Car battery dies after the vehicle sits for longer periods (approximately 2 weeks or more?). Roadside assistance has tested battery twice after jumping the vehicle and stated the battery is still healthy. Various Subara owners report similar situations in online forums, and the culprit seems to be a design flaw where the DCM module is trying to connect with the obsolete 3G cellular network, causing a parasitic battery drain.

Battery dies really fast and ended up doing a replacement right after moving from Idaho to utah and losing a bolt and had to use a wrench from my late husbands toolbag in the trunk to keep it on the positive terminal I do believe after just having left the emergency room and was quite ill. The battery acid started to corrode the cables and everything along with it. Including the back seat, that had a seatbelt that got ripped accidentally when removing a babyseat from the car,

Battery has failed twice in a matter of a year. Both batteries were top of the line and no reason can be seen for failure. I see that there are a great deal of the same sort of complaints listed here and Subaru should be well aware of this issue.

Consistent problems with parasitic battery drain. If the car is ever left to sit for more than two weeks, the battery will have died. I have to be careful because the battery does not recoup the energy required to start the vehicle in city driving. The second battery I installed in the car (7/2021) has failed prematurely and again requires replacement.

Battery drainage issue: Battery failed in my 2016 Subaru legacy in 2019, replaced with a new battery and died again in 2020, 2021, and 2022. This should be a recall not a class action lawsuit. Leaving someone stranded is a safety issue. No warning was given when the battery died. It was fine one day and dead the next day. Had to tow the vehicle at my expense to the Subaru dealership and was told that they needed to replace the battery, which I had to pay for and they performed an OBDII reprogramming of the engine control module. The dealership indicated that this should help with the drainage problem but I was not given a guarantee.

There is an active recall for Subaru vehicles. The recall is for emissions number WUB-87 for 2015-2018MY Legacy and Outback 2.5L. My car is a 2016 Subaru Legacy and it has the exact problem listed in the recall, but is not included. The front end exhaust is defective as described in the recall.

On Thursday evening, January 27, 2022, when I was driving slowly in a parking lot preparing to park, my car unexpectedly accelerated even though I had NOT pressed on the gas pedal. (I would describe it as lurching). After it accelerated on its own, I quickly pressed on the brake pedal, and the car came to a stop. My car is available for inspection upon request. Had this happened when a person, car or other object was in front of my car, my car could have hit the person, car, or other object injuring the other person and me and damaging the object. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed. I drove a short distance home that day and have driven the car on a few errands since. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the incident. There were no warning lamps after the incident.

Hello, I'm trying to send this email to make NHTSA that Subaru has been having an issue with the ignition key for years. I purchased my Subaru Legacy around 2015 and just now started getting issues with the ignition not letting me take out my keys after set as "parked". I noticed that I was not the only one with this issue and Subaru should be made responsible for this shifter malfunction and not the customers. It should be a recall since many cars are experiencing the same issue with different models. I have to play around with the shifter in order to release my keys whenever I set it on park. Hope that this message can get routed to the right department and find a solution for this ongoing issue for many customers. Thank you in advance.

I went to the store with an intact and unblemished windshield. After returning to the vehicle, a crack in the passenger side of the windshield appeared with no chip or damage visible. After only a day, this cracked had tripled in length with weekly crackling sounds. This is a known issue with Subarus and the manufacturer is trying to be selective with repairs. My vehicle has the EyeSight system and will cost me $1100.00 to repair because it's $700.00 to calibrate the system after glass repair..

A 6-inch crack suddenly appeared in the lower driver's side area of the windshield starting from the very edge in the black area. It follows the exact pattern of multiple other windshield crack complaints in this model year. The windshield has already been replaced twice before out-of-pocket due to similar cracking.

CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD IN MY DIRECT LINE OF SIGHT, I AM NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE IT. I PURCHASED VEHICLE USED ONLY 3 MONTHS AGO. WHEN I PURCHASED IT THE DEALERSHIP HAD MENTIONED THAT THEY HAD JUST REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. SO THE NEW WINDSHIELD WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD.

WINDSHIELD CRACKED STARTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD (IN THE MIDDLE) AND IT SPREAD WHILE BEING STATIONARY. GOT IT REPLACED BY SUBARU. A MONTH LATER THE NEW WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN THE SAME EXACT PLACE AND SPREAD WHILE STATIONARY. BOTH TIMES IT WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY.

I've own a 2016 Subaru Legacy Limited 3.6, for coming on 2 years. In the last 3 months I've had to replace my battery twice. The last being a red top battery costing $300+ and only lasted 2 days. The first incident that was most disruptive was, driving home in rush hour traffic when I lost all power, radio cut out, all lights on dash go out, my car begins to sputter and there is no power steering. Once traffic rolled to a stop it dies and wouldn't turn back over, couldn't pull my key from the ignition, roll the windows up, and once in park I couldn't change to neutral. It was very dangerous due to traffic, and I was stuck on a bridge that was a main arterial, with no emergency flashers. Had to have the city law enforcement call to get my car removed from the roadway. Had it towed to the dealership I purchased it from. The next day they told me my battery was dead and I needed a new one. Tested my alternator and that test good. Then again it died under the same symptoms as it did the first time. Leaving me stranded on a busy highway, at 10 at night. All of my symptoms were directly related to my a/c being on and sitting too long without driving, at idle or stop and go traffic and progrssively got to being a main battery drain. My key ittermediately wont pull from the ignition, steering wheel wont lock in place. My windows will randomly not roll up, but bounce down and stop halfway and lock temporarily in that position. I believe its all electrical problems or voltage issues. None the less... if there is no way to repair this, than it should be a recall..... because it's a serious problem with no solution and Subaru is fully aware of it.

Replaced battery but still all dash lights come on I lose power and it dies. I can jump start it and it stay but all lights stay on. New starter, new alternator, I just don't know what it is. Only code that comes up is P0420

My 2016 Subaru Legacy 4 -Door Sedan has Power Windows. When my vehicle was under it's Extended Warranty I had an issue with the Passenger Side Window. When trying to roll the window down, it would roll down and then quickly roll back up. Over and over again. I had to wait and possibly even turn off the vehicle to finally get the Passenger Window to close. But needless to say, it made me very nervous. I took my vehicle to the Subaru Dealership in Grapevine, Texas for repair. It was repaired at the time, at a cost of $100.00. But here I am yet again, and the same problem has happened again. And now my Driver's Side Window will not even roll down, at all. I no longer have the Extended Warranty, unfortunately. So, I am truly unsure if I feel comfortable taking it back for repairs. Wondering if this will happen again. And with the Driver's Side Window not being able to roll down at all, this has proved dangerous for me and my Mother. Who also drives my vehicle. It was/is especially quite dangerous going to do Curbside Pickups, Drive Thru for my Prescriptions, or food orders. I am very concerned for mine and my Mother's Safety with both Front Driver's Side and Passenger Side Windows not working properly at all. I have never had a vehicle with this kind of issue before and feel if Subaru is all about Safety then all my Windows should work properly. I am at a real loss here as to what to do, as I cannot afford any repairs due to financial hardships and my poor health. So, it is rarely driven anymore, even though I have paid the loan off and have the Title for the vehicle. I am very perplexed and need help as to what I could or should do, other than report this Safety Issue to NHTSA. Thankfully though, the Rear Windows work properly. I have not discovered any issues with those two windows. No Warning Lights or Alerts have been present either for the front windows. But it is a definite problem and safety issue when the front windows do not work as they should.

My battery keeps dying. I just had to replace it for the second time this year. Used 2 brands, one from the dealership and the other Interstate. I had the alternator and starter checked but those are working. Something keeps killing my battery and would like it fixed. I have missed appointments and had my car towed having to pay over $600 to get it back.

There was a recall for my 2016 Subaru Legacy transmission issue (CVT), I got a letter from Subaru on 9/23/2018 which extended warranty for 2016-2017 Legacy/Outback CVT from 5 years/60000 miles to 10 years/100000 miles, started from 9/30/2019. The transmission of my Subaru started making noise half year ago which was still under warranty, at that time I didn't think it was a big deal and totally forgot the letter from Subaru, however, the noise is aloud and unbearable now, the mileages of my car is about 5000 miles exceeding 100000 miles warranty, which I need to pay $8200 to replace transmission per Subaru client service USA. After browsing online, I have noticed that the issue of CVT on Subaru Legacy is common, in this case, Subaru should replace such defective CVT for free, at least for the part.

I had a transmission failure on my 2016 Subaru Legacy and there were no warning signs before this incident occurred. I was on a road trip driving at highway speeds and suddenly without warning I heard a loud bang. Then the "at oil temp" light came on, then the "check engine light", smelled something burning and also felt some slipping in the transmission. I pulled over as soon as I could. I towed it to the nearest dealer and they diagnosed the problem as being a bad valve body based on the code "P0712: Transmission Temperature Sensor Circuit Low" without test driving the vehicle. The valve body was replaced. Since my car's mileage was outside the extended warranty for this issue, Subaru only contributed half the cost of the repair. After the completion of the repair, the dealer told me they heard loud transmission noises and they recommended that my transmission may have to be replaced I test drove the vehicle with the service manager, except for the noise, the car had no warning lights and the car was shifting smoothly and was reassured that the car would not stall. After leaving the dealership, I drove 25 miles before the car started jerking and violently shaking. Then at a stop light on a highway, the car stalled. When I press the accelerator, the engine would rev but the car would not move. The vehicle was towed home, my car still would not move when I pressed the accelerator and the check engine light came on. I towed it to my local dealer, they checked the vehicle and said the transmission had an internal failure and replaced the transmission. The bad transmission was sent back to Subaru per their policy. Subaru did a goodwill warranty repair that covered a significant portion of the cost. This sudden transmission failure was a huge safety risk to myself and others. I could have rear-ended both times my car stalled.

The contact owned a 2016 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated crashing a small tree causing the contact to reverse the vehicle. When placed in reverse the vehicle accelerated and crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There was damage done to both the tree and other vehicle. The vehicle was towed and deemed total. A police report was filed. The contact had received a bruise on their knee and sought out medical attention. The contact dealer was not made aware of the falure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

The contact had to move the shift lever back and forth to take the key out of the ignition switch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with a faulty shift lever plate that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND SHIFTED INTO PARK AND IGNITION TURNED OFF, THE KEY BECOMES STUCK IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION AND KEY IS NOT ABLE TO BE REMOVED. EXTERIOR LIGHTING AND INTERIOR ELECTRONICS REMAIN ON. SUBARU IS AWARE OF THIS SHIFT PLATE SENSOR MALFUNCTION IS PRESENT IN 2016 LEGACY AND 2017 FORRESTER MODELS, AS FAR AS I KNOW, BUT HAVE NOT RECALLED THEM. IN ORDER TO REMOVE KEY, THE VEHICLE MUST BE TURNED BACK ON AND THE GEAR SHIFT SLAMMED INTO PARK, USUALLY MULTIPLE TIMES, TO ALLOW FOR THE IGNITION TO BE FULLY TURNED OFF AND THE KEY TO BE REMOVED. ONCE IT STARTED, IT WILL NOT QUIT UNTIL THE SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE BACKUP CAM WITH ALSO TURN ON WHILE NOT IN REVERSE, PRESUMABLY RELATED TO THE SHIFT PLATE SENSOR MALFUNCTION.

Steering did not return to neutral position after making a right turn, steering wanted to continue on right turn. I was able to pull it back to straight position with some needed force. I don't believe my wife would be able , after initial surprise, to steer back into lane of traffic. Result could have been an accident. I have not reproduced the problem at dealer or independent service facility or by manufacturer and because of no accident police or insurance co. not called. There were no warning signs. I just recently pudchased this vehicle within past week. I would call your attention to the articles on internet describing the problem and how to repair I don't think I should pay for repair as it is a recurring problem with other cars by same manufacturer. Thank you

I was driving on the interstate going about 75 mph and suddenly my hood popped up and blocked my view. The hood cracked the windshield and was pushed back, in a way that doesn't allow it to close anymore. The hood warning light was not showing and I have driven hours earlier at highway speeds without a problem. The hood jack is snapped off. The problem has not been reproduced or looked at by my insurance, or a service center yet.

THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE WILL NOT DISENGAGE. IT HAPPENED SUDDENLY (UNKNOWN). YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, BUT YOU CAN OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE PASSENGERS COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE DOOR IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE RECENTLY THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR SUBARU.

ON 1-19-2020 I DROVE HOME FROM THE STORE, CAME TO A STOP IN MY PARKING SPOT AND WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AS THOUGH I HAD HIT THE GAS. I QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKES 3 TIMES BUT GOT NO RESPONSE AND HIT MY FENCE BEFORE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP NONE OF MY SAFETY FEATURES (INCLUDING COLLISION AVOIDANCE) KICKED IN AND SUBARU SAID THERE WAS NO RECORD OF ANY MALFUNCTION AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE INCIDENCE. FILED CLAIM WITH INSURANCE COMPANY AND GETTING FRONT DAMAGE REPAIRED, WONDER WHY THE COMPUTER DOES NOT SHOW THERE WAS A COLLISION...

THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY FRONT BUMPER WAS FALLING OFF. THE DEALER SAID A BRACKET HAD BROKEN. SUBARU WOULD NOT REPLACE THE BUMPER UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALER DID REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. NOW FOUR MONTHS LATER, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE FRONT BUMPER IS FALLING OFF. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT BEEN HIT AND HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING.

I been having issues with my brake When I’m driving out of know where my whole brake goes all the way down and it takes a minute to actually brake. As well when that happens my eyesight goes off. This is a big risk I’m taking when im driving. I took my car to the Subaru dealership and they couldn’t find the reason why my car is doing it.

I WAS GOING 40MPH WHEN I HAD TO BREAK FOR A YELLOW LIGHT WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP, AS I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES MY CAR BEGAN TO SKIP AND CONTINUE TO PRESS FORWARD AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL I HIT THE BACK OF SOMEONE'S VEHICLE. THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND I WAS NOT GOING SO FAST THAT I COULDN'T HAVE HAD A SMOOTH STOP.

The contact stated that while pulling into a parking space and pressing the brake pedal the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and continued to drive forward causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a pole. No injuries were reported and no police report was taken. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified. The failure mileage was 28,000.

Sometimes when starting from a stop or slowing down to make a turn the engine revs up like I was pushing the gas pedal. When this happens ( 4 times in the last 6 months) luckily I was covering the break to slow down or going very slow from a stop. Each time I was turning left or right. I was able to push the shifter into neural. After applying the breaks the engine slows down

Car battery has discharged on three occasions within the passed 6 months. There is no warning that the battery is failing, turn car off and go to turn on next day and it won’t start. The battery is one yr old and mechanic gave it passing mark when he checked it. When I researched internet to gather more info I found the class action lawsuit describing my problem on other Subarus and felt it should be documented.

WHILE DRIVING, EXHAUST ODOR DETECTED IN CABIN CAUSING HEADACHES/NAUSEA AND EXHAUST BECAME MUCH LOUDER STARTING AT ROUGHLY 185,000 MILES. DISCOVERED SUBARU SERVICE PROGRAM BULLETIN WUJ-95 WHICH IDENTIFIES CRACKS FORMING IN THE BELLOWS SECTION OF THE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE AND ITS REPLACEMENT WITH AN UPDATED FRONT EXHAUST. PURCHASED AND INSTALLED THE KIT CALLED-OUT IN WUJ-95 MYSELF. UPON REMOVAL OF THE EXHAUST PIPE, I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM VISUALLY THAT CRACKS HAD FORMED IN THE EXACT LOCATION IDENTIFIED IN WUJ-95. Vehicle had significant amount of oil pooled in the battery case holder back approximately Jan 2022 or earlier. Contacted Subaru of Las Vegas and they offered to clean the vehicle believing it was a careless oil change. Next oil change Subaru said I had a minor oil leak. Took it to an outside vendor to have them look at it and they said I didn't have an oil leak. Every oil change after that subaru continued to say I had a leak. But, my oil levels never changed enough to show low oil. Took it to the same vendor again and again they said no oil leak. Took it to another vendor and they changed the gasket cover and leak, but mentioned there was a leak with the cam carrier that needed to be revealed. They recommended taking it to their neighbor vendor that specializes in Subaru and they looked at it and confirmed, but mentioned to contact Subaru and that it should be a covered repair as it is a known issue with Subaru and that they were currently working on one with the same issue. While recently driving it, I noticed what smelled like burning oil. When I looked online I can see numerous years and models of owners reporting the same issue with their Subaru. Contacted my dealer and they said it wasn't covered. Contacted Subaru of America and they are currently investigating it. If your camshaft seal is leaking oil, you need to get it replaced right away. The leak can lead to a fire, and your engine could seize up. It can also damage your timing belt which can cause bent valves, cylinder head damage or camshaft damage. Prior to this, I actually have already repaired the timing belt. I want to ensure that no injury or damage comes to another Subaru vehicle owner having the same issue. I have also just had to repair both axles and my Subaru is a 2016 with 90,000 miles on it.

3.6 LITER 6-CYL ENGINE SURGES AFTER A COLD START. WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED, THE IDLE SPEED IS HIGH. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR, AS THE BRAKES ARE RELEASED AND THE CAR BEGINS TO MOVE, THE IDLE SPEED DROPS. IF THE CAR IS BROUGHT TO A STOP OR A VERY LOW (CREEPING) SPEED, THE IDLE SPEED INCREASES, CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH. FOOT NEVER TOUCHES ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT ALL. THIS BEHAVIOR CAUSES THE CAR TO MOVE UNEXPECTEDLY AFTER IT IS BROUGHT TO A STOP BY THE BRAKES. IT ALSO MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE CAR AT CREEPING SPEED - EASING OFF THE BRAKES, AS THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE, THE IDLE SPEED DROPS, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE CAR. AFTER A SECOND, AS THE CAR COMES TO A STOP, THE ENGINE SPEED KICKS UP AGAIN. THIS MAKES THE CAR LURCH INTO MOTION AGAIN. OPERATOR MUST QUICKLY INCREASE BRAKE PRESSURE, BUT SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ENGINE IDLE SPEED DROPS DUE TO THE INCREASED SPEED. THEREFORE THE CAR SLOWS AGAIN AND THE CYCLE REPEATS. THE DESCRIBED BEHAVIOR HAPPENS EQUALLY IN FORWARD OR REVERSE GEAR. THE DESCRIBED BEHAVIOR IS ONLY AN ISSUE ON A COLD START. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH A WARM ENGINE. I EXPERIENCE THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK LAST FRIDAY (MAY 11TH, 2018) AFTER GETTING THE SECOND REPLACEMENT, I GOT ANOTHER CRACK/CHIP WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I FEAR THAT THIS LATEST CRACK MAY SPREAD AND WILL FORCE ME TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD FOR A THIRD TIME. NOT ONLY IS THE WINDSHIELD RIDICULOUSLY FRAGILE, SINCE I HAVE THE 'EYESIGHT' SAFETY FEATURE, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WITH AN OEM/GENERIC WINDSHIELD. purchased my 2016 legacy in 2022, I was offered the bronze warranty due to milage. My vehicle was bought back due to loud noises coming from the engine. Was told there was a peze recall and it was fixed. Brought it back to the dealership for the same sound and they found nothing wrong. A few weeks later leaving work, I noticed my muffler was hanging. I took it to a local muffler shop where the repaired it and repaired the heat shield which was loose and knocking up against the exhaust. Still taking my vehicle to the dealership for the warranty clear coat/ zetec and was told that I needed two-wheel bearings and that I was over milage, that it wouldn't be covered. I had both wheel bearing replaced and rear brakes within the first year of having the vehicle. Later part of 2024 my dashboard was lighting up, not allowing any of my safety features to work and I have no traction in the snow. I took the vehicle back to the dealership where I was told that it had a bad valve body, That the vehicle was over the milage for the extended warranty repair. I was sold a lemon, but there is nothing I can do about it.

I was driving on highway and engine failed light came on, along with low fuel sign. Engine shut off. Luckily I was able to safely pull over. The Dealer determined that the low fuel sensor failed thus shutoff the engine. Shutting engine off on a highway is dangerous and life threatening event. Need a different strategy to warn the driver with a time to safely pull over. It cost me over $1,500 to get the part repalce.

The contact became aware that while the check engine light remained illuminated the horn failed to function as designed. The contact stated that after the check engine warning light issue was resolved the horn returned to normal functionality. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance; however, the manufacturer informed the contact that the failure was a known issue and advised the contact to stop driving the vehicle until the check engine warning light issue was resolved. The failure mileage was 184,000.

This concern is not related to the VIN number listed. I Have concerns with Aftermarket wheels in general. as the service manager of a shop I am seeing aftermarket wheels that are cracking under normal use due to poor metal quality and design. I have seen dual bolt pattern wheels that crack at the lug nut mounting hole when torquing to the vehicle manufacture spec. I have seen many aftermarket wheels installed with incorrect lug nuts and incorrect or missing hub centric devices. I Believe that the public does not understand the safety concerns of aftermarket wheels.

DROVE ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH IN A SUNNY AFTERNOON ON A 400 MILE TRIP WITH FUEL TANK BETWEEN 1/8 AND 1/4 FULL. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. PRESSED THE GAS TO REV UP THE ENGINE BUT STILL NO POWER MOVING FORWARD. HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED THE CAR. ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PERIOD OF 30 - 40 MINUTES TO NO AVAIL. HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO A SHOP NEAR BY. ONCE UNLOADED (ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER) FROM THE TRUCK, THE TECHNICIAN HOOKED ON INSTRUMENTS TO CHECK. THE ELECTRICALS (ALTERNATOR, BATTERY) WERE FINE. THEN RESTARTING THE ENGINE WORKED. SHORTLY AFTER, THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. NOT CONFIDENT OF CONTINUING THE TRIP, STAYED IN THE TOWN OVERNIGHT. CHECKED THE INTERNET FORUMS THE NEXT DAY AND READ SIMILAR EXPERIENCES BY SOME SUBARU OWNERS AND REALIZED THAT IT COULD BE RELATED TO LOW-FUEL. WENT TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE CLOSE TO 100 MILES TO DESTINATION WITHOUT PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON A MAIN TOWN ROAD. AND WAS REAR ENDED AT UNDER 20 MPH. MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE SEAT BELT KEPT PROPERLY RESTRAINED ME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 SUBARU LEGACY. WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DROVE THROUGH THE DRIVEWAY BARRIERS AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PANEL AND TRUNK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD TOW THE VEHICLE TO A SUBARU DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. *TT

IN LESS THAN 36,000 MILES IT DEVELOPED A GRINDING NOISE THAT CAN BE FELT ABOVE 50 MPH. DEALER FOUND A PROBLEM WITH THE AUTO TRANSMISSION. IT WILL BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. STRANGE, I THOUGHT SUBARU IS KNOWN FOR BETTER TRANSMISSION. IN THE SAME CAR THE CD PLAYER STOPPED WORKING AND MAKING NOISE SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU HEAR WHEN A CD IS BEING EJECTED. DEALER CHANGED IT UNDER WARRANTY. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON DCM SOFTWARE IN THE CAR & I TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THIS RECALL IS NOT LISTED ON WEB. WHY?

WHEN RESUMED CRUISE CONTROL, IT DID NOT. INSTEAD THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND HAD NO DIRECTION. WAS ON INTERSTATE 84WEST IN CT. PUT ON BREAK AND THEN WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE ON SIDE OF ROAD. WENT TO THE DEALER AND TOLD NO ISSUE. ALSO HAVE HAD GEAR SHIFTING PROBLEMS. WAS IN TOUCH LESS CAR WASH WHERE THE CAR IS IN PARK AND WHEN TOLD (FLASHING SIGN) TO MOVE FORWARD THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, SHUT CAR OFF AND THEN WAS ABLE TO PUT IN DRIVE. ON OCCASIONS THE SHIFTING GEAR HAS NOT REMAINED IN PARK AND VEHICLE HAS MOVED FORWARD.

FOLLOWING ARE TWO MAIN ISSUES, CAUSALITY/CORRELATION UNCERTAIN. AFTER THE "SUBARU EYESIGHT" FAILED FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES WHILE UNDERWAY (DASHBOARD CLUSTER LIT UP IN NUMEROUS PLACES, TOO), THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM RESET WHILE DRIVING. THEREAFTER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO "BUCK (E.G. LURCH FORWARD SEVERAL INCHES WITH A LOT OF FORCE)" WHEN THE VEHICLE'S CVT WAS IN "DRIVE" AND I WAS STOPPED WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED AT NORMAL PRESSURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT SIX TIMES IN THE LAST FOUR DAYS, AND I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED. THE "BUCK" IS SO SEVERE THAT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I FELT LIKE I WAS REAR-ENDED. THE MOST RECENT TIME THAT IT OCCURRED, MY BEST FRIEND COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED WHEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AS HE WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE RUNNING VEHICLE, GATHERING THINGS FROM THE FRONT SEAT (E.G. FOOT OR LEG RUN OVER HAD HE BEEN TAKING GROCERIES OUT OF THE BACK SEAT). AT THIS POINT, THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP IS BEING COY ABOUT SITUATION RESOLUTION. WHAT IS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING IS THAT THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO "KILL" ACCELERATION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, AND AN OBJECT FORWARD OF THE CAR IS DETECTED. YET, THE VEHICLE TRIED TO PROCEED FORWARD WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC?
