Every Forest River Rockwood carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
- VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this Rockwood.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your Rockwood VIN

- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.

Tires 30 Read
First trip with trailer, 200 mile trip, stopped for gas and tire sidewall blowout sounding like a gunshot. Trailer not overloaded, cool day 60 degrees. So glad it did not happen while on the freeway as the tire blow out and lost all air would have been hard to control trailer. Goodyear Endurance Tire size ST205/7515d
Spare tire attached by cable underneath camper came loose and was bouncing around on road while still attached to spare tire cable. I had tightened up the spare tire cable prior to our 95 mile trip home, but the cable unwound while traveling until the spare tire started bouncing on road. Fortunately we heard the noise before too much damage was done and we were fortunate the tire didn't come off and become a road hazard to anyone following us. I see on multiple social media postings where this is a known problem with other Geo Pro campers and should be fixed by Forest River through a recall due to the risk of the issue.
Spare tire. ST205/75R14. Performing a walk around inspection of my camper and noticed a large Bulge under the tire cover on my spare tire. Removed tire cover and photographed the strange occurrence. This tire has been covered and unused since purchased with new camper.
2020 Forest River Rockwood 8326BH Travel Trailer purchased March 2, 2020. Castle Rock ST tires included on trailer at time of purchase as standard equipment. Feb 26, 2022, the drivers side front tire had a tread separation incident. The tread came off causing damage to the fender area. This occurred while at moderate speed approx. 50 mph, tire inflation was at recommended PSI of 80 at beginning of trip. Upon stopping to assess tires, it was noted that tread came completely off. The steel belts were exposed, checked the tire Pressure, it was 70 PSI. The two drivers side tires were replaced with a manufactures tires. After traveling another 5 or 6 miles the front passenger side tire had the same type failure. Causing damage to the area around wheels. Insurance adjuster inspected the trailer on 2-28-22. This occurred without warning or visible signs. From social media information and research found that tire failure issues are not uncommon with the Castle Rock tires supplied on Forest River travel trailers.
We heard a loud pop yesterday and found that one of our tires on our camper had exploded! Thankfully, the camper was sitting at our house. I researched the Forest River forums and there have been numerous reports of these tires exploding on and off the road. We are now concerned with the integrity of the other tires and fear of trailering on our next camping trip. The tires have less that 2,000 miles and are barely 2 years old. ST 205/75R14. It is my understanding these tires have been reported and are dangerous. We are lucky we were not driving. We always maintain proper tire pressure and use tire covers so this is a defective from the Castle Rock manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2020 Forest River Rockwood trailered to a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 64 MPH, the tire pressure monitor alarm alerted him that the tire on the driver’s side front side of the trailer had zero air pressure. The contact pulled over, inspected the vehicle, and saw that the tire was flat. The contact called for roadside assistance and had a spare tire placed on the trailer. The next day the contact took the tire to an independent mechanic where they inspected the tire and discovered that the internal tire pressure monitor sensor clamp loosened and had fractured into pieces which caused the tire to run flat. The contact had the tire replaced; however, a new tire pressure monitor sensor was not installed on the rim. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500.
I had tread separation issues with two of the four Castle Rock ST tires size 205/75/R14 on my 2020 travel trailer with less than 10,000 miles of use. One tire blew across the tire from side to side with complete separation of the tread. The second tire had a bulge lengthwise that completely wore the tread off an 8 inch section of the tire which was likely due to tread separation.
Tl* the contact owns a 2020 forest river rockwood mini lite equipped with lions head tires, tire line: castle rock st, tire size: 205/75/r14, dot number 30-19. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the passenger's side tire formed a bubble where the wires separated from the thread. The contact also stated that the driver's side tire was shredded while driving at 65 mph. The contact was alerted by another driver of the tire failure. The rv was taken to an independent mechanic and the tires were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage of the vehicle was 2,000. The approximate failure mileage for the rv and tires were 5,500. *ln consumer stated rv had less than 5,000 miles on new tires before both of them blew. *jb
Riding down 2 lane Road at 55 mph on 85 degree morning when tire just blow out. Split in half straight across tire.
The contact owns a 2019 Forest River Rockwood RV equipped with four Castrock ST tires, tire size: 205/75/14, and DOT JUJTYMT DOM16/18. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds while towing the RV, the RV was unstable. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the two rear passenger side tires had become out of round and one of the rear driver side tires had also become out of round. The cause of the failure was not determined. The faulty tires were replaced. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 5,000.

We filled the fresh water tank for a camping trip. When traveling down the highway and making lane changes or cornering the trailer would start to sway, i would hit the trailer brakes to get it back under control. The trailer started to sway again and i lost control, this time rolling the truck and trailer. I noticed the fresh water tank was located at the rear bumber. I feel the water swatching around in the un baffeled tank caused the trailer to sway out of control. Two weeks prior to this we had towed the trailer in high cross winds with no problems, but there was no fresh water on board at that time. I tow the trailer with a 2006 ford f 150 super cab 4x4 6ft bed and use a e-2 stabilizer hitch. I had use this set up on the 25 ft r-vision for 3 years with no problems. We lost our dog from injuries from the crash. Updated 12/1/2014 *js
We were pulling a new 2015 travel trailer that had about 250 miles on it. A tire blew and caused the trailer to fishtail, ultimately causing the truck to flip and the trailer to turn on its side. Both vehicles were totaled.the weather was clear, the road was not wet and there was no debris. Speed was not a factor, nor overload. Seat belts and god's protection saved our lives.the tires on the trailer were west lake st/205/75/r14. We have since learned that the tires were made in china. We believe they were defective. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2021 forest river rockwood ultra lite *2608* (added by harrison, 6/3/20). The contact stated that upon his wife going up the stairs and pulling on the entry door handle located on the outside the trailer, the handle fractured causing the contact's wife to fall and sustain a contusion to the back of her head along with body bruises such as her back and right shoulder. The contacts wife sought medical attention for her injuries where they confirmed she suffered brain bleeding. The contact spoke with toscano rv center located at 2531 e pacheco blvd, los banos, ca 93635 and they sent him a replacement handle for him to install. The handle was replaced and functioned as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65. *bf consumer stated handle made with hollow turfing.*jb
We purchased a 2018 Forest River Rockwood Windjammer 3006wk from a private seller on July 17th, 2021. Within less than five minutes of picking it up, the exterior kitchen door popped open, and hit a brick mail box near the side of the road. We are sure the door popped open, because the awning sticks out further than the door, and it was not effected. After the incident, I found a Windjammer forum with a post from another person who had issues with this same door popping open while the trailer was in motion. This was not a busy road, however if this had of happened on a highway or busy area, it could have caused serious injury. There was minimal damage to the mailbox, however extensive damage to our just purchased trailer. The exterior kitchen door was completely ripped off and unsalvageable. It is obvious that it had popped open, based on where the door shows impact. Also, when the door made the impact, it tore a small place in the side of the trailer body, again making it obvious the door had been pushed up and to an angle at impact. The front of the cabinets in the exterior kitchen flew off, and the refrigerator came open causing shelves from inside to shatter in the road. Therefore, in addition to the door being ripped off, there were a lot of debris flying out with it, which again could have caused serious injury. The trailer is available for inspection, however we will not be moving it again. Someone would need to come to trailer. Safety was put at risk because the door could have made impact with another vehicle, and/or the flying debris could have caused serious accident or injuries. It has not been reproduced or confirmed by dealer, as the damage is there and obvious in photos. We are not comfortable towing the trailer again. Police and insurance were not involved, because we were able to settle directly with owners of mailbox. There was no warning, and we were not aware of this being a problem, as we had just purchased the trailer.

The contact owns a 2021 Forest River Rockwood RV. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH on the freeway, the RV was driven to a rest stop where it was discovered that the air conditioning unit had dislodged from the roof of the RV. The RV was taken to the local dealer where it was determined that the bolts used to secure the air conditioning unit to the top of the RV had failed. The RV was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 800.
The contact owns a 2020 Forest River Rockwood. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, an abnormal snapping sound was coming from the RV, followed by a dragging sound. Upon inspection of the RV, the contact discovered that the battery had fallen out of the vehicle due to faulty metal straps. The contact was able to temporarily fix to the RV until reaching his destination. The contact was able to replace the battery and the straps to prevent the failure from returning. The contact linked the failure to a manufacturing defect. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered to assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,500.
This trailer has twelve bolts and nuts that retain the body of the trailer to the trailer frame. I had three of the nuts completely fall off while the remaining nine were only finger tight. Additionally there are two brackets that retain the LP gas line that connect to an outlet on the side of the trailer. These brackets are held in place by self threading screws. Both screws on my trailer have fallen off.
Bolts securing the body of our geopro 19bh to the frame were placed in a manner that bent the frame, did not have nuts placed on the end of the bolt, and do not secure the body to the frame.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 forest river rockwood travel trailer. The contact stated that the water holding tank bolts became detached and the frame was fractured. The vehicle was taken to driftwood rv center (1975 u.s. P, cape may court house, nh 08210, 609-624-1221) where it was diagnosed that the frame needed to be reconstructed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they were aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. *tt vin is invalid. Updated 12/18/18*jb
Wheels 24 Read
I am a new owner of a Forrest River Rockwood Extreme Sports Package Pop-up single axel RV camper trailer. Purchase date was 05/27/2022. Incident occurred on June 23rd 2022. (27th day of ownership) During this trailers very first trip out my husband, our kids and I had a catastrophic Lug Stud/Lug Nut failure on the driver side tire which caused the trailer to lose the entire wheel and tire and caused so much damage that I fear my new trailer is going to become totaled out once an insurance adjuster comes to inspect it. Without warning, this incident caused the trailer to bounce and then slam on the highway and then lose control. The sheer forces involved caused the slide out dinette to become unlocked and spill out all over the side of the highway, destroying the plywood structure of the trailers livable space on the drivers side which included the furnace, propane lines, electrical lines, and even the cable system which is needed to fully raise the pop up. While talking to the Highway DPS and the tow truck driver, they both were in agreement that either the Dealership or the Manufacturer over tightened the lug nuts. This is because 3 of the 5 lug studs were completely sheered off, so much so that they were flush with the mating surface of the hub. After looking at the rim of the wheel that was involved it looks possible that the remaining 2 lug nuts may have shattered or failed in some way from the forces that were placed on them from not having those other lug studs to distribute the weight. The trailer was towed to the dealership, where it was purchased from, and they looked at it and were heard speaking to each other that the axle looks to be bent and that the damages look to be a total loss. The dealership person who I am working with does not want to admit that it is a defect and wont let my husband and I get our belongings out of the trailer until an insurance adjustor/inspector comes to look at the trailer and the damages.
I purchased a MicroLite 2515s in January. However, one of my internal TPMS died on the front passenger tire. I received a replacement sensor from TST and had it installed today. When the tire tech dismounted the tire from the rim, he found sections of the metal band that holds the sensor, loose inside the tire. Multiple pieces of metal, sharp edges, sharp corners falling around the inside of the tire. Whoever installed the sensors at Forest River cut the band and left the scraps inside the tire. This is a huge safety issue for my family and other drivers on the road when those metal pieces shred the inside of the tire. Clearly, the installer either did this on purpose, or was just negligent in their job. Maybe a one off mistake, but no. I checked the other tires and two more have metal scraps inside the tire. I can hear the pieces falling around inside the tire when I spin the wheels. So, out of four tires, three contain metal fragments. This is a huge safety issue and Forest River is responsible for this screw up. I have photos and video of the pieces inside the tires. This problem has been documented since 2020 with complaints and photos. Here's a link to a RV forum from 2020 [XXX] Clearly, Forest River is negligent for this continued practice and it remains unexplained how and why this keeps happening to their product.
I was inspecting my travel trailer when i notice that my tires looked worn- i looked up my brand new information on my tires and the only matching dot number was the spare tire in which it was the only new tire on the brand new rockwood
I wanted to bring something to your attention, (i sent this to the manufacturer with no response) i just purchased the above camper trailer on october 3, 2020, took it to get the tires balanced on october 6, 2020, when the tech started to balance the first tire, the tech could hear something moving inside the tire, so i asked him to take the tire off and see what it was. As you can see from the attached photos, there were several large and small pieces of stainless steel clamp material inside the tire, eating away from the tire inside out, the ss came from the tst truck tire pressure monitoring system, our first thought was that someone from the factory was just tossing the scraps from the clamps in the tire but after further investigation, it appears that the excess of the clamp, there was approximately 7.5' of scrap in each tire. This is coming from the factory like this!! The directions from the tst inside the tire system clearly states that the excess needs to be removed to prevent tire damage. This is definitely a life safety hazard that i thought that someone should know about it. I got lucky and caught it when i got my tires balanced. Forest river installs these sensors in all their trailers, i cannot image how many units are on the road with this hazard inside their tires.
We were traveling with our Rockwood Mini Lite and stopped at a traffic light. Someone from another vehicle ran over and told us there appeared to be an issue with one of our tires on the trailer and it looked dangerous. When we stopped to look, the passenger side tire on the front axle was bent in toward the center of the trailer. It is now at a repair shop and they have reported that the axle is broken. We don’t recall hitting anything, but filed an insurance claim for the replacement of the axle. Repair shop reports that they are still awaiting a response from the manufacturer, Dexter Axles, on when a replacement will become available. This morning, while perusing a Facebook page for Rockwood Mini Lite owners, I ran across a post from someone dealing with the exact same issue. Following, were numerous comments from others with the same issue. While this seems very odd, I cannot locate any recalls on the Dexter Axles. I feel as though this could have been disastrous for us if someone had not told us about the issue as well as these others who posted the same issue on Facebook. This is something that should possibly be brought to light.
Our forest river rockwood signature 8335bss travel trailer has a spare tire mounted underneath the trailer. It is attached by an assembly with a cable by which the spare can be lowered when needed. We returned home from maine (a 2-day, 750 mile trip each way) on 10/15/19 and found the spare tire dangling by this cable and no more than 6" from the surface of our parking pad! Since the trailer was covered under warranty, we re-tightened the cable and took the trailer back to chesaco rv, joppa, md, on 10/23/19. Among other warranty issues, we asked them to check this spare mount, since it could have been catastrophic if the wheel had hit the road at highway speeds and had broken loose from the cable. The damage to the trailer would have been the least of our worries, since someone could have been killed. When we picked up the trailer after service, we were assured that the dealer could find no problem with the mount, and that forest river stated they had experienced no problems with this set-up. I have since added a visual check of the mount at each gas stop, and have added nylon strapping as a backup to the mount. As a member of the forest river forum, i have since read at least one other account of this happening to another forest river product. In that case, there was extensive damage to the undercarriage, the wheel and tire were destroyed-but at least no one was hurt. I have been in contact with that individual recently; and although forest river covered the damage under warranty, they will not consider providing another mounting device for that spare tire. So as far as i can tell, forest river continues to utilize an unsafe product on certain of its travel trailers, refuses to provide a safe alternative to those who have bought trailers with this spare mount, and in my opinion it is just a matter of time before injury or death occurs when this spare mount fails.*dt consumer stated vehicle has been repaired.*jb
While traveling home from camping on i-4, the left rear trailer tire blew. After safely getting to the side of the highway, i discovered the right side tire was also blown on the same axle. I had to put two new tires on my camper. While driving to the tire store to replace the front two tires, a third tire on the right front axle blew. The tires in question are castle rock ( made in china ) st225/75r15 load range d-dot jult imt 0216. I had exactly 65 psi in those tires prior to getting on the highway.

This travel trailer cannot be used under it current condition due to potential danger involved, not to mention ruining an otherwise new tire. I have contacted the manufacturer regarding this. I believe, had i not noticed this, catastrophic failure under use could cause death or serious personal injury.
Had 2 blowouts on same tire within 500 miles, the day after we bought it from camping world. This is exactly what happened. Summary: forest river is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 rockwood, windjammer, vlite and flagstaff travel trailers manufactured february 3, 2012, through february 4, 2013. When an affected trailer hits a large bump or pot hole, the trailer tire may contact the bottom of the floor. Consequence: as a result, the tire may become damaged and possibly blow out which may cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: forest river will notify owners, and dealers will add a lift kit between the frame and the axle mounting brackets, free of charge. Owners may contact forest river at 1-[xxx]. I am reporting a safety defect on a 2022 Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite travel trailer, model 2516S, This RV is equipped with Dexter axle #1 and #9 from a total batch of #288 axles that Forest River recalled on July 27, 2022 under NHTSA recall 22V-558. The RV was purchased on July 15, 2022, twelve days before the recall. Of the 244 recalled RVs with those axles, only the single-axle tent campers were recalled because the defect was visually obvious on those units. On tandem-axle RVs such as this one, the incorrect installation was not visually apparent. This travel trailer was manufactured with brake axle defects and buyers of these units were never contacted. It does not take an engineering analysis to conclude that if axle #1 and #9 from this batch are defective and 244 RVs were recalled, then all 288 axles should have been inspected and included in the recall. The brakes are significantly ineffective in forward motion, causing complete brake failure under normal braking. This is an active safety hazard. There is serious concern that the remaining 44 axles from this batch were placed on tandem-axle RVs and released into commerce without notification, despite the fact that I have not changed my phone number, address, or email since purchasing this trailer. This is a one-owner, low-mileage unit that has never been serviced or altered. Attempts to resolve this issue through Forest River representative dealerships, Dexter Axles, and Forest River have been ongoing for three months with no resolution. No repairs have been made. The trailer is currently being towed over 1,300 miles to Montana for work with defective brakes. Multiple photos have been attached clearly showing the incorrect brake installation. Please investigate this latent manufacturing defect and consider expanding the recall to include these excluded axles.

Dexter axels can not be aligned, resulting in excessive tire wear and blowouts. I purchased a 2019 Rockwood travel trailer used on [XXX]. Tires looked nearly new. On [XXX] I replaced tires in Kanab, UT. On 8/31/2021 I had the alignment checked at Superior Spring in Cheshire, MA. The axels were severely out of alignment but due to the Dexter design they could not be aligned. I called the trailer manufacturer and was referred to Dexter. Although I was 2 years into the 10 year warranty, Dexter told me the warranty only covered the original purchaser. Since that time, I have replaced tires two more times on 5/3/2022 and 4/10/2023. The tires are now showing uneven wear and will need to be replaced soon. I BELIEVE THE INABILITY TO ALIGN THE AXELS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW AND A SAFETY CONCERN. All four locations on my vehicle have FAILED Maryland State Inspection because the weld point between the axle and the mounting bracket have BROKEN. There is no justification for Dexter Axle to sell products with such potentially serious manufacturing defects.

Ok purchased this trailer new. After about 1500 miles we had a blowout without knowing it on the front axle passenger side. We discovered it when we pulled into a campground. There was only sidewalls left. We put the spare on and went to a tire store the next day. We replaced the tire and the other side on that axle so the tires would match. We took several short trips around the area and then in the spring of 2017. On the way home with once again about 1500 miles on the new tires the tire minders alerted up that we were losing air in the tire on the front axle passenger side tire. At the same time a car pulled along side and told us that we had throne a tread. We pulled over and we had throne the tread. I changed the tire and we proceeded home. We took the trailer to olathe rv and they informed us that the front axle was bent. I couldn't understand how but we ended up contacting the axle manufacture and after several discussions they agreed to replace both axle's as a good faith jester. We had to pay all other expenses associated with the problem. We assumed the problem was fixed. Because of complications with a knee replacement surgery in 2018 we were only able to use the trailer on one trip on about 1400 miles. No problems. Then this year we went to nebraska, minnesota and then out to colorado. The total miles on that trip totaled 2800 miles.on the return from colorado i was walking around the trailer and noticed the inside tread on the rear axle was showing cord. I changed the tire. When i got home another 150 miles i noticed the same thing on the front axle on the other side. We took the trailer to a trailer company and they said that both axles were bent. Problem trailer is rated at 4k per axle total 8k trailer weight dry is 7690k with a cargo capacity of 1193.total gvwr with cargo 8939k. So the trailer loaded is 939lbs over the axle rating.

The tires are hitting the bottom floor if you hit the bumps or pot holes in road and causing the tire to bottom out on the floor of the trailer causing the tires to blow out and wear out prematurely. This was noticed on previous year models…

Cpsc: i1450340a. 2013 rockwood travel trailer. Consumer stated the trailer started to sway and caused the truck to roll over on its roof. *ln the consumer stated he noticed the trailer starting to sway, when he went around a corner or changed lanes. The wind then caught the trailer, he hit the trailer brakes, to slow the swaying down. He then let go of the trailer brakes and the trailer jerked. When he looked at the pictures, he noticed the fresh water tank was exposed at the rear bumper of the trailer. When he went to retrieve his belongings, he checked the tank for baffles, and discovered none had been installed in the tank. The consumer realized the water moving around in the tank, played a major factor in loosing control of the trailer. The trailer hitch broke when it rolled, causing the sway bars to come off the hitch.
Some RV manufacturers have started using this new "Dual Swing Door" refrigerator in select model RV's (in 2024, possibly in 2023). The refrigerator is made by Way International and is sold under the Magic Chef, Everchill, and Furrion names (and maybe more). This fridge has a single refrigerator door with a single freezer compartment door above it. These doors can open from either side without changing, swapping, or removing anything. Just pull on the right door handle to open the door to the left, or pull on the left door handle to open the door to the right. The problem is that it is a little hard to close/latch the doors fully - compared to a normal fridge door. If the door is not fully closed (and it's hard to tell by just looking at it), the next time the fridge door is opened from the opposite side, the door will fall off and hit the floor. My wife accidentally and unknowingly didn't fully close/latch the top freezer door one time and I wound up opening the freezer door from the opposite side the next day and the door fell off, striking my right shin and gouging my leg, peeling the skin off my shin in one area and leaving a bleeding wound over 2" long on my shin. Since the door hit my leg before eventually hitting the floor, the door and floor were not damaged as my leg took the brunt of the impact. My leg is healing. If an adult, fully aware of the issues with closing this type of door, failed to close the door properly, then small children could easily not fully close/latch these doors and could be hurt if they later tried opening the fridge or freezer door from the opposite side or were standing in the vicinity of the refrigerator when someone were to open it, if either door fell off. My granddaughter was in such a position 2 days before the freezer door came off, waiting for me to get her an ice cream bar from the freezer. Good thing the freezer door didn't come off then, it would have hit her in the head. Very dangerous design!

Model 2507S Trailer, Suburban 6gal Gas/Elec Water Heater. Has been out 4 times since new last summer. Last trip lasted 5 weeks. When setting up at camp, open up trlr and operate Water heater on Gas, with any kind of winds from Drivers side rear quadrant, The CO - Propane detector goes off, and readings of up to 350ppm of CO (no gas odorant noted). Gas heater is shut off as unit is emptied of personnel, and ventilated (upper bath vent fan, and external fan in door), for 20 minutes. This is NOT a gas leak as soapy water on joints do NOT bubble on all exposed joints and no odorant smell in or around unit. The Water heater sits about a foot aft of the one slide out. Seals are in good shape on the slide out. Inspection of the Water heater body and trim cover, shows a few gaps that could very well allow exhaust gases into the interior. Note that DIRECTION of Wind is important here. Any winds from the Front or passenger side DOES NOT cause the CO Detector to sound. Winds from 90 deg on Driver side to 180 (back) causes CO Detector to sound. Levels seen on Detector are 5 to 7 times the OSHA 8hr weighted maximum exposure of 50ppm. Feel this is a design defect as the slide out may be causing a blocking of exhaust (lack of draft) out of the front cover, and the exhaust is getting blown internally. Trip lasted from 3-22-24 to 04-25-24. Electric side of Wtr Htr was used exlcusively after noting problem. No injuries occured.

Took trailer to dealer for service. Dealer found large cracks in frame on left in front of wheels where slide room mechanism passes through frame. Frame is bent and unstable, unsafe to be towed on highway without risk of sudden complete collapse and loss of control of trailer and tow vehicle. Trailer was never in an accident. Frame broke spontaneously. There was no warning of this potentially catastrophic flaw. Frame manufacturer, frame distributor, and trailer manufacturer deny responsibility for this life-threatening defect in frame, which dealer service department finds undeniably visible.

The transmission failed on our 2019 Subaru Touring Ascent. Also, the Bluetooth brake system for pulling our trailer was losing electrical contact as it wobbled on and off. We tried to remedy this blue tooth situation before our last journey with the Camping World dealership who sold us the trailer, but it still was not connecting properly . We were put at risk and others were put at risk because the blue tooth wireless brakes were not functioning correctly. The trailer swaying into a traffic lane also put us and others at risk. The Subaru Ascent can not tow this 2022 GeoPro trailer safely. We were told by various salesmen that it could. The service manager at the Subaru dealer confirmed that this trailer is indeed too heavy for the 2019 Ascent touring model. There is excess forward weight on the drivers side causing the trailer to pull to the left due to the extra weight of the side out and the 60 gallon water tank even when using a:sway bar. We had no warning lights prior to the failure.
A spring in the dexter electric brake assembly failed, causing brake components to fall into the brake drum while traveling at highway speeds on an interstate highway. This led to brake failure, component destruction, and overheating of the wheel. Because this happened on a trailer, we didn't realize what happened until we reached our destination. We had put approximately 1,000 miles on this new vehicle when it happened. (there are many similar reports on various rv owner internet discussion groups.)
2013 rockwood freedom. Consumer writes in the regards to brakes locked during towing. *smd the consumer stated smoke emitted from the trailer brakes. The brakes were so hot that grease was oozing from the bearings. The consumer also found the brake lanyard was disengaged. The consumer was informed the backing plate, hub needed to be replaced. Also, the bearings needed to be repacked. The consumer was informed the brake lanyard disengaged which caused the trailer brakes to lock up, was due to a piece of road debris hitting the cable.
In ardmore, oklahoma when we stopped for fuel it was brought to our attention by another motorist that grease was leaking from all four hubs of the two axles on our 5th wheel. After staying in ardmore for two days and not being able to get the repairs we needed we had to drive to a service facility in denton, tx where it was determined the brakes were burned off of all four wheels and this had caused the axles to overheat and forced all the grease out of the hubs and it had burned off all the brake wiring as well. After parts were obtained from dallas, tx the brakes shoes were all replaced, new brake wiring installed and axels repacked. We realized at this time we had driven this vehicle an additional 66 miles with no brakes. This was very disconcerting to say the least. In august, 2013 we delivered the damaged parts to the forest river factory representative when we attended the frog rally in in. Rockwood unit model#: 8289ws purchased 3/13/12 date of manufacture: 12.14.2011 this is incident #1 of 5 on this vehicle. We will be posting all 5 incidents.
We were on the highway in northern kentucky when a motorist brought to our attention that he saw the grease cap blow off and there was smoke was coming from the right front wheel of the 5th wheel. Upon inspection the mechanic determined that the hub bearing overheated and lost all the grease in the bearing. Upon further inspection the spindle was damaged beyond repair. Replacement of axle was needed. This axle was not available and would have to be manufactured by the company in indiana that made the original axle. The part had to be shipped from indiana to the repair center in kentucky where the 5th wheel was waiting to be repaired. Safety is the key issue for our family and for that of other motorist. We did not drive the 5th wheel any further nor did we have assurance in the remaining, original axles, manufactured by al-ko, that were still on the vehicle. Having the same manufacturer (al-ko) replace the broken axle did not make us feel safe. On april 2 we were sent a return form to have the 5th wheel unit picked up in kentucky and taken to the forest river facility in indiana for repair. The part was being shipped from al-ko to the quality auto care, in kentucky, in order for them to install the axle so the 5th wheel could be moved to in. The unit was then moved to indiana to have final repairs as needed. Repairs were completed in indiana and we were notified on april 29, 2014 that the unit was being delivered to us in kansas.we have been inconvenienced and put at great risk towing this unit. We are skeptical that a new axle was installed or repaired by forest river since we had an additional axle failure in 2015. This is incident #3 of 5 we will be posting. On december 31 we were returning from a trip and were approximately 30 minutes from our home we were flagged down by a motorist at an intersection he indicated that smoke and oil were blowing out of our driver side rear axle on our 5th wheel. We found a safe place to pull over and saw the wheel hub cap was missing and grease was coming out of the wheel hub creating a lot of smoke and heat. You could smell the grease burning inside and outside the rv. Due to the time of day, approximately 5:00 p.m. On new year's eve we could not find a service center open. We proceeded at a very slow pace, approximately 30 mph, stopping periodically to check wheel, until we reached our home. This is our fifth and final mechanical failure for this rv unit. It is a lemon and we are asking for a full refund for this rockwood from forest river. We have no desire to ever take this rv again. It is unsafe and we will not put our lives in jeopardy. We are only asking for forest river to take this rv in return and settle with the bank. We've always had routine service completed. We find that we can't endure the uncertainty of travel and great peril if something else should go mechanically wrong with this 5th wheel. Forest river had this unit towed to liberty rv to do repairs "again". This is not a trustworthy unit even with "their repairs". They had said, on the prior incident, that they repaired these axles but they failed us again. This unit is not safe on the road for us or for other motorist. We have indicated to forest river on numerous occasions that we do not feel safe towing this vehicle after losing the brakes and the axles twice! Incident #5 of 5.
Nothing happened. My complaint is the inactivity and not resolving recall #22V243 on a propane connector on my RV that can leak and cause an explosion. I received the notice 4 months ago and I'm told there are no parts available when Forest river is pumping out new trailers every hour. This is ridiculous!
