About MV Agusta Motor
Conte Domenico Agusta founded Meccanica Verghera (MV) Agusta in 1945 to keep the Agusta family aircraft factory employed after WWII restrictions on Italian aircraft production. The first motorcycle, the 98 Tre Velocità, launched in 1946. MV Agusta dominated Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1958 through 1974, winning 75 World Championships with riders including Carlo Ubbiali, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Phil Read, Giacomo Agostini and Mike Hailwood. The brand exited racing in 1976 and motorcycle production in 1980 amid the Italian motorcycle industry's decline; Cagiva acquired the rights in 1991 and revived production with the 1997 F4 750 designed by Massimo Tamburini.
