PCV failure that requires replacement of Cylinder head.

I had routine oil change. I picked up my car and immediately the red warning light came on. I called garage. They said it was PVC valve for high pressure. I fixed that. This is next routine oil change. Now the accessory bracket seal and oil cooler seal need to be repaired. My car only has 68,340k on it. I see there are many complaints on line about this issue.

Burning oil. Check oil level light was on and blue smoke coming from exhaust. Around 30,000.The dealer finally replaced valve stems and other extensive repair. My check engine light came on so they replaced the oil separator. Then a week later now my check engine light is back on. I’m going on the morning back to dealership tomorrow.

My vehicle has a known manufacturing defect issue that has already been addressed in a Volkswagen Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) which results in an oil consumption issue with 2022 and 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan models. Vehicle problem was confirmed and repaired once by dealership however same oil consumption issue has happened again that was confirmed by dealership. Dealership presently is unable to repair because necessary replacement parts are unavailable at this time.

My overhead console has come lose. VW will not fix under extended warranty. It is a known issue and letters weren’t sent out about a fix for my year model but I did not get one.

- The sunroof control panel has gradually peeled away from the foam on the roof of the car and is now dangling. It’s distracting and unsafe while driving. This is clearly a defect and safety hazard as it’s fallen while I’m driving and hit me in the head. It’s blocking the rear view mirror from full visibility. - Aside from it hitting me in the head as it’s fallen from the roof, it’s blocking by the rear view mirror entirely and blocking partial view out the windshield. I have had to use one hand to hold it up in place while driving. Multiple different kinds of tape have failed to hold it up and it continues to fall. - There are multiple posts and discussions in the Tiguan owner community that this is a known issue and has happened to many Tiguans. - It was briefly observed by a dealership but I was there for a much larger issue and they said they’d have to replace the entire panel. We did not do a full inspection or price quote at that time. I did reach out to VW corporate with photos and a description of the issue and they refused to help. - There were no warnings as this was not electrical or mechanical. The panel just peeled away from the ceiling and came apart at the seams. According to some research, perhaps heat can cause this defect to happen.

My VW is leaking so much oil. I have been reading SO much about VW and lots of unhappy people in regards to the bills they have to pay to fix oil leaks, pct valves, upper and lower oil pans. One mechanic told me he'd never own a VW because of this leaking oil issue. Due to the extent of people affected, I was hoping there would be an extended warranty issued for people owning faulty 2018 - 2023 VW's. I was told this would be the next place to make a complaint. My car is only 3 years old! Of course I'm at 65k, just over the 50K warranty. Please consider urging VW to cover the costs associated with a well-known oil leak problem, PLEASE!

This incident occurred [XXX] at about [XXX]. My family and I were returning to Utah from an Arizona vacation. We were heading north on [XXX], in between Payson and Benjamin when the sunroof shattered. The sunroof was not open nor had it been open during the entirety of the vacation. My fiancé and I were both watching the road and did not see any debris nor rocks fly up and hit the sunroof. Our only explanation is that it exploded. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. I am thankful that no one was hurt inside the vehicle, but this could have potentially hurt my child who was in the backseat during this. If the fabric that blocks the sunroof had been pulled back, I am 100% positive that all passengers in the car would have been injured by the glass shards. I am going to call the dealership tomorrow when they are open and plan to call the non emergency phone number for the police to file an incident report, if they allow it. I had unlocked the doors with the botton on the door handle with my key in my purse. I was putting my kids in the car and put the key in the car. I closed all of the doors with the key in the car and it automatically locked with the car off in the summer heat. Luckily my oldest was able to unlock the car from the inside. My other child is 2 and wouldn’t have been able to do it.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, with the cellphone device was in the wireless charging station, the contact attempted to pick up the cell phone and the cell phone was hot to the touch. The contact stated that the vehicle was scheduled for a service appointment, the contact addressed the failure with the service mechanic. The contact stated that during the failure, the electrical system in the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

The car lags when you first start it. It starts fine but then lags about 8 MPH . It is like it isn’t getting enough gas until it gets past 22-25 MPH. It is concerning that it doesn’t pick up speed. This happens daily and every time the car starts.

When starting the car in the garage the automatic setting of the headlight switch activates the headlights to turn on. When out in the sunshine the dashboard brightness sometimes does not adjust to the daylight level when the headlights turn off, and the Daytime Running Lights activate, resulting in a very dim dash display.

2022 VOLKSWAGON TIGUAN- Consumer states "Approximately (6) months after purchase. I began having trouble with software module I took my vehicle back to the dealer for repairs on 11-29-2022 with one attempt but, to this date, the dealer has been unable to correct the problem. Attached is a copy of the repair order which document the dealership's attempt to repair my vehicle. This problem software module replacement (substantially impairs the use and value of my new vehicle) or creates a serious hazard.) Therefore, if you and/or your dealer are unable to correct this problem, I will expect you to REPLACE OR REPURCHASE) the vehicle pursuant to annotated. Please contact me on receipt of this letter to arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to have an opportunity to inspect my vehicle and make necessary repairs."

Due to a faulty PCV valve, the entire engine wiring harness needed to be replaced at 69,000 miles. The valve cover and camshafts were replaced, engine components were reassembled with mandatory bolts and gaskets. Lower timing cover was leaking on the passenger side due to the faulty PCV valve and the Caracole canister and leak detection pump. These were replaced along with the canister due to oil contamination. The EVAP lines were blown out and the N80 valve was replaced. As a result, the vehicle sustained $7,200 in repairs because of the damage to the engine due to the faulty PCV valve.

VW Tiguan lost significant acceleration while driving on the highway. Vehicle check engine light came on. Felt like vehicle was going to stall and decelerated to a below highway required speed. Vehicle was inspected by a VW authorized service center and . Verified GFF found DTC's P0431, P04F0, P24D6, and P2101 were in fault mode. Significant oil leak also occurred. Failed component was crankcase pressure regulator and lower oil pan and gasket (due to increased pressure from failed PCV valve.) This was of great concern as the deceleration was significant while on the highway which could cause potential life threatening accidents.

Oil leak from PVC malfunction Causing stalling, over heating and a huge amount of oil consumption of vehicle. This poses a safety hazards for consumers who commute more than 25 miles to work , drs appts in rural areas etc. I have purchased well over $300USD in the last month on oil alone, taking away from house hold budgets and maintenance of said vehicle. The operant e of making home to our Family's as consumer priority and this is A MAJOR RISK. The car has a severe hesitation when accelerating from the stop. This hesitation is dangerous in regard that when you try to accelerate from a stop sign into traffic, the car can sluggishly bog down exposing you to oncoming traffic. The issue is more severe after cold start, but can happen anytime. Has caused me to pull out in front of traffic many times only to bog down and nearly be in an accident.

Severe throttle lag. Has almost caused three accidents. When pulling into traffic there is a 1-2 second delay in acceleration after pressing the throttle. Seems to be worse in hot weather.

My Volkswagen Tiguan suddenly and without warning blew a large amount of smoke out of the exhaust along with oil while driving at highway speeds - causing the cars behind me to lose visibility and possibly be covered with oil further reducing their visibility due to the VW manufacturers faulty crankcase breather/pcv valve. After this happened the car dash lit up with warnings and went into "limp mode" where I was not able to exceed 2500 rpm which is very dangerous when on the highway - luckily for my safety at this point I was on a side road. When I checked the engine I found no oil was left in it, it had been sprayed all underneath and up the back, which reduced visibility in the window. I was responsible for towing it to the dealer and was given no loaner despite being under warranty. Leaving myself and children without a vehicle. The dealer confirmed that my VW Tiguan had a faulty crankcase breather which caused over pressurization and pushed up the valve seals and cracked the oil pan. They only replaced those things and not the fouled spark plugs or oil filter from the crankcase breather failure which can cause more engine damage and dirty emissions.

Crankshaft vent valve clogged and failed, causing overpressurization and oil leaks. Caused the oil pan to crack and upper timing cover to leak per the inspection at Volkswagen. I was driving, going 63mph when it said max engine speed 3000RPM and a light that said EPC started flashing along with the engine light. I turned off cruise control and began to go towards the shoulder and it shuddered and a large white plumb of smoke came out of it. It wouldn't speed up at all while I was getting over. I had it towed to my home. My husband noticed oil all over the bottom and back of my car. My dipstick had no oil on it at all. We towed it Tuesday morning to Volkswagen.

After a cold start, with the engine idling about 1100 rpm, the vehicle acceleration is spotty, lagging, hesitant, dangerous. There are no error codes that can be found and this condition is reported as normal. This condition is dangerous. If the engine is allowed to idle for 1-3 minutes until the rpm is reduced to 800-900 rpm, the vehicle accelerates as any other. The danger is that after starting the vehicle and driving, I have been in situations where, while leaving a parking lot or parking space, or my driveway, the vehicle hesitates while oncoming traffic is traveling normally and become irritated that they have to avoid a collision. Searching online, this appears to be a common issue with this family of vehicles. VW has an issue id or instance number 2072024/1 which suggests to check the ECM version and update as appropriate. Sadly, without either a diagnostic code in the computer(s) or a TSP associated with the VIN, I feel that I would waste my and a VW service dept's time.

The acceleration stalls and sometimes stops. Sometimes the Car has to be put in park and restarted. This stalling or lack of acceleration happens at stop signs, stop lights when I am accelerating and it does not want to go. Which when turning into on coming traffic is very scary if I am not able to get up and go. I feel very unsafe operating the vehicle when this occurs. The acceleration stalling happens intermittently and not just when the car is from a cold start. The dealership said they are aware of this issue and are hoping for an update to fix the problem. Meanwhile I have to deal with the uncertainty and feeling unsafe.

After starting the car, upon first acceleration, the car hesitates badly and has the tendency to lunge forward. It feels like it may stall. When I say cold, I mean when the engine has cooled down. This does not have to do with outside temperature. It happens when it's warm outside as well and the engine has cooled down. This issue has been present since taking ownership in Dec 2022. This poses a serious injury risk to pedestrians as I can not anticipate my acceleration even with light pressure on the gas. In addition, it poses a risk to my car, myself, surrounding vehicles and motorists. Please look into this issue. I've done some research and found other VW Tiguan owners who are experiencing the same hesitation and were told by the dealer as well that they can't fix the problem.

An issue occurs intermittently when accelerating from a stop/at low speeds. When pressing the gas pedal, there is approximately a 3-4 second delay before the engine kicks in. Theres is no acceleration during those 3-4 seconds and suddenly, the engine will jolt you forward. This presents a safety issue when pulling out on to a street and this vehicle will not move forward. There have been 2 instances where I have almost gotten hit/involved with road rage due to this issue.

Ongoing issues with hesitation when accelerating from a stop. The car will feel like it has no power when pushing on the accelerator it may then jerk into gear and accelerate quickly or what feels like jerking in-between gears.

My VW hesitates when I step on the gas during first use. This condition will continue until the vehicle warms up. The hesitation will cause the vehicle to speed up very fast. It’s a safety risk when I enter traffic, either on a highway or on a local road. That’s because when I pullout in front of on coming traffic, the vehicle will not get up to speed in a timely matter and then it will speed up very quickly. It will hesitate and jerk back and forth. I’ve learn now that I can not pull out into traffic until I don’t see any oncoming traffic. The dealership is unable to repair because they are awaiting on a software update that VW is working on for the vehicle because I’m not the only one with the problem. No warning lamps or messages. It always happens when the vehicle is first started after sitting for several hours. It first appears a few months after I purchased the vehicle.

My 2022 VW Tiguan 2.0T has delayed acceleration, hesitation, and often bangs into gear at start up. This issue can easily cause an accident when merging into traffic due the lack of reliable acceleration. I have had the vehicle to the dealer and they have found no problem. However, when pressed about internet reports of such problems with the 8 speed transmission they do acknowledge they have heard similar reports. They note there are no repair solutions from VW.

The vehicle hesitates and then jerks forward when accelerating from a stop. This symptom is more apparent when the vehicle is cold before it has warmed up. The car is available for inspection if requested. It put my safety and the safety of others at risk because the acceleration is unpredictable. This danger is apparent when trying to slowly pull through a crowded parking lot and the car accelerates abruptly or when you’re pulling into traffic and the car hesitates in front of oncoming cars. The dealers service department has said they are unable to reproduce the symptoms or they say it is a normal trait for that car. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. There is no warning lamp or indicators of system failures for this issue. This issue first appeared approximately 500 miles into ownership.

Windshield cracked from the driver side A pillar towards rear view mirror. The crack was about 18” in length and happened while parked at work. Windshield was facing the sun in the afternoon. The crack did cause a safety concern and was breaking federal and state DOT laws.

The windshield on my 2022 Tiguan randomly cracked one day with no points of impact along the crackIt's about three and a half feet long it takes up about 85% of the windshield. It really affects my visibility as it makes the lines on the road appear in two different places on either side of the crack. After contacting insurance and getting an appointment to get the glass replaced I was told by several windshield repair shops including Safelite and the VW dealership that the part is on National back order indefinitely and they cannot provide a replacement part at this time. I feel as though I'm paying high payments for a vehicle I cannot drive and feel as if I have been robbed. Please help.

My 22 Volkswagen Tiguan could very well be apart of the class action lawsuit that is happening right now with oil consumption issues my vehicle only has 45,000 miles and is consuming 1 quart of oil every 1200 miles started noticing oil loss back in July

My vehicle has relatively low miles on it, it does not get driven very often. Once I had done the first oil change I had to pay for after the dealer covered maintenance warranty was over for the oil changes was when I started having the problems. Three separate times the low oil light came on the dash and I had to add oil to my engine, about a total of 3 quartz. I told the first dealer that I was having this issue and they didn’t believe what I was saying and didn’t want to check anything. I told them to do an oil consumption test but because I had having such a hard time with them I went to a different dealer to get it look at. Under dealer warranty, they conducted the oil consumption test and after 600 miles I was to bring it back. When they did a volume displacement test, they said there was metal shaving in my oil when they went to drain the oil and they had to change the engine and turbo. My car was around 45,200 miles when it was said to be replaced. Ever since they said they replaced it the engine is very noisy, they didn’t put enough oil in the engine and it doesn’t even look like they replaced the engine at all. None of the hoses has signs that they were removed or replaced, bolts and nuts not removed and the transmission bolts don’t look they have been removed from the engine or got a new seal. This engine is not reliable at all. Also the vehicle certification label that should be in my wheel well and in my owners manual is not there. I can not find it anywhere.

Excessive Oil Consumption: I purchased this Tiguan 2022 back on [XXX] in Florida and since I purchased it I have issues with this matter. I have reported my Tiguans consuming oil at a rate significantly higher than what's expected between oil changes and I was informed that is normal, yet I still did not get any resolution on this matter. ever since purchasing the car in 2021 I noticed it burns oil very quickly. Every time i would bring my car to my local body show before an oil change was do there was always no oil left. I finally brought the car back to VW and they told me it could be the shop was not using the right stuff which i knew was not true and they charged me for oil change and told me to come back if the problem continued. Sure enough 6 weeks later the oil light came on. I brought it back to VW and they told me the car has an engine oil consumption issue and they could keep the car from a week to 6 months

Oil light went on in May, 2023, at approximately 15K miles, then again in August 2023, at approximately 17,500 miles. Both times the oil was down 1 quart. We have been seeing smoke come out of the exhaust, intermittently. VW service department did a oil consumption test which resulted in the car burning just under a quart of oil after 600 miles. They said the car is functioning normally, but if it burned over a 1/2 quart of oil, they would do something, but not sure what they would do. They have not addressed the "smoke coming out of the exhaust" issue.

My vehicle has been consuming oil at a rate of approximately 1 quart every 1,500 miles. The VW dealership I took my vehicle into reported that VW considers this “normal”. After arguing that any vehicle that will burn its entire oil reservoir between oil changes is not normal, they agreed to perform an oil consumption test which is currently underway.

When letting off the gas and then step on the gas again the transmission “slips” as if it does but know what gear it should be in. I have mentioned this to the dealership since shortly after I bought the car. I have messaged VW directly about this issue. The dealership told me it cannot be fixed unless there is a “code”. A brand new car should not drive like this. How do I get this fixed before it fails and ceases the engine.

The transmission has frequent but not consistent issues in shifting, mainly after a cold start and within the first few minutes of driving. However, starting the engine and letting it warm up before driving has not completely resolved the issue. The issue is when trying to accelerate onto a main roadway, the power will drop off for a few seconds then engage again, and drop off for a few seconds, before stabilizing and providing consistent power. Since it is random when it happens, you are pulling into traffic and this happens, you are at risk of being hit by oncoming traffic since you cannot accelerate as you planned. It can also cause you to overcompensate and push on the gas harder, and when it engages you are accelerating harder and faster than you planned. I have contacted two Volkswagen dealers and they have told me that it is a learned transmission and resetting it may help (but this problem has been an issue since purchasing the vehicle), another told me to give it more time to warm up but if there are no warning lights on the dash they will not be able to fix anything or cover under warranty. It has not been inspected by the dealer because they say there is nothing to inspect without a warning light.

Vehicle hesitates badly after a cold start, sometime several times before it goes away. I'm afraid I'll get hit pulling into traffic if not able to accelerate. No warning lamp, checked for fault codes, none stored. have tried several types of fuel as well as adding VW fuel treatment to resolve the issue. nothing has worked so far. The issue happens every time I start the car cold.

Tiguan hesitates/bogs down while accelerating when cold - particularly while turning. Also noticed non-responsive acceleration with a warm engine while turning left across traffic several times. Unnerving behavior -- as it doesn't happen with any predictable frequency.

Purchased new; problems began early in ownership and have recurred despite multiple dealer visits. At ~75,995 miles in July 2025, the vehicle developed a significant engine oil leak. Multiple inspections have found the engine oil level low due to leaks from cracks, and the dealer also verified excessive crankcase pressure from a faulty PCV system that forced oil past sealing surfaces. Parts replaced included the PCV/separator, upper timing cover, a related pipe, and the oil filler funnel; DTCs were cleared and the vehicle was returned as “operating to specifications.” Despite these repairs, the vehicle has an ongoing pattern of engine problems, including warning lights and loss of power/limp mode while driving. This creates a safety risk due to sudden power reduction and the possibility of engine damage from oil starvation and continued leakage. I have repair records documenting the July 2025 diagnosis and parts replaced, prior visits showing repeat engine/drivability issues, and notes reflecting low oil observed on multiple inspections. Volkswagen denied assistance and directed me to BBB AUTO LINE; I am refiling with BBB and reporting this safety concern to NHTSA. No crash or fire; safety risk is loss of power and oil leakage while in operation.

The PVC valve failed on my two-year-old Volkswagen Tiguan at 60,000 miles. As a result, the upper timing gasket was blown, the oil pan went bad, along with several other issues relating to gaskets, seals and sensors, causing an oil leak. This problem was confirmed by my local Volkswagen dealership, and is costing me over $2,000 out-of-pocket. The check engine light was extremely inconsistent - coming on and then going off for days at a time. This is a safety concern. Unfortunately, through research, I have found that many other Tiguan owners are experiencing the same problems, but it does not seem Volkswagen is willing to issue a recall.

I have owned the vehicle since October 2022, currently ~4,400 miles. During second week of ownership, backup camera was blank upon startup and placing vehicle into reverse. A system reboot solved the issue, but several reboots have been required in subsequent months. Common that audio doesn't initiate (from any source) as well. Second issue - cold-engine acceleration is borderline dangerous as the vehicle can seem to bog down then lurch with sudden acceleration. After engine warms, this does not occur. Third issue - during straight-line driving, car sometimes changes gears for no apparent reason - sometimes not smoothly. Downshifting can skip gears far too often. Final issue - safety sensors (collision warning) have activated at least twice since owning (6 months) for no reason - looks like 'red space invader' in center of dash and loud chime comes on as well.

After a cold start the car stutters and jerks on start up. The engine rattles and It kangaroos on acceleration while the revs fluctuate between 1000 - 1500 rpm but the car drives as if it were in limp mode causing it not to accelerate. This is a huge safety issue when you are trying to pull out onto a main street which causes others to break to avoid an accident. I’ve taken it into three different Volkswagen dealerships a total of 8 times but due to the car not having a dashboard light on or an error code they immediately told me the car was fine and there’s nothing they can do being they can’t replicate the issue. The second issue is when I’m at a stop light or stop sign and upon releasing the brake pedal the car engine doesn’t kick back on and restart. It starts rolling backward and I’ve almost hit people. I get an error message on the dash telling me to manually restart the car. I have to put my foot on the brake put the car into park press the stop-start button to completely turn the car off and then re-press it to turn the engine back on all while sitting at a green light with a row of cars behind me honking. As of recently, the car doesn't have to be at a complete stop to suddenly shut off now it's happening while the car is moving and struggles to start back up.

I was informed from the Volkswagen dealership of where I purchased the vehicle that there are malfunctions with the Lane Assist system and other driver assistance functions caused by a fault in the steering wheel. However, I was also told that Volkswagen no longer manufactures or provides a replacement steering wheel for my vehicle. This leaves me without a viable solution to restore the safety systems that are integral to the vehicle’s operation.

Travel assist warning alarm rings all the time. It has been inspected and the VW dealership said that I need a new steering wheel. Vehicle is available to be inspected at any time. The alarm is completely distracting while driving and that alone is a hazard. Also, with the alarm ringing so sporadically, there's no way to tell if there is a true hazard or not. Inspected by dealership in December 2023, determined that the steering wheel needs to be replaced due to faulty travel assist alarm. I was told the steering wheel is on back order. I found out this week that there is no projected replacement date available! It has not been inspected by anyone other than dealership. The travel assist alarm has been ringing like crazy since November 2023. This car should be recalled. I am paying insurance and a car note for a car that is not safe. My daughter refuses to drive my car even though she's insured on it, because the alarm scares her when she's driving. Please do something.

My dealer is saying that the steering wheel needs to be replaced, but the parts are 200+ on back order with no update on when they will come in. This is a major design flaw with this vehicle.

The powertrain control units (engine and/or transmission) exhibit concerning behaviors when accelerating from a stop. The actual vehicle acceleration and propulsive torque does not match driver demanded torque for an extended period of time. The amount of delayed reaction is longer when the vehicle is ‘cold’ meaning that the vehicle has not been running prior to driving for an extended period of time. There is some amount of initial acceleration that allows the vehicle to move into the road but then the propulsive torque seems to go away completely for 3-4 seconds. The torque delivered after this delay is then exponential which is again not matching what the driver is asking for. The unintended torque can put the driver at risk of being in a lane without the ability to accelerate out of danger in time. For the situation of having too high of torque can put the driver in danger of hitting an object because the driver was not planning to accelerate so aggressively. These two behaviors can compound on each other as well. When the driver experiences the too low of drive torque condition, the driver could apply more throttle to correct but this will only make the too high of drive torque condition worse. These behaviors occur after every drive-off from standstill. There is a TSB to help improve this behavior. There are no active faults or warning lamps. Many other owners and dealerships confirmed this same behavior. The occurrence date was set to the date of this complaint but these behaviors have been occurring since date of purchase of vehicle.

The extreme acceleration delayed in responding. It has happened on a few occasions causing me to have to quickly brake the vehicle once it finally responds to avoid hitting any traffic in front of me, but one of the occasions was When I tried to make a left turn in an intersection, I pressed on the accelerator and the car moved forward very slightly then stopped and would not move forward, I attempted to get the car to move as cars were then headed straight towards me and I pressed all the way down on the accelerator, after a few seconds it finally responded and jumped forward just in time for the cars coming towards me not to hit my car. After this I immediately took it into the dealership, they confirmed this was a known issue with the Volkswagen Tiguans as well as some Atlas’ however this was an issue with the computer in the car and they had attempted to fix the issue with an update to the computer but had no success therefore they had no way to resolve the issue and we would just have to take the car back as is. This issue put my life, my kid and my unborn child at risk as it would not move, after the dealership confirmed they knew this was an issue with this particular type of vehicle and saying they had absolutely no fix for it so therefore they would do nothing for us is completely unacceptable and when we bought the car no one informed us of this issues so I am very concerned there are many more individuals facing the same safety risk driving this vehicle and I feel it too unsafe to drive until they have a resolution.

The acceleration of my vehicle has failed several times. The first major incident was when I was driving home across Main St and attempted to go on green as the stoplight changed. Initially, the car jerked and coasted a little bit but after several attempts to press the gas, it still did not go. Shortly after on 04/16/2023, I set up an appointment for my vehicle to be serviced on 05/01/2023 (this was the earliest appointment at the time). I also called Tom Bush Volkswagen in Jacksonville, FL to ensure I was scheduled for the right service and that this wasn't a user error. On 05/01/2023, I took my vehicle to be serviced and picked it up near closing. The technician I spoke to stated there were no issues found and the vehicle is "operating as it is designed to". I asked the technician what should I do in the future because I was sitting at a stop light and the vehicle did not move, even with my foot on the floor. He asked what kind of car I drove before and told me the computerized system in my car took a few minutes to communicate with the rest of my car for it to accelerate. He then proceeded to tell me that if it continues to happen to keep track and maybe get a video of the occurrence. I purchased this car new off the lot in August 2022 and started having this issue around 10000 miles. Yesterday this happened again in the parking lot, causing the car to jerk profusely. I'm afraid this issue will cause me to have an accident before there is a resolution. Both times of these occurrences happened when my minor child was in the vehicle. When this happens I have no control over the acceleration of the car and when it goes. I typically don't move the car for a while after this because I'm afraid it will happen on a busy road. I noticed the car displayed an icon for a while after the most recent incident. I will upload a picture.

This random, but highly dangerous issue has never been able to be replicated by dealers or myself, but it’s extremely dangerous when it occurs. Occasionally, the car’s speakers will emit a max voltage popping sound that repeats like the sound of a helicopter’s rotors. This sound occurs seemingly at random, and it can happen while the car is moving or not. It’s occurred 6 times since I purchased the car in December 2022. The debilitating sound only stops once the car has been off and all of its systems powered down for about 5 minutes, making it impossible to operate. After some review of forums about this make and model, this is seemingly something that has been reported and never addressed in a recall or anything. Without being able to replicate it, it’s seemingly unable to be addressed by dealers, and I don’t think their knowledge of the car’s audio electronics preclude any sort of troubleshooting. It seems to occur when CarPlay is connected, but it’s created one of the scariest driving experiences and gives me constant fear that it will happen at random and with my young child in the car (which it has before). This needs to be investigated. I have video of three different instances, but the upload feature will not allow for those file types. Would like to follow up, if possible. Thank you.

As I was placing my infant in his carseat on the rear passenger side, my husband hit the ignition button inside the car to start the A/C and shut the driver door. Since he was not in the driver's seat, the vehicle's engine did not turn on, however power to the radio and dash was on. I shut my son's door and tried to open the front passenger and driver doors - all were locked. My key fob would not unlock any of the doors or the trunk. The VW app would not unlock the doors because it said the ignition was running and it would not allow me to turn off the vehicle from the app. I also tried to remote start the car from my key fob and the app. Meanwhile, my 8 month old was in the car on a 95 degree day without air conditioning. We had to call 911 to pry the doors open. MY SON COULD HAVE DIED if a police officer and tow truck were not already at the same rest stop where we were parked.

When car is out in reverse the backup camera will sometimes not display on the media console. Instead the media console will shut down and restart while the car is in reverse. This is a safety issue as cameras help view the rear of the vehicle. There was no warning lights given before media display shut off. Car was 11months old when issue started. Appears to be worse when it’s cold outside.

While driving, the speakers suddenly started blaring a persistent noise at full volume. It nearly caused me to run the car off the road. I had to cover my ears while trying to find a place to safely pull the car off the road all while trying to plug my ears. Turning off the radio didn't stop the noise. Turning off the car and opening the door didn't stop the noise either. The noise finally stopped after the car had been sitting turned off for about a minute. My ears were ringing when I got out of the car. All in all, an extremely unsafe situation in the middle of the highway. Searching online later, I came across forum posts of other drivers with the same car experiencing the same issue.

I am reaching out regarding ongoing and escalating issues with my 2022 VW Tiguan R-Line Black. Over the past year, I have had to stop at Jiffy Lube multiple times because the oil level kept running low, and they repeatedly topped it off. I found this unusual, given how recently oil changes and services had been performed. This summer, the vehicle began experiencing episodes of stuttering and stalling, accompanied by smoke from the tailpipe. Over Labor Day weekend, after another stall, I brought the car into the VW dealership. They investigated but were unable to identify the cause. Unfortunately, the situation has now worsened. Today alone, the car stalled twice — both times in the middle of traffic. The “check oil level” warning light came on, followed shortly by the “check engine” light. There was also a significant amount of smoke coming from the tailpipe. This is not only a mechanical issue but also a serious safety concern. I have two children, and I am deeply concerned for their lives and safety when driving a vehicle that stalls unpredictably in traffic. This stalling issue has occurred three times so far, most recently on [XXX], while exiting [XXX] . Each time, the stall happens when I attempt to accelerate after coming to a complete stop in traffic, at a light, or at a stop sign. When it occurs, the vehicle will not move forward, and multiple rapid warning messages appear on the dashboard. The only way to recover is to shift into Park, power the car off, and then restart the engine. After restarting, the vehicle will usually operate normally, allowing me to continue driving. Vehicle has hesitation during cold acceleration. If vehicle is started, pulled to end of short driveway, then go to accelerate onto road, vehicle hesitates and stumbles at times, not wanting to move properly and safely enter roadway. Tried accelerator pedal position reset and no change. This is a common VW Tiguan issue. No fix for it and dealer does not want to acknowledge that it exists. Simply looking on this site and a quick internet search will confirm it exists and is a common issue. And very well could be a significant safety issue when pulling into traffic. In addition, our tiguan also burns an excessive amount of engine oil with no repairs wanting to be made by VW and now has a p2402 code causing engine light to come on all the time. Numerous troubles that are adding up fast and no help or support from VW and its dealers.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving 30-35 MPH, the Lane Keep Assist was oversensing and attempted to steer the vehicle into traffic. The vehicle failed to recognize the lane markings and continued to steer over the highway lanes. While driving, the brake assist was engaged when a shadow was detected. The contact turned the features off. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that a steering wheel replacement was needed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the GPS and digital dashboard crashed while driving at approximately 20 MPH and was reset independently. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the multimedia unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the GPS failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 16,500.

While driving down our sloped driveway with nothing in front of us, the automatic braking kicked in and brought our car to a very sudden halt without warning. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and got thrown forward, causing soreness and mild injury to his shoulders. The problem has not been examined by the dealership. We adjusted the sensitivity level of this system to low as a result.

The infotainment system does not turn on on most occasions even after trying to reset it by long pressing the power button. Sometimes it takes about 15 minutes or so for the infotainment system to turn on. There is no way one can see the rear of the car without the rear camera feed on the infotainment screen. This is a serious safety issue. This problem has persisted even after the over the air software update. Also, this issue seems to be a widespread issue with multiple people complaining about this on many online forums.

The component that failed is the "Infotainment" system that controls the reverse camera, the hands free phone and other controls such as tire pressure warnings, etc., within the vehicle. The 2022 vehicle had 4000 miles on it and was in our possession for three months. It puts the safety of others at risk because the vehicle is very difficult to see out of manually to reverse and the camera is necessary for this vehicle for safety. This problem has been reported to Volkswagen and a case has been opened. The dealer has been notified and we are awaiting the part replacement and it has been over a month since it was reported and it is still not repaired. The day prior to the infotainment system going black we downloaded an update and installed it in our vehicle.

The Infocenter system does not boot and prevents any rear camera or rear alerts to pop up while backing up. System can take 10 minutes to finally boot after starting car and in that time no stereo, backup camera or vehicle monitoring is available. System has been reprogrammed and display unit replaced with no change in symptoms. Dealership verified issues and has been identified on numerous 2022 Volkswagen Tiguans. Issue has been present since vehicle delivery with at least 3 trips to dealership to resolve issue.

There are times when is will alarm 10-15 times in less than a minute. It will also alarm when in park. The alarm is often distracting, irritating and create alarm fatigue. I am unable to have a 5 minute conversation on the phone without having to hang up during your the alarm constantly going off.

Steering wheel Travel Assist is disabled which includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. The warning lights flash on and off, sometimes multiple times a second, sounding a loud beeping each time. It is triggered at engine start and persists through all speeds. I have experienced it 0-70 mph. The flashing lights and associated rapid beeping indicating the failure is extremely distracting while driving. Warning lights and warning sounds are designed to alert the driver to a potential safety issue so ignoring the lights and sounds is dangerous in the event it is a different caution/warning. However, also not ignoring it is dangerous because of the frequency of the warnings which causes the driver to look away from the road. After speaking with the maintenance department at my VW dealership, they indicated that this is a widely known problem that is remedied only with the replacement of the steering wheel. There are several other sensors that are triggered by the same issue I was told by the maintenance department. They are uncertain at this time if it impacts the airbag system which is another potential safety concern. The steering wheel can only be ordered after inspection by the maintenance department and there is shortage and/or back order of the part to fix the problem.

Travel assist not available warning is showing multiple times when driving. I start the car, start driving and no issues. Then randomly the warning issues shows up along with an audible alert. It appears to be an issue with the steering wheel as several online posts indicate VW replaced the steering wheel to resolve the issue, only to have it show up again, several months later.

The vehicle continually displays an error stating "travel assist not available" and a loud tone sounds. This occurs up to 7 times in a row, or intermittently, as the vehicle is being driven. There is no detectable pattern for when this comes up - it happens when you first start the car, when you're driving in a parking lot, when you driving on the freeway, anywhere. The sound is so loud that it is startling each time it happens. It has become a safety issue to us because it is highly distracting and alarming. We have taken it to the dealership once for repair. They said they "reset" something, but it is continuing to happen and we cannot turn it off.

August 11,2023 went to dealer for oil change and Halodex fluid service at Napleton VW of Springfield, Missouri. Two hours later on drive from Springfield to Dallas, Texas outside Pryor, Oklahoma the following happened: In right hand lane on cruise at 72mph in 65mph, heard clunk in rear. Lost power and car began to slow down. Pulled over and Halodex fluid was spewing from under car. Car would not go into gear and move. Had vehicle towed to closest VW dealer Don Thornton of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Was determined rear differential failed. VW has not offered reason why a 2022 VW Tiguan SEL r-line premium with 49,000 miles approximately had a powertrain failure. In August of last year (12 months ago) we owned a 2017 VW Atlas SEL that had the same issue after an oil change and Halodex fluid service. A clunk was heard and grinding of gears. VW of Wichita, Kansas bought the car from us and put us in the 2022 Tiguan.

The engine has a hesitation at take off. It happens every morning and throughout the day. At a stop light it will hesitate on take off also when leaving a stop sign. Safety is out at risk as the vehicle will hesitate when trying to turn when on coming traffic is approaching. The issue was reproduced bye VW of Ft Myers Florida here is the conversation Me Did they notice a hesitation in the morning when they drive it. I don't think it's a transmission issue more if a fuel issue. VW the tech did check the car the last two mornings and its not that they dont notice the what your talking about , its that it seems normal for this vehicle. there was no faults in the system showing there is anything malfunctioning and they are not getting anything for bad fuel ..these cars are pretty sensitive about triggering a light when something is wrong. we cant find anything at this time The dealer says it’s a known issue and I just have to live with it The vehicle has been inspected bye dealer. The issue appeared rite after purchase and was brought to the dealer 3 weeks later.

When engine is cold, the transmission hesitates/stutters and then slams into gear. After a couple of minutes of driving, the issue stops. Turning the auto start/stop off does not have an impact on the hesitation/stuttering. This is a safety issue. Dealership claims they cannot replicate and no issues on computer diagnostics. Issue has been on going since it was purchased.

Acceleration and shifting at low speeds (below 25mph) is unpredictable. The car will hesitate and then lurch forward in an unpredictable way when reversing up a slope and when starting from a stop, particularly on a hill. The unpredictable nature of the issue, and the tendency of the vehicle to lag and then surge creates a significant safety concern. We took the car to the VW dealer we purchased it from for service. They confirmed there is a problem, and said they have received other complaints. They reset some settings, this did not correct the problem. Since then we have experienced a clunking noise sometimes when the car is shifting gears at low speeds.

Driver fell asleep and vehicle want off the road into a ditch that led to a stone wall protecting a culvert. Vehicle hit the stone wall and was launched into the air across the driveway where it came to a rest on its right side. I estimate that the vehicle left the highway at 45 mph (the cruise control setting) and hit the stone wall at approximately 25-30 mph. During this violent event all airbags deployed EXCEPT DRIVER'S AIRBAG located in the center of the steering wheel. I have a severely bruised and very painful sternum as a result. All systems were normal with no indication of a safety system fault.

Our new vehicle has intermittent acceleration hesitation issues since the day it was delivered to us at the end of August 2022. •We purchased the vehicle on 8/26/2022 •Went into Service at the Dealership on 10/5/2022 for “sluggish acceleration” issues (3-5 days) •Went back into Service on 10/31/2022 for “sluggish acceleration” issues (37 days) •Went back into Service for “sluggish acceleration” issues as of 12/20/2022 (21 days & counting) •Out of the 120 days of ownership, our new vehicle has been in Service for sluggish acceleration issues 53% of the time To date, the VW Dealership's Service Center has been unable to reproduce the sluggish acceleration issues; however, it definitely occurs when we drive it - and it is a safety concern.

My wife was driving our new 2022 VW Tiguan SEL. First incident was yesterday in which there was no audio from the car (radio, phone or otherwise). Second incident today, infotainment screen was blank (black) when put into reverse and no audio. After a little bit of driving the infotainment seemed to reset. During this drive, my wife reached a red light and came to a stop. When the light turned green and my wife attempted to accelerate, the acceleration was no longer working. There were several vehicles behind her that were stopped waiting for her to move. She had to turn the vehicle off and on again before it would work. At this point the infotainment and audio started working again too. I'm reporting this just as I received the information from my wife and will also report to VW. I have not had it inspected by the manufacturer or any other entity yet.

I’m afraid that if a person walks in front of my car( for example at a light or when I am waiting to turn, breaking, for someone crossing the street in front of my car) the car could bounce jump and hit them even when I break as I said, it jumps even while I break. I also am afraid because when I accelerate into traffic it also sometimes doesn’t accelerate and will pause and bounce….car easily could hit me!! I brought it to vw and they tried to tell me the repair would cost over $3000 I then brought it to another reputable repair shop and they thought it wasn’t related to what vw claimed they would fix. The other repair shop stated it to be computer/electrical issues which causes everything else to malfunction down the line and that they see this in many vw because of the heat here where we live (because vw did not reset computer system before checking electrical code again reason/malfunction. Vw only just went with whatever the computer system said without resetting it. Any ways guess I should also tell you when this happens an exclamation point comes up on dash board with some other initials, which I will send photo of. Iam afraid to drive it is in safe. And sometimes if I turn the car off and back on it’s like nothing is wrong with it!!! And it may not happen again for days !! But always happens eventually. This has been going on for on for about 6 months to 1 yr. Vw always blew me off until my warranty was up and now suddenly it’s an over $3000 issue, suddenly know what the problem is now! My 2nd opinion disagrees with them and told me to bring it to him when it happens but is closed each time it happens

Subject: Ongoing Mechanical and Electrical Issues – 2022 VW Tiguan I’m experiencing ongoing issues with my 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan, purchased new and maintained under single ownership. Primary Issue: The vehicle shuts off unexpectedly under various driving conditions—while accelerating on the highway, from a stop at traffic lights, and especially when going uphill or over high bridges. The issue initially occurred once or twice a year around 45,000 miles but has become more frequent. As of 70,000 miles, it now happens on a weekly basis. When this happens, the only way to temporarily resolve the issue is to turn off the vehicle completely and wait approximately 5 minutes before restarting. Recent Maintenance Completed: New car battery (3 battery since purchase of car) New spark plugs (Replaced in June 2025) Regular oil changes (every 3000 miles) New engine air filter and cabin air filter (yearly) Additional Symptoms: The rear-view camera frequently times out or fails to display when reversing. The dealership has not been able to confirm the cause but has mentioned a potential error code P30DE00, suggesting alternator replacement. However, a second opinion found no active error codes, leaving the root cause unclear. I'm seeking a definitive diagnosis and a resolution plan, as the issue has become a safety concern.

I have had several incidents where the forward collision activated for no reason. I didn’t keep track of dates because I did t realize I would need to. Then I began having other issues: Incident 1 June 7, 2025: i was driving down the road and lost all power. Car wouldn’t start back up. Got a jumpstart and didn’t have any issues like that after that for two months. Issue 2: July 3, 2025: Infotainment center went completely black. Callled dealership and they told me it wasn’t under warranty. July 11, 2025: backup camera came on in reverse. August 3, 2025: backup camera came on while in reverse. August 15. 2025: backup camera came on in reverse. August 27, 2025: went to start car for in morning and it start, just made strange sounds along with clicking. Put on battery charger for 20 minutes, started it and let run for a few minutes. It was fine after that. August 27, 2025: displayed the welcome to Volkswagen three times today. Backup camera came on. August 28, 2025: sitting in my car without power on and the welcome to Volkswagen displayed on infotainment screen.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that after an oil change, additional oil needed to be added to the engine. The oil light was illuminated. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle was slow to respond. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was eventually diagnosed, and determined that the oil was leaking into the valve. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle began to smoke and then stalled. The brake lines were flushed. The contact had an altercation with the dealer and was banned from the location. The manufacturer was contacted, and opened a case, but declined a buyback. There was no additional communication. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I am experiencing a serious safety issue with my 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan involving delayed acceleration. The problem occurs intermittently but frequently: when pressing the gas pedal from a complete stop or low-speed situation (such as turning or merging), there is often a 5–10 second delay before the vehicle responds and begins accelerating. During this lag, the engine does not rev, and the vehicle does not move, leaving me and my passengers vulnerable in intersections, while turning into traffic, or merging onto highways. This issue has occurred multiple times since purchase, and has created multiple near-miss situations, including once where I attempted to cross a two-lane road and the vehicle did not move for several seconds after pressing the accelerator. Other drivers had to brake abruptly to avoid collision. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Volkswagen dealer twice. They were unable to replicate the issue and returned the car without repair. The third visit is currently being scheduled. No warning lights or diagnostic codes were present, and the dealer stated they could not reproduce the problem. Volkswagen has not issued a fix to my knowledge. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance. There were no warning lamps or messages at the time of the failures. The issue began within the first few months of ownership and has persisted intermittently for the past several months. I paid $30,000 cash for this vehicle in 2023 and it is still under warranty. This issue presents an ongoing safety hazard and significantly reduces my confidence in the vehicle’s ability to respond in traffic. Based on forums and consumer reports, I have reason to believe this is a known issue affecting multiple VW Tiguan vehicles of the same model year. I am available to provide additional documentation, including a written log of the issue and video evidence upon request. I respectfully urge NHTSA to investigate this matter.

At 49,000 miles, all four spark plugs and ignition coils failed and had to be replaced due to engine stuttering and hesitation during acceleration. The check engine light first appeared as I approached a red light to make a timed left turn at a high-traffic intersection during rush hour. The malfunction caused my vehicle to struggle accelerating through the intersection, putting myself and others at risk. A certified mechanic confirmed the error code indicating faulty spark plugs and coils and replaced all components under warranty. However, the check engine light continued to reappear intermittently—sometimes turning off for a week after restarting the engine, other times staying on for extended periods. Despite the initial replacement, the same code concern persisted, and the mechanic replaced the components again under the parts and labor warranty. When the issue continued, I took my vehicle to my regular trusted mechanic, who performed a more in-depth diagnostic. They discovered an excessive and unusual amount of carbon buildup in the fuel injectors, which was likely triggering the engine code and causing drivability issues. This diagnosis resulted in an additional repair expense of nearly $700. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but the failed components are available for inspection upon request. These issues are unexpected given the vehicle's low mileage, age, and regular maintenance. Total repairs reached nearly $1,300. The hesitation posed a safety risk in traffic and suggests a possible premature system failure. My regular mechanic noted Volkswagen may claim this is “regular maintenance,” though this is not common in similar makes and models like the Tiguan.

The car vibrates excessively when in drive or reverse and the brake is being held. Vibrations stop if car is put in neutral. Car also hesitates when driving. And is a major safety issue when driving. The vibration is also in my opinion a safety concern because it’s causing excessive wear and tear on other parts of the car. The dealership acknowledged that there’s excessive play or wear in the dogbone mount but refused to replace it because I was told that part should be bad because there’s less then 30k miles in the car. But I am still having the same problem with the vehicle and have had it in the dealership service department where they will keep the vehicle for a few days and then tell me they can’t find anything. The most recent visit to the dealership they never even test drove the vehicle and I even had the service rep Sit in the loaner and then sit in my vehicle to feel the difference between the two which is extremely obvious and he refuses to acknowledge it.

There is a continuous alert stating "Travel Assist not available" even though Travel Assist is actively on, working, and exterior sensors are clear and clean. A Volkswagen dealer confirmed that it is due to faulty sensors in the steering wheel. There seem to be hundreds of people who have reported the same issue over several years, yet there has not been a recall yet for this issue.

The car stalls and lags out when accelerating and appears to slip gears (daily). The dealership stated this is normal for the car to do, but it’s very scary and nearly caused me to be rear ended. The car turns off at a stop light (unexpected ) and has to be restarted. I am experiencing jerking and sputtering of the vehicle when at a complete stop. First the car indicates the start/stop function is deactivated, then the car produces a message stating the engine speed max is 2500 rpm. Then the EPC light comes on and/or the check engine light. I initially took my car in to the dealership for maintenance (standard) in October. I have since returned 2 more times due to the same issue. Upon starting the car tokay, the car started jerking and this time the check engine light came on and continued to blink. The car started rattling loudly and I turned off the engine for about 10 minutes, called the dealership and they advised me to pay to have it towed if the issue persists. This will be the 4th time in 2 months. Each time the diagnostic stated the issue caused by “sensors” and the warranty allowed this to be fixed at no cost. I am also expecting unexpected blackouts of the infotainment system which prevent me from using the rearview camera for when in reverse.

During the course of normal vehicle operation, multiple Travel Assist system failures and alerts as documented within Volkswagen Technical Service Bulletin 2070207/1 occur. Three repair attempts have previously been performed by Volkswagen Jackson (Ritchey Automotive) in Jackson, Mississippi as documented by invoices dated 20 FEB 2024, 27 FEB 2024, and 12 MAR 2024. These efforts appear to conform with the previously cited Technical Service Bulletin 2070207/1 and confirm the defect(s) and/or nonconformity as per the Bulletin's summary of "48‐23‐ 01-Travel Assist Currently Not Available." The frequency and persistence of visual and auditory safety alerts pose significant hazards to the safety of the driver and vehicle occupants as an unnecessary distraction and nuisance in addition to the direct hazards of antecedent electrical malfunction and driver assistance system defects/nonconformity/failure. This matter has been discussed with dealership staff, yielding no productive resolution, and further assistance is being pursued through Volkswagen Customer CARE. All rights to resolution through alternative means are documented as expressly reserved.

Crack spontaneously appeared near VW logo on steering wheel. The crack is growing. Volkswagen dealership said the airbag and steering wheel plate cover need to be replaced but unwilling to cover under warranty. Steering wheel plate cover looks to be swollen and other visible areas show stress marks. Dealership is ordering replacement part to replace next week. Dealership did not say this is a safety concern, but I feel it is needs to be reported to the correct persons. No warning lights have occurred.

Since, I've owned it (new), there has only been 1 other time (XXX) when I am stopped at a red light, I go to accelerate at the green light, and my car has completely turned off. Requiring me to turn on my emergency lights on, then placing my car in park, and restart the car. The second time this happened was on [XXX], which prompted me to take my car to the VW dealership in Rockville, MD. The dealership was unable to find or replicate the issue so they sent me home with no plan. I have also experienced radio issues, namely that it just stops working or won't turn on at all. Since I purchased this vehicle new, there have been several persistent, and dangerous problems. I have repeatedly reported these to my local dealership, Larry Miller VW, in Lakewood, Colorado, and they have effectively ignored me. The first problem is with the steering column/lane assist functions. The failure light/beep for lane assist is frequently alarming, and the control of the steering changes depending on whether lane assist is "on" or "off" or malfunctioning. Sometimes the steering jolts severely in one direction. This is manifestly dangerous. The second problem is that the radio malfunctions in all manner of distracting and dangerous ways. The radio sometimes shuts off without warning and cannot be turned back on. Sometimes the sound remains "on" but the screen goes "black" so that you cannot read a map or make a selection from the control menu. Sometimes the radio alarms that the driver is about to hit an object in front or in back of the vehicle, when there is no object anywhere around. This is very dangerous because the alarm is loud and the brakes are applied if the car believes an object is near. I have videos of these problems occurring. There is no specific date as these problems have been happening since I purchased the car new, until today, 7/10/24.

The vehicle’s infotainment system automatically displays the rear view backup camera, as expected, when placed in reverse. However, this can be overridden by selecting the X in the upper right of the screen or by selecting another function such as the APP button. The only way to get the backup camera to display again is to put the car in a different gear/park and then back into reverse. Not being able to see in reverse puts anyone behind my vehicle at risk. There should not be a way to defeat the camera.

I bought this brand new Tiguan in July 2022. The engine is either leaking or burning engine oil. I have the check engine oil level light on around every 2000-3000 miles. I had been to the dealer several times. They just inspect for leak and added engine oil. The problem still exist. The dealer stated that my car needs oil change every 10k miles. I am going back every 2-3 k miles for engine oil. There is something wrong with the engine. It is burning or consuming the engine oil. Another problem i have is the wheel or the brakes. When I was braking at above 60 miles per hours, there is a strong vibration on the wheel or brakes.

I've had a 2022 VW Tiguan SEL-Premium 4-Motion for about 1 week. It has approximately 23,000 miles on it. After a few days of problem free driving, the car displays a warning "Travel Assist Currently Not Available" upon startup and also while driving. The problem sometimes goes away on its own, other times it keeps warning the driver of an error with the system. I've seen in reoccur at least half a dozen times in one week. There is no way to fully disable this system to prevent the warning from occurring. I ran a scan of the error codes, and found code B17B8F2 to be the issue. I cleared the code and then it returned within 15 minutes. Research led me to find this is a very common problem. VW has issued their own TSB which can be found on this website. TSB transaction no. 2070207/1. It appears the entire steering wheel needs to be replaced to resolve this issue. In my mind, this should be a voluntary recall on all models affected by this problem. It appears this is a manufacturing defect but I've also seen that there is a huge backlog of steering wheels needed before parts can be installed to rectify the situation, leaving owners without a remedy to fix a distracting warning light and sound.

Car was purchased new on 3 Oct 2022. I was at dealer on 17 Jul 2023 for the 5th time for issues with infotainment screen going black and/or freezing. Diagnosis revealed it needed another F5 computer chip (the 2nd replacement). In addition, I was informed I needed a new steering wheel. A few days later, lane departure and travel assist function would turn off/on spontaneously, frequently pulling me from my lane. As of 23 Jul 2023, the infotainment screen died. I no longer have a my backup camera which I rely on extensively. In addition, I lost my navigation, apple play, radio, phone charger. VW has no ETA for a replacement parts and stated a loaner was not included in my purchase warranty. I am investigating their buyback program, however that may take over 45 days. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

The first and most pressing issue is the throttle lag. From a dead stop (red light/stop sign) the car will not accelerate when the gas pedal is depressed. It lags for a few seconds before lurching forward. I fell like I'm a candidate to get rear-ended. Today, after driving through a heavy rain storm, the throttle lag caused the car to barely move. Like at all. Fortunately this happened as I was pulling into my driveway. The car simply just BARELY made it home. The second issue is the incessant warning lights and bells that go off because of a lane departure assist error. It will go off 30 times in row, and the not at all. It's really hit or miss. But when it happens its very distracting. The dealership says they're aware of the problem, and to fix it requires replacing the steering wheel. Which is on perpetual back order. I've discussed both issues with the dealer. They're aware of both issues. They said that there's nothing that can be done about the throttle lag issue as that's just how the transmission is tuned. And they're also aware of the electrical gremlin. Just waiting for the steering wheel to come in......

There is a delayed acceleration issues on my brand new car, which have become progressively worse and worse. You press on the gas pedal and it stutters to the point of stalling out. I took it into the dealership to have it evaluated and they told me this is a computer software update that they have no control over. I contacted VW corporate and they told me there is no problem and the customer service person (Dominique H.) laughed at me. There are a lot of reports just like this on the internet. Someone is going to die because of this issue. Please address this ASAP it is a major safety hazard that is going to become catastrophic in the near future.

The car has always had initial take off problems, pressing the gas to accelerate out of my driveway or any place I’m first taking off at when turning on the vehicle again, the acceleration cuts out in the middle of accelerating and then all of a sudden revs up. That’s with keeping a steady consistent foot on the gas pedal. It jerks down and then jerks up and is not able to avoid. Through the last few months I’ve also noticed involuntary steering-I start to think it’s windy outside pushing me from side to side but the trees are clearly not moving as if it is. Then I was driving today, started it up, got about 5 miles from my house, starting shaking the whole car while accelerating up and the EPC and check engine light was blinking. I had to turn around to bring it home, wouldn’t let me go past 35 without shaking intensely but made it back to my driveway.

. The "travel assist not available" alert goes off intermittently while driving for over a year now, sometimes 15-20 times in the span of 10 minutes which also makes a loud noise that cannot be disabled and is causes me to be startled and distracted while driving - nearly resulting in wrecks multiple times. I have taken the car to the dealership many times to resolve this - only for them to tell me they "can't find the issue" and sending me off to drive an unsafe car. Finally on the last visit they discovered the steering column needs replaced but that is backorder and has no estimate for arrival. In addition to this - The entire "infotainment system" will stop working intermittently, sometimes for days at a time, meaning that the backup camera and driving modes cannot be adjusted at all because the screen is black and will not even power on. I have attempted to reset it as instructed with no success as there is not even power to the system. None of the safety features on the car work correctly or are able to be used - the lane/ travel assist features have not functioned properly since around 5,000 miles and everything else has gone downhill from there. I have attempted to resolve these issues with the dealership various times and have not once been presented with a resolution that actually solved the issue.

When unlocking the car the speakers will play a constant loud thud sound at max volume. The infotainment system will seize. Additionally, the sound system may play no sound from the speakers at all. The vehicle must be allowed to completely turn off in order to be fixed.

I purchased this vehicle in June 2022 VW of Orlando North Florida. I had issues with salesperson [XXX] as he caught himself in lies. Anyway, my vehicle has 5,000 miles I keep in excellent condition I was going to detail and add some wheel options when I observed all 4 tires on this vehicle do not match. 3 are scorpions and 1 is Pirelli. Which means unbeknownst to me I’ve been driving this new Tiguan and suv with different tires. I was always aware especially vehicles awd should be fitted with the same tires. This is a violation, a safety hazard. I contacted VW of America, Vw Orlando and others I will take this incident complaint all the way to the President if I have to When I purchased this vehicle I was charged for ventilated front seats which was included in the car cost. A disclaimer read they are not installed even though there are buttons. The took off $200 I’m not a mathematician but a 2,000 option not connected with a $200 credit appears they made 1800 extra off me. I want this investigated, as a former law officer I know this is illegal and a very bad safety issue especially regarding the mismatched tires [XXX]. I went in the VW Camelback to get it fix they had to order a part I bought it back today March 9th 2023 to get fixed had car all day they said it was steering module which they replace car still under warranty. 1-Most importantly, while driving my vehicle on 4 separate occasions I am alerted of possible impact or close vehicle and the car hard brakes by itself on 2 of theses malfunctions I was almost rear ended. 2- I was sitting in my vehicle on a phone call in my buildings garage and my windshield just cracked out of nowhere. Nothing hit my vehicle and a crack just started rising from the bottom of the Left drivers side straight across the center of my windshield . 3- on several occasions while driving my radio/gps display just blacked out and I had to reset it in order to get it back on. 4- my front suspension sounds like is is going to fall out of the car when I hit the smallest of bumps, it almost sounds like it was installed and never tightened up. 5- when it rains or snows the sensors on the vehicle start bugging out and alerting me of multiple hazards when in fact there is nothing near me. This issue may be related to the earlier mentioned statement #1 This could be a scary thing for some people.

Since new (1/12/2022) the vehicle looses power when shifting between 1st and 2nd and/or 2nd and 3rd. This has been to the dealer several times and they always claim they can not duplicate the issue as it tends to be intermediate. I had to go to the dealer, drive the vehicle with the service manager and show him exactly what it does. I did that 3 weeks after the car was left with the dealer, this latest time, which it is currently still at the dealer for over a month now. Now they are telling me that this is how the transmission works and there is nothing they can do. This is dangerous! You don't know when it is going to happen and it doesn't matter if the car is warm or cold. You don't know, when pulling into traffic, if the vehicle is going to accelerate or not. Volkswagen claiming this is a normal function is a complete lie. They can't explain why it only happens randomly, but will just say it's "normal". It's unsafe and they need to do a nationwide recall and provide everyone who has an unsafe vehicle, a vehicle to drive until they are able to provide us with a vehicle that isn't dangerous to drive.

While driving the vehicle, frequent faults stating "travel assist is currently not available" display on the instrument cluster, along with a warning light. During this time, the travel assist features can not be used. The error occurs randomly, and can happen multiple times back to back - it is not uncommon for the car's warning sound to alarm 10 or more times in a 20 minute drive. Scans of the vehicles's modules show multiple communication errors stemming back to the "Control Module for Steering Wheel Touch Detention". After taking the car to the dealership for an official diagnosis, it was determined that the steering wheel is indeed faulty and must be replaced. The car had just under 6000 miles prior to being brought to the dealership for diagnosis.

Tire pressure sensor seems to consistently read low tire pressure every month or so, adjust tire pressures and problem keeps happening. A month ago, I had a tire explode and I’m not sure if it was related to a faulty tire or from my improper tire gauge constantly giving me troubles. Bought the car in September 2022, and have replaced 2 Pirelli tires since. Now again my tire pressure is reading low in all my tires and the last time they fixed it was 12/23/22, hasn’t even been a month. I see they have had recalls on prior vehicles due to tire pressure loss detection issues. I have 4000 miles on my car.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND INFOTAINMENT DISPLAY WERE BLACKED OUT IN DAY TIME FROM START UP AND FOR DURATION OF DRIVE APROXIMATE 2 HOURS. RESTARTING HAD NO EFFECT, TURNING LIGHTS ON AND OFF HAD NO EFFECT ON DASH DISPLAY. BRIGHTNESS OF DISPLAY IS CONTROLLED THROUGH INFOTAINMENT DISPLAY WHICH WAS NOT VISIBLE. AFTER 20 MINUTE SHUTDOWN AND RESTART DISPLAY WAS NORMAL AGAIN. CHECKING DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS SETTING, IT WAS NORMAL. i RESET IT TO VERY HIGH. 1 HR LATER WHILE DRIVING DISPLAY DIMMED AND BRIGHTENED REPEATEDLY OVER 5 MINUTE DURATION, THEN WENT DARK AGAIN FOR DURATION OF DRIVE, BUT DUE TO RESET OF BRIGHTNESS I COULD DIMMLY SEE SPEEDOMETER READING. PERHAPS IF I HAD A BLANKET TO COVER DISPLAY WHEN IT FIRST STARTED IT MAY HAVE BEEN VISIBLE BUT JUST EXTREMELY DIM. DURING THIS CONDITION BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY ALSO BLACK.

I took possession of this vehicle on 7/08/2022 and have had multiple problems with the infotainment ctr, cruise control, homelink, wireless charging pad, etc. However the most serious problem occurred on 08/27 when while sitting at a stop light on a downward hill ( I was the front car with a line of vehicles behind me ) while attempting a left turn I accelerated to realize that the car had turned off and I was coasting into the middle of a busy intersection with no way to stop as cars behind me were attempting to turn left also. I attempted to coast off the side of road and out of the intersection as cars were flying around my vehicle, honking their horns and trying to avoid a collision with me. I had a passenger in the car, we were both terrified. The car was still in Drive and a warning message appeared that the vehicle must be manually restarted. The cross traffic started to drive through the intersection as I now had put the vehicle in park and restart and get the car out of the intersection and into a safe place. The day prior ( 08/26 ) the car had also shut down on me as I was pulled off the side of the road and attempted a left turn into a driveway ( while working on my job ). I went directly to my dealership and was told they would get me an appt the following week, however the same problem occurred the next day ( 08/27 ) which almost resulted in a crash. I was told by the dealership that it is a Start/Stop issue, that VW is aware of the problem however there is no fix at this time. I no longer feel safe driving this car. The problem has been reported to VW and a case has been opened. The dealership has had my car for 27 days as of today. They state that they have not been able to duplicate the issue.

I want to make you aware of a situation that I experienced with my daughters new 2022 Tiguan VIN [XXX]. We were driving in very windy conditions with light rain. I lost temporary control of the vehicle. There did not seem to be enough water for hydroplaning although that's what it felt like. This SUV was very difficult to regain control of despite only going 60 mph when the loss of control occurred. I am an experienced driver that spent most of my career in sales. I drive a lot in the worst of conditions and traffic. I could barley keep this vehicle on the road. That night on the news we saw a report of a meteorologist student that was killed due to an accident caused by hydroplaning. Guess what type of vehicle, VW Tiguan. Not feeling it was a safe vehicle for our daughter to continue to drive, we traded it in. We received a recall notice from VW. A broken rear suspension knuckle can cause a loss of stability, increasing the risk of a crash. This could very well be what occurred. Or possibly the auto braking system kicked in without cause. The torch during braking was strong enough to make everyone in the car sore for a few days. Thankfully we did not hit any other vehicles on the road around us. We went back to the VW dealership where we purchased the vehicle from to trade in or sell back the vehicle. We suffered a great financial loss for trading in this new vehicle to Subaru. Well worth it for to protect the safety of our daughter. The issues with the Tiguan's' needs to be looked into closely because on a busy highway at 60mph if my daughter would have been driving the outcome I believe would have been much worse. Very scary! When we drive the car the excelarator pedal does respond to moving the vehicle when in heavy traffic and starting off the response is slow the the vehicle jumps forward this has happened since we bought it please let’s not have another Toyota TPS problem with many people ding before anyone says something.

Seven months after I purchased this vehicle as new the driver side rear seatbelt buckle is not working which is preventing that passenger to put the seatbelt on, it keeps coming out. I called the local Dealership, FIndley Henderson Volkwagen, and the earliest appointment is a week from today, which means I can't have anyone sitting there. Any car after seven months shouldn't have this kind of safety problem. maybe it's a design issue.

I leased a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan from Brooklyn Volkswagen on May 24, 2022, within 48 hours I experienced a strong vibration upon braking. Most noticeable at speeds higher than 25mph. On May 31, 2022 I returned the car to the Brooklyn Volkswagen Service Center for inspection. It had been determined by my service advisor that the brakes and brake pads would need to be replaced and a multi-point inspection was ordered. The most important safety feature was faulty on my brand new car. As of today, June 5, 2022, the work has not been completed on my vehicle.

While driving car gives error messages: Driver door contact switch, then drivers window and drivers side passengers window rolls down 2 inches. With in a few seconds get Error Start/Stop, and a few seconds later Fault: Electronic parking brake. When I slowed to a stop the parking break engaged and stopped the vehicle. The only way to move the vehicle is to turn off and restart. Upon restart you can disingage the parking break and move the vehicle from the roadway.
