PASSENGER SIDE BLIS WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, DRIVERS SIDE WORKS FLAWLESSLY. RETURNED TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, UNABLE TO EFFECT REPAIR. HAVE APPEALED TO VOLVO, WAITING COMMUNICATION. DEALER STATES I SHOULD NOT EXPECT THE PASSENGER SIDE BLIS TO WORK THE SAME AS THE DRIVERS SIDE. I SHOULD BE MORE AWARE, AND NOT EXPECT THE PASSENGER SIDE BLIS TO WORK CONSISTENTLY, THAT WOULD BE UNREASONABLE.

IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING A VOLVO, PLEASE CONSIDER OTHERWISE. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING A 2015 XC60 T6 AND HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CITY SAFETY FEATURE ON THE CAR. PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED LETTER SENT TO VOLVO DIRECTLY AFTER GETTING NO RESOLUTION THROUGH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE 'OFFER' WE RECEIVED FROM VOLVO ADDED $50 TO MY PER MONTH PAYMENT AND PUT ME INTO ANOTHER 5-YEAR LOAN, AS IF WE WERE JUST ANOTHER CUSTOMER COMING IN TO TRADE IN A CAR. Vehicle failed to start after short trip (<5 miles) with no electrical power present. Jump started from another car after approximately 1/2 hour. Drove car to home, car stalled in driveway again with no electrical power. Replaced 5 year old battery car started fine then stalled on road during test drive while approaching an intersection and suffered loss of all electrical power including inoperative hazard flashers. Transmission went into park and car could not be moved out of active traffic lane. Car towed to repair shop where cracked fuse at positive battery terminal found (see photos attached). Repair shop contacted a Volvo dealer and was informed they typically see a couple vehicles a week for same issue.

The contact owns a 2015 Volvo XC60. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stopped without driver input. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic repaired the parking brake actuator. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 121,000.

THE 12V ACCESSORY PLUGS (AKA THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER) KEEPS RANDOMLY BLOWING FUSES. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT 12V TO USB PLUGS AND OTHER ACCESSORY PLUGS BUT DOESN'T HELP. TENDS TO BLOW ON STARTUP. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE HAD MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND THOUGHT WAS RESOLVED IN 2015 MY. APPARENTLY NOT AS EVEN PUTTING HIGHER AMPERAGE FUSE DOES NOT HELP. IF SOMETHING OUTSIDE OF THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT IS CAUSING THIS TO BLOW, IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS STARTED A FEW YEARS AGO BUT AFTER REPLACING 10 FUSES, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

THE REMOTE KEYLESS DRIVE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AS DESCRIBED BY VOLVO AND MINE HAS, VERY MUCH, BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS MANY OTHER VOLVO OWNERS. NOTHING ON MY KEY FOB WORKS UNLESS YOU ARE WITHIN 12 INCHES OF THE CAR.IMAM 100% DISABLED WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND MY WIFE HAS TERMINAL BRAIN CANCER. WHEN WE DRIVE TO APPOINTMENTS ETC, DUE TO MY SHORT TERM MEMORY ISSUES, I CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHERE I PARKED MY CAR. ALSO, THE PANIC BUTTON DOESN'NT WORK FOR THE ABOVE REASONS. EVERY TIME I AM OUT, I'M TAKING A CHANCE OF GETTING MUGGED, ROBBED OR CAR JACKED BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY SAFETY FEATURE ON MY VOLVO CAR. THE VOLVO TECHNICAL JOURNAL 27316.7.2, EXPLAINS WHAT'S HAPPENING, BUT VOLVO WILL ONLY ATTEMPT TO FIX IT, IF I PAY FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR. ACCORDING TO VOLVO FORUMS, THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS COMMON AND YOUR AGENCY SHOULD RECALL EVERY VOLVO WITH THIS ISSUE AND HAVE VOLVO REPAIR IT AT NO CHARGE. IF I GET ROBBED, MUGGED OR CARJACKED, DUE TO THE KEY FOB AND PANIC BUTTON NOT WORKING, I WILL BRING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST VOLVO. My engine always continues to break down even after changing engine twice.

Volvo mechanics claim the engine seized due to alternator pulley failure, however, at the time of the event, the engine showed no oil on the dipstick despite having added multiple quarts of oil over the last three months. Volvo has issued an extended warranty letter to customers due to excessive oil consumption, but Volvo failed to provide this letter for this vehicle. I’ve checked Volvo databases for engines matching this extended warranty and confirmed the engine is in fact covered under this extended warranty. Due to Volvo’s failure to communicate this problem, my daughter continued to drive this vehicle until it completely lost power in high speed traffic on I-95 nearly causing an accident and stranding her on the side of the interstate for several hours. Upon arriving at the cite of this incident, I notice there was no low oil warning light illuminated on the dash, so I double checked oil dipstick and added at least two quarts of oil. Unfortunately the engine had already seized at this point and the vehicle was inoperable.

Excessive Oil Consumption! Safety issue with the speed at which the oil is depleted! I just bought this car two weeks ago and I already have had to add a quart of "synthetic" oil TWICE!, in one Weeks time! This is a safety issue. I have driven less than 500 miles each time the car alerted me to needing a quart of oil. This car was serviced by Volvo of Greenville, SC for all of it's maintenance and based on the service records, I felt safe buying this vehicle because Volvo had always serviced it! I was robbed! This engine is a Lemon and I need it replaced!!!

Since buying our xc60 Feb 2022, anytime we have our grandchildren we buckle their high back car seats in the rear seat of our volvo. Every time we install the car seats, the seat belts will not lock after being buckled. The implications of a seat belt failing to lock a car seat down could he catastrophic. It doesn't matter how many times we expand the belt and release it, tap the brake, buckle or unbuckle the belts will not lock. This poses a life threatening danger to children who are supposed to be safely secured in their seats. Coincidentally, the driver belt randomly locks sometimes even choking me if I lean forward quickly to get a better view. This happens without any sudden braking or change of speed. I have not visited a service center regarding the issue yet, I plan to address the issue at the upcoming vehicle maintenance and service appointment. Parents or caregivers need to be aware of this possibly dangerous failure. I check the belt tightness for our grandchildren car seats every time we stop. Until there is a resolution in place, I will attempt to find something that will keep the belt locked for a temporary solution. Please investigate for more possible complaints and issue a warning regarding this issue.

02/15/2025 I received a letter for oil consumption recall that was dated on 02/03/2023. Appointment was made same day I received the letter on 02/15/2023 and appointment couldnt be set sooner then 02/23/2023 which is the date the Oil consumption was done at Volvo of Bellevue. They changed the oil and sealed it and had me drive it 1000 miles, they said I didn't have an oil consumption problem and I disagreed because I told them I have to put in oil all the time. They said it has exceeded the 8yr or 100K miles of the extended warranty of the vehicle which ever comes first. I argued it had less then 100K miles when I got the letter on 02/15/2023 and the appointment couldnt be set til 02/23/2025 and Volvo of Bellevue said not to worry about it and they would take care of the recall. But after they had me pay for the oil change they said it exceeded the 100K miles and 8 yrs age of the vehicle. I argued the letter was sent to me after the vehicle was 8 years old and the avg miles of 12K was over 100K miles and I argued this was a known problem with Volvo but they kept on selling these vehicles knowing these vehicles have oil consumption problems. They refused to fix the car unless I paid them Thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars. I trusted what they told me that there was no oil consumption and in less then 7K miles later my engine smoked from their oil change and there was no oil in the vehicle as the engine had consumed all the oil and my car sat in my driveway for 22 months and I replaced many parts and still car wouldn't run. I took it back to Bellevue Volvo on 07/23/2025 to see what was wrong with the vehicle and they said the pistons were bent.

The contact owned a 2015 Volvo XC60. The contact stated that while driving on a main road at 25 MPH, when a message was displayed on the instrument panel that stated "Engine Performance Degraded" and the vehicle experienced a significant reduction in automotive power, the contact proceeded to pull over and a few moments later smoke was emitted from the front end of the vehicle, the contact immediatley exited the vehicle and shortly afterwards the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was serviced at the dealer prior to the fire. The origin of the fire was unknown. The vehicle was unoccupied during the fire. The location of the fire was the front passenger side of the engine compartment. The fire department arrived to extinguish the fire. A fire department report was filed. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness

Chest clip is magnetized to assist with closing the clip - my clip does not stay latched shut, pops open at a slight push. I have another one of these seats, manufactured at a later date, and the chest clip needs the buttons pushed to open, so I know this is incorrect. Chicco does not feel the need to replace the seat, said they will send me a new retainer clip. If there was an option to attach a video to this complaint, I would.

The contact owns a 2015 Volvo XC60. The contact stated that every three weeks an oil change was performed on the vehicle. The contact stated that low oil level or oil empty messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that the vehicle was consuming 15-quarts of engine oil every 6,000 miles driven. The dealer determined that oil was leaking into the pistons. The dealer stated that the pistons and piston rings needed to be replaced. The contact learned of an extended warranty coverage under NHTSA ID Number: 10234800 (Equipment). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under NHTSA ID Number: 10234800 (Equipment) extended warranty coverage due to the vehicle exceeding the mileage limitations. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

In approximately 2016 we noticed a strong smell of gasoline around our new car. There was a puddle of gasoline under the car in our garage. We had the car towed to the Volvo dealership and they replaced some fuel-line components under the hood. Two days ago we started to notice a strong smell of gasoline in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. I lifted the hood and and removed the engine cover. I noticed the fuel sensor on top of the engine had fuel on it. I went to the Volvo dealer and they would not sell me a new sensor, they no longer sold just the sensor. Now, you have to buy an improved sensor and fuel line combination kit. I had the car towed to a shop as it was not safe to drive with leaking fuel. It would seem to me if Volvo was having issues with the fuel sensor that required them to quit selling the original part and re-engineer the replacement part with a new hose that Volvo is aware of a problem. This is the second gasoline leak that we have had on this vehicle related to these fuel lines and sensors.

My vehicle is having an oil consumption issue. I recently purchased a vehicle and the document stated that it was a oil change completed. Called the dealership to verify that a oil change Was indeed completed. Oil light came on stating that there was no or low oil. Arrive to oil change location and there was no oil reported in vehicle. Oil change completed, and 1600 miles later I have no oil in my vehicle again. I noticed the engine running a little harder than normal, and the car is extremely difficult catching acceleration. I contacted Volvo Cars LLC, and they suggested I bring my vehicle to a dealership to have it evaluated at a cost.

On 9/8/2021, Niello Volvo Sacramento service replaced my fuel pressure sensor and fuel line. On 9/15/2021, my engine caught fire and the car was deemed a total loss by insurance company. I drove from my home in Plumas Lake 95961 to Marysville approximately 10 miles away at 9:50 AM, at approximately 10:00-10:05 as I was nearing the end of my trip, a trouble light came on that said “engine performance decreased” and the picture of a turtle appeared on my dash screen, shortly after that another light appeared that said “battery not charging”, I parked my car in the Save Mart parking lot and exited and noticed some smoke coming out of the hood, it was light at first but increased quickly so I called 911 immediately. As I was on the phone with 911, flames began shooting out from under the hood, so I grabbed my fire extinguisher out of the back of my car and tried to put the fire out, but extinguisher was too small, a man from the grocery store brought out a bigger extinguisher, but fire continued to grow, by now the fire dept. arrived, opened the hood and after about 10 minutes extinguished the fire with a hose. I contacted Niello Volvo but they seemed disinterested in getting involved and after a second call to them, the service manager [XXX] hung up on me. I could have been killed! If my elderly husband or mother had been in the car with me, it would have been difficult to get them out! I want to know what caused the fire! Faulty electrical system, faulty fuel sensor/fuel line which had just been installed 7 days prior? Faulty engine? There are still many 2015 Volvo XC60’s on the road and I fear for anyone driving one if there is a problem in need of recall. PULLING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT ABOUT TWO MILES PER HOUR, THE ENGINE CUT OUT (AS IT NORMALLY DOES FOR START/STOP). HOWEVER, WHEN ENGINE CUT, ALL POWER SYSTEMS TURNED OFF. THE SCREENS WENT BLACK AND NO BUTTONS WERE RESPONSIVE - THE IGNITION BUTTON DID NOT RESTART THE CAR AND THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. POWER LOCKS DID NOT WORK. THREE MINUTES LATER, THE CAR SCREENS TURNED BACK ON AND THE ENGINE RESTARTED. I DO NOT RECALL PUSHING THE START BUTTON BEFORE IT DID THIS, SO PERHAPS THE BUTTON MESSAGE WAS "QUEUED" AND WAITING WHEN POWER RETURNED. THE BATTERY SEEMS TO HAVE ADEQUATE VOLTAGE UNDER LOAD AND THE TERMINALS ARE FASTENED TIGHTLY, SO I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS TO BE A BATTERY-RELATED ISSUE.

SECOND HOW IS POSSIBLE THE AIRBAG BEEN DESIGNED TO AFFECT THE WINDSCREEN BY BREAKING IT IF INFLATED ? IS THAT PART OF THE DESIGN OR THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPENED IN THIS INSTANCE? TOOK CAR THROUGH THE CAR WASH. AS I WAS SLOWLY EXITING TO PARK INTO A SPOT TO VACUUM THE CAR, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO DRIVE UP TO THE SPOT AND STARTED TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR BY ITSELF REVVED UP THE ACCELERATION JUMPED OVER THE CURVE EVEN AS I WAS LITERALLY STANDING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. FINALLY IT DID STOP AND THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO-ONE IN FRONT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER TO CHECK WHETHER THERE HAS BEEN ANY RECALLS AND WAS TOLD THAT NONE HAVE BEEN ISSUED. I NEED TO LEAVE THE CAR FOR THEM TO INSPECT IT WHICH I PLAN TO DO. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE. IT WAS A VERY TERRIFYING MOMENT.

WE HAVE IN AT LEAST 2 OCCASIONS EXPERIENCE THE FEATURE "CITY SAFETY" ON OUR VOLVO XC60 2015 , BRAKING TO A STOP WHILE WE ARE IN TRAFFIC FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE COMPANY AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP CLAIM THIS IS HOW THE FEATURE IS SUPPOSE TO WORK . ACCORDING TO THEM THE SOFTWARE HAS ITS LIMITATIONS AND THESE LIMITATIONS INCLUDE THE CAR STOPING ABRUPTLY AND DANGEROUSLY. THE FEATURE CAN BE TURNED OFF BUT IT WILL RESET ITSELF TO ON EVERY TIME THE CAR IS RESTARTED. THE ADVICE WAS FOR US TO TURN THE FEATURE OFF EVERY TIME WE DRIVE IN THE CITY AND OR THROUGH FOG WITH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF A FEATURE CALLED "CITY SAFE" . WE BELIEVE THAT THE COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO ADMIT THAT THE FIRST GENERATION OF THIS FEATURE IS NOT STREET SAFE . THANK YOU

I WAS DRIVING AND MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS. IT APPEARED AS IF SOMEONE COMPLETED UNPLUGGED MY CAR FROM THE POWER OUTLET. COMPLETELY BLACK SCREEN ON ALL ELECTRONICS AND IF THE DOOR OPENED NO LIGHTS CAME ON. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER MANY TIMES OVER TWO YEARS FOR INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE BLIS. WILL FAIL TO INDICATE VEHICLE IN BLINDSPOT IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. ESCALATED TO VOLVO, THEIR MECHANIC SAYS WORKING AS DESIGNED, REGARDLESS OF FAILURES. WILL ESCALATE HIGHER LEVEL. DRIVERS SIDE BLIS WORKS WITHOUT FAILURE. VOLVO SAYS TRAVELING EAST/WEST IS PROBLEM, DESPITE BEING TOLD FAILURE OCCURS WHILE TRAVELING NORTH/SOUTH.

SINCE PURCHASED, ENGINE DIES, DOES NOT RESPOND TO THROTTLE. TAKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, ESCALATED TO VOLVO. NO CODES, NO TROUBLE FOUND. ON TUESDAY VEHICLE STRANDED IN INTERSECTION, NO POWER. MY WIFE DESPERATELY PUMPED THE ACCELERATOR WITH NO REACTION UNTIL AT LAST THE ENGINE CAME TO LIFE, ALLOWING HER TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION. THIS WAS A NEAR MISS ACCIDENT. THIS IS THE THIRD NEAR MISS. VOLVO FACTORY TECHNICIAN DECLARED NO FAILURE ON THE BASIS OF A TEST DRIVE, AND NO CODES.

THE TINTING ON THE REAR WINDOW IS SO DARK, IT MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE TO RELY ON THE SIDE MIRRORS ONLY TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING BEHIND ME. IT BECOMES EXTREMELY CRITICAL WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP USING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. YOU CAN'T SEE ANY DETAILS AND I HAVE SCRAPED OBJECTS BEHIND THE CAR.

WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I HAD TOLD SACRAMENTO NELLO VOLVO THAT THERE WAS A ISSUE WITH THE HANDLING OF THE CAR. I DID NOT LOOK AT THE ROTORS WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE COUNTRY FIVE TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR SO, I HAVE BEARLY DRIVEN THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED WHEN I USED THE BRAKES IN A HARD STOP AND THEY FAILED TO PREVENT A COLLISION. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET DRIVING NORTH TOWARDS TRAVIS AFB.

I HAVE SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW A SMALL BUMP THAT SCRAPED THE FRONT TIRE, BUT DID NOT EVEN SCRAPE THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR COULD CAUSE THE ENTIRE REAR END SUSPENSION AND STABILIZATION BAR TO HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. ARE THERE STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VOLVO XC60S THAT COULD CASES THIS? THE CAR WASN'T MOVING MORE THAN 10 MPH AS IT WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION FROM A STANDSTILL AT A LIGHT IN A CITY WHEN THE RIGHT TIRE BUMPED SOMETHING IN THE ROAD. IT WAS GOING STRAIGHT.

VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM WEST COUNTY VOLVO IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AS A NEW CAR (FIRST SALE) ON JULY 11, 2015. AT THE TIME OF SALE IT WAS DISCLOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS USED A DEALER DEMONSTRATION MODEL WITH 7,327 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY SOLD. IT WAS DISCLOSED THAT THE DEALER HAD "SWAPPED" WHEEL SETS WITH A NEWER 2016 XC60 THAT HAD JUST ARRIVED ON THE DEALERS LOT. AFTER ACCEPTING DELIVERY AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 30 HIGHWAY MILES TOWARDS KANSAS CITY, THE TPMS MALFUNCTION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND DECLINED TO RE-INSPECT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE ITS SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD ALREADY CLOSED. AFTER ARRIVING IN KANSAS CITY, IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND VOLVO CARS NORTH AMERICA THAT THE TPMS SENSORS INSTALLED ON THE 2016 MODEL YEAR WHEELS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE TPMS MONITORING SYSTEM INSTALLED IN 2015.5 MODEL YEAR XC60'S. ACCORDINGLY, DUE TO THE DEALER MODIFICATION OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD IN A FIRST RETAIL SALE WITHOUT A FUNCTIONING TPMS MONITORING SYSTEM. THE DEALER MAY HAVE FAILED TO EXERCISE REASONABLE CARE BY MODIFYING THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO SALE WITHOUT MAKING A DETERMINATION WHETHER THE SAFETY SYSTEMS WERE COMPATIBLE. THERE IS AN ACCORDION STYLE PIECE ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE SUNROOF THAT EXPANDS WHEN THE SUNROOF IS OPENED AS A VENT. THE LEFT (DRIVER) SIDE ACCORDION PIECE BECAME LOOSE AND FELL ON MY HEAD THREE TIMES. IT WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM TWICE. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME I WAS INFORMED THAT PART HAS FALLEN OFF OF MANY VEHICLES. THE PERSON THAT SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT INFORMED ME SHE WAS GOING TO WATCH THE TECHNICIAN AS THEY REINSTALL THE PART SO SHE CAN REINSTALL OTHERS. A SERVICE REPORT WASN'T MADE BY THE DEALER BECAUSE IT TOOK LESS THAN TWO MINUTES FOR THE PART TO BE REPAIRED. *TR
