I own a 2015 Kia Sportage with an open safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 22V051 / SC227B). The vehicle became undriveable years ago due to engine issues. I contacted both the dealership and Kia several times, but no one has responded or completed the recall. I received no notification letter. The vehicle has sat inoperable for years, and I had to stop payments because the engine failed and posed a safety risk. I am requesting NHTSA intervention as Kia has failed to complete the safety recall in a timely manner.

We were driving down the highway and without any kind of warning the car lost all power I had to move to the shoulder of the road and wait over 5 hrs for a tow truck and then get a hotel room for the night before we could get a rental car the next morning once they opened. Then, a couple weeks later we had to have the vehicle towed back home to NY since we broke down on [XXX] in PA. Then we had to have it towed to a repair shop and they told me it was rod iron knocking and was covered under the Theta II class action lawsuit according to the website when the vin# was inputted to the website. And Kia is saying it's not covered because of a recall that wasn't completed but being I never received the notification as I wasn't the 1st or 2nd owner of the vehicle. The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the engine had seized, resulting in damages to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnosis. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 91,000.

I purchased the vehicle in February 9, 2024. A week after I purchased it the engine started making a knocking noise. I took the Sportage to Kia of Orange Park as I saw some there were some recalls on the vehicle. I paid to have a full diagnostic done. The gentleman that assisted me reached out to the Kia Corporation to see if they would repair the engine. Kia refused stating that the recall PI1802A - PI1802 (ECU Logic Upgrade KSDA 14- 15 MY) had not been done. This recall was out on the car prior to my ownership so there is no way for me to have it done when it came out.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, there was a loud clanking sound coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. An independent mechanic was contacted and diagnosed the vehicle with a cracked rod bearing. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a previously associated recall had expired related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V051000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 80,000.

I had the anti-theft security upgrade on my Kia done and it was still easily stolen in minutes from my driveway. The upgrade did absolutely nothing.

A recall notice was issued in March. The notice advised to park vehicle outside until a remedy is available. When I had the vehicle serviced in June, the service adviser for West hills Kia, noted that a rodent nest was under the hood, and advised me they could install a rodent screen for APROX. $400. I declined. How can Kia, continue to state, to this date, there is no remedy, but are willing to sell me something that was caused by me parking the vehicle outdoors for 5 months? This is a complaint about NHTSA recall #22V051, manufacturer recall #SC227B. I was notified of this recall in March 2022 and there has been no remedy and no further correspondence. It has been suggested by the NHTSA that I not drive my car and that I park it away from other cars and structures in case of spontaneous combustion while driving or parked. I live in an area where a small spark could destroy thousands of acres of forest and homes and I no longer feel safe owning this vehicle. There has been no effort made by the manufacturer to provide me with a replacement for the inoperable vehicle that I paid for. I have written a formal complaint to the manufacturer with no response. Every time I call their corporate offices, I sit on hold for hours at a time before hanging up because no-one picks up the line. This is all unacceptable and this problem needs to be resolved immediately!

Looking for assistance in getting recall sc227b completed. HW Kia (dealer) keeps telling me there is no part available. According to the recall notice letter I received from HW Kia on March 31, 2022, I can not park my car in my garage (or near any other vehicles or structures). There have been a high number of KIA/HYundai vehicles stolen in STL recently, and not being able to park my car in the garage I am risk of having it stolen. Please advise how I am to continue using my car with this kind of cautionary notice. Technically, I am unable to drive/park my car anywhere according to this letter. Thank you.

This problem has not been repaired. We get the run around from KIA about when the part is going to come in to fix this safety hazard. It's now been 5 months with no definitive or even estimated date of when this recall part will come in. This uncertainty is causing great consternation since we're concerned about driving the car (because it could catch fire) or even parking the car in our garage. HELP!!!!!

Engine stalled at a stop sign. Smoke started coming from the front of the vehicle and engine burst into flames. No warning lights, no sign of something going wrong. My safety and that of my husband was out at risk due to risk of burning to death, being badly burned, others being injured from being in the vicinity etc.

I was passing a vehicle on a 2 lane (one lane going in each direction) highway at approximately 55mph when my car engine lost power. I had to immediately get over and pull to the side of the road towing vehicle to Webster Tire and Auto in Teutopolis, IL. They originally thought it was the alternator but they said engine was knocking and needed to be replaced. I found out that there was a lawsuit for this issue and that Kia has a service campaign. Although I had searched the NTHSA website and Carfax, because I purchased the vehicle recently the only way for me to have expected the issue was for me to have contacted Kia directly or to be notified by the person who sold me the car. I was also denied a claim on this lawsuit because I had not had the service update which would have extended the warranty on the engine and fixed the knock sensor issue. This information should be readily available to consumers and owners. I had this vehicle at Walmart for an oil change and Webster tire and auto for other maintenance prior to incident and neither of those companies were aware of this service campaign.

NOTICE THAT WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND THEN THE ENGINE SEEMS TO BE NORMAL AGAIN. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING NOW FOR THE PAST 4-5 MONTHS. I FIGURED IT HAD TO DO WITH THE LAST RECALL THAT WE HAD, BUT THAT CLEARLY NOT THE PROBLEM. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE CAR MAY SHUT DOWN WHILE I'M DRIVING AS THIS MAY CAUSE AND ACCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR WHILE APPROACHING TRAIN TRACKS THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T DO SO. I HAD JUST ENOUGH MOMEMTIUM TO GET ME OVER THE TRACKS. I PULLED ONSIDE THE SHOULDER SHUT THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY. WHEN I TRIED TO CUT ON CAR AGAIN IT SHUT IMMEDIATELY OFF. I SAT THERE 10-15 MINS AND IT CUT BACK ON. WHEN I STARTED DRIVING IT AGAIN IT CUT OFF AGAIN AFTER 5 MINS. THIS WENT ON FOR ALMOST AND HOUR FOR ME TO GET HOME WHICH WAS ONLY 1/4 MILE AWAY. NOW WHEN I TRY TO CUT IT ON IT SHUTTERS AND CUTS OFF. THE ENGINE SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED ON A MAIN STREET.

The car just quit running as I was driving. It would not turn over using jumper cables. I had it towed to a local mechanic where they replaced the starter and the battery. Upon picking it up, it was making noises that it did not make previously.

I have not had an "incident" because I have not driven this auto since I received the recall notice early April. KIA is crazy if they believe it is safe to drive while under constant threat of fire. I was hoping you could initiate another class action suit to force them to act, as it has been an unreasonable amt of time...5 and ½ months since recall date. Please help. I have contacted NHTSA, FTC, Attorney General, etc etc. NO ONE has responded other than to to issue a complaint report #.

Well renctly it been a disturbing knocking sound in my engine it started to happen month after i got my oil change and the more u push the gas the sound start getting louder. Since then i haven't drove my vehicle i been trying calling kia but they haven't give me no information and thats the only vehicle that gets me to work. No it haven't been inspected i been constantly calling kia dealership i havent got a called back.

MY CAR STALLS. IT STALLS WHILE IDLING, AT A LIGHT OR WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. ALTHOUGH THE LAST IS LESS COMMON IT HAS HAPPENED ENOUGH TO BE FRIGHTENING. I PURCHASED THE CAR 3 YEARS AGO AND IT STALLED UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS IN 3 TIME IMMEDIAATELY. SINCE THEN THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN CORAL SPRINGS FLORIDA HAS TOLD ME THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG. SOMETIMES IS SEEMS TO BACKFIRE BEFORE STALLING AND OTHERS STALL QUIETLY. IT IS RARE FIR THE CAR TO GET THROUGH BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC WITHOUT STALLING. IF I IDLE FOR FIVE OR SIX MINUTES IT STALLS. GOING AROUND CLOVER LEAVES ON HIGHWAYS IT STALL. IT HAS STALLED HUNDRED OF TIMES.

CAR WAS IN A COLLISION WITH METAL BRIDGE BARRIER(STANDING SOLID OBJECT) HEAD ON, SPUN TO HIT BOTH REAR SIDES AND SPUN SOME MORE AND NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I HIT MY HEAD ON THE DRIVER SIDE PANEL AND RESULTED IN A CONCUSSION. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65MPH WHEN I HIT AN ICE BLOCK ON THE ROAD, SPUN TO THE SIDE AND HIT THE METAL BARRIE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD HEAD ON AND SPUN MORE TO HIT THE BACK TIRE. The computer monitor says," bootloader started insert USB with file" Nothing on the screen works. It never shuts off. Even when the car is off and the keys are out of the ignition. It kills the battery. We have taken the fuse out and it shuts off but I can't use the hatchback. It stays in the locked position. I also can't use the power locks. I took it to a Kia dealer and they could not figure it out. They sent me on my way.

INTERMITTENT NON STARTING. REPLACED VEHICLE BATTERY AND FOB BATTERY. ALL ACCESSORIES WORK BUT WILL NOT START. PRESS THE START BUTTON AND IT WILL NOT START AND HAVE A HARD BRAKE PEDAL. WILL NOT START EVEN WHEN APPLY MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. WAIT 5 TO 10 MINUTES LATER AND IT WILL START. BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES AND THEIR COMPUTER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.

AFTER HEAVY RAIN DROVE THROUGH LARGE AMOUNT WATER SLOWLY. ONCE I GOT THREW THE WATER ALL OF MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OFF FOR 6 MINS, SO I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE SWITCHES. THEY CAME ON, BUT AS DROVE THE SMELL OF WIRES BURNING WAS VERY HEAVY IN THE CABIN, I HAD TO OPEN ALL WINDOWS UNTIL THE SMELL CLEARED. THERE HAS BEEN FREQUENT NEWS COVERAGE ON KIA VEHICLES CATCHING FIRE ON THE HIGHWAYS IN GEORGIA. ALSO, REPORTED THAT AFTER REQUIRED REPAIR WERE DONE, THESE CARS STILL CAUGHT FIRE. STILL NO NATIONWIDE ACKNOWLEDGE OF THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM BY THE MANUFACTURER. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY KIA. I HAVE NOT ANY INVESTIGATIONS BY ANY AGENCY.

CPSC:I HAD A TRAILER HITCH INSTALLED ON MY 2015 KIA SPORTAGE., I WAS EXISTING THE CASTLE ROCK MOTEL IN FRIENDSHIP, WI WHEN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE ERUPTED IN THE BACK OF THE CAR WHERE MY 1 YEAR OLD GRANDSON WAS STRAPPED INTO THE CAR SEAT. ONE OF THE HOTEL EMPLOYEES SAW ME STRUGGLE TO GET HIM OUT OF THE CAR SEAT AND CAME TO ASSIST, AT THE SAME TIME DAUGHTER (WHO WAS ALSO IN THE CAR WITH ME) CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE HOTEL EMPLOYEE RETRIEVED SOME TOOLS AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DISMANTLED THE BACK PANEL WHERE THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM AND DETERMINED THE ROOT CAUSE WAS THE WIRING HARNESS "BLACK BOX." [XXX] Kia Dealer replaced the 2015 Kia Sportage engine under an extended warranty not a recall. (10 months ago) Kia failed to notify us there was a connection issue of the high pressure fuel line on replacement motors. [XXX] daughter drove from Boston to Maine when she arrived home gas vapors were coming out the front grill and between the hood and windshield. When I removed the plastic engine cover and had her start the car fuel sprayed out everywhere. 2-6-24: Kia dealer wont repair the leak because the engine was replaced under an extended warranty and not a recall. 2-7-24: Charles, a supervisor at Kia Customer Care said the same thing, sorry but nothing I can do. So let me understand what you are saying. If two 2015 Kia Sportage come in and both get the engines replaced , one under a recall the other under an extended warranty and then it is discovered that the pipe that connects to the high pressure fuel pump may have been damaged , misaligned or improperly fastened during replacement could result in a fuel leak and fire. Only the owner that had the engine replaced under the recall would be notified. The other owner will be driving around a potential Kia Fireball. He said that unfortunately is the case and our car is out of the warranty period. 18V-907 / SC172 Recall Summary Kia Motors America is recalling certain 2011-2018 Sportage vehicles that previously received an engine replacement under recall number 17V-224, warranty, or the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) The high pressure fuel pipe that connects to the fuel pump outlet may have been damaged, misaligned or improperly torqued during the engine replacement procedure, possibly causing a fuel leak. This recall affects only some Sportage vehicles. Specifically, it impacts any vehicles that had an engine replacement completed. I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS CHECKED BY MY LOCAL AUTO ZONE WITH A CODE INVOLVING A SLOW LEAK. THAT IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT IS ON RECALL FOR THESE KINDS OF VEHICLES SINCE JANUARY 2019. IT ALSO HAS TO DO WITH THE SAME RECALL I HAD DONE BEFORE AS STATED AS PART OF THE RECENT RECALL.

I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO KIA ON THE DEALERSHIP LEVEL TWICE AND THEIR CORPORATE OFFICES ONCE. I HAVE GAS THAT BUBBLES UP AND OUT OF THE GAS TANK. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT TIME OF THE DAY, OR SEASON, OR GAS STATION I USE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DEALERS, BOTH KIA. THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM AND DON'T SEEM TO THINK IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE MOST RECENT EVENT WAS THIS PAST FRIDAY.

Two weeks ago my car began making a loud knocking noise from the bottom end and emitting a burning smell from the engine out of nowhere, without any warning lamps. I took it to a mechanic I trust. As soon as he heard the noise and looked at it he told me it was bad and that I could not drive my car, it concerned a HECU unit and/or fuse and could potentially lock up or start on fire. He gave me a printout with NHTSA Recall# 22V051 on it and told me I would need a new engine. When I called Kia Customer Care they did not have the recall number. I gave it to them and they put me on hold for 45 minutes so they could do some research; the representative and her supervisor eventually found the recall and authorized a safety tow to Peak Kia in Denver, CO At Peak Kia they told me they looked at my car and it would need a new engine, but there was nothing they could do because my car was past warranty. That was the first time I had ever heard of anything about a warranty or it being past due. The service clerk told me it would be an out of pocket expense of 6 -12,000$ for a new engine and explained that this was because my car had gone past 100,000 miles, and the engine had already failed so the warranty could not be extended. She also told me to contact my dealership because they could be at fault. I left that building scared, because I still owe about 8000$ on my loan. I purchased the vehicle in Rapid City, SD with my parents at a non Kia dealership called Granite Nissan. When we called the dealership they said they had not been informed of a recall by the previous owner or Kia manufacturers. Neither had I at the time of purchase, or since. My dad and I checked Kelley Blue Book to make sure. I was then informed that the dealership does not have legal responsibility to alert buyers of this info. Now we are being repeatedly told that this will be my expense, and it is a scam. Kia made a car that promised reliability and safety, but have left the defects up to the owner.

THE 2015 KIA SPORTAGE WAS IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE MEDICAL CENTER WHERE MY WIFE HAD A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. SHE WAS INSIDE APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MINUTES WHEN AN ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE ABOUT A RED KIA IN THE PARKING LOT. WHEN SHE LOOKED, IT WAS HER CAR & THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE ALREADY ON SCENE & THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS.

The current Kia Recall for the HECU related to the braking system/potential for an engine fire has been open since February. As an owner I received the letter in March. I have contacted both a dealership and Kia directly but have received no information regarding a helpful timeline for when the repair will be available. This has left me unable to use my vehicle for fear of an incident and injury to me and my family. The best response I was given is that I could rent a vehicle at my expense and apply for a refund from Kia directly but they are not offering any loaner vehicles or plans to remedy this issue. It has been over 3 months with no proper communication nor a fix in place.

The check engine warning light, along with two other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact managed to pull over and stated that the vehicle had not lost motive power, however, the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired and the contact was advised to have the vehicle towed to a local dealer for further diagnosis and repair. The vehicle was then towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine would need to be removed for further diagnosis. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting repair. I JUST RECEIVED IT TODAY, APRIL 27, 2019, ADVISING ME TO TAKE TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TO CONTACT THEM AFTER THE DIAG SO THAT THEY CAN SPEAK WITH THE DEALER TO HELP RESSOLVE. NO IDICATION THAT THEY'LL PAY, OR DO A COURTESY REPAIR. ELECTRICAL WORK CAN BE EXPENSIVE. THIS IN MY OPINION IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, WITH NO RECALL. THE LATE MODEL KIA SPORTAGE'S HAVE TERRIBLE REAR TURN SIGNALS. THEY ARE A VERY SKINNY 1" X 6" LONG SLIT THAT IS MOUNTED INTO THE LOWER BUMPER COVER. WHEN FOLLOWING ONE OF THESE VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY IN DAYLIGHT, A DRIVERS EYE IS NOT TRAINED TO BE LOOKING FOR A VERY SMALL, SKINNY LITTLE TURN SIGNAL THAT IS NOT INTEGRATED INTO THE BRAKE LIGHTS OR EVEN NEAR THE BRAKE LIGHTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE TURN SIGNAL IS ABOUT 18"-24" LOWER THAN THE BRAKE LIGHTS. RECENTLY WHEN FOLLOWING ONE OF THESE VEHICLES I NEARLY HAD A COLLISION BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING AT THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND NOTICING THE DRIVER SLOWING BUT WHEN THEY SUDDENLY STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC TO TURN INTO THEIR DRIVEWAY, I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS BECAUSE I DID NOT SEE A TURN SIGNAL UNTIL I REALIZED IT WAS ONE OF THESE VEHICLES AND IT WAS ACTUALLY ON BUT COMPLETELY OUT OF MY LINE OF SIGHT. Hood latch seccondary safety latch did not catch hood and hood flew up causing inability to see and luckily only damage the car itself. This is a dangerous problem with Kia and should be investigated for the safety catch becoming corroded and sticky. Its design is defective and it should be recalled and reworked so that it can not become corroded and sieze preventing safe operation in the event the primary latch comes unclipped while driving down the road at speed if a person were to accidentally pull the hood release in motion or it it were so fail to hold adequately.

The contact’s son owns a 2015 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced lunging and the engine seized. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact’s residence. The contact used an ODB scanner to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved DTC codes related for: camshaft timing in cylinder bank 1 advanced, low oil, phaser stuck, faulty sensor, failed valve control solenoid, and worn timing components. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where a diagnostic test was performed, and the contact was informed that the internal engine failure was likely due to low oil pressure. The dealer also stated that the engine oil level was good and recommended that the engine be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact filed a case regarding the failure; however, the case was denied by the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 111,508.

Driving on the highway at 65mph, engine light started blinking then stayed solid and my speed declined to 40mph and would not go higher. Had to stay in slow lane to get off and get back on to make it home. I was unsure as to what was happening.It was the weekend so had to wait until Monday until i could find out and the dealership told me it was the valve cover gasket (which is brand new). I was also told they couldnt do anything else for me i need a long block assembly.

Had vehicle worked on, on 4/11/2023 ( oil change &tuneup). On 4/17/2023 exiting 151 Hwy vehicle slowed down on me, then regained speed to safety at a Shell gas station. Vehicle started with a loud noise coming from the engine compartment. Got worried, had vehicle towed home. Have been trying to get a hold of kia but they don't answer phone or hang up on me, since I have no warranty on vehicle cause I couldn't afford it. Just wanted to pay it off since I only needed One more year at 140011 miles on it. My first kia lasted longer than that. I currently owe under 3,500 on it. Need help please.

The vehicle then lost motive power. Additionally, after refueling the vehicle, a fuel odor was detected while driving. NUNA RAVA HARNESS TIGHTENING STRAP DISCOVERED TO BE FRAYING, AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION UPON REQUEST. SEAT HAS BEEN USED ACCORDING TO MANUAL, NEVER DAMAGED OR IN ACCIDENT. INSTALL AND USAGE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY CPST. DISCONTINUED USE PER MANUAL. NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOUND IN CHILD SAFETY GROUP. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCENING AS THE HARNESS IS COMPROMISED AND HAS PLACED CHILD SAFETY AT RISK. INCIDENT REPORTED TO MANUFACTURER. Consumer stated manufacture indicated they would send a new shell to replace the defective one, however the shell is back ordered for up to 3 months, which was not a reasonable solution. Manufacture also indicated that the extent of the fraying “will not present a significant safety concern.” Manufacture did eventually agree to replace the seat.

WHILE ENTERING THE 290 FROM DOWNTOWN CHICAGO DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 50 MILES AN HOUR WE FELT A PULSE AND THEN AN AUDIBLE VOICE CAME OVER OUR RADIO WITH A DISPLAY ILLUMINATING AS WELL STATING THAT THERE WAS A "POSSIBLE CONDITION WITH OUR ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM DETECTED AND THAT WE SHOULD SCHEDULE A FULL SYSTEM CHECK WITH THE KIA DEALERSHIP." THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND THE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. WITH THE LOCATION OF THE INCIDENT THERE WAS AN EXTREME DANGER OF COLLISION AS THERE WAS NO WAY TO SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY COME OUT OF THE IMMEDIATE SITUATION. WITHOUT A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ON WE THEN MADE OUR WAY TO A SIDE STREET AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO OUR DEALERSHIP AND WE THEN HAD TO ARRANGE OUR OWN TRANSPORTATION FROM THE DISABLED VEHICLES LOCATION TO A PLACE THAT WAS OPEN AND WE WERE ABLE TO SECURE TRANSPORTATION. CALLING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT MORNING WE WERE MET WITH A PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT OF IT BEING A "SENSOR" AND THEN AFTER WE PERSONALLY VISITED THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAIN HOW WE DID NOT FEEL SAFE IN OUR VEHICLE THEY WENT ON TO SAY THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT PROBLEM AND WOULD LOOK AT IT. I AGAIN REITERATED THAT IN A NEW VEHICLE WHETHER IT WAS THE CAR ITSELF OR A FAULTY PART I DID NOT FEEL SAFE AS I HAD LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AND IN ANY OTHER SITUATION WOULD HAVE NOT HAD THE OUTCOME I DID. I TRIED AGAIN TO ENTER THE RIGHT LANE AND AGAIN THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE LEFT. I WAS IN MODERATE TRAFFIC, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET TO THE RIGHT LANE, CARS BEHIND ME WERE BLOWING THEIR HORNS AND I WAS AFRAID OF A POSSIBLE ROLL-OVER! MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THAT FEATURE BECAUSE THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED A CAMERA WOULD HAVE BEEN MOUNTED NEAR THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. ONE OF MY CONCERNS IS THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE SOFTWARE FOR THIS SYSTEM IS EMBEDDED IN MY VEHICLE AND IS INTERMITTENTLY TRIGGERING. FRANKLY, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT THE PRESENT TIME, AND I AM SURPRISED THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT RETAIN THE VEHICLE FOR FURTHER INTENSIVE EVALUATION MY WIFE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE TWICE. THE FIRST AT THE BEGINNING OF MARCH AND THE SECOND AT THE MIDDLE OF MARCH TRAVELING BETWEEN 55 AND 60 MPH. *TR
