My cars consumes oil like crazy. I'd say every week I am adding a quart to two quarts of oil. I would lose power while driving. Sometimes the car would just shut off And then it would take a few times to get it started. I was in the middle of driving when the car just completely shut off on me and it will not start at all. It will crank and sound like it's going to turn over but it won't. I've been told it's most likely a timing chain issue.

Oil consumption: My 2014 Jetta 1.8T SE is consuming oil at an excessive rate. This began at 30,000 miles and has been to the VW dealership numerous times ending without resolution.

While driving my car, which is a manual, will stall out of nowhere. Not while changing gears, but while driving on highway. It stalls which is extremely dangerous. I read the NHTSA investigated this problem in 2010. I believe my car is part of this investigation.

HI, I bought this 2014 VW Jetta with 87,000 miles on it for $12,000 from Conicelli Motors in Conshohocken, PA- Nov 2021. I put $8000 down and had $4000 left to pay on it. I kept up with my oil changes and everything. By Oct 2023, I am being told the engine needs to be replaced. I have let this car sit in the parking lot, and I am still making payments on it. There is no way this car should need a complete motor replacement. From a few mechanics, the cost for a motor to be replaces is about $12000. That is what I paid for the car. Looking at all the 2014 VW Jetta engine recalls, I believe VW is the issue. I don't see a recall with my VIN number, but there should have been one.

I moved my car from the front of my home to the back and when I tried to shut off, the key broke off in the on position. I had to get pliers to remove the key. I had another key, so I didn't think much about it then. Then a few months later it happened again. They key was stuck in the on position and would not shut off. The key did not break off, so I had to let the car run. I had to get my nephew to come over and he had to disconnect the relay and disconnect the battery. We could not get the key turn back to the off position. I called the dealership, and they told me I would need to have it towed and they would need to take a look at it. I went on the internet to see if this was a common issue and it was, but none of the solutions would work for this make and model of my vehicle. You would need to have special tools to repair. I called my insurance to get a tow and even though I have roadside assistance, they said it would not be covered. So, I have to pay to have the car towed to the dealership which is 60+ miles from me. The tow was very expensive. The car was taken to the dealership, and they concluded that the ignition switch and column lock was worn out. During this time of the year the weather was hot, and I think that the extreme heat on the metal cylinder may have been a factor in the function of the ignition lock switch.

The transmission stopped working leaving the vehicle to suddenly lose power. My safety was put at risk trying to cross a busy intersection with no way to propel forward. The dealership is aware of the issue.

VOLKSWAGON JETTA IS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. CONTACTED VW THEY ADVISED ME, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I EXPLAINED TO THEM I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT DUE TO THE RECALL STATES(38B9/9V) IT CAN CAUSE FIRES.

I was driving down the Highway at 65 miles per hour when my vehicle suddenly appeared to go into neutral and I lost power in the middle lane and almost was rear-ended. I was able to move over to the side shoulder just gliding. The vehicle starts but while driving it the transmission suddenly appears to go into neutral. The symptoms are consistent with the Recall 34J6 but when I look up my VIN it does not show any pending recalls.

I HAVE A 2014 JETTA HYBRID. MY CAR LOST POWER WHEN I TRIED TO USE IT. BROUGHT IT TO VW OF HAYWARD AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY MECHATRON UNIT. WHICH I PAID FOR. I FOUND A RECALL ON THIS UNIT BUT FOR SOME REASON THE RECALL DIDN'T COVER MY VEHICLE. THAT ODD BECAUSE IT SAYS THAT 2013-2015 JETTA ARE BEING RECALL FOR MECHATRON FAILURES (RECALL CODE 34J6). ALL OF THE PROBLEMS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL WERE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. I THINK MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE RECALL. I DON'T THINK I SHOUILD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR ($2400). THIS DEFECT WAS KNOWN BY VW AND IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO COVER THE COSTS.

The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving on the highway at approximately 50 MPH, the RMPs revved however the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact merged to the side of the road and noticed transmission fluid was leaking. The vehicle was restarted however failed to increase in speed. The vehicle was towed to the residence where an independent mechanic diagnosed that the vehicle was leaking transmission fluid from between the transmission and the engine. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number:13V568000 (POWER TRAIN) as a probable cause for failure. The approximate mileage at the time of failure was 190,000.

The transmission is regularly malfunctioning leaving the car jerking/stuttering when idling. At its worst, the car stopped working while I was driving (felt like it dropped into neutral). I had to stop in the middle of the road (in traffic) to stop and restart the car. I have taken the car to an official VW dealership/repair shop (Smith VW in Wilmington, DE) and was told the transmission would have to be replaced ($10k+ repair). I got a second opinion at AutoStream in Annapolis, MD and was told the same thing. It has not been inspected by police or insurance. The check engine light is now on, though not 100% of the time despite the issue being consistent.

I am writing this complaint in recognition of the 34J6 recall for the 2013 - 2015 VW Jetta Hybrid. The vehicle has only 62K miles on it and the transmission suddenly failed. The vehicle was parked at an ice cream shop and after entering it to drive away, it would not move and a wrench came up on the dashboard. It was then towed to a VW dealer and they quoted approximately $20,000 for a new transmission. VW dealer also said this vehicle was not covered under the 34J6 recall, though the failure symptoms are exactly as outline in the NHTSA's repair and recall document. We also contacted VW corporate and they told me to request good will through the dealer. They offered to then fix the car for $11,000. That price is also ridiculous. We denied paying those costs and towed the car to a private residence where it is sitting in the garage. The VW dealer charged us $205.36 for diagnostics. Safety was put at risk, as the transmission suddenly failed without warning and could have caused a serious incident. I am writing this on behalf of a family member who owns the vehicle and I am taking care this vehicle's issues. I found multiple complaints of dealers doing this to customers, so I decided to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The recall should be expanded to all vehicles, there are only 7,000+ units, this is nothing for VW Ag. The only warning light that came up was a yellow wrench.

Last Thursday, we were driving at night when both low-beam headlight went out at exactly the same time causing us to be driving blindly for a moment. Luckily, the high beams still worked, but this issue seems to be some sort of short, and is dangerous. After looking online, it seems this has happened to lots of people with VW Jettas

The key gets stuck in the ignition and won't turn. This can make it so the car can't be turned off. The key won't turn regardless of how the steering wheel is manipulated to make sure it isn't locking the key in place. No warning signs or messages were associated with the incident.

The contact stated that the son was driving at 46-47 MPH and turning left when another vehicle driving at 65-70 MPH crashed into the entire driver's side of the vehicle causing the vehicle to spin approximately 3 - 4 times before coming to a stop in the middle of the road. No air bags had deployed. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled by the insurance company. A police report was filed. The driver had received injuries to their right leg, however, no medical attention was sought. The dealer had not been contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Air bags failed to deploy on my 2014 volkswagen jetta. I hit a Guardrail head on at 50-60 mph pushing it 8 feet back. I sustained a large laceration on my forehead eventually needing 6 staples and 6 stitches to close it up. My passenger got abbrastions to her head from hitting the window. Which is now cracked and broken throughout. The air bag light came on my dashboard but no air bags were ever deployed. Having just bought this vehicle 6 months ago from a dealership and them verifying that everything was in working order has me wondering what to do about this? $18,000 for a trip to the E.R that night. Needless to say I'm pretty disappointed and know that if the airbags would have properly went off it would have made things Alot easier!!

Car all of a sudden stalled in the middle of the road with almost no warning because the High Pressure Fuel Pump Failed. Car only has 133,000 miles on it. Left us without a car over an hour and a half from home with our kids in the car. I am told Repair is Several Thousand dollars (Almost what the car is worth) Volkswagen knows that there is an issue with these pumps, as the previous years (approx. 2009 with the same pump were recalled, but not this year)

This letter is not that I've had a component failure, but that I am concerned about the published failure rate of my Bosch CP4, high pressure fuel pump. I've read multiple horror stories of people who had catastrophic fuel pump failure on their diesel car or truck. I just came to my attention that on June 15, 2022, the NHTSA and Chrysler have issued a recall for the CP4 fuel pumps that were installed on Jeep Grand Cherokees 2014-2020, and Ram 1500s 2014-2019, all of them had the 3.0L diesel engines. It is my assertion that if the NHTSA has issued a recall because of those afore mentioned fuel pumps, that your office should do the same for the VW cars that have the Bosch CP4 diesel fuel pump as well. In your letter dated June 15, 2022, address to Karen Blaesser at Chrysler(campaign number 22V-406), it states the the fuel pump can fail introducing internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel stavation. It goes on to say that the consequence of that fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. I would like to ask the NHTSA to make the same ruling on the VW vehicles that have the CP4 fuel pumps. I have heard that pump failure will result in thousands of dollars in repair costs to get the car back on the road. Another important fact that should be interjected is the fact that VW or the Volkswagen Audi Group should have known that the pumps would prematurely fail because of the Ultra Low Sulfur diesel fuel that we have in the USA. Over in the EU, they use a different formulation of diesel fuel, one that offers better lubricity for the fuel pumps. In 2006, the Federal Government mandated the use of that ULSD fuel. Another important fact to consider is that VW replaced their reliable CP3 fuel pumps for the newer CP4. That change was a cost saving measure that has cost many consumers a lot of money.

GOT THIS CAR FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD SON. IT KEEPS STALLING WHILE HE IS DRIVING AND ALSO WHILE IDLING. BEEN TO SHOP 2 TIMES. HAVE REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND CRANKSHAFT AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AND I'M OUT $1200 IN REPAIRS! SERVICE CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR A WEEK....THEN 2 WEEKS...AND IT STILL IS STALLING. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I HATE THIS CAR AND FEEL ABSOLUTELY RIPPED OFF BUYING IT USED. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY CHILD BECAUSE OF THIS STALLING ISSUE, VW IS GOING TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE SEEN YEARS AND YEARS OF COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND NO ONE HAS EVER GOTTEN A RESOLUTION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

VEHICLE HAS ANOTHER FUEL RAIL ISSUE. THIS WAS PART OF A COUPLE OF RECALLS AND THE VEHICLE WAS "REPAIRED" IN THE PAST BY VW. HOWEVER, THE FUEL RAIL HAS FAILED AGAIN AND VW WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALLS OR PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THIS KNOWN DEFECT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE. Front end making a banging noise. Local car shop tells me the front Driver side STRUT COIL SPRING is broken and flopping around. Car steers, and drives ok.WHAT IF IT HAD BLOWN MY TIRE when it busted???? Have never seen one of these springs break myself. There are more reports on the internet about this with VW’S. A recall was issued on the 2019 and newer for the rear springs. Any before that year must not count?????

Upon inspection, the contact noticed the coil spring bushing had detached and was on the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with three fractured coil springs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

This May, I started hearing a rattling noise under the right front corner of my car. After several hours of looking, I discovered that the right front coil spring was broken! Because of that I couldn't drive my car until it was fixed. On June 3, I bought a used strut assembly from Economy Auto Parts in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Well since struts have to be replaced in pairs, on June 8th, I bought another used strut assembly from the same place. After replacing struts you have to get a front-end alignment too. The parts totaled $85.60. The front-end alignment at Belle Tire in Warsaw, Indiana was $59.99. I have pictures showing the broken spring. I called my local Volkswagen dealer about a recall on those springs, but they said no. You can't drive your car with a broken spring. A broken spring could result in multiple things happening. A piece of the broken spring could fall off and cause a tire to blow out, it could sever the brake line, or sever the ABS sensor wire at the wheel position. And then the broken spring could fall out onto the road and damage another car, motorcyle or truck. There's a number of things that can wear out on a motor vehicle, but a spring only breaks if it is overloaded or has a manufacturing defect. I've noticed on several VW forums online that front coil spring failure is not uncommon. One more thing, when I called my local VW dealer, they said it would cost over $500 to replace just one strut assembly. I think that VW should have to replace the inspect the coil springs, and that they should be replaced if needed.

Upon pulling out of my driveway in the middle of June 2022, I noticed a piece of metal on the driveway, located near where the front passenger side tire would have been. Upon inspection, it appeared to be a piece of a suspension spring that had somehow broken off and was later confirmed to be true. I have retained the broken piece, which was about 1/2 the circle of the lowest rung of the spring, but do not have the rest of the spring (disposed of by the repair shop). Pictures are attached, as is a copy of the repair invoice. The repair shop (an independent shop) has anecdotally told me that he has seen a number of these situations on Volkswagen's, Volvo's, and another brand which I cannot remember. At this writing, I have not yet contacted the manufacturer but plan to in the upcoming week. This vehicle has just over 10k in mileage and will be 9 years in service come October 2022. As you can see it is not used very much so I find this failure quite disturbing in the sense of safety, material, and repair cost. A couple of weeks earlier, I noticed that the car just seemed to handle slightly different and appeared that it might have been leaning a bit on the passenger's side, but I didn't think much of it as the car materially handled as usual. As you will see from the pictures, I am quite lucky to not have been involved in a serious crash because the sharp angle of the spring failure could have caused a punctured tire while I was driving. As an aside, in my research I have found a recall for spring failures on Volkswagens, but for the rear springs and starting in 2015, and my car is a 2014 with a front spring failure. Still, it does make one think it could somehow be related.

THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM WENT OUT. I REPLACED THE BULB AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. THEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM WENT OUT TOO. I TRIED REPLACING BOTH BULBS AT ONCE, IT DIDN'T WORK. THEN I CHECKED THE FUSES, BOTH UNDER THE HOOD AND UNDER THE DASH. THE FUSES ARE GOOD. THE HIGH BEAMS ARE GOOD, THE RUNNING LIGHTS, BREAK LIGHTS AND TURN SINGLE LIGHTS ARE GOOD. JUST THE LOW BEAMS.

LOW BEAMS FAILED TO TURN ON. REPLACED THE BULBS NOT TOO LONG AGO AND THE BULBS ARE NOT BURNED OUT. ALL FUSES ARE GOOD. HIGH BEAMS WORK, DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS WORK. LOW BEAMS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.

THE HIGH BEAMS STOPPED WORKING. NO INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE READOUT, EITHER. IT WAS STATIONARY. BULBS AREN'T BURNED OUT, FILAMENTS ARE INTACT IN BOTH.

SERVICE BRAKES

When turning the car on with the clutch and brake depressed, the car will roll until the engine turns over and the car starts. The brake stops functioning as the ignition is turned and does not function until the car is on. The car will roll if on any incline while this happens. When this happens if I attempt to lift my foot off the brake and put it back to get it to work the brake pedal can no longer be depressed. Once the car is running the brake works and can be depressed again. This is a safety issue as it could cause a crash or car to roll into traffic. No lights or warning signs turn on when it happens. I'm not sure when this first happened but it has happened on multiple occasions.

VW said it is the ABS module. It appears they had this same problem in a previous recall. Safety Recall 45F2 - ABS Control Module Software Certain 2009-2010 Model Year Volkswagen Vehicles They said any or all of the of the components represented by the warning lights may not work. With ABS, traction control, brake & airbag potentially not working that could harm me & my occupants as well as other drivers on the road The component has not been replaced yet as it has taken 4weeks already for the part to come in. It is scheduled to be replaced 3/28/22 I got a warning with three beeps then warning lights come on & stay on (ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE, AIRBAG, TPMS)

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL FELT HARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (WALLACE VOLKSWAGEN, 2805 SE FEDERAL HWY, STUART, FL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CAMSHAFT LOBE HAD SHEARED OFF, CAUSING THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP TO FAIL. ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2015, I WAS DRIVING MY LEASED 2014 JETTA WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD BABY, WHEN MY BRAKES COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. UNFORTUNATELY, AT THE TIME, WE HAPPENED TO BE AT A STOP SIGN ON A STEEP HILL ABOUT A HALF A BLOCK FROM OUR HOUSE. AS I BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF IN THAT MOMENT OF SHEER PANIC, I TRULY DID NOT THINK THE OUTCOME WAS GOING TO BE GOOD. THANKFULLY AFTER ABOUT FIFTEEN SECONDS OF NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER, THEY FINALLY POPPED BACK ON. I LEASE THIS JETTA, SO I HAD IT TOWED FOR FREE TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE I OBVIOUSLY HAVE TO GET ALL OF THE WORK DONE. THEY CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT MY ONE YEAR OLD CAR HAD FAULTY WHEEL BEARINGS AND IT WAS CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO GET CONFUSED AND THEREFORE MAKING MY BRAKES SEIZE UP. MY CAR IS 1 YEAR OLD AND HAS 14,000 MILES ON IT WITH NO OTHER SYMPTOMS AND/OR NOISES THAT WOULD SIGNIFY BAD WHEEL BEARINGS. WHICH MADE IT EVEN WEIRDER IS I CALLED MY OLD VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP (I JUST MOVED A MONTH AGO) AND I ASKED HIM IF IT COULD INDEED BE MY WHEEL BEARINGS. HE SAID IT WAS EXTREMELY UNLIKELY AND THAT IF IT WERE, MY BRAKES PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE POPPED BACK ON. MAYBE I'M JUST BEING PARANOID, BUT THIS ALL IS SO FISHY TO ME. I FEEL LIKE THEY BE COVERING UP AND/OR MISDIAGNOSING THE CAR TO AVOID A POSSIBLE LAW SUIT BECAUSE MY BRAKES FAILED. I'M TERRIFIED TO GET BACK IN THE CAR EVEN AFTER THEY'VE "FIXED" IT.

BUT I WORK AT NIGHT AND LIVE ONLY ONE MILE FROM MY JOB, SO I HAVE NOT HAD THIS CAR ON THE ROAD AT NIGHT FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT LENGTH OF TIME. THE MOST COMMON SCENARIO IS THAT THE CAR HAS SAT FOR HOURS; I START IT, AND THE LIGHTS ARE EITHER MESSED UP OR WORKING FINE, AND THEY STAY THAT WAY UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND STARTED AGAIN.

HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ON DIM. THEN TAILIGHTS WENT OUT. WE'VE HAD THE CAR 2 1/2 YEARS AND THIS IS SECOND TIME THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE WENT OUT LIKE THIS. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, THE BLUETOOTH ALSO WASN'T WORKING THE WAY IT HAD PREVIOUSLY. ALSO, THE WINDOWS WILL SOMETIMES NOT RESPOND PROPERLY. THEY WILL GO THE OPPOSITE WAY THAT I AM DIRECTING IT TO DO. (PUSH FOR UP AND IT GOES DOWN, FOR EXAMPLE). THESE INCIDENCES HAPPEN BOTH WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING AND STATIONARY.

THE VEHICLE HAS A HARD TIME ON STARTUP WHEN STATIONARY (WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATES FROM FREEZING TO THAWING), SOMETIMES TAKING THREE TO FOUR TIMES FOR IT TO CRANK OVER. ONCE IT CRANKS OVER IT WILL VIBRATE AND SHAKE LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. IT WILL ALSO SHAKE AND ACT LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL AFTER IN MOTION FOR THE FIRST MINUTE. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP, SAID IT WAS AN OLD BATTERY. REPLACED BATTERY, THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT (AGAIN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATES). READ ONLINE THAT IT COULD BE A TDI INTERCOOLER DESIGN FLAW. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER UNLESS THEY EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE SAYS IT CAN CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE. LOOKING TO TAKE IT TO AN INDEPENDENT VW TDI SHOP TO SEE IF THEY CAN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND GET A SECOND OPINION. HOPEFULLY, THIS DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL PUMP.

ONE DAY I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A SMALL STREET WITH A SLIGHT HILL. FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS STALLING BUT I THOUGHT MAYBE I DIDN'T PRESS ON THE GAS HARD ENOUGH. THE CAR ROLLED SLIGHTLY BACKWARDS UNTIL I HIT THE BRAKES. I TRIED PRESSING THE GAS HARDER. NEXT THING I KNEW, THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. A COUPLE OF OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL, BUT THOSE COME ON AND THEN GO OFF OFTEN SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO MAKE OF THAT. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND AS I SLOWED DOWN WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO QUIT ON ME. I PULLED OVER INTO A BANK PARKING LOT TO STOP AND RESTART THE CAR. ANOTHER LIGHT CAME ON BUT IT IS OFF NOW. I'M WORRIED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. 2014 VW JETTA SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. ENGINE STALLED AND HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, REDUCING STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITY, CREATING A DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION LIKELY TO INCREASE CHANCES OF A CRASH. ALTERNATOR LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND GET OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT ENGINE OFF. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, MOVE CAR 10 FEET, AND STALLED AGAIN. RESTARTED AND DROVE STRAIGHT TO POINT OF SALE (DEALER QUIRK VW OF BRAINTREE, MASS). DEALER HAD CAR TWICE, FOR SIX DAYS TOTAL. DEALER SAID THEY WERE EVENTUALLY ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE CONDITION, BUT DID NOT FIND A PHYSICAL CAUSE. DEALER SAID THEY DISCOVERED A "SOFTWARE UPDATE" WAS AVAILABLE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND APPLIED THE UPDATE. DEALER SAID THE CAR WAS THEN "100 PERCENT" NOT AT RISK OF HAVING THIS ISSUE. TWO WEEKS LATER, ON AUGUST 9TH, CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART. CAR WAS TOWED TO SAME DEALER (QUIRK VW) AFTER HOURS. NO NEW ACTION TAKEN YET. I PLAN TO ASK FOR A REFUND. THIS ISSUE HAS PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER AS WELL AS THAT OF MY PASSENGERS AND THE LIVES OF OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME, AND I BELIEVE REPRESENTS A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THIS CAR. [XXX] 10 year old VW Jetta that was always in the garage until last year when we moved. Now have a nauseating mildew smell throughout the interior. Finally found water under the front carpet. Then found this VW Tech Tip (above). Apparently a known manufacturing issue: "seam sealer Skip" is how they refer to it. Now it's out of warranty with only 52,000 mi and is an unsafe mildew/mold trap. The dealer says it may be $3,000 to fix. Removed driver side front fender, the entire interior and sent the carpet and padding to be ozoned. See pic. Most seam sealer around hinges and A pillar are all painted the body color. This pic shows where it was "skipped" during the build. The dealer repaired the driver side last week without painting (why it's black). Then they strangely stated that they'd like to remove the passenger side fender as well to look for "more holes". They know what's going on. This is a well-known problem. VW customer service said they won't offer any assistance since it's out of warranty. I did own it while under warranty, but never noticed since it was garaged. PANARAMIC ROOF TOP LEAKING. THIS VIN ISN'T COVERED BY THE RECALL THAT IS OUT BUT IT IS AFFECTED BY THE SAME ISSUES AS THE RECALL FOR 2015 AND UP MODELS. PANARAMIC ROOF TOP LEAKS IN DRAIN TUBES CAUSING SAFETY CONCERNS DUE TO FOG AND DAMAGE TO AIRBAG UNIT VEHICLE STATIONARY. I HAVE ATTACHED THE RECALL FOR THE OTHER MODEL BUT MY CAR IS AFFECTED EXACTLY THE SAME AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL AS WELL.

The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly shut off and began to roll backward causing a second vehicle to crash into the rear passenger side door. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was driven away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The contact indicated that after the vehicle was serviced under a manufacturer's campaign the vehicle had randomly shut off on several occasions and after restarting the engine the vehicle would operate as normal. No further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failures but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 149,000.

AS I WAS ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY ON-RAMP, MY CAR MADE A LOUD CRACKING SOUND AND SMOKE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO COME OUT OF FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND I STEERED THE CAR TO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. ALL THE SERVICE AND WARNING LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE WERE NOW ON. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE. AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES FOR THE SMOKE TO DISSIPATE, I OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTED OIL ON THE FLOOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK/HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A BLOWN PISTON. MY VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 63,000 MILES AND HAD JUST RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE 5 DAYS PRIOR. THIS CAUSED ME TO FILE A CLAIM WITH THE COMPANY THAT PROVIDED THE OIL CHANGE. PER THE REPORT ATTACHED, THE COMPANY'S INSURANCE INSPECTOR DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS NOT A RESULT OF THE OIL CHANGE. SEE INSPECTOR'S REPORT AND PICTURES ATTACHED, WITH PERSONAL INFORMATION REDACTED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT FUNCTIONAL. BASED ON ADDITIONAL RESEARCH, THIS I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE A RESULT OF A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT AFFECTS A VARIETY OF VW MODELS. I ALSO NOTICED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND WHEN OIL GETS LOW ON DIPSTICK NO LOW OIL LIGHT ON DASH. OIL GETS LOWER THAN DIPSTICK. DIPSTICK BECOMES DRY BUT NO SOUND DIFFERENCE IN ENGINE AND STILL RUNS NORMALLY.

Hello, Recently error codes P309D and 01314-013 were detected via a code reader. Translation of codes indicate Powertrain System and/or ABS ECM. The vehicle will lose power upon downshifting which requires the engine turned off and back on. Once the car reaches normal operating temperature, the issue does not occur. In addition, the Hybrid System is not available. The monitor indicates the battery is being charged. The battery will discharge power, but not to the engine. Not sure where it goes. Finally, the loss of the Hybrid System has resulted in a lower miles per gallon from 45mpg down to 29mpg. Vehicle is available to inspect. Loss of power puts me at risk. The issue has not been confirmed by an Independant source including dealer, police and insurance company. The vehicle has had transmission problems in the past. Loss of power and certain gears, specifically even gears and reverse.

Motor was replaced at 104,714 miles due to knock in engine. Got car after motor replacement and car is doing same exact thing with less than 5000 miles on new motor. Codes that are appearing are oil pressure switch and power train computer issues.

APRIL 13TH,2020 I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. ROAD TESTING PRODUCED NOTHING, BUT P1732 AND P173D CODES WERE FOUND. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED THE VW TECH LINE AND VW INDICATED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS THE ONLY OPTION. MY COST WOULD BE $9236.14. AFTERWARDS, I STOPPED AT THE LOCAL INDEPENDENT GERMAN AUTO REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE MY PAPERWORK LOOKED AT. THIS SHOP INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A NEW TRANSMISSION DESIGN, INTENDED FOR THE HYBRID, AND THAT IT WAS FULL OF BUGS. I WAS INFORMED THAT VW KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND CREATED A SOFTWARE BANDAGE TO FIX IT. THE FIX WAS NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION, RATHER TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF THE CAR INSTEAD OF VW FIXING THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY. THIS SHOP ALSO INDICATED THAT NORMAL SERVICE DONE TO CARS WOULD SHOW A POTENTIAL PROBLEM, BUT VW INDICATED TO CLEAR THE CODE AND NOT TELL CUSTOMERS. TRANSMISSION I AM NOT SURE THE EXACT DATE THAT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES BEGAN, BUT I DO KNOW THAT IT WAS AFTER MARCH 27TH, 2020. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I WORKED ALL DAY FOR NEWS AMERICA MARKETING AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR. ON THE DAY THAT THE ISSUE BEGAN, I HAD BEEN USING E-MODE FREQUENTLY AND I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING HOTTER THAN NORMAL. I STOPPED USING E- MODE. CURRENTLY THE CAR IS DRIVABLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON REGULARLY. WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM, ONLY ODD GEARS ARE AVAILABLE. GEARS 2,4,6, AND REVERSE ARE NOT AVAILABLE. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE CAR WILL IMMEDIATELY DOWNSHIFT TO AN ODD GEAR. FOR EXAMPLE, 4TH GEAR TO 3RD. THIS RESULTS IN THE CAR SLOWING DOWN QUICKLY DUE TO THE HIGH RPM. IF THE CAR IS IN 2ND, SHIFTING TO 1ST CAUSES THE CAR TO COME TO A STOP OVER A SHORT DISTANCE.

ON THURSDAY, MAY 29TH, I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 VW JETTA HYBRID SEL PREMIUM (~165 MILES ON ODOMETER) WHEN THE EPC AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. AT THE SAME TIME, THE GAS ENGINE SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES BEFORE I GOT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE MONDAY, JUNE 2ND, FROM THE DEALERSHIP (~387 MILES ON ODOMETER) STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN WORKING ORDER AND THEY COULD NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO DUPLICATE. THE DEALERSHIP PUT APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES ON THE NEW VEHICLE TO DIAGNOSE IT. ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE (~393 MILES ON ODOMETER), THE VEHICLE DID THE EXACT SAME THING, EXCEPT THIS TIME I WAS IN A PARKING LOT. 2014 VW JETTA HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH LOW TIRES AND HANDLING ISSUES WHILE DRIVING ON DRY, WET OR EXTREME HEAT CONDITIONS. MY JETTA HAS BEEN LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. I WAS SEARCHING TO SEE WHAT GEAR OIL IS NEEDED FOR MY CAR AS I WOULD LIKE TO FILL IT BACK UP TO THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL AND A RECALL SHOWED UP ABOUT AN O-RING BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE OIL COOLER. MY CAR WAS NOT LISTED IN THIS RECALL, HOWEVER MY CAR IS STILL LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AT THIS TIME. ON ANOTHER SUBJECT MY FUEL PUMP SEEMS TO RUN FOR AWHILE AFTER I SHUT THE CAR OFF. First owner, brought brand new, serviced the car every 5k, current 61000 mileage, no prior repair or accident. Nov 16, 2022 Jetta’s engine light went on suddenly, next day engine light off, then it went on and off for a couple of days. Drove to the dealership Nov 21, was refused to check as they're too busy; drove to AutoZone Nov 22, did a diagnostic check, trouble code P0131 (power train system) and 02214-002(Anti-lock Brake System), suggested replacement of an Oxygen sensor. Four days later on Nov 26, drove at the parking lot at low speed between 10-15 mph, the car suddenly stalled for the first time. Was able to drive 1.6 miles back home at very low speed. Nov 28, 2022 Dealership was fully booked; was able to drive the car to a close-by shop who said could fix it. The independent shop replaced two oxygen sensors, spark plugs, spark plug wire set, fuel system treatment and coil ignition. Pick car, stall persisted. Drove back, at second attempt, the shop claimed they replaced one faulty oxygen sensor, still was unable to fix the issue and towed the car to the dealership, dealership test drove multiple times and found nothing wrong. Dec 4, picked up the car, stall persisted within an hour. Called the shop, they didn't know what to do and suggested taking the car to the dealership. Dec 5, drove the car with no problem to the dealership. Described the issue, asked for a 60,000 miles maintenance and check crankshaft sensor, both refused by the service consultant. Asked to check all the parts been replaced. Dec 7, dealership called, claimed three mechanics were working on it and could not pinpoint the problem, best guess is ECM but no guarantee. Dec 9, picked up the car, car stalled three times within two minutes leaving the dealership; unable to hit 30 mph on highway, dangerous to drive in daytime traffic; found a parking lot and had the car towed back home. Today Dec 19, car stalls within a minute of starting. Not safe to drive. VW America declined buy back.

DEALER ISSUED KEYS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF ENGINE IN STATIONARY/PARK POSITION. HAVE TO FLICK KEY FORWARD CAUSING A POWER SURGE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. PROCESS IS GETTING WORSE, NOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON STATING THAT MY FUEL SENSOR IS BROKEN. CAR HAS LOST POWER WHEN ACCELERATING AS WELL. THIS IS ALL CONNECTED TO THE POWER SURGE NEEDED TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. DEALERSHIP STATES, THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS TYPE OF ISSUE, IT WILL COST ME UPWARDS TO $1000 TO FIX IGNITION CYLINDER. IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S ONE OF THE ONLY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND IS KNOWN BY THE DEALERSHIPS. DEALERSHIP ONLY ADVISES TO PURCHASE NEW VEHICLE WITH "PUSH TO START." THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST AND LAST VW.

THE DEALER STATED THE CODE WAS P0011 AND THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ABOUT $75 AND THE LABOR JUST UNDER $400. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHIN 2 DAYS AND THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN. NOW THE DEALER STATED CODE P0011 AGAIN, AND ALSO CODE P0016 CRANK SHAFT POSITION CORRELATION WHICH IS THE TIMING BELT HE STATED. HE ALSO QUOTED A PRICE OVER $3000 TO HAVE THE WORK COMPLETED. I ASKED IF THIS WAS THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG AND THE P0011 WAS MISDIAGNOSED THE LAST TIME SINCE YOU HAVE THE SAME CODE AGAIN. WAS THE OLD POSITION SENSOR BAD OR NOT. HE COULD NOT ANSWER. I TOLD HIM I CAN'T KEEP SPENDING MONEY IF YOU CAN'T GRANTEE A FIX. I DON'T WANT TO COME BACK IN A FEW WEEKS WITH THE SAME CODE, BUT THE PRICE KEEPS GOING UP. ALSO, THAT STATED THEY COMPLETED A RECALL UPDATE TO THE ECM SOFTWARE. I TOLD THEM I WAS SURPRISED AS I HAD CHECKED NHTSA AND IT STATED 0 INCOMPLETE RECALLS. I KNOW THIS AS I RESEARCHED THE P0011 ISSUE SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, AND SOMEONE MENTIONED IN A POST TO CHECK FOR THIS UPDATE. Last year 2021 I replaced the DPF and the is the Turbo charger. One year later 32k miles the turbo blows again just shy of the 25k mile warranty. This is the 3rd time on this vehicle replacing all components.

IM THE OWNER OF A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA GLI. I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW ON JANUARY 2, 2014, FROM FLADEBOE VW IN IRVINE, CA. CURRENTLY IT HAS 9,000 MILES ON IT. IN AUGUST 2014 I STARTED TO HEAR A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA OF MY CAR. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I FIRST TOOK IT IN ON AUGUST 15, 2014. THE MECHANIC AT THE VW DEALER HEARD THE RATTLING I DESCRIBED AND ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT. CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME, ONLY TO HAVE THE RATTLING RETURN. I MADE A SECOND APPOINTMENT AND TOOK IT IN A SECOND TIME. THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT AGAIN. CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME AGAIN, ONLY TO HAVE THE LOUD RATTLE RETURN. DURING THE LAST APPOINTMENT VW HAD A SPECIALIST COME OUT TO TRY AND FIGURE IT OUT. SINCE THE LOUD RATTLING WAS DUPLICATED IN TWO LIKE CARS, THEY CLAIM IT AS, OPERATING NORMAL. The windshield wiper motors are extremely noisy. There is a knock technical service bulletin on this issue but VW says it is not covered as a recall. The issue is that water gets into the improperly sealed motor and then starts to rust the internal metal and then a very loud, noisy whining sound emits from the motor. It should be a recall and it should be replaced for free by Volkswagen. I don’t understand why I should foot the bill for their mistake or their parts supplier’s defect. It does affect safety because the loud wiper motor is a distraction to driving, as well as the unit can potentially seize in the future and cause complete failure of the wiper system.

WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR IN COLD, SNOWY WEATHER THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID WILL NOT WORK AND THE WIPER BLADES WILL FREEZE TO THE WINDSHIELD (WHILE MOVING) WHEN THE DEFROSTER IS ON HIGH HEAT. THE WIPER FLUID I USE IS DESIGNED NOT TO FREEZE. THIS RESULTED ON NO VISIBILITY DUE TO THE DEICING AGENT THAT WAS USED ON THE ROADS STICKING TO MY WINDOW. I HAD TO EXIT AND DRIVE OFF THE FREEWAY WITH MY HEAD OUT THE WINDOW AND MY VISIBILITY WAS SEVERELY LIMITED. I ALMOST HIT THE RAIL AND THE WALLS INSIDE A TUNNEL UNTIL I COULD EXIT BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE.

WEEK OF APRIL 3RD 2016 (APPROX THU APR 7TH) MY 17 YEAR OLD SON EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE, REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD NO LONGER SLIDE DOWN THE SEAT BELT BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING CAUGHT AT A TORN SPOT ON THE SEAT BELT THAT WAS NOW BEGINNING TO FRAY. WE COULD NOT USE THE SEAT BELT THE WAY THAT IT WAS SO HE SAT ON THE OTHER SIDE TO GET HOME. ...UPDATED 08/31/16 *BF WE OBSERVED THE SEAT BELT AND NOTED THAT IT WAS SEVERELY FRAYED APPROX OF AN INCH INTO THE EDGE OF THE SEAT BELT. THE NYLON WEBBING WAS BUNCHING UP AND NOT ALLOWING THE BUCKLE TO SLIDE DOWN THE SEAT BELT. MY FIRST ASSUMPTION WAS THAT THE SEAT BELT GOT SLAMMED IN THE DOOR AND MAY HAVE CUT IT ALLOWING THE SEAT BELT TO START TO FRAY. THINKING THIS WAS THE CASE WE DECIDED TO TRIM THE FRAYED FIBERS FROM THE BELT AND USE AN IRON TO SEAL THE AREA BY HEATING IT. THIS WORKED WELL AND ALLOWED US TO CONTINUE TO USE THE SEAT BELT BUT UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION WE NOTICED THAT THE FRAYED AREA WAS EXACTLY WHERE THE BELT STOPS IN THE OPENING IN THE REAR DASH, EXACTLY!. WE LOOKED AT THE OTHER TWO BELTS, REAR CENTER, AND REAR DRIVERS SIDE AND NOTICED THE SAME FRAYING OCCURRING IN VARYING DEGREES OF DAMAGE, IN THE EXACT SAME LOCATIONS, RIGHT WHERE THE SEAT BELT STOPS IN THE OPENING IN THE REAR DASH, THE EXACT SAME SPOT!..I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THELEN IN BAYCITY, MI TO ASK THEM TO LOOK AT THE SEAT BELTS WHILE THE CAR WAS IN FOR ITS 30,000 MILE SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN ON APRIL 29TH 2016.THE DEALERSHIP FOUND ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AND TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO ELEVATE THE SEAT BELT ISSUE TO THE REGIONAL VOLKSWAGEN REP. I AGREED TO LEAVE THE CAR. I RETURNED TO PICK UP THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THE SEAT BELT DEFECT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY VW. TURBO FAILED WITHOUT WARNING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT. THIS OCCURRED IN A VEHICLE THAT HAD THE TDI EMISSIONS MODIFICATION. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED A SECOND TIME AFTER A WARRANTY REPAIR AT VIC BAILEY VOLKSWAGEN AND APPEARS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT IS RELATED TO THE EMISSIONS MODIFICATION. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES AFTER THE EMISSIONS MODIFICATION, AND ONLY 1300 MILES AFTER THE PREVIOUS FAILURE AND REPLACEMENT OF THE TURBO.

I was on lunch brake, going through a McDonalds drive thru, the car just shut off. I had to have it pushed out of drive thru. After several tries it did start again but shut off in the middle of traffic. I couldn’t shift it. I had to have it towed. VW dealer said I needed a new transmission at 62,000 miles. Then I read about the recall and knew that’s what was the matter with my car. The trouble is my car is not on the recall list. It’s the same with many of us who bought jetta hybrids. So I am out $15,000. The only transmission that can be used is the one on the recall.

The steering wheel froze, all the lights on the dashboard started blinking and the car's engine completely shut down. The wheel locked as I was able to steer to the median. I got out of the car and another car behind me immediately crashed into my stopped car, totaling it.

The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled with the glow plug warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to coast the vehicle off to the side of the roadway after nearly being crashed into by a semi-truck. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to his residence; and upon inspection, he discovered that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed and released metal shavings into the fuel filter. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 125,733.

AFTER FILLING UP OUR JETTA TDI WITH DIESEL GAS WE LEFT THE STATION AND THE CAR'S GLOW PLUG LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK WITH THE MANUAL TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO. I SAID TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WHEN TRYING TO RESTART THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AND IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR. I PULLED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 40 MPH AND FELT VERY SLUGGISH. I QUICKLY PULLED INTO THE NEAREST TURN OUT AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AS IT WAS A NEW 2014 WITH 11,000 MILES. I WAS CALLED BY THE DEALER AND TOLD THE GAS WE PUT IN THE CAR WAS "CONTAMINATED" AND THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. OUR GAS RECEIPT SHOW THAT WE PUT DIESEL GAS INTO THE CAR. ON JULY 5, 2015, THE CLUTCH FAILED. THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED TO DOWNSHIFT THE CAR AS WE WERE APPROACHING A TURNPIKE OFF RAMP. THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS MOVED OUT OF TOP GEAR AND INTO NEUTRAL; THE CLUTCH WOULD NOT RETURN, AND THE GEAR SELECTOR WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF NEUTRAL. THE CAR HAD TO BE MANEUVERED THROUGH TRAFFIC FROM THE FAR LEFT LANE TO THE RIGHTS-SIDE SHOULDER, IN NEUTRAL. THIS PUT MY FAMILY AND EVERYONE AROUND US AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY. THERE WAS NO DEGRADATION OF CLUTCH SYSTEM PERFORMANCE. THIS CLUTCH FAILURE CAME SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE READ COMMENTS FROM OTHERS ONLINE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES. My car has progressed from an intermittent crank/no start issue to outright failure while driving. There have been several incidents where I am driving at ~40 mph and my car completely dies in the middle of intersections/fast moving traffic putting me in grave danger. I have visited the dealership 4 times now with multiple parts replaced but the issue persists, and I feel unsafe driving the vehicle but I have no other option. I have not been given a loaner vehicle at any time from the dealership despite requesting one. There has been no check engine light present at any time. I have had the car since it was brand new and it has been serviced precisely at each service interval only at VW dealerships.

ISSUES WITH MY 2014 VW JETTA STARTED MARCH 2018. MY CAR HAD A ROUGH IDLE THAT WOULD PHYSICALLY IMPACT THE CAR CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK. WHEN DECREASING SPEEDS MY CAR WOULD JERK. MY CAR HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY ENGINE MIL LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT WHEN MY CAR STALLED AND COMPLETELY LOST POWER. UPON THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME I HAD TO GET MY SPARK PLUGS CHANGED, CAM SENSOR REPLACED, AND AN INDUCTION SERVICE. AFTER COMPLETION OF THIS WORK, MY CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS. AFTER RETURNING TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP THEY THEN DETERMINED THAT MY TIMING CHAIN, TENSIONER, AND BRIDGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THIS REPAIR WAS COMPLETED MY OIL LIGHT CAME AND I TOOK MY CAR BACK IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I REVERSED (AT AN ANGLE) INTO A PARKING SPOT AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING A CLICKING SOUND. THE SOUND ENSUED WHEN MAKING ANY TURNS WITH THE VEHICLE. [XXX] driving on [XXX] , my car accelerated to almost redline without me pushing the pedal, I tried the brake only to find it didn't control the car., it died in the slow lane, no power anything. Eng lite was on, towed to my mechanic, he couldn't find why but the code said EGR, so he cleaned and replaced glow plugs, & regen'd the DPF to 0.. so I picked up the car, and a few days later, it did it again through a 4way stop. I called vw & was told to go to the dealer. Oakland VW inspected & said need new DPF $6K. Since the filter doesn't affect throttle, I declined, plus in 2022 on an extended warranty I went to dealer to have the filter replaced, instead they regen'd it & left the bad part in my car. Now the corporate Care Manager wants the DPF replaced for $6K b4 proceeding with any further testing to identify the source of the acceleration problem. The shop mgr, Joseph, was test driving & the car did take off and was not stoppable with the brakes. That was confirmed, yet VW of America is still in a holding pattern and cannot explain why this is happening. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. The car takes off out of control unexpectedly, and the brakes won't stop the force forward. PLEASE help me, I cannot stress enough the danger this car puts me and others in, and it is my only vehicle. The dealer is trying but corporate is being difficult and are not interested in compromise. The DPF, emissions issues they have had, have nothing to do with the acceleration and they just refuse to move forward or discuss anything else. During this summer (2024), I got a warning with three beeps then warning lights came on, went off for a several months, and now have come on and stayed on (ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE, AIRBAG, Tire Pressure). This has to be an issue with VW. There was close to 63,000 miles on the car at the time. Now there's only 64,000 miles on the car. The dealer service center couldn't really determine the cause but still quoted a repair of nearly $4,000.

Visibility was impaired when defroster failed to clear windshield and heater was not working on 12/16/2022. I took vehicle to Hayward Volkswagen on 04/04/2023 and was told heater core needs to be replaced. This is a known problem to Volkswagen; there's a warranty recall on the 2014 Passatt with the same heater core. I have found numerous complaints on line with the same Jetta heater complaint. The 2014 Jetta i own has approximately 88,000 miles, mechanically sound car which i am unable to drive in winter months. Feeling frustrated, I did contact VW "helpline" on 01/05/2024, they were no help, not even to negotiate price.

The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle started jerking and lost motive power. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was blinking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the spark plugs were replaced, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V028000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The dealer was contacted but no assistance was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 30,000.

No issues prior to failure. Vehicle has been inspected by Volkswagen dealer and claimed clock spring needed replacement.

The camshaft sensor is faulty, which then causes the cruise control to stop working, the traction control to turn off, makes the car unable to accelerate, then the steeling wheel begins to shake and the engine to shut down. Which is extremely dangerous while driving. I was luckily able to pull over, but I was almost rear ended because the car stopped accelerating. My check engine light didn’t come on until AFTER this incident occurred.

2014 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. Part number 5K0953569AL air bag clock spring failed leaving air bag and horn unusable. Dealerships say this is the most back ordered Volkswagen part. Many wait lists have several thousand people waiting with no end in sight. No one can provide a ship date. These cars cannot legally be on the road and cannot be sold back to a dealership because they won’t pass inspection. This part has been involved in a recall previously with the same issues, but not all affected cars are covered under the recall. I am personally unable to find a solution and my car has been unusable and unsafe. When I realized how normal and not unique my exact situation was, I felt the need to report this problem on behalf of the tens of thousands of people who are without safe vehicles, including myself. I am hoping that the recall can be extended to these other cars desk with the exact same clock spring issues so that we can be provided with solutions that can get our cars back on the road safely. I GOT THE ISSUE FIXED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SAID THE COMPUTER ONLY NEEDED TO BE RESET, BUT THE VW DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT I STILL HAVE A BIG ISSUE THAT CAN EFFECT THE USAGE OF MY BRAKES, AIRBAGS, EVERYTHING, AND WANTS TO CHARGE ME $3500 FOR A NON-PROBLEM. SINCE THE SENSORS ARE ALL ON, I DON'T KNOW WHEN TO FILL UP OIL OR GAS, AND I WON'T BE ALERTED IF I HAVE A FLAT TIRE OR THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. I GOT OUT OF PARKING SPOT AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FWD. I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO WORK WITH MY COWORKERS AND MY CAR JUST SUDDENLY DIED. I RESTARTED IT AND IT WENT A SMALL WAY FURTHER AND DIED AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO GALPIN VW, IN WEST HILLS, CA. THEY SAID THE COMPUTER READ THAT IT NEEDS A NEW GEARBOX. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PART OF A COUPLE RECALLS BUT HASN'T BEEN FLAGGED. ONE OF THE RECALLS ENDED WITH PRODUCTION DATE 10/2013 AND MINE WAS MANUFACTURED 11/2013. THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN 34F6/4V. NOT SURE. MY CAR DIED BEFORE THE FIX FOR 38C4 ALSO. EVENT'S STARTED LAST YEAR IN DECEMBER. VEHICLE STARTED EXPERIENCING INCONSISTENT RPMS AT IDLE NOTICEABLY AFTER 1 MINUTE THAT WILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 600 TO 900, EVEN SPIKING TO 1.2K RPMS. RECORDED A VIDEO AS EVIDENCE (VW MECHANIC SAID THAT MEANT NOTHING TO HIM AT "~30-40+ YEARS EXPERIENCE"). WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION, ENGINE WILL SOMETIMES CEASE (SOME SAY STALL) AND NO LONGER OPERATE. VEHICLE WILL RUN ON THE HIGH-WAY. WILL START AROUND 80% OF THE TIME AFTER 'STALL' REGARDING REDUCING SPEED TO STOP. LOCAL AUTO-PARTS SHOP CODE READ "P0011 CAM...BANK 1 OVER-ADVANCED". MY CAR IS A SE 1.8L TSI. REPAIR ESTIMATE IS OVER $3,000 FOR WHAT VW DEALER HAD QUOTED AS A "STRETCHED TIME-CHAIN AND FALING TENSIONER." (PAID OVER $150 FOR DIAGNOSTIC.) VW MECHANICS NEVER TOOK A LOOK INSIDE ENGINE TO PROVE THEIR FINDINGS ACCORDING TO VERBAL INTERACTION. WOULDN'T PROVIDE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS I ASKED. MILEAGE PROBLEMS BECAME NOTICEABLE: AROUND 100,000 VEHICLE MILES. VEHICLE HAD NO ISSUES AT TIME OF PURCHASE. REQUESTING RECALL REPAIR AS REMEDY. TO MY KNOWLEDGE VEHICLE IS WITHIN NOMINAL MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS PRIOR TO ISSUE. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY PARKED. ADDITIONALLY, KEY-LOCK COLUMN HAS MALFUNCTIONED AS KEY WAS STUCK WITH ENGINE RUNNING. KEY WOULD BE VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH. NO IDEA WHY OR HOW IT IS POSSIBLE. AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY AND GOT TO THE OVERPASS I HAD TO STOP, AFTER A ACCELERATED THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER EXCEPT FOR THE RADIO, FORTUNATELY AFTER THE OVERPASS WAS A DOWNGRADE SO THE CAR WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SAFETY ON TO THE SHOULDER. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR, SHE HAD COMPLAINED TO ME OF THE CAR NOT STARTING AFTER SHE GOTTEN OFF WORK, WE TRIED TO JUMP STARTED IT AND IT STILL WOULD NOT START, SO IT HAD TO WAIT TILL I GOT OFF FROM WORK. I DECIDED TO CHECK THE WIRING TO THE BATTERY AND TO THE DISTRIBUTOR AND AFTER DOING THIS THE VEHICLE WILL START UP AGAIN. LAST EPISODE WAS ON 11/15/2019 AS I EXITED THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. WHEN I GOT HOME I REMEMBERED THAT MY WIFE HAD HANDED ME A COUPLE OF LATTERS FROM THE VW DEALER WITCH WE HAD OMITTED SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN A CAR LOT. THIS IS HOW I FOUND OUT THAT THESE LETTERS WHERE NOTICES OF THE RECALLS ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I WAS ONLY USING SHELL GAS, SO I WAS TOLD TO TRY ANOTHER BRAND THAT WAS A TOP TIER GAS. I TRIED CITGO AND THEY HAD THE TOP TIER STICKER ON THE TANK. I ONLY HAVE 125K MILES AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND I SEE THAT THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE WITH VW JETTA FROM 2014 TO 2018 AND VW HAS NOT FIGURED OUT THE FIX FOR IT. MY CAR HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE FIXED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP. ALL PROBLEMS OCCURRED AFTER 50,000 MILES. THE ENGINE SEEMS TO RUN AND START HARD. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN DRIVING. IT WOULD REV UP BUT NO MOTION UNTIL SOMETHING EVENTUALLY SWITCHED INTO GEAR, WHILE IN MOTION ON STREETS AND HIGHWAY. IT WILL ACT LIKE THIS FOR AWHILE WITHOUT TRIGGERING A CODE. I WOULD BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WOULD BE TOLD IT WAS NOTHING. EVENTUALLY IT WILL TRIGGER THE EPC CODE, BUT THE CODE WILL DISAPPEAR THE NEXT TIME THE CAR IS TURNED ON. ABOUT 4 DAYS AFTER THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP HAS "FIXED" THIS ISSUE ONCE BEFORE STATING THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. THEY COVERED THE COST, BUT SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND THEY STATE THAT NOW I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR COVERING THE REPAIR, WHEN IT WASN'T FIXED CORRECTLY OR DIAGNOSED CORRECTLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAVE MISSED NUMEROUS DAYS OF WORK, AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR DO TO DIAGNOSIS/ REPAIRS FOR OVER 2 MONTHS IN THIS PAST YEAR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES ON A CAR.

I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE SPARK PLUG WIRES. RUNS GREAT UNTIL ANOTHER 100MILES OF DRIVING, IT STARTED STALLING AT AROUND 75MPH. ON 11/25, AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES AND MULTIPLE TRIPS, IT WOULD NOT START FOR MANY TRIES ONCE IT WAS SHUT OFF, EVEN WITH ENGINE HOT. FAR FROM HOME, I WAS AFRAID TO SHUT IT OFF. THE TEMPERATURE WAS NEAR FREEZING, TANK A LITTLE MORE THAN HALF. I GOT IT STARTED THREE MORE TIMES AFTER THIS AND DROVE ANOTHER 150 MI. WITHOUT ISSUES, AND IT HAS NOT STALLED. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN MISFUELED. ON 11/28, STARTED IT WITH 3 10-15 SECOND TRIES AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. DEALER COULD NEVER GET IT STARTED, CLAIMED TO SEE METAL PARTICLES IN FILTER AND TOOK FUEL SAMPLE FOR TESTING. SERVICE MGR MADE COMMENTS ABOUT NOT NEEDING TO BLEED FUEL SYSTEM, LIKE WHEN THEY TOOK A SAMPLE FUEL. DEALER COULD HAVE CAUSED (MORE) DAMAGE TO HPFP BY LETTING AIR IN. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN SIMILAR SYMPTOMS IN OTHER TDI. HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP) FAILURE SUSPECTED (ALL REPLACED IN APRIL), VW BLAMES POOR FUEL BUT LAB REPORT SAYS "OBSERVED FREE WATER" AND DID NOT ACTUALLY MEASURE IT. LAB ESTIMATED 0.5%VOL VS REQUIRED ULSD SPEC OF 0.05% VOL. CAR WILL NOT START (BUT HAS STARTED A FEW TIMES AFTER MANY TRIES AND THEN RUNS VERY WELL). DEALER ASSUMES IT'S FUEL RELATED BUT OBD CODE IS P2002(DPF PRESSURE) SO DEALER INCLUDED THAT IN THE $13K ESTIMATE. VW CONSUMER CARE INDICATED THAT REGARDLESS OF REPLACING THE FUEL SYSTEM OR FUEL, UNLESS I HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT OBD CODE, THEY MAY USE THE FUEL TEST FAILURE TO DENY ANY REPAIR OF ANY TYPE IN THE FUTURE. I SAT IN THE VEHICLE, WINDOWS UP, HEAT ON, AWAITING SOMEONE'S ARRIVAL FOR APPROX. 20 MIN., I BEGAN TO FEEL WEIRD BODYWISE & EXITING THE VEHICLE, NOTICED HOW SLUGGISH I WAS. I ARRIVED HOME AT 9PM & WALKING IN, I FELT FATIGUE & NOTICED THAT MY BODY WAS BECOMING SORE. BY THE NEXT HOUR, I'D BECOME EXTREMELY FATIGUED & DECIDED TO BATHE & CALL IT A NIGHT. I SHARED MY CONCERNS WITH MY DAUGHTER NOTED MY SYMPTOMS & WENT TO SLEEP. BY MORNING, I WOKE UP FEELING EVEN MORE SORE, PLUS HAD A FEVER. UNABLE TO FUNCTION, I CALLED MY FAMILY & DR. & WAS ADVISED TO VISIT THE ER. I WAS TOLD I HAD THE FLU, BUT I DENIED THE DIAGNOSIS & A SWAB CAME BACK NEGATIVE. THEY SAID MY WBC WAS UP WI/ NO EXPLANATION FROM THE CULTURES. THEY COULDN'T PUT A FINGER ON IT & THEY DECIDED TO KEEP ME OVERNIGHT. BY THE A.M., MY WBC HAD INCREASED & MORE TESTS WERE RAN. THEY SAID IT WAS POSSIBLY VIRAL BUT LATER SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TO TELL ME. THEY PUT ME ON TWO ANTIBIOTICS & MY HOSPITAL STAY LASTED UNTIL 3/31. INITIALLY, THE CAR WAS NOT SUSPECTED SUSPECTED THE CAR, UNTIL 3/28 WHEN MY DAD CALLED THE HOSPITAL & MENTIONED HOW HE FELT WHEN IN IT..HE SAID SOMETHING IS WITH THIS CAR & HE FELT HIS EYES ROLLING IN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. HE SAID HE COULDN'T BE DRIVING IT AS IT WAS. HIS SYMPTOMS LED HIM TO DO THE INTERNET & HE CAME ACROSS NUMEROUS REPORTS ABOUT VWS' SMELL & IT SICKENING PEOPLE. HE DIRECTED ME TO THE SAME INFO & TOLD ME TO TELL THE DOCTORS ABOUT THE CAR AND HIS FINDINGS. I DID SO, BUT TO NO AVAIL. HAVING SEEN THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO DEVELOPMENTS, RECALLS, ASSOCIATED WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE, I AM ALSO SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT. TIRES PUT ON THE 2014 VW JETTA GLI (DUNLOP SPORT) FROM FACTORY ARE OF VERY POOR QUALITY AND COULD CAUSE A BLOW-OUT AND AN ACCIDENT. FIRST INCIDENT WITH POTHOLE CAUSED A TIRE BLOW-OUT ON FRONT PASSENGER TIRE, BUT EXECUTED A CONTROLLED MANEUVER TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER. SECOND INCIDENT INVOLVED NO POTHOLE OR ABNORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES BUT RESULTED IN A BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL OF ANOTHER TIRE. BUBBLE WAS CAUGHT BEFORE BLOW-OUT INCIDENT COULD OCCUR. THESE TIRES ARE UNSAFE AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS DUNLOP SPORT TIRE SCATTERED ACROSS THE INTERNET. NHTSA NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION BY REQUIRING VOLKSWAGEN TO REPLACE THESE TIRES WITH TIRES OF BETTER QUALITY THAT WILL NOT DEVELOP COMPROMISED SIDEWALLS OR ARE AT RISK TO BLOW-OUTS. I HAVE A 2014 GLI AUTOBAHN WITH THE PADDLE SHIFTERS AND THE SPORTS MODE OPTION. TODAY I ENGAGED THE SPORTS MODE OPTION AND THE VEHICLE'S RPM WERE ALMOST REDLINING BUT IT WILL TAKE AWHILE TO FEEL THE SHIFTING ON THE TRANS. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM TO THE TRANS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE SECOND PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING I BELIEVE IS THE SUSPENSION DUE TO THE SMOOTHNESS OF THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER THEIR. JUNE 2014 I BROUGHT MY 2014 JETTA SE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT B/C THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON & OTHER LIGHTS.THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A 1.5 WEEKS & CLAIMED THEY WERE WAITING ON A NEW CLOCK SPRING,FINALLY AFTER ME GETTING AGITATED THEY FIXED IT,THE CAR AT THE TIME ONLY HAD 2000 MILES ON IT.I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT WAS JUST A ELECTRICAL GLITCH AND IT'S BEEN FIXED.THEN AUGUST 19,2014,THE TRACTION CONTROL,TIRE PRESSURE,ETC LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN I WAS BACKING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY,I EMAILED THE SERVICE TECH ASKING IF I NEEDED AIR IN MY TIRES HE SAID NO TO THEN TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT ON,THAT SHOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.HE THEN SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO DROP THE CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP.SEPTEMBER 3,2014 THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND THIS TIME I DEMANDED TO BRING MY CAR IN.MY BREAKS WERE SQUEAKING,ALL THE LIGHTS FROM BEFORE WHERE ON & THE BACK TIRES WERE MAKING SQUEALING NOISES,IT ONLY HAD 3750 MILES ON IT.THEY HAD MY CAR AGAIN OVER A WEEK AND CAME BACK WITH EXCUSES,THEY SAID THEY WERE WAITING FOR VW TO GIVE THEM THE SOFTWARE UPDATE, THEY HAVE 5 OTHER CARS THAT HAVE ALSO BEEN WAITING FOR THE UPDATE.AFTER ME YELLING AND EMAILING EVERYONE & GOING THERE MYSELF TO DEMAND MY CAR.THEY SAY VW HASN'T RELEASE THE UPDATE BUT THEY WILL DIAL IT INTO MY CAR.THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND THEY ARE SITTING ON THE FIX.I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP,MEANWHILE THEY DELETED THE ERROR CODE SO THE TRACTION ETC LIGHTS ARE OFF.THE OTHER DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME A LOANER CAR B/C VW WOULDN'T REIMBURSE THEM UNLESS THE CAR GAVE THEM AN ERROR.I TOLD THEM TO CALL VW AND GET THE ERROR,THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T. THE CAR PRESENTED PROBLEMS IN THE MONTH OF JULY. STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR IS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF, ALSO THE CELL PHONE CHARGER NOT WORKING, THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES UNFORTUNATELY NOT HAD THE TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. NO LIGHT AT THE BOARD OF ANY PROBLEM WARNED. TURNED OFF AND TURNED ON THE CAR AGAIN AND WENT BACK TO WORK. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME TO TAKE IT ON MONDAY, AUGUST 4 AT 10:30 AM, I WAITED UNTIL 1:30 PM. THEY DIDN'T GIVE ANOTHER CAR FOR GO MY JOB. THEY SAID THEY HAD CALLED THE SAME VOLKSWAGEN AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY GAVE ME THE CAR WITHOUT SOLVING THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT TURNS OFF ONLY THEY FIXED THE PHONE CHARGER. THE CAR RETURNED TO PRESENT PROBLEMS ON SUNDAY AUGUST 31 AT 7:30 PM. I STARTED THE CAR AND DRIVE 3 BLOCKS / BLOCKS AND TURN RIGHT THE CAR TURNED OFF, I FOUND MYSELF WITH A CO-PILOT. TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT ON LIKE I USED TO, YES IT WORKED, BUT IT LIGHT SEAT BELT AND AIR BAGS BEGAN RINGING SINCE WE HAD NOT RECOGNIZED BELTS. TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND TURNED ON 4 OCCASIONS BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. I HAD TO BE WITH THIS ANNOYING NOISE DURING MONDAY (LABOR DAY). I COME BACK ON FRIDAY 5 SEPTEMBER TO SERVICES DEPARTMENT LEFT MY CAR AND I NEED A CAR TO GET MY JOB BUT THE DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE ME WHEN I TOLD HER THAT EXPLAIN IN A PAPER THAT THERE ISNOT A CAR FOR ME SHE ASKED ME TO WAIT A MOMENT AND SUDDENLY I GOT A 2015 NISSAN ALTIMA, BUT COULD HANDLE ONLY IN NEW YORK I CAN NOT LEAVE THIS AREA. FILLED REMAINDER (APPROX. 1/4 TANK, 3.5 GALLONS) WITH ULSD AUTO DIESEL FUEL AT A SERVICE STATION IN PORTAGE COUNTY, OH. I NOTICED AN ALMOST IMMEDIATE LOSS OF APPROX. 4 MPG IN FUEL ECONOMY. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ON VARIOUS VOLKSWAGEN TDI/DIESEL INTERNET DISCUSSION FORUMS (IN ADDITION TO VARIOUS CHEVY AND/OR FORD DIESEL PICKUP TRUCK INTERNET DISCUSSION FORUMS), THE SYMPTOMS SEEMED TO COINCIDE WITH DAMAGE TO THE BOSCH CP4 HPFP (HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP). SYMPTOMS INCLUDE: -- LOSS OF FUEL ECONOMY. -- MINOR HESITATION EVEN ON SMOOTH, LEVEL ROADS THAT GETS WORSE OVER TIME. -- PRESENCE OF METAL "FLAKES" OR "SHAVINGS" IN THE FUEL FILTER CANISTER AND OTHER PARTS OF THE FUEL DELIVERY/RETURN SYSTEM. -- I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE POINT OF PURCHASE (AN OFFICIAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALER), AND REQUESTED THEY PROVIDE ME WITH A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL FILTER CANISTER. THIS INSPECTION CONFIRMED THE PRESENCE OF NAKED-EYE-VISIBLE CONTAMINATING PARTICLES (SUSPECTED TO BE ALUMINUM METAL "FLAKES" OR "SHAVINGS") IN THE FUEL FILTER CANISTER, AND POSSIBLY OTHER PARTS OF THE FUEL DELIVERY/RETURN SYSTEM. DUE TO THE FUEL DELIVERY/RETURN SYSTEM DESIGN, THESE METAL "FLAKES" OR "SHAVINGS" CAN BE RE-INTRODUCED INTO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WITHOUT BEING TRAPPED BY THE FUEL FILTER, CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE HPFP AND CASCADING CONTAMINATION (GENERATION OF ADDITIONAL METAL "FLAKES" OR "SHAVINGS"). ONCE FUEL FLOW THROUGH THE HPFP, FUEL ACCUMULATOR RAIL, AND INJECTORS BECOMES SUFFICIENTLY RESTRICTED BY CONTAMINANTS, THE HPFP CAN FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY, RESULTING IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. FROM A COMPLETE STOP, PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED FOR 4 TO 5 SECONDS. TRIED AGAIN AND THE CAR SLOWLY ROLLED FORWARD ONLY TO HAVE THE ACCELERATOR NOT WORK AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING THE CAR TO BE T-BONED IN AN INTERSECTION. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIME THAT DAY. FOOT WAS NO WHERE NEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE AND 5-24-14 HAPPENED AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING US TO GET HIT CROSSING TRAFFIC. 2 DEALERSHIPS HAVE YET TO DUPLICATE IT AND WILL GO IN AGAIN 6-3. DRIVING IN MY VW JETTA 2014 SE AT THE I71 FREEWAY AT AROUND 65-70 MPH (I HAD ALREADY DRIVING FOR AROUND 40-45 MIN) AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY THE CLUSTER MARKED ME A RED LIGHT SHOWING THAT A DOOR WAS OPEN. MY WIFE FIGURED OUT THAT THE REAR LEFT DOOR WAS NOT FULLY CLOSED AND THAT AIR WAS COMING INSIDE THE CAR DUE TO THIS GAP. I WAS NEEDED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER TO CLOSE THE DOOR, AND SEEMED THAT JUST THE FIRST LATCH WAS ENGAGED, BUT NOT FULLY CLOSED. NEXT DAY MY FATHER IN LAW WAS DRIVING MY CAR, WHEN SUDDENLY IT HAPPENED EXACTLY THE SAME. WE PULLED OVER AND IT WAS HAPPENING THE SAME, IT WAS NOT FULLY CLOSED.
