EXTERIOR LIGHTING

My 2024 Cayenne is outfitted with the LED HD Matrix headlights. The low beam lights "when adjusted to specifications" only project 30-40ft down the road. This is very dangerous not being able to see adequately in front of the car especially where I live which have many deer. I'm told this is partially because the US does not allow full HD Matrix functionality. Porsche should not sell vehicle which do not function properly in the USA>

The backup lights of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe when the car is put into reverse are extremely dim, and do not adequately highlight what is behind the car. I learned this the first time on September 8th when I tried to back out of my friend’s narrow windy tree lined driveway at night. Something that usually took a few minutes took more than 15 minutes because I could not see where I was going. I took my Cayenne to Amityville Porsche Service and was told the car is “working as designed.” I also escalated it to Porsche's national customer service organization sending them pictures of my new Cayenne in reverse backing up and a Porsche Macan loaner in same place. While the person acknowledged there was a major difference, they said the Cayenne was working as designed. I am concerned I will not see someone behind the car or hit a tree or obstruction. I currently cannot go to my friend's with fear of hitting a tree. I have tried to upload pictures showing a marked difference, but it is not working on your site. The upload box just disappears. Porsche needs to improve the back up lights. please! Happy to send you pictures.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The rotary volume control knob on the center console of my 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe detached during normal, routine interior cleaning while the vehicle was stationary. The knob lifted off the control shaft with minimal contact from a standard handheld vacuum nozzle. This indicates that the retention mechanism of the control knob is insufficient and may represent a manufacturing or design defect. A loose or detachable interior control is a safety concern because it distracts the driver from the road when attempting to adjust audio, alerts, or climate menu functions. The control knob is part of an interface that the driver must use while driving, and if it unexpectedly detaches or becomes loose, it can impair the ability to safely manage vehicle settings. The issue was reported to the Porsche dealership and Porsche Cars North America. Both declined warranty coverage and classified the problem as “customer damage,” despite the failure occurring under normal usage conditions and without misuse. A properly secured interior control knob should not detach during light interior cleaning, and this may indicate a broader quality-control issue affecting similar vehicles. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. The problem is reproducible because the knob no longer attaches securely to the shaft. I am reporting this to NHTSA because an interior control that detaches under normal use may distract drivers, impair safe operation of infotainment and climate systems, and may indicate a defect in the design or construction of the control assembly.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

As I was making a turn onto another avenue, and accelerating to blend into traffic flow, dashboard messages suddenly appeared 1)"Engine control error, driving still possible, see dealer." 2)"Active lane keeping not available, driving still possible, service required" 3)"Adaptive Cruise Control not available, driving still possible, service required". Adaptive cruise was not engaged at the time of the error. The car lost almost all power, despite saying "driving still possible"; cars behind me had to brake hard as my car would only go about 7-10mph tops with accelerator firmly depressed and engine began to run very roughly. I coasted to shoulder of road, took video of error messages, turned car off and restarted car which cleared messages and car regained normal operation. I was glad this happened in-town and not when merging on a highway. This is not the first time the car has issued sudden warning messages stating certain systems had failed only to be cleared by restarting the car. I have taken the car to the dealer before to have them research the issue but they say errors cannot be replicated. However, this was the first time Engine control message posted and was the first time the car lost power and put me in danger of not being able to control the car's speed in traffic. I have lost faith in the car's control systems. I can live with lack of cruise control or lane keeping, but I cannot tolerate sudden lack of power than can cause an accident. This is my 3rd Cayenne, and unfortunately on this model, the electronics are ruining an otherwise well designed vehicle.

Car was purchased new 063023. Prior to purchase dealer told up car is due for a software update. At purchase, we got a piece of paper stating car was due for " a COMPREHENSIVE " software update and we could delay taking delivery. We decided to take delivery. But, what we were not told then was that Porsche Group, Porsche NA, under the direction of their owners, Volkswagen Group - Germany, was not providing owners with owners manuals for their new 2024 cars that would be getting the updates. Our paper manual references "See Digital' or "Digital" more than 300 times. Through either the car PCM or an App or Online, owners are suppose to be able to get Digital Content to show how to operate the car. So far, we have not been given access to our "Digital" manual. We've opened 2 cases with Porsche NA, no's 8000069845 and 44, made numerous calls to C/S for Porsche who directs us back to the dealer , who is unable to find any digital content and says that Porsche has not installed it in the car and none is available. Porsche tech support is unable to locate the content in the car, online or in the app. We are requesting all applicable Owners Manual info. so that we can safely operate our new car. Porsche NA refuses to give us access to the 'Digital' manual for our car. Subsequently I was given documentation which showed that the dealer was specifically directed to not make available to purchasers of new cars the digital manual. I fail to see how a manufacturer is allowed to sell cars w/o providing operator manuals? in each of the uploaded .jpeg files there is suppose to be a Manual icon. There are none... And also shows App not available in our area
