Check Engine light came on. Mercedes Benz authorized service mechanic confirmed it is code P052E - Positive Crankcase Ventilation regulator valve issues that can cause engine to seize while driving. Vehicle has always been serviced regularly at authorized dealer service center. Current estimated Repair and replacement cost $9,700+ . Mercedes Benz authorized Service Center informed that the part is backordered and no estimated date available.

Strong gasoline smell coming from the engine bay every morning at start up. I removed protective plastic lining from the under carriage to identify the issue. I identified a lot of gasoline dripping from the top portion of the engine compartment where the High Pressure Fuel Pump is located. There was no warning or check engine lights that alerted of this issue of a gasoline leak. This is very dangerous as it could cause the vehicle to catch fire.

P052E code showing on the diagnostic machine. This is an issue with the positive crankcase ventilation regularly valve. I’ve read that this is a common issue with my vehicle that often happens after the warranty expires.

vent valve po52e71 - I have found thousands of the same issue with my car online. Mercedes covers this piece as an emission piece for Deisal Engine but not gas engines. This peice needs to be recalled and covered under emissions warranty asap.

The Panoramic roof glass exploded suddenly. Throwing shattered glass pieces on the Highway and into the cabin of the car. No object or environmental conditions caused this incident. It just exploded while driving ~ 50mph

The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the first panel of the panoramic sunroof went off track and failed to close as intended. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, the panoramic sunroof glass was pushed down firmly, and the sunroof closed. The contact attempted to open the sunroof, but the sunroof failed to operate as intended; however, the contact heard a motorized sound coming from the sunroof. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and was not repaired. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V715000 (Visibility) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000. Warranty on the car has expired and was told consumer would have to pay for it. Rep said she would talk to other people to see what can be done but she is not making any promises.

The last time I drove my vehicle was Monday [XXX] which that day it was raining. I covered my car with my car cover that day because I don't use my vehicle often and being that it was raining I covered it and my vehicle was fine on this day. On Monday [XXX] it was raining as well, I took off my car cover off and when we opened the trunk of the vehicle we noticed that the trunk was wet including the bag to my car cover. We also noticed from the trunk opening that the vehicle had some spots of mold and there was also mold spots on the back of the seat right side of vehicle. I had an appointment at Mercedes Benz dealership in Portland Oregon to change my transmission & engine oil. As I drove the vehicle to the dealership for my appointment my daughter and I noticed drops of water falling on us and we didn't have our windows open because it was raining. The water was coming from the sunroof area and the sunroof wasn't open. We kept driving until we got to the dealership and once we got there we noticed that the back seats were also wet and the right side back seat had a few spots of mold on the seatbelt. We left the vehicle at the dealership. Today Wednesday [XXX] the dealership is stating that because the sunroof is used so much the parts in that area due to wear and tear it's no longer working properly. They are charging my daughter 500.00 for a water test that they did to the top of the sunroof and for changing the seals the the sunroof and the back of the trunk they are charging I believe an additional 736.00. I feel that there is something wrong with the sunroof this vehicle. My daughter only drove it for about one year and in May 2018 I became the only driver of this vehicle and to be honest I don't even open the sunroof at all. The dealership is stating that it will cost approximately 15,000.00 to fix this problem and if not considering this vehicle a total loss. I pressed the "Park" button, but the transmission did not go into park. When I let my foot off the break, thinking that I was in Park, the car started rolling backwards. Thank God my wife was in the car and noticed the motion and shouted to me to break the car. I was able to stop the car before hitting anybody or anything, but it was dangerously scary.

The seat belt latch in the second seating row, the outboard seatbelt latch plate retracted into the area between the c-pillar paneling and the rear side paneling. The rear occupant was not be able to fasten the seat belt latch. The latch plate retracted behind the panel and the seat belt for the affected rear seat was not be available for fastening. I was able to grab the latch plate with a pliers and bring it out from behind the panel but I am afraid this situation will occur again. I checked my VIN against you checker and it says NO RECALL is pending. I assume MB did not include this VIN in its report to you or falsely claimed the vehicle was repaired. reference # 2018030012, May 2018

While driving vehicle, the seat belt pretensioner is activated and the seat belt light and alarm is activated. This cycle occurs throughout the drive, regardless of speed. Seems as though the seat belt latch does not sense that the seat belt is activated. This is very distracting to the driver. We reported the issue to the dealership, but have not heard anything since the report. This problem occurs on and off, randomly. May occur for a week straight, then stop for a day or two, then start again.

2017 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 Coupe 27,700 miles. I was driving on MD I-95 when the Power Steering Malfunction warning light came on and I lost power steering. I got off the next exit. Steering was very difficult especially when the car slowed. The Mercedes Benz dealer is replacing the electronic steering power control unit, power steering motor and steering rack. Cost $4910. Mercedes Benz has had GLC 300 recalls for Power Steering Malfunction but not for my model year.

The steering column has stopped moving up/down. I guess due to some latency build up (after having tried to adjust the steering a few times prior to the drive) caused the steering to move down (one time incident) while driving and caused momentary loss of steering control due to slippage and had to pull over to the shoulder of the freeway. While this was a one time incident it could become a safety issue...this seems to be a rampant issue (up/down movement getting jammed) on all MB vehicles and anything related to critical vehicular controls should be flagged as such.

TRAVELING 60 MPH ON INTERSTATE, WHEN STEERING WHEEL JERKED TO THE RIGHT AND THEN LEFT, BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED, AND SEAT BELT TIGHTENED. LASTED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES, THEN JERKING STOPPED. WITHIN ANOTHER 30 MILES HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES. EACH TIME AN ALERT APPEARED ON DISPLAY 'BLIND SPOT ASSIST IS DEACTIVATED, NOT OPERATIONAL'. STOPPED AND HAD CAR WASHED TO REMOVE ANY DEBRIS FROM SENSORS, BUT PROBLEM PERSISTED. HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY, 5/2, AT 45 MPH ON PUBLIC HIGHWAY. CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED WHEN THESE INSTANCES OCCURRED. TERRIFYING! I HAD TO FIGHT THE WHEEL TO KEEP CONTROL.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS STUTTER ON WINDSHIELD AND MALFUNCTION. THIS JITTERING ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD IMPAIRS VISIBILITY. WINDSHIELD IS NOT KEPT CLEAR, EVEN WITH NEW BLADES. WINDSHIELD CLEANERS ALSO PLUG UP CONTINUALLY MAKING WASHING THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING IN AREAS WHICH CREATE VISIBILITY PROBLEMS DUE TO DUST, BUGS, ETC....IMPOSSIBLE -- EVEN IF CLEANER FLUID TANK IS FULL. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS AN ISSUE. MERCEDES KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM. THE SUV HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR 4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING LAST OCTOBER. THEY HAVE REPLACED IT EACH TIME, SAY THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, AND SAY THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT AGAIN. THEY SAY THAT NON-MERCEDES WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID IS A PROBLEM (BUT THE FIRST 3 TIMES, THE FLUID WAS ORIGINAL MERCEDES FLUID). THEY SAY PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN A CAR WASH IS PROHIBITED -- A RIDICULOUS COMMENT. WHO DOESN'T PUT THEIR SUV IN A CAR WASH? WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN OAKLAND, CA. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR - NO RAIN AND APPROXIMATELY 60 DEGREES. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE LIKE A GUNSHOT AND OUR PANARAMIC SUNROOF SHATTERED. AT THE TIME, WE HAD A CARGO BOX ON TOP OF THE CAR (ON A FRAME THAT WAS NOT TOUCHING THE SUNROOF) SO IT IS UNLIKELY ANY PROJECTILE COULD HAVE HIT THE CAR. THE CARGO BOX WAS STILL AFFIXED TO THE CAR AND SECURE AFTER THE INCIDENT. IT WAS NOT AN EXTREME TEMPERATURE, NOR WAS THERE ANY EXTREME WEATHER (RAIN, SNOW, HAIL) AT THE TIME. I PURCHASED A MERCEDES GLC 300 2017 IN SEPTEMBER IN DELRAY BEACH AND WHEN I APPROACHED 3500 BREAKS STARTED TO SQUEAL. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER NEW BREAKS. THIS WAS 2 MONTHS AGO AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET NO FIXES AND THEY WEREN'T EVEN AWARE THAT MANY CONSUMERS HAD COMPLAINED PREVIOUSLY. REFER TO 2016 GLC-300 COMPLAINTS ABOUT SCREECHING SERVICE BRAKES AND COPY/PASTE COMPLAINTS HERE. 2017 MODEL HAS THE SAME SCREECHING NOISES AND CAR WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2016. The Valve body control failed. I took the car into the dealership but upon doing some searching this seems to be a common issue amongst owners of this vehicle/make model. The transmission won't go beyond 5th gear (of 9) so it's is dangerous to drive on the interstate. The car doesn't shift into drive, only shifts into N, the reverts automatically to park. It required the engine shutting on/off multiple times and only then does it go into 3rd gear, causing the vehicle to jump due to missing gears. This issue could leave an owner stranded at any time and cause injury due to the limitations of the gears. It was inspected and confirmed behavior by Mercedes in Durham NC. There were no warning lamps, there were no signs of the issue. The technician did plug it in and was able to read the fault codes but it didn't trigger a light. The appeared first about 45 days ago, and the vehicle was taken in to be looked at 7/21/25.

One morning I was driving the GLC-300 about 45 mph, when suddenly the car went from 45mph to 0 in 3 seconds. The car stopped and it would not move forward. The car was towed to the Mercedes Benz dealership and it was discovered that front differential was broken. The car has 55k original miles and it's maintained very well. There was no warming light on the dashboard to indicate this problem. If the car was traveling at speed of 55 or 65 mph, it could have caused a catastrophe. This is very unusual for front differential to break. This needs to be investigated by NHTSA and I'm sure there are other customer that run into this issue. Since the car out of manufacture warranty, Mercedes Benz covered the cost of the part, but I had to pay for the labor which was a lot. The dealership admitted that it was unusual for the front differential to break specially for Mercez Benz car.

VEHICLE KEY-LESS ENTRY LOCKED OUT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WITH KEYS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED. TALKED TO OTHER MERCEDES GLC300 OWNERS AND THEY ARE EXPERIENCING SAME ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED LATE AT NIGHT WITH MY WIFE AND 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN A HIGH CRIME AREA WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN. MERCEDES ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CHARGED US $99.95 TO UNLOCK VEHICLE. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE ACKNOWLEDGED AND ADDRESSED BY MERCEDES IMMEDIATELY.

Vehicle has previous recalls done and still has the same issues with recall. Srs code no air bag will deploy. Dealer ship refused to service vehicle due to miscommunication and I'm driving a defective vehicle without an airbag which could lead to a bad accident waiting to happened. I will like to file a complaint against Mercedes of Richmond for refusing to service my vehicle without a defective air bag and the passenger seat bear latch doesn't retract properly. So I'm currently dealing with 2 huge safety hazard and was denied service due to a miscommunication with Steven Powers (service technician) at Mercedes of Richmond! I will like an investigation done.

No incident my vehicle has a front left malfunction service required light and issues with the passenger seatbelt not proper latching. Upon checking I notice my car had previous recalls done. It seems as if the same issues has come about. NHTSA: 18v177- seat belt not retracting properly. NHTSA: 17V627 is related to the steering column switch replacement of clock spring. So if me or a family member was to get into an accident no airbag will deploy! Huge safety hazard!

The contact stated that the failure began in December 2023, however the warranty repair was completed in September 2024, due to parts being on back order. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure reoccurred. In addition, the contact heard a loud boom that came from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a blocked turbo. On [XXX], I purchased 2 Brand New Tires for my vehicle from (Howie's Tires (No. Miami Fl) This company is a DBA Walter James Investments LLC These tires was to be placed on the rear and moved the rear tire (Mercedes) to the front On [XXX], the passenger front tire (Mercedes) blow out due to a nail I was towed along with my vehicle to Howie's to purchased another tire to replace the passenger front. I have always purchased my tires from Mercedes-Benz (Ft Lauderdale, FL) I was told by a mechanic (July 31, 2024) that I would soon need rear tires due to the tread was very low These tires were not 7 months old. I DONT UNDERSTAND I contacted Renzo at Howie's I went in on August 1, 2024 to let them see this. He said also said the tread was low. Another guy (maybe the manager) came out. He started telling me the those were not their tire also I had them rotated. He wanted me to pay for a another tire and he give me one. I said no to his accusations. Today, August 2, 2024, I had these tire installed. I asked them was their a DOT number that should be on my receipt he said no to both times. I was told there is and I will like you to look into this for me. After noticing my engine light come on, I had my vehicle checked out, the dealer informed (after spending $250.00) that the problem is the crankcase ventilation and it's a common problem. It seems the oh so familiar crankcase ventilation system is not working. This is a common problem with the GLC300 and Mercedes Benz needs to correct it. The engine is not being ventilated properly and the overwhelming smell of gasoline engulfs the interior of the vehicle. This is putting mine and the life of my family at risk, due to a faulty manufacturer issue. Mecedes Benz needs to obviously correct the faulty parts they use as soon as possible, before someone loses their life.

The Positive Crankcase Ventillation harness fails and check engine light goes on. Through my research I found that many C class and GLC class with same engine have had similar issues and there was a recall and covered. My particular VIN was not included in the recall but had this check engine warning sign before 50K miles warranty expires. The light always went away but now it has come back on for the third time and not going away. The cost to replace this simple module is mostly labor at 8 hours is around $2,000. I believe this is an emission component and need to be covered under state and federal emission standards warranty. The initial recall with this issue should be involved with same engine and cover all cars and SUV's with same engine. I do believe this is an Emission control device that is regulated by state and federal standards and should be covered under warranty.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the front windshield was replaced. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times before the failure was corrected. On another occasion while entering the front driver side door, the contact became aware that the extended bar in the seat had protruded through the seat cover. On another occasion, the contact became aware that there was fluid leaking from the vehicle. The contact examined the vehicle and notice that the windshield washer fluid was leaking from the washer fluid reservoir. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was informed that the windshield washer fluid reservoir needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to contact the local dealer. THE LANE KEEPING ASSIST AND/OR LANE BRAKING ASSIST WILL VIOLENTLY MOVE THE VEHICLE UNASSISTED BY DRIVER ONTO ACCESS ROADS THE DRIVER EXPECTS THE VEHICLE TO MAINTAIN ITS POSITION OF THE HIGHWAY AND NOT TO VIOLENTLY TURN ONTO ACCESS ROADS.. IT IS PARTICULARLY UNSAFE ON 75 AND 85 MPH SPEED LIMIT HIGHWAYS. REQUIRES DRIVER TO VIOLENTLY JERK WHEELER BACK TO THE HIGHWAY BEING TRAVELED UPON. CALLS DIRECTLY TO MERCEDES INDICATE NO INTEREST IN THE PROBLEM AND SOFTWARE INVOLVED AND LOCAL DEALERS EITHER WILL NOT SET UP APPOINTMENTS FOR INSPECTION OR/AND INDICATE THEY CANNOT CORRECT THE SOFTWARE OR SENSITIVITY OF DETECTORS ON RIGHT SIDE OF CARE. THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THIS IS ON A 4 LANE HIGH BY STAYING IN THE CENTER PASSING LANE A LANE AWAY FROM EXITS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ GLC43. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT NOTICED A SQUEAKY NOISE AROUND THE DASHBOARD AREA WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF ROCKVILLE CENTRE (650 SUNRISE HWY, ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY 11570 (516) 766-6900) WHERE NO DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND AND THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND A TECHNICIAN WAS SENT TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF ROCKVILLE CENTRE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ADHESIVE WAS PLACED ON THE DOOR. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNAVAILABLE.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED RECURRENT BUT INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION/ACCELERATION OF MY MERCEDES GLC 300 2017. TODAY, AFTER I WENT UP AND THEN DOWNHILL, THE CAR SLOWED DRAMATICALLY ON ITS OWN. WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY. AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE. IN THE MEANTIME, I WAS WORRIED I WOULD BE REAR-ENDED BY TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN THIS SAME SPOT (WHICH I DRIVE NEARLY DAILY) IN THE PAST, SUGGESTING GOING OVER THE HILL HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT (E.G., ONCE, IN THIS SPOT, WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME, THE CAR JERKED SO STRONGLY WHEN IT STARTED TO GO THAT MY DAUGHTER THOUGH WE WERE INDEED REAR ENDED). ALTHOUGH THIS SPOT MOST OFTEN REVEALS THE PROBLEM, THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED ON FLAT AREAS AS WELL. FOR INSTANCE, PULLING OUT OF A SHOPPING CENTER, I SIMILARLY FOUND THE ACCELERATOR NON RESPONSIVE. DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO TENNIS ONE DAY, THE CAR REPEATEDLY JERKED DRAMATICALLY WHEN SHIFTING, PRIMARILY IN 2ND AND 3RD. GENERALLY, THE ISSUES SEEM TO HAPPEN MOST FREQUENTLY IN THESE GEARS. ALTHOUGH THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO CONSISTENTLY TAKE LONGER TO SHIFT IN THESE GEARS, THE MORE DRAMATIC PROBLEMS DO NOT HAPPEN DAILY, MAKING IT HARD TO TROUBLE SHOOT (WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER, THEY RAN THEIR COMPUTER TESTS, AND COULD NOT DETECT ANY PROBLEMS). I AM WORRIED, THOUGH, THAT I WILL EVENTUALLY BE REAR ENDED OR OTHERWISE HAVE THIS PROBLEM LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE SEEN SOME OTHER REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE IN ONLINE FORUMS, AND HOPE NHTSA CAN CHECK INTO OR AT LEAST TRACK IT.

"TAKATA RECALL" MY 2017 MERCEDES GLC 300 SUV CAUGHT RANDOMLY ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ON THE SIDE.THEN WHILE ON THE PHONE DESCRIBING THE SITUATION TO THE SERVICE GUY; I SAW THE FIRE AND SMOKE ENTERED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND I GOT OUT AFTER A LITTLE BIT CAUSE THE CAR HAD NO POWER TO OPEN DOORS OR DO ANYTHING! I THINK THE PROBLEM WAS WITH ELECTRICITY! I WANT THE CAR NO MORE! I WILL RETURN IT BACK!

I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT TOWARD HIGHWAY 287 AT 65M SPEED, THERE WAS NO SNOW NO RAIN NORMAL TRAFFIC NO CARS CLOSE TO ME, ALL THE SUDDEN ESP INDICATOR WENT OFF, ACCIDENT COLLISION PREVENTION INDICATOR WENT OFF ON MY DASHBOARD AND THE VEHICLE SPEED WENT DOWN TO 30M, 20M AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO BRING THE SPEED BACK, THE VEHICLE STOPPED RESPONDING. I PULLED OVER CALLED ROAD ASSISTANCE, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, START AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT 20 - 30MILE, WHEN I ENTERED HIGHWAY 46 ON THE TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RESPONDING AT ALL, I KEPT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, UNTIL THE CAR START TO DRIVE AGAIN UP TO 25M. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WORKSHOP, THEY WAS FAULTS IN THE SENSOR AND GAS PEDAL THEY FIXED.. I TOOK THE VEHICLE AFTER ONE WEEK CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR WENT OFF AGAIN. TOOK IT AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP WORKSHOP. I CONSIDER WHAT HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE IS REAL SAFETY ISSUE WHERE ALL THE SUDDEN YOU CAN'T CONTROL THE SPEED ANYTIME ANYWHERE.
