I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 BMW 550X M SPORT ON THE OHIO TURNPIKE IN JULY 2014 WHEN TWO BUBBLES STARTED TO FORM ON THE GOODYEAR LS-2 245/40R19 FRONT LEFT TIRE. GIVEN I ONLY HAD 70 MILES TO MY DESTINATION I CONTINUED AT THE 65 MPH. WELL, NEEDLESS TO SAY, AS I EXITED THE TURNPIKE THE FRONT LEFT TIRE FAILED. LOST ALL PRESSURE. THIS WASN'T EVEN THE TIRE I THOUGHT MIGHT FAIL. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE 30 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY ON TWO DANGEROUS TIRES SO I COULD GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO CALL FOR A TOW. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP 70 MILES AWAY. THESE WERE NEWLY REPLACED TIRES WITH ABOUT 5K MILES ON THEM. I'M ATTEMPTING TO GET THE TIRES REPLACED AT NO COST EVEN GIVEN THE UNSAFE TIRE RESULTS BUT IT'S MY ONLY OPTION AT THIS POINT GIVEN MY LOCATION. THE DEALER IS TRYING TO CHARGE FULL PRICE FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRES. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF A SIDEWALL BUBBLE ON MY BMW GOODYEAR EXCELLENCE19" RUN FLAT TIRES 98 ON MY 2011 BMW 550I. IN JANUARY 2013 AT 11,000 MILES MY RIGHT FRONT DEVELOPED A BUBBLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ONLY NOTICED BECAUSE MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ALERT CAME ON AND WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE MY TIRES CHECKED THEY NOTICED THE BUBBLE. NOW AT 14,000 MY LEFT FRONT SIDE TIRE IS ALSO DEVELOPING A SIDEWALL BUBBLE. THE TIRES HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD AND I DO NOT ABUSE MY CAR. I JUST HAD MY 4TH GOODYEAR RUN FLAT TIRE FAILURE. THE FIRST TWO WERE REPLACED BY GOODYEAR AS THEY SAID THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE. LAST MONTH ONE OF THE REPLACED TIRES FAILED AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT. TODAY THE 4TH TIRE FAILED. THE TIRE DEVELOPS A BUBBLE IN THE SIDE WALL THAT IS 5 TO 6 INCHES LONG AND PROTRUDES ABOUT AN INCH AND A HALF. IT AFFECTS THE STEERING AND CAUSES HARSH VIBRATIONS. I JUST SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND SEE A POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT MAY BE STARTED BY BMW OWNERS AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT GOODYEAR IS AWARE OF. A FEW DAYS BACK MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING A SQUEAKY NOISE LIKE ONE OF THE RUBBERS HAVE GONE BAD IN THE STEERING COLUMN. MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 55K MILES ON IT AND IS MAJORLY GARAGE KEPT. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINS OF THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE A NEW BMW 550I WITH SPORT PACKAGE AND 19" WHEELS. THIS CAR IS TRYING TO KILL ME. THE CAR STEERS WHEREVER IT WANTS TO. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER SINCE DAY ONE AND THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM. THEY HAVE CHANGED THE SOFTWARE AND THE STEERING COLUMN TO APPEASE ME, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THIS CAR WILL PULL YOU TOWARD THE GUARD RAIL AND ONLY A FRANTIC, PANIC, SAVE MY LIFE MOVE CAN KEEP THE CAR FROM CRASHING. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE WHEN I DRIVE THIS CAR. I HAVE NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER DRIVEN SUCH A HORRIBLE CAR.MAYBE WHEN I A AM KILLED IN THIS CAR BMW WILL PAY FOR MY FUNERAL. THIS IS THE BIGGEST COVER UP IN THE HISTORY OF CARS. MY 2011 BMW 550I SEDAN HAS HAD STEERING WHEEL GRINDING SENSATIONS AND LOUD NOISES WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS. SOMETIMES THERE IS A "THUD" COMING FROM THE STEERING COMPONENT ALSO. BMW STATES THERE ARE NO FIXES FOR THIS AND THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS INDEED A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL AREA INDEED HAS A PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEALERSHIPS IS STATING IT IS A VALVE BLOCK PROBLEM WHICH HAS A CURRENT BACKORDER OF 2 WEEKS. HOWEVER, PEOPLE WHO HAVE REPLACED THE VALVE BLOCK IS STILL HAVING THE SAME STEERING WHEEL PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLES. The contact owns a 2011 BMW 550I. The contact stated that after having an oil change performed, he noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a stem valve cover failure. The contact was informed that the valve cover needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,500.

FIELDS BMW LAKELAND (4285 LAKELAND PARK DR, LAKELAND, FL 33809) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V248000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

I OWN MY BMW 550I GRAN TURISMO SEDAN 2011 F10(N63). THERE IS A RECALL ON MY EXACT MODEL. NHTSA NUMBER: 18V248000/ ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. I AM HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES THAT THE RECALL SHOWS. I HAVE PROOF OF DOCUMENTS SHOWING MY WATER PUMP FAILING, GETTING SERVICE WATER PUMP AND ALTERNATOR REPAIR. AUGUST 24, 2019 SHOWS SMALL EVAPORATIONS LEAK, CYLINDER MISFIRES AND HAS BAD HEAD GASKET. WATER PUMP FAILURE CAUSED MY ENGINE TO OVER HEAT AND BAD HEAD GASKETS.I ALSO HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM AS OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE TURBO COOLANT HOSES, MY HOSES CRACKED LIKE GLASS, EJECTING COOLANT ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND ALTERNATOR, WHICH CAUSED SMOKE REALLY BAD ALMOST LEADING TO AN CAR CRASH BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE ALTERNATOR WAS BURNING UP. CAR DOES NOT RESPOND TO TIP-IN OF ACCELERATOR FROM STANDSTILL. AS YOU PRESS HARDER TO GET INTENDED ACCELERATION, CAR LURCHES FORWARD DRAMATICALLY AND UNSAFELY. VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SMOOTHLY, ESPECIALLY IN CLOSE, STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERSHIP (THE BMW STORE IN CINCINNATI, OH) ON 9/5/11 AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT BMW IS CURRENTLY ONLY PROVIDING A SOFTWARE PATCH FOR THE 535 MODEL. I WAS ADVISED TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL BMW ISSUES A SOFTWARE PATCH FOR THE 528, BUT THE DEALER WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY UPCOMING FIX. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V746000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

REGARDING: N63 FUEL PUMP FAILURE ON 2011 BMW 550I GT VIN # [XXX] DEAR NHTSA RECENTLY I HAD A SERIOUS ISSUE RELATING TO THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM ON MY 2011 BMW 550I GT. I WAS ACCELERATING ON A BUSY FREEWAY RAMP WITH MY TWO YOUNG SONS ABOARD, AND MY CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THIS PUT US IN A PRECARIOUS SITUATION WHEN AT THE MOMENT I NEEDED BRISK ACCELERATION, MY CAR WAS UNABLE TO ACHIEVE EVEN 40MPH. IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GET THIS ISSUE SERVICED AT BMW OF SAN FRANCISCO SINCE THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER. WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE THE BILL CAME TO A LITTLE OVER $2100 WHICH INCLUDED ABOUT $450 IN DIAGNOSTICS. NOW THAT THE DUST HAS HAD A CHANCE TO SETTLE, I'D LIKE SOME RECOMPENSE ON THE FOLLOWING ISSUES. 'THE HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE IS SAFETY RELATED AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE SAME WARRANTY AS THE LOW-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WHICH CARRIES AN EXTENDED 10-YEAR WARRANTY ON THESE CARS AND, WHICH ALSO HAS A TENDENCY TO FAIL AT INOPPORTUNE MOMENTS 'IN CLOSING, THIS CAR WAS ALWAYS SERVICED AT THE DEALER, AND WENT THROUGH THE CUSTOMER CARE PROGRAM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. I FEEL THAT BMW SHOULD ALSO COVER THESE FUEL PUMPS AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM AND I'M ASKING FOR YOU TO REFUND THE COST OF THIS SERVICE. Vehicle was parked while running errands, returned to leave and it would not start. Went to trunk to check battery connection and found that the positive battery cable had burnt in two where it connects to cable that runs to the engine compartment. Carpet cover and sound deadening coating had burnt and cable fell through trunk floor on top of gas tank. Car was towed and insurance refused to replace what caused fire, only what burnt from source ie. carpet cover and floor but not wiring. BMW dealer reports they don’t know what caused cable to overheat.

FROM READING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS, I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING IT IS THE DRIVER OR POTHOLES AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD. I purchased this car from a used dealer ship, drove it for less than a month. Then it started misfiring. I paid the car off in cash so I decided to change all of the coils and spark plugs so I did that outta my own pocket also. They put an insert inside of my 2nd spark plug so I need up getting it out and it wasn’t even a spark plug to my car. I was driving and it locked up the engine on me. I have a free engine replacement on this car right ? Any recalls that can fix this problem for me

THE DRIVER DOOR DOES NOT SHUT INTERMITTENTLY THE DOOR RELEASE, DOOR UNLOCK/LOCK, DOOR HANDLE DOES NOT RELEASE THE STATE. THE CAR WON'T MOVE BECAUSE THE DOOR IS NOT LOCKED, IT CAN TAKE UPWARDS OF A FEW HOURS OF TINKLING TO GET THIS GOING AGAIN. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MANY TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2014. FIRST, IT WAS UNKNOWN ISSUES THAT RESULTED IN THE INJECTORS, SPARK PLUGS, AND BATTERY BEING REPLACED. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT WENT BACK TO THEM SEVERAL MORE TIMES BEFORE THEY EVENTUALLY BROUGHT AN ENGINEER IN THAT DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN. THIS RESULTED IN A NEW TIMING CHAIN AND ALL PARTS ASSOCIATED AT 60,000 MILES. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD RECALL WORK A COUPLE OF TIMES. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE TURBO COOLANT LINES REPLACED AND WE HAD TO HAVE A NEW WATER PUMP PUT IN AT 80,000 MILES BECAUSE OURS APPARENTLY FELL APART. THE CAR NEEDS A QUART OF OIL EVERY 500-700 MILES (THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE BEGINNING BUT IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE) AND THE NEWEST PROBLEM IS THAT IT THREW A DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION ERROR DRIVING UP A HILL. THIS ERROR IS RELATED TO A COMPLETE LACK OF COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER 3. THE CAR HAS 125,000 MILES. THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN BOUGHT BACK AS A LEMON BUT BMW ALWAYS HAS SOME EXCUSE.

THE 2011 BMW 550I HAD JUST RECENTLY BEEN PARKED AND TURNED OFF. AFTER NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES AFTER IT WAS PARKED, IT BURST INTO FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THEN VERY QUICKLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CAR. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN AN ATTACHED GARAGE THUS NOT ONLY COMPLETELY BURNING THE CAR TO THE GROUND BUT ALSO PARTIALLY BURNING THE HOME DOWN AS WELL. RESULTING IN OVER $250,000 IN DAMAGE. THIS VEHICLE HAD ONE OF THE N63 ENGINES IN IT WHICH BMW HAD THREE VOLUNTEER RECALLS TO "CORRECT" THE FUEL INJECTOR ISSUE. 5 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FIRE, A CERTIFIED BMW DEALERSHIP EXECUTED THE THIRD ATTEMPT AT THIS RECALL. THIS BMW WAS ALSO UNDER A FULL COVERAGE MAINTENANCE WARRANTY, THUS IT HAD ONLY BEEN TO CERTIFIED BMW SERVICE CENTERS. DURING THE LAST RECALL UNDER CAMPAIGN 0013480200 SIB 11 16 14 IN CONJUNCTION WITH SIB 11 06 14 AND 61 30 14, THE OIL LIFE MILEAGE WAS REDUCED FROM 15,000 MILES TO 10,000 MILES WITH THE BMW SERVICE CENTER EXPLAINING THAT WAS PART OF THE CAMPAIGN BMW NA REQUESTED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLES MORE FREQUENTLY. N 63 ENGINE FAILURE: THIS ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS PART OF THE BANG SETTLEMENT. I GOT A REPLACEMENT ENGINE FOR WHICH I SPENT ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE VALUE OF THE CAR. SO CALLED NEW ENGINE CONTINUES TO CONSUME OIL. BASICALLY BMW REPLACED THE ENGINE THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE KN OWN IS DEFECTIVE. A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED ON THIS ENGINE AND THIS CAR LING TIME AGO. BMW IS GETTING AWAY KNOWINGLY REPLACING DEFECTIVE E ENGINE WITH DEFECTIVE ONES.

THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS. THE LATEST ONE WAS CAMPAIGN NO. 18V-248. BMW HAS YET TO DO ANYTHING FOR MY VEHICLE, EVEN AFTER IT BURNT ITSELF TO THE GROUND AND A PORTION OF MY HOME. THEY DID NOT ADD ANY EXPLANATION OR ATTEMPT TO INVESTIGATE THIS SITUATION. IT IS STILL UNDEFINED HOW THIS VEHICLE LIT ITSELF ON FIRE AS IT WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF SITTING IN MY GARAGE, AFTER JUST BEING DRIVEN 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRE STARTED.

I AM CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE AND THE LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER/SERVICE CENTER, I BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN NEGLIGENT WITH THEIR ACTIONS TO MULTIPLE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE OCCURRED, INCLUDING THE REPAIR AND INSPECTION PERTAINING TO A RECALL OF THE N63 ENGINE VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES IN THE PAST, INCLUDING SEVERAL "DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTIONS" FOR WHICH I BELIEVE HAVE THE DATES AND SERVICE RECORDS THEY RELATE FUEL INJECTORS, BATTERY, PUMPS, ECT.. SINCE JANUARY 2015 I HAVE CONTACTED THE SERVICE CENTER, AUTOGERMANA BMW OF PUERTO RICO, TO REQUEST AN INSPECTION AND REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO RECURRENT ISSUES AND CONCERNS, THE REPRESENTATIVE INITIALLY TOLD ME THAT THE DEALER HAD RECEIVED NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE "RECALL" OR SERVICE BULLETIN "B001314". IN MARCH THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AGAIN AND THE "RECALL" WAS INCLUDED IN THE SERVICE ORDER BUT THEY ALLEGED THAT THEY DID'T HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE AND THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT ME AS SOON AS THEY BECAME AVAILABLE. THE REPRESENTATIVE EVEN RECOMMENDED AGAINST EXTENDING THE VEHICLE WARRANTY FOR REPAIRS UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND/OR INSPECTED AS IT RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS NOW PAST THE 50K MILE WARRANTY AND THE ISSUES HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED, AND AGAIN IT IS AT THEIR SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE OF A NEW "DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION". THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD AGAIN INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE IF THE MALFUNCTION HAD ANY RELATION TO THE PREVIOUS ISSUES AND /OR THE RECALL, IF IT HAS NO RELATION THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED WITHOUT THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE SYSTEMATIC NEGLIGENCE OR QUITE POSSIBLY INTENTIONAL IRRESPONSIBILITY. AT THIS POINT LEGAL ACTION IS THE NEXT LOGICAL STEP. I APPEAL TO THE NHTSA FOR RESPONSIBLE ASSISTANCE WITH THESE SERVICE ISSUES AND A RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEMS.

I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MAY 6, 2015 WITH ABOUT 53K MILES ON IT. DROVE IT FOR ONLY ABOUT 45 DAYS AND WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION AND OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY AND HAD THE CAR JUMPED BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK. THE CARE ENGINE WAS TOTALLY DEAD, NO SOUND NO ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE ENGINE LIGHT THAT POPPED ON BEFORE IT STOPPED. I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM GWC AT THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR SO INFORMED THEM. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A PLACE (LMC AUTO IN NORCROSS GEORGIA) THAT GWC WAS WILLING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. LMC SAID THE ENGINE WAS LOCKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. GWC REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE OF THE EXPENSE AND INSTEAD HAD LMC AUTO REPAIR THE ENGINE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, LMC IS STILL REPAIRING THE ENGINE ALMOST 5MONTHS LATER. I HAD CALLED GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF CONSUMER PROTECTION, [XXX], ETC.. TRYING TO GET HELP WITH GETTING THE CAR FIXED. WHEN I TALKED TO BMW OF NORTH AMERICA THEY SAID THEY WARRANTY IS UP AT 50K MILES SO THEY CANNOT COMMIT TO DO ANYTHING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, MY WIFE DROVE OUR 2011 BMW 535I TO WORK AND THE FUEL GAUGE WAS READING HALF TANK. IT'S ONLY APPROX. 20 MILES TO WORK ROUND TRIP TO OUR HOUSE BUT WHEN SHE CAME BACK HOME THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ALMOST EMPTY AND FLASHING WARNING LIGHT FUEL REFILL IS SHOWING. I DROVE THE CAR FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS AND I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR SEEMED TO BE STAYING ALL THE TIME AT HALF TANK READING. I DROVE IT THIS MORNING TO OUR FAMILY PHYSICIAN AND TO THE MALL AND I STILL NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR IS NOT MOVING AND WAS READING HALF TANK. WHEN I WENT TO THE LOCAL GROCERY STORE TO BUY BOTTLED WATER, I DECIDED TO LEAVE THE CAR IDLE AND THE ENGINE ON. WHEN I DROVE IT AGAIN, THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE MOVED SLOWLY BUT STEADILY FROM HALF TANK READING TO ALMOST 1/4 TANK. Vehicle displays Transmission Malfunction & DSC and xDrive malfunction, this vehicle is available upon request for inspection. Currently been to two dealerships and all I got from the first dealership is to replace transmission at 59k mile. I purchased a used transmission same problem exist in the replacement transmission. As I was driving on highway, the transmission began displaying message above and caused the vehicle suddenly slow down without warning lights causing me to avoid an accident by pulling over to avoid being rear ended. The problem has been reproduced by dealer: tech and service advisors manager( authorized to drive) and he charge me for a tow even after I mention to him I have AAA if he needs it. Service manager stated that it may need the mechatronics unit which $4k for part but they’re unsure because they didn’t take it apart but it’s a known issue. They mention that it’s a known problem for the TCM (mechatronic valve throttle body control module to go bad). Manufacturer has not inspected vehicle. So currently it’s at BMW of Owings Mills get a second opinion.

I started my car to drive to an appointment and noticed that the car was jerking/bucking as I pulled out of my driveway onto the main road. I was unable to accelerate appropriately for oncoming traffic behind me because the car was jerking violently and it was a bit scary since this had not happened before. This continued for several days, primarily when I would attempt to drive the car in the morning. On one occasion the drive train malfunction light illuminated as I was making my way to an appointment at the Veterans Administration and I had to gingerly turn the car around and head back home. Someone could have ran into me because the car didn't have much power. What followed next was the inability to get my car to move when it was placed in reverse. I took the car to the dealership and was told that the car's transmission needs to be replaced ($11,000) because the car is trying to drive in reverse and first gear at the same time. What?!! In over 20 years of servicing BMW's, they have never seen a situation like this. I don't believe I should bear the cost for this when I bought a pretty expensive car in good faith, which has only 80,000 miles.

I HAVE PROOF OF DOCUMENTS SHOWING MY WATER PUMP FAILING, GETTING SERVICE WATER PUMP AND ALTERNATOR REPAIR. AUGUST 24, 2019 SHOWS SMALL EVAPORATIONS LEAK, CYLINDER MISFIRES AND HAS BAD HEAD GASKET. MY 2011 BMW 550I HAS THRICE HAD THIS WEIRD RESPONSE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. AFTER DRIVING FOR 30M-1H SUDDENLY GOT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS BEFORE I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING (STIFF LIKE A DEAD BODY) AND BRAKES FOLLOWING WHICH THE CAR STALLED. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THIS WAS A BAD BATTERY WHICH DID NOT MAKE SENSE BUT THE CAR WAS RUNNING THEREAFTER SO I TOOK IT HOME. THE SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED - I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR A FEW MINUTES LATER AND TOOK THE RISK OF DRIVING HOME. THE DEALERSHIP SAID SINCE THE CAR WAS RUNNING THEY COULD NOT RUN ANY DIAGNOSIS. THEREAFTER THE CAR RAN FINE FOR 3 WEEKS AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I COULD RESTART IT BUT THE CAR WOULD ONLY MOVE A FEW FEET BEFORE STALLING. AFTER TOWING IT TO THE DEALER THEY TELL ME THAT THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BOTH ARE BAD. I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT BUT THERE SHOULD NEVER BE A TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL ON STEERING AND BRAKES. THAT TO ME IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND BMW NEEDS TO FIX IT BUT THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. WHILE DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES WITH SEAT WARMERS ON MY HUSBAND (DRIVER) TURNED IT OFF. WE WERE TRAVELLING ON SUBURBAN ROADS AROUND 40 MPH. THEN AT A STOP LIGHT HE NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. WE CONTINUED DRIVING WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THEN I NOTICED THE SMELL A FEW SECONDS LATER, SO I OPENED A WINDOW EXPECTING TO FIND SMELL A FIRE NEARBY OR HEAR SIRENS. AT THAT POINT WE SAW A PLOOM OF SMOKE COME FROM UNDER HIS SEAT TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE OPEN WINDOW. HE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND TURNED EVERYTHING OFF. THE SMOKE TOOK SOME TIME TO CLEAR BUT DID STOP. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER WE DROVE 1 MILE TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP. WE WERE TOLD ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, AND WOULD COST $1,700 TO FIX. I DECLINED TO PAY $1,700 TO FIX AND REQUESTED THEY DISCONNECT SEAT HEATER. BMW PERSONNEL INFORMED ME IT COULD NOT DISCONNECT POWER TO SEAT HEATER WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE ENTIRE AC/HEAT SYSTEM. THIS IS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE, NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. FOR A SEAT HEATER TO CAUSE SMOKE IT CAUSED A FIRE AND THIS IS A DEFECT. THE CAR WILL CATCH ON FIRE IF THE SEAT WARMER IS ACTIVATED. I ASKED DEALERSHIP WHAT IF I LOAN MY CAR TO SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT THE DEFECT, THEY SUGGESTED PUTTING TAPE OVER THE BUTTON. I BROUGHT THESE ISSUES TO CRITZ BMW DEALERSHIP AND ALSO CONTACTED BMWUSA CUSTOMER CARE BUT THEY SIMPLY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE AFTER MANY VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 45 DAYS OF WARRANTY LEFT ON THIS VEHICLE SO BMWUA IS GIVING ME A RUN AROUND AND EACH TIME SUPPORTING AND BACKING THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL MY WARRANTY EXPIRES. BMWUSA AND THE CRIZTE BMW DEALERSHIP BASICALLY DID NOT HONOR THEIR ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE WARRANTY CONTRACT TO FIX THE ISSUES THAT ARE STILL EXISTS ON THIS BMW. I TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO CRITZE BMW DEALERSHIP FOR MORE THAN FIVE TIMES AND EACH TIME THEY KEPT IT FOR 4 DAYS AND NOW FOR 21 DAYS AND THEY MIGHT KEEP IT FOR ANOTHER 14 DAYS TO FIX THE ONGOING ISSUE BUT THE RESULTS ARE FAILING AND THE ISSUE IS UNRESOLVED THE VEHICLE WENT FOR REPAIRS THIS YEAR FOR MORE THAN 40 DAYS. I WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND SHIFTED INTO 3RD GEAR. THE CAR BEGAN TO BUCK VIOLENTLY. I PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH TO STOP THE BUCKING. I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS NON-RESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE THEN INDICATED THAT IT HAD A DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND DRIVE 0.5 MILES TO MY DESTINATION. WHILE PARKED, THE PARKING BRAKE ALSO MALFUNCTIONED AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT OFF. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DESIGN DEFICIENCY WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR HAD TO DO WITH A BROKEN PLASTIC PART ON THE WATER CHANNEL THAT LEADS AROUND THE TRUNK. THE PLASTIC COVER IS SUPPOSED TO SNAP INTO A GROMMET THAT IS IN A HOLE, THUS SEALING THE HOLE FROM WATER. IN MY SITUATION, THE GROMMET WAS MISSING. GIVEN THE DESIGN OF THE PLASTIC PART, THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITHOUT REMOVING THE PLASTIC PART. THE HOLE THAT THE PLASTIC PIECE SNAPS INTO LEADS DIRECTLY INTO THE TRUNK. IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUNK ARE SENSITIVE ELECTRONIC MODULES THAT CONTROL THE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND THE PARKING BRAKE. THERE IS NO DRAIN IN THE TRUNK THAT WOULD ALLOW WATER TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT DURING A RAIN STORM. AS A RESULT OF THE DESIGN, I GOT WATER IN THE TRUNK, WHICH RUINED THESE TWO MODULES, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE BECOMING DISABLED WHILE DRIVING. MY 2011 BMW 550I X GRAN TURISMO WAS PURCHASED IN 3/11. IN 10/11 I HAD THE TIRES CHECKED AND TOPPED OFF WITH NITROGEN. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 10,500 MILES. ON SATURDAY, 3/17/12 THE IPM SYSTEM SAID THE TIRES HAD LOW PRESSURE. ALL TIRES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, DROP IT OFF AND, WITH A LOAN CAR, DID SOME RUNNING. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS DOWN TO THE CORDS ON THE UPPER INSIDE SIDEWALL. IN ADDITION, THE LEFT REAR WAS ALMOST DOWN TO THE CORDS ON THE SAME PLACE ON THE TIRE. THE FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT WERE NOT AS BAD BUT SHOWED WEAR AT THE SAME SPOTS ON THE TIRES AS THE REAR TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO REPLACE ALL TIRES. AT THAT TIME, I CHOSE TO JUST REPLACE THE REAR. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY A THE CAR BEING BADLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THEREFORE, I HAD MY 2011 BMW 550I X GT GIVEN AN ALIGNMENT. WHEN I LOOKED CLOSELY AT THE TIRE THAT WAS SHOWING THE CORDS I COULD SEE THAT THE TREAD WAS SEPARATING FROM THE BODY OF THE TIRE. IF THAT TIRE OR ANY OF THE OTHERS WOULD HAVE HAD THE CORD SEPARATE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. THE ALIGNMENT WAS OK, ONLY THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE OUT BY 0.01 DEGREE. I CALLED GOODYEAR AND I TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPEN. WHEN I TOLD THEM THE TREAD WAS TRYING TO SEPARATE THE AGENT PUT ME ON HOLD, CAME BACK, TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A LOCAL TIRE COMPANY AND LET THEIR REPRESENTATIVE LOOK AT THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE LOOKED AT, THE REP CALL GOODYEAR, CAME BACK AND TOLD ME GOODYEAR WOULD BE REPLACING THE FRONT TIRES. GOODYEAR WOULD ALSO SEND ME A REBATE FOR THE BACK TIRES, NOTHING ELSE. I WONDER IF THIS IS PART OF THE SAME PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH BMW 5 SERIES AND GOODYEAR RUNFLATS. LASTLY, I STILL HAVE THE TIRE WITH THE CORDS SHOWING AND THE TREAD SEPARATING. THERE ARE TWO MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH MY 2011 528I AUGUST10 BUILD. THE FIRST IS THE PULLING TO THE RIGHT THAT THE CAR HAS HAD SINCE DAY ONE. I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY WERE COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS TO THE PROBLEM. AFTER SOME PERSISTENCE THEY DECIDED TO CHECK THE CAR OUT. THE STRUTS WERE ROTATED AND SOFTWARE UPDATED AND NOW "DRIVES STRAIGHT". THE CAR DRIVES STRAIGHT FOR MAYBE 25 FEET BEFORE THE CAR STARTS TUGGING HARD RIGHT EVERYTIME. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO AND IT IS ALL "WITHIN TOLERANCE". THIS IS A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE SERIOUSLY ADDRESSED. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE INITIAL LAG IN ACCELERATION WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN AT A DEAD STOP OR CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, YOU HAVE TO FLOOR THE CAR TO FINALLY GET IT TO DECIDE WHICH GEAR TO START IN. AND OF COURSE, YOU WILL BE SUED FOR NOT KEEPING YOUR DISTANCE. THIS CAN EASILY CAUSE SOME SERIOUS INJURIES. 3. VEHICLE WOBBLES AS IF THE TIRES WERE NOT BALANCED. THERE ARE CLEARLY UNKNOWN DEFECTS THAT CAN NOT BE LOCATED. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL BMW DEALER, THEY KEEP ASCRIBING IT TO "NORMAL" CHARACTERISTICS AND THEY KEEP INFORMING ME THAT BMWS ARE BUILT THAT WAY, THEY ARE NOW SPORTIER. HOWEVER, TO ANY NEW OWNER, IT IS NOW DEADLIER. THE LOCAL BMW DEALER ALSO STATE UNLESS THEY VEHICLE DOESN'T INFORM THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I BOUGHT A 2011 BMW 535I ON NOVEMBER 30, 2010. ON DECEMBER 4, 2010, I EXPERIENCED CAR TROUBLE. THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION, AND REDUCE POWER WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CAR SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY, BUT NOT BEFORE SHAKING VERY SHARPLY. THIS ALL OCCURRED IN ABOUT 15 SECONDS, WHILE I WAS DRIVING. BMW RESPONSE WAS "SAFE MODE". ON DECEMBER 9, 2010 THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED AGAIN FOR THE SAME ISSUES, THEY REPLACED A FUEL SENSOR. ON DECEMBER 30, 2010, THE CAR WAS BEING SERVICED AGAIN, THEY REPLACED THE HIGH AND LOW FUEL PUMPS. AFTER BEING DRIVEN HOME BY THE SERVICE MANGER OF BMW JUST TO INSURE THAT THE CAR WAS FIXED, IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN ON HIM ON DECEMBER 31, 2010. THEY REPLACED THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AGAIN, THE SECOND TIME IN TWO DAYS. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME ON JANUARY 13, 2011. ON MARCH 17, 2010 THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED AGAIN FOR LONG CRANK TIME, AND FOR NOT START SOMETIMES AT ALL. I AM ALSO A PREVIOUS OWNER OF RECALLED 335, WHICH I TRADED FOR THIS VEHICLE. OUT OF THE FIVE TIMES THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICE, TWO OF THOSE TIMES IT BROKE DOWN WHILE IN TRAFFIC COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, ONCE WHILE ON A FREEWAY. THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS. I WOULD ASK THAT THE NHTSA TAKE THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY. THERE ARE MANY MORE COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS ON BIMMERFEST.COM, AND ALSO THE INTERNET. BMW WILL NOT RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I BOUGHT A 2011 BMW 535I 3 WEEKS AGO. UPON DRIVING ON LOCAL STREETS, THE CAR STOPPED ABRUPTLY FROM 30MPH TO 0MPH. MY CAR HAS UNDER 2000 MILES ON IT. STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, WITH "FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION", AND "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" ON THE ONBOARD DASH. I HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I WAS ALSO CARRYING A 5 GALLON SQUARE CONTAINER OF WATER THAT WAS CAPPED AND SEALED IN THE TRUNK. DURING THE ABRUPT STOP OF THE CAR, ABOUT 1/2 A GALLON OF WATER SPILLED INTO THE TRUNK. AFTER BEING TOWED TO SHELLY BMW AND TALKING TO THEM THE NEXT DAY, THEY SAID IT WAS MY FAULT AND THAT THE WATER SHORTED OUT THE COMPONENTS IN THE TRUNK. #1. THE WATER SPILLED INTO THE TRUNK AFTER THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPPED. #2. I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY THE CARS BEHIND ME WHEN THE CAR WENT FROM 30MPH TO 0MPH. THE CAR DID NOT STALL AND SLOWLY COME TO A STOP....IT BASICALLY LOCKED UP AND STOPPED....CAUSING ME TO HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. SHELLY BMW IS NOW TELLING ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY $2600 TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE MODULES THAT ARE DAMAGED. #3. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON JULY 26, 2010. #4. IRVINE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS DISPATCHED TO THE SITE TO MAKE SURE THAT I WAS NOT HIT FROM OTHER CARS AS I SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION FOR 1.5 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK. I AM CONSIDERING SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE. THIS ISSUE IS ALSO FILED WITH BMW NORTH AMERICA IN WHICH I AM STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO CONTACT ME. *TR
