Known engine problem with bottom end knocking sounds. Potential risk of fire or wreck caused by engine failure. Engine condition is an ongoing issue. Dealerships and manufacture refuse to honor recall because last recall hasn't been addressed and the title is rebuilt.

Unknown. Vehicle serviced since 2010. Oil changes based on recommend miles. Only 80,000 miles. Wife [XXX] only uses it mostly for store runs. Since recently inspection and oil change motor has a loud knocking at start up and gets quiet shortly after but while idling you can here a ticking noise. We have all paper work to maintenance. Fear if my wife is stranded or worse and thought I would report this. I will take it in to see what is said. The contact owns a 2010 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the hood of the vehicle. The contact pulled over on the side of the road. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the rod bearing was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the warranty being expired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

On August 22nd 2025 my daughter was driving this vehicle and was in a car accident and her front air bags did not deploy. Her passenger side airbags deployed with no passenger but nothing in the front and it was a front collision. Upon receipt of the Paperwork from Copart we learned there was an active recall from 2018 for the front airbags possibly not deploying and resulting in injury during a collision, which is what happened. Her knee and ribs were injured from hitting the steering wheel. The car was declared a total loss from insurance.

Air bag light turned on June 2025. Could not be reset. Had local shop read the code. Driver's side air bag, likely clock spring. Brought it to the dealership after a month wait for appointment. It was confirmed that it was the Clock Spring and replaced. This is not a wear part. Research shows a very common issue with other kia and hyundai makes and models of a similar age that were actively recalled.. Kia declined and will not reimburse due to not having a recall for my specific make, model, and year.

The contact stated that no air bags deployed in his vehicle. The contact stated that he sustained back pain. No medical attention was required. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was still drivable at the scene. Prior to the crash, the dealer was contacted on several occasions to schedule an appointment for NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V363000 (Air Bags); however, the dealer would reschedule each appointment attempt. The contact stated that a police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 166,100.

In June 2021 my air bag light came on. Called the dealership to have them check it out. Said they would get back with me to have it checked. 2-3 days later I was driving and hit a pothole air bags deployed while driving busted windshield driver and passenger side airbags deployed. Busted windshield and broke both seatbelts cannot pull out or be safe driving it Kia of America.

MY 2010 KIA FORTE HAS 62,751 MILES ON IT AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS ON CONSTANTLY WHEN I AM DRIVING. I WAS PARKED IN MY CARPORT AND STARTED THE CAR TO GO TO THE POST OFFICE TO PICK UP MY MAIL. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AS USUAL BUT THIS TIME IT STAYED ON (SOLID) AND REMAINS THAT WAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR AIR BAGS FOR 2010 KIA FORTES BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN LIVING ALONE WITH LIMITED FUNDS AND HAVE NO CHOICE, I HAVE TO DRIVE THIS CAR AND AM CONSTANTLY IN FEAR OF LOSING MY LIFE OR BEING SEVERELY INJURED IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THAT ALONE IS A MAJOR DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND IF OTHER 2010 KIA FORTE'S WERE INCLUDED, WHY MINE WAS NOT. I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO THE REPAIR CAN BE MADE BY THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT A CHARGE TO ME, WHICH WILL ALLOW ME TO QUIT LIVING IN FEAR AND BE ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY.

I HAVE HAD 3 TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR STEMS CRACK AND DISAPPEAR INTO THE TIRE CAUSING A FLAT AT 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME WAS AT 38,000 MILES, THE LAST 2 WERE AT 76,000 AND WITHIN A WEEK OF EACH OTHER. I CALLED KIA BUT THEY STATED I HAVE TO HAVE KIA EXAMINE THEM. ON JULY 31, 2014 I WAS DRIVING 65MPH WHEN REAR PASSENGER TPMS SENSOR GAVE WAY CAUSING TIRE TO LOSE PRESSURE QUICKLY. THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE KICKED SIDEWAYS AND THEN BECAME HARD TO STEER. REAR TIRE WAS SHREDDED AND TIRE SENSOR IN PIECES. REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES TWICE SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE IN 2011 DUE TO TPMS INDICATOR LIGHT ON. FIRST TIME, ON NOV. 7, 2011 REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. TPMS LIGHT CONTINUALLY CAME ON AND HAD TO BE RESET BY TIRE SHOP. TIRES CUPPED SO BAD WE HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR AGAIN. SECOND TIME, ON OCT. 7, 2013 REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND TWO SENSORS FROM PREVIOUS FLAT TIRES. IN 2012 AND AGAIN IN 2013, A TPMS GAVE WAY CAUSING THE TIRE TO LOSE AIR QUICKLY. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD BY THE TIRE SHOP IT WAS AN ORIGINAL SENSOR THAT CAUSED THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. ONCE AGAIN THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS CONTINUALLY CHECKED AND RESET BY TIRE SHOP. ON JANUARY 19TH, 2014, WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE SUDDENLY WENT FLAT. UPON INSPECTION, THE HOLE WHERE THE VALVE STEM SHOULD RESIDE WAS EMPTY. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS TYPE. PREVIOUSLY, ON FEBRUARY 28TH, 2013, WHILE DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD AT 55 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER. AT THAT TIME, A COMPLAINT WAS SUBMITTED WITH KIA (CONFIRMATION ID K2441671). NO RESPONSE OR CONTACT WAS EVER GIVEN BY KIA. ONCE THE TIRES WERE DISASSEMBLED, AND THE TPMS PARTS EXAMINED, HEAVY CORROSION AND METAL EROSION WAS PRESENT. AT SOME POINT, THE SECURING NUT LETS GO, AND THE STEM EJECTS INTO THE TIRE, RAPIDLY RELEASING THE AIR. IF THIS IS AN ISSUE OF INFERIOR METAL BEING USED WITH THE KIA VALVE STEMS, THEN I FEEL THAT A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THUS FAR THE FAILURES HAVE ONLY CAUSED THE LOSS OF TIME, INCONVENIENCE, DRIVING ON THE DREADED SPACE-SAVER TIRE, COST OF REPLACEMENT SENSORS AND TIRES, AND RISK OF CHANGING TIRES AT ROADSIDE, BUT SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLES COULD EASILY LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE TO THE DRIVER AND OTHERS SHARING THE ROADWAY. I AM NOT AWARE HOW COMMON THIS TYPE OF FAILURE MAY BE, BUT IT IS A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS DANGER THAT COULD BE ELIMINATED OR AT LEAST SIGNIFICANTLY MINIMIZED. THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON. WITHIN THREE MILES I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION TO CHECK MY TIRE PRESSURE AND DISCOVERED THAT MY DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL TIRE STEM WAS CRACKED AND LEAKING AIR. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME A STEM ON THIS CAR HAS CRACKED. IN BOTH CASES I HAD NOT HIT ANY POTHOLES OR DID ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS DAMAGE. MY WIFE AND I OWN A 2010 KIA FORTE WHICH CAME WITH GOODYEAR LS2 TIRES, SIZE 215-45 17. IN THE THREE YEARS AND 25,000 MILES WE HAVE USED THE CAR, FOUR OF THE GOODYEAR TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED BUBBLES IN THE SIDEWALL. THIS HAS RESULTED IN HAVING TO REPLACE THE FOUR TIRES. AT THE TIME THE THIRD ONE NEEDED REPLACEMENT, I REPLACED IT WITH A DIFFERENT TIRE BY ANOTHER MANUFACTURER. THIS TIRE HAS PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY ON THE CAR WITH NO BUBBLES WHATSOEVER. RECENTLY, I NOTICED A NEW BUBBLE ON ONE OF THE GOODYEARS STILL ON THE CAR. THIS TIRE HAPPENS TO BE ONE THE SAME SIDE AS THE REPLACEMENT TIRE FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER. I BELIEVE THAT THE GOODYEAR LS2 TIRES MAY HAVE A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE SIDEWALL CONSTRUCTION. RESULTING IN SIDEWALL FAILURE (BUBBLES) WITH NORMAL USE. No Accident just routine maintenance finds that are concerning me . The car is 15 yrs old but over the years have had to replace the brake light bulb harness several times The brake light bulbs get too hot thus melting the bulb receptacle causing the brake lights not to illuminate. Have had vehicles come up behind me several times way too close for comfort because brake lights not working .

Headlights have become very yellow and cracking formed on them. This effects evening /night time driving and you see ads to purchase cleaners that I have tried and it has done nothing. Not sure why this has not been remedied or made a recall to replace these as defective materials or what one can do to solve this with positive results or recommendations people can do with out equipment. This seems to be a big problem with a lot of vehicles mine included. Thx you for listening and thought I would report this issue as another safety concern

Brake lights are consistently blowing out especially the right brake light. I have replaced the bulb at least a dozen times in the past 2 years. Also the signal lights are going out as well. There is something faulty going on with the connection that I think needs to be recalled. After a quick search on YouTube I realized that I’m not the only person this has happened to. Kia needs to have a recall to fix this issue because I can’t keep spending money on bulb replacements. Today on May 4, 2024 the brake lights weren’t working and when I went replace them they were blown on both sides. And the one on the right the actual bulb glass came off and I noticed that the plastic where the bulb connection locks in at was melted a little and the connector had slight burn marks. The bulb itself won’t stay on without me pushing the bulb in when I connect it.

Low beam headlights are so dim, driving at night is extremely dangerous. There is not enough illumination to detect more than 3 feet in front of the vehicle nor adequately see any potential hazards. After doing some research, it appears that this is a common problem that Kia is aware of, however, they refuse to remedy the situation. It is a manufacturer defect with the chrome that surrounds the bulb in the headlamps. The headlight bulbs burn the chrome that surrounds the cup and leads to severely unsafe visibility, while driving at night time or in the rain.

The contact owns a 2010 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the rear brake lights would not properly illuminate while depressing the brake pedal. After replacing the brake light bulbs, the failure recurred. The contact indicated that while depressing the brake pedal the passenger’s side brake light would not illuminate however, after releasing the brake pedal, the driver’s side brake light would turn off and the passenger’s side brake light would illuminate. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,000.

WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED STEERING WOULD MAKE A CLICKING NOISE AND GET STUCK FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT.I FELT VERY UNSAFE ON THE INTERSTATE AS I WOULD JERK THE WHEEL TO GET THE WHEEL TO UNSTICK.I PUT MY HAND UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN AND GOT BROWN OIL ON MY HAND.I TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AS I WAS TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM AND SAID IT WAS THE COUPLING IN THE STEERING BOX .THEY SAID IT COULD BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE STEERING COULD LOCK UP IF THE MOTOR SHOULD FAIL .

ON SEPT 30, 2016 I NOTICED A POPPING NOISE IN MY STEERING WHEEL, AFTER LOOKING ONLINE FOR REASONS IT COULD BE DOING SO, I DECIDED TO TAKE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THINKING IT COULD BE A COUPLING AS STATED IN REVIEW THAT I HAVE SEEN. KIA OF AUBURN, CALLED AND SAID THAT I NEEDED MY STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. A STEERING COLUMN JUST DOESN'T GO OUT. THERE HASN'T BEEN NO MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END BESIDES A SMALL FENDER BENDER. COST IS GOING TO BE OVER $800. LIKE I SAID A STEERING COLUMN JUST DOESN'T GO OUT. THIS SHOULD BE CHECKED INTO.

VEHICLE FAILED TO START. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO GARAGE WHO STATED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH TIMING CHAIN AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAD VEHICLE RE-TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT IT WAS A BAD TIMING CHAIN AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT A BELT, BUT A CHAIN. THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IT'S A NECESSARY PART FOR THE POWERTRAIN TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. AT THE VERY LEAST, THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY SHOULD HAVE COVERED THIS. TEN DAYS TO REPAIR - $1200 OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE IT IS NOT AN EASY REPLACEMENT.

A FEW MONTHS BACK MY SHIFTER (AUTOMATIC SHIFTER) BECAME SLUGGISH AND APPEARED TO TAKE MORE FORCE TO PULL BACK INTO DRIVE. WITHIN THE LAST MONTH THE VEHICLE NOW SLIPS OUT OF DRIVE AND INTO NEUTRAL. I HAVE TO HOLD THE SHIFTER BACK INTO DRIVE (WITH FORCE NEEDED TO KEEP PULLING IT BACK AND MAINTAIN THE "D" FOR DRIVE ON THE ODOMETER). IF I AM DRIVING AND I TAKE MY HAND OFF OF THE SHIFTER, IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL. THIS IS CREATING AN UNSAFE SITUATION THAT HOPEFULLY IS NOT OCCURRING ON MANY OF THESE VEHICLES. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THAT I HAVE MADE MY WAY INTO AN INTERSECTION AND HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SLIP INTO NEUTRAL. I RECENTLY HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS ON MY 2010 KIA FORTE. IT WAS NOT DUE TO BRAKE WEAR OR ANY OF THE NORMAL BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM WAS ALL MY BRAKES SEIZED UP AND THE REAR ONES IN PARTICULAR HEATED UP TO THE POINT WHERE THEY WERE CLOSE TO FAILING. THE DEALER SAID IT MAY HAVE NOT OCCURRED, IF THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN MORE MILES DAILY YET NO FURTHER INFORMATION COULD BE PROVIDED ON THE BRAKE ISSUE. I LIVE IN AN AREA THAT HAS MANY CLASSIC CARS AND MY WIFE?S OWN AUNT OWNED A CAR EVEN THOUGH SHE COULD NOT DRIVE IT IN HER LATER YEARS, SO IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO WOULD DRIVE HER TO APPOINTMENTS AND ELSEWHERE. Was driving at slow rate of speed <30 MPH, the car started having a really loud knocking sound coming from the engine and then lost all power. Had car towed to local garage and was informed that the rod bearing had been broken and the engine needed to be replaced.

On January 20, th 2024 my Connecting (Rod Bearings In cylinder # 1 failed ! My 2010 Kia Forte Started making a loud rattling noise from inside the Engine! I immediately parked my car. On February 13th, Kia Of Carson ca. Excepted my Kia for service check ! They tried to charge me $235.00 (see service check receipt! Then they later retracted the bill ! Today is February 25th and my Vehicle in still at the dealership unrepaired ! My complaint is that the Kia Dealership and cooperation has tried to Mislead me in every aspect of the rules and regulations of a recall , in order to not repair this (significant Vehical Safety issue! They even tried to get me to pick up the vehicle sand drive it away in the condition it's in ! My insurance company said they will not be liable if something happens to me while operating this vehicle while it's under Recall ! Kia is alleging that my vehical is not under (Warrenty any more! (1).If the recall was not a significant issue why would they recall the 2010 Thru 2013 Kia Forte ! It's Clear " that a 14 year old model would not still be under warranty! However...the rules of recall states that if the conditions are found to exist in any vehical subject to recall it Must be repaired!

I had oil changed on my 2010 Kia forte 2.0 motor and afterwards the oil light came on on the way home from the shop and it died and engine started making a loud noise they have an engine recall on these motors for going bad I need them to replace my engine I can't afford to put new motor in my car when it's not my fault it has a defect in the motor

While the vehicle was operating the engine had a noticeable amount of power reduction and there were multiple knocking sounds occurring simultaneously. The vehicle was being operated in the right-most furthest lane of a busy freeway in the middle of traffic and at freeway speeds of approximately 65 mph. The issue seemed to originate from the engine causing engine malfunction without engine light indication. There was no engine light prior, during, or post-incident. The vehicle has been professionally inspected, but not thoroughly diagnosed. Altogether, the motor has had a major unidentifiable malfunction and now I have no transportation from the once-reliable vehicle I was using.

I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL ON 03/01/2019, THEY CHANGED TIRE VALVE STEMS AND ACU EXTENSION. WHEN THEY FINALLY FINISHED WORKING ON MY CAR. Automatic transmission frequently disengages while driving at any speed. It stops functioning suddenly and vehicle slows down even if still depressing gas pedal. It happened a few times while in heavy traffic almost causing to get rear ended by cars. No warning lights or messages appears when it malfunctions. It happened on day I purchased the vehicle and owner said it needed a flush according to her mechanic but never had it done. Ever since then it is happening more often. Is there a recall for this? If so, please notify. I'm sure other owners are having this problem.

The contact owns a 2010 Kia Forte. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18V363000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be serviced under the recall. The vehicle was repaired however, the air bag light remained illuminated. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that they would contact the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 199,000.

AFTER I GOT MY CAR IN 2015, I NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES MY CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STOP WORKING AND WOULDN'T COME BACK ON UNTIL THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. THE ISSUE HAS CONSISTENTLY GOTTEN WORSE AND HAPPENS MORE OFTEN. RECENTLY, WE'VE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPS WORKING AND EVEN WHEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN WE AREN'T USING CRUISE CONTROL, THIS ALSO HAPPENS. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED US TO BE IN ACCIDENTS. WE'VE ALMOST BEEN T-BONE NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE WE LOSE ACCELERATION WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION.

I HAD HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE HOOD LATCH IN THE PAST. ON TWO OCCASIONS, I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE HOOD OPEN. DURING THE INCIDENT, I WAS DRIVING AND THE HOOD FLEW OPEN AND SMASHED INTO WINDSHIELD AND ROOF. FORCE CAUSED THE ROOF TO CAVE IN AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO HOOD, ROOF, PART BESIDE HOOD WHERE HOOD MEETS WINDSHIELD, WINDSHIELD SMASHED. PLEASE NOTE. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2010 IN MANCHESTER NH AND USED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE. SECOND INCIDENT OF STALLING WHILE OPERATING A 2010 KIA FORTE EX W/ AUTO TRAN AND THE "FUEL ECONOMY" PACKAGE. IN BOTH INSTANCES I HAD COME TO A STOP -- THE FIRST TIME (ABOUT 2 MOS. AGO) WAS UPON EXECUTING A HARD STOP, BUT TODAY I HAD SLOWED GRADUALLY AND THEN STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT. BOTH TIMES, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND RADIO REMAINED ON BUT THE ENGINE SIMPLY CUT OUT. CAR WAS IN "DRIVE" AND IN BOTH INSTANCES WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH PRIOR TO STOPPING. THE STEERING DID NOT LOCK. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AFTER PUTTING IT IN "PARK." I WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM ONCE I HAD A CHANCE TO SAFELY TRY DOING SO. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, THERE WERE ONLY ABOUT 5,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT I COULD BRING THE CAR IN BUT THAT IF THEY COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE/FIX IT. Airbag light will not turn off after 6 seconds. Stays on even when driving. Cruise control turns on sporadically when trying to turn off, it will not respond stays on. Car will be inspected on 10/03/2023 by Earnhardt Peoria KIA Peoria Az.

There is an ongoing issue with the MAP sensor that triggers a check engine light as well as the RPMS to fluctuate. This can happen when disconnecting the battery and/or replacing the MAP sensor. I replaced the MAP sensor and still get this ongoing issue. This is a safety concern because due to the RPMs constantly fluctuating, the car jolts forward when driving which could possibly result to the car hitting another vehicle in front of it. But the only way to get it to stop / get the check engine light to turn off, is to drive it for x amount of miles until it fixes itself. This problem has been inspected by Kia themselves and they did not give any information to me about the issue. This issue seems to happen any time I get the vehicle serviced.

hi, i have a standing issue with my 2010 kia forte sx 2.4l the engine developed this knock that has totally incapacitated the car so it cannot be driven. every mechanic ive been to says that the engine is done and needs to be replaced. ive checked for recalls and i found hundreds of consumers with the same exact problem where these 2.4l engines developed a crippling knock. Has this establishment recieved any complaints and if so what is being done to relieve the consumer who has no where to turn and is stuck with a car they cant use and is being ignored by KIA COORPORATION and every one else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thank You

THESE VEHICLES ARE ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS! I'VE BEEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS MY ENTIRE CAREER FOR 15 YEARS WITH A LEVEL CERTIFICATIONS AND ASE'S. I STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SIMPLE MATTER OF ANY ACCELERATION OVER 2900 RPM IT STARTS KNOCKING. I WILL NOT PUT MY FAMILY OR MYSELF IN THE DANGER OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ANY LONGER. IF SOMETHING WERE TO BREAK WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THE RESULTS COULD BE DEVASTATING! I'VE CONTACTED KIA MANY TIMES REGARDING THIS MATTER YET I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT KNOCKING HIS NORMAL THEY CALL IT A PING. UPON TEARDOWN I HAVE DISCOVERED ROD BEARING DAMAGE AND A OIL PAN FULL OF MINOR FLAKES FROM ROD MATERIAL. DUE TO ME KEEPING RPM SLOW I WILL HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO REPLACE THE ROD BEARINGS WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEMS BUT WHO KNOWS ON THIS MOTOR. I JUST WORRY ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DRIVE NORMALLY AND COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE A MOTOR FAILURE AND POSSIBLE FIRE FROM A ROD BREAKING THROUGH THE BLOCK. TOOK MY KIA FORTE IN TO THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. I HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY JUST AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE, AND JUST HAD IT CHANGED LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AGO. THE SHOP SAID THE ENGINE HAS MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY SAID I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I CALLED THE KIA DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE RECALLS ON KIA MOTORS AND THEY SAID THAT MY ENGINE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT THAT THERE ARE MANY OF THE SAME MOTORS THAT ARE FAILING AND I WOULD HAVE TO CALL KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO FIND OUT IF MAYBE THEY WILL ADD MY ENGINE. ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY TRACTION CONTROL IS SHOWING TO BE OFF AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATING EVEN WHEN MY CAR IS OFF. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE DRIVING ANY DIFFERENTLY OR BRAKING ANY DIFFERENTLY. ON TWO OCCASIONS NOW THE KIA FORTE HAS STALLED WITH THE ORIGINAL FUEL SENDING UNIT LOCATED IN THE FUEL TANK. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN SEPTEMBER 11 2016 (~55,000 MILES) WHERE CAR WAS PARKED FOR ~30 MINUTES WHILE SHOPPING AND WOULD NOT START-INVESTIGATION FOUND THE FUEL PUMP CONNECTOR WITHIN THE FUEL TANK GOT HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE PLASTIC AND DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE TERMINAL (SEE IMAGES ATTACHED). THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND KIA DEALERSHIPS IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA WOULD NOT DO ANY WARRANTY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. AFTER REPAIRING THE CONNECTION AND RE-SOCKETING THE TERMINALS THE PUMP WAS ABLE TO WORK FOR ANOTHER YEAR UNTIL THE SECOND INCIDENT. ON AUGUST 29 2017 (~75,000 MILES) THE VERY SAME CONNECTOR AGAIN WITHIN THE ASSEMBLY FOR THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED WHILE IN MOTION ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL WHICH IN TURN CAUSED LOSS OF POWER STEERING. AGAIN, THE CONNECTOR FOR PROVIDING POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP OPENED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BE STARVED OF FUEL. THE UNIT IS NO LONGER REPAIRABLE AS THE OPEN CIRCUIT IS OCCURRING WITHIN THE RIGHT-ANGLE PASS THROUGH THE METAL DIVIDER OF THE INTERNAL PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK. THE ENTIRE UNIT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH ALL OTHER ELEMENTS ON THE ASSEMBLY ARE WORKING. OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS EXACT ISSUE HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE POSSIBILITY OF A RECALL. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY MECHANISM ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS DUE TO ABRUPT LOSS OF STEERING, ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, AND FIRE HAZARD.

The contact owns a 2010 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. On two other occasions, the vehicle shut off and the driver was able to steer the vehicle off the roadway. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there was no oil in the engine. The independent mechanic informed the contact to check the oil level while refueling. The vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. There was an abnormal rattling sound detected. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving and while at a complete stop, she noticed an abnormal burning odor. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the third brake light assembly had melted. The mechanic replaced the third brake light assembly; however, the burning odor persisted. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where the valve cover gasket was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made abnormal rattling sounds. The dealer diagnosed that the belt tensioner needed to be replaced. The part was replaced by AAA. The contact stated that the rattling sounds were reduced; however, the burning odor persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she was concerned for her safety. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

MY KIA WAS JUS FINE DRIVING DOWN TO MY DAUGHTERS HOUSE WHICH IS AN HOUR N HALF WHERE I LIVE. WHERE ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A KNOCKING SOUND CAME ON SLIGHT NOISE. I KEPT AN EYE ON THE NOISE AND VEHICLE. WHEN WE STOPPED I CHECKED ALL THE LIQUIDS AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. MY 14'YEAR OLD WAS WEARING A SAFETY DEVICE AT THE TIME SHE WAS ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WHICH IS WHERE THE IMPACT OCCURRED SHE WAS FOUND . SHE WAS PRONOUNED AT THE SCENE . SHE WAS FOUND STILL IN THE SAFETY DEVICE HER BOTTOM HALF WAS SOMEWHAT IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT UNDER THE DASH AND HER TOP HALF STILL BUCKLED IN WAS FOUND OVER INTO THE DRIVER SEAT/FLOORBOARD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL CONCERNING THE SEATBELTS ON THIS PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER THE CRASH IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION HOWEVER I'VE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN ANY INFORMATION ON WHETHER HER SEATBELT ACTUALLY LOCKED AS IT SHOULD HAVE AS I STATED SHE WAS STILL BUCKLED IN WHEN I FOUND HER THEY CUT THE SEATBELT OFF OF HER BUT I THINK THAT'S JUST A STANDARD PRACTICE I WILL BE RECEIVING CRASH REPORTS HOWEVER THOSE ARE NOT FINISHED YET.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MANEUVER FROM THE PARK POSITION. A TOW COMPANY WAS CALLED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE TOW DRIVER SHOWED THE CONTACT A TRICK TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT THEN NOTIFIED UNIVERSAL KIA HICKORY HOLLOW (5406 TARGET DR, ANTIOCH, TN, 37013) AND UNIVERSAL KIA RIVERGATE (1536 GALLATIN PIKE N, MADISON, TN, 37115) OF THE FAILURES. THE DEALERS CONFIRMED THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN SERVICED UNDER THE RECALL, BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. OUR 2010 KIA FORTE EX LOST 90% OF POWER REPEATEDLY (RPMS DROP TO IDLE, REGARDLESS OF THROTTLE POSITION) AT SPEEDS FROM 0-35MPH. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, BUT I THINK IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE MAKING A LEFT TURN AND YOU LOSE ACCELERATION, YOU CAN BE IN THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BY LOSING POWER. ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO (25,000 MILES OR SO) THE TPS (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR) WENT OUT. KIA COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT UNTIL IT THREW A CODE (LAME). NOW WE GET THE SAME ISSUE, THE VEHICLE IS STALLING, OR "STUMBLING" WHEN THE SPEED SHOULD BE CONSTANT OR ACCELERATING, BUT THERE IS NO ENGINE CODE FOR THE CODE READER TO PICKUP YET, SO THE MECHANICS CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM ON MANY MODELS OF KIA/HYUNDAI AND THE MECHANICS DON'T RECOGNIZE IT SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT, AND YOU ARE STUCK WITH A DANGEROUS CONDITION. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THESE FAULTY TPS SENSORS. KIA/HYUNDAI SHOULD AT LEAST ISSUE A SAFETY TSB (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) TO CLUE IN THEIR MECHANICS AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND A MAN FLAGGED ME DOWN AT A RED LIGHT TO LET ME KNOW THAT NONE OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING. UPON PARKING MY VEHICLE, I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE OR NEUTRAL, RESULTING IN AN INABILITY TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND REMOVE MY KEYS. AS I WAS UNABLE TO DO THIS, I COULD NOT LEAVE MY VEHICLE AND FEARED IT COULD ROLL FROM ITS PARKING SPOT. AT THIS TIME, THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT COMING ON WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE BRAKES. ALSO, MY ESC CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON INDICATING THIS FUNCTION WAS NO LONGER WORKING. WHEN TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I LEARNED THERE IS AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH OTHER MODELS THAT HAS RESULTED IN A RECALL. HOWEVER, MY FORTE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS TO RESTART MY VEHICLE OVER FIFTEEN MINUTES, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. HOWEVER, MY ESC LIGHT REMAINED ON AFTER THIS. *TR

PURCHASED A 2010 KIA FORTE KOUPE IN FEBRUARY 2011. AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TO KIA MOTORS, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT KIA DOES NOT PROVIDE A DRIVER'S FLOORMAT THAT LOCKS INTO THE TWO CARPET-MOUNTED STUDS THAT ARE DESIGNED INTO THE CAR. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER'S MAT ONLY LOCKS INTO ONE STUD, WHICH ALLOWS THE MAT TO PIVOT AND SWING LEFT TO RIGHT UNDER THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS. *KB

FRONT TIRES ON 2010 KIA FORTE KOUP WAS WORN SO SEVERELY ON THE INSIDE EDGE THE CORDS WAS SHOWING. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE ALIGNMENT CHECKED. DEALER ADVISED ALIGNMENT WAS WITHIN SPECS. I JUST BOUGHT A KIA FORTE 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SO FAR WHEN THE CAR HAD 425 MILES ON IT, THE GAS PEDAL HAS ACTED LIKE IT WAS DEPRESSED--THE ENGINE REVVED UP VERY HIGH, BUT MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE PEDAL. MY DAUGHTER WAS ALSO DRIVING AND IT ALSO HAPPENED TO HER, IT FELT AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING COVERING THE PEDAL---MAYBE THE RUG OR SOMETHING BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS THEY RAN AND SENT ME HOME. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 800 MILES ON IT NOW AND I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED ANY OTHER SUCH PROBLEMS, YET. I AM AN EXPERIENCED MANUAL TRANSMISSION DRIVER AND I DO NOT ACCEPT THAT THIS WAS DRIVER ERROR. THE TIMES THIS HAPPENED TO ME MY RIGHT FOOT WAS COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND MY LEFT FOOT WAS DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH FULLY. *TR
