My car caught on fire due to AC malfunction
Jul 20, 2025
Fire: 1
Error code P052E71 on a 2017 c300 with 100k miles. It seems to be a very common and recurring issue that appears to have no real solution and is costing consumers thousands upon thousands. This malfunction does relate to emissions and this vehicle is operated in California.

I purchased my 2017 Mercedes c class coupe in 2020, used. Around 2021, I started hear noise from the sunroof when driving on the highway. I went to get it repaired and they mentioned they needed to tighten the screws. This week, I was closing my sunroof and then I heard a crack. I went to a shop to get it manually closed for now on calis 105 degree heat. I am now learning there has been recalls for Mercedes 2017+ coupes but it’s not stated for my specific car to get it fixed. How do I go about this? I feel the sunroof is faulty and has been faulty.
Sep 08, 2024
The glass on the panoramic sunroof exploded/shattered under normal driving conditions. It was raining but not too heavy. It didn’t appear that anything hit the glass and no potholes were hit. It seemed to be due to pressure or temperature which caused the explosion which sounded like a loud gunshot and the glass was in pieces. There were no injuries as the sunroof shade was closed and thus the glass fell on the shade. It has not been inspected by dealership or insurance as closed on Sunday and today due to Labor Day, but yes it is available for inspection upon request. However, as it was raining and I needed to get home, I covered the entire sunroof with Duct Tape.

Nov 08, 2025
During cold starts the fuel injectors/clamps leak causing strong gasoline smell inside the cabin. After research online this is a common issue with W205 systems. I am beyond surprised this has not been investigated and reported as a safety recall as it can pose a fire hazard. Please investigate and Mercedes should be fixing this issue….

every winter this car will have a heavy smell of gas in the engine and the cabin, after driving it for around 15 minutes with the windows open in the cold it goes away. no problem in the summer time. My mechanic said it's a common problem with these cars.
Jan 02, 2024
There is a short rubber fuel line/hose in the engine compartment that is attached with compression clamps; the hose connects the fuel line from the gas tank to the high pressure fuel pump. When it gets cold outside (below ~40 degrees Fahrenheit) the clamps loosen a bit and the hose will leak gas The entire interior smells like gasoline, really bad.

While driving on the freeway car pool lane with my wife, a sudden vibration in the front tires was observed, the car felt like it was pushed to the right then to the left even though it was in the center of the lane. Told my wife, "something is wrong with the car!" Thinking that I may have had a flat tire, I slowed down, the car went into a violent flat spin until the right rear end of the car hit the center lane divider. Airbags deployed. 911 was called, we were assisted by Highway patrol to the other side of the freeway. As the car was put on a flatbed tow truck, the tow truck driver commented that one of the front wheel was not turning. We found out that the right rack and pinion broke. The car was declared a Total Loss.

Keep getting a code P052E! Changed the oil and code went away for a few days then came back. Looked into getting it fixed and it seems like Mercedes has known about this issue and hasn’t called for a recall on this piece of equipment! Very costly to fix and says it needs to be replaced every 30k to 50k miles! At around 1k to 3k to fix everytime that’s something they should recall

I have a mercedes c300 2017 and recently I was driving my car and the check engine light came on all of a sudden so I took it to my local shop to diagnose it they told me it was the PCV valve, so I called mercedes and they’re telling me that this is not covered and of course my warranty is no longer covered I have about 63k miles on the car. Mercedes is saying they don’t have a recall for this but I’ve googled around and multiple people are saying the same issue happened to them around the 55-65k range. It’s super frustrating that this doesn’t flag a recall.

WHEN IDLING AT THE LIGHT. THE CAR WOULD SHUT ITSELF OFF. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON. I THEN HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR WITH THE PUSH START TO RESET IT. THEN IT'LL WORK FINE. I HAVE BEEN TO MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IN NEW ROCHELLE FOR FOUR TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY CHANGED THE BATTERY THE FIRST TIME. TWO DAYS LATER THE SITUATION OCCURRED AGAIN. THEN THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME THEY GAVE ME BACK THE CAR AND SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE NO CODES POPPED UP. BOTH TIMES I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THE SITUATION OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED OVER 30 TIMES SINCE OVER 29,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND RIGHT NOW I AM IN A LOANER VEHICLE ON THE FOURTH TIME THAT I HAVE GIVEN MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE OF THIS SITUATION. THE INCIDENT IS DANGEROUS IN THAT ONE TIME I WAS IN AN INTERSECTION AND IT SHUT OFF ON ME. CARS GOING THE OPPOSITE WAY ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE OF MY REACTION TIME TO PUT THE CAR ON START AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. THIS CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FOR POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS. IN ADDITION, I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED WITH OLDER MODELS AND OTHER MODELS.

Car check engine light came on with only 62,000 miles. Diagnosed as code P052E, the issue is the positive crankcase ventilation valve being faulty. Regular oil changes and maintenance was done. I see multiple complaints with this issue, why is this not recalled? It is very expensive to have fixed.

My car threw the check engine code P052E, the issue is the positive crankcase ventilation valve being faulty. Incredibly common on this model and now failed on my car too at 60K miles. All maintenance was done up to this point with the dealer and at or before recommended intervals.

My car leaked oil very fast while me & my wife were on a trip and it stopped on the highway and engine was stalling and misfiring due to a manufacture defect that is common with this model so it did put us in a very dangerous & risky situation. Now after i paid $1,740 the dealer is saying that my car needs a new engine due to cracked piston in cylinder 1 that damaged the engine which is a common problem with this model around the 50k miles.

5 complaints
WHEEL LIPS ON THIS VEHICLE DEFORM WITH LITTLE PROVOCATION RESULTING IN RAPID AIR LOSS, LOSS OF HANDLING AND IN EXTREME CASES A CRASH. THE SHAPE OF THESE WHEELS DEVIATES FROM OTHER ALLOY WHEELS IN A WAY THAT PROMOTES THIS BEHAVIOR. THE CURVE OF THE RIM BARREL BETWEEN THE LIPS (ALSO KNOW AS THE BELL) IS MUCH SHALLOWER THAN MANY OTHER WHEELS. THE RESULT IS THAT THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE BARREL MEETS THE LIPS IS CLOSER TO A RIGHT ANGLE THAN COMMON. THE BARREL MEETING THE LIP AT AN ANGLE CLOSER TO PARALLEL WITH THE PAVEMENT GREATLY INCREASE THE RISK THAT SUDDEN DEFLATION COULD OCCUR RESULTING IN THE AFOREMENTIONED SAFETY ISSUES.

THE WHEELS ON MY TIRES WILL CRACK AT THE SLIGHTEST STRESS FROM THE ROAD. IT COULD BE A BUMP, A TINY POT HOLE, EVEN A STICK, AND THESE TIRES WILL BECOME DEFECTIVE, EITHER BY CRACKING, BECOMING FLAT OR THE WHEEL BECOMING COMPLETELY IMMOBLIZED. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR HOURS BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES. I'VE COME INTO WORK UN-SHOWERED WITH NO SLEEP, BECAUSE I WAS STRANDED FOR SOMETIMES UP TO 12 HOURS BEFORE I WOULD GET HELP. ITS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. THERE IS NO WAY THESE TIRES PASSED EVEN BASIC INSPECTION. THEY ARE DANGER TO ANYONE USING THEM.

After approx 24,000 miles and 18 months, I was told all four tires needed to be replaced and were down to between 3/32nd and 2/32nd tread left on all four tires, despite regular rotations, alignment, and overall car maintenance. These were purchased at Mavis in East Brunswick, NJ in May, 2022 and we were notified of the tread wear after a regular maintenance appointment at a Mercedes Benz dealer. I notified Mavis and came in for them to measure tread depth, which was found to be in the unsafe range. Mavis is only offering me warranty coverage, based on mileage used, of a total of $360. Obviously, this is a manufacturer defect since all four tires wore so quickly and evenly. I was told there is a 40,000 mile warranty.

I HAVE LEASED A CAR FROM THE TORRANCE MBZ ON PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AND I HAVE 12K MILEAGE ON THIS CAR. LAST WEEK I NOTICED THAT MY FRONT TIRES TREADS ARE WEARING OUT AND THEY ARE BECOMING FLAT. THEY ARE ORIGINAL TIRES. ON 11/11/17 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO ROTATE THEY SAID THEY CAN'T BECAUSE THEY 2 DIFFERENT SIZES SO THEY CANT ROTATE THEM THEY GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF 365.00 FOR EACH TIRES TO REPLACE. I ASKED THE ASSOCIATE OF THE DEALER WHY IS THIS HAPPENING I ONLY HAVE 12K MILES. I HAVE BEEN LEASING CARS SINCE 1997 AND NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING JUST NORMAL SERVICE NO TIRE PROBLEM AND THE SHOCKING THING IS THAT THE CAR HAS 12K MILES. THE MANUFACTURE FOR THE TIRES IS PIRELLI AND MY TIRE BRAND NAME IS P ZERO. I CAME HOME AND WENT TO THE PIRELLI THEY SAID IT'S NORMAL AND THEY GAVE ME A CLAIM NUMBER # [XXX] TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO GIVE ME DISCOUNT. IT WAS SHOCKING TO ME WHEN THEY SAID IT'S NORMAL. I DON'T THINK SO SPECIALLY WITH THE LOW MILEAGE IF I HAD OVER 50K THEN MAYBE. LIKE I SAID I HAVE HAD CARS BEFORE AND NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH TIRES NOR TO CHANGE ANYTHING. I AM A LITTLE TIGHT IN FINANCIAL 365.00 FOR EACH TIRES AND PLUS THE COSTS IT'S A LITTLE TOO MUCH FOR ME TO PAY. I AM FLING THIS COMPLAINT HOPING THAT YOU COULD HEAR ME AND HELP ME OUT PLEASE. THIS IS NOT FAIR SPECIALLY I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ANSWER I GOT FROM THE PIRELLI COMPANY. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

THE 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ C300 VEHICLE SUFFERED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER/ELECTRICS WHILE IN MOTION AT SPEED AND IN TRAFFIC, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO UNEXPECTEDLY STOP ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE LOSS OF ALL ELECTRICAL SUPPLY LEAVES THE VEHICLE IMMOBILE, WITHOUT WARNING INDICATORS AND CANNOT BE MOVED. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS AROUND 5PM IN A BUSY ROAD JUNCTION IN THE DARK, WITH LIMITED LIGHTING. AS THE VEHICLE IS BLACK COLORED IT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS AT ANOTHER BUSY ROAD JUNCTION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AT MIDDAY ON A SATURDAY. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE POLICE HAD TO ATTEND AS THE IMMOBILIZED VEHICLE POSED A SERIOUS HAZARD WITH A RISK OF CAUSING A COLLISION TO OTHER ROAD USERS. THE APPROXIMATE TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD IN THESE TWO INCIDENTS WERE BETWEEN 45 - 60 MINUTES. THE PERIOD BETWEEN THE TWO INCIDENTS WAS 11 DAYS. THE DAY FOLLOWING THEN FIRST INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MERCEDES DEALERSHIP, WHO HAD THE VEHICLE IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR FIVE DAYS. INITIALLY THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD NOT FOUND A CAUSE FOR THE LOSS OF ALL ELECTRICAL POWER IN THE VEHICLE. SUBSEQUENTLY WHEN PRESSED ON THE MATTER, THEY STATED THE CAUSE WAS A CONNECTION PROBLEM TO THE POSITIVE TERMINAL ON THE BATTERY. IN GOOD FAITH THE VEHICLE WAS COLLECTED BY ME AND DRIVEN WITHOUT ANY APPARENT PROBLEM FOR FOUR DAYS, PRIOR TO THE SECOND INCIDENT. THE MILEAGE DRIVEN IN THAT PERIOD WAS LESS THAN 100 MILES IN TOTAL. THIS VEHICLE POSES A SERIOUS RISK TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND OTHER ROAD USERS.

The sunroof exploded spontaneously while driving to a destination. When the incident happened, I was stopped at a red light. I panicked as it sounded like gunshots hitting my car. I pulled over to the nearest safest destination to inspect the car. This put the safety of myself at risk and others at risk who were driving along the sides and/or behind me. This incident was confirmed by a dealer, as I went to Mercedes Benz Sugar Land on the following day of the incident and was quoted around $3,700 to have it repaired. The vehicle not been inspected by police and/or insurance. There were no warning signs that this could have happened besides the fact that Mercedes Benz USA is currently under an active lawsuit for this happening to several other drivers. I do believe that this is a manufacturing defect affecting safety, as similar incidents involving Mercedes-Benz panoramic sunroofs, which may indicate a wider defect trend.

I purchased my 2017 C300 class Mercedes-Benz ("MB") in May 2021 from a used car dealership in Mobile, AL. At that time it had 36,000 miles. Less than 2 years later, on or about 12/15/22, as I was driving, the MB suddenly and without warning began to vibrate violently and immediately lost power. The car had @54,000 miles on it. I routinely drive interstate to and from work and had just gotten off of the interstate. I was lucky that I was driving at a low speed when this happened; otherwise, a serious accident could have resulted. I took it to the local MB dealership which told me that the car failed a compression test in the #1 cylinder and that the engine would have to be replaced. Subsequent research on the cause of this total engine failure with low mileage revealed that this engine has a chronic piston defect that damages the #1 cylinder, causing it to lose compression, and that MB has known about the defect for many years, an issued an internal bulletin about it. MB has not alerted the public nor instigated a recall. I was not informed by MB at any time that the C300 class engine had a chronic piston defect that would damage the #1 cylinder which would, in turn, cause the engine to lose power and the vehicle to vibrate and shake, creating a dangerous diving condition under all circumstances, but especially if the car was being driven at speed on a federal interstate highway. Despite demands by me and others, MB refuses to responsibly address the issue. The driving public is, and remains, clearly, in great risk of harm due to this defective engine and associated power train issues. It is patently unreasonable for MB to produce and market such a unsafe, dangerous and defective product that poses an unreasonable risk of harm to its customers and others when being used as it was intended. I understand that the NHTSA has opened an investigation on this defect and wish for my voice to be heard on it. Please contact me [XXX] for further details. At approximately 26,500 miles of use, the check engine light came on in my Mercedes Benz C300. I brought the vehicle to the dealership and they informed me that the diagnosis was a crankcase vent valve malfunction. The MB fault code is P52E71. After paying Mercedes to fix the issue, I found forums on the internet where many other MB owners reported the same issue at around the same mileage. Being that this seems to be a common malfunction with the C300, I believe that it should be considered as a recall issue. I don't know what could have happened if I didn't service the vehicle, but any engine issue is dangerous while a vehicle is in motion.

I am reporting a serious vehicle safety hazard caused by improper and unsafe repair work performed by USA Platinum Motor, located at 1221 California Lane #126B, Arlington, TX. I brought my 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 in for a cold start rattle with no warning lights or prior issues. The shop diagnosed a loose timing chain and I authorized the repair. After the repairs, the vehicle was returned with critical safety defects, including a loose fuel pump, unsecured fuel line, missing bolts, and improperly reassembled engine components. Shortly after pickup, the car experienced loss of acceleration on the interstate, a strong odor of fuel, and a sudden loss of power, creating a dangerous and life-threatening situation. The vehicle had to be towed back to the shop. The manager, who is not a certified mechanic, admitted he personally “fixed” the issue by tightening the fuel pump himself. A Mercedes-Benz diagnostic inspection later confirmed multiple severe assembly errors, including missing fasteners, unsecured oil cooler, disconnected vent lines, and other safety-related defects in the fuel and cooling systems. These unsafe and negligent repairs created an extreme fire hazard, engine instability, and risk of sudden failure while driving. I am requesting a formal NHTSA investigation into this matter to ensure vehicle safety compliance and to prevent similar incidents affecting other consumers.

In October 2024, the rear subframe was replaced due to rust perforation in the area of the suspension arm mounting bracket. I had no warning. The car was in for routine service at Mercedes Benz of New London. It had rusted from the inside out and was considered unsafe to drive by the Mercedes service advisor. I could have had a serious accident! I had no choice but to replace the subframe as it is my only vehicle. Shockingly I learned many others have had this issue with various Mercedes models/years and that Mercedes Benz knows of this serious safety problem and there is a class action lawsuit pending but subframe replacement is not covered under warranty by Mercedes Benz, so the cost was mine to bear.

The sunroof is very glitchy and this is common in all Benz I have had a few different Benz and they all eventually have this same issue with their panoramic sunroof. Sometimes it opens half way life one side is up and the other side is closed and other times it will open fully but not close and other times it won’t open at all. This is a common problem that many Benz owners have stated this in the Benz forums all over. This is a safety issue due to unexpected weather conditions if it rains and it’s stuck inside gets damage and owners get wet which is also a distraction and may cause accidents. Please investigate this issue thoroughly. Their sunroofs should be recalled and extended warranties placed on them automatically by Mercedes Benz due to this being a very common issue in all model’s panorama sunroofs particularly C300s year 2017 thank you for looking into this matter.

When I started my car, the dash did not reveal park, drive, or reverse. It illuminated with a warning light indicating an Electronic Stability Problem (ESP). Research revealed this to be an important safety feature and that the Mercedes-warning-lights-electric-stability-control may have problems with traction control requiring attention. The ESP light was NOT flashing for the system to intervene – as the car was parked in my garage. It did not light up with the word ‘OFF’ to assess whether it may have been inadvertently deactivated. The light stayed on indicating a suddenly improperly working ESP system. The light remained on after stopping and restarting the engine several times as the dealer maintenance technician suggested concluding with my vehicle being towed to Mercedes Benz of Augusta for service. I am not sure if the MB mechanic reproduced the issue as they discussed several other potential failure points before resolving to replace an item in the steering control module. Experiencing this alert, I became more concerned that a safety inspection may not have been part of the last maintenance service. This is my third Mercedes and I make sure to keep up with all my maintenance. I had never seen this warning light before. Up until this time the only warning light I had seen in my car was for low air in my tires. My safety was not at immediate risk. I am glad my car was not able to be driven, as I would have hated for it to stop while I was out and about. I am a proud Mercedes Benz owner as they are world renown for the safest cars on the road. My car has just over 25,000 miles and it was unimaginable that it would have this kind of failure. I should not be held accountable to pay for a safety failure that I should be part of required maintenance checks. An additional periodic Mercedes required safety inspection could prevent this potential breakdown while providing another measure to protect the life of Mercedes Benz owners.

I was driving on a straight away doing the speed limit which is reported seconds before the car crash. The steering wheel turned to the left really hard out of no where and wouldn’t let me gain control over the car again. I was sober it was 9am and I was aware of my driving. I ended up spinning out and landed in the ditch feet away from the light pole. I made it know to everyone what happened, but they looked at me crazy. I stopped driving that car and sent it back to Mercedes to get a detailed inspection. Which lasted about 30 days for them to get back to me about what happened. When I received the call to get my car they didn’t provide any information about the incident. Instead they just sent it to corporate and left me in the dark. I was in pain during this whole time. I was couldn’t find a lawyer that was willing to help. It’s been three years since the incident and I will have to live with pain for the rest of my life. WHEN THE CAR IS IN THE A FEATURE, WHERE IT TURNS ON AND OFF WHEN NOT IN MOTION, IT GETS STUCK IN THAT MODE AS IF A MAGNET IS HOLDING IT IN THAT POSITION. IT WILL NOT MOVE, IT STALLS. I TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND SOMETIMES IT STILL WILL NOT MOVE, SOMETIMES, IT WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ONCE, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF MY MAILBOX TO PICK UP MAIL, AND ANOTHER OCCASION I PULLED INTO MY GARAGE, AND IT STOPPED, AND WOULD NOT TURN ON. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, I WOULD HATE TO BE IN TRAFFIC, RAILWAY CROSSING, IR STOP SIGN AND THIS OCCURRED. PEOPLES LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST DUE TO THIS ISSUE. ONE LADY WAS HIT BY A TRAIN WHEN THIS SAME SITUATION OCCURRED AND LOST HER LIFE. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND OF MY GRANDKIDS WHOM I TRANSPORT IN THIS CAR. IT ALSO SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE GEARS. SOMETIMES, I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT SITS THERE. I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT WILL NOT MOVE. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 MERCEDES BENZ C43 AMG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 63 MPH IN THE RAIN, LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS IT SLED TO THE LEFT AND CRASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL. THE INCIDENT OF MARCH 12TH DID NOT FEEL LIKE I HAD HYDRO-PLANNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED SUCH AS AIR BAGS FAILURE, SHOCK FAILURE, SUSPENSION FAILURE AND TRACK FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER'S SIDE WAS DAMAGED UNDER THE FRONT BUMPER AND THE FRAME WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING WAS EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED AND A FAILURE CAUSE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE ON-LINE AND BELIEVES THAT THE ELECTRIC STEERING WAS DEFECTIVE AND MAY BE A CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL STEERING. DURING THE INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE BY PENSKE AUTO COLLISION CENTER, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT TELL IF THE STEERING DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED DURING THE COLLISION OR AS A RESULT OF A DEFECT. THEY ALSO FOUND DAMAGE TO THE REAR DRIVE UNIT ALTHOUGH, AS VERY VISIBLE IN THE PHOTOS, THE VEHICLE STRUCK THE BARRIER WITH THE FRONT LEFT (DRIVER'S SIDE) PORTION OF THE FRONT BUMPER. THE REAR OF THE CAR NEVER SLAMMED INTO THE BARRIER BUT DID SCRAPE ALONG THE DRIVER'S SIDE MOMENTARILY BUT THERE WAS NO IMPACT. THE COLLISION CENTER COULD NOT ACCOUNT FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE REAR DRIVE UNIT. IN RESEARCH, I FOUND A FEW MENTIONS AND COMPLAINTS OF THE REAR AXLE DISENGAGING WHICH COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. *DT*JB

ON MARCH 8, 2018 MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING TO A MEETING THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL OF THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP SENDING THE VEHICLE INTO A 360-DEGREE SPIN. ALL SAFETY FEATURES IN THE VEHICLE FAILED. NO BRAKES, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON IMPACT. ON OR AROUND OCTOBER 21ST OF 2018. MY VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A SECOND ACCIDENT. THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VEHICLE ARE IDENTICAL. WHILE ON MY WAY TO A MEETING THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL GOT LOCKED WHICH SENT THE CAR INTO A 360-DEGREE SPIN. BRAKES, STABILITY CONTROL FAIL, THE CAR ACCELERATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKES, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLPOY ON IMPACT. AFTER THE ACCIDENT I REQUESTED MBUSA TO DISPATCH A SOFTWARE ENGINEER TO HAVE THE ONBOARD ELECTRONICS EXAMINED FOR A POSSIBLE DEFECT. MBUSA ALONG WITH THE MANUFACTURER ARE REFUSING TO HAVE AN ENGINEER SENT. THE DEALERSHIP IS ENGAGED IN DECEITFUL TACTICS IN THEIR COMMUNICATIONS WITH MBUSA LLC. THE DEALERSHIP HAS LIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO MBUSA STATING I AM NOT SHOWING UP TO PRESCRIBED MEETINGS. I HAVE SHOWED ON TIME ON THE DATE THE MEETINGS WITH THE ENGINEER WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE PLACE AND HAVE A WITNESS. ON THE NIGHT OF THE SECOND ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS BROKEN INTO TWICE. THE DEALERSHIP STAFF HAVE CHANGED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE ON THE VEHICLE TO MAKE IT APPEAR AS THOUGH IT WAS THE TIRE'S FAULT. THE PURCHASE RECEIPT FOR THE TIRE AND THE DOT NUMBERS DO NOT MATCH THE DOT NUMBER CURRENTLY ON A TIRE REPLACED BY THE STAFF. MBUSA ALLEGES IT IS THE TIRES FAULT WITHOUT PROVIDING ANY SCIENTIFIC FACT BASED EVIDEMCE. A YEAR AN A HALF LATER THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED AND EVERYONE IS POINTING FINGERS AT EACH OTHER.

ON 7/30/18 I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AFTER THE COOLANT MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR BEGAN OVERHEATING, AND THERE WAS NO AC. I WAITED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE MORE THAN 3 HOURS. I WAS INFORMED OF THE INCORRECT POSITIONING OF THE ALTERNATOR FROM MANUFACTURING, WHICH RESULTED IN MULTIPLE LIGHTS ON CLUSTER. THEY FOUND THE ENGINE BELT FELL OFF & REPLACED THE V-BELT. THEY PERFORMED LI13.22-P-060187, AND RELEASED STRESS OF ALTERNATOR AND CORRECTED TORQUE. THEY ALSO WORKED ON A CAMPAIGN/RECALL (#2018070005) I HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF. ON 3/15/19 DURING THE SCHEDULED 20K SERVICE, THEY TESTED BATTERY TEST CODE WITH CABIN FILTERS WIPERS AND BRAKE FLUID SERVICE AND PERFORMED A VEHICLE INSPECTION. ON 3/19/19, 4 DAYS AFTER THE SCHEDULED 20K SERVICE, I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF US1 DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE COOLANT LIGHT CAME AGAIN. THANKFULLY, I SAFELY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT AFTER THE CAR TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THE REPORT SHOWED A WEAK CRANK & BATTERY MESSAGE ON THE CLUSTER DISPLAY. THEY TESTED THE BATTERY AND FOUND CODE HR250BT-DAD4LFB STATING, 'REPLACE BATTERY'. THEY REMOVED A0019820208 DATE 45/16 AND INSTALLED A0019829108 DATE 03/18. THE DRIVE BELT HAD COME OFF THE DRIVE SYSTEM & FOUND LI13.22-P-060187, WHICH STATED THEY NEEDED TO PERFORM AN ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE OF THE ALTERNATOR AND INSTALLED A NEW BELT FOR THE 2ND TIME. THE BELT ACTUALLY CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TENSIONING DEVICE, WHICH RESULTED IN THEM REPLACING THE TENSIONER, AND PERFORMING THE INSTRUCTION FOR LI. THEY TEST DROVE THE CAR & SAID IT WAS FIXED. ON 4/4/19, JUST 3 DAYS AFTER PICKING UP MY CAR, IT TURNED OFF ON MY AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF US1. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP STATING THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD SHUT DOWN IN 3 MINUTES. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT ON A CONGESTED ROAD.

I HIT A BEAR IN MONTANA IN MY 2017 MERCEDES C300 AT 86MPH AND DESTROYED THE FRONT OF MY CAR. THE SEATBELTS DEPLOYED AND WRENCHED US INTO OUR SEATS AND SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE FRONT AIR VENTS BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. ON THE DASH THE VEHICLES STATED THAT THE AIRBAGS IN ALL 4 ZONES IN THE CAR MALFUNCTIONED AND SERVICE IS REQUIRED. MERCEDES IS STATING THAT THE LIGHT IS FROM A SEATBELT ERROR CODE BUT THE DASH DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SRS OR SEATBELTS. I DO NOT WANT TO PUT MY FAMILY BACK IN THE CAR AND DO NOT FEEL IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE ERROR MESSAGES ON THE DASH. I DO NOT KNOW HOW I CAN HIT SOMETHING THAT HARD AND NOT HAVE THEM DEPLOY. MERCEDES IS DOING AN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION BUT THEY HAVE NOT GIVEN ME THE RESULTS OF THAT AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 WEEKS. VEHICLE WAS IN FOR A AIRBAG RECALL NOT TAKATA RELATED ON JANUARY OF 2018 AND THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN REPAIRED.

SINCE I BOUGHT IN FEBRUARY 2017 BRAND NEW 2017 MERCEDES BENZ C300 CONVERTIBLE IN ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP I HAD TO BRING MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES FOR SERVICES LIKE, THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WOULD NOT WORK, THE MIRRORS WOULD NOT FOLD, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT ADJUST, ELECTRONICAL ISSUES LIKE CONNECTING MY CELL PHONE TO THE CAR. ( I HAD THE TOP GOT REPLACED ONLY AFTER COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR.) TODAY APRIL 27 2018 I COULD NOT START THE CAR IN THE MORNING TO GO TO WORK, THE DISPLAY WAS SHOWING THE KEY IS NOT DETECTED( HAD TO EXIT THE CAR COUPLE OF TIMES, WITH THE KEY AND TRY AGAIN TO START THE CAR UNTIL IT FINALLY WORKED).HAD MY TOP OPEN WHILE WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND ONCE PARKED THE TOP WOULD NOT CLOSE, AND AGAIN HAD TO EXIT THE CAR LOCK UNLOCK AN TRY AGAIN COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE IF FINALLY CLOSED. I DID RECEIVE A LETTER SAYING THAT THE CAR WAS DEFEFECTED, AND THAT THE AIRBAG ON THE DRIVERS SEET MAY NOT WORK, I'LL ATTACH THE LETTER ( BROUGHT FOR SERVICES) BUT IT'S SEEMS THAT THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. ALSO THE TIRE PRESSURE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS IT'S LOW, AND THE DISPLAY WOULD SHOW SOMETIMES THAT THE SEET IS NOT FIRM OR STEADY. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR TO FEEL SAFE AND DO NOT FEEL THAT WAY.

THE CAR ENTERS LIMP MODE IN THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT LOOSES ALL THE POWER AND WARNING POPS UP AS ACTIVE BRAKE ASSIST IS INOPERATIVE, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AS WELL. IF YOU MANAGE TO GLIDE THE CAR TO A STOP AND RESTART THE CAR, THE CAR STARTS TO BACK UP AS NORMAL. TOOK THE CAR FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES, INTAKE AIRFLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED BUT THE CAR STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUE. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE, THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE NEWER MECEDES CARS WHERE THE CAR GOES INTO A SAFETY MODE WHERE THE ENGINE CUTS ALL THE POWER TURNING THE SITUATION INTO A EVEN MORE DANGEROUS SCENARIO. AS PART OF THE SAFETY MODE, IF THE CAR LOOSES ALL THE POWER, THEN THERE IS FEW THINGS THAT CAN BE DONE TO COME OUT OF IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS REPEATED OCCURENCE OF THIS PROBLEM HAS THE ABILITY TO CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING THE CARE, I NOTICED THE SEAT BELT LIGHT REMAINED ON DESPITE BEING BUCKLED AND THE PASSENGER AIR WAS NOT SET DESPITE MY WIFE SITTING IN THE SEAT. I FOUND THIS ODD, CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND RESEARCHED IF THE CAR HAD A RECALL...THIS CAR DID HAVE A RECALL AND WAS SOLD WHILE IN ACTIVE RECALL STATUS. FEDERAL LAW EXPLICITLY PROHIBITS DEALERSHIPS FROM SELLING A NEW CAR IF A PENDING RECALL HASN'T BEEN PERFORMED. AS, A RESULT, I NO LONGER WANT THIS CAR BECAUSE THE CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SOLD UNTIL THE RECALL WAS PREPARED. BUT, MORE SO BECAUSE THE REMEDY TO REPAIR THIS CAR IS NOT UNTIL MARCH OF 2017.
