While driving 70mph on the interstate in the middle lane with an 18-Wheeler next to me in the right lane, my can all of the sudden a warning for an over the 4000 max rpm and an EPC light, which caused my car to start loosing speeding no matter how much or hard I pressed the gas peddle, in a matter of a minute my car dropped from 70 mph to 40mph and had to hit my flashers.

The contact stated there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to exit the highway however, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 20 MPH. The contact drove back to the residence, shifted into park(P) and turned off the vehicle. The contact not driven the vehicle since parking the vehicle. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

I took the vehicle in to the local dealership for an oil change and after the oil change was completed, I drove about 10 miles before the engine seemed to lose power an misfile. The "Check Engine" light started flashing before it turned solid. I called the dealership and they asked me to bring the vehicle back. After scanning the vehicle OBD information, per the dealership invoice, it returned the following codes: 1. P0343001 (Camshaft Pos. Sensor Circ. High Input) 2. P0300001 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected) Eventually, they contacted VW and were asked to drain the oil, in which they found metal particles. VW then requested them to tear down the engine at which they noticed "excessive amounts of metal on bottom of oil pan". Upon reporting back to VW, dealership was asked to replace "long block with turbo assembly due to metal contamination". My understanding is that the entire engine has been replaced along with the turbocharger. Car was at dealership for 59 days total.

There is an excessive amount of water leaking into the passenger compartment and also the cargo area The result is that considerable mold growing on the carpeting of the entire car The dealer has ordered repair parts but the parts are on back order leaving me to drive the vehicle while it has mold I have been advised if I remove the molded carpeting I will invalidate the warranty Very dangerous as occupying this vehicle results in inhaling mold

Driving down the Highway with my kids in the car and the sunroof shattered. No was around driving near me, nothing was hit, no other damage on my vehicle. the sunroof just exploded with my 4 children in the car. Now Im 1,000 miles away from home.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE FRONTAL COLLISION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (VOLKSWAGEN OF DOWNTOWN CHICAGO, LOCATED AT 1111 N. CLARK ST, CHICAGO, IL 60610), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE NEWEST GENERATION VW TIGUAN HAS A B PILLAR ISSUE WHERE THE RIVETS WHERE THE B PILLAR IS WELDED RATTLES. I AM CONCERNED OF THE OVER ALL STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE AND HOW IT WOULD WITHSTAND A CAR ACCIDENT.

BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN EARLY APRIL 2019, AFTER A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES I NOTICED A SCREECHING/RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE B PILLARS. I TOOK IT BACK THE DEALER FOR A RESOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. THEY HEARD THE NOISE AND SAID THERE IS FIX FOR THE PROBLEM THAT INVOLVES GUTTING THE ENTIRE INTERIOR AND WELDING BAD OR MISSING WELDS ON THE STRUCTURE UP NEAR THE ROOF. I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SOLUTION. FIRST, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHO KNOWS IF THE ROOF WOULD HOLD UP DURING A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT CONSIDERING THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS ARE NOT QUALIFIED WELDERS FOR SUCH A CRITICAL APPLICATION. SECOND, THE NOISE IS VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. SO I HAVE DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO LET THEM TEAR THE ENTIRE INTERIOR OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND LET THEM MAKE SHODDY REPAIR ON MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE OR TAKE A CHANCE ON MY AND MY PASSENGER'S SAFETY. SHAME ON VOLKSWAGEN. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE BOUGHT OR REPLACED WITH A 2019 WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE THE PROBLEM.

Our car frequently (several times per month) suddenly stops when it is coming to a STOP when the Stop/Start feature is trying to engage. We took it to the dealer, and VW replaced the starter. That DID NOT fix the problem. When the car stops, frequently at or when approaching intersections, the display says we need to stop the car immediately, and the car is stopped, making a high-pitched sound, like a dentist’s drill. This problem started well before our warranty was finished, but after going to the dealer many times (and even leaving the car with them for a considerable amount of time). We were told many times that they could not replicate the problem, and that their diagnostic tools could not find a problem. I requested help from the automaker, VW, and I was told that they only follow the dealer, even though we have had this problem many, many times, and that there was nothing they could do for us. This is a safety problem, and I have seen many similar complaints online. You need to look into this. This problem happens when driving. We cannot get it fixed, and it seems to pose a danger. When I put the date of the incident, I will put the most recent day this happened. Please note that this has happened more than 100 times, and seems to be getting worse. Please investigate with VW. This is a large problem, and it deserves an auto recall.

Panoramic Sunroof randomly exploded while my car was parked at my workplace. I parked the vehicle after 8am. My sunroof spontaneously exploded at roughly 2:30pm. A coworker had arrived seconds before the explosion, he parked his vehicle behind & across the lot. While standing by his car, the full outer glass panel forcefully ejected off of my Tiguan sunroof & flew across the parking lot before shattering into pieces. My coworker described the explosion like a gunshot. He called me out to assess the damage, glass was all over the parking lot, most of the sunroof’s lower glass panel broke off & shattered on the rear-right passenger & middle seats of my vehicle. Piles of shattered glass landed where my daughter “would have sat” if she were in the vehicle. This experience has been distressing.The thought that this could’ve happened while driving on the road or with my family is absolutely terrifying. What is tragic, is there are several documented cases & reports of a class action settlement yet no recalls or warnings of the possible dangers with Tiguan’s LED Panoramic Sunroof. I contacted the VW St. Aug. FL dealership which is where I purchased the vehicle, reported the incident, the vehicle was dropped off to be inspected the next day, (today) (their sales team confirmed no active recalls were on the vehicle). Instead of receiving assistance & escalating the hazardous report to their VW Corp.Level, I received a call from a repair tech who was rude, showed no empathy & stated that I need to come pick up my car. He stated that it would not be covered under warranty, I need to contact my insurance company to file a claim. He told me to return the loaner that I received yesterday, or he would start charging me $100/a day. I questioned his poor handling of the matter, asked if he tried to escalate the matter to a manager, or VW, he declined to & hung up on me, twice. I never received an estimate for repairs. Their GM never called back. Security cameras recorded incident.

2018 Tiguan intermittently fails to accelerate. Car has stopped on highway even after pressing on acceleration peddle. Car behind me had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting rear of my car. Carfax indicates several replacement parts. Beaumont, Texas dealership revealed that previous owner insisted on having parts changed in 2022. Not inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives. Inspected by dealership. There are no warning signals prior to deacceleration. Car died, dash goes black, for close to half minute and then accelerates again. This has happened 3 times since purchase date of 10/23/23. Car was not driven from January 14,2024 to May 2,2024.

The automatic door locks are malfunctioning (starting early September 2023). When the vehicle accelerates, the automatic door locks continuously engage, repeatedly, causing audible distractions while driving. This is a safety issue because with three kids in the rear, the doors are not locked while driving. Typically, once you accelerate from park above a certain speed, the door locks automatically engage. Now they go on/off continuously while at all speeds, including highway speed. Now the doors can be opened, and the noise itself is considerably distracting. It also allows for anyone, while parked at a stoplight or freeway exit, to open the doors. The dealership inspected it and quoted over $900 for the repairs, however I do not agree with this assessment. For a 2018 $30k+ vehicle, a basic function like this should not be malfunctioning. This is not normal wear and tear like brake pads. The cost to repair is unreasonable, and it is not covered under the warranty. There are no warning lights and indicators appearing on the vehicle noting the issue. The issue is ongoing every instance the vehicle is driven and we do not feel safe due to the distraction or the possibility of kids opening the doors while driving (or someone on the outside). The dealer also advised there's a possibility the locks will further malfunction and we could get locked inside or outside the vehicle. Again, neither of those scenarios are safe, especially living in a hot climate like Phoenix, AZ.

WHEN VEHICLE IS IN A COLD STATE, IE NOT DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL HOURS OR OVERNIGHT. TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 45 TO 60 DEGREES. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON, AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION HAS A LONG DELAY IN ACCELERATION. IT TAKES THE CAR 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING BEFORE THIS DELAY GOES AWAY. I LEFT HOME AND WANTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO A MAJOR STREET BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY, IT'S OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES.

SINCE OWING MY 2018 VW TIGUAN, IT HAS HAD AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM MOVING FORWARD WHEN I PUSH ON THE THROTTLE FROM A COMPLETE STOP. SOMETIMES THERE IS A DELAY OF 2 TO 3 SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR MOVES FORWARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

I bought my 2018 Tiguan in 2021 with 20k miles on it from York Volkswagen in York, PA. I'm at 83k miles. My vehicle sporadically stops accelerating, sputters and goes into "limp" mode. ECP light comes on, engine error warning MAX RPM. Car stalls in heavy commuter highway traffic, with no shoulder to safely pull off the highway, which is terrifying and deadly. Also stalls/ hesitates in slower city traffic. Dealer initially suggested an early oil change ($130.00) thinking this might resolve this issue. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN AND WELL DOCUMENTED, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I wonder how many have been killed that we don't know about with the unexpected decelerating and unable to accelerate in speeding traffic. The dealer does not acknowledge this known issue. This has been happening for months. I glad I did some research.

I was on the freeway and my vehicle stopped accelerating and went into limp mode (almost died). I took it to the dealer and they said the codes for Fuel Injector Harness were on and so i need a new fuel injector harness. VW released an extended warranty for that but the dealer is saying the warranty is vin specific and my vehicle does not qualify. How can it not qualify if its the exact problem listed on the extended warranty? Number: VWP-23-03 (number for the warranty).

2018 VW Tiguan, 65,109 miles. Unable to add fuel to the vehicle. The filler neck would back up with fuel and even on the lowest setting, the pump would click off on back pressure. Fuel would often splash out. Gas smell or odor in and around the car. When parked in the garage, the fuel odor was strong. No warning lights or check engine lights were on. Dealer replaced B Evapcanist, A C LDPump, AF Valve. Dealer charged full cost for repairs. After multiple calls to VW consumers assistance, the repair charge was covered under warranty and refunded my payment. VW should cover or repair faulty emissions controls that cause serious safety issues with gas vapors inside or around the vehicle, and/or contribute to inability to properly and safely fill the vehicle with fuel.

My car has been having issues since I hit 40k in 2022. Each time I took it in to Ontario Volkswagon for a diagnosis and repair they could find anything because the check engine light was not on. So they would tell me "based on milage this is the service we recommend" The dealer kept telling me its the gas your using bad gas but i only ever pump is mobil, or shell and always use 91. So by them saying that at every visit they knew what it was but failed to properly diagnose it. Fast forward to current date my car at 83k my car has stalled out several time going into limp mode on the fwy. It throws an error warning "MAX 4000 RPM" the cars check engine light turn on I am unable to accelerate and my speed starts to decelerate you can only imagine how scary this can be with your kids in the car and your car starts decelerating while the cars around you are going highway speed. Before it started with the error message the car would sputter while accelerating onto the highway then what felt like a hiccups when hitting 2000rpm And keeping it at a steady speed. After spending thousands of dollars fixing recommended services and pleading with Ontario Volkswagon the service advisor finally said volkswagon exteded the warranty on the fuel Injector wiring harness but the only way to get it repaired was if the check engine light was on and the error code for that was present at the time of service. My car obviously is experiencing the symptoms but the dealer fails to honor the warranty. This should be a standard recall on this car. My experience was a frightening one and could of gone differently if it happened at a different time of day.

THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING "HEADLIGHTS" ARE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD CONSIDERING THEY PROVIDE VERY POOR VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT OR IN RAIN. I BARELY MISSED HITTING AN OBJECT IN THE STREET THAT WAS LESS THAN 30 FEET TO THE RIGHT AND IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 20 MPH. THERE IS ZERO VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN AT NIGHT. I WOULD RATE THESE HEADLIGHTS A 1 OUT OF 10 WHEN MOVING AND A 3 OUT OF 10 WHEN STATIONARY. I FEEL THESE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO INFERIOR THAT THEY POSE A REAL DANGER TO ANYONE DRIVING A VW TIGUAN. THE LACK OF VISIBILITY IS SO DEFICIENT IN ILLUMINATION THAT I AM NOT GOING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT UNLESS NECESSARY. TOO DANGEROUS.

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SE (4Motion) has approximately 75,000 miles on it. The rear driver-side brake lines failed, snapping in half, which resulted in a complete loss of brake fluid. Consequently, the vehicle was unable to stop unless the emergency brake was engaged.

ABS Control Module failed resulted in Emergency Brakes to be applied and locking indiscriminately resulting in loss of control as well as safe use of the vehicle. Parts to replace ABS Control system are reportedly unavailable/backordered with no estimate of availability. VW of America refuses to provide any information how to proceed.

The vehicle has had multiple issues with uneven and premature wearing of the brakes. Brake shop determined it was possibly the result of defective calipers. The inside and outside pads wore completely differently on every axle. Brakes wore out prematurely at 35k. I am suspicious that this also may have been caused by the forward collision warning system's proclivity to errantly activate, thus forcefully slamming on the brakes.

• Vehicle purchased new • First brake service • Mileage: 46,700 Over a 1-week period, I noticed an increasing grinding noise at driver side front wheel. I suspected brakes. Took vehicle to VW dealership who performed an inspection then reported (first explanation) that unknown material/debris had worked its way between rotor and pad resulting in significant wear & scoring of driver front rotor. Dealership advised replacement of all 4 rotors and pads ($ 1,700+)! When I questioned the replacement of ALL brakes, I was told (2nd explanation) the debris in the driver front brake had reduced braking efficiency such that the passenger front brake had to compensate, which subsequently resulted in excessive pad and rotor wear/scoring at that site. Okay, but then why the rear? I was told (3rd explanation), that due to the decreased braking efficiency of BOTH front brakes, the rear brakes had to compensate and that the rear pads were at 5mm, and the rear rotors were warped beyond specifications. I requested all parts be retained for my inspection. Upon my later inspection, I saw that one pad from EACH side of the respective front calipers was substantially worn beyond the other pad. I was told (4th explanation) the caliper pins may not have had sufficient lubrication thus one (inner) side of EACH front caliper was getting hung up - thus the excessive wear to only the inner pad on EACH front brake. Similarly, the inner side of each rotor showed substantially more wear and “deep grooving”. Despite the clear evidence of caliper malfunction, warranty coverage declined - EVEN THOUGH the full factory warranty was still in full effect! Outcome: Paid for all new rotors & pads (no other feasible option). Service manager recommended returning after 5000 miles to verify proper function of calipers. But Service Manager advised that if the caliper issue IS found, at that time, “(T)he calipers may need replacement manufacturer’s warranty may apply.”

Door lock system Child trapped inside due to vehicle locking itself with keys in car after putting child in car seat and bag inside. Fire department used a slim jim through window to press unlock button; however, the vehicle would not unlock via interior door button. Fire department had to pull interior door handle to unlock, taking an additional 45 minutes to free child trapped inside. The problem has been reproduced. Without the ignition on, door locks will not attempt to unlock the vehicle unless the vehicle is already unlocked. Dealer confirmed issue and is stating there are numerous low voltage fault codes including the battery and passenger front and rear door latches. Vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturers dealer on 7/9/2024 at fire department's recommendation during incident. There were not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to or after the failure.

Micro switch in driver door module I believe is the cause. I cannot open the door even when hitting the unlock button on the keys or inside the vehicle. All other doors will unlock and open fine but not the driver door. Safety issue comes that if I were to be in an accident, unconscious, people would be unable to get my door open even if unlocking it on the passenger side. Currently, I have to go through the passenger door and pull the inside handle to open the door.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle started jerking. The contact stated that the EPC warning light illuminated, and a message was displayed on the instrument panel “Engine Speed - Max 4,000 RPM”. The contact stated that when the message was displayed on the instrument panel, the vehicle would decelerate to 15 MPH with the accelerator pedal depressed. The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that she was informed by the dealer that the failure was a known issue and was due to a faulty transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000

The contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the EPC warning light illuminated, causing the vehicle to go into limp mode. The vehicle decelerated to approximately 20 MPH. The contact pulled over and assessed the vehicle; however, did not physically see any issues with the vehicle. The contact was informed that the injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

WE HAVE SAME ISSUE WITH OUR 2018 TIGUAN AS MANY OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE. AFTER OUR FIRST OIL CHANGE WE HAD ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. DID NOT REPORTED TO DEALER TILL AFTER SECOND OIL CHANGE. THEY CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE LEAKS AND PUT US ON OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FOR LITTLE OVER 600 MILES. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND TOLD US TO KEEP EYE ON IT. WE ARE ON 3RD OIL LIGHT SO, THEY NOW PUT US ON SECOND OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. I OWNED MANY VW INCLUDING 2019 JETTA WE BOUGHT FOR MY SON AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH BURNING OIL. I READ MANY COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES ABOUT BURNING OIL ON VW ENGINES, SO I REACHED OUT TO SOMEONE THAT I KNOW AND SPECIALIZED IN EUROPEAN CARS. I ASKED MY FRIEND AND MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND THAT IT WILL GET WORSE WERE IT WILL BURN MORE OIL. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT VW KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE ISSUES WITH THESE ENGINES,SOMETHING WITH BAD CYLINDER SEALS AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT FOR LAST 12 YEARS HOW TO FIX IT AND WOULD NOT ADMIT IT. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE IN WHICH I'VE EXPERIENCE THIS UNEVEN LAG. On multiple occasions, while driving on the highway, subject vehicle displayed check engine light and EPC light at random intervals and an alarm saying exceeded 4000 came on. RPM's were not over 4000. Speed and acceleration severely limited making it dangerous to pull over on the highway in traffic. Had to pull car over and restart engine. This has happened numerous times. Also experienced shaking and skipping or missing of transmission. The car has also had the engine stall or stop when at red light or stopped forcing restart of engine.

The first time this problem occurred was in April right after a routine maintenance check. The car was idling in a parking lot when the engine started to vibrate and a warning was displayed that said "Max Engine Speed 4000 RPM". The car was turned off and then back on. The warning did show up on the display, but the "check engine" light was lit. The car was driven back home, and after that drive the check engine light was not lit anymore. To be safe the car was taken to the dealer. The dealer was not able to replicate the issue. Later, in July, the max engine speed and EPC warnings were displayed on the screen in the middle of a trip. At this time there was also a loss of acceleration power. The driver pulled over, stopped the car, and then restarted it. When the car restarted the warning lights were no longer on so the driver completed the trip. In the manual it says that the car can still be operated if the EPC warning light is on, but that it should be taken to a dealer. This led the driver to believe that it was safe to complete the trip and take the car to their home dealership after the holiday. The following day, the EPC warning light and the max engine speed warning both appeared in the middle of a drive. The driver was driving up a hill on a backroad with no possible pull off. The driver had to stop the car in the middle of a road directly after a blind turn. The driver restarted the car and was able to drive about 10 yards before the warning came on again and the engine cut out. The driver repeated turning the car off and then back on multiple times to be able to safely get the car up the hill and to an area where a pull-off was available. Luckily, no other cars were coming at the time the car was stalled. It was a very unsafe location! The car is currently in the process of being towed to the dealer to be worked on. This seems like a very serious safety concern that is affecting other Tiguan owners too.

Car has multiple malfunctions. Has had noisy valvetrain, lack of power upon acceleration, has sputtered with a load on engine especially uphill. Car shut off completely while at 60 mph and nearly caused a catastrophic collision with my whole family in the car. Car presents substantial safety risk. Multiple codes/warnings have flashed up on the display screen(Evap,Trans,fuel inj,etc). Transmission went into "emergency mode" after being started up today, then went away after restarted. Car has been to dealership but issues were not properly addressed/ignored. VW of America is well aware of issues with these cars but ignores the consumers needs and puts consumers at great safety risk by doing so. This vehicle has both engine and transmission issues as well as odd electrical anomalies.

Seatbelt is not functioning adequately. The seatbelt itself that’s contained in the column near the door is not retracting or staying taught when in use. It’s very loose and something inside is rattling when ejected, and it has to be manually assisted to retract.

Car has 50k miles on it. Around 35k miles I started hearing noises in the suspension. Took it in and my tires are wearing uneven and bubbling. Mechanic told me my shocks are bad. I know there was a recall on some 2018 tiguans for poor welding of shocks. Not sure if there is a bigger problem affecting more tiguans.

The car has had 10 safety recalls with one being the suspension. The suspension problem hasn’t been fixed as the car makes a loud clunking noise when driving it. My car has been to Volkswagen twice and they stated that the car was fine and they have no solution for the sound. This really needs to investigated. I googled the noise to see what it was and there are a lot of people that are complaining about this noise. I just bought my car and I’m literally about to trade it in because of this.

THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DISLOCATED LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN INITIALLY TOWED TO THREE COUNTY VOLKSWAGEN (701 RIVERSIDE AVE, LYNDHURST, NJ 07071) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT SCRAPED THE SIDE OF THE CURB WITH BOTH PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HUDSON VALLEY VOLKSWAGEN WHERE THEY PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE GET A PERFECT ALIGNMENT. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTAC THAT IT APPEARED THAT AN UNNAMED PART OF THE VEHICLE WAS BENT BUT THAT THE BEND COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DECLINED THE DIAGNOSTIC. THE CONTACT WAS ASSURED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V324000 (SUSPENSION) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO GENSINGER VOLKSWAGEN (842 VALLEY RD, CLIFTON, NJ 07013) WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY AGREED WITH THE INITIAL DEALER THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED ON HIS VEHICLE SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THE BALL JOINT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,700.

I was involved in a head-on collision going 35mph. The airbags failed to deploy. Due to this fact, my leg arms, and shoulder took all the force of the accident causing edema and bursitis to my left shoulder. The car was towed to one of State Farm’s Collison centers where it was inspected. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to total failure of the system.

- Power steering pump PN#5QN-423-055-A, not sure if dealer kept. - Risk to both as lost all power steering in winter weather. - Yes, confirmed defective by dealer - I do not know if they did additional inspection or send to Manufacturer. - On [XXX] a yellow power steering light illuminated while driving and steering became more difficult. I took vehicle home and reached out to Volkswagen and then to local service center where I purchased. I was given a date of 2 weeks out at the Countryside, IL location and then was told the Orland Park, IL location could accept my vehicle on [XXX] which when I started the vehicle and the yellow light was now red and had completely lost power steering. I had vehicle dropped off in early AM. I was told they cannot provide a loaner because they are all out because they have so many vehicles in for repair. I did not get any response about situation for over a week and after few calls a week and half later I was told the rack and pinion needs to be replaced & the part is backordered & not expected until March 7, 2014. The service advisor told me they have been experiencing many issues with power steering, engine, turbo, timing chain errors, and a # more of issues throughout their lineup. I asked a percentage and he stated 30-40%, this shocked me completely. He calmly said that they produce so many vehicles that this is a low #? I reached out to Countryside, IL told them that I need a vehicle it the interim after negotiation they finally agreed to transfer vehicle to their location and provide a loaner. I was required to to get vehicle there myself on [XXX] I was not able to start vehicle because battery was dead, after jump still red light no power steering. Was told that typically they don't do transfers and would have to diagnose again. My 2018 Tiguan won’t turn on. The dash says, “Steering Lock Fault. Stop!” I towed it to the dealership and they replaced the steering column. Four days later it happened again while I was in the middle of the city at night and couldn’t go anywhere. This is a safety hazard because it could mean even after a repair, it can continue to lock up and not turn on out of no where. Both times there was never any warning given anywhere by the vehicle that this could happen. Just out of the blue it decides not to turn on and gives me that message.

Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer. The contact was informed that the bolt had fractured inside the rack and pinion. The contact called the manufacturer but was unable to reach a representative. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND SUDDENLY MY CAR STARTED VEERING STRONGLY TO THE LEFT, HEADING ME DIRECTLY TOWARDS THE CONCRETE MEDIAN. I STRUGGLED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TO CORRECT BACK TO MY LANE BUT ENDED UP MOVING 2 LANES OVER AND ALMOST INTO THE MEDIAN. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE BACK A BIT ONE LANE OVER BUT SEEMED TO HAVE ALMOST NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING. IT SEEMED THE CAR HAD TAKEN OVER STEERING AND I WAS FIGHTING IT, MOVING SIDE TO SIDE AMONG 3 LANES. IT WAS TERRIFYING. IT SEEMED TO TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES OF FIGHTING AND TRYING TO REGAIN CONTROL OF STEERING MY CAR WHEN SUDDENLY I WAS ABLE TO STEER AGAIN AND STAY IN MY LANE. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THE REASON THIS OCCURRED WAS THAT ALL 4 OF THE WHEELS WERE OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THIS MAKES NO SENSE AS I'VE NOT HIT ANY POTHOLES OR ANYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE ONE OR TWO TO BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT, NEVER MIND ALL 4. THEY REALIGNED THE WHEELS AND RESET THE LANE ASSISTANCE. I'VE SINCE TURNED OFF THE LANE ASSISTANCE AS I NO LONGER TRUST THAT FEATURE. TOO BAD SINCE THAT WAS ONE REASON I PURCHASED THAT CAR.

This vehicle has significant, but intermittent issues with acceleration; it seems mostly when the AC is on or it is cold out (below 40). Vehicle will hesitate, or entirely not respond, to the gas pedal. When this occurs, acceleration is even less predictable (and slower) than a diesel truck. When it does not occur, the acceleration was zippy and fast. Unfortunately, this erratic lag is extremely dangerous - especially when attempting to merge on the highway. I can step on the gas repeatedly and nothing happens, but then the car will accelerate in a manner which feels out of control. Driving in "sport" mode seems to prevent this, so I am inclined to think there is an issue with how the vehicle has been programmed - versus a mechanical issue with the engine. I know some "Eco" modes tend to make cars less responsive to acceleration (in order to save fuel) but this is extreme.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AT HIGHWAY SPEED (70MPH), AN ERROR APPEARED SAYING THE ENGINE HAD EXCEEDED 4000RPM, WHICH IT HADN'T, AND THEN IT SHUT OFF FOR "SAFETY". WE LOST THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AT 70MPH. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD, STOP AND RESTART THE CAR AND PROCEED HOME. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. THE CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALER. The contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65-70 MPH, a loud explosion was heard coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the sunroof glass had exploded. There was no impact to the sunroof that could have caused the sunroof glass to explode. The contact safely removed her child from the vehicle. No injuries were sustained, and medical attention was not received. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

The automatic emergency braking activated and slammed on the brakes, for no apparent cause. There were no cars, people, animals around. And luckily, no car was behind mine. This has happened NUMEROUS times previously, especially when going through roundabouts and downhill. This issue needs to be addressed by VW. I have mentioned it to service at a VW dealer, and they just tell you to turn off the front brake assist, but that is not a solution. Plus, you would have to turn it off EVERY time you start your car.

The contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while the cruise control was activated with a vehicle in the lane directly next to the vehicle or two lanes over, the Collision Avoidance System would determine that the vehicles were too close and the Crash Imminent Braking System would activate and stop the vehicle. The issue most recently occurred while driving 70 MPH causing the contact to aggressively depress the accelerator pedal. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who informed him that there was no malfunction detected. The contact spoke to the manufacturer who informed him that the issue was known however, there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

This vehicle's forward collision warning system is inaccurate and dangerous. It is very prone to errant activation. At least once a month, the vehicle's collision system would detect objects that were not there (often, when there was no traffic and also no roadway barriers like guardrails). These activations would result in the vehicle slamming on it's breaks, which culminated in warped brakes and premature wear on the vehicle. It was also hazardous to any vehicles driving behind me, as well as occupants of the vehicle - due to sudden jarring. My local VW dealer acknowledged this is a common problem with no solution, and not worth doing diagnostics on.

Like many other people who have complained, the same EPC engine light turning on after the engine stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times while driving on the highway while going 65mph+. The max speed 4000 rpm message comes on the dashboard. The car does not accelerate and pulling over is necessary in order to shut off the car and restart the engine. This is incredibly dangerous and the car’s speed cannot be controlled.

THE CAR GETS FILLED WITH STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE CABIN AND I WAS LOOSING GAS AT A RAPID RATE IN ADDITION THE CAR WAS LOOSING SPEED. THERE IS ALSO THE PROBLEM WITH THE STO-START SYSTEM, ONCE THE CAR WAS AT A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND START AGAIN. IT WOULD GET STUCKTRYING TO TURN ON AND AT THE SAME TIME I WAS LOOSING GASOLINE. I HAD TO REMOVE ALL PASSENGERS FROM THE VEHICLE INCLUDING MY ONE MONTH GRAND SON DUE TO THE STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. IT MAKES TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY, ACCELERATE INTO ANOTHER LANE, OR TURN ONTO A STREET VERY DANGEROUS AS I CANNOT BE CERTAIN WHEN IT WILL ACCELERATE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS IN ALL MODES (ECO, NORMAL, SPORT). I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO A DEALERSHIP ONCE BUT THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. VEHICLE TAKEN TO SERVICE CENTER MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. ON FIRST ENCOUNTER, TECHNICIAN INSTRUCTED SIMPLY TO RESET VEHICLE. WHEN TAKEN SECOND TIME, CODE P0203 INJECTOR SHORT CIRCUIT CYL 3 WAS DIAGNOSED AND ENGINE HARNESS REPLACED. HOWEVER, ISSUE CONTINUED. WHEN TAKEN THIRD TIME, INJECTOR HARNESS REPLACED.

MY WIFE CALLED ME PANICKED BECAUSE HER 2018 VW TIGUAN SEL, WITH 8000 MILES, CUT OUT ON HER WHILE SLOWLY PULLING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION. SHE DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM AS IF THE CAR LOST COMPLETE POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS, EVEN THOUGH SHE DID NOT HAVE HER FOOT ON THE BREAK AT THE TIME, AND THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. MY WIFE QUICKLY PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, WHERE IT RESPONDED WELL MOVING BACKWARDS, AND THREW ON HER HAZARDS. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD AND SHE IS DEATHLY SCARED OF DRIVING IT NOW. TWO DAYS LATER ON 02/12/18 ON MY COMMUTE TO WORK I BEGAN HEARING A "POPPING" NOISE FROM THE B-PILARS ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE PILARS. AS IF THOUGH SOMETHING WAS LOOSE INSIDE THERE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY, 02/17/2018 AND WHEN I WENT IN FOR THE APPOINTMENT THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. MY FRONT ASSIST FUNCTION MALFUNCTIONED. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 50MPH AND THE CAR CAME TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP. THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS ALMOST CHOKED ME, AND THE SUDDEN STOP JARRED ME. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE FRONT OF ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I'VE BEEN TERRIFIED EVERY SINCE IT HAPPENED. IT HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE, BUT THIS THIRD TIME WAS THE WORST. THE NEXT MORNING I CONTACTED VW, AND TOOK MY CAR IN. THEY TEST DROVE MY CAR. I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AND TO COME PICK UP MY VEHICLE. I EXPRESSED TO THEM THAT SOMETHING DEFINITELY WAS WRONG. I SUGGESTED THEM DO MORE DIAGNOSTICS, BUT THEY DID NOT. I CALLED CORPORATE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THEY DID DOCUMENT MY CLAIM AND GAVE ME A CLAIM NUMBER. IN THE MEANTIME I STARTED DOING SOME INVESTIGATIONS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT INVESTIGATION GOING ON. I ALSO FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF THIS INCIDENT HAPPENING ON ANOTHER VEHICLE.

I originally started out at World Kia in Matteson, where I was approved for a newer vehicle. But then they suddenly changed their minds and tried to put me in an older car instead. That rubbed me the wrong way, so I went to their Joliet location hoping for better service. Boy, was I wrong. Even though they had already run my credit in Matteson, they reran it again in Joliet, which made no sense and damaged my credit even more. I really needed a car at the time, so I felt pressured and couldn’t walk away. After I bought the car, it broke down shortly after, and I was never given any paperwork about its condition or inspection. They sold it to me “as-is,” but I later found out that under Illinois law, used cars must be safe and reliable for at least 15 days or 500 miles, even when sold “as-is.” My car didn’t meet that standard at all. The car has suspension issues which is very dangerous. The mechanic stated to not drive the car at all it's a safety hazard and I could cause a major accident. There is no recall on my vin#, but several other owners have had the same issues based of the information on the website. I just want some kind of resolution. I'm still responsible for the car, which is so unfair. This has caused so much stress that I have no clue what to do. please help. THE CAR HAS HAD A DISTINCT NOISE WHEN DRIVING. I COMPLAINED EVERY TIME WE WERE IN AND FINALLY JUNE OF 2019 I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ALIGNMENT AFTER I HAD REPEATEDLY TOLD THEM IT WAS THE WHEEL BEARINGS. AFTER PAYING FOR A NEW ALIGNMENT I WAS TOLD THAT YES THE WHEEL BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED AND THAT BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE ISSUES MY TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. I HAD THAT DONE, A MONTH LATER I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED ANOTHER ALIGNMENT! I TOLD THEM IT WAS JUST DONE! THEY ASSURED ME THAT I WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. IF IT WAS ACTUALLY DONE, I WILL NEVER KNOW. EVEN AFTER ALL OF THIS THE CAR STARTED MAKING THE NOISE AGAIN! I DON'T HAVE TIME TO GO BACK AND FORTH. I FINALLY GOT FED UP AND WENT IN ON A SATURDAY. Vehicle sending transmission alarms and also exit vehicle in P mode only alarm. First had issue around 25,000 miles and gear shift assembly was replaced under warranty for what I was told was a faulty sensor. Same issue returned at 100,000 miles and Volkswagon is replacing the gear shift assembly again at customers expense. I was told by Volkswagon that the car is safe to drive.

THE VW-EQUIPPED ENTERTAINMENT CENTER DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER PROCESSING POWER TO EFFECTIVELY USE APPLE CARPLAY. SINCE NEW, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE APPLE CARPLAY, THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL FREEZE, MALFUNCTION, OR OTHERWISE FAIL AFTER THE IPHONE IS PLUGGED IN. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AT LEAST 50% OF THE TIME, AND REQUIRES THE ENTIRE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM TO UNDERGO A 'HARD' RESET IN ORDER TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. The panoramic sunroof continually leaks into the rear c-pillar. Each time it rains the seat belts become saturated with rain water. I am of the opinion this will cause more rapid deterioration of the seat belts than usual. Additionally, water ponds in the rear floor boards and is a mold hazard. The last rain, the rear seat also became saturated and our baby's carseat got wet. VW claims there is no defect in the sunroof.

While driving down the highway, my car completely shut off and shut down while going 45mph. Due to everything shutting off, there were no brake lights, hazards, blinkers, etc that I was able to use to warn other drivers of what was happening, therefore I was almost hit multiple times. It turned back on, then back off while driving, 4 more times until the final time when it would not turn back on or turn over at all, I had to pull off the road and it wouldn’t turn back on again. At this time I got the battery tested and it was bad. I bought the new battery and the new battery didn’t change anything. It still was doing the same thing, not turning on at all. Not even trying to turn over to turn on. I had my vehicle towed to the Volkswagen dealership in Ocala on college road. While at this shop, they have told me that the NEW battery is what has cause the issues, which is incorrect as the issues began BEFORE I got a new battery. They are also saying that because I got a new battery that they will not cover the repairs under my warranty. I had to get in a new battery for my safety after almost being hit on the highway due to the electronics or other issues being faulty in the car.

2018 TIGUAN WAS PURCHASED NEW IN APRIL - MID MAY CAR WOULD NOT START, ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON. CAR EVENTUALLY TURNED ON. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING (ON THE ROAD), CAR STOPPED COMPLETELY, ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON. HAD TO BE TOWED TO CLOSEST VW WHERE IT WOULD REMAIN FOR OVER A MONTH. FIRST DIAGNOSED AS UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL PROB - NEEDED TO BE ANALYZED BY VW ENGINEER WHO BELIEVED IT TO BE THE BATTERY. NEW BATTERY DID NOT REMEDY ISSUE - NEW ALTERNATOR WAS ORDERED, AGAIN DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. FINALLY WAS IDENTIFIED AS A ISSUING WITH THE WIRING BEING STRIPPED. FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE IN MY NEW CAR - HAS ALSO BEEN EFFECTED BY TWO RECALLS SINCE (IN ADDITION TO THE ONE MONTH IN THE VW DEALERSHIP FROM NON RECALL ISSUE) - CURRENT SUNROOF RECALL HAS NO FIX ONLY A TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO DISCONNECT THE WIRING - I FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE IN THE CAR AND WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. CAR SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK BY VW - OPEN RECALLS WITH NO FIX LEAVE THE CAR WORTHLESS. WHAT ELSE WILL GO WRONG WITH THE 2018 TIGUAN - WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER VW IN THE FUTURE.

THE VEHICLE HAS A START/STOP FEATURE THAT IS ON BY DEFAULT AND IS DANGEROUS WHEN WAITING TO MAKE A TURN. IT TEMPORARILY SHUTS THE CAR DOWN AND RESTARTS UPON RELEASE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MOVE THE CAR FORWARD WHICH CAUSES SEVERE HESITATION IN EXCELLERATION. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE JERKS AND HESITATES. WHEN IT DOES FINALLY KICK IN IT CAUSES THE CAR TO SURGE FORWARD TO FAST AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AND HANDLE IN A TURN, EPECIALLY WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HEARD FROM THE SERVICE TEAM THERE WERE THREE OTHER VW CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM SO THE QA TEAM CAME DOWN TO SERVICE STATION TO LOOK AT ALL CASES. QA TEAM CHECKED IT MULTIPLE TIMES. REMEDIES I HEARD FROM THEM INVOLVED "TRIMMING" AND ORDERING NEW PARTS. NOTHING IS FIXED AND THE WORDS I AM HEARING FROM SERVICE IS THAT THERE IS NO HOPE TO EVER GET FIXED. One time the car Just Lost power on the freeway and the e-card engine light came on and the cat Ran rugh and stalled and jerked hard almost causing me to cause a serious accident...I took it to vw and explained the severity and they bypassed that And installed a new water pump..2months later the same thing happened exactly to where I was very lucky and very upset...and took it to them once again and explained more issues where I'm urging . As to the front warning light and motion has came into play a few times witch was shocking...also the car would be on slow mo mode....and constant warning lights would come on the dashboard as well as the car would feel so unstable and Feel as if it were On gear 1/L while in the drive position...also the Eco turn of feature would playout ..and stall from time to time..then the car would get stuck on speed when foot would come off the accelerator to brake before a stop sign or red light intersection witch just started to concern me and I again took these concerns to Rick case vw and They thought I was inventing this story..then the car leaked coolant..and it rusted out the whole bottom of my car ..hoses...and they replaced the thermostat this time around and now the car has misfired..could not start ..idle was ver rough and just vibrated dramatically and damaged coils and spakplugs and blew out fuel inject #2 and can't hold pressure past 30 ..changed out the spak plugs and coils and the car is just crippled and its a safety hazard and in many occasions has almost caused me to cause a serious accident...

On September 19th 2025, while driving on the highway at normal speed, the instrument cluster fuel gauge misread the fuel level and indicated that the tank still had fuel. Without any warning light or low-fuel alert, the vehicle suddenly lost power because it was actually out of gas. I was traveling with my boyfriend and our three dogs. We became stranded on the shoulder of a busy highway as vehicles passed at 70–80 mph. The outside temperature was about 85-90 at the time. This created a serious safety hazard: The cluster’s inaccurate fuel reading prevented me from knowing we were nearly empty. The engine shut down unexpectedly, leaving limited steering and braking control as we coasted to the shoulder. We were exposed to high-speed traffic and extreme heat while waiting for assistance. Additional cluster/safety issues observed: No audible turn-signal “click” or indicator sound when using the blinker. No warning chime if the car is left running when the driver exits (for example, if the ignition is on but the door is opened or the key is removed). The vehicle is out of warranty, but the dealership diagnosed a failed instrument cluster and quoted about $2,500 for replacement. Why This Is a Safety Concern: The instrument cluster provides critical driver alerts. Inaccurate fuel readings, lack of turn-signal audio, and the absence of an engine-on warning chime all reduce driver awareness and can directly lead to dangerous situations on the road. Requested Action: I urge NHTSA to investigate whether the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan’s instrument cluster/fuel-level system and related warning features contain a design or manufacturing defect and to consider a recall or other remedy to prevent accidents or injuries.

My vehicle has had repeated issues with passenger airbags, after last repair all of the safety sensors failed and received warning on dashboard (no collision protection, no Adaptive cruise control) after bringing back to dealer car was returned to me and told the parts are unavailable. Currently I have had a vehicle under warranty which has no collision protection features that came with the car. Car by dealer’s own statement it is unsafe to drive yet was returned to us. It has been nearly 3 months and are continually told that there is no fix in site.

When I first purchased my vehicle the epc came on multiple times and I had to take it back to the dealership. Fast forward last week when I was going home on the eway same issues car wouldn’t accelerate the car was idled at the speed of 40mph it wouldn’t go any faster for a few minutes then it took off out of no where. Also when I was taking my kids to school I was making a left turn and lost control of my vehicle because it was idled and took off out of no where. That’s not safe for me my kids or any passengers traveling with me. It’s also not safe for other drivers or pedestrians. Very scary moment took my vehicle in that same day to be told it was battery issues. They claimed because the epc light wasn’t on it’s harder to diagnose to get another battery and to keep the car overnight to see if that works if not further diagnose the car. I picked my vehicle up had my battery inspected by a different service provider and was told the battery was just fine. I keep reaching out to the location I got the vehicle from their not correcting the issue and corporate just told me to go to another dealership and gave a im sorry about your frustration comment. Clearly the car has a defect always had one since day one when it was supposed to be a cpo vehicle in the first place. And I had issues the same week I purchased the vehicle. Also haven’t had my car a year and I’m having all kind of issues

The front passenger door locking system does not function properly. The door intermittently is unable to be unlocked or opened from the outside and must manually be opened from the inside. The door also intermittently doesn't lock. This is a safety concern for thieves. If in immediate danger, ie. accident, no one is able to open the passenger door to access the person. No indication lights appear on the vehicle.

The dealership for my vehicle is over 70 miles away. My battery died and I went and replaced it. When I did all sorts of lights came on in my car, my power steering wouldn’t work, my cruise control wouldn’t work, and my AC wouldn’t work. I took it to the dealership to see what was going on with it. It turns out my battery was placed backwards in my car and when that happened it fried the fuse for my entire system, it broke my AC unit, it broke my alternator, and messed up my electrical system. Yes I do believe there is a risk to my safety with this issue. I could not turn my car when I drove it. I was told by service representative that this has been happening a lot more often with people who are just trying to change the battery. The only time the vehicle was inspected was by the service department at the dealership. No they’re weren’t any problems prior to failure and they appeared after the battery was placed.

At 48k miles, fuel efficiency began to significantly drop. At next start up, engine would not turn over and EPC light came on. I waited 30 minutes, unlocked the steering wheel and was able to start the vehicle and EPC light turned off. I took it into Volkswagen dealership to have it looked over and they could not duplicate the issue nor find cause for lower fuel efficiency. The issue with fuel persisted intermittently. Then at 57k, while driving long distance, I noticed what seemed like misfiring when accelerating above 65 mph. There were no noises, no warning lights, and fuel efficiency seemed about the same. I continued driving and about 6 hours into my drive, EPC light came on, RPM's shot up to 4,000 and car began violently shaking while losing significant power and dropped down to 30 mph. I was in the left lane when it occurred and had to quickly move over to the right lane. The car then could not exceed 40 mph with the pedal held to the floor. I turned on my hazards while I continued driving an additional 30 miles to the nearest Volkswagen dealership. Because of how heavy the traffic was and the high speeds of the travelers, it put myself and my passengers at risk from not being able to accelerate, along with the other drivers having to either brake hard or quickly change lanes to avoid my car. At the Volkswagen dealership, diagnosis found code p0204 cylinder 4 injector. They confirmed 4th cylinder misfiring and replaced the fuel injector harness. Since that repair, my car has been shaking at idol, when initially taking off, and if I turn of the start/stop function.

My VW Tiguan was out of alignment, as happens to every car. Unfortunately, the VW Dealership informed me that I cannot get a simple alignment for $100 because VW requires calibration of the Adaptive Cruise Control any time an alignment is done. I could not find this anywhere in the Owner's Manual, nor are there any other warnings on the car or in any paperwork I signed. The VW dealership wanted an additional $400.00 (for a total exceeding $500) to provide both services. I am concerned about this 1) because VW does not communicate that this is a limitation of the ACC system, and 2) while an alignment should be the customer's responsibility to pay for, calibrating the ACC system should not. Anyone could go get an alignment done at a tire or brake shop for about $100 - what happens if they try to use their ACC afterwards and an accident happens? VW should cover ACC calibration as part of the limited warranty, and clearly warn customers not to perform one service without the other.

THE CAR SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CAR IS 28 MONTHS OLD AND HAS BEEN HAVING THESE ISSUES SINCE 6 MONTHS IN. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT VOLKWAGEN DEALERSHIPS FOR 3-4 WEEKS AT A TIME 4 TIMES ALREADY FOR THE SAME ISSUES. AFTER FUELING UP AT A GAS STATION THE 2018 TIGUAN WOULD NOT START. IT WAS DEAD. STATIONARY AT THE FUEL PUMP. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH TO INDICATE STEERING COLUMN FAILURE. NO SYMPTOMS, THE CAR WOULD NOT TRY TO START OR BEGIN TO START. JUST ERRORS ON DASH. CAR IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD WITH LESS THAN 10K MILES ON IT. DEALER ASKED TECHNICIAN TO JUMP CAR. NO CHANGE. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER INDICATED A NEW STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED AND THAT IT WAS VERY ODD TO HAVE FAILED. IT TAKES A SCARY AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE CAR TO SPEED UP WHEN ACCELERATING. THE RPM MODULE SHOWS THE ACCELERATION BUT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T ACTUALLY SPEED UP TO MATCH IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING ON TO THE FREEWAY. AN ACCIDENT IS BOUND TO HAPPEN AS I AM NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE ON COMING CARS AND AM UNABLE TO GET MY CAR UP TO SPEED TO MATCH THE OTHERS. ALSO, THE CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN WHEN STOPPED, A MESSAGE SAYING PLEASE START ENGINE MANUALLY POPS UP. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN AND IS BOUND TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS IT HAPPENS A FEW TIMES A MONTH. I AM HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY TIGUAN. THE PASSENGER SEAT DETECTION SENSOR IS VERY SENSITIVE. I CAN PLACE MY PHONE OR SOMETHING VERY LIGHT ON THE SEAT AND MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY STARTS TO CHIME AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS TURNED ON. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE ACCIDENT IF NO PASSENGER IS PRESENT. THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS CAR IS THE ACCELERATION IS INCONSISTENT. SOMETIMES I CAN HIT THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR FLIES, OTHER TIMES, THE CAR STUTTERS AND HAS SOME LAG.

VEHICLE ENGAGES AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM WITHOUT ANY PROMPTING...NO OTHER VEHICLE ANYWHERE IN SIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED ON A RURAL TWO LANE ROAD, WITH A FARM ON ONE SIDE AND WOODS ON THE OTHER AND HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON A 4 LANE ROAD WITHIN CITY LIMITS, BUT NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, BUT ONE TO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE IN THE LANE HEADING IN THE SAME DIRECTION. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS IT BRINGS THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP, REGARDLESS OF SPEED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED WHIPLASH ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AS WELL AS MY HUSBAND AND MY 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. THE AMOUNT OF FORCE IS SO VIOLENT THAT I WOULD IMAGINE IT IS EQUIVALENT TO BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD JUST PICKED UP TAKE-OUT ONCE WHEN THIS HAD HAPPENED, AND THE SALSA IN THE TAKEOUT BAG FLEW OFF OF THE BACK SEAT AND THE FORCE CAUSED THE LID TO COME OFF AND SALSA WAS ALL OVER THE 2ND ROW, FRONT ROW, AS WELL AS MYSELF AND WINDSHIELD TO PUT INTO PERSPECTIVE HOW FORCEFUL THIS IS. ON 2/17/2019, MY SISTER & I WERE DRIVING WEST ON SANTA MONICA BLVD. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-45MPH. IT WAS SLIGHTLY OVERCAST. OUT OF NOWHERE, THE CAR'S BRAKES SLAMMED ON, LEAVING US STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF SANTA MONICA BLVD. THE DIGITAL COCKPIT WENT BLACK & A RED WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ACROSS IT. I ASKED MY SISTER TO GRAB THE OWNERS MANUAL TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. AFTER SHE GRABBED IT, THE VEHICLE STARTED DRIVING AGAIN & SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE DIGITAL COCKPIT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. IT TURNED OUT THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT ASSIST SYSTEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/21/2019. ON 4/6/2019, HAVING FIXED NOTHING, THEY FORCED ME TO TAKE MY CAR BACK. THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON 2/25/2019 THAT MY SISTER & I SAW, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO PROVIDE ME A COPY OF. IN THAT DIAGNOSTIC IT DID SHOW THAT THE DISTANCE MONITORING SYSTEM FAILED IN 11/2018. THE FRONT ASSIST DOES NOT SHOW A FAIL OR THAT IT HAS EVER BEEN ACTIVATED. BECAUSE MY DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO 'DUPLICATE' THE MALFUNCTION, I AM BEING TOLD THAT THIS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE CAR. VW ALSO WANTED ME TO KEEP A JOURNAL FOR WHEN THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENS AGAIN - AS I'VE EXPLAINED TO VW & MY DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS THERE COULD BE AN ACCIDENT THAT RESULTS IN INJURY OR DEATH. IN THE FIRST MONTH OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS DISPLAYED INTERMITTENT LOSS OF RESPONSE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS OCCURS WHEN FIRST SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY INPUT INTO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE ENGINE RPMS WILL HOLD AT 1000 OR DROP TO ALMOST STALLING THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS OF THIS, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY RECOGNIZE THE THROTTLE INPUT AND WILL LURCH FORWARD. THERE IS NO INDICATION OF WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL DECIDE TO RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE INPUT. THE B-PILLAR ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR STARTED TO RATTLE WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS OVER ~55 F. THIS HAS BEEN SERVICED ONCE, PER A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM VOLKSWAGEN. THE SERVICE SIMPLY MADE THE PROBLEM INTERMITTENT. THE TSB STATES THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE AIR BAG MODULES RUBBING ON THE METAL OF THE FRAME AND BODY. ADDITIONALLY THE TSB PROCEDURE INSTRUCTS THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO SLIDE A SCREW DRIVER BETWEEN TWO PIECES OF BODY OR FRAME METAL, AND USE A HAMMER TO BEND THE PANELS APART FROM EACH OTHER. HAS THIS BE PROVEN TO NOT COMPROMISE THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE? THE TRANSMISSION CONSISTENTLY FAILS TO FIND THE CORRECT GEAR TO BE IN AT LOW SPEEDS OR FROM A STOP. WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION HAS A HARSH SHIFT IN THE FIRST 3 GEARS. THE TRANSMISSION AT TIME WILL START OFF IN THE 3RD GEAR, WITH THE THROTTLE FULLY ENGAGED, AND WILL TAKE SEVERAL SECONDS TO DETERMINE THAT IT NEEDS TO BE IN THE FIRST GEAR. BY THE TIME IT FINALLY SHIFTS INTO FIRST, IT IS AT THE PEAK RPM'S FOR FIRST GEAR AND WILL HARSHLY SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR. THIS IS THEN QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER JERKY SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR. STARTING THE CAR OFF IN THIRD GEAR HAS CAUSED ISSUES FOR MAKING A TURN IN A BREAK IN TRAFFIC TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN NO LONGER RELIABLY DEEM THAT TO BE A SAFE MANEUVER.

THERE IS A RECALL FOR SUNROOF LIGHTING: FROM VW WEBSITE: HIGH HUMIDITY IN THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF AMBIENT LIGHTING BAR LED MODULE (CAUSED BY ENVIRONMENT OR BY LEAVING THE SUNROOF OPEN) COULD LEAD TO A LOCAL SHORT CIRCUIT. IF THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS A RISK OF A FIRE. SO, I BOUGHT HIGHER MODEL BECAUSE I WANTED THIS FEATURE, BUT NOW I CANNOT USE IT BECAUSE VW IS GOING TO DISCONNECT IT? WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SET TO AUTOMATIC THEY ARE ALWAYS ON. THEY DON'T TURN OFF WHEN YOUR DRIVING IN FULL SUNSHINE. B PILLAR RATTLE HAS GOTTEN STEADILY WORSE ON BOTH SIDES. WHEN I'M GIVING GAS/ ACCELERATING, THERE IS A "HISSING-SOUND" COMING FROM OUTSIDE AND MORE CLEARER AND LOUDER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE PERSON POSITION. CAN HEAR IT EVEN CLEAR IF I ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. SOUND STARTS COMING ANYWHERE FROM 0 - MAX MPH NO MATTER WHICH ROADS I DRIVE IN. DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHICH PART OF THE CAR IS DOING THE SOUND BUT "ACCELERATION" IS THE CAUSING IT AND WHEN I LET THE CAR ROLL WITHOUT GIVING GAS, THE SOUND STOPS. SO YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GIVE GAS/ PRESS ACCELERATION PEDAL TO HEAR THIS SOUND. ITS BEEN 9 MONTHS SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR AND HAS ROUGHLY 11K MILES ON IT. (TIGUAN SE 2018 4MOTION) SOUNDS FROM DRIVER'S SIDE B COLUMN IS ALSO NOTICEABLY LOUD WHEN DRIVING.

THE CAR DOES NOT GET MORE THAN 316 MILES TO A FULL TANK. IT ALSO FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKING YOU FORWARD WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO BE REALLY SLUGGISH. THIS IS ALSO DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT ON A BUSY STREET. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DROVE IT CAME BACK AND TOLD ME I SHOULD ONLY FILL UP AT CERTAIN GAS STATIONS. THEY GAVE ME A LIST AND SAID I HAVE TO USE ONLY PREMIUM GAS I. THE CAR AND ONLY FILL UP AT THESE STATIONS IF I WANT THE EXPECTED GAS MILEAGE.

1) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE A VERY SHORT RANGE, PERHAPS AS LITTLE AS 100 FEET WITH A VERY SHARP CUT-OFF. ALMOST HIT A DEER BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH, I COULD BARELY SEE THE DEER AS IT CROSSED THE ROAD. THIS WAS EVIDENT ON A STRAIGHT COUNTRY ROAD WITH NO STREET LIGHTS WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION DRIVING STRAIGHT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON LOW LIT OR UNLIT ROADS AT NIGHT. THE FIX WOULD BE A REDESIGNED HEADLAMPS (BOTH SIDES) OR A BRIGHTER BULBS. NHTSA SAFETY RATING SITE SHOWS THE PROBLEM CLEARLY. IT'S DANGEROUS. 2) WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONTINUE TO STREAK ALTHOUGH THEY WERE REPLACED BY THE VW DEALER, ELGIN VW, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE STREAKING CREATES A BLIND SPOT ON THE RIGHT PART OF THE WINDSHIELD. UNABLE TO SEE TO THE RIGHT FRONT AT INTERSECTIONS.

PURCHASED THE 2018 TIGUAN ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, ENTERED SERVICE ON OCTOBER 10TH WITH TWO B PILLAR RATTLES, EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE FROM DRIVERS DOOR AND A SCREEN FLICKER WITH THE BACK-UP CAMERA. CAR HAS REMAINED IN SERVICE FOR 21 DAYS AND NO RESOLUTION FROM VOLKSWAGEN.
