The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen CC. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the air bag warning light illuminated, and all the buttons on the steering wheel became inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.

TAKATA RECALL. VW WILL NOT REPLACE THE RECALLED AIRBAG. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR. I CALLED MANY TIMES AND GET MANY NOTICES IN THE MAIL TO GET IT REPLACE. UPON CALLING THEY (VW OF ONTARIO, SAN BERNARDINO AND MORENO VALLEY INCLUDING THE CORPORATE LINE. THAT THERE ARE NO AIRBAGS AND THE MANUFACTURE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS.

TAKATA RECALL. I TOOK MY CC FOR RECALL ON THE AIRBAG IN VW DEALER IN COUNTRYSIDE, IL.THE REPLACE THE AIRBAG AND GIVE ME THE CAR BACK WITH AIRBAG ERROR ON THE DASHBOARD.AFTER THAT THEY SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO CALL FOR APPOINTMENT COME BACK WHEN IS AVAILABLE, PAY THEM $140 FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND THEN THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY AIRBAG.THEY WANT ME TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH OUT AIRBAG.

AFTER A RECALL ON AIRBAG WAS DONE, TWO WEEKS LATER I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE A AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WAS TOLD ITS CONTROL MODULE FOR PODS ALL, WHICH COSTS $2,357.68. THIS MODULE CONTROLS THE AIRBAGS WHETHER OR NOT THEY GO OFF IN AN ACCIDENT. WELL MINE WENT OUT WITHOUT EVER BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 76K MILES AND VW TOLD ME IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER AIRBAG RECALL AND THAT PART IS ONLY COVERED UNTIL 36K MILES. THIS SUPER EXPENSIVE SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT NOT BE PUT UPON A CUSTOMER.

A HEAVY JERK AND BAG WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST-3RD GEARS. TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES WHILE MOVING BUT PARTICULARLY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED IN ORDER FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BECOME FULLY OPERATIONAL AGAIN. THERE IS ALSO A HESITATION OR TIME LAG WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THE VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC DSG TRANSMISSION. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF A 2010 CC THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPANY'S POSITION WAS TO DO NOTHING. THIS VEHICLE HAS 2-3 OTHER RECALLS ON IT AS WELL. THIS IS A MECHANIC ISSUE THAT CAN OCCUR AT ANY MOMENT AND POSSESS POTENTIAL HAZARDS WHEN IN MOTION IN ANY DRIVING CONDITION (HIGHWAY OR STREET). I WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP REPAIR CENTER THAT THE CAR REQUIRES A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION COSTING UPWARDS OF $5,000. AS STATED THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND RESEARCH INDICATES THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE HAVE HAD THE SAME MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE END RESULT OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. YOU ASK WHEN THIS HAPPENED, HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A PARTICULAR DATE BUT CONTINUOUS.

CAR HAS REPEATEDLY HAD ISSUES SHIFTING INTO THE PROPER GEAR. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE, A LOUD CLUNKING CAN BE HEARD AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SWITCHES TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO ENGAGE ANY GEARS THEREAFTER WITHOUT THE CAR FIRST BEING RESTARTED ENTIRELY. AFTER RESEARCHING AND REACHING OUT TO VW OF AMERICA, IT SEEMS MANY OTHER OWNERS OF VWS WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES, SOME OF WHICH HAVE BEEN RECALLED PREVIOUSLY BY VW, INCLUDING 2010 VW CCS SIMILAR TO MINE. VW OF AMERICAN HAS FAILED TO SEE MY CAR SHOULD FALL WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE ALREADY ISSUED RECALL AND HAS ADVISED ME TO FILE A REPORT HERE. I AM CONCERNED THIS ISSUE WILL POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND COULD BE LIFE THREATENING. THANK YOU.

DSG TRANSMISSION: THE CAR HAS BEEN "SLIPPING" WHILE DRIVING, WILL SLIP INTO NEUTRAL AND FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN STATIONARY, SOMETIMES WON'T GO IN REVERSE, JUST FLASHES R, WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERABLE AND THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE CORRECT GEAR. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE OR FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH PACK FAILED. VOLKSWAGEN OF SANTA MONICA, CA (2440 SANTA MONICA BLVD) WAS CONTACTED, BUT REFUSED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.

THE DEALERSHIP SAID PCV VALVE WENT OUT AND CAUSED REAR MAIN SEAL TO BREAK, WHICH IS THE REASON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IS NOW LEAKING OIL. THE PCV VALVE APPEARS TO BE FINE, NOTHING IS STUCK, NOTHING CRACKED, THE GASKET IS NOT DAMAGED EITHER. THE CAR NOW HAS 80K MILES ON IT AND IM STUCK WITH $1800 REPAIR BILL FOR THE REAR MAIN SEAL.

ENGINE KEEPS STALLING, HAD FUEL PUMP REPLACE PER 4TH RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE CAR STILL STALLS, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HAVE TWO KIDS IN THE CAR. THE CAR WONT GO IN REVERSE LIKE A NORMAL CAR BC IT STALLS TOO, I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK OFF TO BE ABLE TO REVERSE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SMALL RAMP ON IN A PARKING GARAGE, THE CAR STALL AGAIN. NO ONE IS ABLE TO HELP ME AND VOLKSAGEN KEEPS TELLING ME MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I KEEP TELLING THEM IT COMES ON WHEN MY CAR STALLS! I FEEL LIKE IM IN A DEATH CAR, I RATHER WALK INSTEAD OF DRIVE MY VOLKSWAGEN AND VERY FRUSTRATING THAT I HAVE TO PAY THIS LOAN WHEN THE CAR CONSTANTLY STALLS ON ME. AFTER BEING PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A SLIPPED TIMING CHAIN. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS ENGINE DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE BELT TENSIONER.

THE TIMING BELT TENSIONER FAILED WHILE DRIVING. LOST POWER AND REQUIRED A TOW. DAMAGED VALVES, WARPED HEAD AND PISTONS WAS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS APPEARS TO BE PROBLEM FOR THE 2.0 ENGINE AS I'VE READ THAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MANY OTHER OWNER'S. VOLKSWAGEN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE REPAIRS.

I AM A U.S SERVICE MEMBER STATIONED OVERSEAS. I WILL BE SERVING OVERSEAS UNTIL NOVEMBER 2021. WHILE DRIVING ON THE AUTOBAHN WITH MY FAMILY, I GOT ON THE LEFT LANE TO PASS A VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. WHEN I HIT ON THE ACCELERATOR, OUT OF THE BLUE, MY VEHICLE SEEMS TO LOSE POWER AND THE EPC CODE ON MY DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING. THE VEHICLE STARTED CHOKING AND SLOWED DOWN INSTEAD. IN CONFUSION AND THE LOUD HONKING FROM THE VEHICLES BEHIND AND NEXT TO ME, I TURNED MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND SWITCHED TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP IN GERMANY AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND TAKATA AIRBAG BUT IT COULD ONLY BE DONE IN THE STATES. I CONTACTED OMSC AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT VW AMERICA. WHEN I CONTACTED VW AMERICA AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY SITUATION, I WAS INFORMED I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2021 WHEN I RETURN TO THE U.S. I AM WORRIED FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY FAMILY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

AROUND 8/8/18 I POPPED MY HOOD TO GIVE A GUY A JUMPSTART & SMELLED GAS. THOUGHT THAT WAS AS ODD SO WITH THE HOOD OPENED I STARTED THE CAR. WHEN I RETURNED TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD I NOTICED A STREAM OF GASOLINE COMING OUT OF THE TOP OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (BOSCH MFG: 06H127025N SKU: 3649). THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE RETAINING CLIP ON THESE FUEL PUMPS AT THE TOP OF THE CONNECTOR ARE KNOWN TO BE WEAK AND GIVE OUT CAUSING LARGE FUEL LEAKS. I'VE NOTICED WHILE RESEARCHING REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT SOME MANUFACTURERS USE BOLTS RATHER THAN A THIN RETAINER CLIP THAT GIVES OUT. AFTER FINDING THIS LEAK I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE GAS CONTINUES TO SPEW OUT EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS OFF, AND AT TIMES STOPS THEN STARTS AGAIN. WHICH COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL FOR THE CONTROL MODULE THAT PLUGS INTO THIS PUMP & STATES IT COULD CONTINUOUSLY RUN, WHICH IS BAD ENOUGH BUT THEN ADD IN THAT THE PUMP THAT IS ALWAYS RUNNING IS KNOWN TO LEAK FUEL, VERY DANGEROUS.

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 17V509 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER 20AE SUMMARY ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THERE COULD BE AN INTERRUPTION IN ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY, RESULTING IN A DRAINED BATTERY AND/OR A NO START CONDITION, OR CAUSE A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. RECALL STATUS RECALL INCOMPLETE REMEDY REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE AND RELOCATE IT WITHIN THE VEHICLE. I HAD MY CLOCK SPRING REPLACED LAST YEAR DUE TO THE RECALL, THEN HAD MY AIR BAG REPLACED A MONTH AGO. THE RECALL FOR THE CLOCK SPRING STATED THAT THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT MAY CAUSE THE CLOCK SPRING TO FAIL. BUT SINCE I HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED BEFORE THE AIRBAG I AM APPARENTLY NOT SUBJECT TO HAVE ANY FAILURE SINCE IT WAS A NEW PART. WELL GUESS WHAT HAPPENED MY CLOCK SPRING SURE ENOUGH FAILED 1 MONTH AFTER THE AIR BAG WAS REPLACED. I GUESS VW DID A GREAT JOB MITIGATING THAT DISASTER.

STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEFECTIVE - MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED AFTER STARTING THE CAR, THEN THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SHUTS OFF. MECHANIC CHECKED FOR FAULT CODES AND SEES 02823 REQUIREMENTS FOR LOCKING STEERING COLUMN NOT MET, AND 02861 ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK CHECK SUM ERROR. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL OF OTHER 2010 VW CCS OVER THIS ISSUE, BUT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. THE SYMPTOMS OF THE ISSUE SEEM TO BE EXACTLY THE SAME. THIS WAS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY EARLIER IN THE YEAR, BUT NOW IT HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY TIME I START THE CAR IN THE MORNING.

VEHICLE MAKES A GRINDING AND CREAKING SOUND FROM STEERING ASSEMBLY. I AM AWARE OF SEVERAL OTHER VW/AUDI MODELS (A4, CC, PASSAT, JETTA, GTI) EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS REFUSED TO PUT OUT A RECALL OR FIX THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY OR GOOD WILL. AS PER DEALER RECOMMENDATION, IF THE ISSUE GOES UNFIXED COULD RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO POTENTIALLY LOSING COMPLETE STEERING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE IS BARELY 5YRS OLD AND LESS THAN 70K MILES. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL ONLINE POSTS IN FORUMS FROM DRIVERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR IF NOT MORE CATASTROPHIC INCIDENTS WHERE THEY LOST COMPLETE STEERING CONTROL (FOUND IN VARIOUS VW/AUDI FORUMS). WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO LEFT OR RIGHT, THERE IS A GROAN, GRINDING OR WHIRRING SOUND EMITTING FROM THE STEERING ASSEMBLY; THERE IS ALSO THE OCCASIONAL POPPING SOUNDING FROM EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT, DEPENDING ON DIRECTION AND ANGLE OF STEERING INPUT. THERE IS ALSO A CREAKING SOUND THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM THE RIGHT / PASSENGER WHEEL WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW TO MODERATE SPEEDS. WILL ALSO EXPERIENCE VIBRATION OR NOTICEABLE FEEDBACK IN STEERING WHEEL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (50MPH +) SIMILAR TO TIE-ROD END LINKS GOING BAD. OR WILL FEEL NOTICEABLE FEED BACK WHILE TAKING A SLOW CORNER WHEN WHEEL IS HELD OR TURNED TO LEFT (AS IN GETTING ON OR OFF AN EXIT RAMP). I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH VW BUT THEY WILL NOT RESOLVE OR HELP CONTRIBUTE TO THE REPAIRS CLAIMING THAT VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, STEERING SYSTEMS SHOULD NOT FAIL IN SUCH AN EARLY STAGE OF A VEHICLE'S LIFE UNLESS WORKMANSHIP AND QUALITY ARE SUB-PAR.

DEALERSHIP RECREATED ISSUE AND DIAGNOSED THE MECHATRONIC UNIT WHICH HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER DSG TRANSMISSIONS IN THE PAST. (2007-2009) WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED JUNE OF 2009, BUT THAT MODEL HADN'T BEEN RECALLED. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING FASTER. I BOTH MY 2010 VW CC IN 2017 AND A YEAR AGO AND I'M HEAVING JERKING OR BUCKING DURING STOP AND GO OR A DELAY IN POWER WHEN STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL. IT'S GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT I REALLY HATE STOP AND GO TRAFFIC; I FEEL LIKE I'M DRIVING AN OLD CAR WITH ISSUES AT THE MECHANIZATION UNIT OR AT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I KNEW IT'S ABOUT AN ISSUES AT THE MECHATRONIC UNIT VALVE. IT BUCKS AND SHAKES LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO STALL. I'M FINDING MYSELF RELUCTANT ABOUT HAVING PASSENGERS IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF SHEER EMBARRASSMENT. IT IS ALSO VERY PROBLEMATIC FOR MANEUVERING AND PARKING THE CAR BECAUSE IT CAN BE DANGEROUS AND EVEN CAUSE ACCIDENTS. IT HAPPENS MAINLY IN STOP AND GO WHEN PARKING/TRAFFIC. HOW SERIOUS DOES THE PROBLEM NEED TO BE FIXED IN ORDER FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE UNIT AS A RECALL? BEST REGARDS.

I LEASED THIS IN VW CC SPORT 2010 AND THEN PURCHASED IT FORM VW SO I WAS THE ONLY OWNER TO DATE FOR THIS VEHICLE. SEVERAL TIMES SINCE OWNERSHIP THE BATTERY HAS DIED CAUSED BY SEVERAL REASONS. THE DOORS WERE ABLE TO OPEN BUT NOT THE TRUCK. I PULLED DOWN THE BACK/REAR SEAT TO PULL THE EMERGENCY RELEASE HANDLE IN THE TRUNK BUT COULD NOT REACH IT SO I HAD TO CRAWL INTO THE TRUNK TO PULL THE HANDLE. THE TRUNK SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE OPENED MANUALLY WITHOUT ANY POWER/ELECTRICITY NEEDED. I AM PRESUMING THIS MAY BE A DEFECT IN WIRING DIAGRAM/SCHEMATIC THAT CAUSES THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE MAY ALSO BE A SAFETY DEFECT AS SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT BE PHYSICALLY BALE TO CRAWL INTO THE TRUNK TO PULL THE EMERGENCY RELEASE HANDLE TO OPEN AND RETRIEVE ITEMS NEEDED.

OF COURSE, THERE WAS. I THEN HAD TO PAY FOR A 2ND TOW FROM THAT SHOP TO VW. THEY FIXED THAT RECALL..THAT I NEVER EVEN GOT A LETTER NOTIFYING ME OF THE RECALL. VW FIXED IT. FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND RELOCATED ON JULY 18TH, 2018. HOWEVER, ON AUGUST 3RD, 2018, WHILE DRIVING ALONE IN THE #4 LANE OF THE FREEWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. NO WARNING. NO CHUGGING. THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS ENOUGH TRAFFIC FOR THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO SLOW DOWN TO AVOID ME. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON WHILE DESPERATELY TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO TURN BACK ON. THANKFULLY IT DID WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO GIVING ME JUST ENOUGH TIME TO CUT ACROSS THE HIGHWAY TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO INFORM THEM OF WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY WERE PERPLEXED AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP IF THE ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T FLASHING, WHICH AT THE TIME IT WASN'T. THAT DEALERSHIP TURNED ME AWAY AND TOLD ME I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO MY REGULAR DEALERSHIP. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 10 MORE MILES BEFORE MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START. VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING OR PULLING OUT FROM A STOPPED POSITION. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT DOES THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. MY DAUGHTER HAD IT STALL OUT ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE GIVING IT GAS TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE SITTING THERE AND CALLED 911. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED BUT PUT HER IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP AND ELECTRICALLY THAT WAS ISSUED A YEAR AGO -- HOWEVER THERE ARE NO PARTS TO FIX IT THEY SAY. WE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY PARTS. I HAVE CALLED VW AND THEY SAID THAT IF I TOOK IT TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS THEY MIGHT COULD HELP WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CODE INDICATING THAT THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM EXISTED. HOWEVER, I EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL SAYS IS HAPPENING. I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND FEEL THAT VW IS PUTTING OUR FAMILY AT RISK ON A DAILY BASIS. WE NEED THIS PART AND REPAIR DONE ON OUR CAR IMMEDIATELY. MY VEHICLE HAD COMLETE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE IN MOTION, I LET IT ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT IT OFF BY TAKING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. AFTER RESTARTING IT IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE, I WAS ONLY 5 MINUETS AWAY FROM HOME. SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO WORK IN MORNING RUSH HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY , SAME SITUATION ACCRUED. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE TO RESTART IT WORKED FINE. I THEN WENT ON THE VOLKSWAGEN WEBSITE AND RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM, COMING TO FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED, ON HIGHWAY, SIDE ROADS. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO GET HIT OR COME TO A COMLETE STOP IN THE CENTER OF AN INTERSECTION!!! I TOOK MY CAR TO A VW REPEALER AND EXPLAINED MY FINDING AND GAVE THEM THE RECALL NUMBER 20AE, THEY FIXED IT BY REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP CONTROLL MODULE, DUE TO THE MODULE BEING BAD I ALSO HAD TO GET NEW FUEL PUMP.

THE "STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEFECTIVE" MESSAGE IS COMMON IN THE 2009-2010 VW CC MODEL, VW ISSUED A RECALL THAT EXPIRED ON FEBRUARY 28, 2013. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL IN TRANSIT. VW SHOULD ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND TO ENSURE HUMAN SAFETY. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON IN MY VEHICLE AND I FOUND OUT THERE IS AN UNEXPECTED MECHANICAL GEAR DISENGAGEMENT (TROUBLE CODE P2711). THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED $2,400 SUGGESTING ME TO REPLACE CLUTCH PACKS, AFTER I SPENT $140 SIMPLY FOR DIAGNOSIS. I SAW THAT VW USED TO PROVIDE A SAFETY RECALL AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR DSG TRANSMISSION FOR CERTAIN MODELS IN 2007 TO 2010. I ALSO FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE ARE MANY REPORTED DSG-RELATED FAILURES. I, JUST AS MANY VW OWNERS DO, HAVE EXPERIENCED DELAYS AT SHIFT POINTS, CAUSING ERRATIC SHIFTING, JERKING, LONG STALL PAUSES, CLUTCH SLIPPING, SURGING IN FORWARD AND REVERSE, ETC. WHILE THE CAR IS EITHER ACCELERATING, PASSING OR CRUISING. HOWEVER, MY 2010 VW CC (55K MILEAGE) IS NOT UNDER THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY. I THINK IT'S VERY RIDICULOUS, SINCE I'VE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE, BUT HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED 3 SAFETY RECALL (INCLUDING TAKATA RECALL AND FUEL PUMP RECALL), AND THIS TIME THEY REFUSE TO REIMBURSE MY COSTS INCURRED BY THEIR COMMONLY-KNOWN DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC WAS PURCHASED AS A CPO IN 2012 WITH 33K MILES ON IT. SECOND OWNER. WITH NO WARNING, CLUTCH FAILED COMPLETELY WITH ONLY 43K MILES, AND GEARS WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I MADE A SUDDEN SHARP LEFT TURN TO THE ROAD SIDE, LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR, DEPRESSED BRAKE HARD TO FORCEFULLY STOP THE CAR WITH THIRD GEAR ENGAGED. AN ONLINE SEARCH SHOWS THAT MANY OTHER VW CC AND GOLF (2010, 2012 MODELS) HAVE HAD CLUTCH FAILURES WITH APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MILEAGE. ALSO, THERE IS A VW TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (VW 2028783) WHICH SHOWS THERE IS A CLUTCH ASSEMBLY ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND DIRECTS DEALERS TO REPLACE CLUTCH KIT FOR THOSE DEFECT MODELS. I CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER CARE AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND AS I IN NO WAY ABUSED THE CLUTCH. ALSO, INFORMED THEM THAT THIS CC IS STILL WITHIN THE 2YR/24K MILE CPO WARRANTY. I HAVE A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC SPORT WITH A LITTLE MORE THAN 91872 MILES ON IT. I WAS ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER. THE CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP AND ENGINE LIGHT WAS CLEARED. CAR WAS DRIVEN ABOUT 35MI FROM DEALERSHIP TO PLACE OF RESIDENCE. CAR PERFORMED NORMAL. NEXT DAY WENT TO TURN ON THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT DID START LONG ENOUGH THAT I COULD USE MY OWN CODE READER THE VEHICLE HAD 15 ERRORS ACCORDING TO THE READER. FUEL PUMP MODULE AND TAKATA INFLATORS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON THE WAY TO WORK MY CAR ENDED UP LOSING POWER AND COMPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN WHILE IN MOTION. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER SHUT OFF ALL OF MY LIGHTS INSIDE AND OUT. AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENS I BEGIN TO PRESS ON MY BRAKES ONLY TO NOTICE THAT MY BRAKES FELT LIKE THEY WERE LACKING PRESSURE. HORN HAS STOPPED WORKING. CAR HAS HAD A MILD SCRAPING SOUND AROUND THE STEERING WHEEL SINCE I GOT IT AT 12,500 MILES, WHICH IS A KNOWN SYMPTOM OF CLOCK SPRING PROBLEMS. CURRENTLY CAR HAS 105000 MILES. THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED VERY RECENTLY, WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. THERE IS NO ERROR LIGHT ON CURRENTLY, AIRBAG OR OTHERWISE. BUT I CANNOT PASS STATE INSPECTION WITHOUT THE HORN WORKING. DUE TO THE ORIGINAL REASON FOR THE CLOCK SPRING RECALL ON THIS MODEL, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT BE WORKING PROPERLY, AND ADDITIONALLY, THAT THE CAR IS LESS SAFE FOR NOT HAVING A HORN. HELLO, I BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 MONTHS AGO , MILEAGE 89000 .PROBLEM WITH A GEARBOX DSG, ON THE WEBSITE I GOT THIS ; VOLKSWAGEN HAS ANNOUNCED A PROGRAM TO HELP OWNERS OF VW AND AUDI VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE COMPANY’S DUAL-CLUTCH DSG TRANSMISSIONS. AFTER A FLURRY OF COMPLAINTS TO THE NHTSA, VW WILL REPLACE COMPONENTS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. ISSUES APPARENTLY STEMMED FROM FAULTY TEMPERATURE SENSORS THAT WOULD FORCE THE DSG BOXES INTO NEUTRAL, OFTEN WHILE OWNERS WERE DRIVING. VW WILL REPLACE THE COMPONENTS AND OFFER LOANER CARS DURING THE REPAIRS. OWNERS WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID OUT-OF-POCKET FOR THE FIX WILL BE REIMBURSED. THE COMPANY WILL ALSO APPLY A 10-YEAR, 100,000-MILE TRANSFERRABLE WARRANTY TO THE DSG TRANSMISSIONS. BUT WHEN I TALK TO VW DEALER BROOKLYN THAY TOLD ME GOODBYE, YOU HAVE RECALL FROM AIRBAG. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, I HEARD A LOW POP, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN AND COLLIDED WITH 4 OTHER PARKED VEHICLES. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER INSTALLED THE INCORRECT TYPE OF TIRES ON THE VEHICLE THAT AFFECTED IN THE PROPER BALANCING OF THE TIRES. A SET OF FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES ON THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FOUR TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT TIRE MANUFACTURER AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS WOULD LEAK WHEN EXPOSED TO WATER. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE DEFECT ON FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES BUT THERE WAS NO SUCCESSFUL RESOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
