My car had the Takata airbags that were recalled. It says the recalls were repaired but my vehicle is saying that the driver-side airbag has malfunctioned. I haven't been in any accidents. So I contacted Mercedes and they could not find verification that the previous open recalls were ever fixed.

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND HAD TO JUMP START IT. I DROVE THE CAR TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED THINKING THAT WAS IT. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AS THE DEALERSHIP WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT COULD DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR.

MY CAR WOULD NOT START... NOTHING WHEN THE I TURN THE KEY INTO THE ON POSITION . THE BATTERY WAS CHECKED AND WAS GOOD. THIS HAPPED SEVERAL TIMES OVER MONTHS BUT TWICE THE CAR STARTED AFTER SITTING MAYBE 8 HOURS. THIS HAPPENED A THIRD TIME A FEW MONTHS LATER. I WAS STRANDED AND ENDED UP HAVING THE CAR TOWED HOME. I TRIED STARTING IT THE NEXT DAY ..NOTHING. MY AUTHORIZED MERCEDES REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION MODULE. I WAITED 2 WEEKS FOR THE PART. COST WAS $1600. JUST A NOTE... I OCCASIONALLY HEARD A FAINT NOISE LIKE A MOTOR RUNNING INSIDE OF MY CAR WHENEVER I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF FOR A COUPLE YEARS BUT DID NOT THINK IT WAS ANY THING TO BE CONCERNED BUT APPARENTLY THIS MAY HAVE BEEN A SIGN OF A FAILING PART.

The vehicle was taken to the residence and an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle but found no issues with the vehicle. The trunk was opened, and the contact became aware of water inside the taillight housings. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.

The tail left bulb mount carrier part Number 204-820-15-00-64, one of the terminal in the back, is corroded. Also, one of the cable is burnt. In short, the tail lamp doesn’t work. It is a hazard problem since it affects the brake signaling, turning signaling and all other tail lamps signaling. For many years, I have read many incidents like this reported from owners like me and Mercedes has done nothing. I cannot use the vehicle in this condition because it is is a safety hazard.

Both headlights wiring harnesses (right and left ) wiring has melted and all wiring is now exposed and touching and causing all light bulbs ( headlights-tail lights-turn signals-brake lights-ect) to be shortage out due to the original wiring not being constructed to resist the heat from the engine and environment.We had MB of Maidland,fl and Elite motors of Ococee,fl to view this issue with the only fix is out-of-pocket repair in the thousands of dollars.i have a neighbor with a MB experiencing similar problems

On [XXX] the car refused to start due to the electronic steering lock failure. The car was towed to the nearest Mercedes Benz Dealer at Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose CA 95129. An inspection was done and Mercedes Benz wanted $3457.66 to replace the Steering Lock. This item is a recall item in other years of the C300 Mercedes Benz. Google shows: Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for the Mercedes- Benz C-Class models, including the C300, due to potential steering lock issues. The recall specifically affects 2015- 2016 C300 models, as well as other C-Class variations like the 2017-2019 C300 Cabrio and Coupe. The recall is due to a potential problem with the Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) module, which is responsible for locking and unlocking the steering wheel. A faulty ESL module can prevent the steering wheel from unlocking, causing the vehicle to be unable to start. We feel that the recall should also apply to the C300 2008 model as it is exactly the same issue and completely incapacitates the car and is a danger to the public as involves the electronic steering. ESL failed suddenly. This appears to be a common problem with C300 MB. As such it should be part and f a recall as the expense to replace is over $2000.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle Electronic Steering Lock failure. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. AFTER DRIVING COMPLETELY NORMALLY FOR OVER 30 MINUTES, I PARKED IN A LOT AND STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT ISSUE TO RUN AN ERRAND. AFTER GETTING BACK INTO THE CAR ONLY 5 MINUTES LATER, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THERE WAS NO NOISE, JUST AN MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY: "REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION". NO OTHER LIGHTS CAME UP. THE KEY COULD TURN, BUT NOTHING ELSE HAPPEN. AFTER DETERMINING THAT IT WAS NOT A BATTERY OR ENGINE ISSUE, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK, WHICH CAUSED THE NO START CONDITION. THIS WAS A SUDDEN FAILURE WITH NO WARNINGS, LEAVING DRIVER AND PASSENGERS COMPLETELY IMMOBILE. DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING OVER $1600 FOR REPLACEMENT, CITING THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL.

The contact inspected the battery and determined there was no failure with the battery. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The ESL system malfunction causes either steering lock or ignition switch to fail resulting in a failure to start the vehicle creating safety issues and a failure to reach safe destination. This problem is reported to be an extremely common issue in the Mercedes Benz W204 C-Class models.

All of a sudden, the car would not start and inserting the key and turning doesn't do anything. Turns out that like many other folks, the Electronic Steering Lock module is faulty and preventing the car from starting. Found out that only the dealer can fix it and mercedes provides the replacement part. The cost is unaffordable at $2200 from the dealer and the part is back ordered and won't be available for approximately 2 months. This is completely unacceptable and mercedes should prioritize and fix this issue as a safety issue with a recall since it completely makes the car non-driveable and nobody but the dealer can fix this, which allows the dealer to charge any amount they like.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP FOR AN ALIGNMENT. IT IS A 2008 C300 SERIES. AFTER THEY CALLED AND SAID IT WAS DONE THEY SAID THAT THE ESL MECHANISM LOCKED UP IN THE CAR AND COMPLETELY FAILED. TO THIS POINT I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD IT FAIL. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST PARTS THAT THEY HAVE TO REPAIR NOTORIOUSLY IN THESE CARS. SO I CALLED TWO OTHER DEALERSHIPS OF THE SAME BUILD TWO OTHER MERCEDES DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I LOOKED UP IN THE BLOG SYSTEM AND FOUND IN THE NATIONAL SAFETY RECORDS THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINT AND THEY HAVE ALL BEEN FILED. WHY ARE WE NOT STARTING A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE TO GET MY CAR BACK WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE $167 IS NOW 1,267.00 THIS IS QUITE A JUMP FOR A CAR I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH. THEY INSISTED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO REPAIR IT AND AS LIKELY AS IT IS IT WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. SO MY COMPLAINT IS WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO START A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. I HAVE A HARD TIME WITH ALL OF THE SAME PARTS GOING BAD AND DEALERSHIP PARTIES ALSO TELLING US THESE ARE BAD PARTS BUT I RECALL HAS NOT BEEN INITIATED. BUT OTHER ANCILLARY ISSUES HAVE BEEN RECALLED THAT ARE LITTLE TO NO IMPORTANCE HOWEVER THIS ONE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT CAN LOCK UP YOUR STEERING WHEEL AND COULD POTENTIAL HE CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IS WHAT TWO DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME OF COURSE THE ONE THAT I AM GETTING REPAIRED WOULD NOT ADMIT THAT. They inspected it and say they can't change it for free. The warranty doesn't cover it. I don't know what's going on. with that

rear subframe corrodes and detaches from car. a class action lawsuit has been filed in georgia and california. this effects many mercedes models. dealer stated the lawsuit extends to 08 models as well.

Car was inspected by Mercedes Benz of St. Paul (MN). The rear subframe of the car was corroded (inside out) and the crossmember became disjointed from the rear subframe. I could have been in an accident while driving my C300 with a corroded out rear subframe. I was extremely lucky not to be in an accident while I was driving my C300 with a major defect like corroded rear subframe that caused crossmember to become disjointed from the rear subframe. I was lucky enough to avoid serious injury to myself and/or someone else if the rear subframe had collapsed due to unexpected corrosion. Mercedes Benz USA is aware of this defect since 2018 but they have not issued any recall. Since the rear subframe rusts out from inside, there will be no visible defect until the rear subframe fails.

While driving noticed that the car was making a clunking noise from the right rear and car was not stable while making a turn and started to swerve to the right while braking. Jacked up the car this afternoon and see that one of the rear links rusted off from the rear subframe due to rust. Subframe is made of very thin metal that is not resistant to rust. Fortunately I didn't need to perform emergency braking since car is very difficult to control now. Car no longer drivable and needs a new rear subframe to be installed. ~ $5,000 dollars.

Car worked fine, all the sudden it wouldn't turn over, I would put the key in and turn it and nothing would happen, I was stuck and had to catch a ride, lucky that I was able, a car company that is supposedly reliable shouldn't allow there cars to completely give out on people during the middle of winter storms and not take ownership, when the customer has taken good care of the car. Talked to several mechanics and turned out it was the Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) module that had malfunctioned probably due to the software and electrical. Due to this only the Benz dealerships can repair, I had to tow it to a dealership and was charged around $2000 after haggling over the price. Terrible experience and should be recalled by MB, I have seen many complaints about this online and was very disappointed there wasn't a cheaper solution. Was both a safety issue, inconvenient and very costly.

THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CAME BACK OUT AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOCKED. THE KEY WENT IN AND TURNED. My car has 85,000 miles on it and the Rear Trailing Arm Frame on the drivers side has rusted from the inside out. It is a good thing I have become aware of this, as it was about to break and cause me to lose control of my car. This needs to be recalled before someone gets hurt. In Canada and Germany Mercedes is fixing this for free. Why have Americans not been warned about this potentially deadly safety issue? I am reading many common experiences of cars with less than 50,000 miles on them.

-The rear subframe rusted through and broke. This made the vehicle extremely unsafe to drive. Braking caused the vehicle to veer right and was unsafe to stop. -Both a Mercedes dealership service center and an independent service center confirmed and verified the issue. -The part was inspected by the Mercedes dealership service center and the independent service center. -There were no warning lights or messages. The vehicle started making minor sounds in the rear of the vehicle prior to failure.

Certified Mercedes dealership confirmed that the subframe of my 2008 C300 is rusted and needs to be replaced which is under warranty. However, they are unwilling and do not acknowledge that the brake lines are also rusted and need to be replaced which is CAUSED by the rusted subframe. I first consulted my local mechanic shop who specializes in Mercedes repairs, and he told me about the issues of the corroding subframe and the rested brake lines. He also mentioned that he has helped and directed many Mercedes owners to call Mercedes customer service to voice my concerns as well as confirm the warranty of the subframe.

I honestly don’t know how Mercedes could have used such a cheap metal mix in their brake lines. Every single c300 made before 2012 is at extreme risk of brake failure every winter, the lines rust very easily and cause ruptures to happen as soon as you need to use your brakes in emergency. If you slam your foot on the brakes for a 2008-2009 Mercedes, you are putting your life at risk.

At only 59,000 miles, the brake lines of my Mercedes C300 suddenly developed a significant leak of brake fluid which caused the brake pedal to go all the way to the floor with minimum function. The car was immediately taken to the dealership where the service dept confirmed that all of the brake lines had become corroded and needed to be replaced. They also communicated that this was a common issue on these vehicles which I have further confirmed by identical complaints raised on the www.mbworld.org forum page. The manufacturer used faulty materials prone to premature corrosion and sudden failure for the brake lines on these vehicles which places drivers at a significant danger and safety risk. There should be an immediate recall of all of these vehicles to replace these defective brake lines subject to sudden failure at the expense of the manufacturer.

Error codes 1200 and 1208 regarding the lack of tension on the timing belt due to a worn sprocket. It was certified by two different Mercedes Benz mechanics with ample experience with these cars. Vehicle still runs but I was warned to stop it and fix it before it is a major problem.

MANIFOLD INTAKE CONTROL ARM BROKE AT AROUND 67,000 MILES CAUSING MAJOR ACCELERATION PROBLEMS PRIMARILY IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR AT LOW RPMS. IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. AFTER INSPECTING DESIGN OF INTAKE MANIFOLD, THERE ARE MANY PLASTIC PARTS THAT CAN BREAK OFF AND ENTER THE ENGINE CAUSING IRREPAIRABLE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEED ARE UNIMAGINABLE.

Pulled into parking space on side of street and turned off vehicle to pick up restaurant food. Returned to vehicle within 5 minutes, turned the key, and vehicle was dead. 93 year old mother was in car which was now stuck in parking space. We had to open the doors, due to vehicle windows not functioning, to try to prevent inside of car from overheating due to outside temperature. Called AAA, who arrived after about 45 minutes, tried to jump start car, indicated appeared battery was fine. Had to re-contact AAA to get car towed. Waited another 45 minutes for tow truck to arrive. Again checked battery and ignition, battery fine, car was locked in park and steering wheel was locked,. Towing technician had to lift up center console to reach underneath to switch to neutral. Technician had great difficulty getting car onto flatbed of tow truck because it kept slipping back into park. Adding to the difficulty was the location of the car in the parking space on the side of a busy street. Car was towed from Newport, RI to Tiverton, RI to Viti Mercedes dealer, who confirmed the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The final bill to repair this issue was $2,214.15. Upon review of other incidents that occurred with this make, model and year, there have been a myriad of accounts of this same issue going back many years. Based on the numerous incidents of this type and the potential safety devastation this could have caused, the $2,214.15 paid for repair in addition to $55 for towing should be reimbursed. This is a major safety issue that could be detrimental to the driver, occupants, towing company and other people around the disabled vehicle.

ON SUNDAY, JUNE 27, UPON RETURNING TO MY CAR I DISCOVERED THAT THE KEY WOULD NOT DISENGAGE THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK TO ALLOW ME TO TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION OR STEER THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE GEARSHIFT COULD NOT BE DISLODGED FROM THE PARK POSITION. I CONTACTED AAA. A TEST OF BATTERY REVEALED THAT IT WAS FULLY CHARGED. I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY DISENGAGE THE GEAR SHIFT AND PLACE THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE LOADED ON TO THE FLATBED TOW-TRUCK, AS THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOCKED AT AN ANGLE AND I WAS PARKED IN PARKING SPACE, BETWEEN THE SIDEWALK TO MY FRONT AND RIGHT SIDE AND A CAR TO MY LEFT. I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AND FIND AN ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF GETTING HOME. FIVE DAYS AND NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS LATER, AAA WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RETRIEVE MY VEHICLE. CONVERSATION WITH MECHANICS AT MB DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS MB TRAINED PRIVATE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED PROBLEM AS DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH (EIS/ EZS) AND ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (ESL/ ELV). I WAS EDGING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN A SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO ALLOW ANOTHER CAR TO PASS. MY CAR SUDDENLY SURGED AHEAD, HITTING FIVE OTHER VEHICLES AND A PEDESTRIAN, BEFORE SMASHING INTO A BARRIER THAT STOPPED IT. I WAS PUSHING HARD ON THE BRAKE PETAL THROUGHOUT, BUT IT HAD NO EFFECT ON STOPPING THE CAR. IT IS OF COURSE POSSIBLE THAT I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NOT THE BRAKE PEDAL. EXAMINING THE IDENTICAL MODEL OF THE CAR SUBSEQUENT TO THE ACCIDENT, I FOUND THAT, BECAUSE OF THE CLOSENESS OF THE GAS PEDAL TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE FOR A DRIVER TO HAVE HIS RIGHT FOOT PARTIALLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PARTIALLY ON THE ACCELERATOR. RECEIVED WARNING ON DASH TO CHECK REAR DRIVER TAIL LIGHT. TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THE WIRES FROM THE TAIL LIGHT WERE MELTED FROM THE ELECTRICAL PANEL AND MY CAR IS RUNNING ON BACK UP LIGHTS. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL BACK LIGHT SYSTEM SINCE THE MELTED WIRES WOULD EVENTUALLY DAMAGE THE ENTIRE BRAKE LIGHT SYSTEM. THE COST TO REPAIR $900. LAST WEEK I DROVE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. THEN I WENT TO THE GAS STATION AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR TO LEAVE, IT WOULD NOT START. IT DID NOT DO ANYTHING. I COULD NOT EVEN ROLL THE WINDOWS UP. THE CAR DID NOTHING OTHER THAN SAY "REMOVE IGNITION KEY." THE BATTERY WAS TESTED AND FINE. IT HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED 1 MONTH AGO. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO THEN SAID IT HAD TO BE BROUGHT TO THE DEALER. THE MERCEDES DEALER SAID IT WAS THE EIS/STEERING SWITCH. THE COST WILL BE $1900. I'VE CALLED OTHER MECHANICS. NO-ONE CAN FIX IT BECAUSE MERCEDES HAS THE PARTS AND CODING EXCLUSIVELY. THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY AND WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF AROUND $1500 OVER PHONE. FINALLY I HAD AAA TOW MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND GOT IT REPAIRED FOR AROUND $800. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THERE WERE 1000S OF THREADS ONLINE WHERE THE OWNERS OF 2008 AND 2009 C CLASS WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND HOW EACH ONE HAD TO SHELL OUT ANYWHERE FROM $1200 TO $1600 AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT REPAIRED. I CALLED MB AND THEY ADMITTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE BUT CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WAS QUITE APPALLED AT THIS SITUATION WHERE THIS BEING A KNOWN ISSUE FACED BY 1000S OF MB CUSTOMERS BUT MB WOULD NOT FIX IT. The contact owns a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated after the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an unknown recall repair, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The contact also became aware that the driver’s side headlight was inoperable. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a detached headlamp wiring harness. Car has been in and out of the shop. Initially I have been contacting Mercedes about airbag messages and continued message of SRS Malfunction on dashboard. Airbags had been recalled and supposedly replaced on multiple occasions. This SRS continues to remain even after repair or being seen for this issue only for other components to have failed and me having to pay for those in the process. The SRS Malfunction remains an issue until the next issue is affected. Recently an entire Electronic SAM Module Component was replaced as the culprit only to have more issues and the SRS remained. Mercedes has contended that each time they saw the vehicle the the SRS Malfunction was not the problems while other documents were repaired such as battery and SAM. In the meantime since then the car has stalled, components that were working are no longer inoperable. There was a recall that was applied to only specific vehicles of my model year which state the SRS Malfunction was to be replaced and made whole. I never received one of those notices and I will note that my vehicle obviously was affected and should also have this component replaced as it fits the same model year and make of the issues Mercedes has repaired already on affected vehicles. This issue has been on going for several years and Mercedes has failed to rectify this component that makes it dangerous and causes safety concerns for us with the understanding that their note on their website about the SRS Malfunction appeared to me a cop out for them to not be responsible for the fix and recall thsr may have affected more vehicles than its originally accessed number. Instead of fixing this issue they continually find other repairs they indicate as the issue only to end up right back with the same SRS Malfunction and stalling issues with vehicle once again and want to use excuse of car's age as issue and failing to acknowledge and address the SRS Malfunction. COULD NOT START MY CAR WHILE STATIONARY. PUT KEY IN THE IGNITION AND GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. NO DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. THERE WAS NO CLICKING OR NOISE...IT WAS JUST DEAD. THE ALARM SYSTEM AND HEADLIGHT AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ALL WORKING SO IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY. I CALLED ROADSIDE AND THE GAVE ME A JUMP, BUT CONFIRMED THAT MY BATTERY WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER WAITING FOR 5 HOURS. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT EVEN CONDUCT THE DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CAR UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING LOCK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $1000. THEY DID NOT EVEN OFFER TO LOAN ME A CAR, OR ASK IF I NEEDED TRANSPORTATION. SO ESSENTIALLY THEY LEFT THEIR CUSTOMER STRANDED! THIS IS NOT THE SERVICE THAT IS EXPECTED FROM MERCEDES! I HAVE HAD CARS (ACURA AND BMW) LONGER THAN MY 2008 C300 WITH MORE MILES WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE A REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING LOCK. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, attempting to stop, the vehicle failed to respond as intended and causing the contact to drive through a stop sign, then merge onto the interstate independently. The driver's side rear tire was leaking brake fluid. The check brake system warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake line was corroded. The vehicle was repaired under warranty for the subframe prior to the failure; however, the brake lines were not covered and needed replacement. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where the brake lines were pending replacement; however, the mechanic was waiting for parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 164,000.

AS SOON AS I COULD I BROUGHT IT INTO THE SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME IT WASN'T A BRAKE ISSUE, IT WAS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL PANEL THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT HE HAD JUST REPLACED THESE IN ABOUT 4 OTHER VEHICLES. SAME EXACT PROBLEM. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT READS THE WHEEL DATA FROM THE SENSORS AS WELL AS THE ABS MODULE WHICH PREVENTS TRACTION AND SLIPPAGE WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD, WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS, OR EVEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. THE CAR SEEMS TO FISHTAIL. IT ALSO PREVENTS STABILITY ON THE ROAD IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. I'VE ALSO NOTICED IT HAS AFFECTED OTHER AREAS OF THE CAR SUCH AS THE TURN SIGNAL, CRUISE CONTROL MECHANISM, STEERING COLUMN AND STARTING UP THE CAR HAS ALSO BEEN AN ISSUE. I'VE HAD TO TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET THE CAR STARTED. THE CAR IS ALSO DRIVING ROUGHER THAN USUAL. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR US BECAUSE I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND I HAVE A NINE YEAR OLD SON WHO DRIVES WITH ME FREQUENTLY. I'M WORRIED ABOUT OUR SAFETY. WHY DIDN'T THE DEALER TELL ME THIS WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR? ACCORDING TO WWW.AIRBAGRECALL.COM, IT WAS 2 RECALLS ON THE AIR BAGS LAST YEAR 2016, SO THEY KNEW IT WAS A RECALL. I COULD OF HAD AND ACCIDENT AND BEEN HURT REAL BAD. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THE MERCEDES DEALER AND PRESTIAGE AUTO IN RHODE ISLAND. I WILL BE TAKING FURTHER ACTIONS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THE AIRBAGS ON DECEMBER 23, 2017.

TAKATA RECALL -- I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING RECALL NOTICES FROM MERCEDES BENZ CORPORATE IN ATLANTA, GA, FOR YEARS. EVERY TIME I TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE BEEN TOSSING THE OLD LETTERS WHEN I RECEIVE A NEW ONE (THE LATEST ONE IS DATE APRIL, 2016). THIS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS CONCERN OF MINE; IN THAT, I AM THE PRIMARY DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE AIRBAG PROBLEM IS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I AM DISABLED AND HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS FROM RADIATION/CHEMO ON MY LEFT UPPER SIDE (STAGE 3 BREAST CANCER). MY RIBS BREAK VERY EASILY AND HAVE (ON ONE OCCASION BROKEN FROM SEVERE BRONCHITIS). I HAVE NOT FELT SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE SINCE RECEIVING THESE LETTERS. I NOW HAVE HAVE SEVERE BURNS (2ND AND 3RD DEGREE) ON MY LEFT HAND AND ARM. I AM ALMOST AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR. I AM A VERY CAREFUL DRIVER, BUT WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND MEDICAL CARE CAN BE FOUR MOUNTAINS (DRIVING TIME 1 HOUR, 50 MINUTES) AWAY, YOU ARE EXPOSED TO MANY HAIRPIN TURNS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF WILDLIFE RUNNING INTO THE ROAD. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS AROUND EACH CORNER. I DO NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT, SO THE "HEADLIGHT WARNING" WOULD NOT BE SEEN FOR ME. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY PROJECTION DATES AS TO WHEN THIS REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER (THREE OF THEM) LISTED ON WEBSITE AND NONE ARE ABLE TO HELP ME. I DO NOT WANT TO FEAR DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT COSTS (FULLY LOADED WITH MORE UPGRADES) $47,000.00. THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY TO FEEL UNSAFE. ALSO, MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON CONSTANTLY. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL LOCK MODULE WENT OUT ON MY CAR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH ANY "W204" 2008/2009 MERCEDES BENZ MODEL CAR. I'VE DOCUMENTED OVER A FEW HUNDRED CASES ALONE ON THE FORUMS ONLINE. THIS IS A DEALERSHIP ONLY FIX AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. MY 2008 MERCEDES AMG C63 HAD BEEN OPERATING WITHOUT FLAWS UNTIL RECENTLY, I PARKED, WENT IN THE GYM TO WORK OUT FOR 45 MINS. WHEN I CAME OUT AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, WOULDN'T COME OUT OF PARK. LEFT ME STRANDED. I HAVE READ DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE MERCEDES-BENZ FORUMS ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS OF 2008-2009 MERCEDES C63 SEDANS. MERCEDES HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN LISTING THIS AS A COMMON OCCURRENCE, AND THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN LOCK HAS TO BE REPLACED(USUALLY BETWEEN $1200-1500). THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, AND SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER RECALL, AS IT DRASTICALLY EFFECTS THE RELIABILITY AS WELL AS SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE, EVEN WHEN NOT MOVING. AT NO FAULT OF THE OWNER, OWNER WILL BE LEFT STRANDED ANYWHERE WITHOUT WARNING, AS NO MALFUNCTION INDICATOR DISPLAYS, VEHICLE JUST DIES SUDDENLY.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY C300 FOR THE LAST 3-4 YEARS AND HAVE MULTIPLE ISSUES RANGING FROM STEERING PUMP FAILURE TO CONDENSOR ISSUES AND LIGHTING ISSUES INCLUDING A RECALL FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS. YESTERDAY AFTER HAVING PARKED MY CAR FOR ALMOST 4 DAYS SINCE I COMMUTE FOR WORK AND TAKE TRAIN, UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO IGNITION. I COULD SEE THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER WAS VISIBLE AND I CAN ACTIVATE THE LOCKS WITH KEY, BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT START. CAR IS STANDING IN PARK POSITION SO I CANNOT EVEN MOVE IT TO NEUTRAL. I CALLED MBENZ ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT IS RELATED TO STEERING LOCK. NOW THAT I GOT IT TOWED, CHECKED WITH MECEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP I HAVE TO PAY ALMOST 1000$ JUST FOR THIS STEERING LOCK MALFUNCTION. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING TO A LOT OF C300 2008 MODELS. THIS SHOULD BE SEEN AS A SERIOUS ISSUE AS VEHICLE IS TOTALLY NON-FUNCTIONAL. MY WORK IS EFFECTED AND MISSED A COUPLE BUSINESS MEETINGS.

THE SERPENTINE BELT SHREDDED FOR THE THIRD TIME AFTER HAVING IT REPLACED TWICE WITHIN FOUR WEEKS. AS OF 4/15/2015 THIS CAR WILL HAVE ITS 4TH BELT INSTALLED. I DROVE TO WORK ON THE 29TH, AND TO AND BACK AN APPOINTMENT, I WENT TO LEAVE WORK THAT EVENING AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START. THE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. AND WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ICE STORM, I CALLED MERCEDES ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND I GUESS MY ASSISTANCE EXPIRED SO THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $175 TO TOW MY CAR, SO I USED MY VERIZON ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO PICK UP AND TAKE TO A FRIENDS SHOP TO FIX BUT BECAUSE OF THE STORM I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET MY CAR PICKED UP FOR 25 HOURS AND SINCE IT WAS FRIDAY NIGHT BY THAT TIME MY CAR DIDN'T GET LOOKED AT BY MY FRIENDS REPAIR SHOP UNTIL MONDAY 4 DAYS LATER I FIND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE CANT BE FIXED BY ANYONE ELSE BUT MERCEDES, BECAUSE EVERYTHING IN THE CAR IS SEIZED UP AND NO ONE KNEW HOW TO GET IT UNSEIZED. SO MONDAY AT NOON I CALLED MERCEDES ROADSIDEAGAIN TO GET THE CAR TOWED AGAIN. BECAUSE OF THE WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TEAM AT MERCEDES THEY ENDED UP SENDING 3 TOW TRUCKS OVER TO PICK MY CAR UP, THE FIRST ONE SHOWED UP AFTER MY FIRST SHOP CLOSED, THE SECOND TOW TRUCK WAS UNABLE TO PICK UP THE CAR BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW IT WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR SO FINALLY ANOTHER 24 HOURS HAD PAST BEFORE THEY GOT MY CAR WHICH IS 1/4 OF A MILE AWAY FROM THE REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS. MY CAR HAS BEEN BROKE FOR ALMOST A WHOLE WEEK KNOW AND STILL KNOW ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR IN THE MEAN TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO LOANER CAR FOR ME TO USE AND I SPENT 3 HOURS SITIING IN A DISABLED CAR IN AN ICE STORM WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO COME AND GET ME. The contact owns a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle slowed down independently and lost automotive power. The contact stated that the vehicle remained in the intersection while awaiting tow services. The contact stated that her boyfriend and son helped to push the vehicle to the right side of the roadway. The contact smelled a burning odor but was unsure where the odor was coming from. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that an independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ECU was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V704000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

The vehicle has been loosing power during driving. Acceleration will die, then power will return. In addition exterior lighting will also malfunction or not work. As well ans other items associate with power or the unit that controls the power of those items After taking the vehicle in multiple times we had been told and looked up about the recall. Multiple are in place but the recall regarding the electrical/ power train / lighting r/t units in place and this recall sounds spot on with issues the vehicle is having .

The contact owns a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an intake manifold failure. The contact was informed that the intake manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,151.

After repair done on the confirmed recall airbag computer/module my vehicle became immobile, malfuctioned. The vehicle warning lamps alerted the airbag malfunctioned, srs malfunction. I seeked service for repair of this recall by experts. This safety issue is still ongoing and urgency is needed for this to be resolved.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front passenger seat is not able to make adjustments. Seat has moved out of the rails, one side moves and the others does not move. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Passengers are stuck in the front, not able to make any adjustments. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, they are saying that the frame of the seat that has been made by Mercedes is like a sheet metal and very very brittle. The shaft has been bent overtime and moves out of the motor. When it bends the shaft is shortened and will move only one of the sides. One side moves and the other side does not move. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, it was inspected by the manufacturer but no action been taken. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO warning lights or anything.

When I was driving, the passenger active headrest suddenly deployed and pop out. I’m glad on one was on the passenger seat, and the airbags did not deployed. I’m concerned about the safety of airbags accidentally deploy in the future with the broken headrest.

HOWEVER, HE WANT AUTHORIZED TO ACCESS THE IGNITION, SO IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CAME BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS AND SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. FINE, I PAID A LITTLE OVER $1K FOR THE DESPAIR. I GO TO PICK IT UP THEN I'M TOLD IT SHUT OFF. THIS IS AFTER A FULL DIAGNOSTIC TEST. MIND YOU, MY MECHANIC CALLED THE REP AT MERCEDES BENZ AND TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUES WAS AND THEY IGNORED IT. FAST FORWARD, I TELL THEM IN MY FRUSTRATION TO GO AND FIX THE CAR. TRANSFER CASE RESEAL. I HAVE A 2008 C300 I BOUGHT WITH 56K MILES ON IT, I HAD TO HAVE THE WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. WHEN THIS SERVICE TOOK PLACE, I WAS INFORMED THAT I NEED TO HAVE MY TRANSFER CASE RESEALED AND THE CAM SHAFT MAGNETS REPLACED. THIS CAR HAS SUCH LOW MILES ON IT. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS NEEDED AT THIS TIME. I HAVE SEEN ON MANY BOARDS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T MB RECALLED THIS YET? IT APPEARS THE 2008 MODEL IS PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS AS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING LOCK AS WELL AS IT FAILED. AGAIN, COMMON PROBLEM AND NOT RECALL. I NOW HAVE A SEATBELT SENSOR THAT FAULTY. TWO SEPARATE INSTANCES OF COMMANDED ACCELERATION WITH 2008 MERCEDES C300. PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A PRIVATE USED CAR DEALER IN SEPTEMBER 2009 WITH 10,500 MILES. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2009 I EXPERIENCED FIRST INSTANCE OF UNCOMMANDED ACCELERATION WHILE SLOWING TO A STOP IN A DRIVEWAY. ENGINE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO A HIGH RATE AND STRUCK A PARKED TRUCK IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF CAR. SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND CAR SPED AT MAXIMUM RPM ACROSS LAWNS AND STREET UNTIL FINALLY RETURNING TO NORMAL. AT NO TIME WERE THE BRAKES ABLE TO HAVE ANY EFFECT ON SLOWING MY SPEED. THIS INCIDENT WAS NOT REPORTED TO POLICE SINCE NO SERIOUS PROPERTY DAMAGE OCCURRED. HOWEVER, I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED DEALER FROM WHOM WE PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY CLAIMED WE NEEDED TO CONTACT MERCEDES SINCE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN I VISITED THE LOCAL MERCEDES DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY, THEY INITIALLY EXPRESSED INTEREST IN INSPECTING THE CAR RIGHT AWAY HOWEVER NEARLY 2 WEEKS PASSED BEFORE THEY TOLD US TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR 3 DAYS AND TOLD US THEY FOUND NO MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL FAULTS. WE WERE GREATLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR FINDINGS AND SENT A CERTIFIED LETTER TO MERCEDES USA WITH FULL DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT. THEIR REACTION WAS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. WE CONTINUED TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE AND ON MAY 21, 2010 A SECOND INSTANCE OF SUDDEN UNCOMMANDED RAPID ACCELERATION OCCURRED. I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT A SLOW RATE WHILE SLOWING TO A STOP AS ANOTHER VEHICLE PASSED BY. SUDDENLY, THE MERCEDES ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND STRUCK THE PASSING VEHICLE CAUSING IT TO OVERTURN. THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE NEARLY IDENTICAL AND I AM POSITIVE THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT BEING DEPRESSED. CAR HAS BLUETOOTH CAPABILITY AND I HAVE A BLUETOOTH COMPATIBLE CELL PHONE. PERHAPS THIS CAUSED INTERFERENCE WITH SOMETHING IN THE ENGINE COMPUTER SYSTEM. MY CAR IS PRESENTLY IN AN UNDRIVEABLE CONDITION AND MERCEDES HAS NOT YET COME TO INSPECT IT.
