On august 1 2020, my 2 adult children and another passenger was in a crash and my truck flipped several times from front to back and all passengers were badly injured and not one of the air bags were deployed. The truck was hit from the passenger side causing the truck to air lift and flip.

On may 14, 2006, my dodge caravan was totalled after a collision cause by a negligence driver. During the rollover, the driver's air bag did not deploy and the dodge grand caravan rolled over too easily. Also, the driver's seat belt did not disengaged when needed "push" on. *nm

I was rear ended at a red light and my dash board sustained multiple fractures. Part of the dash board fractured and became airborne in the vehicle. It was the size of an iphone. There was also another part of the dashboard where a hole is present and the dash board is sunken in. Very disappointed with the quality and safety issues. Photos were forwarded to my attorney. *tr

I have a 2002 dodge pickup with a cracked dash. I had to replace the heater core and when the dash was removed i noticed cracks all in the dash. While removing the dash i and my helper both sustained severe cuts from very sharp edges of the broken dash. This prompted me to file this complaint because of the nature and shape of the cracks can cause severe injury or even death to occupants, especially children,in the event of a crash as well as cuts and abrasions when simply entering and exiting the vehicle. *tr

The dash on my 2002 dodge ram 1500 has cracked in multiple places due to defective plastics. I understand i am not the only person with this issue. Where this has become a safety issue is the sharpness of the parts. My son and i have both sliced our hands open when cleaning the dash, even trying to be careful. Our company, american family insurance, has 2 claims on the same vehicle for 2 different people who got their foot caught in between the running board and the car. One person's ankle got broken in 3 different places, and the other person tore ligaments.*ak

While driving at 72 mph with out any warning, the consumer heard a little noise coming from the front and suddenly lost the control of the vehicle, as a result the vehicle rolled over twice. The vehicle landed upside down and the airbag did not deploy. The driver sustained minor neck and back injuries. The all family was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital. The 2003 dodge ram was struck on the front right side near the front tire by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The ram was spun around and struck the other vehicle again on the back right side on the truck bed. The airbags in the ram did not deploy causing serious injuries to both the driver and the passenger. The truck had been struck so hard that the axle and tire were broken completely off of the vehicle, but the airbags did not deploy. The airbags had never been deployed before and her vehicle had never been in a crash before. *tr

While traveling at 50 the right front tire slightly touched the gravel on an uneven parkway, and caused the driver to lose control of vehicle, the vehicle flipped and crashed. On 9/1/2003 at approximately 8:40 p.m. My son was driving our 2001 dodge ram pick-up on us 23 south between omer, michigan and standish, michigan. I was in the passenger seat in the front and my husband was in the back seat. All of a sudden there was a loud screeching noise and we went into the oncoming lane of northbound traffic. My son kept saying he could not control the truck. He was able to get the truck back in the southbound lanes and the truck kept fishtailing. All of a sudden the truck took a very hard right and we went through the ditch with coattails into the farm field and rolled the truck. When we stopped moving and we were all out of the truck some people who stopped, we asked them what happened and they said all they saw was headlights flying in the air and it looked like we lost a tire. With the police there he asked my son if he had fallen asleep my son said no that all of a sudden he could not control the truck. The police then thought we had a flat tire but upon looking for the tire in the farm field it was discovered that the back drivers side wheel had broke at the axle right at the spindle. All lug nuts and brake pads were still intact inside of the wheel and it was not flat. Also where the axle broke off the wheel the metal was shining and crackling. None of us, luckily, were seriously injured scraps, bruises, and a lot of pulled muscles. None of us went to the hospital. We do felt lucky that it happened where it did since 10 more minutes up the road we would have been on i-75 south in holiday traffic and things i am sure would have been different. We do feel and with anyone we have talked with that this was a manufacturer defect of poor metal not being heat treated correctly. *la

While reverse parking at approximately 10 mph; the accelerator stuck to bottom of vehicle floor (sending vehicle to speed exceeding 70 mph) and it accelerated out of control. In an attempt to stop and avoid hitting pedestrians and building behind me; i hit the brakes, but the brakes would not stop the vehicle. I was forced to place the vehicle in park shift position while hitting brake, in order to stop vehicle. At first the shift control stopped in 'd' and the vehicle shot forward, but i kept hitting the brakes. And eventually; i managed to get it in the park position and it stopped the vehicle. *tr

This is an update to the complaint i filed due the incident with my stepfather. That complaint is #10246879 wherein i reported a failure in the ignition/parking system that caused his 2003 this is an update to complaint odi 10246879 wherein i reported the failure of the ignition / parking system of his 2003 dodge ram 1500 truck. The failure caused his truck to roll over him, catching him up under the truck and dragging him over a curb where it jumped the neighbors fence before coming to a stop. At first it was thought he would survive his injuries but he died from complications of his injuries after a long and painful hospitalization. I am updating that complaint to advise of his death. This appears to be a not so unusual occurrence with this vehicle and i note that the 2002 models were recalled for a similar problem. *tr

This complaint is being filed on behalf of the 2003 dodge ram pickup truck 1500 mr. Jp waters by his stepson. Mr. Waters was severely injured on october 22, 2008 after placing the aforesaid vehicle in park on an incline, turning off the engine, and exiting the truck. As he went around to the passenger side to retrieve some items the truck rolled, knocking him down and dragging him across a curb into a neighbors yard. He sustained a fractured hip/ numerous lacerations/ contusions all over his body and consequently suffered heart failure and had to be air lifted to a heart hospital. His recall is that he definitely placed the truck in park position (it is an automatic)/ turned off the engine and noticed no movement of the vehicle when he exited--it was parked on a steep incline. The rear movement of the vehicle did not occur until he had come around to the passenger side of the vehicle. *tr

The consumer stated while the truck was sitting in idle, the vehicle began to move backwards. The consumer attempted to stop the vehicle with no success. The vehicle rolled down a hill and into a tree. The consumer received a recall notice after he experienced the failure with the transmission. *jb

The dashboard get destroy to easly and the debries flies to the face making drive insecure because the plastic parts were hiting the face. The powers train gets very easly damage by rocks and debris on the street making it to vulnerable to get destroy (and that happen to me) . The charging regulator gets brokes for nothing anytime and you need to be changing the computer or ading an external one and solder it to the principal cables that goes to the alternator, and relays.

I am the original owner of a 2001 dodge quad cab dashboard is almost completely gone from cracking. Had a piece come off as i was driving, and hit me in the eye while windows were open..called d/c once, no response..called today, and they said they would look at it for me..report from local tv showed this to be a major problem. On a 30 mph frontal center crash air bags did not deploy causing bodly injury,chrysler investigation #8126432 the fond open squib system at airbag and stated that the air bag failure was do to wires that ripped loose when steering column collapsed. *ak

This vehicle had last been started and driven 7 hrs prior and exploded in the driveway, caught the house on fire and nearly killed my son who was near the inside wall of the house. The engine blew and then the front tires. Three explosions in all before the fire department was able to stop the fire. Luckily they were only a mile away. This was an older but well running vehicle.

Blower motor wiring harness failed. It burns up in steering column. It in turn causes blower motor to not work . When you are driving windshield fogs up you can not get defrost to come on. Http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/c11.htm

My wiper motors work but stop half way in the window and i replaced them with new ones and it does the same thing ? This is a big issue up here in wny as alot of dodge rams you see on the road have their wipers stuck half way reducing their site to drive!

During the first year we bought the truck it had to be towed in to the shop because it would lose power and just "turn off" and could not be started about 6 times. After the truck was returned to us after one of these episodes, we had hooked up our camper to leave for the weekend, went into the house for some more stuff, and noticed that the gas tank had fallen off the truck and was sitting in the driveway under the truck. So much for camping that weekend and another tow to the dealer. We also purchased an extended "bumper-to-bumper 100,000 mile, 5 year warranty that covered rust. I brought the truck into the dealer to show them the rust around the rear wheel wells and lower body in the 4th year into the warranty and they said they made a record of it and would take care of it. They put if off with promises after numerous calls and trips to the dealer until the dealership sold to another party and the warranty had expired (years, not miles). The body is rotten, the passenger front window was never fixed, and it still occasionally stalls. I'm told that the stalling and body problems are engineering defects, and internet searches confirm this. *tr

Started up and the abs dash indicator light stayed on. I took the truck to my mechanics and noticed the speedometer wasn't working. My mechanics found the problem with the abs right away. They said that a fire had occurred and the entire truck could have caught fire. The abs controller was burnt and the wires leading from it. *tr

The rear right tire and assembly broke off my 2002 dodge ram while my wife and children were on the freeway. This caused the vehicle to rollover. Apparently a problem with the axle. I understand there has been a recall for a weak weld on the rear axle bracket. I never got such recall on my vehicle.*ak

Dt: contact stated while driving on the highway and hauling an 8 foot by 16 foot trailer it caused the vehicle sway to the left then to the right. The vehicle and the trailer shook. The contact pressed on the clutch and it caused the tires to lose traction. The vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic, and another vehicle hit the contact's vehicle on the passenger's side. I own a 2003 dodge ram 1500 2w/d. I have been in discusions with engineers from dodge who told me the leaf spring vendor produced the wrong spring rate but dodge put the springs on anyway. The dealer calls the bounce at 65 mph "normal". I informed them that the 2 times i have taken my son on the freeway in the truck he has thrown up... They said "normal"! Know this; the engineers know what the company did, the company knows, i know, and now you know. Go and complain to your dealer, it's the only way this will go to a service bulletin. On another note, there is a service bulletin to get your rotors replaced for free, they grab incorrectly and cause the shuttering that warps rotors.*ak

Upper ball joints on 1-yr old truck are junk. "sealed" just means they have to be replaced more often, another scam to charge extra dollars. My wife's liberty has failing ball joints also, though hers has an "unissued recall." i know a few other ram owners with same problem. I had a 1972 chevy p/u with almost 200,000 miles before needing ball joints, why? Because i could grease them!! *la

While traveling approximately 45 mph right rear tire came off, and left rear of vehicle collapsed. Rear of vehicle started sliding along the ground when it hit a median and was stopped. Driver suffered neck injury. Dealership examined vehicle, and determined the cause as "customer neglect." *note: on november 25, left rear tire had a blowout because of a road hazard. But, lugs: nuts were stripped, and tire had to be removed professionally. Please provide any additional information / documentation. *ak

The steering is very loose, when going over a bump the vehicle is pulled into another direction and you temporarily lose control of the vehicle. The 4x4 was not operating properly, so the transfer case was replaced. Upon replacing transfer case the rear differential locked up and the rear wheels won't move. This seems to be a very common issue with this vehicle. All of these issues are common among dodge ram 1500s of this year( 2003) these issues should be recalled!

While drive at the posted speed limit, the drivers side front wheel separated from the vehicle. I lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed the center line, crossed over the on coming lane, hit a mailbox, went airborne, crossed a driveway, hit a tree, rolled, hit another smaller tree and came to rest on the drivers side door facing the opposite way i was originally traveling. At the time the hub assembly separated from the vehicle, i was traveling downhill. My daughter was able to crawl out of the vehicle while i had to be cut out using the jaws of life. I was transported to a local trauma one hospital via life air medical rescue. My daughter was transported by ground. She had five chipped teeth while i sustained a tbi and broken knee cap. The vehicle was a total lost but there was no loss of life. *tr

I had a 2002 dodge ram 1500. While driving at approximately 40 mph i heard a low humming noise. Suddenly the truck veered to the left. I was now in incoming traffic and narrowly missed one car. I tried to get the truck back to the right. The steering wheel had a lot of play in it. The truck fishtailed back to the right only to veer again to the left. I had no control of the vehicle. I was hit by a car, ran up a lawn, hit a tree and flipped the truck. Both myself and the driver of the car suffered minimal physical injuries. Both vehicles were totaled. It is my understanding that there is a class-action lawsuit against daimler chrysler involving this same problem with the dodge durangos. I believe that my vehicle had the same problem. *nm

Dt: 2001 dodge ram 1500 extended cab pick up truck. Consumer's vehicle was involved in a head on collision while driving 45 mph. This happened about 1 month ago. Driver of other vehicle lost control of vehicle at 60 mph on a wet surface. Upon impact, the air bags deployed and pushed the brakes down and at the time of impact, the consumer felt something hit him in the chest. Did not know what hit him, but once the consumer looked he discovered that the steering column bracket sheared off during the impact ,and the steering wheel went under the air bag hitting the consumer's lower right rib cage. The insurance inspector did not really pay much attention to the steering wheel bracket that sheared off during the crash. The consumer has photos of the crash, and a police report was taken. *ak *nm when the air bag deployed the consumers upper bridge in his mouth became loose and also the consumer experienced bruises on his upper chest. My vehicle was in park and turned off and i got out to walk around and my 3 yr old grabbed shifter and it when into neutral and her father put it in park but got hit but door in process has leg swelling and i ran around and got hit by back of truck and dislocated shoulder but continued to run to drivers door and got it open and jumped in side while truck is rolling backwards down an incline at 15 mph head for a wall that drops 25 feet her father throwing it into park did not stop it so once i was in i steered it the other way away from cliff and hit brakes and finally got it stopped and now at hospital with dislocated shoulder we had a family member die on the count of dodges defective parts this is ridiculous!!!!! This needs fixed i know of bunches of accidents that are involved because of dodge and there parking safety it's not supposed to go into ear unless brakes are pushed in!!!!!!!! I'm beyond pissed!!!!! Because of there laziness and cheap junk that they won't fix!!!! *js

Driving down the road my truck hit a pothole not big at all and jumped in the other lane and i ended up in someone's front yard. *nm

My husbands 6 month old dodge ram 1500 2002 tire came off while driving and caused a terrible accident. I was behind him in my car and had to pull him out of the truck. The aluminum spindal broke in half. Whcih many mechanics have looked at it and stated that this is what caused this truck to wreck. The airbags defaulted his body impression was in the steering wheel. The front left tire came completely detached from vechile.

Air bags did not deploy in two separate crashes one being head on at 35mph over $6000. In damage to truck 2 nd time same truck after being rolled because steering box gave out again 2nd time for that too. Brake failure on 2002 dodge ram with 13,000 miles due to loose brake line.

My girlfriend used the brakes and the abs system would allow her to slow down and regain control cause it kept kicking the pedal back with no braking control whatsoever. She hit a guard rail and as the air bag deployed a piece of metal inside the steering column caused approx a 1 1/2 inch tear in the side of the air bag causing to not inflate and causing damage to her neck severally to the point where she needs surgery now to have cervical vertebrae fused together and extreme shoulder pain and unsure of the cause for that now. If this air bag would not have tore and worked properly she would have a soar face right now and not needing surgery. Yes we fully intend to start making inquiries to lawyers starting 3/2/2015 and find a remedy because with all the air bag problems dodge has had this should have never happened. *tr

While driving 35 mph consumer had to make an emergency stop. Consumer slammed on the brake pedal and vehicle did not stop. It hit the passenger's side of another vehicle. Vehicle continued to roll after impact with the driver's foot still on the brake pedal. The passenger in the other vehicle died in the crash. The cause of the brake failure was not determined, but it was suspected that the antilock braking system was the cause of the crash. *ak

Brake rotors warped for the 3rd time in 13k miles.....very dangerous because there were no puddles or hard braking involed as the dealer trys to pin the blame on driving habbits and weather....what happens when im towing????*ak

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at various speeds, the ABS warning light illuminated and the vehicle seized. The contact managed to coast the vehicle to the shoulder of the road and place the vehicle in park. The contact exit the vehicle to inspect the engine and without warning when the front hood was open 4-foot flames shoot out from the hood. The contact sustained burns to the right hand. No medical attention was sought. The contact ran to the rear of the vehicle open the trunk and poured water that he had in a bucket on the flames. No police report was made. The fire department was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. No dealer was contacted nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. Damages were to the wire harness, ABS module, and connecting rod. The failure mileage was approximate 220,000.

While driving approximately 45mph, had an accident by rear ending vehicle in front. Abs braking system had locked up. This caused the vehicle to skid into the vehicle in front. Air bags failed to deploy upon impact. Front end of vehicle was destroyed. The contact owned a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while exiting a parking lot and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake pedal floored, causing the contact to roll to a stop on the side of the road. The ABS and Brake Warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to drive at 2 MPH to their home. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed that the brake line had blown and replaced it where it had failed. Approximately 6 months later, the ABS and brake warning lights illuminated again. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed no leaks. When restarting the vehicle, the warning lights were no longer illuminated. While driving at an unknown speed, the ABS and brake lights illuminated again. The vehicle was taken to Meineke Car Care Center to a certified mechanic. The following morning, the lights were not illuminated. The vehicle was returned to Meineke Car Care Center, who stated that it may have been a computer glitch causing the lights to illuminate, then turn off when the vehicle was restarted. The contact had the brakes replaced as routine maintenance; however, after doing so, while driving in the rain at approximately 25 mph and attempting to apply the brakes, the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to rear-end the vehicle in front. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did not sustain injuries or require medical attention. The contact assumed the other driver had injuries, but could not confirm. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive at a slow speed to their home. The ABS and Brake lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to Meineke Car Care Center, where it was diagnosed that the other brake line had blown. The front end and brake line, which had blown was repaired. After the vehicle had been repaired, when coming to a stoplight, the failure occurred again, causing the vehicle to crash a second time. There were no injuries, air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact drove the vehicle to Meineke Car Care Center, who was not able to duplicate the failure. The damage was repaired; however, no failure was found with the brakes. After the second incident, while coming to a red light and applying the brakes, the vehicle continued to roll forward. The contact had to apply excessive pressure to the brakes, and the engine began to rev up. The contact had to immediately turn off the vehicle to come to a stop. The vehicle was returned to Meineke Car Care Center; however, the failure could not be duplicated. After the incident, the contact had the rotors' brake pads for the front brakes; however, while driving 60 MPH, the ABS and Brake lights illuminated. The contact pulled over at the next exit and inspected the vehicle, and found no issues, after restarting the lights were no longer illuminated. A certified mechanic inspected and informed the contact that there may have been an issue with the computer, causing the lights to illuminate. The contact noticed that when applying the brakes, the back wheel would sound as if it were locking, and when driving, during the winter, at approximately 10-15 MPH, the failure occurred again, causing them to rear-end another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that a previous back injury had been irritated, but no medical attention was needed. The vehicle was totaled. The contact learned of NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V185000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), which made mention of the experienced failure however, they were unsure if their VIN had previously been included. and filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure mileage was unknown.

When in panic stop brake pedal is hard , but brakes do not apply. Almost feels like sliding on ice, also had this happen on 91 dakota. *nm

Dt: on august 30, 2005 the caller's husband was involved in an accident while traveling 25 mph. Upon impact, the airbags did not deploy. The caller's vehicle hit a school bus. There was no indication that the air bag would not deploy. Caller's husband was injured. A police report was taken. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. Caller said a week before the wreck she had the vehicle at the dealer for brakes, she said the brakes locked and the tires made a screeching sound. She did not know if the brakes and the accident were connected.*ak the consumer stated there was another accident prior in which the air bags did not deploy. *jb

The factory undercoating was put so heavy and sloppy that when the engine exhaust system heats up the undercoating drips on the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe "flashing" causing hazardous fumes to enter the cab of the vehicle thru the air condition ducts. I requested a "material safety data sheet" for the applied undercoating from the dealership but haven't received anything to date. The fumes entering the truck are suspected carcinogens and could have long term affects.

My dash on my 2002 dodge ram has been falling apart and dropping into my vents. It is so bad i had to put carpet over it. Now i'm having heater repairs done on it. I called dodge and they won't do a thang about it. I have kids and both of them have cut themselves on the sharp pieces on the dash. I had to take one to the dr. Tl* the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram model r35. The contact was driving 5 mph when smoke emitted inside of the vehicle and flames were visible from the hood. The failure caused the contact to drive into a ditch but there was no crash. The doors failed to open during the failure so the contact escaped by punching and shattering the windshield. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed that the power disruption caught fire. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure and the current mileages were 50,000.

Dt: the contact stated after the vehicle was parked for eleven hours he turned the key in the ignition and heard a loud backfire noise coming from the engine. The passenger compartment filled with smoke , and he exited the vehicle. The parking attendant extinguished the fire and there was minimal fire damage. Eleven days later the vehicle was towed to the insurance company's salvage lot. Upon inspection the insurance company determined it was a mechanical problem. The vehicle was towed to a dodge dealership, and although the dealership stated the vehicle needed to be taken apart to correctly diagnose it, the dealership claimed that the intake manifold exploded. I was driving on the highway at about 55 miles an hour when the engine blew causing me to almost get hit in traffic. The engine blew, however there is a tsb in regards to the oil pressure stating that is not an issue. The only way to correct this problem is to replace the engine. There is numerous complaints on the web stating the same results as mine. Dodge states that i caused this problem. *tr

1.) after opening the hood the rubber strip running across the top edge of the firewall (where back of hood meets) may become dislodged and fall onto the turbocharger housing. 2.) this occurs almost every time hood is opened. The last time i had to open the hood it was dark and i did not notice that it had become detached again when i closed the hood. 3.) since the rubber had caught on fire i removed it and allowed it to burn itself out on my driveway. The last time it came in contact with the turbo i was able to notice it before it actually had caught on fire, this time i was not so lucky. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2001 dodge ram. While driving 10 mph under normal driving conditions and pulling a trailer the contact smelled something burning and the engine shut off without warning. Smoke was coming from under the hood. The vehicle would not restart, and was towed to a mechanic. The mechanic stated that the crank angle sensor was burned.
