TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SPORTAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED RANDOMLY. THE FAILURE SOMETIMES OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AND OTHER TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS JUST STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN EXHIBITING THE FAILURE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,685.

I WAS DRIVING DOWNHILL A CITY STREET AND BEGAN TO TURN RIGHT. AS I WAS SLOWLY TURNING GOING ABOUT 15-20MPH USING THE BRAKES, ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-40MPH, HIT MINE ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DAMAGING FROM THE HEADLIGHT TO THE DRIVERS DOOR. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.

SINCE 2010 I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON. I WAS WELL WITHIN WARRANTY WHEN THIS BEGAN WITH MILEAGE AT 35,736. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPAIRED IT MULTIPLE TIMES; REPLACED BUCKLE TENSORS, REPLACED SEAT, HARNESS, RERAN THE CODES, ETC. TO DATE, IT IS STILL NOT CORRECTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPT. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A LETTER FROM KIA CORPORATION OFFERING A FINAL SETTLEMENT TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT ANSWER MY QUESTION IN WRITING ON WHETHER OR NOT THIS FINAL FIX WOULD WOULD WORK AND IF THEY WOULD WARRANTY THIS FIX. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY UPON ACCIDENT. THEY SAID THEY DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE, BUT IT IS LIKELY THEY WILL NOT DEPLOY. MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AFTER THE MOST RECENT REPAIR WHICH REPLACED THE SEAT. I HAVE PAID FOR A MAJORITY OF THESE FIXED. MOST IMPORTANT TO ME IS OUR SAFETY. CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR AND WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON I AM AFRAID TRADE IN VALUE WOULD BE REDUCED. IN 2012 KIA RECALLED ALMOST 150,000 OPTIMAS AND RONDOS FOR AIRBAG ISSUES. I RESPECTFULLY ASK THAT YOU CONSIDER THE KIA SPORTAGE AIRBAG FOR RECALL.

The fan for my car worked intermittently. I took the car to the dealership and they said it was the fan. I replaced the fan myself. While replacing the fan, I noticed that one of the connectors was melted. After changing the fan, nothing changed. After that, I decided to remove the bad looking connector. When I did, I realized the damage was much worse than I realized. Some of the casing from the wiring was totally melted off. My radio also started changing stations randomly and my GPS was getting hot when I used it. After I replaced the connector, everything worked perfectly.

TO CASE 10422342 AND OTHERS HOPING FOR RESOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM FROM THIS USELESS GOVERNMENT DATABASE ... WE SUBMITTED A COUPLE OF CLAIMS ON THE SAME SITUATION (10358922 BEING THE LATEST). THE SYMPTOMS: CAR WOULD BE RUNNING AND SUDDENLY ALL SHUT OFF, INCLUDING ELECTRICAL. WHEN THE CAR STOPPED MOVING, WE COULD TURN OFF THE KEY AND TURN IT ON AGAIN AND IT CAME BACK WITH NO PROBLEM. AT FIRST IT WAS WHEN TAKING OFF FROM REST, BUT IT FINALLY STARTED TO OCCUR WHILE DRIVING (READ 10358922 FOR STORY). APPARENTLY BECAUSE POWER SHUT OFF THE OBDII COULDN'T STORE ANY CODES. KIA TRIED TO FIX IT (HQ SAID TO WIGGLE WIRES UNTIL IT REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM). I DROVE THE CAR FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES WHILE DATA-LOGGING, HOPING TO CATCH THE PHENOMENON. FINALLY AFTER SHUTTING DOWN AGAIN WITH OUR DAUGHTER, I TOOK IT TO KIA AND DEMANDED THAT THEY DISCUSS WITH HQ, BUT THEY GAVE THE SAME STUPID ANSWERS. I FINALLY TOLD THEM TO KEEP THE CAR (MY DEALER DID GIVE US A LOANER) UNTIL THEY COULD MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT TO DATA-LOG EVERY TIME TO SEE IF THEY COULD CATCH THE PROBLEM. AFTER NEARLY A MONTH, THEY DID RECORD THE EVENT, AND IT WAS THE ECU! IT WAS SHUTTING DOWN ALL ELECTRICAL AFTER A THERMAL OVERLOAD ISSUE. AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID. SIGNALS BECAME ERRATIC AND JUST SHUT DOWN. ECU WAS REPLACED AND HAVEN'T HAD THE PROBLEM REOCCUR YET BUT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY WEEK SO WE'RE SKEPTICAL. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND KIA DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, AS I TURNED INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND I COASTED INTO THE PARKING LOT. REPAIR ORDER STATED POSSIBLE SOLENOID FAILURE (CODE P0665) AND REPLACED BANK 2 INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE SOLENOID.THIS WAS ON 10/2010. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT BY US AS NEW. AGAIN, THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED WHILE DECELERATING AND/'OR TURNING (DEC. 21, 2011). THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN 3-4 WEEKS. CALLED KIA CONSUMER TELEPHONE NUMBER IN OWNER'S MANUAL AND THEY HAVE NO OTHER INCIDENTS REPORTED FOR THIS PROBLEM. CAR KNOW HAS 90,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY SAID WE'RE OUT OF WARRANTY AND WE SHOULD TAKE IT TO OUR KIA DEALER IN OUR TOWN. MY FRIEND AND I WERE DRIVING HOME AT 55 MPH WHEN MY SPORTAGE STARTING SPEEDING UP ON ITS OWN. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT IT WANTED TO CUT OFF. SO WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED IT STARTED SPEEDING UP AND SLOWING ON IT'S OWN. THIS WENT ON FOR ABOUT 15 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR DO THIS. IT WAS REALLY SCARY. AT ONE POINT IT CUT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THANK GOD THERE WAS NOONE ELSE BEHIND ME. I DID MAKE IT HOME AND IT DIED PULLING IN THE DRIVE.

WHILE BRAKING THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE PICKING UP SPEED. WHEN I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH THE ENGINE SURGED PAST 2000 RPM. WHILE DRIVING ON A DOWNGRADE THE VEHICLE WAS PICKING UP SPEED, AND I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH AND THE ENGINE RPM WENT 2000 RPM FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. FROM MY EXPERIENCES WITH OTHER VEHICLES I THOUGHT: MAYBE THE DRIVER'S MAT SHIFTED, OR SOME OTHER OBJECT MAY HAVE FALLEN AND WAS INTERFERING WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I FELT AROUND THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT, BUT FOUND NO FOREIGN OBJECTS. I USED THE TIP OF MY FOOT TO MAKE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS UP ALL THE WAY, AND THEN ENGINE RPM APPEARED TO GO TO NORMAL. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION I TAPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL A FEW TIMES TO RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. THE ENGINE WENT TO 2000 RPM FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS, AND CAME BACK DOWN. I CHECKED FOR ANY CODES USING AN OBD II SCANNER, HOWEVER NONE WERE FOUND.

July 14, 2020 To whom it may concern I [XXX] is owner of Kia Sportage 2006 [XXX] I purchase this vehicle 12/2005 from Kia in Paramus NJ. This vehicle now has 137,296 miles also what make note it has not never been in accident or given me big issues. In May 2018, I received a recall on this vehicle for application of additional anti- corrosion material (SC104) which I brought my vehicle to Tenafly NJ (which is now closed) •Only July 2, 2020 appropriately 5:20 pm I was driven home to pick up my mother, I heard a weird sound coming from left back wheel. And continuing driving the sound got louder, I taken the vehicle to my mechanic and left there. •July 3, 2020, I went to pick up the vehicle and the mechanic showed me underneath the vehicle how the vehicle corrupted (photos include). The mechanic advises me not to drive the car that it is very hazardous to me and others on the road and I should notify the dealership. •July 5,2020, I called the customer relation of Kia which they stated that they will look at it and have vehicle towed to nearness Kia, which is Jack Daniels Motors, Inc Kia in Fairlawn NJ. The vehicle arrived 9:30 am. I received phone at 3:30 pm from Service Advisor [XXX], who actual ask me to come in and sign papers. I could not come on July 5,2020 •On July 6, 2020 I arrived at Kia Jack Daniels Motors, Inc at 5:30 pm to talk to Service Advisor [XXX], he stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and it was out of his hands and someone will get back to me. •On July 10, 2020 I received a phone call from Service Advisor [XXX] that the vehicle pass the warranty and they cannot help me with the issue. I should call customer relation. Then I called customer relation again, I talk to [XXX] ext. [XXX]. The customer servant, [XXX] stated that I should call my insurance company to pay for repairs, (out pocket). I told him that this issue is not my insurance company issue. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE I-84 WEST WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR. I PULLED OFF JUST BEFORE I WAS GOING TO TURN ONTO THE TACONIC PARKWAY GOING NORTH TO ALBANY (I LIVE IN ALBANY COUNTY, NY). I SLOWLY PULLED MY CAR ONTO THE TACONIC TO GET OUT OF THE MASSIVE TRAFFIC. I LOOKED UNDER THE REAR OF THE CAR AND SAW THAT THE CONTROL ARM OF THE STRUT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAD RUSTED THROUGH COMPLETELY AND BROKEN. WHEN SLUSH STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD WHILE THE WIPERS WERE OPERATING, THEY FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WIPERS WERE EQUIPPED WITH A CLIP THAT DISCONNECTS TO KEEP THE MOTOR FROM BURNING. THE REAR WIPER ARM OF THE KIA SPORTAGE IS MADE OF WEAK PLASTIC AND CANNOT WITHSTAND GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH. THE FIRST CAR WASH IT WENT THROUGH RIPPED OFF THE WIPER BLADE AND COVER OVER THE INSTALLATION NUT. THE SECOND CAR WASH THEN BROKE THE ARM. THIS RESULTS IN THE INABILITY TO CLEAR THE REAR WINDOW OF DIRTY/SNOW/RAIN RESULTING IN REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS. THE MANUFACTURER/DEALER SAYS THAT IT IS NOT THERE PROBLEM AND REQUIRE THAT I PAY OVER $100 TO REPAIR AFTER WHICH I MUST HAND WASH THE CAR. *JB

I HIT THE SIDE OF A CAR I DIDN'T SEE WHILE PULLING OUT OF A CAR PARK ONTO THE ROAD, SO I WAS MOVING SLOWLY FORWARD. A CAR HAD APPEARED FROM BEHIND 2 TURNING CARS AND I HIT THE SIDE OF IT. NEITHER THE AIR BAG OR THE SEAT BELT IN MY CAR STOPPED MY HEAD FROM MAKING CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS VERY SHAKEN AT THE TIME AS ANYONE WOULD BE. THE FOLLOWING DAY I NEEDED TO REST, AND 2 DAYS LATER WENT TO ER WHERE I HAD A SCAN AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CONCUSSION. OVER 2 WEEKS LATER, I AM MUCH BETTER BUT NOT YET FULLY RECOVERED. THE SEAT BELT SENSOR FOR THE AIR BAGS HAS GONE OUT 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED ABOUT 2500K MILES AND WAS UNDER WARRANTY, THE SECOND TIME WAS AFTER 60K MILES AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR IT ABOUT $100, THE THIRD TIME IT WENT OUT WAS ABOUT 80K MILES. PREVIOUSLY REPORTED ENGINE SURGES / ERRATIC IDLE AT 177800 MILES, AND THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AT 177900 MILES. AT 178345 THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WAS CLEANED AS A PRECAUTION, DUE TO THE PREVIOUS SYMPTOMS. AT 178377 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I FOUND THE THROTTLE STUCK IN THE FULL OPEN POSITION. AFTER SAFELY STOPPING THE VEHICLE, I HAD TO MANUALLY RETURN THE THROTTLE TO THE NORMAL POSITION. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I BEGAN EXPERIENCING ERRATIC IDLING 3000 TO 4000 RPM. ONCE PARKED AT 178382 THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WAS RECHECKED, AND ENGINE IDLE RPM RETURNED TO NORMAL. I CHECKED THE OBDII AND FOUND NO PREVIOUS OR PENDING CODES. I WILL REPLACE THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE.

I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AT 177,800 MILES THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING ENGINE SURGES. WHILE DRIVING IF I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH ENGINE WOULD RISE TO 2000 RPMS. RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS AND BEFORE NEW YEAR'S EVE I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM A LADY STATING SHE WAS A KIA REPRESENTATIVE. MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE RECALL FOR THE BRAKE SWITCH. ABOUT TEN DAYS AFTER THE CALL MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NO LONGER GO OUT EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING STILL OVERNIGHT. THAN ABOUT 3-5 DAYS LATER MY ESC OFF LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW ALWAYS STAY ON WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. THIS PAST WEEKEND I SENT A SERVICE REQUEST ONLINE FOR THE BRAKE SWITCH ISSUE TO BE FIXED. I DID BUNCH OF RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH WAS THE ONE CAUSING THE OTHER ISSUES AND STILL CAN CAUSE MORE. ON 2/1/16 A KIA SERVICE EMPLOYEE CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE STATING THAT THE RECALL DIDN'T APPLY TO MAY CAR. LATER ON THAT SAME DAY MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. I purchased this vehicle from a private seller in August 2021 and attempted to obtain records of the vehicle Kia America Case ID #14353653 which Kia America has yet to provide me any information. I had a full diagnostic done by a certified mechanic at Borst Automotive in the state of Arizona on 09/18/21 where several concerns were reported to me that Kia failed to report. There is a new and concerning grinding with the engine on my 2006 Kia Sportage LX that sounds like it might be an exhaust leak. I hear loud grinding sounds now when turning on the car that immediately sound when it is fired up, and when accelerating is the worst, but the sound starts loud and is immediate when I turn on the vehicle and fire up the engine. Two days ago on 10-01-21 which was the last night I drove it as it feels unsafe to drive now, I did not get far before the front driver's tire closest to the engine completely blew out/ and exploded coming off of it's wheel and cap hinting at a potential engine problem or recalled defect. I had to immediately pull over and call AAA to come put the spare donut on my car to get it back home to park. The engine appears to have something wrong with the exhaust system and it sounds bad. I reported this today to Kia America case ID #14407655. I always make it a point to to check fluids and something is not right here. The car is overheated but Radiator is fine and coolant, and all other engine fluids are full but could be an engine issue that is dangerous. This engine sounds like it will burst at any minute its grinding and stalling so bad. Made an appointment with Royal Kia in my hometown Tucson, AZ for October 12, 2021 to have the fuel tank straps replaced and towed as apparently they are faulty and this was the soonest this dealership could perform this. I know the 2010-2021 Sportage models were recalled under Safety Recall 20V-750 but since this recall is somewhat new and yet to discover other Kia Sportage’s that might also be affected. Consumer also noticed malfunctioning of brake and tail lights when pushing the brake pedal and without pushing on it. Taillight bulb had to be replace immediately when purchasing the vehicle. Headlight/lamps were also faulty and replacement on the driver's side as well as replacement of the tire on the driver's side already occurred in the few short weeks consumer owned the vehicle.

BACK IN MAY OF THIS YEAR, I HEARD OF A RECALL FOR GAS TANK STRAPS ON MY CAR - SO CALLED KIA AND THEY SAID TANK STRAPS HAD BEEN RECALLED AND CORROSION PROTECTION (UNDERCOATING) WAS ALSO A REMEDY THAT WAS COVERED BY THE RECALL. I ARRANGED RECALL SERVICE AT CLOSEST DEALER (1 1/2 HOURS AWAY) WHO ORDERED THE TANK STRAPS FOR ME. UNFORTUNATELY, ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE TECH SAID THAT HE COULD NOT REPLACE THE STRAPS BECAUSE HE WAS CONCERNED THAT THE GAS TANK "WOULD FALL APART DUE TO CORROSION ALONG THE WELDED SEAM OF THE TANK" A COMMON PROBLEM KNOWN TO KIA. BECAUSE THE TECH DID NOT HAVE A NEW TANK IN STOCK, I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD GET ONE FROM A JUNK YARD, HE SAID THAT SUCH A USED TANK "WOULD LIKELY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM." I HAD KIA INSPECT THE AIR CONDITIONER BECAUSE IT STARTED WORKING SPORADICALLY. I WAS INFORMED BY KIA THAT THEY DISCONNECTED THE UNIT TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM CATCHING ON FIRE. VERBATIM: FOUND BLOWER MOTOR BAD AND FRIED RESISTOR AND HARNESS. LEFT UNPLUGGED TO PREVENT FIRE FROM STARTING. THIS VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY AIR ISSUES UNLESS FREON IS NEEDED. THIS VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE 10 YR WARRANTY, BUT IT IS JUST THE POWER TRAIN. THIS ISSUE IS AN ISSUE THAT CAME STRAIGHT OFF THE MANUFACTURING LINE AND I AM NOT SURE HOW MANY VEHICLES HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE, BUT I HAVE READ SIMILAR ISSUES ON THIS SITE. KIA SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR MANUFACTURING A 1 TON KILLING MACHINE. IF THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE, I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SOME INNOCENT BYSTANDER IN MY PATH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE SEAT BELT MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,289 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 68,308.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SPORTAGE WITH AN ULTRA 578510 DOLLY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND TOWING THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOLLY THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING FROM ONE SIDE TO ANOTHER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGERS SIDE WHEEL CAME OFF OF THE DOLLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE TIRES AND THE NUTS CAME OFF OF THE DOLLY. THERE WAS ALSO INDENTATION IN THE LOWER PART OF THE WHEEL WELLS OF THE FRONT TIRES. THE HUB AND TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED TO REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR THE DAMAGE. THE CONTACT DID NOT AGREE WITH THE AMOUNT AND NO FURTHER OFFERS WERE MADE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

2006 KIA SPORTAGE EX WITH V-6 HAS A HABIT OF COMPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN ELECTRICALLY, KILLING THE ENGINE AND THUS ALL LIGHTS, POWER ASSIST TO STEERING/BRAKES, ETC. PREVIOUSLY THIS OCCURRED ONLY WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP (PREVIOUSLY REPORTED). THIS TIME OUR DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT NIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF UTAH WHEN THIS OCCURRED AGAIN. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY WITHOUT INCIDENT IN COMPLETE DARKNESS AND NO POWER ASSISTS. CAR WAS RUNNING ON CRUISE CONTROL SO NO DRIVER FUNCTION COULD HAVE CAUSED THE INCIDENT. NO WARNING SUCH AS ENGINE STUMBLE, FLICKERING LIGHTS, ETC,, IT JUST SHUT OFF!!! ONCE SAFELY STOPPED, OUR DAUGHTER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND GET TO THE DESTINATION WITHOUT INCIDENT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SPORTAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON JULY 18, 2009 AND REPAIRED ACCORDING TO RECALL# 09V130000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH). AFTER THE REPAIR SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY SHIFT IN THE REVERSE GEAR. AFTER REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OFF. LASTLY THE VEHICLE SMELLED LIKE BURNT WIRES. THE DEALER CONCLUDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE GARAGE. THE MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED.. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SPORTAGE. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE DOWNHILL, THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. SHE APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL SHIFTED IN PARK.
