- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.

I was making a left at a stop sign when a dodge durango hit me head on and fell
Good evening, i drive a 2008 mercedes benz c300 sport which i financed from a vw dealer, which sold it as a pre owned/used vehicle still under warranty, regardless, i opted to ensure i had the maximum warranty available. On thursday, sept 03 i was involved in an accident while operating this vehicle. Inside the vehicle was a front passenger and a rear passenger as well, neither of whom i think were wearing seat belts. The accident occurred in wet conditions around a car, control was lost, went over middle medium, and head on with a tree. The point of impact was the front of the vehicle, seemed very dead center in between the two headlights. The trunk of the tree must have been over 5 feet in circumference, it was very big and stable. The gravitational pull and angle of impact caused for way more damage than normally at the speed of impact. The tree was moved back. None of the airbags in the car were deployed, and all three of the occupants were hurt. The car is currently at a towing lot and nothing has been done to correct any of the damage. *tr
Tl* takata recall. The contact owned a 2006 mercedes-benz c230. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle was involved in a side impact collision with a firetruck. The air bags deployed. There were three injuries that required medical attention. The front driver sustained lacerations to the face due to the air bag deployment, the passenger sustained brain damage, and the rear passenger sustained moderate bruising and pain. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard where it was deemed destroyed. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v081000 (air bags) after the crash. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. **tr *js
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230. While merging onto an intersection at 10 mph, another vehicle crashed directly into the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe damage. None of the air bags deployed and the seat belts failed to retract properly. Three occupants were moderately injured. The contact has a copy of the police report and pictures of the failed incident. He is in the process of calling the manufacturer in reference to nhtsa campaign id numbers 05v560000 (air bags). The failure and current mileages were 51,000.
I was involved in a 1 vehicle accident where the driver, left curtain and left side airbags were deployed. Upon close examination of the failing driver's airbag, i found obvious signs of perforations and burn-through. I was injured on my chin, face and forehead. This airbag was just recently replaced under recall campaign at the end of october this year, part of the takata ordeal.
I hit a bear in montana in my 2017 mercedes c300 at 86mph and destroyed the front of my car. The seatbelts deployed and wrenched us into our seats and smoke came out of the front air vents but the airbags did not go off. On the dash the vehicles stated that the airbags in all 4 zones in the car malfunctioned and service is required. Mercedes is stating that the light is from a seatbelt error code but the dash did not say anything about srs or seatbelts. I do not want to put my family back in the car and do not feel it should be repaired. Please see attached photos of the error messages on the dash. I do not know how i can hit something that hard and not have them deploy. Mercedes is doing an internal investigation but they have not given me the results of that and it has been over 3 weeks. Vehicle was in for a airbag recall not takata related on january of 2018 and this was supposed to have been repaired.
While driving my 2015 c250 coupe, i had to brake hard as i was trying to avert stopped heavy traffic. When i slammed on the breaks, the steering wheel, column and entire vehicle locked up. I was unable to turn the wheel entirely. As a result, my vehicle slide into another vehicle from behind. Because both the steering and brakes locking, i was unable to maneuver the vehicle to avoid the stopped traffic. The airbags also did not deploy as they should have.
I was in an accident that caused my car to be a total loss. I was hit near the front left side, close to the driver's door. The airbag did not deploy despite the hard impact. I am currently having to go to therapy due to impact. My right lower arm was bruised from the impact, and I was in a lot of pain due to the bruising caused. I am assuming the bruising came from the hit to the steering wheel. I was never notified of an airbag recall.
Tl* the contact owned a 2014 mercedes benz c250. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, a crash was attempted to be avoided causing the contact to crash into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained face lacerations and the passenger sustained a shoulder injury that required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000.
I have been having constant issues with the steering and airbag lights going on. I was also in a bad rear end wreck in 2016 and the airbags did not deploy. I have been calling santander consumers about the issue and they don't care and are still making me pay my more. The mercedes dealer has said that the recalls are pending and they do not have the parts to fix the issue. So i have stopped making payments because i have a toddler and will not drive a dangerous car and the car was recently repossessed last week. The airbag deploy lights constantly stay on indicating they are not working and the steering keeps locking up. It happens when the car is parked and in motion.

On oct 14th at night car was driven in heavy rain off interstate i5 off ramp to exit interstate. There were cars both in front and behind us exiting and upon driving further noticed there was standing water. Other cars were making it through slowly, there was no room to turn around. This car almost made it to the end of the offramp and then stallled. Other cars were forced to go around. Tried to restart the car to no avail. Called for roadside assistance. Noticed smoke coming from the hood and then all lighting went dark in car. Then saw flames from the hood. Quickly ran through water to escape and flames got several feet high. Passer by's had called 911 as entire front of car was engulfed in flames. Fire department had to cut open car hood to put out fire. Car damaged beyond repair and they too were incredulous that a new car would be engulfed in flames after stalling in the rain.
I was driving my car was sputtering or trying to shut off while I press the gas and I let go of the gas and it catches and stayed on. I took it to the dealership and they said they found nothing wrong. May 3rd around 12pm im driving on the freeway and as im getting on the express lane going 60 it dies and I couldn't move the steering wheel and I slammed into a guardrail. After doing research my car (vin [XXX] ) had multiple recals from the fuel pump and steering wheel and the dealership never fixed or checked any recalls before selling it to me. "takata recall" i was driving to work around 10:30 am in my 2009 mercedes benz c300 enjoying the commute. As i approached the stop light.....blank!!!! I lastly remember breaking ....to open my watering eyes to see that i hit another vehicle and don't recall anything at all. As i get up in realized that my head hurts and there was a small tear in the steering wheel as a small portion of the bag deployed but not fully.. It appeared to be a faulty bag that has caused this serious inconvenience.

Passenger seat caught fire when using the seat heater. Fire protruded through the side seat panel and burned driver and clothing. The driver was operating the car for about 15 minutes on a city street and pulled off the road to extinguish the fire. Portions of the seat melted.
I have black mercedes c230 kompressor sports sedan 2004 model. Car was purchased brand new at mercedes authorized dealer. There is no modification made to this car and all the servicing done at mercedes authorized dealer since i bought this car. It had only 58000 miles. Last b servicing which checked any safety related issues and includes regular maintenance, was done at authorized dealer on 02/18/2012. No issue was informed on 02/18/2012 to us by mercedes authorized dealer servicing department. On 06/21/2012, when i was driving this car from work to home, i turned on a/c, a/c shutdown and i started smelling smoke. On left side of my car there is a/c vent and i saw fire inside the hood through that vent.i pulled over car right away and electricity went out with in 1 min of my pulling over and within 4 min, whole car was burning. My car is now totaled. This poses following security concerns: 1. Mercedes c230 2004 is made of highly inflammable material and driver and users of car has very less chance to survive if there is fire. 2. Mercedes c230 2004 model a/c unit is not of highest quality and electrical system is faulty. Both of above issues poses very serious security risks to public and it needs through investigation. I contacted mercedes head quarter for investigation and mercedes declined to investigate. Geico stated in report that hood is stuck and cause of fire is unknown. Geico insurance company authorized mercedes engineers to investigate further upon my request and mercedes usa does not want to investigate further. I have pictures of burnt car and can share if it helps in investigation to rule out above 2 concerns. We do not want others to go through same ordeal as we went through. *tr updated 06/13/13*lj updated 06/17/2013 *js
Mercedes benz possible recall / extended warranty for fuel system... Involving a c class 2003 with same engine as the e class. The car fuel system is totally messed up, will only fill a half tank and runs out of gas because the fuel tank system is not working correctly. Car will not fill. Only one tank taking and sending fuel apparently. Dash is messed up, lights out, fuel system totally messed up. I almost went off a cliff in the car, slid backwards on a hillside when the car ran out of fuel unexpectedly. No gas, no power, my car went backwards, brakes not working, i went into a ditch and almost into a steep hillside, very scary. A car branch saved my demise, holding the top of the car and kept me from going down into a ravene. Dent on the back roof is still there. Mercedes benz refuses to acknowledge any problems although the problem is apparently prolific in cars this year and type. Same fuel system on a c320 as an e320 same year. Same engine too. My mechanics are baffled, no one can fix it, mercedes shops don't want to help, no one can help.
When driving 15 mph vehicle was involved in a collision. 15 seconds later, vehicle caught on fire. Due to severe fire damage vehicle was a total loss. *ak

The components of the engine being the camshaft adjusters, timing guide, timing chain, valves and pistons that all work to deliver power are faulty and have failed literally mid-drive. I was on a busy interstate during rush hour and nearly lost control of the vehicle as it just powered out while driving at 70 mph then forcing a semi to nearly terminate myself and family. The dependability and safety is abruptly ripped out from underneath you. Without even being able to control the vehicle and it coming to an abrupt, unsafe hault. There were no warning signs. The vehicle has since been looked at and informed me that an extended warranty is in place for half of all the parts and labor above.all should be covered and for safety.my nerves are a wreck and without a way to afford an entirely new engine I am left to contend with car payments for an unsafe undrivable vehicle. Since then the dealership recognized my concerns but has since stated that without a modification to the extended warranty or it being made a recall that there is nothing that can be done.
Tl* takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 mercedes-benz c250. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v043000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the passenger air bag warning indicator was illuminated. On one occasion, while the contact's vehicle was stopped, another vehicle crashed into its rear driver's side. The contact stated that the headrests detached due to the impact. The air bags did not deploy. The contact received injuries to the neck and back, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven. After the crash, the abs, air bag, and several other unknown warning indicators illuminated. Also, the brakes failed to operate properly and the vehicle began to stall. The contact took the vehicle to mercedes-benz of houston greenway (located at 3900 southwest freeway, houston, tx 77027, 713-489-211) where the brakes were repaired; however, the failures still occurred. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

Myself, as well as passengers have been cut by the sharp edge of the peeling chrome along the top rim of front cup holder. I told my dealership and they wanted charge me over $500 to replace it. When grabbing change, drinks, or anything from cup holder the front of ones hand is constantly exposed to this sharp edge. Not a safety issue but similar to the peeling chrome, the painted text on several control buttons on dash have been peeling off for several years. A clear sign of poor quality/craftsmanship. This is my first mercedes and i am not impressed with the interior craftsmanship of what is supposedly a top luxury brand. Also have had to replace battery 2 times in 2 years and have had problems with battery dying within first year of 2nd battery. Dealership wants to charge fee to inspect last battery.
Throughout the year, the car had many issues, the blind spot sensors and glass sensors didn't work, and it constantly showed that the stop/start system wasn't working. Twice, the car turned off by itself at a stoplight. Since everything is controlled through the car's large monitor, including the navigation, air conditioning, and all other functions, the monitor frequently shut off and it was necessary to turn it off and on again, or wait until the next day for it to work again. The scariest incident happened during a heavy rainstorm. I was driving on the road surrounded by other cars when my car suddenly stopped abruptly and began to park itself in the middle of the road. All sensors failed! The cameras were going in and out without stopping, all sensors were beeping loudly and flashing, the check engine light came on, and the blind spot sensors wouldn't turn off. I couldn't do anything with the car or control it. I turned the car off and on four times just to get it off the road. When I called Mercedes, they didn't think it was a serious problem and made me an appointment for a month later. I brought the car in, but they didn't give me any timelines or updates on what was happening with my car. I called them for five days, but they didn't even look at it. Please help me resolve the issue with my car and the dealership!
The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300. While driving at approximately 15 mph, the contact observed smoke emanating from under the hood. The vehicle was driven to her work location and parked. Upon exiting the vehicle and opening the hood, she observed orange flames coming from the engine compartment. A parking attendant extinguished the fire, and a police and/or fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and diagnosed with a fuel line leak that caused the engine harness to come apart. The leaking fuel hose from the high-pressure fuel pump caused damage to the high-pressure pump, engine harness, vacuum transducer, and coolant feed line from the thermostat to the firewall. The following components needed replacement: high-pressure fuel pump, rubber fuel hose, engine harness, pressure transducer, and intake manifold. The vehicle was repaired. Five months later, the contact experienced another failure she believes was associated with the engine fire. While parked and attempting to start the vehicle, it did not start. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and diagnosed with a faulty starter that needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,422.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 mercedes-benz c300. While driving approximately 71 mph, a knocking sound was present coming from the engine. The vehicle began to thrust back and forth as if it were running out of fuel. Also, a burning odor was present before the speed suddenly reduced to approximately 20 mph. The speed would not increase when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (smith motors in haverhill, ma) where it was diagnosed that the engine was faulty. The cause of the failure was not determined. After three months at the dealer, the motor was replaced to remedy the failure. While depressing the brake pedal, a screeching noise was present. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was determined that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 354.
Tl* the contact owned a 2016 mercedes-benz c300. While driving 15 mph, a fire erupted from the battery of the vehicle. The contact extinguished the fire and stated that water entered into the engine, which caused the vehicle to hydrolock. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and deemed destroyed. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the fire. The failure mileage was 18,500.
The contact owns a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50-60 MPH, the #1 piston cracked. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving, the vehicle was shaking and smoking. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the #1 piston was cracked, engine cooler, P0301 cylinder #1, P219 solenoid failure. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic and the engine was replaced. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 105,102.
Tl* the contact owned a 2014 mercedes-benz c250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle caught on fire without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred when retrieving the vehicle from the dealer and that the vehicle had been at the dealer for three months. The police department was called, but a police report was not filed. No injuries were sustained. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was towed to mercedes benz of palm beach (4000 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409). The manufacturer inspected the vehicle and stated that they were not liable for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 50,200.

While driving on the turnpike without warning my steering locked and I lost control of my car.
While driving on the freeway car pool lane with my wife, a sudden vibration in the front tires was observed, the car felt like it was pushed to the right then to the left even though it was in the center of the lane. Told my wife, "something is wrong with the car!" Thinking that I may have had a flat tire, I slowed down, the car went into a violent flat spin until the right rear end of the car hit the center lane divider. Airbags deployed. 911 was called, we were assisted by Highway patrol to the other side of the freeway. As the car was put on a flatbed tow truck, the tow truck driver commented that one of the front wheel was not turning. We found out that the right rack and pinion broke. The car was declared a Total Loss.

Tl* the contact owned a 2010 mercedes-benz c300. While driving approximately 20 mph through an intersection, the power steering suddenly failed and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two other vehicles. The driver sustained neck, back, and chest injuries. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed. A second person was injured from the second vehicle. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 67,000.
While driving in a curved onramp connecting from one street to another the vehicle experienced a complete loss of steering ability which resulted in the vehicle continuing to move straight, off the pavement, and into a wall. The vehicle bounced off of the wall and loss of steering ability continued and the vehicle could not be controlled, crossed the road, went over a guardrail, and down an embankment until it came to a stop (approx 100ft). The vehicle engine never turned off until it came to a stop at which point the vehicle was manually turned off. No airbags deployed. There were no warning lights or signals of failing components prior to the loss of steering. An initial review by the body shop states that the vehicle is a total loss. The vehicle has been meticulously dealer maintained since the time of delivery as a new vehicle. The vehicle is pending inspection by Mercedes-Benz and by the insurance representative. The issue appears to be the same as those recalls described by NHTSA campaign number 18V872000 and/or 18V850000. The vehicle was never included in either of those recall campaigns. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, but Mercedes-Benz is picking up the vehicle to perform its inspection.
I was driving on a straight away doing the speed limit which is reported seconds before the car crash. The steering wheel turned to the left really hard out of no where and wouldn’t let me gain control over the car again. I was sober it was 9am and I was aware of my driving. I ended up spinning out and landed in the ditch feet away from the light pole. I made it know to everyone what happened, but they looked at me crazy. I stopped driving that car and sent it back to Mercedes to get a detailed inspection. Which lasted about 30 days for them to get back to me about what happened. When I received the call to get my car they didn’t provide any information about the incident. Instead they just sent it to corporate and left me in the dark. I was in pain during this whole time. I was couldn’t find a lawyer that was willing to help. It’s been three years since the incident and I will have to live with pain for the rest of my life. It’s not fair that we need thousands of dollars to be heard. I have all communication and documentation that was given during the time of incident.
Steering failed at low speeds. Something broke. Caused me to lose complete steering. Very scary and dangerous

The subframe has rusted/fallen off. This is incredibly risky as the car cannot be driven safely and it happened without warning. My mechanic said it is not due to any driving incidents but through rust occurring on Mercedes' subframes, which are flimsy. It has been inspected professionally by a mechanic. There are NO warning lamps. This could kill someone on the highway as while braking the car veered left and right. I had small children in the car we all neck pain from the car veering while stopping on the highway. I have taken good care of my vehicle and have all maintenance current. This is a fault with the material on the subframe. For MB: All the subframes are on backorder and are incredibly expensive to fix. I have a video of the damage from the mechanic if needed.
Car damaged beyond repair and they too were incredulous that a new car would be engulfed in flames after stalling in the rain.
unknown but I have submitted a previous complaint.
Tl* the contact owned a 2013 mercedes benz c250. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact's vehicle was involved in a crash with another vehicle and exploded. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The air bags failed to deploy. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.
This is a well documented accident as it involved a police chase of a felon who ran a red light at approximately 50 mph. My car was hit on the left front side and is deemed totaled. No air bags deployed in my vehicle and i required emergency transport to the local hospital emergency room. This also involved a police shooting incident with the death of the other driver. The vehicle is pending towing to a salvage yard.the primary concern is a question of defective air bag deployment and future potential injury to others.
On june 9,2019 i was driving going to giant grocery store in west-bard shopping center in bethesda. .in the parking lot i lost control of steering column.hit a concrete pole and passed out.all of my airbags deployed, time was around i was driving on city road.from river road to westbard. I suffered brain, neck, chest and knee injuries. Sufferred transient global amnesiaf or nearly 4 hours or more. Still recuperating. Last two years getting letters for takata airbag recalls but nothing has been done, did not know that steering column had issues. I did manufacture recommended service.car has about 48,000 mile on it. It has multiple options upgrades.

While driving on the highway with the panoramic sunroof open, the glass suddenly shattered, sounding like a gunshot or an explosion. Shards of glass flew into the vehicle and rained down on me, creating a very hazardous driving situation. I did not observe any foreign object that could have caused the sunroof to break.
Fuel/propulsion System 463 Read
In july 2009, after filling my vehicle with gasoline (38,000 miles), i drove home, parked my vehicle in my garage and exited the interior. After exiting, i smelled the very strong odor of gasoline emitting from, what appeared the rear of the car. I did not see any leaks or any evidence of fuel, so i went inside my house. Several hours later, i entered my garage and was immediately overwhelmed with the fumes of gasoline. I checked my car again, but was unable to find any leaks. I then open my car door and the fumes were even stronger. After looking around, i noticed the odor was coming from under the rear seat. Fearing an explosion may occur, i opened my garage doors and car door and turned on several fans to "air-out" the area. The next day, i drove to the dealer and explained. The service manager said it was a common problem with my year and model and said the fuel gaskets were bad on top of the gas tank which is right under the back seat. He explained when filling up, the seals leak, become saturated with fuel and even saturate the bottom side of the seat. He said if i wanted it fixed, it would be an estimated $500. He also said if i did not want to pay to fix it, he suggested i only fill my tank to 3/4 so the seals would not become wet. I explained to him that my car was still like new with only 38,000 miles and mbz should fix the manufacturer defect at no charge. He refused. I continue to deal with this dangerous, faulty issue today. My car only has 79,000 miles on it and the problem continues to get worse. I noticed several others have the same problem and lawsuits have been filed, however, i do not know their status. Can you please assist me with this dangerous issue. My family and i suffer from severe headaches each time this problem occurs. Thank you very much.
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I recently noticed the smell of gas on this vehicle or of gas coming from my rear seat. I took it to a mechanic shop and he stated that the gas tank had a leak on top somewhere. He stated that this is a pretty common problem in these mercedes. My kids travel vehicle travel with. They end up with really bad headaches. I have read other posts that have the similar problem that i'm having. I think this is a very serious problem people could end up getting hurt. Some could get seriously hurt. I will copy this message. *tr
On the afternoon of February 6, 2024, as I was turning into my driveway to park in front of the garage, my car unexpectedly accelerated despite my foot being on the brake pedal. Despite my attempts to brake, the pedal didn't respond, causing the car to collide with the garage door and subsequently damage storage shelves and containers inside. My mother and two brothers were passengers, returning from my mother's doctor appointment, and she became trapped inside due to the garage door collapsing onto the car. Emergency services were called, and both the fire department and police assisted in freeing my mother from the vehicle. However, the police did not file an accident report since it occurred on private property. Subsequently, I contacted my insurance agent, and the car was towed to a repair shop recommended by the dealer. Today, I was informed by the repair shop that the damages are extensive enough for the car to be considered totaled by the insurance company. Fortunately, the incident did not occur while driving on the freeway or public roads earlier that day, potentially averting a more serious accident. Nevertheless, the ordeal has caused considerable stress and sleep loss for all involved. I have since reached out to the repair shop and dealer to conduct a thorough diagnostic analysis to determine the cause of the malfunction. I've requested copies of the data captured by the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) system and Event Data Recorder (EDR), emphasizing that this data should not be deleted without my consent. However, I am uncertain about the next steps if the insurance company removes the car from the repair shop and how to access the requested data. Upon researching online, I've discovered numerous similar cases involving Mercedes-Benz cars, with over 20 incidents reported and 11 specifically concerning the same model as mine.
I was moving my car from one parking space to another space in front of my house. As I was pulling into the new space, I stopped to check the position of my car. As I lifted my foot off the brake, the car unexpectedly started to lurch forward. When I released the brake pedal, the car suddenly accelerated and proceeded to jump the curb and run into the front of my house. Luckily, no one was injured. There was some damage to the exterior of my house. I have reported this issue to the car manufacturer, Mercedes Benz. In response, they have opened a case to research it further.
Tl* the contact owned a 2014 mercedes-benz c250w. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate on its own and the check engine indicator illuminated. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of palm beach (4000 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409, 561-689-6363) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While driving back home at approximately 30 mph, the driver heard a hissing sound and dark smoke gushed from underneath the hood without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. Flames approximately seven feet high poured out from the hood and engulfed the entire vehicle. The police and fire departments were called to the scene. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed back to the dealer. The dealer stated that the failure was not caused by the previous repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened an investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 50,187.
Extremely dangerous fuel leak - fuel started to leak from the top of the gas tank, inside the car from under the driver side rear passenger seat. Vehicle was taken to closest shop available when heavy fuel smells were noticed inside vehicle while driving. A local tire shop, hamil firestone, looked under the car and identified that fuel was leaking down the frame to the road. Somehow gasoline was actually leaking from inside the car. I contacted mercedes corp immediately and they sent a tow truck to collect the vehicle. I was told that due to the nature of the issue it was extremely dangerous to drive the car. Mercedes said that despite the car being out of warranty, something like this would go to "upper mgmt" for review and should be taken care of by merccedes. Now the vehichle is still at the local mercedes dealership where the have confirmed an issue with the fuel pump and seals, and that the car is definetly lesking fuel out onto the road.... But despite a recall on almost every other 2012 model car for the same issue, they are saying because this vin is not included it doesn't matter that it is doing the same thing. They want me to pay for the repair. I explained that i or my children, or even all of us could have been involved in a fatal car fire due to the issue!!! Mercedes direct response was, "that is the risk of driving a vehicle out of warranty." unacceptable!!!
There are small cracks that have developed in the top of the fuel sending unit. This allows fuel to leak out of the top of the fuel pump and pool in the center of the pump where there are a number of electrical wires that are submerged in fuel. This is a potentially deadly problem as there is a real potential for ignition of the leaked fuel which is right underneath the drivers side passenger seat where my 5 year old's child seat is located. There is also an extremely strong odor of gas inside the car which is strong enough to cause light headedness and possible syncope. This is an extremely dangerous situation. The ntsb opened up an investigation of this issue the national highway traffic safety administration opened a probe in january 2012 after receiving 20 reports in 2003-2006 e55 amg vehicles and expanded the probe last year into all 2003-2008 e-class vehicles. Owners said they reported a strong odor of gasoline fuel both inside and outside of their vehicle, particularly after refilling the fuel tank. Many complaints said the odor subsided after driving some distance thereby lowering the fuel level in the tank. Other owners reported they would only fill the gas tank to about three-quarters full to avoid the odor. Some owners said fuel leaked from the fuel filter/sender, located on the top of the fuel tank on the driver's side, and collected on top of the tank. This is a known issue but there are other models and year models that are affected and did not fall under the mercedes recall campaign.

The warning system for the rear lights have been going off since purchasing the certified preowned vehicle in june 2014. It was returned the dealer multiple times for the issue and never fixed. While driving at night i smelled something burning and the warning system informed me to check all of my rear lights. There were no lights functioning on the rear of the vehicle while driving. The lights, brake lights, turn signals, and rear fog lamps were all not functioning. When a road side technician checked the vehicle he saw burnt wires and melted plastic on the lighting mount. This occurred during a routine trip from new jersey into philadelphia, pa and included driving over the ben franklin bridge. Once i reach philly i stopped the vehicle and called for assistance. That is when the issue was located. The car was towed to the dealer for repair. No more information has been provided from the dealer yet. *tr

The subframe has rusted/fallen off. This is incredibly risky as the car cannot be driven safely and it happened without warning. I was involved in a accident at a stoplight. While waiting for the light to turn green, my car accelerated and i ran into the back of a pickup truck. The truck did not have a scratch on it. I had $over $8,000 damage. The whole front of my car was damaged (smashed up into the windshield). The car was taken to a body shop and repaired. I now find out 3/15/2014 the car has a bent k-frame not to mention the work was shoddy on the body work. I have not had any more accidents. I had just purchased the car the month before as a used vehicle. I want to know why the insurance adjuster did not notice the bent k frame. I now have to pay out of pocket to find a used k frame and pay for the labor. I have driven this car continuously since having it repaired. I moved from new jersey to south carolina driving this car. Something could have happened. Fortunately i've been lucky but what happens now, my new tires in the rear (which i think may have been like this when i bought the car) wear out within 6 months and i often wondered why. The car shakes (the k frame) and the steering wheel has a lot of play in it which i was told will always be like that unless i get it repaired. I have put an insurmountable of money into this car and i'm very disappointed. If it wasn't for the auto shop who put my new tires on last week, i would not have known about this problem. I feel i've been cheated and this car should have been totaled and i given another car! Now i cannot afford to get another car right now and i'm scared to drive it. *tr
While driving, consumer made a right turn onto a ramp. The vehicle slid which caused the esp (electronic stability program)to engage which resulted in vehicle hitting into the curve and damaging the front and rear left vehicle suspension. Ts there is a glitch in the esp system. When braking the esp kicks in as if the vehicle is sliding when it is not. This is what caused the vehicle to crash into the curb instead of braking as intended. *jg
Dealership: Mercedes-Benz of Santa Fe, 2586 Camino Entrada, Santa Fe, NM 87507 I am filing this complaint regarding multiple unresolved safety defects in my 2024 Mercedes-Benz C300 persisting across numerous repair visits since February 2026. Defect 1 – Recurring Strut Assembly: Following an AC sensor replacement on February 11, 2026, a loud rattling noise emerged from the dashboard/strut area. The vehicle was retained 22 days without resolution. The strut plate was repaired, but the noise recurred. Parts were ordered for the strut assembly, requiring me to drive the defective vehicle for approximately two additional weeks. As of June 8, 2026, the noise remains unresolved. A defective strut assembly affects handling, stability, and steering — creating serious risk at highway speeds. Defect 2 – Safety Systems Disabled: Following the strut plate repair, all driver assistance systems — including collision avoidance and lane keeping — were completely disabled. A warning message confirmed the systems were inoperable. A subsequent software update was required to restore them. Defect 3 – Check Engine Light; Dealer Advised Continued Operation: While driving with the unrepaired strut assembly, the check engine light illuminated. I have photographic evidence. Service Manager Simon explicitly advised me it was safe to continue driving. I contest this. I was not provided a loaner vehicle. Inaccurate Service Records: On June 5, 2026, service notes falsely stated the check engine light was not illuminated. I presented photographic evidence to service representative Robert Rodriguez, who verbally confirmed the photograph. The record was not corrected, potentially obscuring defect patterns from NHTSA review. I respectfully request NHTSA add this complaint to the public database, investigate whether this model has a safety-related defect pattern, and review the dealership's practice of advising consumers to operate vehicles with known structural defects.
The contact owns a 2023 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG. While driving into a parking lot at a very slow speed, the braking system suddenly activated, and the vehicle shut off. After restarting the vehicle, the messages "Rear Axle Malfunction", "Active Braking System Limited" and "Inoperative" were displayed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,600.
Driving and something came from underneath the vehicle and cause me to swerve in all the airbags deployed
Uneven wear pattern. The wear often occurs on inner shoulder of the tires 5k to9k miles, which can be dangerous tire can wear down to belts on inside edge while the outer tread still looks fine. i have brought this to dealership multiple time with NO FIX but to sale me new tires and alignments.I have spoke to multiple owners of 2020 mercedes c63 and they have the same problem. This is a safety issue and has left my wife and kids on the side of freeway broken down.
