How to read a Kia Forte VIN — every digit explained
Every Kia Forte carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
- VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this Forte.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your Forte VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
Risk. Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
Fix. Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.
Air Bags: Air Bag/restraint Control Module
What's wrong. Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Kia Forte, Forte Koup, 2011-2013 Kia Optima and 2011-2012 Kia Optima Hybrid and Sedona vehicles. In the event of a crash, the air bag control unit (ACU) may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags and seat belt pretensioners from deploying.
Risk. If the frontal air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a vehicle crash that necessitates deployment of these safety systems.
Fix. Kia will notify owners. For model year 2011 Sedona vehicles, Kia will instruct dealers to verify the ACU part number and, if necessary, install an extension wire harness kit between the ACU Connector and the Vehicle Harness Connector. For all other affected vehicles, Kia will instruct dealers to install the extension wire harness kit. The recall began September 28, 2018. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC165.

My vehicle caught fire while driving also before fire vehicle started popping and stuttering rattling sound. I was on highway.
I rear-end a suv at 50 miles per hour, hit my nose and mouth on the steering wheel. The front end is severely damage, the engine caught fire, fluids were leaking but neither air bag deployed.
I already filed a complaint on this previously, however in 2020 my engine failed stop working. And i was unable to drive it or fix it. I lost my job, i had to get a rental car. The car lost speed while driving and would not go anymore..
On June 24, 2022 I was driving my vehicle on 435N to work. My steering wheel jerked to the left and started spinning out of control. I was driving at 60mph in the inside lane. When my steering jerked it caused me to turn headfirst into the inside wall. I proceeded to spin out of control across 3 lanes of rush hour traffic, clipping a second vehicle, before smashing into the outside wall and then resting in the outside lane horizontally. I was rushed to the emergency room where I suffered a broken back. Upon looking at the recalls and safety issues with my vehicle there was a recall #17V773000 for the brake pedal stopper; a most recent

300 miles after complaining to dealer of slipping floor mat stopping braking and random high acceleration-a real accident occurred against a barrier in a parking garage. Mats flip far more that audi and toyota recalls. Entire car damaged by previous acceleration(random) or brakes not working due to mats. The parking garage incident occurred at 15 mph and square head on to cement barrier severely damaging bumper, hood, fenders, grill, headlights and interior engine. I injured both arms and skin abrasions on chest-due to airbag not deploying-similar to recent recalls. Dealer response was that floor mats always give away from wear and tear at 17k miles without warning-causing me near fatal other accidents. *tr
The NECU system failed and blew the engine and caused a fire no longer available for inspection. No move running. No warning lamps at all of any sort.
My son, [XXX] , has opened a complaint/Case #XXX with Kia. His 2023 KIA Forte had been idle for at least 24 hours when the engine compartment caught fire. He became aware of this when the Fire Department knocked on his apartment door around 4:00 PM 12/26/25 and said they were evacuating the building because a car was on fire. He went outside and was shocked, to say the least, that it was his car. The Fire Department had taken off the hood to extinguish the fire. He removed his belongings once the fire was out. He contacted his insurance company but since it was a holiday weekend, he did not get a call back until 12/29/25. He then filed a claim with State Farm Insurance which was required to get his car towed to a Kia repair location. On 1/9/25, [XXX] [XXX] t Castrucci Auto Shop in [XXX] [XXX] he car was totaled. I talked with [XXX] who was [XXX] between the auto shop and State Farm, told me that once the repair exceeded the value of the car, he was instructed by State Farm it was totaled and there was no need to continue. On or around 3/4/26, Kia sent engineers to assess the damaged vehicle. Kia determined it was an engine fire and the cause was undetermined due to the condition of the engine department. The car was involved in an accident and the insurance company informed the lienholder that the vehicle was possibly a total loss and the lienholder ignored them and sold the vehicle to a public auction without contacting the original owner of the car to pay on the vehicle either. The owner of the car was injured in the vehicle in question as well as a passenger and the lienholder is aware and still sold without proper notice and they changed the locks of the vehicle to prevent the insurance company from doing a proper inspection of the vehicle. The vehicle cannot be driven on a highway and shakes at 30 miles at an in less than 10 mins. The vehicle also operates on its own. The lienholder had been aware of the issue since april 2018. Less than 2 weeks after the accident.
I believe that airbags/ airbag sensors have failed or malfunctioned and they are available for inspection. My safety as well as the safety of others was put at risk because the airbags should have deployed and they didn’t putting us further at risk. The problem hasn’t been confirmed or reproduced by anyone professional. The vehicle has not been inspected as of yet. There were no warning signs or lamps of any kind.
In a car accident I got into, my car’s airbags did not deploy like they should have and therefore I got greater injuries than I should have. I believe I hit the steering wheel and I did hurt my chest. Both my elbows were sore as well and as well as both my knees had big bruises on them. My right knee to this day still has a bruise/mark on it, which still does not feel the same since then. Very soon after my claims adjuster actually found out there was a recall on a huge amount of Kia’s because of their airbags not deploying and some type of electrical wiring not working properly or something that has to do with that. However, my year car (2019) was not included in this recall. But as you can see, it should have been. My car got totaled as a result from this accident and I did end up going to the hospital afterwards to get checked out. About two weeks or so before, my car just passed its yearly car inspection. And no, there were no messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to this all.
On september 14, 2014, my wife and i were driving our 2014 kia forte when the car began to smoke. As soon as i pulled the car over to the shoulder, flames came out of the hood. The local fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss. Kia corporate was notified of the incident however, they do not want to investigate. I need help! *tr
The NECU system failed and blew the engine and caused a fire no longer available for inspection. No move running. No warning lamps at all of any sort.
Good morning, I want to report extreme safety concerns about my KIA Forte GT - Line 2023.When I first came home with the car days later the car shut off in the middle of the street while driving just one house up from my house. I attempted to turn it back on and the car would not turn back on and it automatically proceeded to call roadside assistance.I immediately informed the dealership. The car often hesitates, fails to shift and turns completely off. Last Sunday on December 11, 2022 I was about to get on the Roosevelt Boulevard expressway while I was on a street which is a hill that leads me to the expressway going about a reasonable distance. My car proceeded to roll backwards on the hill. I immediately thought to myself this is a huge safety concern. The incident that occurred on December 13,2022 in front of my house was a dealbreaker for me. I was moving my car from my home driveway , I put my car in reverse and moved my steering wheel the opposite to go right with my foot slightly on the gas my car would not move. The transmission light , battery lights and other lights came on. My car then said reverse, neutral then reverse again. I did not change gears to neutral. Still my car would not move. Shortly after I put my foot on the brake because I saw a white car speed behind me very fast. I kept my foot on the brake until the coast was clear and the white car disappeared. After that my car immediately goes backwards at full speed ( Jumps out of gear accelerated then stalled) and hits a parked car which damages the back of my car.I called KIA roadside assistance because I was turned off by the car and I did not feel like it was safe to drive and it needed to be towed. The incident happened in front of my house but it could have happened anywhere and cause even more damage to me and someone else. I talked to [XXX] on the phone a day after my car arrived at the dealership and she immediately stated that KIA can not fix any damages. My car needs to go to a INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
A defect in 2021 Kia Forte vehicle engine start and security systems allows for the rear window to be broken without an alarm activation and the car to be started without a key or key-like device. The vehicle can be started with something as simple as a screwdriver. Vehicles of this make and model are being targeted by criminal activity and it is a safety concern for Kia consumers and drivers. Kia is aware of this defect and has issued a statement that all future vehicles will come with improved safety systems and an engine immobilizer, but no recall on vehicles before the 2022 model year have been made for repairs or adjustment to solve the issue. My 2021 Kia Forte was stolen from my house while I was home and which failed to cause a triggered alarm. There were no possessions in the car and the vehicle was locked. The individual who stole the vehicle only had to pull off my steering column cover and the ignition box to steal the vehicle. This is a rising concern throughout the nation, and Milwaukee currently has a class action suit for this safety defect. A new car with no history of problems and very little usage should not have this problem.
So I've been going back and forth with Kia for a year now my car completely lost all capability of driving and reversing after taking it to the dealer at Perris kia they claimed it was my wiring harness and that I needed to pay $7,200 because I'm the second owner of the vehicle and it's not covered under their 60,000 mile warranty as I have 70,000 on my vehicle that was after 3 months of them having my car and I was not given a rental during this time and when I didn't have the 7200 fixed they threatened to put a lien on my car if I didn't tow it that day out of there so I went and got it and after further research that's the motor blower connector actually melted and messed up the wiring harness which I found on your website that Kia did acknowledge the fact that it is a defective part and how to fix it now I am trying to get my car fixed and they are not cooperating with me and saying that I'm out of warranty but it's not a warranty issue it's a defective part.
Alternator overheated and caught on fire.
My car was stolen from a busy street in front of an elementary school while I was in a restaurant eating dinner 100 ft away. The thief was able to break the window and apparently use an iPhone cable and disassemble the ignition to start the car and drive away. It was recovered later that night several miles away. The suspect will likely not be found. I have serious concerns about the ease with which they gained access to the car and their confidence they could do get away with it. The driver was also reckless causing damage to the side. I have not been contacted by Kia that there is anything wrong the car. I think this poses a risk to car owners and other people who use roads because of how easy it is to gain access, and how w recklessly they can be driven. I have strong concerns about the safety mechanism for preventing the car from being started without the key, that has lagged behind other similar cars and made this Kia Forte an easy target for theft. My only confirmation that my specific year could be a target for theft came last night when it was stolen- the company has said nothing to me.
Air Bags 277 Read
Air bags and seat belts did not work during an accident. Car was traveling 40 mhp on a city street when it struck another care from behind. Front driver and passenger seat belts did not lock and air bags did not deploy resulting in facial injuries and concussion for driver and passenger.
Other air bag recall. The vehicle was in motion and was struck by another vehicle that traveled left of the centerline on a two lane roadway. The vehicles were involved in an off-set, head-on collision. The driver air bag and driver seat belt pretensioner failed to deploy / activate during the severe frontal impact. The driver sustained fatal injury.
Takata recall. We were taking off from a stop light when we were rear ended on 4/2/18. The driver was going anywhere between 50-70 mph. My air bags never inflated causing alot of injuries. My driver head rest was ejected causing injury to my daughters face.
I was turning left through a green light onto a city road when a car coming from the left side ran a red light going 50 miles an hour in a 35 miles an hour road, crashing into the side of my car. It hit the front drivers side tire and door, but was hit so hard that my car moved forward about 8 - 10 feet. My car is suppose to have sensor directly where the other person car hit mine but none of the air bags went off. Even though this car is suppose to have side airbags for those types of collisions.
Air bags did not deploy in vehicle crash at above 30 mph

Takata recall. I was involved in an accident and crash head on into another car. The vehicle was totaled but the airbags never deployed.
On 3/9/2021 i was involved in a hit and run accident and my kia was hit on the passenger side. It was hit so hard that the it left a hole in the door and my toddler was sitting in his car seat. The contact owns a 2013 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the brake pedal failed to operate as needed and depressed to the floorboard without warning. As a result of the brake failure, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact stated that both front driver and front passenger seat belts failed to retract as both she and her son were violently jerked forward upon impact. The air bags deployed upon impact. A police report was filed. Both the contact and her son were treated for minor pain and bruising at a local hospital. The whereabouts of the other driver are unknown. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic, where the contact was given an estimate for the repair. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer had yet been notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that there were two recalls on the vehicle, NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V773000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics). The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the independent mechanic, where it could be salvaged. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
Brakes completely locked up during my attempt to stop the vehicle does have abs and that is supposed to allow the wheels to keep moving so that you can try to maneuver and when I made contact with the other vehicle the airbag never deployed
I was in a three vehicle accident as the third car. I hit the car in front of me and in turn caused that vehicle to hit the vehicle in front of him. I had the brakes pressed down all the way to the floor and still couldn't stop in time to prevent impact, there were not even any skid marks on the pavement. The impact was so strong that my back seats folded down and the things i had in my trunk flew forward and hit the back of the driver seat. I had glass bottles of drinks in the trunk and they were all busted in the floorboard from being thrown through the back seat that folded down. Fire and rescue had to open my door to let me out of the vehicle because i tried to get out and couldn't pry the door open. To me that is a hard impact, i was injured and still seeking medical attention. My concern is with a frontal impact of such force, none of my airbags deployed! My accident has already happened and i am hurt but i don't want that to happen to anyone else. Luckily i was wearing my safety belt because my airbags certainly didn't protect me. I made a complaint with kia and there representative told me..."ma'am with your vehicle, you have "smart airbags" they only deploy in a catastrophic event." how can the car tell what is a catastrophic event...my 8 year old could have been in that back seat that folded or even my newborn niece that i care for, that could have been not only catastrophic but fatal!!! What can be done about this? Please help, i don't want someone else to suffer. *tr
Wife got killed in it went thru a bridge closed
The steering wheel locked onto one side, i could not regain control of the vehicle as the brakes stopped working as well and it made a u-turn onto the same street i was driving on, hitting the curb, rolling over. I was found upside down in my car unconscious from the crash because my air bags did not deploy.
Yesterday my brake pedal did not engage and had an accident. I had reported to kia that the brake pedal was sticking and i would have to flip it back up however when i took it in they informed me they could not recreate the problem. Kia should really look into to this costly problem. I have looked at reviews and i see where there is complaints of the same problem.
When had my accident in on going traffic my air bags did not deploy,my brakes system went out, also my horn doesn't work, and my cv axle messes up and can't find another cv axle.

Note: the individual submitting this statement of facts is prepared and willing to testify before congress or any court of law that all of which that is contained within this submission is based on facts and truth . Also let it be known a degree in "applied science in automotive & diesel technology and advanced drill fluids technology & engineering" is held by this individual and the later degree deals with the construction and engineering of newtonian and non-newtonian fluids (i.e.> water based and oil based fluids such as a engine oil ) is well within the individuals understanding of the molecular construction and deconstruction of elements . I was approached by a friend who had a situation that required quick action if any hopes of a remedy were to prevail , and the end result for myself would be owning a 2018 kia forte . The said vehicle had a total of 41,117 miles calculated and displayed on the information display attached to the instrument cluster . The vehicle was well maintained by the kia dealership as promised up to the warranty period of 12000 miles as promised by kia , at no extra charge to the customer. Afterwards the 1st original owner would continue the schedules service as outlined in the owners manual . This maintenance service would always be performed at the owners usual trusted repair shop and if not within the area at the time service was needed , a reputable repair shop would be the choice . With a well maintained vehicle in my possession i soon experienced an engine failure due to metal shavings causing poor oil circulation and paired with several other factors causing sludge build up which rendered my vehicle garbage . The dealership claimed it was due to negligence and improper maintenance . The failure happened while my children were in the vehicle during a thunderstorm with flash flooding . "satisfaction guarantee" is a lie !

The vehicle ran over the contact and proceeded to roll into the contact's yard. The vehicle then struck a couple of trees and came to a stop in the contact's neighbors yard. It was unknown if the contact sustained any injuries or if a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 58,000.
On 7/24 my 21 year old daughter was driving on a side street when the car began to accelerate on it's own. She applied the brakes (with both feet) and the car would not stop accelerating. She ended up colliding with a wall which disconnected the power and the car stopped about 50 feet from point of impact.
The contact owns a 2010 Kia Forte with a five-speed transmission. The contact received notifications for NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V363000(Air Bags) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000(Service Brakes, Hydraulics), as well as other manufacturer recalls. The contact made an appointment at a dealer and had the vehicle serviced for the recalls. The contact had to make a second appointment as not all parts were available for the initial appointment. After the contact's second appointment, all recall services were performed, and she was informed that a five-point inspection was also performed on the vehicle. Upon leaving the dealer, the contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle's clutch failed without warning. Due to the failure, the contact was unable to downshift the vehicle and was forced to use her emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The contact sustained severe emotional distress as a result of the failure, as it nearly resulted in an accident. With the assistance of a fellow motorist, the vehicle was towed to her home since the dealer was closed. The contact later called the dealer and had the vehicle towed back to the dealer. Once the vehicle was inspected, the contact was informed that the cabin filter and two front tires needed to be replaced; the contact was also informed that she would need a wheel alignment. The contact declined the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the dealer's possession. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.

On May 13, 2023, I was involved in a severe frontal collision on the passenger side while driving my 2021 Kia Forte. The impact caused significant damage, and my insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. Despite the severity of the crash, none of the airbags deployed. I experienced body pain for several days following the accident. Given the nature of the collision and the damage sustained, the airbags should have deployed to protect the occupants. This raises serious concerns about the reliability of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
The air bag did not deploy, lighting was limited, the sensors did not work
Traveling 45 to 55 mph ran into four large deers and ran off road. Damage front of car. Air bag light came on but did not flate. I substain severe shoulder injury.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 kia forte. While driving approximately 20 mph at night, the headlights were very dim and the contact did not see an animal in the road. To avoid the animal, the contact veered off the road and crashed into a ditch. The frontal air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000. *dt*jb
Unknown, can’t see the road at night due to the headlights not aimed towards the right direction they seem to be pointed down and at different angles. I have ran into a ditch because of this safety hazard I also have to use my high beam in order to drive which is unsafe for other drivers on the road I am very concerned And frustrated because I have tried to adjust the lights, but they just don’t seem to be able to be corrected
My car was parked in the car port. The rear back light on the driver side caught on fire. The police and fire department were called. I was not at home at the time, my neighbors used a plastic container to put out by time the fire department got there. The firs department stated that is was faulty wiring. I am waiting for the report from police, fire department, and insurance representative. The car was parked and there was no waring lamp. Fire department had to disarm my car alarm. I will be calling the dealer after this.
My head lights keep shutting off and stop working, they have replace it twice already and again today Oct 7th 2021ir stopped working again, now I just replaced the bulbs on Sept 15th 2021 there shouldn't be any reason to change it out this soon. I keep calling the dealership about it and nothing back from them. Today I ended up not seeing and hit into a curb and smashed up the side by my tire on the passenger side, I'm very upset with kia they are putting my family in danger by not fixing it correctly.
My car was parked outside like it always is. Went for a walk and when i came back, my car had been on fire. After fire department did their investigation, it was deemed electrical. The light in my visor or the wiring to it had gone wrong. My whole front of the seats is totaled.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While driving approximately 50 mph, a burning odor was perceived without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, but the origin of the odor could not be determined. The vehicle was taken to billion auto kia (605-309-0977, located at 1400 cambell st, rapid city, sd 57701) where it was diagnosed that the blower motor connector needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. My father was in a fatal vehicle accident in which the car was going very fast and then he crashed into a building. The car then started on fire. The black box was unable to be recovered to check car function. There were no medical findings
Accelerating between 35mph and 45mph, steering wheel locked causing loss of control of vehicle. Driver let off gas and attempted brakes which did not engage. Vehicle struck guardrail on front passenger side. Vehicle then did a 180, driver side door then collided with the guardrail. Driver seatbelt did not lock, no airbags deployed. Driver sustained minor injuries including whiplash and head injury. Vehicle was traveling down a 2 lane city road. Vehicle had 46,000 miles and was just serviced by kia dealer.
I was driving home, on my way while driving I approached a curve on my way around the curve my vehicle continued to accelerate to the right as I was going around the curve. I tried to redirect the vehicle back to the left by trying to turn the steering wheel towards the left but I could not control the direction of the way the vehicle continued on. Still trying to turn the steering wheel back towards the left it kept to the right and ran off the road into a tree. Also once impact occurred i don’t remember if the airbags deployed because my head was laying flat on the steering wheel. Once the emergency services arrived I was accessed and removed from the vehicle and transported to the hospital emergency. There were no warning lights or messages what so ever ahead of the accident. A claim with the insurance was filed and also a complaint with the Kia manufacturer was filed. At this time no one has accessed the damages of the vehicle, State Farm has the vehicle at this time.

Airbag light for passenger comes on and off with or without a passenger sitting in the seat. Airbag light for the driver is on now, as well and will not turn off. The steering wheel knocks when the car is making a left or right turn and the horn has now stopped working because something is in the way and won't allow the pressure in the steering wheel. We have replaced bulbs for the tail light, brake lights and headlights multiple times a year. This can't be normal! We now keep bulbs in the car to be prepared to replace at any time. Was involved in a wreck, where a truck ran the red light and hit the passenger side of the car and no airbags deployed. This is troubling and extremely unsafe.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 kia forte. While reversing out of a driveway with a steep incline, the vehicle failed to stop. The steering seized and the contact was unable to stop or turn the vehicle. The steering wheel locked onto one side, i could not regain control of the vehicle as the brakes stopped working as well and it made a u-turn onto the same street i was driving on, hitting the curb, rolling over. I was found upside down in my car unconscious from the crash because my air bags did not deploy.

I already filed a complaint on this previously, however in 2020 my engine failed stop working. And i was unable to drive it or fix it. I lost my job, i had to get a rental car. The car lost speed while driving and would not go anymore..
I was parking my car yesterday at 7/11 and the car accelerated on it's own and crashed into a cement pillar. The airbag did not deploy. I have seen a blog where dozens of forte owners complained about the same issue, sometimes more than once. I was injured and the car needs $9000 in repairs, also i am sure my insurance will increase.
The NECU system failed and blew the engine and caused a fire no longer available for inspection. No move running. No warning lamps at all of any sort.

As I was driving on the turnpike the car engine literally just shut down on me! It could have caused a serious accident. This is the 3rd time when driving the car just stopped on its own on me! Gas tank full, oil good and battery good, but the engine is not! It gave me NO WARNING either. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I could have been hit all 3 times! Family came to help and tried to jump it and it wouldn't start so I had to get it towed. Dates happened March 28, 31st and April 6, all 2026. Also the key fog lock is defective! It works when it wants too.
