How to read a Entegra Odyssey VIN — every digit explained
Every Entegra Odyssey carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
- VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this Odyssey.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your Odyssey VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

Have had a recall on rv chassy for over two years now. Took local ford dealer over a year to finally agree they could look at my rv for fords recall. Said it was good no problem detected . Then a month later ford sends out a recall saying all recalls are now needed to be repair even if your recall induction said it was ok. Sent out official recall in March 2023 saying all need to be fixed and parts can be ordered. Haven’t gotten called back like local does said. They also say they might not be able to fit my rv in to repair. Would have to drive over 2 hours to get repaired at a ford! It’s a windy, steep, road and the recall is for power steering and all things related to that! Was told by local ford they prob won’t tow it for me since a no drive order hasn’t been issued! Safety recall 24V097. Been trying to call you guys to report with no success. Also when I put my vin in on your website it says no recalls but I have the letter, I went to fords recall page to verify and it’s still a recall. The ford dealer about 30 minutes from me was the one that finally agreed to check the recall, and have been helpful, but they are so backed up with recalls as you can tell from my info about when recall was issued and still no appt made to fix (if they can even fix it locally) the very original recall was sent sometime in 2022 I believe for it to get checked to see if there was an issue or not, and it took until either end of 2023 or beg of 2024 for it to get checked, only for me to get a letter shortly after saying it needs repairs regardless. We don’t feel safe driving our rv!
I was sent a letter in the mail from “Ford Motor Company “. The letter was a safety recall reminder . About a recall number 22S08 describing a possible failure with the Hydroboost line leaking . I received the notice July of 2022 . In efforts to get my local dealer (Awesome Ford) in Chehalis, Washington , to do the recall , They choose to tell me the aren’t able to do the work . How can a dealership choose what the do and don’t want to do . They say that they don’t have a hoist , but yet they are a RV dealer as well . I feel that I am getting stonewalled by the dealership , yes I didn’t buy my rv there but that’s not a reason to fix a factory recall is it ? The recall says it increases the risk of a crash . Any help will be truly appreciated. I am to darn old to fight with these idiots
The rv requires constant steering correction while driving on the freeway. It is greatly affected by wind and being passed by other vehicles. The constant need for correction precludes the ability to tow trailers
