My 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan suddenly shut off on the highway with my children in the car. The vehicle lost all power, including steering, air conditioning, radio, navigation, and windows. I was barely able to coast to safety. The dealership diagnosed the issue as the ignition switch, part number 5Q1 905 865. This is the exact same part number included in Volkswagen’s current recall of nearly 50,000 Jettas for ignition switch failure. Despite this, VW has not expanded the recall to cover Tiguans. I paid over $700 for the repair, even though the part itself costs around $50. Worse, the dealership reinstalled the same recalled part number into my Tiguan, meaning the defect has not been corrected and could occur again at any time. This is a serious safety hazard. A sudden engine shutdown at highway speeds could easily result in injury or death. Volkswagen is fully aware of this defect but is refusing to extend the recall to affected Tiguan vehicles. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue immediately and require Volkswagen to expand the ignition switch recall to include Tiguans equipped with part number 5Q1 905 865.

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving in extremely hot weather, the fault code message stating that the ignition was switched off, check the starter system, and to please pull over to the side of the road was displayed, while emitting a beeping sound to alarm the driver. The electrical systems, excluding the engine, became disabled. The contact stated that the headlights, taillights, instrument panel, and several other electrical functions were inoperable. The driver coasted to the side of the road and waited until the engine had cooled off before continuing to drive. The failure occurred consistently, in approximately 2 to 3 minutes, causing the driver to repeat the actions for the vehicle to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The code starter fault error message was displayed; however, the dealer did not believe the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V60400 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the Part Number: 521905865; for the ignition switch, was the same and believed that the failure was related to the recall. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure because the temperature was not 90 degrees or higher. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,103.

Volkswagen Recall: 28H7-Ignition Switch. In vehicles equipped with a conventional ignition switch, the polyfuse can fail, particularly when the vehicle is operated in high temperature environments. If the polyfuse fails, it can result in the engine stalling while driving and failure of the vehicle's electrical system, increasing the risk of a crash. When sitting in the sun, this has happened 5 or so times. Yesterday it was only 77 degrees outside and it happened. The electrical shuts off completely. No brake lights, no blinkers, no odometer reading, nothing. The windows worked once. And several times, the car will still drive; however it is terrifying driving in these conditions. After letting it sit in the shade overnight, the car wont start the first time and then usually starts the second attempt. I have had the car shut off one time after the electrical stopped working, my car shut off as well. This is the exact thing that is happening to my 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan; however, when I call the dealership, they say that this recall does not apply to my VIN #.

My car dash and all electrical components are shutting off WHILE I’m driving! All needles go to 0, radio shuts off, AC/HEATER, turn signals, brake lights, headlights, ect. The engine seems to run for a moment and then shuts off. Once the car is pulled over to the side of the road (if I make it!) and turn the car completely off and try to start it again, it won’t turn on immediately. I’ve had to sit for 5 -10 minutes on the side of the freeway multiple times on my way home from work as the car would continue to shut down on me. It’s absolutely terrifying. Luckily I wasn’t driving at night and was visible in the daylight and LUCKILY I didn’t have my children in the car with me when this has happened.

When the car is at a complete stop such as at a light or pulling onto a street, when you press the gas there will be a delay before it lurches forward. This becomes a very real safety risk trying to pull onto busy roads or even at lights. This car has been taken into multiple shops without it being fixed, the last one kept saying they had no idea why since there are no warning lights. They said they contacted VW who is saying a 5 second delay is within what they consider normal. It's not normal and is a very real risk and has almost caused us to get into numerous accidents.

On [XXX] my sunroof spontaneously shattered while my husband and I were driving down a country road in New Hampshire. There were only pine trees on either side of the road, and nothing dropped on the roof to shatter the glass. The glass rained down on me and the pop noise was very alarming. The only thing we can surmise is that the glass shattered due to temperature differential whereby the hot outside air, since it was an August day, and the cold air conditioning inside the car stressed the glass. However, we have never had this happen before in any car. We were grateful the glass did not fall into our eyes but this could have had a very different outcome. We became concerned for people in climates like Arizona or Florida who may experience this danger, especially when driving on the highway. Regardless, the sunroof glass should be able to withstand the heat of the outdoors and the Volkswagen air-conditioning system. We concluded that this had to be a defect in the glass used, and we feel compelled to write and report this incident. We were put at risk by shattered glass raining down on the front seats, and the dealer was unresponsive and said the sunroof shattering spontaneously was not typical. Moldy smell in car. Wet seatbelt back passenger and carpet on floor. When seatbelt pulled out, wet and moldy smelling. Sunroof cloth has water stains from what appears to be a leak even though sunroof is closed. Car smells like mold and I am concerned to be breathing it. I am in remission from Pulmonary Sarcoidosis and any environmental irritants put me at risk significantly of relapse and I could get a fungal infection. I need this addressed as I do not want to be at risk, nor do I want anyone else jeopardized. MOLD SPORES are DANGEROUS. I called VW and they told me it was part of a recall but my car does not qualify because of my mileage. I have 124K miles. This is a serious problem, and VW is not willing to help me. This is a manufacturer defect and I want it addressed and fixed by VW.

I purchased a 2019 Tiguan as a low milage Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. In less than a year, it's been in the dealership for weeks due to an unidentified water leak. Apparently, VW's panoramic sunroof is prone to leaking. The first time I brought it in, they could not find a leak but there was obviously mold all over the rear passenger floorboard. They charged me roughly $500 to clean the drains and sent me on my way. A couple months later, the leak and mold showed up again, so I brought it back to the dealership. Without completely explaining the fix plan moving forward, they completely disassembled the interior everything from the seats, headliner and trim panels all the way to the metal! Still unable to duplicate the leak, they hired a leak specialist, and still could not find a leak. They finally called me and tried to charge me to reassemble the vehicle. As a young military family, all I value is a safe reliable vehicle, and this vehicle has been nothing but a nightmare. If there is any way you can point me in the right direction to move forward on this known issue, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again for your time. Aaron

Panoramic sunroof shattered. Looks like it bubbled upwards and exploded. No rock. No defect. Car was parked in my driveway with no trees or rocks or anything around. Motion security cameras don’t have anyone coming on my driveway. This looks like my sunroof popped. So weird. I cut my hand on the glass.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Around 8 times now if my vehicle senses something in the front it will abruptly brake very hard. There doesn’t have to be anything in the view, simply pulling out of a gas station it will do, and it’s almost caused a collision, as it takes a few seconds to be able to disable, manually. This is extremely dangerous, and is going to eventually hurt someone seriously. It is imperative that something be done concerning this issue before innocent people get hurt as a result of a faulty braking sensor. Please take this complaint seriously as it has on multiple occasions almost caused a collision. Thank you!

Since 03/2023, I have experienced several false applications of the automatic emergency braking system. One particular incident involved the vehicle going 75mph on the freeway when the braking system has been applied. Other times have been between 20-40mph on city roads. I have reported this to the local dealer, they have the logs of my car doing this however they will not release them to me. Volkswagen has offered a warranty extension on this issue, however that's not a solution. I work in automotive repair, this is a software programming issue. Volkswagen has no fix. This car is going to kill me or someone else. Please review all the other similar complaints with this year, make and model.

The automatic emergency braking(AEB) on the vehicle is too sensitive or goes off for no reason. On multiple occasions I the AEB system goes off when exiting parking lots onto busy streets. On one occasion the driver behind me had to suddenly stop to avoid rear ending my car. On a separate occasion the system when off while turning right onto a busy street. The right turn could have been performed safely but the system went off leaving my car in the middle of the road while cars were headed my way which could have cause my car to be t-bones if the drivers were speeding or not paying attention. My wife and kids were in the car with me. The system causes you to to come to a complete stop and unable to disengage the brake for 5-10 seconds. There have been other incidents where luckily the streets were not so busy.

I was driving down a completely clear road, not a single car or turn in sight. When suddenly my cars front collision warning comes on the screen and brakes my car for me. There was no advance warning, just hard braking.

Driving my car on highway at 74 mph with no cars in front of or around me when the car braking system engaged by itself causing my Tiguan to slow from 74 to 50 in seconds. Took car into Vw dealer and had it there for 8 days. Was told there was no code from a scan and no duplication on test drive. Test drive was all of 3 miles.Dealer kept referring to TSB 45-21-01 vw bulletin. Turns out on research VW bulletin of that number is part of lawsuits. Having the brakes engage like that certainly put myself in danger of being hit/rear ended. Told by dealer "vehicle is operating normally when compared to another vehicle same model." Lastly was told by dealer if I was that concerned about it happening again why don't I trade it in for a new car. Some fix that is.

The car is burning a large amount of oil. I have taken it to the dealer for an oil consumption test 3 times. Every time, VW has indicated that the problem is normal. A tech stated that it is normal to burn a quart of oil every 1000 miles between oil changes. The engine has not ceased yet but it is a real fear of mine, especially since I drive my son in this car.

Road trip from VA to NJ approx 700 mi. Mid-trip, stopped for fuel and oil check. Thereafter, engine started to run rough. Check engine MIL on. Could not find any problem. Back on road. Received a low engine oil warning. Checked engine, oil all over back of engine compartment. Shut down engine and towed to nearest VW dealer. Found engine dipstick not completely seated. I checked and measured force needed to completely seat dipstick, at 30 lbs. Dipstick insert sleeve is plastic. Dipstick can be inserted to bottom w/o seating. Any leakage of vacuum from this engine causes extreme performance problems. Oil spewing in engine compartment is a significant fire hazard.

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced rough starts. Additionally, the vehicle drove rough and there was an oil odor present while driving. Upon inspection, it was discovered that there was no oil on the dip stick. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the turbo was faulty and needed to be replaced. The turbo was replaced but the failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 35,000.

SERVICE BRAKES

At 79,200 mi. metallic grinding noise was coming from rear wheel. Disassembly of rear brake pads on driver side revealed inner brake pad completely worn to the metal backing (no braking material remaining.) An inspection of the pad showed that the manufacturer installed the pad such that the brake pad wear indicator was positioned too far from the pad. The wear indicator never made contact with the pad and therefore, never made the characteristic high pitched audible tone as the inner pad reached critical wear. This resulted in a complete failure of the driver side rear brake pad.

The electronic parking brake would not disengage. After trying all the tips found online I finally got it to disengage but now it won’t re-engage and I am getting a warning “electronic brake fault” on the dash. It’s very dangerous not to have a working parking brake.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED.

MY VEHICLE'S FRONT ASSIST COLLISION SENSOR WILL ENGAGE ITSELF WHILE GOING DOWN SOME DRIVEWAYS REGARDLESS OF HOW SLOW OR ANGLED I TRY TO EXIT (I ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT MY EXIT AND TURNS ARE SAFE FROM ANY ONGOING TRAFFIC SO THE SENSOR IS ONLY BEING TRIPPED FROM GROUND IN FRONT OF THE SENSOR). I HAVE BEEN ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED THREE TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS AND ALMOST HIT FROM THE SIDE WHEN THE THE SENSOR ENGAGED WHEN I WAS MORE THAN HALFWAY OUT INTO THE FIRST LANE TO MAKE MY TURN. I HAVE ENGAGED SEVERAL VW SERVICE TECHNICIANS ABOUT A PERMANENT FIX BUT THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AFTER HEARING OF SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS BUT THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX. IT IS THE DRIVER'S RESPONISBILITY TO MANUALLY TURN OFF THE FRONT ASSIST COLLISION SENSOR EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU INTEND TO DRIVE THE CAR.

THE FRONTAL BRAKING ASSIST. IT LOCKS UP EVEN WHEN IT IS TURNED OFF. IT WILL JUST BRAKE VERY SUDDENLY., CAUSING THE CAR TO LOCK UP. THERE DOESNT EVEN HAVE TO BE A REASON FOR IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE YEAR I HAVE HAD THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN MOTION, AND CITY STREET.

Hi, My 2019 VW Tiguan, has the warning sign that ‘Only exit vehicle in P position.Please service vehicle’ But I found out it has recall for other vw cars for same issue but not tiguan. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 19V615 VW ACTION CODE 37M2, 37L5 At dealer, they will charge for diagnosing for $280 because it has not recalled. It should be recalled. Thank you.

SPORT SHIFT. THIS IS AN UNDERPOWERED AND SOMETIMES CONFUSED VEHICLE. MOST OWNERS SAY TO DRIVE IN "SPORT" MODE TO HELP IT NOT HESITATE AS MUCH WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP (CAN HAVE LONG HESITATION FOR NO APPARENT REASON) AND WHEN PASSING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PER MANUAL "SPORT MODE WILL NOT ALLOW TRANSMISSION TO GO INTO HIGHEST GEAR" WHICH IS 8TH GEAR. HOWEVER ONCE IN SPORT MODE, AND CRUISING WITH STEADY SPEED AND RPM, IF YOU PLACE SELECTOR TO MANUAL MODE THE SHIFT INDICTOR IMMEDIATELY DISPLAYS 8 WITH NO CHANGE IN ENGINE TONE OR RPM. THIS INDICATES TO ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS ALREADY IN 8TH GEAR AGAINST DESIGN AND OPERATION MANUAL DESCRIPTION. I BELIEVE THIS IS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR FOR THE SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION RESPONSE DURING NORMAL OPERATION WHICH DOES NOT SEEM VERY DIFFERENT FROM SPORT MODE AND WILL CAUSE PREMATURE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SOME OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. DEALER SAYS THERE ARE NO CODES SO THIS IS NORMAL.

Was driving on the freeway in my 2019 VW Tiguan when I experienced a sudden unexpected loss of power. Warning lights came on and the car went into a "limp mode" not allowing the engine to rev past a certain RPM. I took the car to be serviced at a local dealership where it was determined that the Fuel Injector Harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. When I informed the dealer that there was an extended warranty on the harness (2018-2019 model years within 10 years/120 miles) and the part should be covered, the dealer and later VW of America said that my vehicle was not part of the warranty. VW of America could not explain to my as why my car was not part of this warranty, but it is obviously a known problem on their end and they should honor what they advertised with their warranty extension with the NHTSA. [XXX] I find VW of America's response to this problem completely unacceptable and quite dangerous. Their unwillingness to take care of this critical component with a known failure rate unnecessarily costs consumers for repairs that VW should be honoring according to their own posted Warranty Extensions and could potentially cost bodily damage and lives. Gear shift from gears 1 to 2 or 2 to 1, the gears often “slip” resulting in a slight delay or jolt upon acceleration. This is an ongoing issue that occurs frequently, for years.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Driving my vehicle on two occasions the brakes just automatically engaged, an error warning with an exclamation mark flashed briefly then went away. The car did not come to a complete stop but engaged the brake for at least 2 seconds. I was driving approximately 30-40 mph. I took it to the dealership were they indicated that they get about two complaints a month on this issue. They stated they believe the car falsely recognized someone in front of me and engaged the brakes. The dealership was unable to recreate the issue and said they found no signs of the warning that came on the screen in the logs. I was able to provide the exact times that the issue occurred so Im concerned there was no log of it. If I was on the express way and the brakes engaged it would have caused a serious accident. The fact that there is no way to trace the issue is concerning to me, as well as the serious safety implications that cannot apparently be reproduced or an error that was not logging but still notifying me that it occurred. This issue occurred multiple times several months apart

I dont know what fail in the car.brakes system sensors i really dont know.but i was leaving the dentals office about to take main road when all the sudden my car just fully stopped all four weels where some how braked and the car turned off by itself i was stuck in the middle of the road and cars barely missed me. I honestly was in a very dangerous situation.i have a video of how the car braked by itself the engine turned off on its own..please help us check this immediatly in my opinion it is super dangerous..it has happened to me once but thays enough. There was no warning lights on the dash..thats all i can remember..thank yku

The emergency braking system caused a rear accident . Leaving at fault " unable to control vehicles ", listed by State Farm, resulting in a personal injury claim with no injuries for $475,000.00 all parties including Volkswagen will be sued . The vehicle has caused loss of employment and a lawsuit on top of that I'm still paying a $586.00 Car note and $686.00 car insurance just for me to drive now . I'm mad asf !!!!

My Tiguan is doing the same thing as the Atlas. I have been told by the Dealer and the Vw representative that did a physical inspection of my vehicle. That the issues are the same. I was doing 70 mph on the highway all the dash lights went on and then the breaks engage bring my vehicle to a complete stop. This was in March of 2021. Vehicle was taken straight to dealer I was told then what was happening. And was told the issed was resolved. Then in January 2022 the vehicle did the same thing once at a low speed, and again that same morning going 30 mph, were the truck behind us did everything he could to avoid hitting the vehicle as my vehicle came to a complete stop. I was the front car and thankfully the truck behind me was the only other vehicle on the road. I pulled in to a parking lot, I attempted to back up and the vehicle would not go in to reverse. I had to have my vehicle towed to the dealership where has sat since January. They have not been able to repair the unit. As they are waiting for a wire harness for the door. Vw corporate has been notified and is not been helpful at this point.

I am writing a complaint in reference to Safety Code Recall : 42J5 April 10, 2019. I bought my vehicle at Shearer VW in South Burlington VT on June 1, 2019. When I bought my vehicle I wasn't informed of any Recalls. I took my vehicle to Montpelier Volkswagen to get an oil change on Dec. 22, 2023 and was informed that I had a broken rear axle coil spring and bushings that needed to be replaced . I was given an estimate and appointment for Jan. 12, 2024. In talking with my local mechanic to try to get an earlier repair (both him and Montpelier VW tell me that my car is a safety hazard with these problems.) my local mechanic found this safety recall and advised me to see if my vehicle was ever checked for defects. My vehicle year, make and model are listed in this recall. I have talked to VW Customer Care and Shearer VW where I bought my car and neither can answer my questions. Shearer VW did not know such a recall ever existed. My questions are: Where was my vehicle when this recall came out? Was my car on the list for repair because of the problem stated in the recall 42J5? Was my car checked for this safety recall? If it was checked, did parts get replaced or not? I think this was a serious recall and for VW to have no knowledge of this recall really bothers me. How can I get questions answered? My coil spring has broken and it does make me wonder if it had anything to do with a defect in materials or problems in the spring production process? Maybe not but I want answers. I have owned many vehicles and never had coil springs and bushings go like this . I do have 82,00 miles on my car now but other vehicles lasted through 100,000 miles + without any problems with this. I have now spoken to numerous individuals who have had the same kind of issues with their VW's. VW is offering me nothing but a big bill for repairs. And I am driving a very UNSAFE vehicle. Can you please help me get answers ? I think all VW dealerships should know about recall

Daughter was driving at roughly 20 miles an hour when right front suspension collapsed causing her to lose control and striking a parked vehicle. Lower part of strut that connects to drive shaft was sheared in half causing complete loss of steering. The tire was pushed back against the the fender well which in my estimation caused tire to blow. Parts are available for inspection. A tire blow out at that speed should not cause strut to break and impact on parked car was minimal. Failed component has not been inspected by anyone. There was no warning of any issue. I did complain to dealer of slight suspension noise while turning but they could not find any issues.

VEHICLE SOUNDS AS IF IT IS BOTTOMING OUT WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN SURFACES OR SMALL DIPS AT ANY SPEED. NOISE IS MOSTLY IN THE FRONT WITH HEAVY CONCENTRATION ON THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE. PARTICULARLY AROUND 30-40 MILES PER HOUR. VEHICLE HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN IN (AFTER 3 DAYS OF OWNING IT 03/09/2019 FOR A REAR SHOCK REPLACEMENT ON THE DRIVERS REAR). AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR 6 MONTHS THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN WORSE. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN 08/17/2019 AND NO ISSUES WERE FOUND. I TOOK THE TECH ON A LONG TEST DRIVE ON THE ROADS (PARKWAY) I TRAVEL DAILY MAX SPEED IS 45. I HAVE DRIVEN OTHER TIGUANS AND VOLKSWAGON MODELS ON THE SAME ROADS AND THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAPPEN. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY DOES NOT SHOW UNDER THE ANY CURRENT COIL RECALLS. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO PLEASE REVISIT THIS VIN TO SEE IF THIS VEHICLE COULD ALSO BE PART OF THE RECALL.

THERE IS A LOUD THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THIS ONLY HAPPENS ON DOWNWARDS ROAD BUMPS (DOES NOT HAPPEN ON SPEED BUMPS). HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION. THE FASTER THE VEHICLE IS, THE LOUDER THE NOISE BECOMES. DEALER IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS 11K MILES AT THE MOMENT, AND ISSUES IS THERE SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. DEALER SUGGESTED WE WAIT UNTIL PROBLEM GETS WORSE SO THEY CAN IDENTIFY IT EASIER. DOCUMENTED IN THE PAPERWORK THAT A COMPLAINT WAS ENTERED, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO "REPLICATE". THIS IS A SECOND COMPLAINT ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE. THE LOW BEAMS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY SAFELY. I COMPLAINED TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO REFERRED ME TO THE DEALER. WHO STATED THAT THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT THAT CAN BE MADE. PER THE DEALERS DESCRIPTION THE VEHICLE ONLY UTILIZES ONE BULB FOR HIGH AND LOW BEAMS. THERE IS A SHIELD THAT COMES DOWN TO CREATE THE LOW BEAMS. WITH THAT BEING SAID, IN THE LOW BEAM POSITION THE SHIELD CREATES DISTINCT LINE THAT ONLY ILLUMINATES A SHORT DISTANCE OF ROAD IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE LED AND THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AFS. ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM. I BELIEVE THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY ADEQUATELY. THERE IS AN AREA THAT IS JUST IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE THAT ONE CAN SEE THE ROADWAY. THEN THERE IS A DEFINITE LINE THAT BASICALLY CREATES A WALL OF DARKNESS, THAT PREVENTS ONE FROM SEEING ANYTHING BEYOND THAT, THIS CREATES A BLIND AREA. ANY OTHER VEHICLES THAT I HAVE DRIVEN OVER THE YEARS PROVIDE LIGHTING THAT ILLUMINATES THE AREA IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN DEFUSES THE LIGHT FURTHER TO SEE DOWN THE ROADWAY, AND DOES NOT CREATE A WALL OF DARKNESS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP TO VW AND THE DEALER WHO STATES THAT THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING CORRECTLY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SYSTEM ONLY UTILIZES ONE BULB FOR BOTH LOW BEAMS AND HIGH BEAMS, WITH A SHIELD THAT COVERS A PORTION OF THE LIGHTING TO CREATE THE LOW BEAMS. BOTH HEADLIGHT HAVE EXTENSIVE CONDENSATION WITHIN THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. INCIDENT OCCURRED OVERNIGHT WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, IN A CLOSED PARKING LOT. CAR WAS DRIVEN FROM THE DEALER LOT TO THE CUSTOMER'S PARKING LOT A NIGHT BEFORE DURING RAINY WEATHER. THE CONDENSATION COVERS THE LED MODULES OF THE TURN SIGNAL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SAME HOUSING, AND DEPENDING ON THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AND HOW LONG THE CAR WAS OPERATING, THE CONDENSATION MOVES UPWARDS TO THE FRONT OF THE LOW BEAMS. The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 68 MPH, there was a booming sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stopped to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the rear glass sunroof panel had shattered from the inside and shards of glass were ejected from the sunroof panel. The contact wrapped the roof with plastic to secure the damaged sections of the sunroof, to ensure no other glass shards fell from the vehicle while driving. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 44,000.

My vehicle will have a slow start when I start the car and also a delay when it is at a stoplight. I took it in for service twice and they told me it was because I had an after market battery. However - yesterday my car completely went dead at a stop light and I had to turn the engine off and in. It often lags or stops at a light. According to Reddit it seems it’s a crank start issue.

Automatic start/stop feature malfunctioned while vehicle was at a complete stop in a left hand turn lane at the front of an intersection. Caused major traffic jam because vehicle would not restart. No warning signals were given prior to failure, car engine simply turned completely off and dashboard message then read to "manually restart engine". Attempted to do so but it did not work. After that, I randomly started turning the car off and on, switching from park to drive in whatever order to try to get the engine to restart since manually restarting the "normal" way did not seem to work. While the car was not restarting, the yellow engine light did appear, I am not sure exactly when. No one's safety was at risk in this particular instance, however it could have been depending on when this problem occurs. It has happened twice prior to this incident but both times occurred in a parking lot, not in open traffic. Eventually, after about 5 minutes the car did restart and I was able to resume driving. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone for this particular issue and therefore not reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center.

I WAS BEGINNING TO MERGE SOUTH ON I75 BUT PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER BEFORE MY SPEED REACHED APPROX 50 MPH AND I WAS LESS THAN .2 MILES ON THE RAMP. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER WHEN I COULD SMELL AND SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE VENTS ON THE DASH. UPON EXITING THE CAR I SAW FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. WHILE I WAS GETTING MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR, A FEW MEN HAD STOPPED TO HELP WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, BUT THEY WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. THE FIRE CHIEF THOUGHT THAT THE CAUSE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OR SOME SOFT OF MANUFACTURING DEFECT. The windshield fluid washer disappeared aka consumed mystery without the operator usage. I had to fill in a gallon of the windshield washer every2-3 months, and I did not do any washing or anything to use the fluid. Last week, the check engine came in and told me to fill the washer fluid and it could not pump the washer fluid onto the windshield while I was driving the vehicle during the snow storm that blind me visibility on the road that could cause a very serious accident if that happened. This is a very serious safety issue that could kill someone. as of today, 12/27/2024 I just filled the windshield washer fluid and it consumed 3 gallons of the washer fluid. The question is where all the fluid went even that I did not use it?

Passenger seatbelt alarm indicates that the seat is occupied when there is only a phone sitting in the seat. This continues until the phone is removed, I have done some testing and this is due to the USB port in the cubby hole for the audio system. If there is a cable plugged into the USB port the light comes on indicating to fasten the passenger seatbelt with a bag of chips in the seat. If I unplug the USB cable the alert goes off. This is very distracting when using the cable for navigation maps creating a false alarm.

The seatbelt had some imperfection either in production of the seatbelt from Volkswagen's supplier or the buckle (original VW buckle) has rough spots that have caused the edge of the seatbelt to fray and appears to be getting worse and in my opinion compromises the integrity of the seatbelt and therefore safety. VW refuses to cover the parts repair under their bumper to bumper warranty.

The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the audible passenger’s side seat belt alarm would randomly activate and the seat belt warning light would illuminate even though there was no front seat passenger seated in the vehicle. The seat belt was then connected in order to deactivate the alarm. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 46,000.

I had a tire blowout on the highway and caused my airbags to go off without having impact on my vehicle. The airbags going off was extremely dangerous and could of caused serious harm to me or someone else by possibly crashing into another vehicle. I luckily managed to keep my car in control with minimal damage to the body. The dealer inspected and other than replacing tire and alignments is the 10,000 charge for airbags and seatbelt fixing. There were no warnings by the vehicle before incident.

I was involved in a collision where I hit another vehicle with the front passenger side. The air bags did not deploy on mine, and the seat belt did not lock into place causing me to hit the steering wheel. The police verified this upon inspection immediately after the accident happened. I have spoken with Volkswagen many times about the transmission lagging and requiring excessive acceleration. Because of the lag I have almost been hit many times, as well as almost hit others due to the increase in speed after the lag.

My car has delayed acceleration issues of between 3 - 6 seconds. The last one that was 6 seconds ore more was on June 29. In addition it's happened several times. I took the vehicle in for its last service and was told the issue was my battery. Battery was replaced and issue not resolved. The service before that I was told it was a carbon build up. Continues to happen sporadically.

On three (3) separate occasions, my 2019 VW Tiguan has produced an error stating "Check Starter System" on the console and shut down electrical systems such as instrument panel, brake lights, headlights, taillights, back up camera, and other electrical systems while driving. All three (3) situations followed the same series of events whereas the car was out in the sunlight on warmer days (70+ degrees) and occurred within 5 or so minutes of starting. After shutting the vehicle off and attempting to restart, the ignition will not always work and the car will not turn over. When it does, the key will need to be turned farther than a normal ignition start and most likely produce an immediate error and electrical system shut down. In the most recent occurrence, I found a parking garage and left the car for around an hour and did not experience the issue for the rest of the trip. It appears that there was a recall for a similar issues with the Jetta models made in the same year (2019). Volkswagen Recall: 28H7-Ignition Switch / NHTSA campaign number: 23V604

While driving at night the cars IP displayed a warning "ignition system shutdown please check your start system", the Instrument panel and information display then went dark with no symbiology speed, revs or turn signals. The head lights and tail lights shut off and cabin fan and side windows stopped working. The engine continued to run so I was able to safely exit the highway but was a stressful and dangerous moment. When the vehicle was taken for repair VW service says issue was caused by a malfunctioning battery which was replaced at my cost with an OEM part. this has not fixed the issue though and I am attempting to get a new appointment for service.

A month ago I started my vehicle and 1/2 a mile into driving, all my electronics turned off with no warning(radio, instrument cluster, A/C, gauges, turn signals, headlights). The only electrical component working was the power windows. I couldn't see my speed, any warning lights or my turn signals. I immediately pulled over as I couldn't even tell if my car was still drivable. I Turned off the car (just the engine at this point) and tried to start it again with no response when I turned the key. When it finally turned back on, all the electronics turned on and immediately turned off again. The display on the instrument cluster briefly said "check starter system". Since then it will happen any time it is hot out. Heat is definitely what is triggering the symptoms. This same issue has been seen in the VW 2019 Jetta. This is a huge safety issue.

While driving an alert comes on that states check engine system. As soon as this happens all power in the car turns off. Engine is still running but you no longer have any turning signals, brake lights, headlights, air conditioning, etc. It happens randomly and has almost cause me to be rear ended due to car behind me not knowing I was slowing down or stopping. This happens when I am not close to a dealership so they have not been able to witness this.

I have a 2019 VW Tiguan with 2.0 liter turbo 4 cylinder and auto trans. I am experiencing frequent delayed acceleration from standing start in duration of 2 - 6 seconds. This BW is equipped with Drive By Wire technology which means an electrical wire with a solenoid at each ends sends a signal to motor to rev up. If that signal is not perfect the car suffers from a delay in acceleration from stopped position. I have reported this twice to NHTSA since Aug 2019 when car was newly purchased. Within first week I experienced a “delayed acceleration” from stop and under 1800-2000 rpm’s and under 25mph so this is NOT turbo lag as service manager first suggested. This always occurs from a dead stop pulling into traffic whether left, right or straight away driving. The delay occurs about half the time 5 out of 10. Fortunately for me the six second delay event occurred in church parking lot. During these episodes the engine remains at idle with the accel pedal fully depressed to floor, and at end of the event motor races and car takes off. To repeat there is NOT a mechanical linkage for accel pedal to motor, with “Drive By Wire” technology. There are literally thousand of reports online about these failures and a cottage industry has sprung up to decrease these “delays” (Roar Pedal etc) but they are ineffective. I believe this “drive by wire technology “ is a means that an auto mfg attempts to meet EPA city CAFE fuel requirements. I have requested VE replace one or both solenoids but they refuse until they can replicate the issue and BE corporate isn’t listening and a new 2023 Tiguan I test drive for comparison suffered same issue but less frequent in short 30 minute drive. It is up to you to investigate and require auto manufacturers to correct this major problem in public confidence in auto mfgs and regulatory organizations tasked with protecting the public.

When I turned the car on to leave work, the Check Engine and EPC lights came on, the car went into "Limp Home" mode and a warning came on the dash saying "Max Speed 4000 RPMs". Immediately, I could smell fuel, so I turned the vehicle off and exited. I noticed the ground under the car was wet. My husband came to check it out and the same thing happened. We saw that fuel was flooding out from underneath the engine. As he drove the vehicle to an adjacent lot to be able to be towed, fuel spewed out from underneath the engine. We had the vehicle towed to a VW Dealership in Grand Rapids who was able to diagnose a broken fuel rail bolt inside the intake manifold after they had the same experience with a massive fuel leak. Per the service advisor, this was not the first time they've seen something like this. Given the extreme flow of fuel from the engine, I'd say I'm very lucky that this didn't happen while driving through town or at speed on the highway where a vehicle fire would be possible with fuel pouring out of the manifold onto the hot engine.

I BOUGHT THE TIGUAN BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP WITH HIGH HOPES FOR OUR FAMILY SUV. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION A FEW TIMES, BUT COULDN'T BELIEVE I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM SO SOON AFTER BUYING THE CAR. WHEN I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING CAR ISSUE AND NOT USER ERROR, WE HAD ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS AND THE CAR HAD ROUGHLY 1200 MILES. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING WHEN I WAS TURNING LEFT DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WITH MY 12 MONTH OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR. LUCKILY THE DRIVER COMING TOWARDS ME ON THE MAIN ROAD SLOWED DOWN WITH ENOUGH TIME FOR ME TO MAKE MY LEFT TURN AND COAST RIGHT INTO A NEARBY SUBDIVISION. I PRESSED MY FOOT ONTO THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AND IT TOOK ABOUT 20 SECONDS FOR IT TO KICK INTO SPEED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I ASSUMED IT WOULD BE FIXED. AFTER 9 DAYS IN THE SHOP, THEY CLAIM THEY DROVE THE VEHICLE 80 MILES AND COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEREFORE, THEY WANT ME TO PUT MY FAMILY BACK INTO THE CAR THAT IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS THE "TURBO LAG" THAT I AM EXPERIENCING WHICH, IN THE LONG RUN, A MANAGER ADMITTED TO MY FIANCE AND I IS UNTRUE ISN'T EVEN WHAT WE ARE EXPRESSING AS THE PROBLEM. AFTER TALKING TO 3 MANAGERS, WE FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WHO IS HEAD OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO SYMPATHIZED WITH OUR ISSUE AND IS LETTING US USE A LOANER UNTIL VOLKSWAGEN CALLS US BACK, BUT THIS IS ONLY AFTER I SHOWED THEM ALL OF THE OTHER REVIEWS ON THIS WEBSITE THAT STATE OUR EXACT ISSUE. I put my groceries in the passenger side of my car and walked around to my driver's door. I touched the button on the door handle to unlock the door and it didn't work. I tried the key fob and it also did not work. I tried another key fob and it still did not work. I had to end up calling the dealership and they told me how to take off the door handle cover to use the manual key, which was difficult to pry off, and also scratched the car. This seems like it could be a safety issue. This could have easily been a mother putting her child in a car seat and walking around to get in the vehicle.

SUNROOF LEAKED WHILE CLOSED FILLING THE CAR WITH GALLONS OF WATER, CREATING WATER DAMAGE AND RISK OF ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY. THERE IS AN EXISTING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE OWNERS WERE NOT MADE AWARE, AND THE SOONEST DEALERSHIP APPOINTMENT TO REMEDY THE ISSUE WAS 1 WEEK FROM THE CALL, WITH NO SENSE OF URGENCY. The contact stated that the right hydraulic arm of the hatchback was corroded and upon closing the trunk manually, the right hydraulic arm detached and hit her on the right side of the head and shoulder. A bystander approached the contact to check on her. The contact then sought medical assistance. The contact was informed that she had sustained a severe concussion. The contact continued to undergo pain and physical therapy. The contact was later diagnosed with oxepedo myalgia and tumor on the right shoulder. Additionally, the contact was informed that she needed a surgical procedure for shoulder replacements. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that there was no proof of the incident. The contact stated that the failure occurred 14 days after the dealer had sold her the vehicle brand new. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE IT WAS A CONVENIENCE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK BUT NOT NECESSARY. WITH OUR OTHER VEHICLES ONCE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, WE WILL PRESS THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCK BUTTON TO LOCK THE LOCK, CLOSE DOOR AND DOORS LOCKS. I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing safety concern regarding my 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan, with VIN [XXX] . Despite reaching out to Volkswagen of America on August 18th, 2025, and visiting my local dealership multiple times, the issue remains unresolved. The problem is with the gas pedal, which fails to accelerate properly when starting from a standstill, such as when reversing or driving from a traffic light or stop sign. This issue also occurs when attempting to merge onto a highway or freeway. The dealership has been unable to identify the cause, and the problem is becoming more frequent. I am extremely concerned for the safety of my family and other road users. I have attached a video recording of the issue, taken by my daughter on [XXX]. I urge Volkswagen to take immediate responsibility for providing a safe and reliable vehicle. I request that they provide a loaner car while my vehicle is under inspection. However, when I requested a loaner car from the dealership, they informed me that none were available and suggested that I rent a car instead. When trying to accelerate from a full stop the car is not accelerating when pressing the gas pedal. It happened at a stop light, I pressed the gas, the car went nowhere, pressed the gas harder until gas pedal was floored and then the car accelerates forward very quickly. Also happened when i was making a left turn crossing 2 lanes of traffic. Stepped off the gas to make a left turn, car begins to roll forward but when i press the gas nothing happens, I am now in both lanes of traffic flooring my gas pedal, nothing happens for about 5 seconds and the car lurches forward quickly. There are no lights illuminated on the dashboard. Brought car to VW delearship, they say they went over the entire car and found nothing wrong. When investigating online it seems others are also having the same issue and getting the same response from VW.

Additionally, the engine oil and TPMS warning lights remained illuminated after the vehicle had an oil change and the tires were properly inflated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased, but the dealer provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V815000 (Tires). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Me and my family were driving to Los Angeles on a freeway. All of a sudden the car showed a warning saying something like "Limited to 4,000 RPM", and we felt strong vibration under the hood. We decided to pull over at a first available gas station. While turning into the gas station, the car refused to go and refused to start, making a loud clicking sounds. We had to tow the car to the nearest VW dealership (Galpin VW). Later they informed us that they have to replace fuel injectors and harness and it will cost us approximately $2,600. After paying the amount, I found that VW issued a recall/bulletin for this very problem - VWP-23-03 for my model year (VW Tiguan 2019). I contacted VW but they refused to honor the warranty claiming that the warranty does not apply to my VIN. It seem obvious to me that this is the same exact problem as described in the bulletin VWP-23-03. I feel like VW has made a mistake by not applying this bulletin to my VIN number (and probably others) and is endangering motorists that would otherwise get this serious issue fixed during regular maintenance.

I was driving on a hot day and all of the instrument panel, air conditioning, all controllers, like signaling, windshield wipers, radio and all electronic gear turned off. Without the equipment and tools available, I could not change lanes or come to a stop safely. It would be difficult for me to say if other systems were affected. I was luckily not going very fast at the time and was able to navigate to the shoulder and stop my car without incident but it was a very stressful situation that I had never experienced in a vehicle before that time. Yes, my vehicle is available for inspection. This happened for the first time today so I have not tried to reproduce the issue. However, many others have complained about it on forums. It’s happened twice in extreme heat; the first time I was driving not even 3 minutes after starting the car. All of a sudden there was a screen on the dash that popped up and said “ignition off, please stop the car safely”. The car was still able to drive but nothing else was working- gas gauge, speedometer, a/c, radio, etc. The second time happened when I had just started the car. Let it run for about 2-5 minutes and then the dash said “check starter system”. Is still fully capable of reversing, driving but just nothing else electrical working.

Our car has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. The problem first appeared in April 2023 without any warning. In September 2022, we began to hear clunking sounds from the front left, especially when turning. We took the vehicle to the VW dealer and were told that there is a known issue with the steering and they will order the part. At this point, the vehicle was still under warranty. For several months, we continued to ask the dealer for an update on the part and were told that it was back-ordered but to continue driving the vehicle, as it was safe to do so. We continued to drive the vehicle as our daily driver. We also informed the VW dealer that the clunking was becoming louder and more prevalent. They continued to tell us the vehicle was safe and the part was back-ordered, with no estimate of when it would be back in stock. We asked about the part every time the vehicle was at the dealer, and called periodically to check in, almost every month until August 2023. At no point did VW reach out to us. Fast forward to September 2023. We took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a routine oil change, and asked that they evaluate the steering. This mechanic told us to stop driving the vehicle immediately as the vehicle could lose steering at any time. I immediately called the dealer and was told again that the vehicle was safe to drive. When I informed the dealer that I had in writing to stop driving the vehicle immediately, they offered us a loaner. The dealer stated there is still no estimated time of delivery for the needed part, and also stated that 800+ vehicles are waiting on the same part. I assume not all these vehicles have been parked & that most remain on the road, unaware that they may lose their steering.

Vehicle was purchased from Volkswagen Marin Dealership As Certified Pre-owned 2019 model year Tiguan SE 4motion Turbo Color Red on August 24, 2021 and has 18,664 mileage already upon delivery. We have received a recall letter for the water pump & made an appointment to the Dealership& brought the car there In VW Sunnyvale, Ca.. According to the service advisor (Tanya) that the recall we are acquiring is not in their database, but oil change service performed on 27,450 mileage (estimated) during that scheduled appointment for water pump service recall letter received. My wife paid for oil change service charges and fees total amount paid in cash for $450.00 - Now there are issues coming out while driving (1) frequently low tire pressure Front R-side (2) airbag icon shows (3) steering wheel steers to the right while driving; (4) the Volkswagen net-software was not activated nor provided.(5) the 4 alloy wheels has like a mirror scratch all over the design of the wheels This are the issues came out in the vehicle that we've purchased and owned possession... Was waiting at an intersection and began to pull out into traffic. The vehicle's wheels drop momentarily into the gutter section of the street (also causing the vehicle body to rock forward/down), but then the parking sensors "detect" the street itself as an object and slam on the brakes. This locks the vehicle's brakes while it is half in the oncoming traffic's lane and is difficult to recover and continue driving. This happens several times a year after owning the vehicle for 3 years and is bound to cause an accident. In the most recent case, there was plenty of space before the next vehicle, but this won't always be true. The vehicle has not been inspected for this specific problem. It appears that the sensors are working "properly" in that they detect and alert of objects reasonably. The issue is with the logic built into the vehicle's computers when deciding when to apply/hold the brakes. The vehicle should be smart enough to recognize when body roll or other factors are causing a false positive and not be so quick override the driver's intentions. There is no warning when the system will misbehave and cause the vehicle to stop abruptly. The same intersection can be traversed hundreds of times and then suddenly it will beep and immediately lock the brakes.

Error code: "Driver door contact switch". When this comes on randomly I can't unlock or lock my doors. I have had to climb out of my car through the passenger side door after parking because the driver's side won't unlock. Fault: "Auto parking break" When this comes on I can't turn on or off the parking brake. Sometimes when I'm driving and there is a bump or a change in surface level the parking break comes on. My car stops all of a sudden and cars behind me swerve not to hit me. I have noticed that the issues can go as fast as they come on. They only really happen in cold weather. Last year (2022) was the first year that things happened. I took my car in to see what Volkswagen could do. They said that because the error codes weren't running then they couldn't diagnose the issue. They also said that they have never heard of this before. However, when the error codes are on it's unsafe to drive the car. I have read that other Volkswagens have this issue. From a stop at an intersection, the initial depressing of the accelerator produced no throttle response and then suddenly the car lurched forward. This resulted in rear ending the care in front at the intersection. The collision avoidance did not stop the car before contacting the car in front. Even after the accident the car continued to respond in the same way until it was placed on the two truck.

Dealer will not diagnose problem and now that car is out of warranty they wont do anything unless paid for. Car has rough idle and miscellaneous oil leaks occasionally almost stalling. Independent shop ran a diagnostic and shows one cylinder misfiring and want to inspect pcv as most the time these fail on VW

While attempting to accelerate on major highways (55-75 mph), suddenly orange "EPC" light along with orange triangle with ! appears on dashboard. Vehicle immediately begins losing speed, unable to keep up with traffic speed - capped at around 39 mph. Notification on touchscreen display, select "Vehicle Status", "1 message" next to the another identical orange triangle with !. Touched the messages to find orange ! and meter symbol, left of "Engine speed maximum 3000 rpm." Immediately drive to dealership, when I turned off the engine and parked the car to talk to a service center representative, it wiped the error from the vehicle completely. No EPC light, no message, and no data storage for the error that occurred. The dealership told me they were unable to re-create the issue, and sent me on my way. A few months later, the same issue had repeated 3-4 times, I took it to the same dealership, still unable to recreate issue. Now 2 full years have passed, warranty is expired, I bring it in having had the issue dozens of times (and documented with timestamped images), and the same dealership is claiming that the issue is the engine harness. This is extremely unsafe for other drivers, passengers, myself and my passengers. I have been fortunate enough to not have had any vehicles too close behind me when this failure occurs.

MY CAR HAS HAD A WATER LEAK FROM THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF. I SAW THE WATER COMING IN FROM THE BACK PASSENGER SEATBELT HOLES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO GET FIXED, I WAS NEVER TOLDWHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND HAD TO ASK FOR OFFICIAL PAPERWORK. APPARENTLY THE SUNROOF DRAIN LINES WERE "KINKED AND CLOGGED." MY CAR WAS IN SERVICE 7/28/20-7/30/20 FOR THAT ISSUE. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT MOLD GROWTH ON THE REAR FLOORBOARDS AND SMELLED OF MILDEW. I NOTICED SEVERE CONDENSATION ON ALL INTERIOR WINDOWS 8/4/20 AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET MY CAR LOOKED AT 8/6/20. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR RIGHT AWAY SINCE I COULD NOT SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS. I HAD TO PHYSICALLY DRY THEM WITH A TOWEL. I WAS THEN TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND A LEAK, BUT THERE WAS STILL WATER ENTERING THE CAR AND THE FLOORBOARDS WERE WET. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE. IT HAPPENED ONCE AFTER THAT WHILE PARKING THE CAR. #2 WITH ONLY 8000 MILES ON THE BRAKES PULSE WHEN APPLIED. WE WERE TOLD JUST WAIT FOR 1 YEAR SERVICE AND IT WILL BE LOOKED AT. THE TIGUAN WENT IN FRIDAY MORNING AND WE WERE INFORMED THE BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPED. VW NORTH AMERICA RECOMMEND ROTORS AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I LEASED MY 2019 TIGUAN IN MARCH 2019. SHORTLY AFTER (~1,500 MILES), I EXPERIENCE MY 1ST ACCELERATION FAILURE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC (WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT), MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ALTHOUGH MY FOOT WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. AFTER MULTIPLE SECONDS AND MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE FORWARD, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON, PUT IN DRIVE, AND WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THANKFULLY THE VEHICLES COMING TOWARDS ME WERE PAYING ATTENTION AND HALTED, OR IT WOULD'VE RESULTED IN A COLLISION. THIS FAILURE HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES SHORTLY AFTER, 1 OF THE THEM OCCURRING WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING. WHILE GETTING MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, 1 OF THE VW EMPLOYEES MENTIONED THEY RECEIVE CALLS REGARDING THIS SAME FAILURE EVERY WEEK, SOMETIMES EVERY DAY. A 2ND VW EMPLOYEE MENTIONED THEY HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A CALL ON THIS FAILURE FOR MY VEHICLE. ????. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A 26M1 SOFTWARE UPGRADE THAT 'SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.' CONCERNED FOR NOT ONLY THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, BUT THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVERS AROUND ME, I FILED A CLAIM WITH VW CORPORATE AND ASKED TO BE REMOVED FROM MY LEASE DUE TO THE FAILURES ALMOST RESULTING IN MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENTS. THEY REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO GET OUT OF THE LEASE AS MY EXPERIENCED FAILURES 'DO NOT WARRANT THE ABILITY TO BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE.' SHORTLY AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I'VE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE 3 MORE TIMES (1 OF THEM WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE). NEW CAR, 2 MONTHS OLD, 3,000 MILES. ISSUE HAS HAPPENED 4X. FIRST ISTANCE, TURNING LEFT ONTO A MAJOR 3 LANE ROAD, CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER AND THEN CHUGS TO CATCH SPEED LEAVING YOU POWERLESS WITH THE FOOT PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. SECOND INSTANCE, EXITING A SHOPPING CENTER, LIGHT TURNED GREEN, STEPPED ON GAS PEDDLE AND CAR BOGGED AND SPUTTERED AS IF OUT OF GAS AND STALLED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. ONCE I GOT IT STARTED AGAIN IT MOVED FORWARD. AT NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT IT SPUTTERED AGAIN AND WOULD NOT GO EVEN AFTER PUMPING GAS PEDDLE. CREEPS TO A ROLLING RUN AND THEN GOES. THIRD INSTANCE WAS ENTERING AN ON-RAMP FROM A STOP LIGHT, CAR SPUTTERED AS IF OUT OF FUEL AGAIN AND BARELY MADE IT OUT OF INTERSECTION WHERE I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO GET THE CAR GOING. 4X SAME AS ABOVE. I'M NOW AT DEALER FOR SECOND TIME- NO REPAIR AND THEY SAY VW IS AWARE OF SOME CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE NO FIX AT THIS TIME. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON ATLANTA CITY STREETS. VEHICLE FREQUENTLY SHAKES/SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY UNDER LIGHT/NORMAL ACCELERATION IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD AND EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING SITUATION. I PURCHASED IT A FEW WEEKS AGO AND HAVE APPROXIMATELY 1300 MILES ON IT - THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY. UNDER LOAD, SHORTLY AFTER THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AND AS THE VEHICLE REACHES APPROXIMATELY 9-11 MPH AT 2000RPM, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AS IF THE ENGINE IS BEING LUGGED OR IS MISFIRING. THIS REALLY ONLY OCCURS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS HAD SUFFICIENT TIME TO WARM UP AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR SOME TIME IN RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC. IT IS MORE PRONOUNCED WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL TURNED ON. THE SHAKING/SHUDDERING HAS MADE ME EXTREMELY DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE ALREADY BECOME PHYSICALLY SICK TO MY STOMACH ONCE. I HAD TO CUT OFF 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO REACH THE SHOULDER SO I COULD AVOID GETTING SICK IN THE CAR - THIS WAS ON 7/8/2019, A WEEK AGO TODAY. SEVERAL PASSENGERS WILL NO LONGER RIDE IN THE CAR WITH ME. I HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SELLING DEALER TWICE OVER THIS ISSUE AND ALTHOUGH THEIR EFFORTS TO DIAGNOSE IT WERE MADE IN GOOD FAITH, THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPRODUCE IT. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS OF THIS ISSUE THAT I ATTEMPTED TO SHARE WITH THE DEALERSHIP UPON DROPPING IT OFF THE SECOND TIME, WHICH THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME HE DID NOT VIEW AFTER I PICKED THE CAR UP. I ALSO RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT MY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION/AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM (CAR-NET), IS COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL DUE TO A SOFTWARE BUG AND WILL NOT WORK AT ALL UNTIL VOLKSWAGEN COMES UP WITH AN UPDATE FOR IT (PER THE DEALER). I AM EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR THESE REASONS AND CONTINUE TO FEEL SICK TO MY STOMACH EVERY TIME I USE IT TO COMMUTE TO OR FROM MY JOB, WHICH IS JUST OVER 30 MILES FROM MY HOME.

MY BRAND NEW 2019 VW TIGUAN FWD NEXT DAY AFTER BUYING SHOWED MULTIPLE PROBLEMS THAT RELATED TO TRANSMISSION AND BREAKING AND A UNKNOWN SOURCE OF RATTLING SOUND. I NOTICED WHEN I COLD START THE TIGUAN AND LET IT IDLE FOR 3-4 MINUTES THE NORMAL ENGINE SOUND SLOWLY GOES DOWN BUT A LOUDER AND MORE NOTICEABLE RATTLING SOUND COMES UP. IT IS HEARD WHILE DRIVING ALSO. IT'S CONCERNING BUT WHAT IS MORE CONCERNING IS THE THAT THE TIGUAN HESITATES WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. I NOTICED IT HAPPENS WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. NOT ONLY IT HESITATES TO ACCELERATE YOU'D FEEL THE CARS STRUGGLE WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. EACH TIME THE GEAR IS SHIFTING YOU COULD FEEL THE CAR IS AT A CONFUSED STATE AND SO YOU FEEL IT THUMP. AT OTHER TIMES I'VE EXPERIENCED THE CAR ALMOST STALLS WHERE THE RPM GOES UP BUT TRANSMISSION SLIPS. IT DOESN'T CHANGE GEAR. THE WORST OF ALL IS THAT WHILE SLOWLY BREAKING THE CAR TRIED TO SPEED UP. THE RPM IS ALSO SEEN TO GO UP. THE VERY UNFORTUNATE NEWS IS THAT THOUGH THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN DROVE WITH ME AND SAW THE ISSUE THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX. VW CORPORATION ALSO ISN'T PROVIDING A FIX. THERE'S OTHER REPORTS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE TIGUAN HAS A KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM ACCORDING TO OTHER OWNER REPORTS. IT MAY NOT BE ALL TIGUAN BUT MY CAR IS A LEMON. THE PROBLEM PROBABLY HAS TO DO WITH WHICH LOCATION THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED. THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY CONCERN. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT SUCH ERRATIC ISSUES 2ND DAY. HOW DID VW GET PAST SAFETY BOARDS. THE FIRST DAY I DROVE MY NEW 2019 TIGUAN SEL HOME, I OPENED THE PASSENGER DRIVER-SIDE DOOR AND THE HANDLE GOT STUCK AND WOULD NOT GO BACK IN...MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 2-DAYS LATER TO GET THIS FIXED. DURING THE 2-DAY WAITING PERIOD, I WAS STOPPED IN A TURNING LANE ON A FOUR-LANE, LIGHTED ROAD TO MAKE A U-TURN. WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDDLE TO GO THE CAR JERKED FORWARD, AND WENT TO A STANDSTILL FOR ABOUT 5-SECONDS WHILE MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE. THIS CAUSED THE TWO ONCOMING VEHICLES TO HAVE TO SCREECH TO A STOP; AND THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE LANE HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ME AND SPIN OUT. WHEN THE TIGUAN STARTED MOVING FORWARD, I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE I WAS SHAKING. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY, BUT NO ONCOMING CARS WERE IN SIGHT. WENT IN FOR THE DOOR APPOINTMENT, I TOLD THE SERVICE REP ABOUT ENGINE AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER. AN ASSISTANT MANAGER CAME OUT, I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE ENGINE, AND HE RESPOND THAT'S A VW AND GAVE ME A HUG AND TWO FREE T-SHIRTS. NEW DOOR HANDLE HAD TO BE ORDERED DUE TO CORROSION, HAD TO COME BACK 3-DAYS LATER TO HAVE IT FIXED. DURING THOSE 3-DAYS, THE PASSENGER SEAT SEAT BELT WARNING SOUND STARTED RANDOMLY GOING OFF, ALONG WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING ABOVE THE HAZARD LIGHT WHEN MY HANDBAG WAS ON THE SEAT. REPORTED THAT AND THE ENGINE ISSUE AGAIN AT NEXT APPOINTMENT. HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS...AT PICK-UP WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS TESTED FINE, BUT VW DID NOT BOTHER TO TEST THE SEAT SENSOR. WAS INSTRUCTED TO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT, AS STATED IN THE CAR'S MANUAL. REQUESTED A NEW VEHICLE, OR LET ME OUT OF MY LEASE DUE TO FEELING TOTALLY UNSAFE...WAS DENIED BY BOTH CORPORATE AND DEALER. THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING UNEXPECTEDLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60MPH. ALL KINDS OF EMERGENCY LIGHTS CAME UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND THE CAR BLOCKED. THE GEAR WAS LOCKED AND WOULDN'T RESPOND TO RESTARTING THE CAR. THE CAR HAD TO THE TOWED, AND AFTER GETTING IT IN THE TRUCK I REALIZED THAT ONE SIDE OF THE HEADLIGHTS WEREN'T WORKING. THE CAR HAS ONLY 1700 MILES. A SIMILAR BUT LESS SEVERE EVENT HAPPEED THREES DAYS BEFORE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.
