The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that the front driver's side and passenger's side air bags warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the headrest deployed inadvertently. No further information was provided. The message "Pre-safe Inoperable - Check Owner's Manual" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact of an unknown passenger's side air bag recall repair that was previously performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

Stopped at a stop sign and the passenger side seat headrest deployed. Luckily no one was sitting in the seat at the time. This car has the Neck Pro Active Front Head Restraints. The plastic that holds the headrest in place fails after time. There is a class action lawsuit against Mercedes and the manufacturer of the plastic piece Gammer I believe. This failure has caused injuries to people that have been sitting in the seat at the time of deployment for no reason. This is a safety hazard as if it goes off while driving can cause you to loose control of the car and injure anyone in the car as well as other people if you were to get in an accident with another vehicle. This should be a recall.

There was a recall on my front passenger air bag that was replaced around February 2020, based on a recall. The other day my Front Right Passenger Air Bag Malfunction Warning Signal appeared on the dash board. After bringing it into Mercedes Benz - I was notified that my Passenger Right Side Air Bag needed replacement. I was told it would cost $1,800 to replace. Shouldn't this be a part of the Air Bag Recall?

I have a 2012 E350 with less than 95000 miles and I see these vehicles were recalled in the past for their fuel tank manufacturer malfunction but my VIN number was not included. This car went numerous times to the mechanics and the fuel components fixed but it still leak gas and smells even when I do not drive the car. I spent over $15000 on this matter. This is now becoming a safety issue for me and my neighbors. I don't know what to do. Here is what happened. All began February 2023, I towed the car to an approved MB mechanics who said fixed the car. 9 month later, I brought the car back for the same issue. Strong fuel smell. The attachments for repairs will show the work done. Some repeated and recharged to me. The following year April 2024, I woke up one day with a fas leak all over my drive way and a strong smell of gas. I had the car towed for a repair cost of $7754 total. I am constantly having the same problem with the car and wanted to alert here to bring Mercedes Benz awareness to their faulty parts putting consumer lives at risk.

Recently, I have noticed a strong gas smell emanating from the rear driver’s side of the vehicle. Upon further research, I discovered that there was an open recall affecting Mercedes E-Class vehicles of the same year for a similar issue. However,my vehicle’s VIN is not included in this recall. Given that my vehicle is experiencing the same problem described in the recall, I am concerned about the safety implications and believe this matter warrants immediate attention. I would like clarification on why my vehicle is excluded from the recall despite exhibiting the same issue. Additionally, I would like to know if I am expected to pay out of pocket for repairs related to what appears to be a manufacturing defect acknowledged by Mercedes-Benz for other vehicles of the same year and model. I kindly request that this matter be escalated for review, and I look forward to your prompt response. My goal is to ensure the safety of my vehicle without incurring unfair expenses for a known issue.

The top of the fuel pump is leaking (driver rear side, under the seat) and the leaking can be seen outside of the car as a moisture on the underside of the car. The fuel filter side (passenger side, under the seat) has a small amount of fuel moisture. The current mileage on car is 76,620 miles.

The incident was not the vehicle persa but passengers riding in back seat experienced nausea and headaches. Found gas fumes emitting from vehicle. As time progressed fumes got worse and fuel mileage performance worsened. Gas consumption was extremely bad. Car was taken in for oil change and absolutely no gas leaks were found and technician showed me the under carriage of car. Nothing showing on the OBD. Afraid car will catch fire. Not driving as of today.

Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350. Driver side fuel leak was excessive. Leak caused an excessive amount of gas to spill while driving on a 600 mile long round trip to St. Louis. The fuel filter sending unit had numerous stress cracks in the plastic. A massive failure was looming. I have pictures and have documented the failure. 2184700194 was the original part and now has changed too 2184700994. A component should be easily inspected to prevent such a dangerous situation. For the past 13 all services work was preformed by Mercedes.

The fuel pump filter failed and myself and grandchildren became sickened by the fumes. Once the back seat was removed and inspected by an independent source you could see how the gas had leaked into this area. There was no warning lights or messages that had appeared. This problem could easily ignited a dangerous fire situation.

The rear subframe / axle carrier on vehicle failed. Rear subframe / axle carrier had significant corrosion / rot and large rust holes present. Also, the rear suspension parts & air shocks were seized / corroded to the rear subframe. Dealer advised vehicle was unsafe to drive.

The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350.The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle started to jolt forward. Upon shifting to fourth gear, the vehicle stopped jolting. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle jolted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that oil was leaking into the engine and the wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

Hello, A manufacturer should understand that Timing Chain is a vital component in an engine, an so should not say just tell consumer that it goes bad at a particular milage., As such in my MB E350 2012, is difficult to start the car and i think that this should be looked at. Thanks

THE CONTACT STATED THAT BEFORE AGREEING TO THE REPAIR, HE REQUESTED THAT THE MECHANIC INSPECT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR FOR A POSSIBLE LINK TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT FAILURE HAD IN FACT STARTED WITH THE DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND SPREAD TO THE O2 SENSORS AND WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT WAS THEN GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS. I recently took my 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350 to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership after experiencing corrosion of the rear subframe. The dealership confirmed and is servicing the vehicle under an active recall notice that extended the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty from 4 years/50,000 miles to 20 years /unlimited miles. After removing the subframe for repair, they observed serious corrosion of the brake lines. There had been no warnings or symptoms to alert me to any corrosion problems with the brake line prior to this. Most likely, the issue would not have been discovered if the dealership had not removed the subframe. The dealership advised me that this issue requires immediate service due to safety concerns (potential failure) as the braking system could fail while driving the vehicle. The cost to have the work done is $5800. Beyond the dealership service center, I'm not aware if brake line has been inspected by others (engineers) in Mercedes-Benz. However, this issue appears to be frequently observed in vehicles experiencing the rear subframe corrosion issue.

2012 e350 both rear brake metal lines rusted out January 2025 brakes gave out. This is definitely connected to the rear subframe rusting too.

The rear brake lines on my 2012 Benz E350 has a lot of corrosion and one of the blowout while stopping from 25mph to a complete stop. Upon further inspection, it was completely rusty in many places. Mercedes needs to address this issue because its unsafe rather danger to drive.

The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated his wife had noticed that the steering wheel was off-center and turned to the left independently. Additionally, the contact stated while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle flipped sideways. The contact's wife was able to exit the highway and pull into a gas station. The contact met his wife at the gas station. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, the failure recurred, with the front end shifted to the left and the rear end shifting to the right. The contact returned to the parking lot. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that as an independent mechanic, he inspected the vehicle and noticed that the rear subframe was corroded severely inside out and a wheel had detached. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000. The VIN was not available.

My 2012 Mercedes E350 has rear sub-frame is starting to rust/corrode and I need to replace it within 3 months. This could cause the rear end to break free and forcing the back of the vehicle to swerve while braking. My Mercedes authorized repair shop stated that similar problems have been identified in other models using same rear subframe and they have replaced them. I have 143K miles and the car is garaged year round. It will cost $5K to repair. Mercedes USA will not fix this for free while all European Mercedes group repair this for free as a defect.

Rear sub-frame rotted out and would not pass state inspection. Repair shop contacted local Mercedes dealer and was told they were not aware of a problem. However if you perform an internet search, it is a problem. Dealer had two sub-frames in stock, however they were reserved for scheduled repairs and did not know when they. My repair shop located an after market frame and the car was repaired. In addition, the repair shops opinion is the design of the sub-frame is at fault as it retains water leading to corrosion. I performed my own internet search and it is a very known problem not only with the E350 model but also others.

A state inspection identified that the rear subframe is rusted through. Per the service advisor, the failure of the rear subframe is a safety hazard because it effects steering and braking, and complete failure can cause loss of brakes. Service advisor advised not to drive the vehicle until repairs are made due to safety concerns. Vehicle failed inspection because the issue is a safety issue.

After a little research online about a possible cause, found out a weak battery would affect the power steering so, I went ahead and replace the battery. sure enough, the problem seemed to be resolved but only to comeback and this time is permanent. from reading online, I've realized, it's very common with these vehicle. Only thing, there has not been a recall on such a critical safety of this vehicle. This system even stop working while driving. may results in tragedy...

I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON AN ASSIGNMENT IN CANADA. ON MARCH 5, 2019, I WENT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM MY HOTEL PARKING LOT IN OTTAWA, CANADA ON A TRIP TO BUFFALO, NY WHEN I HEARD THE VEHICLE MAKING LOUD NOISES TOWARDS THE FRONT END AND THE ABILITY TO STEER WAS LOST. TOTAL STEERING FAILURE. THE STEERING LOCKED UP SOLID, AND TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MET WITH A HAMMERING NOISE FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, THIS OCCURRED IN OUR DRIVEWAY - HAD IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WOULD DEFINITELY BEEN AN ACCIDENT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP (THE MERCEDES DEALER IS A 1-1/2 HOUR DRIVE FROM WHERE WE LIVE) AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE ALUMINUM BOLTS HOLDING THE ELECTRIC DRIVE MOTOR TO THE STEERING RACK HAD CORRODED THROUGH AND MOTOR HAD FALLEN OFF. I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN CANADA, BUT OUR DEALER (BURLINGTON VERMONT) SAID THERE IS NO RECALL IN THE U.S.

50% OF THE TIME CAR IS PLACED IN REVERSE BACK UP CAMERA SCREEN HAS NO PICTURE JUST A BLACK SCREEN. MERCEDES BENZ OF AUSTIN RAN DIAGNOSTICS BUT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I AM AWARE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR EARLIER MODELS ON THE BACK UP CAMERA BUT RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE 2012 E350. PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 2 YEARS OR SO AGO. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM STARTING ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN ONGOING.

The key in the electronic ignition switch is not recognized causing the car to suddenly throw itself into park while the vehicle is still in motion, at speeds as high as 6 mph, per service bulletin #LI54.25-P-056472. The issue is intermittent and unpredictable and puts the driver at great risk of an accident because the car stops violently and without warning to the cars behind. The car can be put back into Drive and as soon as you start driving again, it will immediately throw itself back into park, which sometimes happens over and over again. This has put me in the position of having entered an intersection only to have my car stop in the middle of the intersection. I've been nearly hit from behind or side several times due to the unexpected and sudden stop my car made when this happened. Despite reporting the TSB to the Mercedes dealership, they would not cover the out of warranty repair because they said it's "only a service bulletin and not a safety recall." This is VERY CLEARLY a safety issue and there are hundreds if not thousands of drivers and cars affected based on internet searches of MB and auto forums.

The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E550. The contact stated that while occupying the vehicle while the vehicle was parked, the ignition switch failed to detect the key fob. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the electric steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced or reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the vehicle, but no assistance was provided. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 69,000.

The Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) will fail and cause the vehicle to become disabled. The failure of this part will leave the owner strained and unable to use any functions of the car. You can’t even put the vehicle into neutral to move the vehicle. Everything is locked. There have been numerous reports of this failure on various Mercedes Benz forums on the web. Also, many videos outlining this problem on YouTube. Yes, the problem has been reproduced by an independent repair facility. Mercedes Benz is aware of this problem regarding the ESL part. I believe they even published a TSB regarding the failure of this part. The car did not display any warning lamps or messages. The car is just dead! It’s very scary getting into your car and it doesn’t start when you turn the key. All other systems checked out on the car i.e. battery, voltage, fuses, sensors etc. Once that ESL stops working your car becomes a static display.

My car will not start and I get a message stating "Remove key from ignition" every time I insert the key to try to start the car. It appears that the ESL has failed. I have visited several MB forums and it appears that this is a common issue, regardless of car mileage. This is a factory defect that really needs to be recalled and fixed.

I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT CRANK. I CALLED MERCEDES SERVICE AND THEY SENT SERVICE TO JUMPSTART THE CAR. THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. AS I BEGAN TO DRIVE, A WARNING LIGHT STATING "POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION - CHECK OWNERS MANUAL" CAME ON. WITH CONSIDERABLE DIFFICULT, I AVOIDED THE CURB IN THE PARKING LOT AND MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO A PARKING SPACE. THE "POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION" INDICATOR WOULD NOT COME OFF EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN. THE CAR BECAME UNDRIVABLE. *JS

THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT RETRACT AFTER USE. THE SEAT BELTS ARE CLEAN AND ARE NOT TWISTED BUT DO NOT RETRACT MAKING THEM DIFFICULT TO USE AND THEY DO NOT FIT SNUGLY AROUND THE BODY. THE FAILURE TO RETRACT HAPPENS BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND WHEN IT IS IN MOTION.

Brake line is thoroughly corroded, went to a repair shop, when they brought it back down, the Subframe collapsed. Mercedes has a 20 yr warranty on the subframe so they will cover that but want another $3K to fix the brake line that was obviously tied to the same mfr issue that the sub frame was in regards to rusting. Dealer won't take any responsibility for anything but the subframe.

On April 29, 2024, I was driving my 2012 E350 Mercedes and the brakes failed upon leaving an appointment. There was less than 10% stopping ability. Fortunately, I was able to use my transmission toggles and Emergency brake as back up, if needed. I immediately stopped to pick up brake fluid and filled the reservoir which was virtually empty. Drove the vehicle home, left it parked for two hours and then tried to then drive it again but to no avail. The system had "bled" all over my garage floor and driveway. As such it was taken to the dealership on a flatbed. Estimated repair... $1,700 This follows having to replace the cargo springs due to corrosion and breakage, the rear suspension sub assembly currently being replaced due to corrosion which Mercedes acknowledged is a problem and is covering under an extended warranty. In my mind, all of this is related and certainly a safety concern, beyond the expensive repair costs already and now currently being incurred. Can you help?

On my recent visit to my trusted independent service center, which specializes in Mercedes-Benz, they noticed serious corrosion problems. There were no symptoms to alert me to any problem. Also, I never received the notice from MB so how would I know? My mechanic asked me to sign a waiver (which I never have had to do before) that stated the rear subframe was rotted completely through; needs to be replaced ASAP; and is unsafe to drive. The rear brakes lines also had corrosion. This tells me the car is unsafe to drive, and must be fixed. It seems that MB issued an "extended warranty" to cover the rear subframe, but not the rear brake lines. I contacted MB Corporate who said they 'may' offer some assistance. I have an appointment next week with a MB dealer who must provide an estimate of the damage and cost to MB for their approval before doing any work. As a result of learning what's eating my car underneath, I won't take it on any extended trips. I really am afraid of something bad happening. And it has, to many others. No one should ever have to get into a car and worry about these two safety issues. It’s very important that Mercedes-Benz recognizes its responsibility to not only its customers, but to all the other drivers on the road who can be negatively affected through accidents caused by these corrosion issues.

The car was parked in the driveway outside. In the AM when getting into the car I saw that the drivers HEAD-REST had engaged by itself during the day. There was no airbag only pieces of plastic and springs on the seat. The headrest was just hanging there and in no way could be reset. Car was taken to the dealer for repair. Extended warranty would not cover it stating airbag issue even though the headrest has no airbag. Dealer is repairing the headrest - total cost $1,800. Mercedes also does no want to cover it since the auto is a 2012. The problem was reported to Mercedes and they stated that there was no recall on the item. And that is it. Spoke to dealer who indicated that they have seen this problem before but not widespread. And that is it!! Mercedes quality is one to be desired.

The chrome handle on my driver's seat is peeling off and very sharp. It cut my inner wrist really bad last week. I searched online and found many people having the same issues. I was quoted at around $400 to fix this one little handle and I don't have that amount of money right now. This is serious danger and needs to be fixed immediately and it scares me to think of doing it again and cutting into the artery or nerves in that area of my wrist. 1) Yes, you can inspect it or I can send pictures in. 2) The risk it puts on me is cutting my wrist and/or hand, infection, stitches, pain, not being able to work, nerve damage, medical bills, etc 3) There are many accounts online of people experiencing this same problem. I'm surprised someone hasn't gotten seriously hurt from it already. 4) It has been inspected by a service and repair center that immediately told me to be very careful due to the high possibility of cutting me 5) No warning lamps or messages

THE DRIVER SEAT PLASTIC/CHROME HANDLE. IS SEPARATING FROM THE PLASTIC THE CHROME HAS BECOME A SHARP PIECE OF METAL. WHEN I REACHED IN THE CAR IT CAUSED A 2.5 INCH LACERATION ON MY FOREARM, HAD TO HAVE SEVEN STITCHES, ANTIBIOTICS AND A TETANUS SHOT.

Car won't go forward or reverse smoothly. It acts like a dead pedal then lurches. I traded pain with a safety barrier backing up when it suddenly went backwards. Also sometimes when entering the highway or passing a car it will go into limp mode. Can only be cleared by restarting car. Very dangerous.

THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND BY THE OPEN DOOR, WHICH THEN CRASHED INTO THE REAR FENDER OF AN UNOCCUPIED AND PARKED VEHICLE. VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. AT ALL OTHER TIMES, VEHICLE DRIVES NORMALLY. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER VEHICLE BRAKES HAVE BEEN APPLIED TO SLOW DOWN. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND IT SEEMS THAT THE CAR IS NOT DOWN SHIFTING OR THE AUTO CLUTCH IS NOT ENGAGING TO ALLOW DOWN SHIFT WHILE ACCELERATING. IT DRIVES LIKE IT'S IN 4TH GEAR WHEN IT SHOULD BE IN 1ST OR 2ND GEAR IF IT WERE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND AS IF THE CLUTCH WAS NOT PUSHED IN FULLY WHILE SHIFTING IF IT WERE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. AT THIS POINT THE CAR WILL ONLY GO ABOUT 10-15 MPH UNTIL ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. WHEN CAR IS RESTARTED, IT RUNS NORMALLY. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. DEALERSHIP STATES NO FAULT CODES WERE STORED AND THEY CAN NOT FIX IT UNLESS THEY HAVE A FAULT CODE OR SEE IT HAPPEN. THEY DID ROAD TEST IT, BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE THEY HAD THE CAR. THEY DID UPDATE THE SOFTWARE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND HOPE THAT MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING INTERMITTENTLY. I ASKED THAT THEY CALL THE CAR ENGINEERS AND ASK WHAT 3 -5 PARTS OR SENSORS COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND CHECK TO SEE IF THEY ARE WORKING PROPERLY, BUT THEY SAID NO. THEY WANT ME TO TRY TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT HAPPENS (NOT POSSIBLE, NO ACCELERATION) OR CALL FOR SERVICE AND LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING UNTIL SOMEONE CAN GET THERE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. Camshaft sensors and solenoid leak oil internally which then gets into the sensors electrical connector. From the the oil enters the engine wire harness through capillary action maki g it’s way to other sensors and ultimately the DME (Digital Motor Electronics). This can cause February DME to fail which in turn can make the engine stop running.

Cam adjustment solenoids leak oil into the engine wiring harness causing component failures, rough running and stalling. This problem was diagnosed and replaced by the dealer at 48k miles and has returned at 116k miles. There is a recall for models prior to 2012 and this car has the same problem. Eventually the engine will quit running at any given moment posing a dangerous situation.

THE CAM SOLENOID SENSORS ARE PICKING UP OIL, THEN IT IS BEING DISBURSED IN TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS FLOWING INTO, O2 SENSORS MAKING THE VEHICLE RUN IN A FULL RICH MODE, IT IS REACHING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT RUNS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THIS REPAIR CAN COST UPWARDS OF $8000. I HAVE DONE ONLINE RESEARCH AND IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AMONGST MANY MERCEDES VEHICLES. THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, IT WAS BEING REPAIRED BUT MERCEDES STOPPED THE REPAIR. IT COMES FROM AN INTERNAL ISSUE, NOT A FAIL TO MAINTAIN PROBLEM. I CONTACTED MERCEDES, THEY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW OF THE ISSUE, BUT THEY DID TELL ME, THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A COST OF OVER $ 5000. TO US. ONLINE SEARCHES HAVE RESULTED IN MANY COMPLAINTS BY OWNERS. REGULAR DRIVING IS A RESULT OF THE ISSUE. NOW WE CAN'T DRIVE OUT VEHICLE DUE TO FEAR OF THE OIL IN THE ELECTRICAL LINES REACHING OUR CPU FOR THE ENTIRE CAR, WHICH WILL RESULT SEVERAL THOUSAND MORE DOLLARS ON TOP OF THE REPAIR COST. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE HAS A SLOW START. WHEN IN MOTION THE VEHICLE DRIVES ROUGH, AND CUTS OFF, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS A GREAT MAINTENANCE RECORD ONLY SERVICED AT THE MERCEDES DEALER AND HAS 0NLY 54000 MILES. THIS IS CLEARLY AN ENGINEERING ISSUE WHICH WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. MERCEDES REPAIRED. THEY FOUND THE CAMSHAFT DAMAGED, HEAD DAMAGED, AND GEAR DAMAGED AND REPLACED CAMSHAFT AND GEAR ONLY. THEY CHARGED MY FOR THEIR ENGINEERING FAILURES $4874.38. FOR THIS ENGINEERING AND SAFETY FAIKURE I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE THE LOST HEALTH AND LIFE IS LOST, AND OWNERS SHOULD BE RECOMPENSE FOR THE DAMAGE.

WHILE DRIVING ON AN EXPRESS WAY IN DALLAS, TEXAS MY GPS MADE AN ERROR CONCERNING AN EXIT AND I WAS REQUIRED TO DIVERT QUICKLY TO THE LEFT TO MAKE EXIT LANE .TIME WAS 6:00 PM ,HEAVY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND ROAD AND WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE EXCELLENT AND DRY. MY MERCEDES PRE ACTIVATED A SKID MODE AND THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY A 70% CUT BACK IN ENGINE POWER .A YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SKID MODE CAME ON OPERATOR SCREEN BUT THERE WAS NO SKIDDING TAKING PLACE. I WAS HELPLESS WITH NO POWER TO KEEP UP WITH THE 50-60 MPH TRAFFIC WHILE TRYING TO GET INTO LANE .CONSEQUENTLY A SEMI TRACTOR STRUCK MY LEFT REAR FENDER /BUMPER CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY MERCEDES. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE TRACTOR. ACCORDING TO MERCEDES THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO THIS AS A SAFETY FEATURE. IF THIS IS TRUE THEN THEY ACTUALLY IN MY OPINION WHILE DEVELOPING SAFETY FEATURES CREATED ANOTHER UN SAFE CONDITION WHERE AS THE SEMI COULD HAVE RUN OVER MY WIFE AND I KILLING US BOTH. THIS WAS TRULY A NEAR MISS AND WE ARE VERY MUCH CONCERNED ABOUT IT HAPPENING AGAIN TO US OR SOME ONE ELSE, RESULTING IN A FATAL ACCIDENT, NOT JUST A FENDER BENDER. The rear subframe got separated from chassis. I was driving to work and had to hard brake to void a collision with another vehicle all of a sudden vehicle shifted to the left and I ended up on a curb. Further inspection vehicle`s rear subframe rotted out due to rust. Also, both rear brake lines from abs module to calipers are damaged due to corrosion. I ended up replacing both brake lines and did not think too much of it and now I see a lot of people complaining about both brake line corrosion and subframe separation or excessive rust, casing rear subframe to fail. It is a very serios safety issue and Mercedes should hold accountable for these failures. My vehicle is 2012 Mercedes E350 and only has 118k miles on odometer. I have attached pictures for the rear subframe for your review, but I did not take any pictures of the brake lines due to limited space to get my camera between the body and the rear subframe.

I purchased the car late April. I drove the car for three or four days and started noticing a rattling coming the front right part of the car (passenger side.). I chatted with the warranty company (SilverRock.). They asked me to take it to a Meineke auto repair facility in Olympia, WA. Meinke’s mechanic diagnosed it as a loose component involving the brake caliper. He informed me they were covering it under the warranty, & asked me to bring the car back on Wednesday as he was short staffed. I brought the car back on Wednesday, it was there all day. He called late in the afternoon and informed me they found the problem and that SilverRock had amended the claim and refused to cover it. Told me it needed new brakes for 800+ bucks. That being said it was also sold to me with gouges out of several tires. Of which I have photos. This is inexcusable it is also a safety issue.

The rear subframe of this vehicle has rusted on a seam and is cracking. I do not know if the seam is a weld or a bend in the metal. There is no corrosion on rest of the underbody. I do not know when the condition started. I noticed it upon braking. It felt as though the rear end of the vehicle was going to swing out around me. It started about three months before this report and got progressively worse. It was only noticeable when braking firmly from moderate or higher speeds, I have taken the vehicle to the Mercedes dealership and they advise the fault is not covered by warranty. A Google search would indicate that this is a problem occurring worldwide with Mercedes vehicles that use the identical sub frame to that in my vehicle.

The camshaft position sensors leak oil into wiring harness. The oil circulates to other engine sensors and the ECU(engine control computer). Oil in the other sensors and the ECU causes the car to stop operating or operate erratically while driving. a real problem. This is a safety issue there should not be oil leaking into the ECU! The mercedes dealer replaced the leaking camshaft position sensors and confirmed oil had leaked into the ECU and wiring harness on december 13,2021. They recommended replacing the wiring harness and ECU at cost of $6500. I have the replaced bad sensors. Mercedes says they have no culpability in this or a fix. The mercedes complaint number is #23264730932. The previous mercedes engine generation had the same problem and mercedes did a recall on that engine.

I HAVE A 2012 MERCEDES E350 WITH 15000 MILES. IT HAS OEM TIRES MADE BY CONTINENTAL. CONTI PRO 245/40 R18 97V. I INCIDENTALLY NOTICED ON 7/23/14 THAT ONE OF THE TIRES HAD A BUBBLE WHERE THE WALL WAS BULGING AND TIRE WAS SOFT. ON EXAMINATION OF THE OTHER TIRES, I SAW THAT 3 OF THE 4 TIRES WERE WEAK AND BUBBLES HAD FORMED. Recall exists related to a potential issue with the high-pressure fuel pump, which could lead to engine stalling and increase crash risk. My 2012 Mercedes E350 stops the engine in the middle of the road couple of times and for some reason, its stops or shut off the engine completely. The last time I was pulling out on the main road and stop right there. I made a big traffic, and I was scared because I cannot start the car. The guy stops and help me to push out of the road, but we cannot push the vehicle unless someone is inside the car. If I go out, it will automatically go on "park" and cannot push the car. When you check the dashboard the check engine light is not on. 2nd incident I bring this car to Mercedes Benz Dealership, and I told them that there is something wrong in my car, I explain what was wrong but, the guy I talk to, told me that if the check engine light is not coming on, my car is fine. I repeated that the car stops ones in a while when the temperature light is on inside the dashboard and the engine shuts off. He told me if the check engine light turns on then I bring it back. I show the code reading but the same thing he said. I left and went back home and suddenly I get stranded again; I got stock in the middle of the road for 3 to 4 minutes. I start the car and suddenly the car starts and find the nearest place to pull over. I let it call down for couple of hours and start again, the car starts and try to go back home. When I was in the interstate hwy. My car engine shut off, so I quickly pull over, but I was having a hard time to turn the wheel. I believe that this is very unsafe and should have Mercedes Dealer has to repair this issue. I research on the website that 2012 Mercedes Benz E350 have recall to a potential issue with the high- pressure pump and other things like Battery fuse relay box positive terminal and low fuel circuit.

[XXX].The engine intake manifold on our 2012 Mercedes E350 (64,000 miles) EXPLODED with enough force to bend the hood up 2 inches. It was a damp cold morning & the engine had not been started in 12 hours. The car was not locked & the key fob was nowhere close. The fuel level was under 3/4 full. This happened when wife went to get something out of the car and when she pulled the passenger door handle to open - B O O M !!!! If this happened 30 minutes later, I would have been under that hood checking the fluid levels for a trip to San Francisco. I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED!. It was towed to Mercedes-Benz of Carlsbad, Carlsbad California on [XXX] & they have not been able to identify the cause. They could replace the broken parts at the cost of $8,000 but that doesn’t fix the problem. And if it happens again & hurts or kills someone, they could be held liable. Similar intake explosions have occurred on these Mercedes engines but Mercedes is denying any knowledge even though it’s clearly a dangerous design flaw in this intake system. I am writing in regards to the 5 vehicle recalls that were for the make, and model of my car that is showing as having no recalls for. The recalls involved air bags, air bag software, fuel filter flange, and I am also wondering with the driver headrest deployment module if that is associated with an airbag module; as when I had purchased the vehicle I had found out that both my airbag modules had malfunctioned with showing the srs lights on the dash. I was told that Mercedes of Sarasota, FL had replaced the passenger airbag module by Mercedes of South Orlando. When asked for a printout verification of this repair showing to be completed; they said they couldn’t provide me with this information. As proof of the service to being completed could not be provided. I had tken my car to their to have them look into this, and the tpms sensors showing malfunctioned; communication error message, and they couldn’t figure out what the problem was causing this. I had to take my car to an auto electrician to find out the problem; that I had found out that a 100 amp fusible link had blown, causing all those problems with also the roof wasn’t working. Along with I was smelling fuel. I found out about the recall for these items after getting them repaired out of pocket by the auto electrician Mike from Peak Audio, and Electric, and as to the fuel filter flange I had to pay like $1,200 to replace as they had replaced the fuel level sending unit that include the fuel filter flange. I would like refun; still have the headrest driver side that needs to be replaced. I found out that their is an recall for this make, and model of car that had said the air bag deployment software was under recall for those vehicles; which I believe could have triggered the deployment of the head rest while I was driving; as if I had been near a car; I could have been involved in an accident. I think that this should have an open ticket for repair placed on all 2012 Mercedes E350 Cabriolet Blue Efficiency.

The contact owned a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E550. The contact stated while her husband was driving 20-25 MPH and making a right turn, the brake pedal was depressed but traveled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact's husband stood on the brake pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond and crashed into a small ditch. The contact was occupying the front passenger's side seat at the time of the incident. The contact was unsure whether there was a warning light illuminated. The air bags deployed. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the air bags. Both the contact and her husband immediately exited the vehicle. The contact's husband did not sustain any injuries. The contact stated that her left arm was deformed. The contact was transported to the Hospital by a family member. The Doctor diagnosed that the contact had sustained two broken bones on the left arm and two broken bones on the left foot. The contact underwent surgery and was scheduled for physical therapy. The contact was unsure whether a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that a field inspector would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated while driving at various speeds; when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake pedal failed to return to the original position. The contact stated that upon inspection, the brake pedal felt abnormally loose and there was a brake fluid leak present. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was lifted and was noticed that the sub-frame was rusted. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle as a second opinion. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The rear subframe is corroded and needs to be replaces - there was no prior warning and the Benz dealer stated this is something that only is evident to even the most highly trained mechanics once it is at the point of total failure. The rear brake lines are also corroded and the Benz dealer will only pay for the subframe and not the very expensive rear brake line replacement which seems to be entirely related.

My check engine light has been on for about a year, I have been told by both the dealerships here in Memphis/Collierville that as long as the light is an orange color there is nothing to worry about but it has been on consistently for about a year. I had a Diagnostic test done on [XXX] by Dr. Benz Affordable Mercedes Benz care and it was revealed that ME control module, oxygen sensor, engine wiring harness has oil intrusion all throughout. I would hate to attempt to drive my vehicle and all of a sudden it is severely damaged because of this. I feel this may be a very costly expense and would like some assistance in taking care of this matter. I love my car and have not had any problems, and hope to have it several years more. I have video available that shows significant premature corrosion of the rear subframe and brake line. The safety of others will be put at risk at the time of failure. Failed subframes can lead to loss of control. This problem has been identified and the part inspected by a Mercedes dealership. There are no warning lamps or messages to alert the driver that failure is imminent. This was discovered in the process of the car being serviced for an unrelated emissions recall. Many Mercedes owners report having severe rear subframe and brake line corrosion issues on message boards. Some reported their cars unexpectedly sway and drift to one side while breaking. In multiple European countries, Mercedes is apparently aware of the problem and is voluntarily replacing the rear subframe for free. However, in the USA, Mercedes is quoting their customers approximately 6,000 to 7,000 to rectify the issue. Without NHTSAs intervention, dealer service departments will continue to profit from the failure of this critical component. Customers unprepared to pay for such a significant repair will defer maintenance until they can afford to address the matter. Some of these cars will be dumped at trade in and passed on to unsuspecting consumers. Those consumers may be your friends and loved ones. We need government to step in and protect the public interest. “If not you, then who? If not now, when?”

Recently, I took my 2012 Mercedes E350 4Matic for an oil change and after inspecting the vehicle, I was informed by my mechanic that the car had a rusted sub-frame, with visible holes near the right rear wheel. I was told this needed to be immediately addressed as it was a safety issue. He explained that if not fixed, the wheel could detach from the vehicle while driving and could result in a crash or serious injury/death. My mechanic indicated that Mercedes Benz of America is aware of this issue and they do not offer any assistance with the necessary repair. However, I did some research online and learned that if you own a Mercedes, have this same issue and also live in Germany, you can take it to a dealer for a free repair. I find it outrageous that this is not a valid safety recall and even more so, having to pay nearly 3K for the repair in order to make the car safe to drive.

1. Backup camera will periodically display a blank screen when shifted into reverse. System has to be shutdown and restarted to get the camera to work again. Tends to happen on rainy days when camera most needed. No accident has occurred as a result to date. Date of last occurrence is an approximation. 2. Distronic Plus system (Adaptive cruise) will disengage unexpectedly when coming to a stop in traffic or if in stop and go traffic. The system beeps once and a red light flashes, but this is easily missed if radio is playing or driver is distracted. This has almost caused several roll forward rear-end collisions, prevented only by quick driver intervention. Neither issue has been addressed with the dealer since the vehicle is out of warranty.

THE INTERIOR DASH VENTS (SHINY ITEMS) ARE REFLECTED UNTO THE SIDE MIRRORS MAKING IT DANGEROUS WHEN CHANGING LANES BECAUSE ONE CANNOT BE SURE WHAT ONE IS SEEING IN THOSE LANES BECAUSE THE REFLECTION IS VERY PRONOUNCE. THESE VENTS AND OTHER DASH ITEMS ARE ALSO REFLECTED ON THE WINDSHIELD, ALMOST LIKE AN OBSTRUCTION WHEN ONE IS DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE ADJUSTABLE FRONT SEATS, ARE SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT ONE IS CONSTANTLY ADJUSTING THE SEAT SETTING WHILE DRIVING. THESE ISSUES CAN CAUSE QUITE A DISTRACTION AND ARE OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS. WHEN WE REPORTED THESE ITEMS TO THE DEALERSHIP, MBCHARLOTTE, AND MBUSA, THEY TOOK NO ACTION. IF THERE WAS EVER AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE, AND THE CAUSE AND EFFECT WAS RELATED TO THESE ISSUES AS CONTRIBUTING FACTORS, HOW CAN ONE EVER PROVE THAT THEY CAUSED THE ACCIDENT OR CONTRIBUTED TO THE CAUSE. ONE WOULD NEED A WHOLE LOT OF EXPERTS TO SHOW THAT THE MANUFACTURER BUILD IN THE PROBLEM BY NOT ADDRESSING IT, OR TESTING FOR THE EFFECT THAT THESE ISSUES CAUSE THE DRIVER('S). ONE OF THE DEALERS PRODUCT EXPERT, SOLUTION TO THE REFLECTION PROBLEM WAS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS WHEN DRIVING TO GET RID OF THE REFLECTIONS. THE INDIVIDUAL WHO SOLD US THE CAR, [XXX], TELLS ME, NOW, THAT HE NOTICES THIS REFLECTION ON ALL THESE CARS. THE DEALERSHIP IS INDIFFERENT ABOUT THESE ITEMS BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION. EVEN THOUGH THEY, IN OUR EYES, ARE SAFETY ISSUES. HOPEFULLY NHTSA CAN LOOK INTO THIS AND CAN DO SOMETHING TO RESOLVE IT.
