In august of 2003. My chrysler concorde failed due to a faulty tensioner, 66,000 miles. This caused engine damage(valves bent, etc..) engine rebuilt cost $2500. On september 6th 2004 82,000 miles, i was driving my car to get food. Approximately 1 mile or less from my home, my car died. Oil was sludgy when viewing it through oil entrance on engine. Awaiting repair estimates from repair shop.*ak

The contact stated while driving at a speeds of 45 mph, engine coolant, water and steam poured from under the dashboard and into the interior cabin of the vehicle without warning. Both the driver and passenger suffered first degree burns to both feet. This was the first occurrence of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for a diagnosis of the failure. Car is continuing to stall. Dealer cannot find what is causing. Car stalled while making a left turn and was consequently hit by another car from behind. No major damage done, as we were only traveling about 5 mph. Car sputters a lot, stalls a lot, and is not safe for me and my 3 small children to drive. Tried to trade it in because i do not feel safe anymore after the wreck, but will cause me a huge financial loss to do this. Please look into this problem. This is complaint number 2 with nhtsa. I see the pacificas were just recalled because of this exact same problem... When will you look into the concords? *jb

2004 concorde engine caught on fire. *ts prior to the fire smoke started coming through the air vents and the vehicle started losing power. The entire vehicle was destroyed. *nm

While traveling at 30 mph vehicle lost power, causing it to strike a curb. Vehicle was towed, and the engine was found to be defective.*ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. While driving 35 mph, the instrument panel lights illuminated then he heard noises coming from the engine. In addition, there was smoke coming from the engine then the vehicle shut off. The contact stated that he noticed an oil leak underneath the vehicle. The mechanic stated that he was unable to start the vehicle due to a complete engine failure. As of january 3, 2008, the mechanic had not repaired the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 108,000.

I was just driving one night home from my mothers house and the engine just blew with no warning. I have changed my oil every 3,000-3,500 miles and after reading the hundreds of complaints about the 2.7 chrysler engine i am quite displeased that a company can get away with this kind of neglect. *tr

On july 11, 2005 the newburyport fire department was called to put out an engine fire in my 2000 chrysler cirrus. An insurance adjuster from rand adjustments came out to see the car at volpone towing also in newburyport mass. The adjuster determined that the car was a total loss. I am now without any transportation.

I would like to file a complaint with daimler-chrysler regarding the longevity of their automobiles. Thiswas the second vehicle that failed between 100,000 and 110,000 with proper maintenance and upkeep. I had problems with the headlights, door seals, the automatic seats and now the engine. I took the car to chrysler dealer, and the service department manager told me i had a bad rod and the engine was virtually shot and wasn't worth fixing. He said he was ashamed to say the 2.7 engines were junk. I have researched my car and found out that there were a lot of others with the same, if not more problems than what i had, which indicated that daimler-chrysler should be ashamed of for not caring or making good for their mistakes instead of ignoring them! This car has had many other problems, including electrical problems with door locks, the power seats, and the seals from around the doors. I made the mistake of not researching the vehicle before i bought it. I will never do that again! I just wish that daimler-chrysler would care more about their cars, and the consumers that were buying them, and then maybe they would have more sales since their customer service stinks. I really didn't want to say a true statement about service for daimler-chrysler problems. I will never buy a daimler-chrysler product again, as per my own experiences with problems and the responses from the company. If i have no satisfaction from this email, which i know will not happen!, i will make sure that others know what i have been through!, especially will all the veterans that i know and have contacts with since september 11, 2001.*ak

My husband, 2 children, ages 4 and 6, and myself were driving on the interstate when our 1996 chrysler concorde suddenly shifted into neutral and started rolling backward down a hill. We hadn't had any problems up to this point. Our car only has 40,000 original miles on it. A transmission repair firm told us it was our transmission and gave us a diagnostic code of "p1787". We can't afford to fix right now. We have tried it on our residential street and it goes for a few yards and transmission slips. I have had a lot of medical problems this year and not having safe transportation has made it impossible to get medical care, not to mention the fact that my children could have been hurt by this vehicle malfunctioning. *tr

The car i was driving was a 1999 chrysler concord that had been in excellent driving up until the time of the incident. Just three days earlier the automobile was serviced at a chrysler dealership service center for an oil and oil filter change. I inquired at the pick up event if the brakes were okay and it was reported to me that the were fine and that everything with this automobile was fine. On sunday, september 3, 2006, i started this automobile in my garage to go to church. After putting my seat belt on, i usually inch myself out of my garage very, very slowly. However, this time after adjusting the transmission lever from park to drive my automobile took off so fast i could not control it at all. I hit the breaks as hard as i could but my automobile would not slow down at all. Not only that, i could control the steering of my automobile at all. I live near the pacific ocean and there is a drainage ditch right across the street where i live that connects with the ocean. There is a chain-linked wire fence that separates the street from the drainage ditch. My automobile raced out of my garage, down my driveway, went across the street and hit the curb across the street where it force my automobile to swerve across the adjoining street to break through the chain-linked fence where it went down a concrete embankment for an approximate 20-foot drop until it completely stopped in the water. The car then began filling up with water until it became completely submerged. Fortunately, a neighbor happened to be looking out of his second story window of his house when this incident occurred and immediately called 911. Emergency personnel arrived promptly to save my life by pulling me out of the window of my automobile. I was taken by paramedic personal by ambulance to the emergency room of a nearby hospital were it was determined i had not sustained any immediate injuries at all. The automobile was later determined to be a totaled wreck. *nm

The consumer the placed vehicle in park, took keys out and shut off ignition, the vehicle then slipped out of park, rolled backwards and hit parked vehicle on other side. Consumer suffered a slight injury on skin because her legs dangled slightly out. *ak *jb

The chrysler concrode transmission line failed. *bf the consumer had an accident with the vehicle which was considered totaled by the insurance company, however the consumer had the vehicle repaired and 1 year later the transmission cooling lines failed, the consumer was told by the manufacturer the service contract was cancelled because the vehicle was totaled. *jb

The consumer stated that her husband put their vehicle in park and got out of the vehicle. When he got out of the vehicle and closed the door, his vehicle began to roll forward. She stated he tried to catch it, but could not. He stated that the vehicle rolled down an embankment and damaged the front and side of their vehicle. No one else was involved. She states that they received a recall notice about 2 wks ago, but forgot exactly what it was for. She stated that her husband could have been seriously hurt if he had stood in front of the vehicle. *jb

The transmission seized while going 35 mph and if i didn't have on my seat belt, i would have been thrown through the windshield. It was if someone threw my car into park while going 35 mph.

Vehicle was left in park with the motor idling. It rolled up the owner's driverway and crashed into the garage, then shifted into reverse. Owner managed to turn off the ignition and stop the vehicle, brakes would not stop it. Dealer said that owner must not have placed the transmission completely into park. Could find nothing wrong. *ak

When using 1996 chrysler concorde experienced the car's floor shift lever jumped from park to drive while in a driveway. This was previously recalled (c45) and repaired on 10/11/2004. There was damage to a garage door. Per the insurance agent i notified chrysler, the original dealership, and this site. Chrysler provided a reference number and i have scheduled for a reinspection/reinstallation 1/18/2006. *nm

Car spins as a result of intermittant transmission downshifts when right turn signal is used causing the transmission to downshift violently. The transmission has been replaced twice. Two dealers unable to find any electrical problem. When traveling at 65 mph on wet pavement and the transmission downshifts the car wants to spin in a clockwise direction. *ak

Dt: deer ran in front of car and the steering wheel would not turn the vehicle. She lost control of vehicle and it hit some trees. Upon impact, the front drivers or passenger air bags did not deploy. It happened without warning. Dealer/ manufacturer have not been contacted yet.*ak

Problems in steering ,noise and loose control when i driving , i send my car numerou time to dealer without resolve this problem.

When traveling 60 mph in wet weather condition the steering wheel locked up, resulting in the vehicle pulling to the right, causing the consumer to hit the guardrail in which there was no deployment of neither driver's nor passenger's side air bags. Vehicle was total loss. Please provide any further details. *ak

Chrysler concorde lxi, model year 2000, mileage 71930: leaving driveway, turning right, upon trying to center steering wheel after turn, it would not turn back to the left and i ran off the road to the right. Minor damage. Backed out and only could steer left with extreme effort. Managed to get car back into the driveway. Call mechanic, told me rack and pinion had failed - common problem on 2000 concorde. If i had been traveling at highway speeds, this would have been really bad. *ak

Steering rack failed and needs to be replaced.

My wife was driving our 1995 chrysler concorde when she lost total steering control while making a left hand turn causing car to go over curb damaging a sign at the warren public library and significant damage to the car. Upon inspection, it has been found that the tie rod linkage into the rack and pinion had broken off. *tr

Tl* - the contact called regarding a 1995 chrysler concorde. The contact stated that exiting a ramp at 10-15 mph the tie rod bolts fell off the steering system. The contact stated he had no steering and the wheels would not turn. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. He had a small bolt and put it in the steering system and was able to drive the vehicle home at 3 mph. The contact took the vehicle to the chrysler dealer and was told the vehicle needed a new rack and pinion. The contact call the chrysler corporate office ,and was told there was a recall on the steering. Power steering pump pulley (plastic) broke and caused the car to shut down. Driver could not steer and suffered injuries while trying to turn the wheel.

Abs, brake failure when applied vehicle skided at speed 35mph lost control, abs brakes lockup impact 6:00 position. Tt

I read on the internet under 2000 chrysler concorde that there is a master brake issue if you don't have abs brakes. It affects the stopping and the brakes constantly rub. That is the main concern i have with my car.

I put car in reverse in parking lot and it lunged forward at full throttle with tires smoking, sideswipping one vehicle and pushed parked 2nd vehicle 30 ft into parking lot isle. My foot never left the brake pedal (used to shift), and brakes were useless in trying to stop the car. After hitting the second car (totalling it) got car stopped by slamming gear shift lever into park. This is the 3rd instance of this happening in the milwaukee area that is known to us. Substancial injuries were incurred in second instance where car when through garage door with severe facial injuries. The 3rd car went through a window of a business. All 3 were 1999 chrysler products. Chrysler refuses to accept any blame for the accident and sent us a form letter saying the car was okay when it left the factory. Our car was a chrysler concorde lxi, the 2nd a chrysler lhs, and the 3rd a dodge neon.*ak

When applying brakes in an emergency situation, the vehicle did not stop quickly, causing the driver to rear end a suv. This happened on normal road surface, no inclement weather. Vehicle does not have anti-lock brake system. Owner not sure about the damages at this time. Please give any further details. *ak

In a "panic stop " situation the abs controller modulated and reduced very significantly the braking effort when the driver slammed on the brakes on dry pavement. While braking the driver also maneuvered into the k rail to reduce speed and almost avoided a collision. The air bags did not deploy and were not needed as the final crash was at low speed.

Consumer stated the brake pads fell off vehicle and caused the consumer to crash. The dealer was notified. *ak the brake failure was traced to the inner pads on each of the front wheels. Each brake pad that fell off was located near where each of the front wheels would be while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The manufacturer denied the claim for reimbursement. The contact stated that there was a recall in 1999 and that the recall work was done. The recall was for the fuel injection system.

Dt: there was a leak in the fuel rail,, and while driving there was a fire in the engine compartment. There was a recall on this issue. The consumer was never notified about the recall. The recall information was found through a chrysler website, and consumer put in the last eight digits of the vin and they were included in the recall. The consumer's son contacted chrysler thirty times , and they advised the consumer to take the car to a dealer for repairs. The dealer confirmed there was fuel rail leak, and a new fuel rail would have to be installed, along with other wiring that was melted as a result. The consumer's son had an issue with the chrysler dealership, and wished to take vehicle away from chrysler dealership because he felt they were doing nothing about the problem. Chrysler agreed to fix the recall but first they wanted to investigate further. There was minor damage as the consumer smelled something odd and pulled over. Upon further investigation, the hood was raised. And a small fire came from the fuel rail. A bystander put out the fire with his hand, and the consumer drove the vehicle home about a mile down the road. *ak

While driving 25 mph, the vehicle caught on fire. Recall 98v184000 was done on fuel o rings, took to dealer and dealer indicated fire was caused by oil on motor.*ak consumer states she had been smelling gas for about 7-8 days prior to the fire, consumer feels that the fire started around the fuel rail o-ring. *jb

Braking system malfunctioned due to brake lining being 'too thin" which caused brakes to become spongy, and caused extended stopping distance which may have resulted in a crash. Also a fire started in the motor. Please provide further information.

After having recall 98v130000 done for fuel seal, the problem reoccurred. Vehicle was occupied at the time of the incident.*ak the morning of the incident, consumer started the vehicle smelled of gasoline. Consumer drove the vehicle approx. 15 miles. Consumer opened the hood and gasoline was coming out of the motor. Consumer went to turn the key to turn on the defroster when the vehicle burst into flames. The brakes were also inoperative. *jg

Sudden acceleration. Vehicle took off at a high rate of speed without warning. The brake was pressed to the floor, the car thrown into park, the ignition was turned off before the car would stop. Poles were knocked down, a retaining wall, trees, and a transformer damaged. *nm

Dt: the contact stated while vehicle was parked it caught on fire. The fire started in the battery. There was damage to the right front fender. There were no prior problems with the vehicle. Police and fire department reports were taken. The vehicle has not been inspected by the service dealer. Additionally, there has been no contact with the manufacturer of the battery.*ak

As i was driving my air ag was released. In doing so my arm was hurt due to the air being developed. Prior to that happening anytime i would park my car and set the alarm it wouldn't lock or unlock then it would reset my radio and light would start to flicker. *tr

Takata recall car caught fire in the front of the car (defrost vents) i went inside the store while my car was parked on the street when i came bac my car was smoking. Fire department said it was caused by fan motor fail.

While replacing the battery the jack broke and vehicle fell to the ground and consumer was under the vehicle. Consumer sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. Consumer will contact the manufacturer in the near future. *ak

While parked, consumer smelled smoke and noticed that smoke was coming from under the hood. Consumer put fire out, and vehicle restarted 15 minutes later. Consumer then unpluged battery.*ak consumer stated the starter was replaced.*et

There was no instruction to check/inspect battery cables that were "buried" behind r/f wheel fender well and below engine. When inspected, they were so corroded, that both had to be replaced at significant labor expense which would have been negated by normal preventive maintenance instruction procedures. *nm

Vehicle was parked when consumer noticed flames from under the hood, he put out fire. 15 minutes later, it was burning again, this time battery was disconnected. Dealer stated fire began in starter. *ak

While driving at 30 to 35 mph smelled fire and saw smoke coming from under the hood due to the engine catching on fire. Consumer pulled to the side. Fire department put the fire out. Vehicle was totaled. *ak

While backing out of the driveway vehicle caught on fire in the engine compartmnet. Consumer learned later that there was a recall pertaining to this issue, but she was never notified. Vehicle was considered a total loss. *ak
