The vehicle was taken to a local dealer for the recall repair; however, the vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting parts for the repair. The manufacturer was contacted and was unable to confirm when the parts would become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

On 8/3/2023 we could smell a strong gasoline smell inside and outside our 2011 Mercedes C300. We towed the car to a Mercedes specialty repair shop for inspection. The found that the passenger side fuel pump cover (which is a large cylinder assembly actually) was leaking due to cracked plastic. Gas vapors could be detected outside the car, in the trunk, and in the car as the gas tank is right under the back seat. Our mechanic said he had just fixed another Mercedes with the exact same problem. Apparently this is a well known defect and I understand that Mercedes has an extended warranty for later models. We believe the extended warranty should be extended to our 2011 C300 which has only 55,000 miles.

Each time I filled my gas tank, there was an overpowering odor of gasoline inside the car and outside on the passenger side. Once the tank would get down below 3/4 of a tank, the odor would dissipate until down to a 1/4 of a tank it would go away completely.

I suspect a failure in the fuel tank / system seal, which is allowing gas fumes into the cabin. There is a strong smell of gasoline inside the cabin especially after a full tank refill. This issue was also a problem for my 2008 Mercedes Benz E350. It has not been inspected but since my E350 had a similar extended warranty repair, I assume this would be similar. The strong fumes and odor in the cabin is a health risk of breathing the fumes or explosion. There are no warning lamp to indicate this failure. No recalls or extended warranty currently to fix this problem.

My check engine light came on approximately one month ago. Once tested it indicated a fuel vapor leak. I pulled out of a driveway and a large stream of fuel spilled all over the roadway. Approximately 7 feet in length about 5 inches in width was on the road. I took it to a Mercedes repair shop and they informed me I had a fuel leak and that it was not safe to drive. There was corrosion and rust forming on the tank which seems very odd since the car is garage kept and we don't get much snow in Kentucky. My daughter rides in this car with me and they told me it is very dangerous and needs repaired. If I was to drive over a cigarette we could essentially blow up. I had a second shop look at it and they also informed me I had a fuel leak and would need to replace the fuel tank. I was told there was a recall on some models of Mercedes for this issue but can't seem to find one on my year make and model. Please help with this matter so my daughter and I can remain safe as well as others around us. Seems like we are in a ticking time bomb.

When fuel tank is greater than approximately 3/4 full there is a strong fuel odor that seems to emanate from the rear passenger side of the vehicle; at lesser fuel quantities the odor is not noticeable. On one occasion I detected what appeared to be fuel dripping from underneath the vehicle. Took vehicle to dealership for troubleshooting and was informed "fuel leaks at the fuel pump" and it was recommended that the fuel pump and fuel sender be replaced. Additionally, the leak apparently damaged the electrical wiring harness to the fuel pump and that also needs to be repaired. There were no warning lamps or messages displayed that alerted me to this problem. Obviously, this is a hazard to safety.

Rear tires were down to steel belt after replacing August 1, 2022 and less than 10,000 mile wear. I took the car to a dealership for diagnosis. The rear subframe is completely corroded and failed causing extreme wear on tires and a DANGEROUS DRIVING SCENARIO. I’ve researched and see this is a common problem on these Mercedes cars. Why is there no Mercedes recall or accountability for this common issue?This is a serious issue that could cause serious accidents and bodily harm or death..

I was teaching my 16 year old son how to drive when he got his learners permit . When we got onto the highway a car cut him off and he had to apply a firm steady brake . When breaking the car swerved from the rear into the other lane , nearly striking another vehicle . This also resulted in a loss of control when applying heavy breaking after I had him pull over and I took control of the vehicle once I was able to get the car to the shop I pulled the rear wheel s off and inspected the brakes , which were found to be in good condition . I looked around the vehicle and noticed where the rear driver side subframe connected to the control arm broke off from a manufacturer defective weld or poor selection of materials . component. Upon inspection both sides are perforated and have lost structural integrity. Many other vehicles of the model type have reported similar issues online. This is a serious safety concern that will happen to 100% of these vehicles. A recall needs to be issued by Mercedes for this immediately. This vehicle has very little rust anywhere except at these connections .

Tried to get alignment and was told rear sub frame is rotted. Must be replaced. Car is garaged. Serviced at dealer. This shouldnt be happening. Car was involved in accident (mainly passenger doors damaged) which triggered us to need to get new tire which alerted us to alignment cant be completed and told to not drive car it's not safe due to rotted subframe.

I was driving my 2011 MB C300 40 MPH on a straight suburban road when the light turned red. I applied the brakes and heard a clunk from the rear. Surprisingly, the car swerved with a right turn yaw moment. Normally I enjoy driving my car, but that never happened before. So I tried it again in the next block and it yawed again. That’s not right. My mechanic happened to be just down the road so I pulled in. He told me that the rear subframe had rusted out and the car was unsafe to drive. Furthermore, he would not attempt welding it because the metal is too far gone. A new replacement part is unavailable from the dealership and back ordered from Germany for months. Used part will also be rusty. My car with 77k miles on it is suddenly worthless. Mercedes-Benz “The Best and then Nothing”

Interior door handle becomes inoperative due to breaking of some internal element. This prevents leaving the vehicle. Of concern is that in case of emergency, the occupant cannot exit the vehicle. If power is affected, the windows cannot be lowered which is the only way to exit using the exterior door handle. This is a well known defect of this series of Mercedes Benz to which the manufacturer has not accepted responsibility.

So i was using my car daily for go to work and I was on the highway and they happened a accident in front of me so I have to slow down due to the accident i was going 70 miles per hour and when made a hard break my car turn sideways due to the rear subframe was broke and I dint even notice that the part was rotten they i start looking online and I noticed that the majority of those car come with that factory issue.

Good morning. I previously reported incident [XXX] about a subframe issue w/ my 2011 Mercedes Benz C-300. This morning I received a warranty extension from the originally expired 4 years/50,000 mile to 20 years/unlimited miles. The notice says that repairs must be performed by an authorized Mercedes Benz dealership. I had the auto fixed privately and filed the NHTSA request. I called their CS and was told that I would need to visit a dealership, but to be honest I think that would be fruitless. Can MB be compelled to reimburse me for the cost incurred? Took my 2011 C300 4matic to a local mechanic after I noticed a dramatic pulling sensation to the left after braking. After mechanic's inspection, I was informed that the rear subframe was rotted out and that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. I still have the car available for inspection of the rear subframe. The rear subframe caused the pull to the side under braking, which alone could cause an accident. Since it also connects the suspension to the frame of the car, at any point a critical suspension component could break off from the subframe, likely causing total loss of control of the car and potentially an accident. I also took the car to a Mercedes-Benz dealership where they confirmed that the rear subframe would need to be replaced and that the car was not safe to drive. I contacted Mercedes-Benz corporate, but received no support. I was only informed that they are aware of this issue, but they will not assist in any way since there is no recall issued. I provided them with copies of the quote from the dealership.

I researched that the sunroofs on these models are faulty and have caused water/electrical damage under the carpeting and seats of the vehicles. That is what has happened with my 2011 C300 Sport.

The contact owns a 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle, the ignition was not reading the key, and the steering wheel was locked. The message to remove the key from the ignition was displayed. Additionally, the fuel gauge was inoperable and not reading the fuel level. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a locked steering wheel and the steering wheel lock needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Due to apparently deficient sunroof water drain system design, rainwater and condensation entered the passenger compartment under the carpeting, potentially damaging the vehicle's electrical wiring. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. A dealer has inspected and confirmed the damage. Initial symptoms of the problem were wet carpeting and the sound of water sloshing around under the floor of the passenger compartment.

ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2020 MY VEHICLE WAS NOT STARTING IN ORDER TO TAKE ME HOME AT 9:40 PM. DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE ESL IN THE STEERING COLUMN I AM NOW FORCED TO WAIT HERE UNTIL A TOW TRUCK COMES. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS LOCATION AND WISH MY VEHICLE WOULD START KNOWING THAT IT HAS THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE AT THE BATTERY.

The driver’s side door handle broke and I was unable to leave the car unless it was unlocked and rolled the window down to open it from the outside through the window. If there was a loss of power and you pulled on the latch and it broke you would be delayed in exiting. There are multiple videos on after market parts to repair the plastic pin that breaks. Tesla seems to be recalling their vehicles for a similar problem recently, why not Mercedes for a known problem????

the rear subframe on my car rotted out. Before they called a recall/extended warranty,I paid to have it fixed. Since it is a 2011, I was not about to pay $7,000-$9,000 to get a new one. I made the best decision with the information I had at the time. It broke in June of 2022. I had the car fixed with a used subframe from Atlantic Auto. Once I realized there was FINALLY a recall/Extended warranty, I submitted All necessary paperwork and have been denied. I wrote to Mercedes Benz Corporate office. They contacted the Warwick store. Went back and forth All summer and they have refused to reimburse me the &2,299. that I spent to fix the car. It says the decision is made on a case by case review. They have denied my claim. I have all the correspondence between myself and Mercedes Benz.

Over the weekend my vehicle driver side interior door handle became inoperable not allowing me to open my door from the inside. The handle flaps back & forth with no connect to the inside of door panel not making be able to get out of my vehicle. I was stuck & had to climb over to passenger side to get out. It only opens from outside . It has been functioning well for the life of me owning the vehicle, never giving me any problem until now, suddenly with no warning that it was breaking. My Mercedes dealer said I need a whole door panel & they have had several calls from other C300 owners where this handle broke also recently. So they are aware & admitted so. This is a recall or factory defect in my eyes. Also I looked online & this is very common because of a plastic not metal part Mercedes uses . Is this not unsafe enough to be recalled? It’s a no brainer! Not bein able to exit your vehicle at all. I was so scared and shocked a car of this class has this safety issue and they do not do a thing to their owners to fix it, its on owner and their pockets. This should be taken care of immediately for free. Are they waiting for someone to have an accident and lose their life to act on replacing this problem?! Again I feel this is a major safety recall that needs to be addressed ASAP. Safety, peace of mind, accessibility to exit/enter your vehicle. If no one can help you from the outside, you have to climb out from passenger side or thru the back of the vehicle. You can open your window too, but what if that jams electrically ….you are stuck. $900 plus labor should not be on me but should be in Mercedes hands to value my life & others lives more than any price as a standard part of their fleet of cars they have driving across USA. High end luxury car w/a faulty door handle that leaves you unable to get out, unbelievable ! Has safety hazard written all over it. I have a video & submitted a pic of my issue. This is my second MB I owned and I never had this danger occur.

The control arm is currently freely hanging. The reverse subframe rusted out where the control arm connects to it causing severe swaying when braking.

We had notifications on our dashboard that rear driver side (left) lights were out while driving car. We thought the light bulbs just had to be replaced. We brought to mechanic to just fix lights & they discovered the light ground wire burned out & caused light holder to be damaged as well where ground wire was. It caused rear driver side tail lights to fail. We had light bulb holder with wires all replaced on 2/23/24. This issue was a recall back in 2014 & seems to be a reoccurring issue with this part of the Mercedez 2011 C class.

The driver side rear tail light wiring melted the tailight housing. This component was already replaced as part of a previous recall, but apparently Mercedes is not properly fixing the issue. They refuse to fix it for free, because they already "addressed" the recall. Looks like they are putting cars back on the street that could catch fire.

The subframe has rusted/fallen off. This is incredibly risky as the car cannot be driven safely and it happened without warning. My mechanic said it is not due to any driving incidents but through rust occurring on Mercedes' subframes, which are flimsy. It has been inspected professionally by a mechanic. There are NO warning lamps. This could kill someone on the highway as while braking the car veered left and right. I had small children in the car we all neck pain from the car veering while stopping on the highway. I have taken good care of my vehicle and have all maintenance current. This is a fault with the material on the subframe. For MB: All the subframes are on backorder and are incredibly expensive to fix. I have a video of the damage from the mechanic if needed.

Like apparently the majority of this model year C300, the rear subframe is completely disintegrated. This is a known issue but Mercedes has not communicated it nor fixed it. I was told, and as the photos clearly indicate, this very likely could have resulted in a catastrophic or fatal accident as the entire rear is corroded. I have photo and video support as well as the inspection from a mechanic.

My vehicle has been making very odd noises, the steering wheel keeps looking off center and the car is kicking/fishtailing at times without warning. Our mechanic has looked at the car SEVERAL times and finally discovered that the sub frame is completely rusted out and broken. We were told not to drive the vehicle anymore as it is extremely dangerous. After researching about this issue, we found that a class action lawsuit was filed in February 2023 for corrosion/rusting out of frames in 2010-2022 Mercedes Benz models. According to the information, Mercedes is refusing to cover the cost of the repairs and is not returning calls from customers effected by this issue. This information has been reported and added to the class action lawsuit. It was recommended that we report it here as well.

My 2011 c300 has a rotted rear subframe making the car not able to be driven. It has major ,life threatening, costly damage and this issue already has a recall all over the world but not in the United States.

The contact owns a 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, and the rear end of the vehicle pushed out. The contact looked underneath the vehicle and noticed that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the control arm had detached. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. I haven't had an issue with this yet but have heard others having this issue. Mercedes Benz fitted cheap plastic Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) in these models that are prone to failure. Unexpectedly, this device will fail and will lock out the steering which can happen anytime and can cause a serious accident. The car will have malfunctioning steering when this device fails and should have a recall.

2008-2011 Mercedes models were manufactured with cheap electronic steering locks that fail often. While I haven’t experienced a failure while driving, the system is and has been extremely problematic and unreliable. It is highly plausible that the system could fail while driving due to the cheap components and unreliable and faulty programming. I urge the NHTSA to look into this and require Mercedes to replace these ESL’s with a safer, more reliable steering component that doesn’t have the potential to suddenly lock or unlock due to a unforeseen failure.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

For the 2011 Mercedes Benz C300, the following is a general description of the issue: The component that failed is the "internally faulty" electronic steering column lock control unit which doesn't allow the car to start its ignition. The technician at the Mercedes Benz car dealership noted on the invoice "found the electronic steering lock is internally faulty." Technician provided two specific codes and recommended to replace the steering lock control unit. Yes, this car is available for inspection upon request. Car is not reliable. After running errands, car did not start. I was stranded and could not get back home. Car had to be towed to the Mercedes Benz dealer service center. Yes, problem was reproduced in another Mercedes-Benz C300 car that I own. This other vehicle is a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300. The failure of the "internally faulty steering lock control unit resulting in a no crank/no start condition" was confirmed on the invoice from the Mercedes Benz dealer service center. The car was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. The car was inspected by the Mercedes Benz dealer service center. Prior to complete failure, car would occasionally not start. This issue first appeared on or around August 2024. This steering lock failure is a critical issue as I had the same problem with another Mercedes Benz C300 that I own. Both steering lock failures for both cars occurred around the same time period and were separately diagnosed and fixed at different Mercedes Benz dealer service centers.

I own a 2011 C300. Recently, my car suddenly stopped working while I was attempting to leave somewhere away from my home. It would not crank or turn over/start. So I was completely stranded, and in the extreme Florida heat. There has been no damage or wreck to cause this. There were also no warning lights or symptoms in my car beforehand. My car was towed to a Mercedes Benz dealership in the nearest city. They diagnosed the problem as an electronic steering lock failure. I asked how this happened. I was told that they do not know how it happened. I was also quoted a very expensive repair bill. Upon researching this problem further, I found out that steering lock failure and ignition switch failure is a recurring and common problem that Mercedes Benz already knows about, and many people with my car and similar models have had the same problem over the years. Age of the car at time of failure did not matter, either- it has happened to many cars at different ages and mileage.This is not a normal problem for any car to have, nor is it caused by normal wear and tear. Some people have even had their cars suddenly stop working while they are driving. Many people have also asked why these faulty parts have not been recalled yet. I contacted the company multiple times and did not receive any resolution to the problem. They said that this is my responsibility to repair, and they would not pay to repair this, nor reimburse me. The company's agent did not care at all about the issues, nor take any accountability for them as the manufacturer. Being stranded in the middle of nowhere at any time is dangerous for anyone, especially in certain areas or during intense weather. This entire issue has caused extreme stress for me- interruption in my schedule, lack of transportation, and financial loss. Please hold the Mercedes Benz company accountable for their lack of proper manufacturing and lack of proper repair to their parts that they know are faulty. Thank you.

I just purchased a 2011 Mercedes C300. I was told that for the past 2-3 years the vehicle would constantly bald out the rear 2 tires and would need replaced every 3 months. As I was driving the vehicle I noticed that the rear tires would make weird noises as if it was hutting something. Upon further investigation the rear sub frame is rotted, which based on research appears to be a very common problem with these vehicles. The rear sub frame is rotted in which caused the lower control arms to completely rot off of the frame posing as a serious safety issue for me when driving with my children and a safety issues for others when I drive on the road. On top of that due to the lower control arms completely rotting off the frame it caused the control arms to hit the gas tank which could catch the car on fire. Mercedes has refused to issue this as a recall in due part to their negligence. Customers cannot afford to pay $5000 for a rotted subframe due to negligence from Mercedes. Please research how many vehicles have had rotted subframes for this vehicle. In Germany they will repair the rotted subframe free of charge. Mercedes needs to be held accountable for risking peoples lives.

Recently I was driving and heard a knocking/creaking noise in the left rear. When braking I felt as though I was going to lose control of the vehicle...vehicle appeared to fishtail and pull to the left. I first noticed it on [XXX] when I was driving on the highway in excess of 60 MPH. On [XXX] I brought it to my mechanic (Genesee Auto Repair, 40 Liberty Street, Salem, NH (603)898-1899) and my mechanic informed me that the left rear subframe had rotted out and told me that I should not be driving the car. I have a 2011 Mercedes C300 that I purchased as a Certified Vehicle - this car was purchased at The Mercedes Dealer in Kansas City. I believe I purchased it around 2013 - I have recently found out that the rear sub frame is completely rusted out. I have had the car repaired at my auto shop - Not a MB dealership, as there was not a dealership that was able to see the car in any reasonable amount of time and the car was not safe to drive. The only way I found out about this rusted out subframe was due to the control arm breaking off - This car was very dangerous to drive and in essence, it is probably a good thing that the control arm broke as this could have resulted in a loss of steering on the vehicle and a very dangerous accident! I have been reading online and speaking with MULTIPLE people who have had the same situation with this rear subframe. This is CLEARLY an issue with MB and clearly an issue that they have been made aware of. When I called the NMB service department they were a month out to just look at the car - and the part is on back order I was told - which CLEARLY indicates a lot of these rear sub frames are being replaced. I am attaching various articles / forums online that I just, at a glance, composed a list of. There are a TON of stories of these sub frames rusting out for various models. Seems to be tied mostly to the C300 vehicles. I am attaching pictures of this rusted out subframe and an invoice that I paid to have the car repaired for this issue. The ironic thing is when I was at this auto shop, there was another C300 sitting out front that had just had the same rusted out subframe replaced. Mercedes has a recall in Canada for this SAME issue and other countries have acknowledged this is a major safety issue. A rear subframe should not rust out and leave the driver with no way to steer the car. Mercedes has refused to acknowledge this is an issue in the US.

I have a 2011 C300 Sport that I purchased end of the lease (3yr.). The car was never driven in the winter for 4 seasons and most recently just the last 3 winters. Complete frame rot on the rear driver's side. Rot was noticed by my mechanic at the last oil change. He said he is replacing three rear frames for customers as soon as he can get parts. Parts are limited and only in Germany. I want it repaired with genuine parts. If the frame separates while the vehicle is at highway speeds, operator control can be compromised. The brake line which attaches to the frame has ruptured in many cases from what I have read. I called MB customer service and there is no recall at this time. I called the local dealer and they have been replacing quite a few frames with the same issue. This is a dangerous failure and if I remeber correctly about 8-10 years ago Toyota recalled trucks and SUVs for frame replacement.

The rear suspension subframe rotted. The car has 140,000 miles and is kept in a garage. There was no warning regarding the damage. I nearly lost control of my car on a highway, it was I reported this to Mercedes to see if there was a recall. There was no recall on the part, Mercedes did not take responsibility for repairs. I paid to have the car repaired. There were no warning lamps that alerted me to the problem. The car was towed to a Mercedes dealer and I opened a claim with Mercedes.

Car was Off and parked when brake line failed. Further inspection was able to identify that brake pipes was slowly corroded thought entire lower part of the brake system causing critical failure of brakes. Extreme safety issue due to the material of metal/coating and position of brake pipping. If operator was not observant, operator/driver would not have any braking and could cause harm.

Rear brake line rusted through land leaked all the break fluid rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive due to the complete failure of the breaking system. The location of the break line corrosion is above the rear differential and next to a retainer clip.

The brake lines have corroded in multiple places causing brake fluid to leak, potentially creating a safety risk had the problem not been immediately observed and corrected. An independent service center confirmed the problem and replaced all the brake lines and hoses. There were no warning lamps or signals. A puddle of brake fluid under the car was the first indication of a problem.

AFTER ONLY HAVING IT LESS THAN 24 HOURS, THE CUSTOMER CALLED STATING THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. SAID WENT TO START THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND CAR WOULD NOT START. THE LIGHTS & RADIO TURNED ON BUT IT HAD A MESSAGE ON DASH TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. WE HAD TO CALL A TOW COMPANY TO TOW IT TO THE MECHANIC AND PUT THEM IN A LOANER CAR. LATER THAT DAY I STARTED DOING SOME RESEARCH AND REALIZED MANY MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE AND IT IS COSTING THEM $1600-$1800 TO HAVE THE ESL & EIS REPLACED. I was in a collision and the airbags did not deploy. There was a recall on airbags for the Mercedes C300 within the year my vehicle was made, however, the recall did not include my VIN. Also, the sunroof drain is faulty, which was also recalled on other Mercedes C300s within the same production year, again not my VIN, but upon inspection by a certified dealership, it appears to be the same issue as other recalled vehicles.

While I was driving, my seat back suddenly started reclining backward. I could not make the seat stop or go forward with pushing the power seat button control. It kept reclining back, pushing into the back seat and would not stop until there was no power left. Had my child been in the seat behind me, instead of behind the passenger seat, her legs would have been crushed. I took it to a vehicle repair shop and they were able to manually put the seat back to an upright position. I have not let my child ride in the back seat after that incident yet. I just dropped the car off to the Mercedes service department near me.

Went to work and came out and the vehicle says to remove key from ignition. Was stuck in the middle of the night in freezing temperatures and had no way to get anywhere. It’s a common problem that Mercedes knows about and is charging thousands of dollars to repair because it can only be done through them.

I drove vehicle to Publix with no problems. When i tried to start vehicle, key turns but car does not start. There is no cranking sound. I called a mechanic friend and after extensive diagnosis he determined it was the ESL Module which controls the steering. Fortunately i was not driving the vehicle when the ESL Module failed. There is a recall on Mercedes Benz c300 from 2012-2017 for the ESL Module problems but the 2011 is not included. It should be recalled since it is a safety hazard and it appears others have had similar problems according to comments on Google. I have a handicapped wife i take care of and having issues with the steering can cause accidents and injuries. There were no messages or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. There needs to be a recall or further inspection done on the 2011 Mercedes Benz c300. Car will be towed to a Mercedes Benz dealership for Diagnostics.

1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The fuel system failure is a highly critical safety concern, and my life is at risk. It causes malfunctions with the vehicle, for example, the OBD-based emissions test has flagged a lot of (codes P219A, P0300, P0304, P0410, P0305, P0303, P0171, P0301) 5 of the cylinder misfire codes with the check engine light on, as well affecting other parts in the vehicle function properly, acceleration issues, car stalling as though it’s going to shut off. This is a serious matter and Mercedes-Benz is failing to prioritize customer safety, over cost especially when known faults in the vehicle can lead to potentially life-threatening incidents such as fuel leaks and fire hazards. Yes, the vehicle is available for further inspection upon request immediately each day my life is at risk. 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and other's safety are put at risk every time I get out on the road to drive my car it's putting me and other' live in serious danger (especially with the extreme increase in car accidents in the local Nashville, TN area). Despite the vehicle now being 3,000 miles over the 150,000-mile extended warranty threshold. I recently purchased the car on [XXX] and was not made aware of Mercedes Benz having any extended warranty coverage for the faulty fuel system that Mercedes-Benz had placed on this model. I can only assume the previous owner the car was reposed from was also unaware of this as well. I believe Mercedes-Benz should still cover the cost of this repair. The fuel system failure is a critical safety concern, and Mercedes-Benz should prioritize customer safety, especially knowing there were faults of poor quality that they discovered with their vehicles and can lead to potentially life-threatening incidents such as fuel leaks and fire hazards. The contact owns a 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the brakes were not functioning properly. The contact had to pump the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The cruise control, ABS, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was diagnosed with a failure with the electronic stabilizing program control unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 84,000.

The sam box (electrical system fuze panel) located under the hood is in a spot where if the lid isn't on correctly water will drain from the windshield right into the sam box and cause the vehicles electrical system to deploy the steering wheel airbag. That's at least what happened to me. It was raining out that day and I guess I went over a bump that caused the lid of the sam to get out of place. I drove home and the car seat for a few hours. I went out upon unlocking the door as soon as I pulled the handle to open the driver side door the steering wheel airbag blew and the vehicle is now in srs mode. The dealership had told me that it's a design flaw but wants me to pay for the diagnostic. No lights were on and I did not file a police report.

2011 C300 4matic Sport I'm very concerned about the front subframe after going over the invoice and everything that was replaced on the rear subframe due to a recall Mercedes issued. But wait doesn't the whole subframe have severe rust corrosion all throughout yes it does per mechanic/technician. I'm having steering issues while driving the vehicle when applying the breaks the vehicle pulls very hard to the left the whole car swerves to the left very dangerously. After getting it checked out the mechanic/ technician pointed out that the control arm snapped from the Front subframe due to severe corrosion. I'm not understanding how the recall was only for the rear subframe only. The whole entire subframe is severely rusted. Front subframe which may experience premature wear of the front axel carrier and a fracture risk, potentially resulting in sudden loss of steering control. After internal endurance testing determined the front axle carrier supplied for certain Mercedes SUV’s and cars may weaken prematurely. An investigation revealed the root cause of the problem was due to a manufacturing defect in which the parts did not receive proper corrosion protection. My front subframe did not receive the proper corrosion protection. It's available for inspection. It's currently still at the dealership due to being unsafe to drive. I'm having steering issues while driving the vehicle when applying the breaks the vehicle pulls very hard to the left the whole car swerves to the left very dangerously. The problem has been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle or component has Not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives. Only Dealer and independent service center did the inspection. No warning indicators no other symptoms, this issue took place around February - March of 2023. When I received the letter about the subframe recall I was excited thinking the issue would be fixed. But No it's unsafe

There is a crack in the flange causing a fuel leak in my C300 2011 Mercedes-Benz built March 2011. A strong gas smell fills the car. This situation is extremely dangerous and should be included in the recall that was approved for vehicles C300 manufactured from April 2011-July 2011. Please include my vehicle in this recall. There is only a one month difference.

The contact owns a 2011 Mercedes C300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH the check engine began flashing and the vehicle stalled. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle and smoke was observed emanating from the front driver's tire. The contact stated that the fire exploded from the engine compartment. Additionally, the contact stated that she was locked in the vehicle by the driver's seatbelt, but was able to get out of the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire and a report was taken. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to a salvage lot. The contact was not sure if the vehicle restarted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The contact then stated that he noticed that water had leaked from the sunroof and entered the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness was severely damaged and could not be repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was 82,242.

Electronic steering locks are failing in these cars at an alarming rate. When it fails, the car will be stranded or if driving the car will completely lock the steering and take away control from the driver. This is a safety issue that Mercedes should be recalling and fixing because it will take people's lives away. Mercedes is aware of this issue but is failing to recall it and considering it as non-safety. When manufacturing the Electronic Steering lock, Mercedes used cheap parts that are prone to failure. This issue affected many years and models of their cars but only recalled a few cars. Once failure occurs, the car will not start and it will be required to tow it to a dealership where repairs over $2000 will be needed to fix this SAFETY issue.

The subframe and the brake lines are very faulty in this car when it comes to its design. The subframe and brake lines rust easily and are cheaply made for this car. My car break down while driving making it hard to have pressure on the brakes. My incident was around the school area. There were no accidents or collisions Involved. It could happen to adults and children. The dealer never confirmed this problem before selling it to me. Another manufacturer told me about this problem. The car showed warning signs like the braking system and brake fluid. The brake fuel was leaking. The problem appeared when I started the car.

08/15/2022 (date statement was wrote not date of incident) While driving into work at 50 miles an hour, traffic started to slow. While applying brake heard loud pop and vehicle rear end lounged right making steering difficult, I immediately released the brake and control came back I then gently applied the brake again to slow vehicle and felt slight clump from rear. This was very disconcerting my vehicle never had performed in that manner which made me feel very uncomfortable continuing driving, I had mechanic look at vehicle and was told the rear subframe had rusted and the rear left control arm broke away from frame??? My vehicle is very well maintain and just a little over 11 years old. Feeling belittled I began investing Mercedes’ forums and found this has been an issue with some of not all models and nothing has been done to correct this defect. I contacted Mercedes’ Benz and the service department knew exactly what it was and stated the is no recall on these failing subframe due to rust. This is a very serious safety issue due to the fact of loosing control of the vehicle when this component fails possibly causing serious injury or even death. To put insult to injury Mercedes has no plan to replace it and it’s left to the consumer to replace this non maintenance item. Looking into forums about this issue these subframes have failed at almost every odometer mileages, particularly the w204 chassis 2008-2014. A safety recall should be advised to the consumers whom own such vehicles!! Safety First!!!!!!!!! The rear subframe is rusted and broken, alignment is out, and steering wheel is off centered. Given the history of this model car, it has been under recall in multiple countries outside the United States. This is a common and very dangerous issue that needs to be addressed in the United States because if you call any auto shop or Mercedes they all say it is a common problem with 2008-2014 C-class models. When you look up this issue with this car it has multiple threads saying that the rear subframe has rusted and broke when it is not supposed to.

My 2011, 300C has 116,000 miles. Driving the car I notices that when I applied brakes car swayed to the left. Concerned I brought vehicle to MB in Paramus, NJ. Was told that rear sub-frame was rusted and dislodged along with the brake lines, also rusted. Car was serviced every 10k miles as recommended by dealer and just now these issues were identified. I recently also was told that the fuel tank was also rusted out and needed to be replaced. These issued were a danger to me and my family and could have resulted in potential deaths. MB does not have any recalls for these problems but I believe NHTSA should initiate a recall as many others have had these problems. A google search has identifies a large number of people having these same problems. On July 1, my daugther who is driving the car since about 8 months noticed a strange noise coming from the rear of the car. Since I was in Europe at that time I could not give her any assistance. On July 16 we both took a drive to Rhode Island to visit a college. I was the one driving, and I could also hear the noise coming from the rear. On the highway there was a back-up developing and I had to hit the brakes a littler harder. In doing so. the car was very unstable and it look like if the rear was going to overtake the front of the car. I was very scary even for myself who is a long time experience driver. After returning home I took the car to a mechanic and have him look at it. The resulting diagnosis revealed that the subframe was completely rusted out and was about to get disconnected from the under carriage of the car at any moment. The mechanic had a hard time to find a replacement part, and was finally able to locate an OEM subframe in California, the only one in the US. The price for the part alone was $1,500. I had no choice other than to have the car repaired at the mechanic since it was at that time undrivable. The total repair was almost $3,200. I took 2 pictures of the replaced subframe (see attached). The car is a 2011 MB C300-4-matic with just 100,800 miles on it. The was purchased used, with about 12,000 miles, in Febr. 2012 from Mercedes Benz of Westford, MA, which had used the car as a loaner/company car. The car was well maintained, used up until 2020 by my daughter's mother. She then bought herself another, newer C300 (2017 model) and decided to gift her older car to the daughter instead of trading it in. We thought, we knew a lot about the car and considered it a low risk transfer for a new, still learning driver. I will also file a formal complaint with Mercedes Benz if I have figured out the correct contact point. The internet shows, other people have experienced similar situations. MERCEDES-BENZ USA, LLC. ON 10/30/17, I HAD TO PAY 3445.13 FOR A REPAIR MY BALANCE SHAFTS GEARS, WHICH WE'RE DEEMED DEFECTIVE IN ALL M272 ENGINES WHICH IS IN MY C300. HOWEVER, IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED LAW SUIT, THIS PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN CORRECTED. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION TO THE MERCEDES-BENZ OF MODESTO TECHNICIANS, THEY SAID I MISSED THE CUT-OFF DATE BY ONE YEAR. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND CHECKED TO SEE IF I QUALIFIED FOR A FREE REPAIR, BUT LATER CLAIMED, THE ISSUE WITH THE DEFECTIVE BALANCE SHAFTS GEARS HAD BEEN ADDRESSED. HOW CAN THAT BE WHEN I INCURRED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. I EVENTUALLY HAD TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED AT MERCEDES OF PLEASANTON BECAUSE MODESTO DIDN'T HAVE ANY OPEN APPOINTMENTS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER. 3. FAULTY ELECTRONIC STEARING LOCK: ENGINE WON'T TURN ON AND STEEARING WHEEL IS LOCKED. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. MERCEDES CLAIM NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT WHEN YOUR DAUGHTER GETS STUCK AT MIDNIGHT AT AN AMUSEMENT PARK ON HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR NIGHT...THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER.

MY CAR HAS TWO RECALLS FOR THE AIRBAGS WHICH MEANS MY CAR CAN NOT BE TRADED IN BECAUSE IT'S NOT RESALEABLE. THESE RECALLS ARE NOT MINORITY'S AND WE RISK SERIOUS INJURY OR POSSIBLE DEATH BECAUSE MERCEDES CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. REASSURANING KNOWING IF YOU'RE EVER IN AN ACCIDENT YOUR AIRBAGS MAY DISTINCTION DURING IMPACT OR BE THE REASON YOU DIE. I'M STUCK WITH THIS CAR UNTIL THE REMEDIES ARE AVAILABLE, BUT I'M ALSO STUCK WITH RISKING MY LIFE. I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH HESITATING TO SPEED UP FROM A STOP OR SLOWER SPEED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS MY INTAKE MANIFOLD FLAP THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OF COURSE THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM AND IT'S GETTING WORSE. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AGAIN TO BE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG AND NO CODES WERE DISPLAYED DURING THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. MEANWHILE MY CAR GETS WORSE BY THE WEEK AND MY TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS CLEARLY WRONG. FOR THE THIRD TIME I HAD IT CHECKED AND THIS TIME HAD A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME. HE NOTED THE HESITATING FEELING WHILE DRIVING AND VALIDATED MY CONCERNS. HE SAID HE PERSONALLY BELIEVES MY TRANSMISSION IS MALFUNCTIONING BUT MERCEDES IS COVERING THEIR TAILS. HE SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO SPECIALIZES IN MERCEDES UNLESS I WANT TO PAY $9,000 TO MERCEDES TO BE TOLD A RANGE OF THINGS NEED TO BE FIXED AND THE PROBLEM NEVER BE SOLVED. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF AND I'LL NEVER BUY MERCEDES AGAIN.

I WASN'T DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL BY ITSELF AND STAYED THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE HARD SHOULDER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME 4 TIMES IN TOTAL. I SCANNED IT AND THEY SAID IT'S THE SPEED SENSOR INSIDE THE CONDUCTOR PLATE WHICH ENTIRELY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED BY MERCEDES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE A CAR GOING INTO NEUTRAL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IS DANGEROUS TO OTHER DRIVERS WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT CAN TAKE YOUR LIFE. MANY OTHER CARS WITH THE 722.6G TRANSMISSION HAS IT AND MERCEDES KNOWS ABOUT IT. BY THE WAY, THE VEHICLE WASN'T IN MOTION WHILE ALL THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH CAPITOL SPORT UHP (NA) TIRES, SIZE 245/40RI7 (NA), MODEL: F40247034. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SENSOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY MULTIBLE CRACKS LOCATED ON THE OUTER WALL OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES THAT ALLOWED AIR TO LEAK OUT. THE FAILURES WERE NOT REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ACCIDENT AS IT INVOLVED A POLICE CHASE OF A FELON WHO RAN A RED LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. MY CAR WAS HIT ON THE LEFT FRONT SIDE AND IS DEEMED TOTALED. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED IN MY VEHICLE AND I REQUIRED EMERGENCY TRANSPORT TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM. THIS ALSO INVOLVED A POLICE SHOOTING INCIDENT WITH THE DEATH OF THE OTHER DRIVER. THE VEHICLE IS PENDING TOWING TO A SALVAGE YARD.THE PRIMARY CONCERN IS A QUESTION OF DEFECTIVE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND FUTURE POTENTIAL INJURY TO OTHERS.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2011. AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, STARTED NOTICING A ROTTEN EGG ODOR COMING FROM MY CAR. THE SMELL SEEMS TO COME FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. USUALLY OCCURS WHEN I'M GOING 45MPH OR MORE GOING UP A HILL ON A HIGHWAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO CHECK, SO THEY TOOK THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE AND SAID THEY FOUND NO ODORS WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY? THEY SAID IT MIGHT BE THE TYPE OF FUEL I USE FOR THE CAR MAY AFFECT IT, BUT I USE PREMIUM GAS ONLY FROM CHEVRON. MERCEDES REALLY NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS, BECAUSE THE SMELL IS HORRIBLE!
