The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated that immediately after purchasing the vehicle, it was discovered that the SRS warning light was illuminated and remained illuminated while operating the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted regarding the failure. No further information was available. The failure mileage was 129,000.

With all the airbag recalls, is the reason they have not recalled them on my 2000 Honda Accord and my 1996 BMW 328ic because there are so few still on the road and should a death or injury occur, it’s only one so not worth recalling them? I find it hard that cars not quite as old have been recalled but these have not. My son still owns his 1999 Honda civic, too! Thank you for your time and dedication to safety.

Dealer has not completed the required repairs for open recall. Arrived at dealership (Boardwalk Honda, 609-428-4499) on 10-14-20 and was told part was not ready, and that I would be notified when it was. I have not been notified, and the dealership has not been responsive

The contact owned a 2000 Honda Accord Sedan. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph on an offramp and merging with regular traffic his vehicle was struck on the rear passenger door and rear tire by another vehicle in a T-bone manner. The contact stated that his vehicle was spun by the impact and then collided with a pole. Only the driver's side airbag was deployed but the driver's steering wheel and passenger front airbags did not deploy. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. The contact said that he suffered a head and neck injury, right hip injury and lower back injury, and left shoulder bruising. The contact stated that he did not seek medical attention at the scene of the accident but was driven from his place of employment to the Emergency Room. The contacts vehicle was undrivable and towed from the scene to an impound lot. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the contact's insurance company. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 400,000.

I received a letter about the airbag recall for my 2000 Honda Accord EX back in year 2020, so I call the dealer in Sanford to make an appointment. They tell me I have to take my car in first, then they will inspect it and order the part (AutoNation Honda Sanford 407-323-6100). I arrived early, they took my car in and in about an hour later they called me that my car was ready. I was surprised on how fast the job was done. I looked at the invoice paperwork Honda gave me and left home. At my house I was looking at the invoice and it did not show anywhere where the airbag was recalled, so there was NO second appointment. I called on the same day of my appointment (Nov. 14, 2020) and speak to a rep who I explained the situation. She placed me on hold a few times and at one point I asked to speak to the person who was in charge who was Michael Donaldson (service advisor 7927). I explained to the service manager that I did not see anything about the airbag being recalled. He said after the tests they performed, my car did not need the airbag to be replaced, so they did not schedule another appointment because of that. Mr. Donaldson did tell me that Honda performed a SOFTWARE update and that would be it. I asked Mr. Donaldson "how a software update is going to fix the metal pieces inside the airbag?" His replied was "that was all the car needed". I decided not to call the same Honda dealer again, but did call Holler Honda (407) 629-1234. Unfortunately before I was able to take my car in, the transmission failed, so I had to cancel. I WILL fix the transmission and the car WILL be on the road again. I have proof of what Honda in Sanford did on the day of my appointment. I keep receiving letters and emails about the recall, so something WAS NOT done correctly, because if they send the report that my car didn't need an airbag, why do I keep getting letters and emails to call for appointment? I ALREADY MADE AN APPOINTMENT and HONDA DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING.

On this vehicle, it is common knowledge that the V6 models have an issue related to the transmission (referred to as the automatic transaxle by Honda) where the system was not reworked to account for the extra torque put out by the more powerful V6 engine causing it to strip and shred portions of the gearing causing gear slippage, rough idling, and other similar issues usually occuring sometimes around or after the 80k mile mark. Upon finding out about this, I did some research and Honda's "solution" offered was that transmissions could be swapped for rebuilt ones salvaged off of other vehicles brought in for similar issues but there have also been reports of these rebuilt transmissions beginning to fail after they reach an additional 80k miles proving the issue was not truly resolved. On top of this, a formal recall was never made, owners were not made aware of this, and the offer was only made available to those who brought their vehicles in for this issues within a certain number of years and certain of mileage after their purchase which is very unsafe, anti-consumer, and shows a lack of care and responsibility on their part especially since this issue affects not only V6 Accord models, but also affects Ridgeline, Odyssey, and CR-V models that use the same engine and transmission combo. It should also be noted that, due to the lack of notice or action regarding this issue on the manufacturer's part, it has never been resolved on my model as the prior owners never knew of this issue when they bought the car new but the Honda owned dealership was happy enough to quote me a $1406 repair the last time I inquired about this issue.

I had this car for a few weeks with 120K miles on it and the transmission died on me while driving and almost got hit with a big rig. Lucky the big rig has enough distance to slam that break. This car needs attention and recall with the transmission. Been reading a lot of faulty transmission for this model and no recall. Not sure if a crash or fatality will occur first before they will initiate a recall. Honda is a reliable company but has this many complaints and no recall has been initiated.

I HAVE BEEN FAMILIAR WITH THIS CAR AND MANY OTHER SIMILAR HONDA'S OF THIS YEAR AND EVERY SINGLE ONE INCLUDING THE LOWER MILE ONES HAVE NEEDED A TRANSMISSION REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT. THE J30 TRANSMISSION IS INEPT TO DO ITS JOB AND THE STRAIN ON IT FROM THE V6 VTEC RENDERS IT USELESS QUICKLY. Hello, The ignition switch in my vehicle has never worked right. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership for a airbag recall and was told them about the ignition switch problem and recall. They said they would not do the recall and wanted me to call Honda. I called Honda and was told that I would have to pay for diagnostic fee before they would attempt any repairs for this recall. The Honda case number is 14383356. I refuse to pay a fee for what should be a free recall. If you could please help me with this issue I would certainly appreciate it. I WAS TRAVELING IN REVERSE FOR APPROXIMATELY 50 YARDS AT A SPEED OF UNDER 5 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. MY PASSENGER WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. Subframe on passenger side is rusted through creating a safety hazard. I was unaware of this issue on 1999-2002 Honda Accords but when researching for the cause of a noise coming from the front end found plenty of articles but no corrective action from Honda.

SUBFRAME RUST-OUT OF FRONT ENGINE CRADLE BACK BEAM ON RIGHT (PASSENGER) SIDE, BOTH BEHIND AND IN FRONT OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. LARGE HOLE IN FRAME WAS NOTED DURING OTHER REPAIR WORK AND MATCHES NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND PICTURES OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE FOUND ONLINE. DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL OR OTHER CORRECTIVE ACTION FROM HONDA.

HE TOLD ME TO GIVE HIM CARFAX IN MY HAND, I SAID I WOULD FOR THE $35 FEE. HE FREAKED OUT,SAID THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME FOR BEING UPSET ABOUT THEIR LIES.I TOLD HIM TO GET THE CAR OFF THE LOT.THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY,DROVE TO ROSS', CAR STILL THERE. THE "BALANCE SHAFT SEAL POP OUT" IS KNOWN ISSUE (DEFECT) SINCE DAY1, HOWEVER, AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY WAS TRYING TO COVER IT UP AND MY YEAR MODEL (2000) WAS INTENTIONALLY NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL LIST IN ORDER FOR THEM TO REDUCE THE COST BY RISKING PEOPLE'S LIFE. HOWEVER, IF YOU GOOGLE IT, 2000 YEAR AND EVEN LATER MODEL ARE ALL OVER THE PLACES. HONDA MOTOR COMPANY WAS BETTING ON ITS DEALER WOULD BE SUPPOSED TO PUT A RETAINER ON TOP OF THE SEAL WHEN THE CAR IS DUE ON ITS FIRST TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT HAPPEN, THE NET RESULT IS IT COSTS ME OVER $720 TO FIX IT AND I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH THE ENGINE WAS NOT BLOWN UP (AND I HAD NOT BEEN KILLED) ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF THE EMPTY ENGINE OIL RESULTED FROM THIS SUDDEN SEALED BEING POPPED OUT (THE OIL WOULD BE GONE SECONDS AFTER POP OUT HAPPENS). WORST YET, AFTER THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, I CONTACTED WITH AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR TALKED WITH [XXX] WITH SOME JAPANESE LAST NAME WHO HAD VERY BAD ATTITUDE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, SIMPLY FLATTENED OUT AND TOLD ME I AM SORRY AND WE CAN NOT HELP IN ANYWAY. DURING A NORMAL DRIVE AND THEN A STOP AT A RED LIGHT, CAR'S ENGINE STALLS. AFTER AUTO SHOP EXAMINATION, THE CONCLUSION WAS THAT THE BALL BEARING IN THE ENGINE'S TENSIONER LOCKED UP, THUS THROWING THE TIMING BELT OFF AND BENDING VALVES DUE TO INCORRECT TIMING. A WHOLE NEW ENGINE WAS REQUIRED TO FIX IT BECAUSE OF THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. OLD ENGINE HAS BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED AND I DON'T THINK IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. *TR

IT WAS NOT THE HEADS AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT CAUSED IT AFTER EXAMINING THE CAR FOR A MONTH. NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING. THE ENGINE COST ME $2,000 AND THE TRANSMISSION IS ESTIMATED PARTS AND LABOR AT $3800. THEY NEED TO EXTEND THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY FROM 7 YEARS 9 MONTHS TO 10 YEARS. AFTER 2 YEARS OWNING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 17K MILES FRONT BRAKE PADS HAD WORN COMPLETELY AND HAD BEEN REPLACED BY A MECHANIC. AFTER REPLACEMENT WHEN ODOMETER SHOWED 19.5K MILES BRAKES HAVE BEEN OVERHEATING EXTREMELY AND LATER BRAKE PEDAL DURING USAGE STARTED TO EXHIBIT HEAVY PULSATIONS. CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED PADS WITH HONDA BRAND PADS AND DISCS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED. AT 25K MILES VEHICLE PEDAL PULSATIONS CAME BACK, ROTORS METAL TURNED BLUE AND OVERHEATING WAS BAD. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS A BRAKE DESIGN PROBLEM AND DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE ON MY OWN. I HAVE A MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MASTER DEGREE. AT ABOUT 40K MILES I MADE ROTOR REPLACEMENT AND OILED CALIPER BOLTS. ALSO, I INVESTIGATED HOW TOYOTA BRAKES OF SIMILAR CAR SIZE NEVER GOT SO HOT AND FOUND ONE CONSTRUCTION ELEMENT THAT DIFFERENT BETWEEN HONDA ACCORD 2000 BRAKES AND TOYOTA CAMRY BRAKES. TOYOTA BRAKES USE V SHAPE RETURN SPRINGS ON A BRAKE PADS AND BRAKE PADS HAVE HOLES IN THEM TO ACCEPT END POINTS OF THESE V SPRINGS. I DRILLED HOLES IN HONDA BRAKE PADS USING TOYOTA CAMRY BRAKE PADS AS A REFERENCE. ALSO, BENT V SHAPE RETURN SPRINGS FROM PIANO STRING 1.2 MM (BOUGHT IN ACE HARDWARE) AND INSTALLED THE SAME WAY AS ON TOYOTA. ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT 40K MILES. CURRENTLY CAR HAS 127K MILES AND SAME ROTORS AS I PUT IN 2004. I MANAGED TO GET 35-45K BETWEEN PADS REPLACEMENTS AFTER THIS MODIFICATION AND OVERHEATING OF ROTORS HAS STOPPED. WHOEVER INTERESTED IN FIXING THIS HONDA BRAKE DESIGN PROBLEM MAKE SURE TO OIL CALIPER PINS AND CALIPER SIDE CONTACT ELEMENTS OF BRAKE PADS DURING REPLACEMENT WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE GRAPHITE GREASE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETECT THE PROBLEM AND RESUMED WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE FAULTY AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I PURCHASED A 2000 HONDA ACCORD USED IN 2003. IT HAD APPROX 14,000 MILES. AT 30,000 I HAD TO TURN THE ROTORS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY DRIVING HABITS THAT CAUSED IT. BOUGHT CAR 12-31-1999. IN 2001, SIGNIFICANT "WARBLING"/SHAKING OF STEERING COLUMN WHEN BRAKING, AT HIGHER SPEEDS, TO THE POINT STOPPING WAS BECOMING PRECARIOUS. DEALER SAID ROTORS HAD WARPED, MOST LIKELY BECAUSE I HIT THE BRAKES HARD DURING WET CONDITIONS, GETTING ROTORS WET, AND CAUSING THE WARPING. ROTORS WERE TURNED. "PULSING" OF BRAKES STARTED AGAIN IN NEAR FUTURE; DEALER SAID THEY FIXED AT NO CHARGE WHEN DOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. PROBLEM RECURRED AGAIN. SEAT WELDING LIKE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LISTED DID NOT HOLD UP. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A NOISE AND MY SEAT FELL BACK. FRONT DRIVERS SEAT CAME LOOSE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO SUDDENLY LEAN BACK AS MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR GARAGE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS IF OUR DRIVEWAY WASN'T AS LONG AS IT IS. IT TOOK HER A WHILE TO READJUST HERSELF (SEAT WAS MOVING UNDER HER) TO GET HER FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE PEDAL - WHEN THE SEAT REARED BACK. UPON INSPECTION, THE MOUNTING BRACKET THAT ATTACHES THE DRIVER SEAT ASSEMBLY ON THE LEFT FRONT CORNER HAS BROKEN WHERE THE BRACKET BENDS UP TO MOUNT TO THE SEAT ASSEMBLY. IT LOOKS LIKE METAL FATIGUE. IT IS AMAZING HOW THIN GAUGE METAL WAS USED FOR THE MOUNTING BRACKET? THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR CONCORD HONDA IN 2007 RECOMMENDED THAT I FIX A BROKEN WELD ON THE DRIVER SEAT FRAME BY HAVING IT RE-WELDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAD ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER TO TAKE IT TO HONDA OF AMERICA TO HAVE THE SEAT REPLACED EVEN THOUGHT IT WAS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD BECAUSE THE WELD SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED WITHIN A SIX YEAR TIME PERIOD. The seatbelt SRS system light was previously identified as defective by American Honda. When my notification light came on I immediately took vehicle to Honda Dealership for repair. I have been forced to do so multiple time during my vehicle ownership. Currently the SRS light has come back on yet Honda refuses to fully and completely repair the cause. I fear for my safety and others should an unfortunate accident were to occur. I reported the issue to American Honda. Incident report number 12902734.

EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN IN EARLY JUNE 2018 WHERE SRS LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO HONDA TO PURCHASE PART, LEARNED SEVERAL DAYS LATER THERE WAS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE DRIVER SEAT BELT BUCKLE ISSUE. HONDA DEALER DID NOT ADVISE ACTIVE RECALL FOR ISSUE AT TIME PART WAS PURCHASED. PURCHASED PART, LEARNED OF RECALL, HONDA DEALER REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE TO ME. EIGHTEEN MONTHS LATER, EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND CODE. NO OPEN RECALL AT THIS TIME. CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE/SENSOR FAILING SO THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVERS SIDE IS FINE WITHOUT RUST. THE RUST IS VERY BAD AT THIS POINT AND HAS BROKEN THROUGH. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE REVEALED SHOCKING FINDING: THE R/F CORNER OF SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH AND BREAKING. DEALER ADVISES IT SHOULD BE REPLACED ASAP AND THAT THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. OBVIOUSLY IT MAKES NO SENSE TO SPEND THE $2,500+TAX THAT THE DEALER PROPOSES, AS THE CAR IS BARELY WORTH THAT MUCH. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN 1998-2002 HONDAS AS THE AIR CONDITIONER DRIPS RIGHT ONTO THIS PART OF THE SUBFRAME. THE INCONTROVERTIBLE EVIDENCE IS THE DOZENS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR SUBFRAME RUST FILED HERE WITH THE NHTSA AND ELSEWHERE - ALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE - AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT HONDA CHANGED THE DESIGN ON THE 2003 MODELS. AFTER SPEAKING TO 4 REPRESENTATIVES AT HONDA THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER RESPONDED TO A RECALL IN 2006 SERVICE BULLETIN RECALL 06-009 - CODE OPDS WHICH IS FOR FAULTY AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD REPAIR DONE ACCORDING TO HONDA 3/31/2010 - 10 YEAR WARRANTY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT 89000 ODOMETER ON 10/11/2012. APPROX. 6 MONTHS AGO THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON. I CONTACTED HONDA WITH NO ASSISTANCE AS THEY SAID THERE IS A 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON THIS RECALL. YESTERDAY I STARTED BY GETTING ASSISTANCE FROM EMILY, BRIANA, NICOLE AND ALEXIS AT HONDA - CASE NO. N012015-05-2002159 AND TO EXPECT A CALL FROM HONDA. YESTERDAY AFTERNOON JAMES (NO ID OR LAST NAME) REGIONAL CASE MANAGER. HE INFORMED ME THAT HE COULD NOT ASSIST ME. 1. MY CAR PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED OUT. I JUST REPLACED TIRES AND NOW THE CAR IS UNABLE TO DRIVE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERN. I FOUND OUT THIS WHEN MY CAR WAS VIBRATE A LOT DURING ON THE ROAD. WHEN I COME HOME, I JACKED UP THE CAR AND INSPECTED THE WHEEL AND FRONT CHASSIS. I SAW THE RUST IS VERY BAD, IT CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES I SUBMIT BELOW. THE SUBFRAME BASICALLY SEPARATED, IT WILL CAUSE ANOTHER THOUSAND OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE FRAME. MECHANICS TOLL ME THAT THE SUBFRAME SHOULD NOT BE RUST LIKE THAT. IT IS THE BASIC INTEGRITY OF THE CAR SAFETY FOR ANY CAR, IT SHOULD LAST A LIFE TIME OF THE CAR AS LONG AS YOU OWN IT. I AM HOPE THAT HONDA SHOULD RECALL THIS RUST ISSUE. IT IS HARD ENOUGH TO OWNED AN OLD CAR AND TRY TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD.

I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. IT RUNS FINE BUT, THE OTHER NITE IT LOCKED ME IN. ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND I COULD NOT GET OUT, I AM DISABLED WITH A BACK INJURY. AND THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I rotated the tires looked at the tread and noticed all 4 tires had cracks along the tread in all directions. The cracked tread make the tires unsafe for road use. I emailed the company but did not receive a reply to my message. At this time the tires loose about 10-15 PSI of air within a few days.

ON JUNE 12, 2005 ABOUT AN SRS RELATED PROBLEM RELATING TO THEIR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 06-009 DATED FEBRUARY 5, 2008. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY HAS ALREADY EXPIRED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS MORE THAN 10 YEARS OLD EVEN IF THE MILEAGE IS LESS THAN 124,000 MILES. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED FROM A PRIVATE PARTY BACK IN 2004. SINCE THESE MODELS CAME WITHOUT AN AIR CONDITIONING UNIT, I HAD ONE INSTALLED THE SAME YEAR (2004) AT THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP NEAR OUR PLACE OF RESIDENCE. I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA WITH PROBLEMS ACCELERATING UP A HILL AND SOMETIME ON FLAT LAND AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4300. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SERVICE MANAGER BECAUSE I ONLY TAKE MY CAR TO HONDA TO BE SERVICED AND NOW ALL OF A SUNDEN I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. WELL THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSIONS ON THE 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 WERE BAD. THIS PROMPTED ME TO GO ONLINE AND DO RESEARCH, AND THERE WERE A WHOLE LOT OF COMPLAINTS. THESE COMPLAINTS STATED A LOT OF ISSUES I HAD WITH MY CAR WHEN I FIRST GOT IT SPECIFICALLY I COULDNT GET MY CAR TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR FROM PARK. MY CAR BROKE DOWN ON ME SO MUCH IN THE EARLIER YEARS IT WAS RIDICULOUS. SO I CALLED HONDA TO NO AVAIL SINCE I FELT MY ISSUES WERE COVERED UP WHEN I HAD A WARRANTY WITH THEM. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer who confirmed that it was a known failure. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle had to be taken to a body shop to have the film cleaned off the headlights. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. DT: THE VEHICLE IS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD V6 EX, THE CYLINDER HAS A CRACKED HEAD. ON 6-18-05 CONSUMER WAS DRIVING WHEN WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE DUAL EXHAUST. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD HER THAT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD. THE COOLANT MIXED WITH THE OIL AND CAUSED HOT STEAM TO COME FROM THE VEHICLE. SYMPTOMS INCLUDED: GEAR SHIFT SLIPPAGE, D4 INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHING, DELAYED GEAR ENGAGEMENT, ERRATIC AND HARSH SHIFTING RESULTING IN THE CAR LURCHING FORWARD WHILE IN DRIVE, ATF LEAK, ERRATIC ACCELERATION, AND THE LEFT DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSED WITH EXCESSIVE PLAY. CAR HAD BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, KEEPING ALL FLUID LEVELS MONITORED AND IN CHECK WITH ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT ALL (NO MOISTURE PROBLEM; NO CELL PHONE, COMPUTER, ETC. USE; NO DISCONNECTING ANYTHING AT ALL, MUCH LESS RELATED TO SEAT BELTS, PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY, SEAT REMOVAL, ETC.) THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS REMAINED ON FOR MANY MONTHS. GOOGLE SHOWS THIS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, WHICH HAS TRIGGERED A VERY WIDE RANGE OF RESPONSES FROM HONDA. THIS HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL CAR GIVEN TIMELY COMPLETION OF ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. BUT THE SRS LIGHT PROBLEM, SINCE IT INVOLVES THE SAFETY RESTRAINING SYSTEMS, SHOULD BE GUARANTEED FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. BUT, GIVEN THE VARIOUS WAYS PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE HAVE BEEN TREATED, I AM RELUCTANT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO HONDA. IT MAY ONLY REQUIRE A RESET FOR THE LIGHT, WHICH SHOULD COST NOTHING. BUT CHARGES FOR A DIAGNOSIS ARE IN THE $70-100 RANGE. THEN, IF THERE IS ACTUALLY A PROBLEM WITH SAFETY, FIXES HAVE COST IN A RANGE OF $600-1500. THE WHOLE SITUATION IS ABSURD.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER IT WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE PCM AND THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

SURGE ON ACCELERATION. FROM A COLD START MY CAR EXCELS NORMALLY. IF MAKE A STOP FOR A FEW MINUTES OR A COUPLE OF HOURS GET IN AND IT ACCELERATES TO ABOUT 20-25MPH AND DIES. I HAVE HAD MY TRANSMISSION GO OUT TWICE IN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD. EACH TIME, THE GEARS START CLUNKING WHILE SHIFTING AND SHORTLY AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AND IS COMPLETELY USELESS. IN MARCH OF 2008, MY 2000 ACCORD SE HONDA'S TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 122,206 MILES; I HAD TO PAY FOR A REBUILT REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION, TODAY I WAS INFORMED THAT I WILL NEED YET ANOTHER TRANSMISSION BY HONDA, THAT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE REPAIR IS COMPLETED, AND THAT THE THREE-YEAR OR 36,000-MILE WARRANTY WILL ONLY EXTEND AS FAR AS THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY (THAT IS ROUGHLY ANOTHER 15,000 MILES OR UNTIL MARCH 2012). THE CURRENT TRANSMISSION ONLY FUNCTIONED FOR LESS THAN 21000 MILES. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS MODEL'S POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF A TRANSMISSION. HONDA HAD SUPPOSEDLY UNDER A HIDDEN WARRANTY SWAPPED OUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED THE FIRST TIME,IDENTICAL PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. THE STRUTS ON BOTH FRONT AND BACK WENT BAD ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WITH MY BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME, WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HEARD SOME THUMPING AND OTHER NOISES. THE VEHICLE HANDLING IS POOR WHEN MAKING SUDDEN TURNS (AVOIDANCE MANEUVERS). WHEN I SPOKE TO MY LOCAL DEALER, THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL AND EVERYTHING METAL RUSTS IN THIS AREA (SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN). HE GAVE ME A NUMBER FOR SOME HONDA CARE CENTER, BUT AFTER NAVIGATING THROUGH THE AUTOMATED PHONE SYSTEM I FOUND OUT THE CENTER WAS NOT OPEN AT THE TIME I CALLED...FRUSTRATING. UPON EXAMINING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IT IS APPARENT THE FRAME (ENGINE CRADLE OR SUB FRAME) WHERE THE STABILIZER BAR MOUNTS TO THE FRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS TOTALLY RUSTED THROUGH, ALLOWING THE STABILIZER BAR TO MOVE A GREAT AMOUNT ONLY TO BE HELD UP BY THE SWAY BAR LINK PIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THE SWAY BAR LINK PIN TERMINATION COMES LOOSE OR BREAKS, THE SWAY BAR WILL DROP AND DRAG ON THE PAVEMENT, POSSIBLY CATAPULTING THE CAR.

FIVE DAYS LATER, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE OUT-OF-TOWN USER CAR SALES/SERVICE BUSINESS FROM WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM, TRACING IT TO RUNOFF FROM CONDENSATION OVER THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR DIRECTLY ON TO THE CORRODED AREA. RIGHT SIDE SUB-FRAME, REAR BEAM, K FRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH FROM A/C DRAIN LINE INSTALLED TO DRAIN DIRECTLY ONTO THE SUBFRAME. THIS CAUSES THE STEERING TO FLEX SUBSTANTIALLY AND ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC COULD CAUSE THE CAR STEERING TO FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY OR COULD ALLOW THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION TO FALL OUT OF THE CAR. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS CONDITION, AS THE CAR COULD HAVE LOST STEERING CONTROL AND HAVE BEEN IN/CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A 2000 ACCORD AND HAVE SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND MANY OTHER ACCORD VEHICLES ( 1999-2002) WITH THE SAME CONDITION. HONDA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND REPLACE THE SUB FRAMES ON THE AFFECTED ACCORD VEHICLES.

DEAR NHTSA: I AM WRITING ABOUT MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD COUPE WHICH HAD AN ACCIDENT ON MAY 22ND, 2010. I WAS DRIVING IN DRY CONDITIONS ALONG I-85 NORTH IN JEFFERSON COUNTY, GEORGIA WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE SUDDENLY BLEW OUT CAUSING MY CAR TO FLIP AND ROLL OVER. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE BLOWOUT. CLICKING NOISE WAS COMING FROM FRONT SUSPENSION AREA. CAR WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME. AS A RESULT, THE SUBFRAME FRACTURED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE FRONT SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURIES/DEATH. CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA ON 7-15-15 TO GET A GOODWILL REPAIR SINCE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS AS A RESULT OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I URGE NHTSA TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPRESENT US CONSUMERS BY HAVING HONDA ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT. AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING AND ALL LIGHTS ON HVAC CONTROL PANEL WENT OUT. A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE FILLED PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB BECAME WARM AND LOOSE. THE PLASTIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB CAME OFF AND I BURNED MYSELF ON THE METAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL SHAFT WHICH THE KNOB ATTACHES TO. THE METAL TEMPERATURE EASILY EXCEEDED 300 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. ONCE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND COOLED DOWN I REMOVED THE HVAC CONTROL PANEL FROM THE DASH. THE PLASTIC IS MELTED WHERE THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB IS AND ON THE INSIDE OF THE CONTROL PANEL. I REMOVED THE CIRCUIT BOARD FROM THE CONTROL PANEL AND IT SMELLS LIKE BURNED ELECTRONICS. THE CIRCUIT BOARD HAS BROWN BURN MARKS AND BUBBLING ON THE BOARD ITSELF. I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD SE. IT WAS SINGLE HANDEDLY DRIVEN SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN MARCH 2000. I HAVE BEEN MAINTAINING IT PER THE SPECIFICATIONS STIPULATED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL, AND GETTING IT SERVICED FROM HONDA SERVICE CENTERS ONLY. I HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF UN-PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE FROM HONDA'S DEALERSHIPS AND AMERICAN HONDA. A FEW MONTHS AGO THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE IT WAS TIME TO GET MY MAJOR SERVICE DONE I TOOK IT TO LARRY HOPKINS HONDA AND SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO CHECK THE ENGINE LIGHT. THEY DIDN'T CHECK ANYTHING AND SAID THAT EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. SINCE THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK ANOTHER TIME TO GET IT CHECKED BY PAYING A DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF A $150 WHICH I COULD HAVE SAVED HAD THEY CHECKED IT THE FIRST TIME. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A STUCK THERMOSTAT, CODE P1486, AND REPLACED IT, CHARGING ME $241 MOSTLY LABOR CHARGE. AFTER A WEEK THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, AND WHEN I CALLED LARRY HOPKINS I WAS INFORMED THAT ECU NEEDED REPLACEMENT, COSTING $960, AND THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSURE ME THAT IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, EVEN AFTER SPENDING MORE THAN $1250. RECENTLY, I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY ADVISED ME TO GET ANOTHER DIAGNOSTICS DONE AT ONE OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS BEFORE THEY COULD HELP ME. I GOT THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED, AND AFTER PAYING $129 THE SAME CODE P1486 WAS FOUND AND WAS INFORMED THAT ECU WAS INDEED A WEAR AND TEAR PART. HOWEVER. AS A RESULT THE UPPER PART OF OUR SON'S BODY BECAME A PROJECTILE AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT KEEP HIM IN THE CAR SEAT. OUR SON'S HEAD LURCHED FORWARD HITTING THE SEAT REST IN FRONT HIM. NOW I AM STARTING TO HAVE ELECTRICAL FAILURES LEFT AND RIGHT. MAJORITY OF MY WARNING LLIGHTS ON, MY CONSOLE WHICH INCLUDE BATTERY, ALL DOORS, TRUNK, AND BRAKE LIGHT LIGHTS ARE ON. My 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 has a few issues: 1. Front/rear struts, sway bar bushings, and sway bar links. This has caused my car to fail safety tests for the last 5 years. I have received an itemized estimate for these issues from a mechanic. 2. Electrical. The front instrument panel is not working properly. I can not touch any buttons on the dash or the lights on the panel will go off completely. Both of these are a huge safety issue and it is not safe to drive! No lights or warning of any kind regarding these issues!

MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD V6 3.0 VTEC ENGINE IS HAVING SOME ISSUES AFTER IT HEATS UP WHEN I START IT WOULD DO SOME ERRATIC RPM CHANGES ON IDLE AND THEN STALL. IF I MANAGE TO GET IT MOVING DESPITE RPM DROPS, IT RUNS GREAT AND WOULD NOT STALL AGAIN. ALSO, IF I LEAVE IT FOR A WHILE (LIKE 15 MINUTES) AND THEN COME BACK, IT USUALLY STARTS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT WITH PCM AND FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH ETHANOL HAVING A LOWER BOILING POINT THAN TRADITIONAL GAS. THIS CAUSES IT TO VAPORIZE ON THE FUEL RAIL WHEN THE CAR'S WARM, BUT NO LONG PUMPING GAS BECAUSE IT'S OFF. WHEN YOU GO TO RE-START THE CAR, INSTEAD OF LIQUID GAS, YOU ARE SPURTING ON FUMES ON THE RAIL. AFTER STOMPING ON THE PEDAL IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK . THEREFORE IN ORDER TO AVOID GOING TOWARDS THE TRAFFIC I DECIDED TO DRIVE INTO THE WOODS ON TO MY RIGHT SIDE. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP INSIDE A WOODED AREA 45 YARDS FROM THE EDGE OF THE RIGHT LANE KNOCKING OFF ALL THE TREES ON ITS WAY. IT DEPLOYED BOTH AIRBAGS IN THE FRONT. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DAMAGED ( TOTALED). THERE WAS NO INJURIES TO ME OR ANY OTHERS IN THIS CRASH. I FIRMLY BELIEVE & SUSPECT THERE WAS SOME MALFUNCTION IN THE VEHICLE'S SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM THAT RESULTED IN THIS MISHAP. WE JUST GOT IN THE CAR AFTER VALET PARKING RETURNED IT TO US. AFTER THE FIRST BRAKE APPLICATION AT ABOUT 20 MPH THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. WE FOUND A PARKING SPACE AND CALLED FOR A TOW TO OUR HONDA DEALER. THE DEALER CALLED LATER TO SAY THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. 2000 V6 HONDA ACCORD DIED WITHOUT WARNING AT A STOPLIGHT AND SINCE THEN IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT OVER SHORTER AND SHORTER TIME PERIODS/DISTANCES. DURING THE FIRST FEW SEVERAL OCCURRENCES LIKE THIS IT JUST DIED EITHER WHILE STOPPED OR WHILE RUNNING BUT COULD BE RE-STARTED BY PUTTING CAR INTO PARK GEAR AND RE-STARTING. NO WARNING, NO SPUTTERING, NO SHAKING AND SO ON PRIOR TO ANY OF THE DYING. THE ONLY INDICATION IT HAS DIED IS THE DASH PANEL INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD ALL BE ON AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS JUST BEING STARTED. DURING RE-START THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS WOULD BE LIT LIKE THEY SHOULD BE JUST PRIOR TO STARTING. NOW AS OF YESTERDAY THE PATTERN HAS CHANGED TO STILL DIES AND THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS COME ON BUT WHEN YOU SHIFT TO PARK AND THEN TRY TO RE-START NONE OF THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS COME ON AND ALL YOU HEAR IS THE CRANKING OF THE ENGINE BUT NOT STARTING. EVENTUALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES (1-5 MINUTES) OF BEING OFF YOU COULD THEN RE-START THE CAR AND THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS WOULD LIGHT UP PRIOR TO THE RE-START LIKE THEY SHOULD. UNFORTUNATELY TOWARD THE END OF YESTERDAY THAT PATTERN AGAIN CHANGED TO WHERE THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON DURING THE ATTEMPT TO RE-START EVEN AFTER 40 MINUTES. I CALLED HONDA ON 06/18/2013 AND SPOKE TO AN AGENT AND TOLD HER THAT I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL FOR DEALING WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH UNDER RECALL#:36754 IN THE USA AND ALSO ANOTHER IN CANADA FOR THE IDENTICAL ISSUE MY ACCORD IS DEMONSTRATING. I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPACE AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 45 MINS (APPROX. 20 MILES). I CAN DEFINITELY CONFIRM THAT MY LEG WAS NOT IN GAS PEDAL AS MY RIGHT LEG WAS ON THE BREAK PEDAL TO MAKE THOSE TURNS AND STOP THE CAR IN THE PARKING SPACE. I BOUGHT MY HONDA ACCORD THIS SEPTEMBER. IT HAD A REBUILT TITLE DUE TO MINOR DENTS AND BLEMISHES TO THE OUTSIDE. NO MAJOR WRECKS. LOOKED AND SEEMED IN GOOD CONDITION. DEALER ASSURED ME THAT ALL OF HIS CARS WERE INSURANCE CLAIMS DUE TO MINOR EXTERIOR WEAR. HE DIDN'T TAKE ANY CARS THAT HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN WRECKS. HE WAS AN "ENGINEER" AND DIDN'T NEED TO SCREW PEOPLE OVER FOR MONEY. I HAD MY MECHANIC INSPECT IT RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE IT HAD A 30 DAY RETURN POLICY, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. MY REGULAR MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE WAS FINE BUT THERE WERE MINOR THINGS I NEEDED SUCH AS; NEW ROTORS, NEW TIRES, AND SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. HIS SECRETARY SAID THESE WERE ALL OPTIONAL THINGS TO HAVE FIXED. 1 MONTH LATER...THE RADIATOR GOES BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED. MY REGULAR MECHANIC CHARGES ME $600.00 DOLLARS FOR THE PROCEDURE. I COMPARE PRICES AND FIND A BETTER PRICE FOR THE SAME RADIATOR. UNFORTUNATELY, MY REGULAR MECHANIC STILL CHARGES ME $70.00 FOR HIS OPINION. I GO TO THE CHEAPER PLACE, GET A NEW RADIATOR AND HAVE MY ROTORS REPLACED. SINCE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER OWNING THE CAR I NOTICE THAT THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. MOTOR OF LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR OF OUR 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX IS BROKEN AGAIN. MY WIFE TOOK IT TO PHIL BACHMAN HONDA IN KINGSPORT, TN TWICE. FIRST TIME WAS LAST WEEK, THEY SAID THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAD TO BE ORDERED. DT: THE TRANMISSION WILL SHIFT GEARS VERY LOSELY AND MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND BUT ONLY WHEN IT IS IN REVERSE. NOW IT SHIFTS SLUGISHLY. TOOK DEALER TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOW THEY THINK IT IS THE MOTOR MOUNTS. WHILE FOOT IS ON BRAKE AT 4-WAY, CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE ENGINE WILL START TO REV UP. TOOK IT TO HONDA IN PEORIA IL - FIRST TOLD THAT "THEY" DIDN'T CARE TO WORK ON MY SUV BECAUSE IT WASN'T A TRUE HONDA. THEN, THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE ME. AFTER THE THIRD TIME, THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AFTER THE CAR WAS BROUGHT RIGHT OVER AFTER THE PROBLEM HAPPENED. NOTHING SHOWED, SO THEY CHANGED OUT A COUPLE PARTS INCLUDING THE CC SWITCH AND ACUATOR. PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR, BUT NOW THE CAR SHUTS OFF. NOT GOOD WHEN YOU HAVE A GREEN LIGHT. NOW, THE CAR IS OVERHEATING, ALWAYS A QUART LOW EVEN THOUGH OIL CHANGES ARE AT 3,000 MILES. ALSO, THE FUEL GAUGE KEEPS DROPPING THEN GOING BACK UP.

THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AT APPROXIMATELY 69,000 MI.THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND NO FAULT CODES WERE FOUND ON THE COMPUTER. I HAD THE DELPHI ALTERNATOR LOAD TESTED AND DETERMINED THAT COULD BE THE CULPRIT. DURING THIS TIME, I ALSO HAD BOTH OF MY HEADLAMPS BURNED OUT WITHIN WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR WITH AN AFTERMARKET ONE AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE. *AK

THE VEHICLE'S HAS HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION FAILURES. *NM THE VEHICLES ENGINE REVVED ETWEEN 4000 TO 5000 RPM BEFORE THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING FORWARD. ONCE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO GEAR THE CONSUMER WAS WHIP-LASHED AND BODY SLAMMED INTO MY SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE DRIVER SEAT HAS A SUDDEN SHIFT MOVEMENT WHILE THE CONSUMER DRIVES THAT OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AS VEHICLE ROUNDS SHARP CORNERS AND TURNS. IN SEP 2003 SENT A NOTICE ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT LOOSENING. THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE CONSUMER HAS SOMETHING ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION. THE CONSUMER HEARS A RATTLE IN THE DASH NEAR THE COIN DRAWER. *TC

THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT ON THE CAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES WHICH IS WAY TOO SOON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER AND HAD TO REPLACE THE EGR VALVE (COVERED UNDER WARRANTY). THE RIGHT HEADLAMP HAS BEEN REPLACED AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE OWNING THE CAR. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED FOR AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. THE FACTORY-INSTALLED CD PLAYER FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MILES. I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE HONDA, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN TOO PLEASED WITH ALL THE LITTLE NITPICKING STUFF. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE APPROXIMATELY 50000 MILE MARK. THE NEW TIRES WERE DUNLAPS WHICH FAILED WITHIN 8 MONTHS. HOPEFULLY THE NEW ONES WILL MAKE IT.*AK

CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE MORENO VALLEY HONDA AND SPREEN HONDA REGARDING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE. MY HUSBAND OWNS A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND HAD TO TELL SPREEN HONDA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I FINALLY CALLED HONDA'S MAIN OFFICE AND IT TOOK THEM ABOUT A WEEK TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. HOME OFFICE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND REQUESTED THE TRANSMISSION BE REPLACED. SPREEN HONDA HAD THE CAR FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND DID NOT OFFER RENTAL CAR OR REIMBURSEMENT. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ALL AROUND. MY HUSBAND COULD HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT THE CAR WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD AND UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED TO OCCUR. THE BRAKES ARE CONSTANTLY SQUEEKING EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT. THE MATERIAL ON THE REAR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAS MELTED. PASSENGER SEAT BELTS ARE EXTREMELY TIGHT. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE SECOND TIME WITHIN A YEAR. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER WAS TOO SENSITIVE AND THEY HAD TO ORDER A NEW COMPUTER - WAIT WAS APPROX 3-4 MONTHS. THIS HAPPENED AT 3600 MILES AND WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS OXYGEN SENSOR AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED.
