THE CONTACT ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED FOR THE AIR BAG INDICATORS. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT A FAULTY CHILD WEIGHT OCCUPANCY SENSOR CAUSED THE FAILURE. The problem is that the steering wheel locking mechanism has failed. The vehicle could not be started or driven. It required a flatbed tow to an authorized Mercedes repair facility. It was diagnosed as the steering mechanism, requiring replacement. The cost for this repair is $1400.00. I researched this problem on the MB website and it stated that this issue was common. I feel that this is a safety issue and should be repaired free of charge or at a significant discount. The car is currently being repaired, and I can forward any relevant documentation to you once the repair is complete.

Vehicle has lost its ability to be driven. Car alarm has gone of a multitude of times at different hours of day and night. Finally we were told that the steering column needs to be replaced. According to tow truck driver, Auto lock person, this is common from the 300 series of Mercedes Benz. Obviously very costly. My car is worthless at this point. I believe that the Mercedes Benz should have a recall on the steering column lock. Obviously, this is not only a defect but, also causing safety issues with it just turning off and not able to restart.

2009 C300 at 120k miles car won’t start. Dashboard indicates “remove key from ignition” key was not in ignition, had car towed to the dealership, they said car needs a new steering lock and ignition switch due to malfunction. Total cost $1923. Thankfully car was not in motion when this happened. Please do a recall on steering lock and ignition switch for the safety of everyone!!!!

Had it towed to dealer and they seemed to be familiar with everything they needed to order to fix it without blinking. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Headlight harness on drivers and passenger side is melting and my lights are flickering. I was advised to night drive my vehicle at night, because it could start an electrical fire. This is caused by heat from the lights.

While driving and when parked the headlights flicker on and off. I have no headlights while driving at night, during adverse weather conditions and during dawn hours. I could crash into other drivers, or they could crash into me because they can’t see me. When a parking bulb blows it fuses and melts everything together causing the replacement of the entire headlight unit, this has happened twice.

THIS 2009 C300 WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE FL AS A RETIREMENT GIFT FOR 20 YEARS OF NAVAL SERVICE. ABOUT A YEAR LATER I NOTICED THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS CONTINUOUSLY BLINKING DURING THE DAY. THE NEXT PROBLEM IS WITH THE FRONT HEADLIGHT UNITS EACH TIME A BLUBS BLOWS, IT FUSES EVERYTHING INCLUDING WIRES TOGETHER REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT UNIT. THIS HAS HAPPEN THREE TIMES WITH BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT HEADLIGHT UNITS. THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE IS $28.00 FOR A REPLACEMENT BLUB VISE $600.00 PLUS DOLLARS FOR THE ENTIRE UNIT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO PROBLEM CHARGING ME THE COST TO REPLACE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL OF THIS UNIT.

SOCKETS FOR THE PARKING LIGHTS ABOVE THE HEADLIGHTS MELTED. KNOWING THAT SOMETHING SIMILAR WAS ADDRESSED WITH THE TAIL LIGHTS, SEEMS TO BE RELATED. THE TAIL LIGHTS MELTED THE CARRIER AND THE CABLES NOW THE SAME IS HAPPENING ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF MB C300 EXPERIENCING A ISSUE. THE WIRING TO THE HEAD LAMBS (BOTH) ARE BURNING UP, CAUSING A BURNT SMELL IN THE CAR, COMPANY SAYS TO BUY NEW HEAD LAMPS. THE ELECTRIC WIRE SYSTEM IN THE CAR HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE BEGINNING. EVIDENTLY THE HEAT IN THE MOTOR AREA IS TO MUCH FOR THE QUALITY OF THE WIRING COVERS AND THEY CAUSE LAMP BURN OUT,AND BURN THE PLASTIC WIRE COVERING. CAR IS USED FOR PLEASURE HAS VERY FEW MILES. VERY HARD TO TAKE A PICTURE , TECH HAD A HARD TIME GETTING TO IT.

While driving the car on [XXX] at 9pm on sunday, [XXX] in lane two during a heavy rain a audible clicking noise came from the drivers side front of the dash instrument cluster area and all of the lights on the car simultaneously turned off without ever touching the light switch i was unable to see the road in front of the vehicle also the windshield wipers quit working and the radio and navigation display went off and closed and opened and closed( turned off and then on and off again) the instrument cluster went dark as well, luckily i was able to turn the steering and apply the brakes and steer the vehicle onto the shoulder of the road and come to a complete stop after several attempts to turn the headlights back on i determined that the vehicle was not safe to drive , and had the vehicle towed to a reputable mechanic, and upon diagnosis he contacted me and stated that the drivers side front signal acquisition module A. K. A. the (sam) module had failed due to water intrusion into the fuse panel sam module area , the mechanic stated that i should file an incident /complaint form with your office , upon searching the MERCEDES BENZ forums and sites on the www i found many customers with a broad range of models (w204)approximately this same year model have identical complaints and nothing has been done by MB usa to remedy the problem, i believe this matter to be a major safety concern and i am wondering why this matter hasnt been taken into consideration by your agency and by MB usa as a safety recall to replace the failing modules and retrofit the fuse panel sam module area to prevent water intrusion thats causing the obvious safety concern and possible liability on the part of the MB/ DAIMLER corporation. it seems this is clearly a problem and it needs fixed we are terrified to drive the vehicle for fear of a repeat incident. Last week just before Thanksgiving my car of 134,000 miles wouldn't start. Had it towed to my mechanic only to find out like so many others that the Electronic Steering Module(ESL) is 1,500.00 defective. Yet with this being a common issue there is no recall. guess I'm going to a Toyota.

The contact owns a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch and the steering lock had failed and needed to be replaced. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the parts were available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

Rear passenger tail light housing melted together the connector/ harness to the housing. Limiting the power to the light bulbs and or blowing them before they should be burnt out or not working at all periodically. Effectively limiting the safety of having the brake light or parking lights or even the blinker work like they're supposed too

MY EIS/ESL WENT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE. IT'S A COMMON ISSUE FOR MERCEDES AND IT PLAGUES EVERY MERCEDES. IT'S A SAFETY HARZARD AND HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. MERCEDES ALSO CHARGES $1500 OUT OF WARRANTY TO GET IT FIXED WHEN IT'S A COMMON ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED.

CAR WAS PARKED BY SIDE WALK NEXT TO MY HOUSE. INSERTED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURNED IT. THE CAR DID NOT START, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. NO LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED ON TRUCK BED SINCE IT'S REAR-WHEEL DRIVE. DEALER TOLD ME IT'S THE IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER. COST $1500 TO FIX. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. NOT FAIR.

TURNED IGNITION KEY TO START VEHICLE. NOTHING HAPPENED. NO CRANKING OR CLICKING. COMPLETE SILENCE. STEERING WHEEL AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WERE BOTH LOCKED INTO POSITION AND COULD NOT BE MOVED EVEN THOUGH IGNITION WAS IN THE 'ON' POSITION. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH A DEFECT IN THE 'ELECTRICAL IGNITION SYSTEM/ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (EIS/ESL)' AND IS THE SUBJECT OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS CONDITION OCCURRED ON ONE PREVIOUS OCCASION WITHIN THE LAST 45 DAYS. ON BOTH OCCASIONS VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY HOWEVER IF IT WERE OCCUR WHILE MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK AND DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. The contact owns a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the connector for the rear taillights was melted into the bulk assembly mount and needed to be replaced. The contact was then informed by the dealer of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V177000 (Exterior Lighting) however, the dealer confirmed that the recall was previously completed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was promised a call back however, the contact had not yet received a response. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

I noticed my right tail light has completely went out and related damage to the brown wire connected to the entire casing. Per recall campaign: 2014050001; NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 14V177, "Oxidation on the ground pin connector for the rear tail lamps of subject vehicles can result in a dimming of the tail lights or loss of tail lamp functions. The loss of a rear tail lamp reduces the rearward visibility of subject vehicles, especially with respect to turn signal illumination and may increase the likelihood of a rear end crash". I recently called a new certified Mercedes Benz dealership near me who states this recall has been closed, however, there is no specific indication on whether that was the right or left tail light. Regardless, a recall covers both whether it happens simultaneously or at different increments. My requested resolution: to simply acknowledge the recall to replace this time the right tail lamp. Especially since any wiring issues poses risk of shortage or fire.

After noticing brake fluid leaking I took my car to a local automotive shop and when he raised it to checkout the break line when he found the leak from the rust . he noticed a more serious problem that the subframe was rusted out on each side. He told me to contact Mercedes immediately because the car is unsafe to drive.

As I was driving from work, I noticed that when I started using the brakes I starting hearing a metal sound coming from the back, the day after I looked down and realized a whole part from the sub frame was completely broken and the part is corroded.

Rear subframe rusted through near connection with control arm. This left the rear wheel connected to the rest of the car only through an axle and sway bar. This is a very common issue on these vehicles, and was remedied through the replacement of the subframe.

Vehicle inspection by independent service center indicated that a new rear frame was necessary. This was the second communication to nhtsa on this issue. This automobile (2009 c300) is inoperable due to this Mercedes rear frame defect .

This car I have owned since brand new and I am the original owner. This car has never been used in winter despite I live in New York and always has been maintained in very good condition however, this car has developed noises from the rear when driven. I took the car to my trusted mechanic and he found out that the rear subframe has corrosion making it unsafe to drive.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they discovered that the subframe had cracked due to severe corrosion. The dealer was contacted about the failure, and she was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was given a case number. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 94,200.

My spouse was driving approx 40MPH. Traffic light turned amber so she applied the brakes, at that point the vehicle pulled violently to the left into on coming traffic and at the same time the vehicle rear end was fish tailing out of control.Our mechanc inspected the vehicle and discovered the rear sub frame assembly had cracked on the driver side. We were advised by the mechanic this car is un driveable. Our Insurance appraiser inspected the vehicle and stated this is very common with this model vehicle and is a very bad design flaw. I contacted the Mercedes dealership and they advised there is no re-call on the subframe so I would need to pay $4000-$5000 for the repair. This vehicle is worthless to me now and is a grave safety risk to drive. I do not have the funds to fix this vehicle so I am now without a car. Mercedes customer care will not even answer any telephone calls. I have called 3 times and been on hold for over 60 minutes each time. This design flaw needs to be corrected by Mecedes before someone gets killed.

At a recent VA state inspection the mechanic noted that the "rear sub-frame rusted and rear coil springs bottoms are weak." This becomes a potential suspension issue and the sub-frame should not be rusting out so quickly. Additionally, when researching online it seems prohibitively expensive to replace the rear sub-frame but this is a safety concern and I have noted that a large number of these sub-frames are being replaced..

THERE IS A SMELL OF EXAUST FUMES OR PERHAPS BURNED OIL IN THE CABIN. AFTER ACCELERATING THE SMELL IS STRONGER. OPENING ROOF OR WINDOWS DOESN'T HELP.CAN ONLY SMELL WHEN DRIVING.

The contact owns a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving and activating the turn signals, the taillights were inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated while driving and depressing the brake pedal to come to a stop, the brake lights were significantly dimmed except for the third brake light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V177000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear subframe was corroded and needed to be replaced. The mechanic contacted the dealer to order the replacement part and was informed by the dealer that there was a recall for the subframe; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The contact veered to the side of the road. After looking under the vehicle, the contact noticed that the subframe located next to the gas tank was fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear subframe had fractured from the weld point. However, the parts to do the repair were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

The contact's son owns a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for servicing, he was informed that the subframe was severely rusted. The contact stated that his son then informed him that while he was driving approximately 50 MPH and depressing the brake pedal to come to a complete stop, the vehicle started wobbling significantly. The dealer replaced the subframe, the rear tires, and completed an alignment on the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000. Vehicle has been repaired.

I OWN A 2009 C300 SERIES MERCEDES BENZ. WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IN 2010 AS A DEMO WITH ONLY 12,000 MILES ON IT FROM THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP. Went to the Mercedes dealership service department to replace the rear subframe that suddenly broke while I was driving due to extreme rust/corrosion. The dealership stated that it was being covered under the extended warranty due to the recall related to the rust/corrosion issue with the subframe. I was advised by the mechanic that the brake lines will need to be replaced due to extreme rust/corrosion in the rear at the same exact location of the rear subframe, making the vehicle very dangerous to drive because the brake lines could break at any moment and cause sudden brake failure. I was quoted a very significant amount to replace the rusted brake lines and per the dealership, it will not be covered under any extended warranty and/or recall.

Rear brake lines corroded leading to loss of brake fluid while on the road. My at the time 4 year old son and I were in the car (I was the driver). This was in December of 2022 so almost two years ago. Earlier that year, MB dealership warned me about rear sub frame being corroded, too, but the cost of repairs ($7,000) were out of reach. There were no warning signs the day brake line started leaking other than a dashboard message to check the brake fluid and I felt I could not really stop my car. Car was taken to a local shop and the rear brake lines were repaired for $1,158. on 12/12/2022. Then this spring 2024 rear sub frame fell apart while switching my winter wheels to all year wheels/tires. MB USA honored this repair through the extended warranty.

THE CONSUMER REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 22V315. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DECLINED ANY ASSISTANCE STATING THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REIMBUREMENTS THE PAYMENT DESPITE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY.

I took my vehicle to the Mercedes dealer for inspection on 7/13/22. It passed inspection, but I was told that the brake lines were very corroded and they recommended replacement before driving. Their cost to repair was $2825. I only have 54,000 miles on the vehicle. I checked on the internet to see if there were any other reported brake line issues with a 2009 Mercedes C300 and was shocked to see how many people had the same issue, some reporting that they lost brake power and had a very terrifying experience. Of course I am now afraid to drive the vehicle and not sure what my course of action will be. With the number of reported incidents, I feel that Mercedes used inferior materials that corrode readily and should have some accountability in remedying the situation. I am including some photos of the corrosion that were provided to me by the dealer.

LAST WEEK TOOK VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED AT MERCEDES BENZ OF BEVERLY HILLS. WHEN I GOT IT BACK I HEARD A WHISTLING/FLAPPING NOISE. IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO MERCEDES SERVICE. EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT A 1100 MILE ROAD TRIP AHEAD AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. WAS REASSURED IT WAS JUST FINE. UPON ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION THE NOISE ESCALATED NON-STOP COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE BELT TENSIONER ON MY VEHICLE. THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS NEARLY SHREDDED. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 70,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER DOING SOME QUICK SEARCH ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, BUT RATHER A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'M PISSED THAT THE SERVICE ADVISOR PLAYED STUPID AS IF THIS WAS NOT A KNOWN WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND PUT MY SAFETY AT RISK. CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. I WAS 120 MILES FROM HOME WHEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START -- EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY, LIGHTS, STEREO, GAUGES, ETC. ALL WORKED FINE. STILL, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T EVEN CRANK, HAD CAR TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MERCEDES REPAIR FACILITY (IT WAS A SUNDAY AND THE LOCAL MERCEDES SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT OPEN). THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH (EIS) AND OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1526.94. MONTHS LATER I VISITED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF MERCEDES AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. WITH A PROBLEM THIS WIDESPREAD -- WHICH CAN OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE LIFE OF THE CAR -- MERCEDES SHOULD FOOT THE BILL. I WOULD HAVE COMPLAINED EARLIER BUT ONLY NOW LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME DEFECT. MY CAR HAD ONLY 37,110 MILES AT THE TIME. I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED MY MERCEDES.

The caption and case number is Sowa et al v. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC et al., [XXX] MBUSA has extended the warranty on the rear subframe of several vehicles. The link to this in on your website: [XXX] One the last page of the PDF file on your website it states: When will customer letters be mailed for this warranty extension? The warranty extension customer notifications are scheduled for mailing on: March 10, 2023, and continue in waves through May 19. We have three cars in my family that are in this "extended warranty" at three different households. No letter was received at any of the three households regarding any of the three cars. If you look up the three cars Vin #'s, all three have no recalls on them and nothing relating to an extended warranty on a rear subframe. So, MBUSA, has brilliantly side stepped issuing a recall which would come up on a Vin $ search. They have not sent out the letters of notification. So, almost all owners will not be aware of the deadly impending time bomb they are driving. As these cars age further the ones that have yet to fail will fail and people will die. I called today, 10/24/2023 Reference # for the call [XXX] to let the NHTSA know the above and that if you allowed MBUSA to NOT issue a recall because they agreed to send letters of notification - well they did not do that and people are at risk. This seems like a loophole to me. No recall, we will extend the warranty and then not let anyone know much lower cost than recall and fixing. The NHTSA - should get the contact information for all the customers affected and hire a third party to send the notices and have MBUSA billed for that service. This would ensure people are notified. I was advised by the NHTSA staff on my call to file a claim with the BBB. That seems ridiculous. I will keep a copy of this filing; so, I can send it to the news channels to show how the NHTSA given due notice did nothing. Was told by a mechanic that there is a safety recall for sub frames on Mercedes vehicles. After an inspection the mechanic noted that it was suggested to replace due to a recall on the c-class models. After looking up the VIN it suggested that a 2009 does not have a recall - same sub frame issue.

I am 80 years old, and disabled. Gave this car to my son, (age 53). Within a month, he experienced a potential LIFE THREATENING incident with the car. While driving, the car became very unstable and steering was almost impossible. The car was towed to A-1 Auto Repair in Pitman, New Jersey for analysis. This establishment has an excellent reputation for Mercedes-Benz repairs. Upon extensive review the shop advised "customer vehicle is very unsafe to operate and should not be driven"The Invoice states " ...During road test vehicle is unstable and steering and braking are out of specification and feels very unstable to operate. Checked vehicle suspension and undercarriage to diagnose rear subframe rusted off body mounts. and is hanging off left rear of body and subframe. Needs extensive repairs to undercarriage and subframe needs replacing with new body mounts.Advised customer vehicle is very unsafe to operate and should not be driven! ... There was no warning of this problem. The car has been garaged since purchased. Car regularly maintained by dealership. No mention ever made of RUSTING ! Mercedes states not there problem since warranty has expired.

I'M THE OWNER OF A 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ C300 4MATIC SPORT, WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2012 FROM A MERCEDES DEALER. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 60,400 MILES. IT WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND AFTER HEARING SOME CLUNKING NOISES, ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING OR TURNING, THEY DISCOVERED RUST, CORROSION, AND CRACKING TO THE REAR SUBFRAME. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF MERCEDES. THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS POSTING COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE REAR SUBFRAME CORROSION IS ESTIMATED TO COST ABOUT $3-4K TO REPAIR. THE LOCAL MB DEALER REVEALED THEY ARE ACTUALLY REPAIRING A CAR WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM, AS WE SPEAK. ANOTHER CALL TO MB FOR PART PRICING INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON, KNOWN PROBLEM. THE CAR DOES NOT PASS INSPECTION AND HAS BECOME A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. WITH SO MANY KNOWN CASES AND OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS, MB SHOULD RESOLVE THIS DEFECT AND PLACE IT UNDER RECALL. MANY OWNERS MAY NOT EVEN KNOW THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM. DRIVING A VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE INJURY OR FATALITY TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS, AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. Rear Subframe gets rusted and breaks is an issue with most of mercedes c300 to the point the part is back order in USA and Germany its a safety issue and there should be a recall for it when I called mercedes benz they told me they get at least 3 to 4 calls a day about that issue and people can't find the part it's a comment issue and it sounds be resolved.

TOTAL 4 WHEELS LOCK AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. RECENTLY, A VERY UNSAFE INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED TO ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING ON 202 SOUTH HEADING TOWARDS WEST CHESTER, PA NORTH OF EXIT 29; MY SPEED WAS ABOUT 50 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WENT FROM 50 MPH TO A COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLED FULL STOP WITH 1 TO 2 SECONDS. THE TIRES LEFT SKID MARKS ON THE ROAD. THE SEAT BELTS AVOID ME FROM BEING THROWN OUT OF THE CAR. I TRIED TO MOVE THE CAR IN ORDER TO AVOID TRAFFIC COMING AT ME AT 50 MPH BUT I COULD NOT. THE WHEELS OF THE CAR SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND THE CAR COULD NOT BE MOVED. LUCKILY, THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS ABLE TO STOP WITHOUT ANYONE GETTING HEART. ALSO ALL THE INCOMING CAR AT THE HIGHWAY SPEED WERE ABLE TO SUDDENLY AVOID HITTING ME. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR ANY INDICATION THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MULTI CAR ACCIDENT WITH POSSIBLE MAJOR INJURIES OR POSSIBLE FATALITIES. I PARKED THE CAR, AND TURNED IT OFF COMPLETELY. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR, THEY KEY FOB WOULD ONLY TURN THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT START. THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED, AND I CANNOT CHANGE THE GEAR FROM "P". A MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR "REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION" WHENEVER THE DOOR IS OPEN. I HAVE SEARCHED AND IT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE MODELS, WHERE THE EIS OR ESL FAILS FOR NO REASON. THE QOUTES FOR THIS REPAIR RANGE FROM $1000 TO $3000. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO MY APARTMENT, AND NOW I HAVE TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN SOLVE THIS ISSUE AND REPROGRAM IT AFTER INSTALLING THE NEW PARTS.

WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AFTER GROCERY SHOPPING IN THE EVENING, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WORKED AND THE SEAT MOVED, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. I HAD THIS CAR CHECKED NOT TOO LONG AGO AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE, BUT THE CAR JUST DECIDED NOT TO WORK SUDDENLY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY SCARY FOR A FEMALE STRANDED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT AT NIGHT. I DID NOT GET ANY WARNING MESSAGES BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND TRY JUMP STARTING IT FIRST, WHICH WASN'T THE PROBLEM AS THE BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED. I ENDED UP HAVING TO TOW THE CAR EARLY NEXT MORNING BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS CLOSED AND HAD TO TAKE A CAB HOME. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER AND STATED ALL THE "SYMPTOMS", MB KNEW RIGHT OFF THE BAT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, WHICH TO ME IS ALARMING. FUEL PUMP HOUSING CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING FUEL. THIS IS A PLASTIC PART. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT, SO THERE WAS FUEL INSIDE THE CAR. I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR AND UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THE FAILED PUMP WITH GAS LEAKING FROM IT.

AS I WAS DRIVING I HAD A LIGHT COME ON MY DASH TELLING ME I HAD LOW COOLANT AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE IT FILLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES SINCE MY SHORT OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SEALED UNIT AND SHOULD NOT BE LOSING ANTIFREEZE ANYWHERE. I HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY LEAKS WHATSOEVER. WHEN I ADD THE COOLANT, IT SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY LOW. I AM CONCERNED THAT I MAY HAVE SOME BIG ISSUES ON MY HANDS AND COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE A HYDRO-LOCKING OF THE ENGINE PROBLEM CREATING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE LEADING TO A CRASH. AFTER A BIT OF RESEARCH I AM FINDING THAT THE MB C63 HAS "HEAD BOLT" ISSUES LEADING TO THE LOSS OF COOLANT AND ENGINES BLOWING UP AND OR HYDRO-LOCKING. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A REPLACEMENT 2010 VERSION OF THE SAME VEHICLE WHILE THE 2009 MODEL WENT THROUGH A SERIES OF TESTS. THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED IN THE 2010 MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER THEN ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,900.

ON 10/3/2015 THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION FOR 5 MINUTES. UPON RETURNING TO THE CAR AND ATTEMPED TO SWITCH THE IGNITION ON, THE CAR WONT START. CONTACTED MERCEDES BENZ IN ENGLEWOOD AND THEY OFFERED A ROAD ASSISTANCE ( $80 SERVICE CHARGE ). AFTER WAITING FOR OVER AN HOUR AND HALF THE ROADSIDE TECHNICIAN ARRIVED AND ATTEMPED TO JUMSTART THE VEHICLE WITH NO SUCCESS. HE SAID THAT WITH 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WORKING FOR MERCEDES THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WHERE THE VEHICLE WONT RECOGNIZE THE KEY, LOCKING THE STEERING AND CUTTING OFF THE ENGINE POWER TO START UP. HE CONTACTED MERCEDES FOR A TOWING TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THIS HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY AND HAVE TO WAIT TIL MONDAY FOR RESULTS. VEHICLE HAS 79,000 MILES ODOMETER READING. I drove my car to get lunch. Came back out to go back to work and the car would not start. Would not even turn over. My Radio did not turn on and I couldn't even roll my windows back up. Luckily they were only cracked open a small amount. My steering wheel cannot be turned, it's locked in it's current position. I am told the ESL (Electronic Steering Lock) and possibly the EIS is the cause of this problem. The display on the dash says "Take your key from ignition" and that is all I get. Had to have my car towed and now I have a dead car with the windows partially open that I cannot close.

SECOND WARNING REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL WIRING REGARDING THE FRONT HEAD LAMPS. THE WIRING IS BURNING UP AND IT WILL CAUSE A FIRE WITH DEADLY CONSEQUENCES. THIS CAR HAS HAD A RECALL BEFORE REGARDING THE WIRING OF THE BACK STOP LIGHTS, IF NOTHING IS DONE THERE WILL BE A FIRE. THE SEAT (FRONT) COVERING IS PEELING OFF, CO. SAYS ITS NORMAL. The entire rear subframe of any W205 body model including but not limited to the C class from 2009-2014, CL class, SL, class ETC. suffers admittedly from MB USA, premature rust, deterioration etc. there is an active recall for these same models in Canada and all of Europe but not the USA. My garage kept 2009 C300 has suffered extensive rear end damage from a factory defect that Mercedes refuses to recognize in the Continental U.S. but will admit the same issues occurred in the EU and Canada. Keeler Mercedes, USA, of Colonie New York, stated they completed my subframe repair under the MB rear subframe extended warranty. The vehicle was driven home and inspected only to find out Keeler Mercedes of NY did NOT replace this crucial safety component under MB-USA extended warranty issued for this defect. This is pure negligence. When asked why the subframe wasn’t replaced as the work order stated it did, they stated “a mix up in paper work” I believe Mercedes-Benz USA and Keeler Mercedes of New York conspired together to push this massive safety defect aside and lie about completing the work in fear of the payment from warranty not being worth the labor hours required by the technicians. This oversight COULD have been a multi million dollar lawsuit if any injury was sustained after said repairs were done in belief the vehicle was safe to drive. Keeler Mercedes’ has also had this vehicle in their possession from June 14th 2024, to todays date, July 5th 2024 with no word on when repairs to subframe will be completed. Subframe replacement stated on MB website states it is an 8 hour labor job. We’re on day 18 now. MAJOR safety issue and shady dealing by dealership

The contact stated that the coolant reservoir burst open. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the coolant and hose. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. Additionally, the indicator lights became inoperable. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V168000 (Exterior Lighting, Electronic Stability Control, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

Total shutdown of complete system…brakes, steering and engine at around 25-to 30 MPH. No warning. Happened two times…once before M-B service and once after service for problem. It checked out OK from dealership months before only to have it happen again. Was lucky to avoid a crash both times. Sold to dealership. Wrote my safety concerns for a new owner to local dealership and corporate.

The brake lines and subframe were completely rusted and the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Dealer confirmed at regular service appointment. I have documentation and competed all regular maintenance. Dealer would not cover costs for what appears to be a major defect. I had another shop replace the brake lines and subframe.

Authorized Mercedes Benz dealership in Ann Arbor, MI advised replacing tires, valve stems and other items. I dropped off the car at the dealership for the work. During Alignment they found right rear out of spec due to subframe rusted out. They said rear subframe replacement is needed. This is a very dangerous condition and Mercedes Benz does not cover rusted subframe replacement costs at all, neither do they advise routine checks for this problem which seems to be a very common issue for the C Class. In Europe and Canada, Mercedes replaces rusted subframes for free. Why is it not done for free in USA? This is a very serious issue and can cause serious and fatal accidents. The cost to replace rusted subframe is very high and car can break down while driving without any notice or warning. Additionally, there is no warning light or signal displayed to alert the driver of a potential problem. The car can have an accident without any warning light or alert.

I bought this car for my 18 year old son based on Mercedes reputation for safety and longevity, only to discover that Mercedes has a widely acknowledged issue with rotted sub-frames -- it's a serious safety issue and recalled in other countries. My son was was driving on the highway and the tire exploded. He was so close to being killed because the car went out of control. After getting it towed to my mechanic, he advised me that alignment adjusters were stuck, the subframe was rotted, the lower control arm subframe mounts were broken from the subframe and they were hitting the gas tank. Luckily, the tire only exploded as oppose to the entire vehicle bursting in flames. There were no warning lights or messages, only the feeling that the tires needed to be aligned. We bought new tires and were told an alignment was done from Town Fair Tires, which was untrue. My son's life was in immediate danger. Shame on Mercedes for not recalling this subframe. This is the first of many avenues I am taking to have this rectified and hopefully prevent a tragedy

Suspension Cross-Member - Mercedes-Benz (204-350-01-41) Driving regularly suddenly fill like the rear passenger side tire moved unevenly, then went to the tire shop, and when they take out the tire see how the rear frame was rusted and broken in a straight line exactly in the middle of the tire hole area. Then start to check used cars to donate that part and All of them have the same trouble in that piece, so I decided to review the frame and discover that the rust begins to damage the opposite side too, so I'm pretty sure is a component failure in metal and materials more than simple rust.

Glass sunroof While driving, heard a loud bang/pop, glass sunroof began to shatter, and fall onto me, creating a unsafe conditions. Pulled over immediately and closed plastic sunshade to prevent entire glass window from collapsing on top of me. Particles of glass and finite glass dust covered interior, and my person. Reported to local police dept, took photographs, and awaiting to contact dealership, insurance co as this occurred on a holiday weekend. No previous defects observed car is pristine. No roadway defects, or other environmental factors as causation.

SAFETY ISSUE REGARDING FAILURE OF REAR SUBFRAME. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2009 C300 4MATIC SPORT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT ITS ENTIRE LIFE AND IS NOT IN A HIGH SALT OR SNOW ENVIRONMENT. MY WIFE WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT IN THIS CAR DUE TO THE REAR SUBFRAME RUSTING THROUGH AND SEPARATING. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND PAID A PREMIUM FOR MERCEDES QUALITY BECAUSE WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE SAFEST VEHICLE MADE. HI, ON MY COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK, I WAS GETTING READY TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY BY DECELERATING. MY CAR SWERVED AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL WHEN I BEGAN TO PRESS THE BRAKES. THERE WERE NO CARS AT 7AM ON THE WEEKEND, SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE 1/4 MILE EXIT RAMP. I CONTINUE HOME, BUT FEEL THE CAR KICKING OUT THE REAR END WHEN I BRAKE. I EXPERIENCED THE INFAMOUS STEERING LOCK PROBLEM 5 DAYS AGO IN MY (NOW FORMER) 2009 MERCEDES C300. PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING MY CAR SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. I'VE ALWAYS HAD ALL OF THE RECOMMENDED SERVICES PERFORMED ON TIME BY THE DEALER. THEN LAST SATURDAY I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS AND AFTER MY THIRD STOP MY CAR WOULDN'T START. I ASSUMED IT WAS THE BATTERY (EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BEEN REPLACED LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO) AND I CALLED MERCEDES ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE ROADSIDE TECHNICIAN TESTED THE BATTERY AND SAID IT WAS FINE AND HE IMMEDIATELY SUSPECTED IT WAS THE STEERING LOCK PROBLEM. AFTER A BIT MORE TESTING HE CONFIRMED IT WAS AND HE SAID THE CAR WOULD NEED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER ON A FLATBED. IT WAS SATURDAY AND THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSING BUT I GOT THERE JUST IN TIME TO GET A LOANER CAR. ONCE I GOT HOME I STARTED DOING INTERNET RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM AND I FOUND THIS WEBSITE. I DECIDED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER ON SUNDAY WHEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED AND ASK IF I COULD TRADE IN THE CAR. I PRINTED OUT ALL OF THE REPORTS ON THIS SITE AND TOOK THEM WITH ME. THE SALESPEOPLE CLAIMED THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT IT. I WAITING UNTIL YESTERDAY WHEN I HAD THE REPAIR QUOTE BEFORE I TRADED IT IN. THE COST WOULD HAVE BEEN $1,800 BUT THEY SAID I COULD USE A 15% OFF SERVICE COUPON. I ALSO TRIED TO SHOW THE REPORTS FROM THIS SITE TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR BUT HE WASN'T INTERESTED IN SEEING THEM EITHER. I DECIDED I REALLY NEEDED A CAR THAT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO I TRADED IT IN LAST NIGHT. THEY SUBTRACTED $1,500 OFF THE TRADE IN VALUE FOR THIS REPAIR. FIRST DAY WHEN RECEIVING MY KEYS FOR A BRAND NEW MERCEDES C350 2009 AT THE DEALERSHIP...ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON. LATER FINDING OUT IT WAS THE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A MONTH LATER OF GETTING A BRAND NEW CAR CORROSION WAS FOUND IN THE TAILLIGHTS. THEN FINDING OUT CORROSION ON THE BRAKE PADS. MONTHS AFTER THIS THE POWER TRAIN WAS SLIPPING UP... THE RPMS OF THE CAR WOULD SURGE UP HIGH AND REMAIN STUCK AT HIGH RPMS. IF I ACCELERATED THE GAS IT WOULD SHOOT UP HIGHER TO HIGHER RPMS AND THE CAR WOULD MAKE THE NOISE BUT IT WOULDN'T MOVE. I THOUGHT IF I LET GO OF THE GAS THINKING THE RPMS WOULD RETURN BACK DOWN... BUT IT WOULDN'T...HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND HAVE NO CONTROL TO DRIVE YOUR CAR. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER SOME HOW AND TURN OFF THE CAR FOR THE RPMS TO COME BACK DOWN SO I CAN DRIVE IT AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY COULD NEVER DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEREFORE, NOTHING GOT FIXED OR REPLACED JUST CONSTANT SOFTWARE UPDATES WERE STATED WERE DONE. SOON AFTER TAKING MY CAR OVER 5+ TIMES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, MY SRS STEERING MALFUNCTIONED. I GOT THAT REPLACED AND PAID FOR IT A YEAR AGO. NOW BACK TODAY EXACTLY 12 MONTHS LATER REPAIRING IT AGAIN - SRS MALFUNCTION...AGAIN STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK ALL ALONE. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRING MY CAR FOR SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS, GETTING STRANDED, TOWING MY CAR, PAYING FOR ALL REPAIRS AND GIVING UP WEEKENDS AND WORK TIME TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE HEARD A POPPING NOISE. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER TAILLIGHT BULB FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER'S FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.

AT 5:00PM, I WAS DRIVING THE MERCEDES BENZ C300, YEAR 2009, 9010 MILES IN THE PARKING LOT OF YMCA IN LA CANADA, CA AT 3 MILES/HR. I PREPARED TO STOP THE CAR AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE REV UP AND ACCELERATED. THE CAR JUMPED OVER THE STOP BUMPER BUT I PRESSED VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE AND FINALLY THE CAR STOPPED AND THE ENGINE WAS OFF. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS ABOUT 2 FEET FROM THE WALL AT THE PARKING LOT. I WAS SO SCARED BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I WENT TO THE GYM AND AT 6:30PM I DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME, IT IS ABOUT 6 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. I REALLY FEEL UNSAFE WITH MY ALMOST BRAND NEW MB. I'LL TAKE OFF FOR WORK NEXT MONDAY AND WILL TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR CHECKING. I WAS LUCKY THIS TIME WITH NO DAMAGE OR INJURY BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOWLY IN THE PARKING LOT AND READY TO STOP. I WAS DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY AT ~40 MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN BY STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR DID NOT SLOW DOWN BUT ACCELERATED. AND STRUCK THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. EVERY TIME I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR ACCELERATED SO THAT THE CAR STRUCK THE CAR IN FRONT TWICE. I TRIED TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND WAS UNABLE TO. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING SEVERAL COMPUTER DEFECTS. WHILE PARKED ON A HILL AND ATTEMPTING TO PLACE THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO REVERSE, THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL FORWARD INSTEAD OF BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL FORWARD APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. DURING THIS TIME, THE STEERING WOULD LOCK AND THE BRAKES WOULD LOSE POWER. IT WOULD TAKE TREMENDOUS FORCE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 7,000.

I WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHERE I WAS RUN OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A CENTER MEDIAN STEEL BARRIER. MY MERCEDES C300 IS EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP) AND ACTIVE SEATBELT RESTRAINTS (BOTH OF WHICH FAILED IN THE CRASH). THE ROADS WERE SLICK, HOWEVER, WHEN A CAR SWERVED OVER ON ME AND I ATTEMPTED TO HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID BEING HIT, MY CAR BEGAN TO FISH-TAIL AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AT THE TIME, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING (POST-CRASH) THAT MY ESP MALFUNCTIONED. IN ADDITION, UPON IMPACT, MY SEAT RESTRAINED ME, HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR BOUNCED BACK INTO THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, THE SEATBELT CAME COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM WHERE IT'S HOLDER (WHERE YOU CLICK IT IN). THE REST OF THE SAFETY FEATURES WORKED (AIRBAGS, ACTIVE HEAD-REST RESTRAINTS, STEEL FRAMING, ETC.) HOWEVER, IF THE ESP FAILED OR MALFUNCTION, THEN THERE WAS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO PREVENT THE ACCIDENT BASED ON THE VEHICLES FAILURE TO DELIVER IN A PANICKED SITUATION. THE MERCEDES ESP PROGRAM IS SUPPOSE TO ENABLE THE DRIVER THE ABILITY TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE FROM OVERSTEER (FISH-TAILING) IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS, AND IT DID NOT DO SO. AT THE TIME, I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH. THE BRAKE-ASSIST PROGRAM HELPED TO DECELERATE THE VEHICLE MINIMALLY, AND I SLAMMED INTO THE GUARDRAIL AROUND 50-55 MPH. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE ESP AND SEATBELT FAILED IN THIS CRASH. I'M VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SURVIVED THIS ACCIDENT. TOOK PICTURES FOR EVIDENCE, AND PLAN TO GO BACK TO THE CAR UPON REVIEW BY THE MERCEDES ACCIDENT SPECIALIST TO ACCESS WHY THERE WAS AN EVIDENT FAILURE IN BOTH OF THESE SAFETY FEATURES (CRITICAL TO PREVENTING SUCH AN ACCIDENT)! *TR

I PURCHASED A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ C300 LUXURY SEDAN IN OCTOBER 2008 IN ATLANTA, GA. I DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT WITH 37 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HOUSE THE CAR IN MY GARAGE. I'D HAD THE CAR IN MY POSSESSION FOR A LITTLE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS WHEN I WOKE ONE CHILLY MORNING TO DISCOVER A CRACK IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR. I IMMEDIATELY PHONED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR EVALUATION. SERVICE ASSESSED THE DAMAGE AND ADVISED ME THAT THEY'D RECENTLY (THE DAY BEFORE) BECOME AWARE THAT THE HEATING ELEMENTS WERE CRACKING THE MIRRORS IN THE C CLASS MODELS. THEY THEN APOLOGIZED FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, GAVE ME A LOANER CAR (FREE OF CHARGE) WHILE MY CAR WAS BEING REPAIRED (FREE OF CHARGE), AND ADVISED ME THAT, ALTHOUGH MERCEDES BENZ DOES NOT ALLOW PREEMPTIVE REPAIRS, THEY WOULD REPAIR THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR (FREE OF CHARGE) SHOULD IT CRACK IN THE FUTURE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE WOULD BE FIXED EVEN IF THE WARRANTY HAD OTHERWISE EXPIRED. THE PART REPAIRED WAS THE AUTO DEFROSTING/ DIMMING DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR.
