SERVICE BRAKES
6 complaints
**Vehicle Information:** 2023 Range Rover (purchased used on December 19, 2025 with approximately 21,000 miles) **Component/System Involved:** Rear braking system (rear brake pads and rotors). The vehicle has experienced repeated premature wear of the rear brakes. The component is available for inspection upon request. **Description of the Failure/Malfunction:** At approximately 25,000 miles, I was informed by the servicing dealership, Land Rover Austin, that the rear brakes required replacement. At that time, I had only driven the vehicle approximately 3,355 miles since purchase. I subsequently learned that the rear brakes had already been replaced once before at approximately 12,000 miles. This indicates two rear brake replacements within 25,000 miles, which is significantly below expected brake life. The dealership service department indicated that this may be due to how the rear braking system engages during turning, particularly in city driving conditions, leading to accelerated wear. This is happening in the newer models, is what I was told. **Safety Risk:** Premature and accelerated brake wear creates a potential safety hazard, including reduced braking performance and increased stopping distance if the condition is not identified and addressed promptly. Because this wear occurs faster than expected, it may not be reasonably anticipated by the driver, increasing the risk of operating the vehicle with degraded braking capability. **Reproduction/Confirmation of the Problem:** The issue has been confirmed by an authorized dealership service department, which identified the rear brakes as worn and requiring replacement at approximately 25,000 miles. **Inspection History:** The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized dealer

The vehicle brake pad warning light went on before 15K miles. The dealership and manufacturer have indicated that the design of the 2023 long wheel base model causes the OEM brakes pads to wear through at an accelerated rate. They are replacing them with a different model though nor covering the replacement under warranty.

Problems with brakes. poor braking . then warning sign should break pads worn at 12K miles. I have read many reports about similar defects for the new range rover. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This vehicle is a 2023 Range Rover . I took it in to have the winter tires removed and the summer tires installed. Range Rover did a vehicle inspection and it showed the brake pad wear on the front as being a #7 and the rear as a #2. The scale is 1 to 10 , Ten being NO wear or new pads. I have the write up from Range Rover and pictures they took . I also have the bad brake pads that look like they are flaking away. The repair cost was $2,459.97. The service technician told us this was his 5th 2023 large Range Rover he has done so far this year. They also mentioned that they never do brake pads on a 1 year old vehicle ,let alone 5 vehicles so far this year. As expected i called Range Rover support line with NO answers or resolutions. The majority of my wife's travels in this vehicle have my children with her . Not sure if you can notify Range Rover of this issue, I understand they are a foreign company. Thank you for any help you can provide. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle went into a shut down and all electrical power was dead. Attempted to charge battery and battery had 13.2 amps. Towed to dealer and they reported a software update was required. Also they later reported the battery was changed. Upon pick up, the dash reported warnings of no steering assist, no traction control and software update required. Vehicle has been back 4 times and dealer cannot resolve warning lights after two months. They have indicated it is the driver safety camera not being properly calibrated after multiple attempts and replacement of the windsheild. Vehicle continues to state a warning safety issue and not to exceed 30 miles per hour.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1 complaint
On January 27, 2026, while driving my 2023 Land Rover Range Rover a red warning light came on the dashboard stating "Electric default detected". Following this warning light while driving the vehicle lost power and was unable to drive, steer, or brake. I was able to safely get the vehicle to the side of the road. After having it towed to the Richmond Land Rover of Richmond, VA, the following day the service department indicated the "Epic Inverter/Converter" had gone bad. They also indicated that this is their tenth vehicle just at this dealership of the 2023 Range Rovers that has had the same problem. The fact that the vehicle just suddently loses all power creates a serious safety hazard to drivers.

1 complaint
I purchased this Range Rover in November of 2022. The vehicle was serviced once at the dealership for wind noise on June 26, 2023. The vehicle was parked at my home for a week while our family was on vacation before I returned on August 10th, 2023. It was not driven during this time period. On August 10th, 2023 I came out of the house to drive the vehicle and remotely unlocked the car and sat in the vehicle. One of my children's cars was parked behind me, so I got out of the car and took another vehicle to run a quick 20 minute errand. I returned home and went inside the house. Shortly thereafter the Range Rover caught fire under the hood on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was parked under the soffit of my house and ended up catching my entire house on fire. The car continued to burn under the hood until it was put out by the fire department. The fire department and other investigators traced the source of the fire to the right front portion of the Range Rover under the hood on the passenger side. My neighbor also witnessed the car buring in this area right before he went to get a fire extinguisher and call the fire department.

SEATS
1 complaint
Seats are electric in the rear and do not have any sensors if someone is sitting in them. The seats will fold and crush occupant. We have had 3 incidents leading to minor injuries with different children where the child will inadvertently hit the seat folding button and get injured. This occurred for the 3rd time when my business partner borrowed the vehicle this last weekend for a ski trip and his [XXX] son's arm got stuck in the seat. Happened to me with my [XXX] daughter who was only not crushed because of the car seat. Also, my CFO, [XXX] has borrowed the car, and his [XXX] son got injured with it. SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Multiple Safety Concerns: 1)The vehicles Emergency Braking System engaged TWICE, SUDDENLY, and in busy traffic/highway situations. Now told BREAK PADS AND ROTORS are worn and rusted badly-unusually soon for a newly purchased car-less than a year old. The Austin Jaguar Land Rover dealership’s service person told me “most clients are replacing at 9,500 miles.” If this is truly the case, then why would my sensor warning system not alert me sooner? 2) The vehicle engine coolant light keeps coming on. Dealer told me to “top it off.” I check weekly and have to refill the coolant tank-now worried vehicle has faulted hoses or radiator and will overheat & catch on fire. There are a high number of owners of this vehicle brand, make, and model that are inquiring online about these safety concerns. Please investigate. Looking forward to a response.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,BACK OVER PREVENTION
1 complaint
The vehicle does not go into gear in timely way..I put car in reverse and occasionally it stays in drive. Very dangerous to assume your car is backing up but goes forward. It happened to my son also when driving my car. Seems like there is lag time between shifting gears and vehicle actually going into gear. I just spoke to three other owners of my make, year and model of car and they said they have had same issues.

The Range Rover dash displays that the door is open but it is not. When the Range Rover comes to a stop the Range Rover does not move. It has occurred 10 times, this last time it stopped traffic at an intersection and Bexar County Sheriff’s had to arrive at scene. I have Video of what happens each time it comes to a stop.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
1 complaint
Left rear tail lamp not illuminating. Investigation: Verified connection to find wire cut and corroded, wire was touching a plastic bracket on the vehicle because the trim that covers the harness had a foam on it and that was pushing the tail lamp harness onto the bracket causing it to rub. Then with time water made it's way in and corroded/cut the wire.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
We purchased the vehicle new January 2023 and we drove for a couple of months without any issue, suddenly after filling the gas tank on Monday 4/10/2023 we noticed that the gas gauge dropped significantly after about an hour of drive time, later that evening the garage began smelling like gas through out the night without any leaks. The next day taking kids to school the smell was very bad in the car that we were all light headed during the 30 minutes drive time and had to pull over to inspect the vehicle for fuel leaks and could not observe any leaks. We rolled the windows down in cold weather and proceeded with the drive. We took it to Landrover Denver in Littleton Colorado on 04/13/23, since then they have been struggling as well to find why it is smelling as bad as it is and they contacted Landrover USA without any luck, I contacted Landrover USA multiple times and they claim they aren’t aware of any of such issues with their vehicles and couldn’t be of help. I emphasized the safety concerns especially with all of our health, they insisted that they are not aware of any of such issues with the vehicles.
