Both driver and front passenger headrest airbags have deployed for no cause. This is is the second time this has occurred on both sides. No collision occurred in both incidents. First time it occurred under warranty and Mercedes fixed the issue. This time it occurred again and the car is not in warranty. Without functional headrest airbags the safety is greatly compromised for the occupants of the car and can lead to fatal incidents. It seems like a recurring problem with this model as it has occurred twice over 9+ years and both times there was no collision etc.

RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR AIRBAG NHTSA ID 19V010. I HAVE TRIED FOR 2 YEARS TO GET IT REPLACED. THEY SAY IT IS STILL ON HOLD. NO PARTS.IT APPEARS THEY ARE NOT THAT CONCERNED ABOUT THIS. I THOUGHT AIRBAGS ARE NECESSARY IN A ACCIDENT TO SAVE LIVES. THE CAR IS NOW 7 YEARS OLD. ARE THEY WAITING FOR IT TO DIE FIRST?

Badly corroded rear brake lines requiring replacement on a rust free car. Noted by the dealer as recommending replacement at approximately 70,000 miles: THE REAR BRAKE LINES ARE SUPER RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE REAR BRAKE LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THEY RUPTURE OPEN AND ALL BRAKING ABILITY IS LOST. Driving home on a 30MPH street, had the brake light go on and felt the brake petal sink to the floor when I had to stop. Very concerning was grateful I wasn’t going faster. Cautiously made it home, and when I took it to the shop, they diagnosed that the brake lines had corroded. This is a huge safety concern and should be a recall as it could be fatal in certain circumstances.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 109,550. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was approximately 300,000.

I've had the car for 3 years and its all stock. It has 38,500 miles and today out of no where the driver side speaker in the door started making a crackling and popping noise. Smoke started coming from the speaker and filled the cabin. I quickly pulled over and turned off the car, because the smell of plastic burning was horrible. I was immediately alarmed by this and let the car cool down. I started driving again and it started again crackling and alot of smoke coming from the speaker. I called my mechanic and he said that that car had a known problem for a short and others had complained about their speakers melting due to overheating from the amplifier. He quickly searched the fuse box numbers and had me pull fuse #67 that disarmed the amp and speakers but allowed me to drive the car again. There is no warning and this is extremely dangerous due to a possible car fire. I am just thankful that my wife or children were not driving this car when this happened. I researched the problem more and I can't believe there has not been a serious recall for those amps that came with the car.

While driving in stop and go traffic I heard a loud popping noise from the dash area and smoke started filling the cabin. I called a DC area dealer service dept and was told to exit the DC beltway and un plug the audio amplifier in the trunk left access door That stopped the popping noise and the smoke .

While driving in traffic there were loud popping and crackling sounds from the rear speakers. Then smoke appeared and an acrid burning smell. The smoke and loud sounds continued after I pulled over and turned the key off. I removed the fuses for the sound system and it remains inoperable. I went home and searched for this problem on the web and discovered that it is a common problem on 2014 Mercedes E350's. Despite this being cited as a common problem by owners, there is no recall. I called Mercedes-Benz USA and they reported that they were not aware of this problem. This event was very alarming and could have caused an accident when the smoke was coming into the passenger compartment. I believe it qualifies for a recall.

While cruising , car stalled after it beeped intermittently for a few minutes . On checking , the shop found that ignition switch assembly module has failed & stopped working . Strangely , the Mercedes-Benz dealer on Montgomery Road , Cincinnati refused to fix this , though the car was initially towed to them . This is suspicious action on the part of Mercedes-Benz dealer . The dealer acted as if they do not want this problem to become public .

Fuel smell in the rear of the car, it was checked by a indepent mechanic and the tank is leaking fuel. They said is the Fuel filter which is usually faulty in this model. It seems the car can catch fire according to the mechanig. No warnings of the leaking in the dashboard, only the strong smell.

I have a 2014 E350 Coupe. It has a major fuel leak that is immensely dangerous and could cause immediate harm/death if I did not remove the seat and inspect the fuel line. There is a recall on the 4 door model for reference. 15V-792 / 2015110006 Recall Summary A fitting that joins the fuel hose and fuel feed line may develop a leak or completely disconnect. This can cause a fire hazard, fuel odor and potentially stall the engine while operating the vehicle. The fuel line fitting connecting the fuel hose and fuel feed line may be flared improperly, causing a possible leak or disconnection of the fuel line. Dealers will install the correct fuel line free of charge to resolve the concern. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2014 E350 and E350 4Matic sedans manufactured June 4, 2014, to July 9, 2014. The affected vehicles were built with a fuel feed line that has a single flare fitting instead of a double flare fitting.

Fuel Leakage from the top of the Fuel Tank, leaking underneath the back seat. I'm told there was a past campaign to fix these issues in the Sedan Mercedes Benz E350. The problem was found by the fumes in my garage where I park the vehicle. My smoke and carbon monoxide alarm kept going off inside my house, and I had to call the fire department to help me identify where the fumes were coming from. No warning lamps or messages on the vehicle are present. When I called the dealership they told me there hasn't been a recall on the vehicles. I have had a diagnostic with the dealership.

Purchased and installed OEM diesel fuel filter made by Mann part WK820/17 or 171103 on [XXX] and drove for 9500 miles. On [XXX] I checked fuel filter as I could smell diesel fuel near the car for the last 2 weeks. Fuel filter heating element/H2O sensor was cracked and seeping fuel once fuel pump was turned on. Unit is available for inspection Safety issue-leaking fuel No inspection by police, manufacturer. I did contact RM EUROPEAN Auto Parts in Colorado who sold the part and am waiting to hear back. No warning lamps or CEL illuminated, only the smell of fuel with top of filter and engine coated in diesel fuel. (Tried to upload photos but "Upload Files" button just goes blank.) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). The contact stated the fuel appears to be leaking from the electrical heating element. possibly where the rubber has split open.

The subframe of my vehicle is prematurely rusting, creating the risk of unpredictable, catastrophic failure. This failure could cause loss of control of the vehicle and severe injury and/or death. The vehicle is available for inspection. My independent mechanic is aware this is a known problem with these vehicles, and has been monitoring mine, and his mother’s, for damage. By August 2023, my vehicle will fail Pennsylvania’s safety inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by any entity other than my mechanic. There is no warning, from any system of the vehicle, of the deterioration, extent of deterioration, or impending failure of the subframe.

Driver's side rear subframe has rusted to the point metal is split open. This was found during routine maintenance service at dealer. While braking the vehicle pulls to the left. If not replaced, wheel can fall off.

The 2014 E350 4matic was diagnosed by the Dealer with a cracked rear subframe. When I questioned that is this common with a 2014 model EClass they were not sure. Calling MB USA they felt there weren't any complaints. When I called 9 different dealers in the USA looking for a NEW subframe for the E-Class, the common response was we are receiving many calls about replacing the subframe due to issues / cracked frame/rust, etc. They were all surprised and felt this is odd that this model would have so many subframe issues. MBUSA denied any issues as far as any structural issues. Very odd that my 2014 with approx 100k miles (garaged all the time) has subframe issues.

The Rear Subframe Unit of this 2014 E-Class E212 is diagnosed as rusted and rotted out on this 8 year old vehicle. The poor quality of this part from Mercedes Benz is known to be an underlying, hidden risk factor to the stability of the vehicle. This is a hidden/underlying area of the vehicle, not visible to the driver/owners, that without cause, can break free from the main frame structure of the vehicle and create a stability factor when cornering and braking, causing swaying of the rear and owner panic when abruptly stopping. I had this vehicle serviced at Catonsville Mercedes-Benz since I purchased the vehicle on April 14, 2017. On my last visit on December 19, 2019 having only 40,051 miles. No physical evidence know to me during this inspection. The vehicle has been hardly used. My next service was done on July 28,2022, having only 49,250 miles. That's just 9,299 miles and just over 2 years later, no harsh weather conditions, and the dealership has confirmed that this subframe has rotted out and rusted nearly thru. The service writer informed me that this is a serious condition that can break apart and lead to a very serious accident. Depending on certain driving conditions, if this breaks apart unknowingly, can be catastrophic. Mercedes Benz advertised greatly the ultimate safety features of its products, only to be realized, that it has used poor quality galvanized steel on a major structure of its framework to save cost. Mercedes provides a 3 year/36,000 mile and a 5 year 50,000 mile powertrain warranty which neither covers this. Galvanized steel has a life expectancy of 6 to 8 years resulting in deterioration, which Mercedes knowingly intends to pass this repair cost to the owners. This vehicle was inspected by a certified authorized Mercedes Benz dealership. Warning lights, message sensors are not installed on this part. No other parts surrounding this component show any signs of rust, rot or deterioration. I feel unsafe to drive or place family within.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and steering assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

While driving on a local road, my wife lost control over the steering wheel of our 2014 Mercedes-Benz (MB) E350 sedan (the instrumental panel showed "Power Steering Malfunction: see attached photo)". It was a very dangerous situation, but she somehow managed to find a place to pull over and call me. It could've been much more dangerous if this occurred on highway. We found some information about the Power Steering Failure recall and our 2014 E350 was included as an affected car. The problem we encountered is identical to the nature of the recall, so we don't understand why our car is not included. The dealer recommended me to call MB Customer Service, which recommended me to contact NHTSA, so I'm contacting it. I hope you help us drive safely by adding MB 2014 MB E350 into the recall list. We need the car desperately as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your help.

As I went to have my vehicle inspected, the mechanic advised me that it could not be inspected, that the car is totaled because the rear subframe is all rotted and the brackets holding the trailing arms were broke off and said that this was a common problem with these vehicles.

The vehicle was inspected during an alignment at a dealership. The sub-frame has rotted out. The car was swaying to the side. I believe this car is dangerous to drive. The repairs are around $5000.00 dollars. There should be a recall on this Mercedes Benz E-Class 350 SUB-FRAMES. It is not safe to be on the road. The dealer is no longer around. The manufacture of this car and so many other Mercedes Benz with the ROTTEN RUSTED SUB-FRAMES should be held responsible to pay for the damages and or replacements. Before someone DIES on the road. A recall for this vehicle needs to be done ASAP! Please HELP! I have a picture of the rotted sub-frame and paperwork .Not sure how to upload Why are other countries recall for free and not the USA?

--Rear sub-frame broken. Part is available upon request. --Rear of car swerved when turning and breaking, probably due to control arm dislocation. --Dealer is aware of problem and has in fact replaced many sub-frames. --The dealer has inspected the sub-frame and determined that it is broken. --No warnings prior to failure.

I was driving on the highway and braked for traffic ahead of me. My car swerved hard to the right; however, I got it under control and brought it into the Mercedes dealer as soon as they had an opening. Upon examination, the dealer told me that the sub-chassis had corroded and broken away, damaging the torsion bar and denting the gas tank. A search online quickly showed that this is a common issue with Mercedes, and in some countries, they have issued a recall. The dealer quoted $5,250 to fix the car. This easily could have been a tragedy on the road with a less experienced driver behind the wheel. Mercedes must issue a recall for the inspection and repair of all affected vehicles.

When I took my vehicle to the dealership for service to have it inspected, I was told that it would not pass inspection due to the corrosion of the rear subframe. They told me this is a serious safety issue and that they are seeing a lot of Mercedes, especially in the last year and a half, that have this issue. The repair will cost me $4,500, Mercedes does not cover the cost even though it is a major structural issue. The subframe should last the life of the vehicle which is only 8 years old/60,000 miles and has been garage kept with all recommended services done by the dealer. My life and and the life of others is at risk as if the subframe fails, it causes loss of control of the car. Mercedes will not issue a recall. Mercedes owners don't even know to look out for this problem. Why do they have air bag recall and braking system recall but not a recall for this as Mercedes Benz in the UK does??

The camshaft adjuster failure. Though I'm told safety is not in immediate danger, it's a very expensive fix that can cause other issues if left unpaired. It began subtly with strange noises, hesitation during start-up, inconsistent performance. I take meticulous care of this vehicle. Regular service. Genuine parts. Always handled with care. And yet, here I am, facing a repair bill that is not only shocking, but unjust. Especially for this to be a common problem. Not to mention the potential for severe engine damage if left unresolved. I’ve since learned that I am not alone. Many loyal Mercedes owners have faced the same issue; often at relatively low mileage, with little to no warning. This is not an isolated defect. It is a systemic issue with significant implications, not just for the vehicle, but for the trust your customers place in your brand. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I feel let down. Mercedes-Benz has always held a status. A great looking car. A great engineered car. And while this is a great looking car, it has a serious engineering flaw. German and Japanese engineered cars hold the standard and this must be fixed. A goodwill repair assistance, or a broader recall initiative would show some integrity.

Engine camshaft position sensors are leaking oil which has "wicked" into the engine wiring harness and ECU. This is a common safety issue on this year and I would like to urge Mercedes to issue a recall as oil contamination within the electrical system can lead to a host of other safety concerns.

I brought in my car to M1 Mercedes, Fremont, CA for service after “check engine” light was on and running rough on idle. I told them I started using ethanol (E85) fuel recently but my car is spec for that. The shop replaced spark plugs and ignition coils but the issue didn’t go away. While the car is parked overnight at the shop garage, on Jun 21, 2022, around 11pm, the engine exploded. The incident was caught on camera by the shop. The intake manifold was blown open. The car was tolled to Fletcher Jones Mercedes Fremont, CA (authorized Mercedes dealer) for diagnostic. However, they didn’t offer any solution or attempt to find out what caused the explosion. They offered to replace the intake manifold for $1200. I declined as I believe this is a serious safety issue. What happen if it explodes again? Since the cause of the explosion is not found and address. It could happen again anywhere, anytime. Fletcher Jones Fremont charged me $265 for labor and I tolled my car back home. I attempted to contact Mercedes USA via their website to alert them about this problem and seek resolution. However I never hear back from them. I hope you can help to look into this serious safety issue. Attached please find the blown intake picture and report from M1 Mercedes. I have the explosion video as well.

CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IN 2016 AND HAS ONLY BEEN SEEN BY MERCEDES DEALERSHIPS FOR SERVICE. IN 2019, A OIL SEEPAGE WAS NOTED DURING ANNUAL MAINTENANCE HOWEVER NO REPAIR OR DIAGNOSIS WAS PERFORMED. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR ONLY HAD 36,000 MILES ON IT. IN NOV OF 2020, THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR ANNUAL SERVICE. THE CAR NOW ONLY HAD 40,000 MILES BUT WAS GIVEN A 50K SERVICE. AT THE TIME OF SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE COVER AND HAD ALSO CONTAMINATED THE DRIVE BELTS. REPAIRS TO ENGINE COVER, BELT AND TENSIONER CAME TO $3000+. DEALERSHIP HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME WITH LIMITED DRIVING, THE CAR HAD SUCH SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS NEEDED. A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR HAD ALSO FAILED. FROM MY RESEARCH THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN, HOWEVER SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A CAR BEGINNING ONLY 5 YEARS AFTER OF MANUFACTURING WITH LESS THAN 37,000 MILES.

THE DEALER (MERCEDES-BENZ OF WEST HOUSTON 1025 HIGHWAY 6 N, HOUSTON, TX 77079 (281) 492-5800) HAVE THE VEHICLE AND WERE PERFORMING THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,579.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with a fuel tank leak. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V792000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD BEEN MOVED FORWARD USING THE LEVER OR HANDLE ON THE UPPER SEAT BACK SIDE TO MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD TO ENABLE A WOMAN WHJO HAD RECENTLY HAD BILATERAL KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY TO BE SEATED IN THE BACK SEAT. WHEN THE SEAT BACK WAS ERETURNED TO ITS UPRIGHT POSITION IT MOVED BACK FORCEFULLY INTO THIS WOMAN'S KNEES AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL HER HUSBAND REACHED THE SEAT BACK LEVER RLELEASED IT AND MOVED THE SEAT FORWARD. THIS CAUSED HER PAIN SHE SCREAMED AND FLAILED ABOUT WITH HER ARMS DAMAGING A REAR WIND SCREEN IN THE CAR. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION. IT WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY. THERE IS NO SAFETY SENSOR. THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE OUTCOME IF HER HUSBAND HAD BEEN SLOWER OR IF THERE HAD BEEN A SMALL CHILD OR A PET IN THE WRONG PLACE.

The heater temperature is not consistent and keeps fluctuating. When I set the temperature to 80°F, it initially blows hot air, but after about 10 seconds, it starts blowing colder air. To get consistently hot air, I have to set the temperature to the maximum.

I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 40 (SPEED LIMIT 55MPH, BUT 45 MPH DUE TO CONSTRUCTION) WHEN I BEGAN HEARING RATTLING IN MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE SPEAKER, THEN CRACKLING, A BURNING SMELL AND THEN SMOKE FILLED MY VEHICLE. I ENDED UP DRIVING TO A NEARBY WALMART PARKING LOT WHERE I LEFT MY VEHICLE UNTIL IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. SPEAKERS DO NOT MELT AS A PART OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT BECAUSE OF POOR WIRING, ADHESIVE AND/OR CRAFTSMANSHIP. MY SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME TODAY AND CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SPEAKER HAD IN FACT MELTED AND MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE SPEAKER IS ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF SUFFERING THE SAME FATE. BOTH NEED REPLACING. My vehicle is having the same issue as follows in quotes from a Mercedes recall Campaign No.2017020018 (attached) : Replace Steering Column Module. Here is the description of the problem from that Mercedes recall "This Recall Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (‘DAG’), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain E-Class vehicles (213 platform) the column-mounted shift lever module might become inoperative due to possible damage to the internal circuit board. As a result, the vehicle might not move forward or rearward with the shift lever as selected by the driver. However, both the auto-P function and automatic parking brake will continue to operate as intended and prevent the vehicle from moving forward or rearward. If the vehicle does not move forward or rearward with the shift lever as selected by the driver, there is an increased risk of a crash" In my own words, on an intermittent basis, I could be in reverse, move the steering column shifter to drive, but the vehicle remains in reverse. Or, I could be in drive, put the steering column shifter in reverse, but the vehicle remains in drive. This problem is intermittent. It could happen many times in one day, and then not happen again for many weeks.

I own a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350, 4matic. that yeah car has approximately 64,500 miles on it. I recently Took it in for service and was advised that the rear subframe has a whole rusted through on the left side. The dealers advice was to replace the rear subframe. I was advised that it is not presently a safety issue, but it was going to be a safety issue as the rust continued. I was dubious about this advice, so I took the vehicle to a second dealer, who also identified the rust issue in the same area. Both dealer representatives advised that they had seen these issues before with the 350 class, and that there had been many complaints about them. I am aware that MB has replaced subframes on this group of cars in Germany and in Canada already—this is a well-known issue. The repair will cost between 3,800-5,000, but my real concern is that the subframe will fail and cause injury or death before it can be repaired. I do not believe this to be ordinary wear and tear as the car is relatively young, and rust is a very controllable problem with current vehicle technology. I am concerned that the scope of this problem is widespread, as both dealer representatives said that they had seen many cars with this issue. It needs to be recalled and repaired before people are injured or die.

The subframe on this vehicle is broken I took it to an independent dealer and they said they have never seen anything like this on a car this old. The Mercedes dealer told me that it would cost me $5000 for them to fix it about 3 weeks ago but said it's rusting and beginning to crack. But never said it was something that needed to be addressed immediately. I want to report a structural issue with the Mercedes rear subframe rusting. Three Mercedes dealers told me that it is common but there is no recall. The mechanic told me that if this is not corrected the back wheel will fall off while you are driving. There are no warning lamps. Please help.

The car was brought in for scheduled maintenance and they told me that my rear sub frame rusted out and had snapped. Car is only 7 years old, always garaged, basically a main part rusted out. Mercedes prides itself on durability and safety. There were no warning lights, alarms, nothing. Whenever I braked the rear end of the car would slide to the left and I had to try and adjust accordingly. Prior to bringing the car in for its maintenance I was reluctant to drive it on highways and at higher speeds. Now that I am aware of the problem, had the rear of the car given out while I was on a highway, I had the potential to roll over and possibly blown up had the gas tank been impacted. I researched the issue on Google and found many instances of others having the same issue, with the same part, luckily no one appears to have been killed as yet. As I mentioned this was never picked up during all the scheduled maintenance work, nor state inspections, all handled by this dealership. The dealership is in the process of replacing the part and all work associated with that replacement. I don't know if they kept the part or tossed it out, but will ask. No one else has seen the car or rusted part other than the dealership. I'm also sending you a copy of the letter I sent to he dealership and Mercedes-Benz Home Office.

I’m getting a pre-safe inoperative message on my dashboard all the time, the Mercedes dealership is telling me the driver side seat belt needs to be replaced. This is a safety issue. This vehicle has 40,000 miles on it and it’s a family car that was extremely expensive this is unacceptable, Mercedes should pay for the seat belt replacement.

Motor mounts and transmission mounts continue to fail at intervals or 13,000 miles and again at 16,000 miles. Vibration of transmission is scary. Mercedes has replaced the mounts many times. They refuse to install new Transmission mount now after only 16,000 miles on the replacement. I have contacted MBUSA and they are telling me , they will not help with these substandard parts. Very well-known issue.

I own a 2014 E350 mercedes benz the transmission was recalled a while back but long story short my car has all the same exact problems a lot of e350 owners are having with the conductor plate witch causes rough shifts between 1st and 3rd gear car went to Mercedes’ for more testing now I’ve got a 13000 dollar estimate and problem is even though the vin doesn’t show it was recalled for that reason the problem is spread world wide cuz my car only has 60000 miles and every one’s Mercedes’ is giving same exact problems not just mine so it has to be a recall

Rear subframe snapped under hard braking on the highway and caused my to veer into leftmost lane. It was terrifying and a severe hazard on the highway. Had vehicle towed to my house. I lifted and inspected my car and found the rear subframe was rusted and a crack straight through. The rear brake lines were also severely corroded and are very close to failing. Front brake lines have no corrosion. It seems that the rear subframe and rear brake lines have the same anti rust coating which are clearly not sufficient.

The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an oil change, the contact was informed that the rear driver's side control arm was severely corroded and had detached from the subframe. The contact was also informed that the failure caused premature tire wear on both rear tires. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the subframe and rear driver's side control arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

2014 E350 with 41,000 miles. Rusted subframe and was informed that it represented unsafe and risky driving conditions. Reported this to manufacturer as, apparently, it is a very common problem with certain Mercedes classes. No recall and very expensive fix ($4500)! Not my idea of a safe and reliable car, as Mercedes likes to advertise. Consumers should not be responsible for manufacturing defects/ poor quality of materials used ..... and should definitely not be exposed to unsafe conditions when operating their vehicle!

On 11/24/23 Mercedes Benz had replaced my subframe which was part of a safety recall. When I arrived home after picking up my vehicle, there was a loud bang from under the vehicle. I immediately called the service department and told them about what happened and also complained that the steering wheel was cocked to the left and pulling in that direction. My service advisor John advised me to bring it back the next day which I did. They never told me what caused the loud bang, but they did say another front end alignment was done. The vehicle still continued to pull and the steering wheel was still off center. On [XXX] I took my car to Mr. Tire for a tire rotation because the car continued to sway and jolt when going over bumps. It also made a popping noise when making a sharp turn. Then on [XXX] as I was driving, the car pulled or slid to the left. In order to keep from crashing into another vehicle, I pulled the wheel right causing me to run over the medium and almost crashing into a building. I was extremely shook up and in disbelief. My vehicle is not that old that a key structural component of the car should break at the weld/attachment point. I have video of this defect. My electric power steering failed. It often resets and can be unpredictable when it wants to fail again. It’s an intermittent problem that local dealer tried to fix with a software update but did not work. I was told I need a new steering rack at $5-6k which is unacceptable for any vehicle that has been maintained it’s whole life . My car is 8 years old with 100,000 miles with full service records I feel like this is a premature failure of the electric power steering

This issue is pertaining to a 2014 E350 Mercedes Benz. The brake system is in jeopardy. The subframe has rotted and cracked. Mercedes Benz is aware that this is a problem for many of their vehicles. While the right side of the subframe is rusted and beginning to crack, the left side of the subframe is totally rusted and busted out. The vehicle is routinely brought to the Mercedes Benz dealership for maintenance visits. It was making cracking sound in 2021, we brought it in to be serviced for that reason on 11/23/21. This issue was not noted at that time. Mercedes Benz indicated the solution was a lube. The issue persisted post visit. The car is infrequently driven because the primary driver teleworks. We returned the car to the dealership for an assessment 8/6/2022 due to ongoing concerns for our safety. The first indicator that there was a problem was the unfamiliar cracking sound as if the car could snap in half, then hard pulling to the left when braking. There was never a warning light or any other indicator on the dashboard or otherwise. The owners initiated the visit to the Mercedes Benz dealership. Mercedes Benz reported that they did not see the rust when they assessed the car for the cracking sound in 11/2021, furthermore that the rust and deterioration happens rapidly. Had the right side of the subframe also rusted and rotted out, this could have resulted in a total loss of control over the vehicle and been needlessly catastrophic. Warning indicators necessary and routine free inspection are warranted. Repairs for the subframe alone will cost more than $4000. This is a hardship. Further, it's unclear if the malfunctioning rear left caliper resulted from the rotted subframe. The vehicle appears to be in otherwise pristine condition. Mercedes Benz has never indicated there were any issues with the vehicle's subframe despite routine class service visits at the dealership. An internet search confirms this issue is not uncommon and possibly negligible.

Car was being driven at secondary road speed (~40MPH). Engine suddenly began to spudder and misfire terribly. Came to a stop light engine was idled roughly. Accelerated from stop, when check engine light turned on. Car went into limp MODE at a very dangerous rail road crossing and left turn intersection. Without acceleration, family was in danger of being hit by train and incoming traffic. Took car to Mercedes mechanic. Faulty parts were the Camshaft Position Solenoid valve, ignition cool. Short circuit in one part caused blown ignition fuse and cascading mechanical problems and safety risks. Repair cost so far is $1,100. Concern is the placement of the faulty part. It is exposed to high heat in the motor compartment and poses a fire hazard as well as a personal injury hazard to the occupants and driver.

I WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY 26 AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH GETTING READY TO MERGE ONTO HIGHWAY 526, WHEN THE ENTIRE DIGITAL WARNING PANEL LIT UP AND THEN WENT DEAD, WITH THE ENGINE INOPERABLE LIGHT COMING ON AND ASKING ME TO REFER TO THE OWNERS MANUAL. ALL POWER WAS CUT FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO COAST TO A VERY SMALL STRIP OF MEDIAN WITHOUT BEING HIT BY ANY OTHER VEHICLES. THIS IS A VERY HEAVILY TRAFFICKED AREA AND CHARLESTON BEING A PORT CITY I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THE TRUCKS THAT WERE AROUND ME WERE ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ME. IF I HAD BEEN IN ANOTHER SITUATION, SUCH AS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR TRYING TO CROSS OVER A TWO LANE HIGHWAY THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC TO SAY THE LEAST. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN ISSUED INVOLVING THE THROTTLE VALVE ACTUATOR, TOPIC # LI54.18-P-058597, VERSION 9. IN OCTOBER OF 2013 I LEASED A 2014 MERCEDES E350. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13 AND UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE ON 12/26/13, I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 15 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND UP TO THE CENTER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE AT MY HOME ON 12/25/13 THIS LARGE 15 INCH CRACK DID NOT EXIST. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and occupied, the contact heard an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine that lasted for approximately 3 seconds when first started. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the contact was informed that the failure was a common issue, and that the vehicle operated as designed. The contact stated that the failure might be related to the timing chain or the lifters. The contact stated that there were no issues while driving the vehicle, only whenever the vehicle was first started. The contact stated that after the engine had warmed up to operating temperature, the sound was no longer heard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

2014 Mercedes e350 these models as well as those from2009-2015. Have recall on subframe but the brake lines rust out and deteriorate as mine has now done. If you go on line you tube etc. you will see the issue and all complaints. I had my subframe replaced under warranty at Mercedes of flemington. About 1 1/2 years ago. While it was being serviced they asked me if I wanted to replace brake lines for $1200 since they had this part out job would be easy. So this means Mercedes is well aware of the deterioration of these line the man at mb said the metal was inferior and this is result. On YouTube it was stated that individuals took mb to court or accountability for this but results were negative. Yet problem exists. If you breaks fail while driving it is very dangerous. Also I believe there is a recall for gas lines for my model 2014 manufactured from June and July. The brake lines on my vehicle are rusting as is gas tank. This also is dangerous condition should accidents occur the lines because compromised with rust can much easily rupture causing fuels to spew out causing possible explosive condition. Suspension Rear Sub-frame rusted through, rear Lower control arm disconnected from rear sub-frame due to rust/corrosion. It is available for inspection. While braking at highway speeds the car fishtailed and I almost lost control of the vehicle. This has not been confirmed or inspected by any service, Insurance or Police entity. No warning lights, messages etc. Brakes: Rear brake lines are severely corroded in the same area as the rear sub-frame. Electrical System: Battery continuously discharges and is dead after 5 hours.

My 2014 Mercedes started getting a fault light with multiple performance issues. Mercedes dealer where I can carry out my routine maintenance diagnosed the issue to the electrical harness being contaminated with engine oil and it needed to be replaced on the engine because of a known issue whereby oil from the upper camshaft sensors seep into the harness and makes its way to ECU and causes possible failure of the engine control, which could lead to shutting down or worse, incorrect engine timing which would lead to incorrect detonation at the compressors and subsequently engine failure at critical operational phase. Driving on a highway approximately 65 MPH. Had to break fairly hard due to unexpected traffic. When breaking, my car fishtailed and I thought I was going to hit the vehicle in front of me. I immediately took my car to my independent, Mercedes-certified repair shop. My mechanic informed me that it was a problem with the rear subframe. I then took it to Mercedes for an inspection. They confirmed that the rear subframe was rusted and needs immediate repair. I was told not to drive the vehicle as it is extremely unsafe. Mercedes is aware of this problem. There was a class action lawsuit filed in February of 2023. Mercedes supposedly informed owners of the potential problem, but I was never notified. I only became aware of this dangerous subframe problem as a result of this incident.

The rear subframe of my vehicle failed at the lower trailing arm mounting point (passenger side). This resulted in the car swerving to the right when I applied pressure to the brake pedal, which was worse at higher speeds. This had been getting progressively worse for a few weeks until I almost spun out on the highway while braking. The next day, I randomly got a flat tire on the rear right side while driving at 30MPH near Valley Street in Providence. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. I immediately replaced the tire and brought it to Midas on Mineral Spring Ave in North Providence, RI, so that they could inspect the vehicle. They discovered that the rear subframe was almost completely disconnected at the lower trailing arm mounting point due to excessive rust that had wore a hole in the part from the inside-out, which was not visible at the time of the last inspection. Midas immediately informed me that the car was unsafe to drive more than the distance back to my house. They also informed me that 3 tires needed to be replaced, including the flat, as a result of excessive wear on the inner wall and the inner edge of the tread. None of these three tires had reached the wear bars yet, and Midas confirmed they would not have had to be replaced if not for the subframe defect. I had the car towed to Mercedes-Benz of Warwick after Midas replaced the 3 tires (RL, RR, FR) because I heard that Mercedes had recently extended the warranty period for rear subframes (only months after a class action lawsuit was filed about the issue). Mercedes inspected the vehicle and confirmed the issue, and is currently replacing the rear subframe under the new extended warranty program for rear subframes. However, they refuse to reimburse me for the other issues directly caused by the corroded rear subframe (which they admit liability for when they replace the part free of charge), stating they have been instructed by corporate that related issues are not covered.

The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that the parking brake release failed to release as needed. The failure recurred several times however, the contact could not recall how the parking brake was released. On one occasion AAA released the parking brake however, the contact was unsure how the AAA mechanic was able to release the parking brake. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the parking brake, and the brake cable had failed to disengage as designed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but had not yet responded. The approximate failure mileage was 36,400.

While driving down the road at 60mph, I hit the brakes to slow down. I heard a pop and thunk from the rear of the vehicle. I thought it was some boxes in the back of my car and forgot about it. I then brought my car into the dealer for an engine computer update and during the inspection they found that the passenger rear control arm mount broke away from the sub frame and that the rear brake lines were heavily rusted. They quoted a new rear subframe and brake lines. If I was on the freeway and this happened or I had to take evasive maneuvers I most likely would have crashed. The mechanic told me the weld broke where the control arm mounts to the subframe. He inspected the rest of the vehicle and everything looks good. On a less than 9 year old vehicle the subframe should not have rusted enough to break. Especially on a safety issue like the suspension and brakes. Mercedes should have done a better job with their welds and with their rust proofing especially on safety components.

I brought my car into Mercedes on 9/13/2022 and was told my brake lines and subframe were rusting. It's a 2014 with only 80k miles on it. I was told I had a year before it needed to be replaced/addressed. I brought the car in again on December 12, 2022 and they said on a scale of 1-10 the subframes and brake lines were a 7 and were a safety issue. After doing some research, I am clearly not the only owner of this model dealing with this issue. This is safety issue and should be recalled. Subframes and brake lines should not rust so quickly.

Vehicle is 9 years old, with 73000 miles. Dealer Service has advised that the rear subframe and brake lines are rusting and need to be replaced as a safety issue. Cost quoted was $8800. Mercedes agreed to pick up the cost of the parts and the dealer offered to split the installation cost, bringing my total down to $3150. On-line research reveals this is a common problem across several product lines and has been an issue for 20+ years. Failure at this point could lead to uncontrolled movement of the the rear suspension structure, the rear suspension members, wheels, and electronic sensors in the ABS causing loss of control and brake failure.

Have purchased a 2014 mercedes E350 59k miles. This vehicle has an issue as so do many Mercedes with their rear subframes rotted out at the control arm bracket which causes the rear link/thrust arm to detach from the subframe/axle carrier and posses a danger when breaking due to the rear spindle assembly flexing throwing the wheels out of alignment and could be at risk for a car crack. This vehicle has already been in a minor crash as a result of this issue. I personally have not brought it to Mercedes to get it diagnosed inspected or the police law enforcement but there are many cases online on the Mercedes Benz forums to which this has also happened to. This issue applies to other Mercedes models ranging from 2010 all the way to 2016. Videos of the exact vehicle brought to an independent shop available upon request.

Intermittently, while driving several of the electrical systems will fail including the lane keep assist and abs. When this happens, it also causes the instrument cluster to rapidly change speeds, making the vehicle unsafe to operate as the driver is unable to tell what speed they are going, which can become extremely hazardous since this happens at random. The issue has been diagnosed to be a faulty Radar Sensor in the rear bumper, however the specific part has been on backorder since February 2022 and Mercedes-Benz has shown no signs of urgency with resolving this issue. I have a video of the ongoing hazard that I can submit as well, it's just too large to attach to this form.

Mercedes Benz had a previous recall Campaign # 2009100001 which affected vehicles until 2012 and mine is a 2014 model E350. It has the same issue with Engine severely misfiring and jerky on the road as if it is going to STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY while driving and cause a SAFETY RISK for my family and others on the road. Specific component is Oil leaks from transmission wiring harness and ECM connector. The leak is from camshaft hall sensors and transmission drain plug. Mercedes Benz dealer in Pleasanton, CA has confirmed the issue after I paid $218 for diagnosis.

Mercedes Benz E350 2014 - Panoramic Sunroof rattling and squeaking noise/sound: This issue has been reported by many online, and it is a well known problem with E350. It starts with a little bit of squeak and metallic rattle noise here and there, and then after a year or so it is almost happening all the time as you drive the car. Dealer states that Sunroof Frame bolts have to be retorqued and loose bolts which rattle around have to be put back on. Estimated cost $712. If not a safety risk causing Pano sunroof to eventually fly off, it should definitely be a recall as many E350 owners have reported the same issue, and it is a manufacturer defect.

FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS WHEN I PUT MY 2014 E350 SPORT IN PARK IT WOULD JERK FORWARD. NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT BEING A PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR INTO MY NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY AND WENT TO TURN AROUND AND JUST AS I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, THE CAR PROPELLED FORWARD DIRECTLY INTO HER TREE. IF THE TREE HAD NOT BEEN THERE MY CAR WOULD HAVE WENT INTO THE FRONT OF HER HOUSE. I AM THANKFUL THAT I AM JUST SHAKEN UP AND A LITTLE SORE. I AM ALSO THANKFUL THAT I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR DURING THIS FREAK EVENT AND THAT IF HAPPENED WHERE IT DID BECAUSE THE 2 OTHER TIMES THAT I WAS IN MY CAR THAT DAY IS WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND I WOULD HAVE DONE MAJOR DAMAGE TO MYSELF AND POSSIBLY SOMEONE ELSE. AT FIRST I BELIEVE MY SHOE GOT CAUGHT ON THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THIS COULD BE THE ISSUE AS I WAS APPLYING IT TO THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR PROPELLED FORWARD. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I ATTEMPTED A HEAVY ACCELERATION TO GET THE CAR UP TO TRAFFIC SPEED. TWO TIMES IN THE PAST 60 DAYS, THE CAR SERIOUSLY MALFUNCTIONED WITH MULTIPLE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS AND THE MAIN TEXT "PRE SAFE FUNCTIONS LIMITED" ACCOMPANIED BY A TOTAL LOSS OF SPEED CONTROL. THE ACCELERATOR BECAME 100% UNRESPONSIVE AND I HAD TO COAST TO AN EMERGENCY LANE. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DANGER IN BOTH INSTANCES AS I HAD TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO GET TO SAFETY. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THE EXTERNAL SENSORS WERE NOT OBSTRUCTED BY DIRT OR SNOW- WHICH HAS PREVIOUSLY CAUSED THE PRE-SAFE FUNCTIONS LIMITED MESSAGE. I BELIEVE THAT THE MULTIPLE ERRORS INDICATED ON THE DASHBOARD ARE ALL ERRONEOUS TO THE CORE ISSUE OF A SUDDEN AND TOTAL LOSS OF POWER UPON HEAVY ACCELERATION. THE RESOLUTION WAS TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK, PUSH THE IGNITION BUTTON AS IF TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, WAIT AND RESTART. THE CAR OPERATES NORMALLY UPON RESTART. NOTE THAT THE ENGINE APPEARED TO ALREADY BE OFF PRIOR TO SHIFTING INTO PARK. IT IS AS IF THE HEAVY ACCELERATION KILLED THE ENGINE. THIS ISSUE HAS POTENTIAL FATAL CONSEQUENCES IF THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT OF THE LANE OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC-- AS I WAS IN. A LESS EXPERIENCED OR PANICKED DRIVER COULD EASILY FAIL TO HANDLE THE SITUATION AND GET REAR ENDED AT HIGH SPEED AS THE CAR CAN ONLY BE RESET BY GETTING IT INTO PARK AND RESTARTED. SIMILAR BLOG POSTS ONLINE REPORT THE SAME WITH OTHER MERCEDES VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR FOUR MONTHS AND IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE. SEEMS LIKE A SOFTWARE/ELECTRONIC ISSUE CAUSING THE MECHANICAL ISSUE TO ME. VERY DANGEROUS.

MY CLAIM # IS10691110 THE LANE CONTROL DOES NOT FUNCTION CONSISTANTLY. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU CROSS A LINE, THE REAR BRAKE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY APPLIES BRINGING THE CAR BACK TO THE CENTER OF THE LANE, OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T. I DEMONSTRATED THIS TO THE MAINTENANCE MGR. WITH NO SATISFACTION. I'VE DISCUSSED WITH A CASE MGR ON SEVERAL TIMES, WITH NO SATISFACTION. I'VE WRITTEN THE PRES OF MERCEDES ON TWO OCCASSIONS, WHO REFERRED MY CONCERN BACK TO THE SAME CASE MGR. WHO SAYS IT IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED,IN SPITE OF THE FACT I DEMONSTRATED TO THE DEALER MAINT. SUPERVISOR THAT IT DOESN'T.I ASKED FOR A REGIONAL PERSON TO RIDE WITH ME SO I COULD DEMONSTRATE THE INCONSISTANCY OF THE WAY IT FUNCTIONS. I WAS DENIED MY REQUEST. NHTSA SEEMS TO BE MY ONLY HOPE FOR GETTING MY SAFETY CONCERN RESOLVED FOR ME AND ANY OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS DEMONSTRATED ON STATE RT. 33 IN DUBLIN OH. THE CAR HAS A ECO SYSTEM WHICH MAKES THE ENGINE STOP WHEN YOU COME AT COMPLETE STOP TO SAVE FUEL. WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THE CAR STARTED WITH A HUGE JERK AS IF THE GEAR BOX IS BROKEN. NOW IT IS GIVING TWO DIFFERENCE MESSAGES: 1. AUXILIARY BATTERY MALFUNCTION 2. PRE-SAFE FUNCTIONS LIMITED (SEE OPERATOR'S MANUAL) THE CAR IS JURKING HEAVILY. I TOOK IT TO MERCEDES DEALER IN PLEASANTON, CA. THE SERVICE AGENT ASKED ME IF I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM THEM. I TOLD THAT I DID BY AN S550 FROM THEM BUT NOT THIS ONE SINCE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SPECIFIC FEATURE WHICH I NEEDED HENCE I WENT TO SAN JOSE MERCEDES BENZ WHO HAD THE VEHICLE WHICH HAD ALL THE FEATURES OF MY CHOICE. SHE THEN TOLD ME THAT IT IS PRETTY SAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TIME AND SLOT TO CHECK THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT CHECKED. I TOLD THEM THAT "AS LONG AS IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE, I AM NOT WORRIED, HOWEVER, TO ME IT IS QUITE UNSAFE". DUE TO THIS ISSUE, I WAS PARKING THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT OF 76 GAS STATION, THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED WHEN I APPLIED THE BREAK IN THE PARKING LOT. I WANTED TO PARK IT RIGHT SO AS I PULL MY FEET FROM THE BREAK, THE CAR JURKED AND HIT THE FRONT GUARD FROM RIGHT SIDE TO THE FRONT PARKING (CONCRETE STOPPER) STOPPER. I HAVE TO SHOW IT TO THE DEALER DURING MY APPOINTMENT ON WEDNESDAY.

WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET LOOKING FOR AN ADDRESS, A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED SOMETHING LIKE "LANE GUIDANCE SYSTEM INOPERATIVE". SUBSEQUENTLY, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE MORE THAN ABOUT 3 MPH. WE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE, NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LANE CONTROL FEATURE FAILED TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAITED LONGER THAN SIX WEEKS FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE CONCERN WAS TO BE ESCALATED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. CRUISING AT 65 MPH THE ESC LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER. IT NO LONGER RESPONDED TO THE ACCELERATOR AND REQUIRED THAT YOU PULL OFF THE ROAD, COME TO A STOP, AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES ONCE AT 35 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD; ONCE AT ABOUT 20 MPH MAKING A TURN AND AGAIN CRUISING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AT ~50 MPH. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT, SINCE A FAILURE OF THIS TYPE WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR TRYING TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE COULD CAUSE A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 11/27/13. ON 12/2/13 PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND SUDDEN DROP TO THE CAR. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND LOOKING TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED WE NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL HAD DETACHED FROM THE CAR. POLICE WERE NOTIFIED RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE ROAD. MERCEDES BENZ EMBRACE WAS NOTIFIED DIRECTLY AFTERWARDS AND INFORMED AS TO WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TO TAKE A BOLT OUT OF EACH REMAINING WHEEL TO RE-ATTACH THE ONE THAT CAME OFF TO LOAD THE VEHICLE ONTO THE FLAT BED. FOUR LUG BOLTS WERE MISSING. WE DID FIND A PIECE OF A BROKEN BOLT LAYING ON THE GROUND NOT FAR FROM THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MERCEDES BENZ IN MEMPHIS. I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED TO SAVE THE LIFE OF OTHER DRIVERS, HAD THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE INTERSTATE WERE I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 70 MPH ALL OF US SITTING IN THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD AND NO ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE.
