when accelerating onto the freeway, hit 55mph and the car just stopped going. it would not go into any gear, turned off car and it still wouldnt go into gear. AAA showed up said "oh, we see this in the acadia all the time" plugged something in under the dash, the check engine light went off and he said "there you go, now it'll work fine, just dont give it hard gas when getting up to speed" turns out the code was a tranny code that when he cleared it the tranny would then work. Its bad enough i have to deal with this leaking A/C unit, 3 cans a week, and that smell is terrible, i cant even get the car up to speed when entering the freeway traffic. please make gmc fix these issues, i know im not the only one with both issues. Thank you.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, A SHATTERING SOUND WAS HEARD UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING, SHATTERED, AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PERFORMING PROPERLY FOR MORE THAN A WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

I bought car from a used car dealer ship. And didn’t really notice it had an air bag light on the cluster . Because newer vehicles the our bags stay off for passenger side if know one is in the seat. So that’s what I thought it was til I had it put on a computer. And it say it’s a sensor for passenger side air bag

PREMATURE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT I WAS JUMPING THE ACADIA FROM OUR 2012 FORD FUSION DUE TO A NO START - NO CRANK ISSUE. THE ACADIA'S BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DISCHARGED, SO I PLACED JUMPER CABLES ONTO THE POSITIVE END FROM THE FUSE BOX AND THE GROUND TERMINAL. THE ACADIA'S HORN WORKED, INDICATING ELECTRICAL POWER, SO I TRIED TO CRANK IT BUT IT DID NOT CRANK. I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND SAT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT FOR LESS THAN A MINUTE BEFORE THE DRIVER AIRBAG SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, THE ACADIA'S ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED BACK IN JULY OR AUGUST. THE CAR DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE CHARGING SYSTEM FAILED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE CAR SAT IN THE YARD FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE I TRIED TO JUMP IT OFF THE FIRST TIME. THE CAR DID START, BUT IT DIED ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER. THE CAR SAT IN THE YARD FOR WEEK BEFORE I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. THIS IS WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. ONE MORE THING: THE ACADIA LEAKED FROM THE SUNROOF, AND THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WAS WET. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONICS. ATTACHED ARE PICTURES AFTER THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED.

I'M HAVING CHRONIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS I'VE SPENT &2000. SO FAR ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE GMC DEALER HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY TELLING ME I'M HAVING MULTIPLE ISSUES REGARDING THE TOTAL WAVE PLATE OF THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH IS EFFECTING OTHER AREAS OF THE CARE. NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS A LEMON-MAKE. THAT IT WAS BUILT FAULTY & GMC KNOWS IT. THEY HAVE HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS AND REFUSE TO RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE IS HARD SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. HAD SERVICED WITH NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID ON 7/2/13. IT WAS TOWED TO PARKS CHEVROLET IN CHARLOTTE, NC WHERE TRANSMISSION WAS DISASSEMBLED WITH PARTS REPLACED AND REBUILT. UPON DEPARTURE OF PICKUP VEHICLE IS STILL SHIFTING HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR (AROUND 20-25MPH) AND WE HOPE TO MAKE BACK HOME TO OHIO SAFELY. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE IS COMMON IN GMC ACADIAS. The contact owned a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, she heard an abnormal noise and the AC vent started to blow out hot air. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that she parked at a nearby store parking lot and she saw fire at two different locations. The contact stated she was able to enter the store and extinguish the small fire located on the front passenger’s side on the instrument cluster with a gallon of water. The fire department extinguished the larger fire located by the AC wiring assembly. The fire department also stated that the fire was caused by an electrical failure and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact stated she burned multiple fingers on her right hand and the fire department assisted with her burns. A fire report was not filed. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

CORRODED FUSE BLOCK CAUSES THE SUV TO NOT START PERIODICALLY AND REQUIRES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE STARTING. I RESEARCHED AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH WINDSHIELD AND SUNROOF DRAINS. VERY EXPENSIVE FOR OWNER TO BARE COSTS TO REPAIR.

VEHICLE WAS AT IDLE FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE PUTTING IT IN TO DRIVE ON THE EVENING OF 3/3/2018. BEGAN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IMMEDIATELY CAME AND BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY ON ACCELERATION. ALL THE DASH LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER AND THEN ALL ELECTRICAL EVENTUALLY DIED WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN TO DRIVE. ONCE THE CAR WAS SAFELY PULLED OVER, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD THAT HAD THE SMELL OF PLASTIC OR BURNT WIRES. I POPPED THE HOOD AND THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE FUSE BOX AREA. THANKFULLY THE CAR DIDN'T CATCH ON FIRE. SOME HISTORY ON THIS VEHICLE; IT WAS BROUGHT IN TO OUR LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP AROUND SEPTEMBER 2016 WITH STABILITY TRAC CONTROL ISSUES WHICH WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO HESITATE ROUGHLY AT IDLE AND ACCELERATION. AFTER INVESTIGATING, THE DEALER FOUND THAT IT WAS A LOOSE WIRE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FUSE BOX THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM; WHICH THEY FIXED AND THE PROBLEM NEVER CAME BACK UNTIL THE EVENING OF OUR INCIDENT WHEN THE STC LIGHT CAME ON; FOLLOWED BY THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE... I'LL PUT MY MONEY ON THAT FUSE BOX AGAIN AS BEING THE CULPRIT. AAA (BATTERY SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN) CAME OUT THIS MORNING TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND WHEN HE TRIED TO RUN TESTS ON THE BATTERY BUT THE GMC WAS BACK FEEDING POWER IN TO HIS CABLES AND MELTED THEM AND THE CONNECTOR ON HIS TRUCK. HE SAID THAT HE THINKS THAT IT'S THE FUSE BOX (WITHOUT KNOWING HISTORY) BUT HAS NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS AND SUGGESTED THAT WE TAKE IT TO A SHOP. IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THERE ARE ANY RECALLS RELATING TO THIS SO THIS WILL BE OUT OF POCKET TO KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE. CAR WILL BE HEADED TO THE SHOP SOON BUT DREADING THE THOUGHT OF THAT BILL I DON'T FEEL WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ON SEEING IS THAT THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE.

THE ACADIA HAD A RECALL ON THE SUNROOF FOR LEAKING LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. MY ACADIA HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WATER LEAKED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DOWN THE FRAME ADJACENT TO THE DOOR AND WINDOW THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH INTO THE FLOOR AREA. THERE IS A FUSE BOX LOCATED IN THIS AREA AS WELL AS A VERY LARGE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR THAT CONNECTS TWO PORTIONS OF THE WIRING HARNESS. THE EXPOSURE OF THIS COMPONENT TO WATER HAS RESULTED IN CORROSION OCCURRING WITH THIS CONNECTOR. THIS IS A MAJOR CONNECTOR AFFECTING MULTIPLE SYSTEMS OF THE VEHICLE. THE SYSTEM GIVING ME THE LARGEST CAUSE FOR CONCERN IS THE DOOR LOCKS. ON A DAILY BASIS THE LOCKS WON'T RESPOND TO THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON ON ANY OF THE DOORS NOT WILL I RESPOND TO THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY REMOTE. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT EGRESS DANGER AS THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS IS TO MANUALLY PUT UP THE LOCK. THIS IS FOR EVERY DOOR, ALL FOUR OF THEM. I HAVE AN INFANT IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE AND IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION IT WOULD REQUIRE ME TO LITERALLY CRAWL FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT TO THE REAR SEAT, MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR AND THEN ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THIS ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AS THE FAULT DUE TO CORROSION FROM WATER HAS BEEN OCCURRING NOT JUST TO ME, IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING TO MANY OWNERS THAT SUFFERED FROM LEAKING ROOFS ON THEIR BRAND NEW VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT GMC NEEDS TO STEP UP AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE SAFETY HAZARD THEY CREATED AND SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. BY THE NHTSA IF THEY WILL NOT DO IT THEMSELVES.

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while it was raining, water was leaking from the driver's side door into the foot well. The contact stated that the water caused a short circuit, which caused the electrical system to stop sounding warning chimes, turn signals, and the radio was inoperable. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the amplifier needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

AFTER THE REPAIR, THE ABILITY TO AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE THE LIFTGATE WAS INOPERABLE BECAUSE THE MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE HAVE HAD WATER LEAKING IN THROUGH OUR THIRD ROW LIGHTS, AND THROUGH THE 3RD ROW SEAT BELTS, AND UNDER THE DASH WHEN IT RAINS. THE CAR IS USUALLY IN A TILT WHEN THIS HAPPENS (FRONT UP), AND IT GETS WORSE AS I DRIVE. I CAN USUALLY HEAR THE WATER SLOSHING AROUND. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THE DRAIN TUBES WERE CLOGGED, SO THEY UNCLOGGED THEM. I SPENT $350, AND 2 DAYS LATER, WHEN WE HAD A BIG RAIN, IT WAS LEAKING EVEN MORE THAN EVER. IT IS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY ARE WATER TESTING YET AGAIN (THIS MAKES THE 3RD TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT FOR THIS ISSUE). IT WAS LEAKING AT THE TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR POST, DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG ON THE MOLDING NEAR THE WINDSHIELD, PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE FLOOR(BY THE GLOVE BOX) AND FROM MY FACTORY INSTALLED DVD PLAYER. BOTH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE MELTED THE BULB SOCKETS AND THE BULB HOUSING. THE SOCKETS HAVE MELTED SO BAD THAT YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE BULB AND THE HOUSING HAS MELTED SO BAD THAT THE HOUSING WILL NO LONGER HOLD THE BULB IN PLACE. THE PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED BY THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT TURN THE LIGHTS EITHER ON OR OFF BECAUSE THE DIAL DEFAULTS TO AUTOMATIC WHICH WILL USE THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY UNLESS YOU PHYSICALLY TURN THEM OFF EACH TIME YOU TURN THE CAR OFF. THIS SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES CAUSES A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD! THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY. THE PHOTO WITHOUT A BULB IS THE LEFT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT HOUSING AND THE PHOTO OF THE BULB GOES IN THAT HOUSING. THE PHOTOS WITH THE BULB STILL IN THE HOUSING ARE OF THE RIGHT RUNNING LIGHT. THE HOUSING IS COMPLETELY MELTED AND A SUBSTANCE HAS MELTED OUT OF THE SOCKET AND INTO THE HOUSING. I FEAR THAT THESE CIRCUMSTANCES WITH CAUSE A FIRST AND JEOPARDIZE THE SAFETY OF ME, MY WIFE AND MY CHILDREN.

A FEW MONTHS LATER, ON 04/03/09, MY CAR WAS LEAKING WATER ONTO THE DASHBOARD, FROM THE DOME LIGHTS, WINDOW AIRBAG. THE WATER WAS POOLED IN MY DOME LIGHTS (8 TOTAL LIGHTS). TOOK TRUCK IN TO BE REPAIRED THAT DAY. THEY COULD NOT GET TO IT FOR 3 DAYS, WORK WAS DONE ON 04/06/09. I WAS TOLD THE PROCEDURES THEY HAD TO PERFORM THE RECALL BACK IN SEPT. TOOK 2007 GMC ACADIA IN BECAUSE AC BLOWER MOTOR WAS NOT WORKING. WHEN AC WAS TURNED ON IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND COULDN'T GET AIR TO FLOW. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR WENT OUT DUE TO WATER LEAKING IN THOUGH THE SIDE AND FRONT BODY PANELS. SINCE THE 36,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY IS UP THIS LEAK IS NO LONGER COVERED. WE HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT BECAUSE THE MOTOR WENT OUT DUE TO A WATER LEAK THE BLOWER MOTOR IS NOT COVERED. TWICE, IN A MATTER OF 24 HOURS, AS WE WERE PULLING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED ABRUPTLY. FORTUNATELY WE WERE MOVING SLOWLY IN OUR DRIVEWAY AT THE TIME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE OF ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO GAIN SPEED. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT BURNING FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT WIRES WERE BURNING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE PURCHASED THIS ACADIA USED IN APRIL 2010 WITH ABOUT 40,000 MILES. IN EARLY JULY 2012 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THIS HAS BEEN REPAIRED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY AS OF JULY 15, 2012. ON AUGUST 1, 2013, OUR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN. DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE, WE HAVE HAD THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATING ERRATICALLY AND THE RADIO WILL NOT ALWAYS SHUT OFF WHEN THE ENGINE HAS BEEN STOPPED AND DRIVER'S DOOR OPENED & CLOSED (POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS). WE'VE ASKED OUR GMC DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE ELECTRIC, BUT EACH TIME THEY SAY NOTHING SHOWS ANY ERRORS ON THEIR COMPUTER TESTS. WITH THE RECENT ISSUE IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR ON THE TRANSMISSION (AGAIN!) WE HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS SITES FROM OTHER 2007 ACADIA OWNERS STATING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THAT IT IS REPETITIVE. IF THIS HAS BEEN A WIDESPREAD AND KNOWN PROBLEM, THIS WAS NOT SHARED BY OUR DEALERSHIP. GIVEN OUR VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 100K MILES AND WILL LIKELY HAVE A 3RD TRANSMISSION IN ITS 6 YEAR AGE, THIS IS NOT A VEHICLE I FEEL SAFE HAVING MY WIFE AND 3 YOUNG CHILDREN CONTINUE TO RIDE IN. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR OPTIONS ARE VERY LIMITED FINANCIALLY TO FIND A VEHICLE ALLOWING FOR THE AMOUNT OF SPACE NEEDED FOR 2 CAR SEATS IN ADDITION TO OUR 9 YEAR OLD BOOSTER SEAT (NORMALLY CANNOT SEAT THEM IN ONE ROW SIDE BY SIDE BY SIDE). WHEN WE WERE LOOKING AT THE GMC ACADIA AND GOING OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE, WE MENTIONED TO THE SALES REP THAT THE ACCELERATION WAS VERY SLUGGISH. THE CAR HAS HAD ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE WE PURCHASED IT DUE TO WATER LEAKS FROM A FLAWED SUNROOF DESIGN. WE GOT THIS 2007 GMC ACADIA AT 100,230 MILES ON AUGUST 2014. NOW IT HAS AROUND 133,800 MILES. AT 115,000 MILES IT STATED TO HAVE ISSUES WHERE IT SAID STABILITY TRACK. THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF BY ITSELF AND NOT SURE IF THE STABILITY AND THIS ARE THE SAME THING. SOME ELECTRIC PARTS HAVE ALREADY FAILED. THE CHARGING OUTLET AND ELECTRIC WINDOWS DON'T WORK RIGHT. THE PASSENGER SIDE CAN NOT BE PUT DOWN BY DRIVER SIDE. THE REAR RIGHT SIDE CAN ONLY BE PUT DOWN OF UP BY THE DRIVER. THE LEFT REAR DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE DRIVER PUTS IT DOWN OR UP. IT WAS RECALL 15240.THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL GETS HARD TO TURN WHEN MAKING A TURN OR U TURN. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AS I AM DRIVING. ONE TIME IS ALMOST MADE ME CRASH INTO A CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO MECHANICS AND IT HAS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION CODES. FOR JUST THE TRANSMISSION CODES IT WILL COST ME UP TO $4,000. ACCORDING TO THE CARFAX RECORDS IT HAS HAD INTERNAL TRANSMISSION REPAIRS AT 53,543 MILES. I FEEL LIKE THIS CAR POST A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE, GOING DOWN HILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. MID-WAY DOWN A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE COMPUTER SAYING "ENGINE FAILURE, POWER OFF" AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN WITH OUT WARNING. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED ON THE GAS THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WENT OUT AS WELL AND I HAD TO STAND IN THE SEAT TO USE ALL MY POWER TO TURN THE WHEEL. PREVIOUS TO THIS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD NOT BEEN ON, NO ADVANCE WARNING OF THIS. I HAD BOTH OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AT THE TIME. LUCKILY THERE WAS A BP GAS STATION WITH GARAGE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR INTO THE GAS STATION WHERE THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRED MY CAR AND RESET THE SENSORS. NINE MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING WITH BOTH OF MY CHILDREN AGAIN, IN NORTH EAST WASHINGTON DC WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE ENGINE ONE TIME. I TURNED AROUND TO GO HOME AND ON THE DRIVE HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON A LESS OF AN INCLINE OF A HILL. THE CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE HILL GOING DOWN. SAME AS BEFORE, NO GAS AND NO STEERING ABILITY. I WAS TOO SCARED TO LEAVE THE CAR ON THE SIDE AS CARS COMING OVER THE HILL WOULD NOT HAVE TIME TO STOP BEFORE HITTING US. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO GLIDE DOWN THE HILL TO THE SHELL STATION. THE CAR CUT OUT COMPLETELY AND LOST ALL MOMENTUM SO I HAD TO PUSH THE CAR INTO THE GAS STATION AND WAIT 3 HOURS FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. IT WENT BACK TO THE BP STATION FROM FEBRUARY AND HAD A NEW BATTERY AND SEVERAL OTHER ITEMS REPLACED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2007 AND HAVE HAD COUNTLESS BREAKDOWNS AND REPLACEMENTS- TWO TRANSMISSIONS WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS AND REPAIRS. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS THE WATER PUMP, REPLACED IT AND 2 MONTHS LATER OUT WENT THE POWER STEERING PUMP. AT THAT TIME OF REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP THE DEALERSHIP ALSO REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION AND TIMING CHAIN. NOW, IT'S THE TRANSMISSION. GOING ROUNDS WITH GM TO GET THEM TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE IN ITS ENTIRETY. THIS VEHICLE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 63K MILES ON IT! THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE IN EVERY WHICH WAY. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 GMC ACADIA IN NOV. OF 2007. SINCE NEW IT HAS HAD A STEERING ISSUE THAT CAN NOT BE FIXED. THE RACK AND PINION HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE HAS BURNED UP NUMEROUS POWERSTEERING PUMPS. THE STEERING, WHILE IN A CURVE, WILL LOCK UP AND THEN RELEASE THROWING THE VEHICLE IN THE DIRECTION THE WHEEL IS TURNED. IT HAS THROWN THE VEHICLE INTO THE OTHER LANE OF ON COMING TRAFFIC AS WELL AS THROWING THE VEHICLE OF THE ROAD INTO A FENCE. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAS PICKED THE VEHICLE UP REPLACED THE STEERING PUMPS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT. The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power with the battery saver mode activated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic on two occasions, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the alternator and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired on both occasions; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the service air bag and transmission warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the battery. The vehicle had not yet been taken back to the mechanic or a local dealer for further diagnostic test or repair. DEALERS COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. PROBLEM BRIEFLY STOPPED, AND NOW IT HAS RETURNED AND IS FAR WORSE. WHILE DRIVING, IT SHAKES AND JERKS LIKE A NEW DRIVER LEARNING TO USE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SEVERAL TIMES THE TRUCK HAS SHUT OFF COMPLETELY ON HIGHWAYS WHILE CRUISING AT OR AROUND 70MPH OR ACCELERATING TO PASS SOMEONE, NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE TO PHIL MOORE BUICK GMC ON 10/16/2014 AND PAYING $1341.10 FOR REPAIRS AFTER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATOR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ON 10/20/2014 AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SLOW FROM 60 MILES PER HOUR TO 20 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON10/21/2015, I WAS TOLD THERE WERE ADDITIONAL REPAIRS NEEDED ON THE ENGINE AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $2789.18. ON MONDAY, WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I DID NOT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. THEN ON THE WED OF THAT WEEK AS I WAS DRIVING IN A MAJOR CITY DOWNTOWN AREA FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON... I WAS AT A STOP TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE RPM'S REVVED. STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO 1 TO 2 MILES AN HOUR THEN SPEED UP ... DEALER SAID THAT THERE WERE "MANY PARTS IN THE PAN" AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. $3600 PLUS TAX OR HAVE IT REBUILT $3300 PLUS TAX. CALLED GM AFTER READING THE VARIOUS POST ON EDMUNDS ABOUT THE ACADIA PROBLEMS. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND OPENED A CLAIM BUT AS OF YET, NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. ON 1/25/13 OUR 2007 GMC ACADIA WAS TOWED TO THE SHOW FOR WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AS A TIMING CHAIN PREMATURE WARE AND WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THE MILEAGE ON THAT DATE WAS 52,788. IT IS OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REMOVED. ON MAY 18TH 2013 I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND DECELERATED DOWN TO 25 MPH WITH A HIGH RPM. AT THAT POINT I PULLED OVER. I NOTICED THE CAR HAD NO REVERSE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER. TODAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT. CURRENT MILEAGE 55,308. WAITING TO HEAR BACK ON EXACT ISSUE. AFTER READING ONLINE THIS IS A KNOW DESIGN FLAW AND HAS BEEN SINCE CORRECTED. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR GM'S DESIGN FLAWS. 3 MONTHS PAST THE 5 YEAR 100K WARRANTY WITH ONLY 55000 MILES ON THE CAR AND BOTH THE WATER PUMP AND TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. GM PAID FOR HALF OF THE COSTS STILL 1253.05 OUT OF POCKET WHEN IT SHOULD ALL HAVE BEEN COVERED. THIS IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE ACADIA AND GM KNOWS IT BUT REFUSES TO STEP UP. ONE NICE DAY DRIVING IN TOWN, I MUST HAVE RUN OVER A NAIL OR SOME OTHER SHARP ITEM. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, I HEARD A HISSING NOISE. I PULLED INTO A FLAT PARKING LOT TO INVESTIGATE - SUSPECTING I HAD A LEAKING FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BY THE WAY THE GMC ACADIA WAS DRIVING. I REMOVED THE JACK AND SPARE FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND ALSO THE MANUAL FROM THE GLOVE BOX. FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS NOT ONLY PRINTED ON THE JACK, IN THE MANUAL, BUT ALSO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE - I PLACED THE JACK, MADE SURE IT WAS STEADY, AND PROCEEDED TO JACK THE TRUCK UP. THE JACK COLLAPSED UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS SET. I TOOK EVERY SAFETY PRECAUTION ESPECIALLY BECAUSE MY SONS WERE WITH ME AND THEY ARE TEENAGERS (NEW DRIVERS) SO I WAS TRYING TO EMPHASIZE THE SAFETY ISSUES - LUCKY FOR ME !!!! THEY ARE THE ONES THAT YELLED THAT THE TRUCK WAS COMING DOWN. THE DESIGN OF THE JACK REQUIRES AT LEAST YOUR ARMS TO BE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE TO JACK IT UP WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, I DON'T EVER WORK UNDERNEATH A VEHICLE UNLESS THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE CAPABLE STANDING BY. THE ENTIRE JACK WAS BENT SIDEWAYS - UNUSABLE. MY OPINION IS THAT THE JACK POINTS ON THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK ARE CORRECT; HOWEVER, THE MATERIAL THAT THE JACKS ARE MADE FROM IS SUBPAR. ALTHOUGH THE DEALER REPLACED THE JACK FREE OF CHARGE -- I WON'T USE IT. I COULD HAVE LOST MY RIGHT ARM THE LAST TIME UNDER IDEAL CIRCUMSTANCES. FOR QUITE SOME TIME, THE FRONT RIGHT AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT SENSE THAT THERE IS A PASSENGER SITTING IN THE FRONT RIGHT SEAT. WE HAVE HAD THE SENSOR CHECKED REPEATEDLY AT THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM (SAYING EVERYTHING IS FINE). THE PASSENGERS TYPICALLY ARE OUR CHILDREN, BOTH OF WHOM ARE 5'9" TALL AND WEIGH 120 TO 125 POUNDS. WE USUALLY HAVE TO STOP THE CAR, TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON, AND THEN IT WORKS. THIS PAST WEEK, THE SENSOR WAS FLASHING, AND WE GOT A RELATED "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD. WE TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER, AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS A $1,000 REPAIR TO REPLACE THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SENSOR MODULE. THIS AFTER WE HAVE HAD THIS ITEM CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES (AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING WRONG WITH IT), AND, AFTER A FULL EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR (WHICH INCLUDED AIR BAGS) HAS EXPIRED. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR 2007 GMC ACADIAS FOR IMPROPER SENSORS, BUT OUR CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IN 'GOOGLING' THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET, WE SEE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON OFFICIAL CAR SITES LIKE EDMUNDS, STATING A SIMILAR PROBLEM FOR OTHER ACADIAS. WE BELIEVE THAT GMC HAS KNOWN THAT IT HAS HAD FAULTY SENSORS ON THEIR 2007 GMC ACADIA MODELS, BUT DID NOT MAKE THEIR 2007 RECALL COMPREHENSIVE ENOUGH. WE WOULD LIKE FOR THE NHTSB TO INVESTIGATE WITH GMC HOW MANY OTHER 2007 GMC ACADIAS HAVE BEEN SERVICED FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS. OUR CAR HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY VEHICLE CRASH OR ACCIDENT. *TR

MY FAMILY AND I WERE TRAVELING ON I-20 BACK FROM COLUMBIA IN MY 2007 GMC ACADIA. I NOTICED A WHINING NOISE, TIGHTEN IN THE STEERING, TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT WE NEED TO STOP FOR GAS AND CHECK THE FLUIDS. YIELDING AT THE NEXT EXIT I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I FINALLY WITH ALL MY STRENGTH TURN THE VEHICLE INTO A HESS GAS STATION. WE CHECK FLUIDS AND CALLED ONSTAR FOR A DIAGNOSTICS REPORT. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD US THAT THEY DID NOT SEE ANYTHING IN THE MAJOR PARTS BUT DID TRY TO CALL A GM DEALERSHIP (KING CADILLAC). KING WAS NOT OPEN AND WOULD SCHEDULE AN APPT ON MONDAY. MY HUSBAND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH WE LEFT FOR EARLY DROP OFF. RECEIVED A CALL FROM TECHNICAL ON MONDAY PM, WHICH STATED IT WAS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. ASKED HIM ABOUT IF THERE WAS ANY COMPLAINT OR RECALLS ON THE PUMP BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACE BACK AT 14,000 MILES. THIS WOULD BE THE 3RD PUMP THAT HAS BEEN PUT ON THIS CAR. WINDOWS CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED BY DRIVERS MASTER BUTTONS. VEHICLE HAS 173000 MILES ON IT. PURCHASED USED FROM BUCKEYE NISSAN. NOTICED ISSUES RIGHT AWAY BUT THEIR MECHANIC SAID THERE IS NOTHING COMING UP WHEN THEY HOOK UP THE DIAGNOSTICS. NO WARRANTY WHEN PURCHASED USED, THIS IS MY FIRST VEHICLE PURCHASE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR THEN GOT THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITRACK READING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 MPH. STILL PAYING PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE, I COULD NOT AFFORD TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC SO I PURCHASED A CHEAP CAR FROM A FRIEND AND THE ACADIA SAT IN MY DRIVE WAY FOR 2 YEARS. AFTER I PAID IT OFF I STARTED TO LOOK INTO REPAIRING IT. I PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT AFTER IT SAT FOR SO LONG AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND DROVE LIKE THERE WAS NEVER AN ISSUE. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER. STILL GET ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF AND SERVICE STABILITRACK READING BUT HAS NOT HAD IT SLOW DOWN TO 5 MPH AGAIN. NOW IF I DRIVE IN THE RAIN THE POWER STEERING CUTS IN AND OUT AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL REVIEWS ON THIS VEHICLE THAT SAY THE SAME AS MINE. THE WORST PART IS THAT GM IS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES BUT WILL NOT ASSIST IN REPAIR IF THE VEHICLE HAS OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES ON IT.

I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 6 YEARS AND I HAVE TAKEN IN TO A DEALERSHIP ONCE AND THEY QUOTED ME CLOSE TO $500 TO DO A TEST AND LET WATER RAIN ON THE CAR AND SEE IF IT IS A MANUFACTURE OR OWNER FAULTY ISSUE. I DID NOT JUMP ON TOP OF MY CAR AND CREATE A PROBLEM SO THAT MY CAR GETS FLOODED OR TO CAUSE THIS THAT I HAVE TO ALWAYS PLACE A TOWEL AND LEAVE MY WINDOWS OPEN AFTER SO THAT IT DOES NOT FOG THE ENTIRE CAR. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN AND DROPLETS HAVE FALLEN ON MY 7 MONTH OLD BABY WHILE I'M DRIVING. NO ONE CAN SIT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TWO MONTHS AGO. ON THE FIRST DAY, THE VEHICLE HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING INDICATOR APPEARED. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND SPUTTER WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER AND ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO IDLE FOR A WHILE. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAS 86K MILES AND THE RACK AND PINION IS LEAKING HEAVILY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. SOMETIMES, THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS IMPOSES SERIOUS RISK WHILE DRIVING AND THE PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. THERE IS NO REPEATABLE SCENARIO TO DEMONSTRATE THE FAILURE. IT IS RANDOM. THE FRONT ENGINE COVER ALSO LEAKS OIL HEAVILY. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS COULD RESULT IN RAPID ENGINE OIL LOSS AND ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER YESTERDAY FOR INSPECTION. UNFORTUNATELY NO PICTURES WERE TAKEN, BUT THEIR TWO TECHNICIANS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND AGREED ON THE KNOWN ISSUES. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO AGREED ON THE KNOWN ISSUES. I INQUIRED ABOUT GM HELPING WITH THESE KNOWN ISSUES, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THEIR DISTRICT AFTERSALES MANAGER WAS NOT KIND OR HELPFUL AND WOULD REVERT TO GENERAL MOTOR'S ONLINE GOODWILL CALCULATOR. HE ACCESSED THE ONLINE SYSTEM WHICH DETERMINED MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND/OR COVERAGE AND THAT THERE WAS NO GOODWILL AVAILABLE TO USE FOR MY VEHICLE. WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR GOODWILL, BUT RATHER FOR GM TO REPAIR THESE HIGH RISK PRODUCT FAILURES. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE WHINE IN THE STEERING. I ASKED THE SALESMAN AND HE SAID THAT NOISE WAS TYPICAL WITH ACADIA'S AND THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE CAR. WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT A DIFFERENT DEALER RIGHT BEFORE WE LEFT ON VACATION, I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS GOING OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. DID THAT EVEN THOUGH WE WERE DELAYED GOING ON VACATION AND SUBSEQUENTLY HAD IT REPLACED TWO MORE TIMES AS WELL. ALSO HAVE HAD LEAKS IN THE SUNROOF THAT CONTINUE TO RETURN, AND HAVE NOW MESSED UP MY POWER WINDOW CONTROLS TO THE POINT THAT I CAN NOT CONTROL ANY OF THE OTHER WINDOWS FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT. I AM ON ACTIVE DUTY AN ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY MEMBER. WHILE ATTENDING A MILITARY SCHOOL, I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 GMC ACADIA FROM A GMC DEALERSHIP NEARBY. AFTER THE COURSE, I SERVED A YEAR AT A MILITARY STATION IN ANOTHER STATE, WHILE THERE, MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED TWICE FOR RECALLS BY A GMC SERVICE CENTER NEARBY. ONE OF THE RECALLS WAS TO FIX A DEFECT IN THE SUN ROOF THAT WAS CAUSING WATER LEAKS. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED IN 09 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY JUST BEFORE SHIPPING FOR A 2 YEAR OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENT. AT THAT TIME, I IDENTIFIED SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES. SOON AFTER MY ARRIVAL TO MY OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENT, MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUES DEVELOPED ALONG WITH MYSTERY WATER LEAKS THAT WERE SATURATING THE CARPET AND CAUSING MOLD TO GROW INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO GM SERVICE CENTER IN THAT COUNTRY SO I HAD TO LIVE WITH THE LEAKS AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT A YEAR, I HAD A MINOR ACCIDENT WHERE MY TIRE HIT A GUARD RAIL DOING ABOUT 10 MPH. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED BUT THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT I QUIT USING THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS DIDN'T WORK, THE AC AND HEATER DIDN'T WORK, THE LEFT BLINKER DIDN'T WORK, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF WITH THE KEY, THE BATTERY BOX BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT KEPT FLOODING WITH WATER AND I HAD TO DISCONNECT A BATTERY CABLE EVERY TIME I PARKED THE CAR TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DYING. MY 2007 GMC ACADIA HAS ALWAYS HAD VERY POOR TRACTION ON WET ROADS AND SOMETIMES ON DRY ROADS. YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN HEAVY RAIN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY JERKED TO THE RIGHT AS THOUGH MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD RUN OVER A LARGE OBJECT. A FEW MINUTES LATER IT JERKED RIGHT THEN LEFT THEN RIGHT AGAIN. EACH TIME THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK FOR AN INSTANT. I FOUND MYSELF PARTLY OVER IN THE OTHER LANE. A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. PREVIOUS ISSUES: CAR LEAKS AT THE SUNROOF. NOT FIXED YET LUMBAR SUPPORT BROKEN - SOMEWHAT FIXED BUT STILL NOT LIKE THE NEW ONES ON THE LOT. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE 8 WAY SEAT MOVES FORWARD AND BACK UNDER HARD BRAKING AND ACCELERATION. THE MOVEMENT IS MORE THAN AN HALF INCH. THE DEALER SAID THE MANUFACTURE KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS CAR WITH SEAT THE MOVING AROUND. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SEAT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR A PERSON OVER 5'10 AND 250 LBS IF A CRASH OCCURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SEAT RAILINGS WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY FOR A PERSON OF THE CONTACT'S STATURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SAFETY ISSUES BECAUSE THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 5,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,600.
