW........... HELP!!!*AK
