Safety recall that has not been addressed by the dealership in over 4 months

I have a recall on this vehicle that GMC has failed to provide me parts/repair and this recall will be 3 years old in June. I have emailed the local dealer, the manager of the local dealer, GM corporate, and no one has followed through. The best I came to getting the repair was that Corporate made sure I had an appointment and dealer had my part, I went to that appt at my local dealer in Jan 2025 (Premiere GMC of Carlsbad, CA) and waited 2 hours with cars ahead of me (even thought I had an appt) only to be told the part was not there, they would order it and get back to me. Happy to [provide proof of emailing local dealer, GM Corporate etc. with no resolution. I cannot sell my vehicle without this repair done. And I continue to drive daily in an unsafe car.

While operating my vehicle, the power steering suddenly failed without adequate warning. The steering became extremely difficult, creating a significant safety hazard for myself, my passengers, and other drivers on the road. A sudden loss of steering assist increases the risk of collision, especially at lower speeds, during turns, or in emergency maneuvers.

The recall is with the steering wheel air bag. If it goes off then the driver could possibly get injured or killed from metal fragments according to the recall letter that I received. The letter is dated June 10, 2023. If they can't come up with a fix then they should supply me with a vehicle that is safe. Seven months is way too long.

The torque converter has been going since before I bought this vehicle. When the RPMs are between one and two, the entire vehicle starts shaking and there is no acceleration. This is a huge safety concern, especially with traffic.

I was driving about 30mph and accelerated to pass a truck and the transmission failed and the car lost any ability to accelerate and I had to coast to the side of the highway and have the car towed to the dealer. The dealer stated the transmission would need to be replaced and it would be $9000. Mileage is 77,013. This is the third time the transmission has malfunctioned and caused the car to lose power on the highway. It has been repaired twice previously.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REVERSE OR GO FORWARD IN EITHER GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SANDOVAL BUICK GMC (300 N HAMILTON RD, WHITEHALL, OH 43213) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

The shift to park. It does not want to stay in park. I feel that if it does not stay in park, the vehicle could roll forward or backwards. Yes, it was looked at by an independent service center, and they thought it was on a recall. This is a 2016 GMC Arcadia and the 2017 model and newer have this problem and were on recall. No one else has looked at it. I do not drive the vehicle that often, so it does not have many miles on it. I took it out a few weeks ago and I noticed it.

Concern: Engine Missfire. Cause: Low compression on #1 cylinder. Remove head and found burnt exhaust valve. Safety: My family was put in harm because due to faulty parts we could have started a fire if we would have continued to drive the vehicle, according to GMC dealership in Ashtabula. Fixed: We got all parts fixed by Chevrolet dealer in Archbold. They confirmed issues presented in Ashtabula and fixed the problem. There was no cause to the issues, only faulty parts. Warning lights: Check Engine light turned on and Check Stablitrak came on during the issue.

Multiple AC system failures - Rear evaporator core failed in summer 2020. Had the unit replaced at a the dealership. Nine months later the front evaporator core failed. From discussion with numerous mechanics these parts should not be failing. Vehicle has less than 40k miles on it and I am the original owner.

WITH ONLY 49000 MILES ON MY 2016 GMC ACADIA, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO REPLACE MY GAS PEDAL...I HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES AND NEVER ONCE HAD I HAVE REPLACE MY GAS PEDAL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE ADVISER IF NOT REPLACED IT MAY CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT ME PRESSING ON THE PEDAL.

AC WAS BLOWING HOT AT LESS THAN 42K MILES. IT HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE WHEN I PUSHED THE AC BUTTON IT WOULD JUST BLINK, LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF AND IT WOULD BLOW HOT AIR. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF A LEAK OR ANYTHING WRONG BEFORE THIS POINT. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THE ISSUE TO BE 'LEAK COMBINATION MANIFOLD LINE RUBBING AGAINST R/F BODY BEAM'. IT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE A/C COMBINATION MANIFOLD IN ADDITION TO EVACUATING AND CHARGING THE AC COMBINATION LINES AND IT COST ALMOST $900 FOR THIS REPAIR. I SHOULD HAVE LEAKING AC HOSES OR RUBBING AGAINST THE MANIFOLD WITH MILEAGE THIS LOW.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2016 GMC Acadia on February 28, 2026. After purchasing the vehicle, the contact obtained a Carfax report and discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was purchased at an auction. The dealer agreed to refund a portion of the cost of the vehicle. The contact attempted several times to contact the dealer afterwards but was unsuccessful. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 92,400, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 192,000.

SERVICE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM WARNING STARTED ALERTING ME A FEW WEEKS BACK. THIS NOW IS THE SECOND TIME THAT IT HAS AFFECTED ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN MY CAR. SENDING ME RANDOM ERROR MESSAGES AND AFFECTING THE CAR FROM OPERATING IN A SAFE CONDITION. CAR WOULD NOT START FOR 40 MIN. ONCE I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED, NONE OF THE GAUGES WORKED AND TURN SIGNALS WERE NOT GOING OFF IN THE CAR. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO HOME, BUT THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF I WAS FAR FROM HOME. CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION AS I STARTED TO NOTICE ISSUES AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOTICED AS I WAS PULLING UP TO A STOP AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND STARTED TO GET TRACTION NOTICES FROM THE SYSTEM IN THE CAR.

In March of 2022 the vehicle displayed a warning to service the side detection system. on March 31st 2022 the dealership diagnosed that the Side Blind Zone Alert Module failed due to water intrusion. The replacement of the modular was completed free of charge under "Campaign - N172097060 Special Coverage Adjustment". In December of 2024 the same warning to service the side detection system was activated again, several weeks later the warning lights on the side view mirrors lite up and remained on. Upon bringing the vehicle on February 13th 2025 for service, in it was determined to be caused by the same failed part as the first occurrence. This time the repair was not covered by the dealer, and was 1099.22. GMC has not solved the underlining problem with these parts. The side detection system is critical when driving a larger SUV for blind zone awareness to avoid collisions while driving in multi lane traffic. When the system failed, the lights on the side view mirrors made driving difficult due to the distraction and glare. Although this problem is known by the manufacture it has provided a permanent solution, as they continue to use the flawed original parts. Due to the sensor being electrical, there was no symptoms prior to failure; the warning appears and continued at each start up. The cost of repairing safety features on an ageing vehicle becomes a burden, especially when those features can only be repaired by a dealership at high prices. This keeps many people from maintaining or fixing their cars, putting others at risk. I have the modular from the most recent repair, and will include a photo if possible.

this is a follow up to my last report. My dealer service dept told me my "side detection modules" blew a fuse. When the fuse blew it should have turned them off. It didn't. The modules stayed on 24/7 until all my electrical components went haywire and burned my battery out. After spending $250 on a new battery, I had issues again with the alerts coming on my DIC. After extensive tracing of the electrical issue by my local GMC dealer, he told me the side detection modules staying on 24/7 caused not only my battery to burn out but caused the wires to burn to the rear electrical harness. He stated this is a defect with the modules and this could have caused a fire right under where my three children sit! I now have to wait indefinitely to get the modules that my service dealer ordered because so many people are having this same issue that they are on back order FOREVER! So my service dealer had to turn off the modules after he replaced the fused wires and wire harness and I have to drive with that alert on 24/7. This is a disgrace to GMC that this is a recall for other Acadia years but not my 2016 model! Other GMC Acadia owners need to be alerted to this potential SERIOUS fire hazard!

I received an error stating “service side detection system” first. Then I started having issues with every error code coming up, side air bag, the side detection lights staying on at all times while engine is on, and I lost my radio entirely. Without my radio I have back up camera! A dealership told me my wire harness is defective, either a frayed wire, corroded wire, and that it is blowing all my fuses. This is before they have completed my service, at my expense. The electrical system runs my car!! Side detection system issues are a SAFETY ISSUE!! It seems this is not the first GMC has heard of this but their response is nothing! How can this safety issue be allowed to continue with GMC not taking steps to fix it in a recall?

I HAVE A 2016 GMC ACADIA DENALI THAT HAS A "SERVICE SIDE DETECTION" ERROR ON THE DIC. CALLED IN THE GMC AND THERE IS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #N172097060 ON THIS ISSUE. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE VALID FOR 6 YEARS / 80,000 MILES. MY ACADIA HAS 41,000 ON IT. WHEN GMC ENTERED MY VIN, IT DOESN'T SHOW UP AS BEING COVERED?? HOW CAN SOME BE COVERED AND SOME NOT IF THEY ALL SEEM TO HAVE THIS ISSUE?

While driving my 2016 GMC Acadia Denali home from work I noticed my speed getting faster so I let off my gas pedal. My engine then abruptly revved to the highest rpm and accelerated ON ITS OWN. My speed increased to almost 100 mph and I am going up a steep incline. I did not have my foot on the pedal and this car accelerated on its own and was only going faster and faster. I tried to brake but it would not slow my car down. I am in rush hour traffic and I feel like this is where I am going to die today. I continued to slam on my brakes to a point that I felt the brakes grinding but ultimately was able to slow the car down enough to get to the side of the road. However, I am unable to fully stop my car. After I was able to slow it down to a slow crawl (even with the engine rpms revving extremely high still), I was fumbling for my phone to call my husband and inadvertently took my foot off the brake and the engine jerked me again and caused my car to take off again with such force my whole body hit my seat back. I then slammed the brakes again and pushed the gear into park with such force to automatically stop the car, which was hard to do because the car was still moving. Once the car was in park, the engine continued to rev at the highest speed and I then turned my car off. I was such an emotional wreck after this I got out of my car and refused to get back in it to this day. This vehicle is possessed. I looked up this same issue with other GMC Acadias and found it has happened to others yet AGAIN GMC does not recall these vehicles. This is the second serious issue I have had with this vehicle and I want GMC to take my car back and I will NEVER own another GMC!

The contact stated that the seat belt buckle failed to latch as intended. An unknown dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 206,000.

This complaint is not just about this particular vehicle. It's about all vehicles. Seat belts only have one latch. If that latch is damaged in an accident you are trapped. Over 60% of the people killed in auto accidents were not wearing a seatbelt. Why? Because of the fear of being trapped. All first responders carry a seat belt cutter. There are a lot of seat belt cutters on the market today. That proves to me that a seat belt will trap you in a vehicle in its present design. In an accident the seat belt shoulder portion will tighten down. Under pressure, it will not release until you back off the pressure. Under certain circumstances you may not be able to back off the pressure which causes difficulty to release the belt. I have designed, manufactured, and installed a prototype of belt release in my vehicle. I call it my Designated Emergency Seatbelt Hinge. I have also filed for, and received a patent for my design. I believe all vehicles should have an D E S H installed. I don't understand why seat belts only have one release point.

THE VEHICLE MAKES A CLUNK NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE BRAKES OR ABS. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TAKING OFF I HEAR THE CLUNK AND FEEL IT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY AND EVERY TIME YOU TAKE OF AFTER STARTING THE CAR. THE GM DEALER TOLD ME THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE/CONDITION THEY ARE AWARE OF BUT IT'S NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. THEY ISSUED A BULLETIN ON THIS CONDITION BUT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING A CAR THAT MAKES THAT NOISE EVERY TIME AFTER TAKING OFF IN THE ABS SYSTEM. THE CODE THEY GAVE ME IS PI1402A

I AM WRITING THIS LETTER TO INFORM YOU OF AN INCIDENT WHICH OCCURRED ON SUNDAY JUNE 4, 2017 WHILE DRIVING MY GMC ACADIA. I WORK IN REAL ESTATE SALES AND AFTER SHOWING HOME SITES TO A POTENTIAL BUYER I RETURNED TO MY MODEL PARKING LOT. I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PARKING THE CAR WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN REVVING. I WAS ONLY A FEW FEET AWAY FROM THE PARKING BLOCK AND I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CAR KEPT REVVING AND JERKED FORWARD WITH SO MUCH FORCE THAT I WENT OVER THE PARKING BLOCK, THROUGH THE BUSHES AND THROUGH THE PVC FENCE. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME AND KEPT TRYING TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AFTER A FEW FEET BEYOND THE FENCE THE CAR FINALLY WENT INTO PARK AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. I AM COMPLETELY GRATEFUL THAT NO PEDESTRIANS WERE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE. AS I AM SURE YOU CAN IMAGINE I WAS TERRIFIED TO GET BACK INTO THE CAR. I CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HAD HIM BRING ME THE OTHER CAR SO I CAN FINISH OUT MY WORK DAY. THE ACADIA IS OUR FAMILY CAR AND THE CAR THAT TRANSPORTS OUR FOUR CHILDREN. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR INTO FERMAN DEALERSHIP, THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WE LEASED THE CAR FROM, AND THEY BLEW HIM OFF SAYING THAT I PROBABLY GOT CONFUSED BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND THE THROTTLE. I AM 41 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING SINCE I WAS 16 AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I DID NOT GET CONFUSED AND I FIND IT COMPLETELY INSULTING THAT THEY EVEN SAID THAT. IT DOES NOT SEEM THAT WE HAVE ANY LEGAL RECOURSE FOR BEING ABLE TO TERMINATE OUR LEASE DUE TO THIS, WHICH IS WHAT WE WOULD WANT. I WANT THIS INCIDENT REPORTED IN WRITING SHOULD GOD FORBID IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND THERE IS MORE DAMAGE THAN JUST TWO FENCE PANELS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE DEALER TO SEND THE VEHICLE HOME, IF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,036.

unknowingly what the actual issue is in This 2016 gmc has major safety risk in Electrical major different problems it has caused me safety issue with little one in the car and my family not knowing the issue with not understating it is a safety risk it has shut off 20 times restarting the radio for no reasoning also it sounds like the powertrain is going to stop working unless u put in L shift which i think that is nuts i was on the highway and it just stopped with the key locked in it like what actually f is going on this SUV has had problems since day one

On about 01/20/2025 my transmission? Auto started to shudder before going into 3rd gear threw 5th. Once in 6th gear at about 55 the auto starts to shudder and turns into a rumble feeling. My auto only has 100650 for miles on it. It has been serviced and have brought it to GM 01/24/25 to ask about it? After talking to service adviser. It would cost me 75.00 for someone to go with me to confirm it is doing it. Then make an appointment for further evaluation. No price given at this time. but did not on paper! Say That it is most likely torque converter causing the problem? Confirmed It is not under warranty and there was nothing GM could do.i have been to at least 3 other shops in my area and they all say the same thing and price. Which is between 6 to 7 thousand dollars to replace the transmission. They all dosay that when it goes it could make me loose control Due to lockup.

This is a complaint update#498946. I made all the necessary repairs outlined and detailed on the diagnostic report issued by the dealership. I picked my vehicle up on Thursday evening. I got up at 6:00 on Friday March 18th and noticed my OnStar diagnostic report had come through at 12:00 am and stated there was a problem with my emissions/transmission. I immediately at 8:30 called GMC manufacturing and they told me to take the vehicle back and GMC manufacturing made me a 1:00 appointment for the same say while I was on the phone. I had to be at work at 12 noon so my husband took it there and came back and told me that my transmission was bad. The dealership offered to but my vehicle back fir $18,500 or pay for the repairs myself $3.909. I asked for assistance since this was the initial problem I took it in for and it has network weeks and I haven’t heard anything. This month is my 2 year anniversary of owning it. I informed the dealership about the Special Warranty coverage and they stated that this was not covered but I explained to them that the coverage is limited to 150,000 miles and that my vehicle only has 120,000 miles on it so I am confused and seeking clarification and explanation from a higher source and no one has contacted in 2 weeks.

I was driving and all of a sudden my drivers seat started to move foward and down and then eventually reclined fully back and then stopped. Now my seat is permanently reclined. The contact owns a 2016 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the driver’s side seat control panel had detached from the seat without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to a dealer where the seat panel was replaced out of pocket. Recently, the contact discovered that the same panel was fractured for the second time. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact made another appointment with the same dealer for the same failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The only report was to the dealership and the repair shop. Possible high oil consumption. The warning was last minute, barely had time to react.

AIR CONDITIONING HOSE RUBBED/MELTED FROM BEING TOO CLOSE TO THE ENGINE FRAME. HAD IT REPLACED IN 2019 BY DEALERSHIP. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN IN 2021 AND DEALERSHIP SAYS THE BRACKET FOR THE ENGINE NEEDS TIGHTENED SO IT DOESN’T KEEP OCCURRING. IT WILL COST OVER $2000 TO GET THIS FIXED AGAIN. AIR BLOWS HOT AIR IN REAR AND PASSENGER SIDE AC VENTS AND DRIVER SIDE IS GETTING WARMER AS WELL. AIR DOESN’T NOT BLOW COLD WHEN STATIONARY OR WHILE DRIVING.

THE CHROME TRIM AROUND THE VENTS ABOVE THE CENTER NAVIGATION SCREEN DISPLAY ARE MADE OF A MIRROR FINISH CHROME UNLIKE THE MATTE TRIM THAT SURROUNDS THE NAVIGATION SCREEN. WHEN ONE IS DRIVING AND THE SUN IS APPROXIMATELY DIRECTLY OVERHEAD, THE SUN REFLECTS OFF THE CHROME TRIM AND DUE TO THE ANGLE OF THE TRIM, IS REFLECTS DIRECTLY INTO THE DRIVER'S EYES. AS ONE CANNOT REALLY CHANGE ANYTHING WHILE DRIVING DURING THIS PERIOD TO BLOCK THE REFLECTION THE DRIVER IS CONSTANTLY BEEN DISTRACTED WITH THE SUN REFLECTION OF THE MIRROR LIKE TRIM THAT IS SHINNING IN THE DRIVER'S EYES.

MY WIFES VEHICLE WHICH IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE HAS HAD SEVERAL REOCCURRING ISSUES. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM AS IT IS STILL ON GOING. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT IS EXTREMELY SCARY. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL ALERT THAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO HAVE A COLLISION BUT THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF YOU JUST A VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF YOU AND WILL BREAK ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE ALSO HAD SERVICE STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH WHILE DRIVING. JUST 2 WEEKS AGO I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT SAID SERVICE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM AND WOULD NOT START UNTIL I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES TO RECONNECT THE BATTERY AND RE-START THE VEHICLE. WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO SHEEHAN GMC IN LIGHTHOUSE POINT FLORIDA 4 TIMES FOR THESE SPECIFIC ISSUES AND RECEIVED NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE A 2016 GMC ACADIA. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES, AND WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME. THE FACTORY TIRES, GOODYEAR FORTERA HL EDITION, ARE EXHIBITING SIGNIFICANT CRACKING BETWEEN THE TREADS ALL AROUND EACH TIRE. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, HAVE EVEN TREAD WEAR, AND ADEQUATE TREAD DEPTH. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN 2015, BUT I WAS ADVISED BY GOODYEAR THAT MY MODEL YEAR IS NOT INCLUDED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S TIRE HAD A 1/2 INCH CRACK, THE REAR PASSENGER'S TIRE HAD A 2 INCH CRACK IN THE TREAD, AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE HAD TWO 1/2 INCH CRACKS IN THE TREAD. Hello. I got a recall and fixed in July 2021 for Blind Spot Sensors/Modules on my 2016 GMC Acadia SLT. Now 3.5 years later Im having the same issue with these sensors that are located in the rear bumper of the car, they get water damage, corrosion, and then fail. A very poor design. And seems like the recall didn't fixed the issue either. This must to be a common issue for this car, lots of complaints online even after the recall. And the car dealership wont cover it because it was already fixed at that time and my warranty on my car expired not to long ago. They said it would be about 2000 to fix. I feel like this prematurely failed and it was recalled once for the same issue but now failed again is crazy after 3.5 years. This shouldn't be a on going thing especially after a recall. I shouldn't have to pay for this outta my own pocket for a flawed design and would like my repairs for this to be covered again. Please help. Attached is a invoice from July of 2021 recall that was repaired. I only got a verbal estimate from the dealership (text messages) which I do have. saying that it would be a 2000 fix this time. I didn't go through with it because I feel like it should be covered. Attached pictures of sensor/module in rear bumper that is corroded. Lights on both side mirrors will come on and stay on. Won't shut off. Messages on dash saying "Service Side Dectection System". Blind zone setting won't shut off.

I have replaced everything it could be and still does it. Now i believe its a bigger problem and there is alot of ppl having the same issues. I dont remember the exact date either. This issues is regarding the front of the canopy. The base of the canopy clip, where it attaches to the car seat nearest the handle, has broken off pieces. These pieces have flow into the car seat where my child sits. It I had not noticed this happening, my child could have tried to put that piece in their mouth and choked or because for the sharp edges on the splintered piece, cause more serious damage. This breakage is on both end of the canopy clip. In addition, the piece that the clip is supposed to attach to has become warped from repeated use.

A few years ago I was driving home and both headlights of our GMC Acadia went out at the same time. I drove home, in the country, in total darkness. We had them replaced by the garage, which was very, very expensive due to extreme difficulty accessing the headlights for this model. Since then, we have had to replace them two more times which we did ourselves due to the cost. We have owned this car since it's been brand new and have always had issues with seeing in the dark. For the last several years, we have had teen drivers driving this car. My son is worried so we recently we had it in the shop to adjust the headlights. They actually made them worse, which we didn't think could happen. They said they had their best mechanic on it but because they were doing it during their office hours, all daylight they never could see it at night. We had to get it readjusted back to where it was just to see again but back to still no good. I started researching to see if others are having similar problems and it does look like there are many complaints about loose wires in the headlights & fuse box, or maybe something related to the computer? Some other years may have had a recall for this same problem. I really hope someone like you could investigate this. My husband is a retired state trooper and ready to get rid of this beautiful car just because the headlights!! We live in the country and our son is worried he will get in an accident or hit someone walking down the road at night because he can't see. A mother and son shouldn't have to stress about headlights/seeing at night/crashes when we have a nice car!! How do both headlights need replaced 3 times on the same car?? We are trying to see if they make LED lights for this model but were told no. Any advice to have GMC help us with this before something happens? I would feel terrible if we could prevent something but just selling it and passing the problem on doesn't seem the answer to me. Thank you

The check engine light has come on multiple times in the past 6 months. I have taken it 3 times to be repaired and finally the found out what was wrong. The first time that I brought it in, May 2023, the Bank 1 Lean Code was coming up on the diagnostic. They replaced a sensor for $300. 2 weeks later the check engine light came on again. They got the same codes and didn't know what exactly was causing it so they fixed a bunch of things which cost me $2,200. 3 months later, the check engine light came back on again. This time they're telling me the repairs cost $3,725 and it's related to this bulletin [XXX] ). This seems like a safety hazard that I should not have to pay for. My car only has 58,000 miles. I already paid $2,500 in misdiagnosed problems and now they want me to pay another $3,725. I don't have my bills to upload because they're in my glove box and my car is with the dealership. Special Coverage Adjustment N172097060 Side Blind Zone Alert Module Water Intrusion was issued for my vehicle. I took it in to get fixed and was told I was past the 6 year extension (May 2022) but under the milage (79,199). They told me the parts are on back order from GMC. This was on 04-03-2023. On 04-05-2023 I was driving my vehicle and the instrument cluster went partially blank. I lost my speedometer , tachometer and most of the other gauges. I had numerous warning lights on. The blinkers stopped working and I had no control of any environmental controls or radio functions. I pulled off the side of the road and shut the vehicle off. I tried to restart it, it started but even more things began to fail electrically. I shut if off again, tried another restart and now it would not start. I tried multiple times and could not get it to start. With the car off and the key out of the ignition, the heater control panel would stay on and the fan was running. I tried a few more times and finally got it to run but still had no instrumentation. I was less than a mile from home and tried to make it back. While driving I had no electrical control of anything and no way to determine my speed. I made it back, but now my vehicle will not start at all. With the key out it still runs the heater controls and fan. This is a dangerous situation not being able to control your vehicle electrical systems and being able to start your vehicle. This needs to be a recall, NOT a manufacture " Special coverage adjustment" that they know is a known issue and dont even have to parts to fix it.

Recently the "Service Side Detection System" light came on. Now the blind side monitoring doesn't work. While driving all of lights on the dash, radio, and headlights turned off. Passenger side carpeting and foam are soaked from a leakage somewhere. The fuse panel under glove box is soaked and not working correctly. Water is almost making its way into battery under passenger side rear floor. Rust has formed under the shifting console. Car is moldy. No one can tell me what is happening but thousands of complaints online regarding GMC Acadia all have this problem. My vehicle is useless 20,000 in the driveway and cannot drive. Not to mention me and my kids have been driving in mold for who knows how long. GMC needs to fix this issue before they have a class action lawsuit on their hands.

My care received error code stating service side detection system. Took it to a dealer who, after thoroughly checking my entire electrical system told me the fuse to my side detection modules blew and caused those defective modules to then create a continuous back-feeding of power to the rear wire harness causing a complete depletion of my battery, but also caused the wires to completely melt to the wire harness, which in turn rendered my radio useless and caused several other electrical error codes to come up on my DIC. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE! GM knows this is an ongoing issue because there are ZERO modules to date to replace my defective modules. NONE! From what I read from other blogs, a lot of other GMC owners are having the same issues, YET GMC does not feel this is worth a recall! It could be weeks to months to receive the replacement modules and I tend to feel they will still be sub par. I WILL NEVER BUY A GM VEHICLE AGAIN AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE IF THEY VALUE THEIR FAMILIES LIVES AND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY!

ON SATURDAY (8/31/2019), I NOTICED THAT THE AC IN MY 2016 ACADIA (ABOUT 79,000 MILES) WOULDN'T TURN ON. MY VEHICLE HAS TWO EVAPORATORS, ONE IN THE FRONT FOR THE FRONT AC, AND ONE IN THE REAR FOR THE REAR AC. THEY ARE CONNECTED BY AN ALUMINUM TUBE (GM PART #23199274). WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE GMC DEALER, THEY SHOWED ME THAT A CONNECTOR ON THE POWER STEERING FLUID (PSF) LINE, WHICH RUNS BESIDE THIS ALUMINUM TUBE (SEE PHOTO 1), HAD RUBBED UP AGAINST THE ALUMINUM AND WORN A HOLE IN IT, ALLOWING ALL THE REFRIGERANT TO LEAK OUT (PHOTO 2). THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A LITTLE RUBBER PIECE THAT FITS OVER AND PROTECTS THE COOLANT LINE (YOU CAN SORT-OF SEE IT IN THE PICTURES), BUT THAT PIECE IS SMALL AND SLIDES DOWN, EXPOSING THE ALUMINUM TUBE. THE TECHNICIAN THEN TOLD/SHOWED ME HOW HE USUALLY BENDS OR MOVES THE PSF LINE SO THAT IT DOESN'T RUB AGAINST THE ALUMINUM COOLANT TUBE. THIS INDICATES THAT GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS DONE NOTHING IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX IT, EVEN THOUGH THIS INHERENT DESIGN FLAW ALLOWS THE ENTIRE COOLANT CHARGE TO LEAK INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, SINCE REFRIGERANT IS NOT EXACTLY ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY, I FIND IT CONCERNING THAT GM IS APPARENTLY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HASN'T TAKEN THE NECESSARY STEPS (LIKE A VOLUNTARY RECALL) TO FIX IT. I CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND MADE THEM AWARE OF THE SITUATION, AND THEY SAID "THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO." I'M HOPING THIS COMPLAINT FORCES THEM TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND STOP LEAKING FULL REFRIGERANT CHARGES INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. NOTE THAT THIS WOULD ALSO BE AN ISSUE IF THE SITUATION WERE REVERSED AND IT WAS THE AC COOLANT TUBE THAT CHAFED THROUGH THE PSF HOSE. IF THE PSF CONNECTOR WAS EVEN 1 CM OFF, THEN HYPOTHETICALLY THE COOLANT TUBE COULD RUB THROUGH THE PSF HOSE AND CAUSE A FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. IT IS ALSO DESIRABLE TO AVOID THIS AS WELL, FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.

THE CAR WAS PARKED AND OFF WHEN THE LIFT GATE MALFUNCTIONED. OPENED THE LIFTGATE USING THE BUTTON ON THE GATE, IT OPENED FULLY PAUSED OPEN, THEN SUDDENLY DROPPED 1/3 OF THE WAY CLOSED ON TOP OF MY HUSBAND, IT OPENED AGAIN AND THEN CLOSED QUICKLY ON IT'S OWN. IT REPEATED THE SAME ACTION AGAIN WHEN WE TRIED OPENING. AFTER WE TURNED OFF THE POWER LIFTGATE USING THE BUTTON IN THE DASH WE COULD OPEN THE LIFE HOWEVER WE HAD TO HOLD THE GATE UP, IT WOULD SLAM DOWN IF WE LET GO OF THE GATE. I HAVE A CONCERN WITH ALL 4 OF MY TIRES ON MY 2016 GMC ACADIA. THESE TIRES WERE MANUFACTURED ON THE 10TH WEEK OF 2016. I PURCHASED MY TRUCK 4/12/2016. I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO GOOD YEAR SERVICE STATION AND GMC AS INSTRUCTED BY GM TO NO AVAIL. THEY ARE SAYING THAT THIS IS WEAR AN TEAR. ALL OF MY TIRES ARE DRY ROTTED. MY TRUCK IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS 22,509 MILES. THE LIFE EXPECTANCY FOR TIRE WEAR AND TEAR IS APPROXIMATELY 6 YEARS. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS OUTCOME BECAUSE MY FIANC HAS A CADILLAC ESCALADE 2015 WHICH HE PURCHASED IN 2014 AND HE DRIVES AND HAUL'S CAR AND HIS TIRES ARE IN BETTER CONDITION THEN MINE. I HAVE MY GRANDBABIES IN MY TRUCK AND NOW WORRY OF A TIRE BLOW OUT. IF I EXPERIENCE A BLOW OUT I WILL SUE BOTH GOOD YEAR AND GMC. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IN MY TRUCK AND I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD PAY OUT OF POCKET WHEN THESE TIRES ARE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. THE BATCH PERVIOUS TO MY TIRE BATCH WERE RECALLED. WHO'S TO SAY THAT THESE TIRES ARE ALSO DEFECTIVE. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTO FOR VERIFICATION. I AM ASHAMED OF GMC FOR NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUS AS I HAVE. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT IN JUST 2 TIRES ALL 4 OF MY TIRES ARE DRY ROTTED! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME. ALL I WANTED WAS PEACE OF MIND AND THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THESE TIRES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.

ON APRIL 5, 2018, MY FAMILY AND I (FRONT PASSENGER) WERE IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT MY SEAT'S LOCKING MECHANISM LOST CONTROL OF MY SEAT CAUSING ME TO BE THROWN FORWARD AND IMPACTING THE DASHBOARD, WHICH I BELIEVE CONTRIBUTED TO MY INJURY, FRACTURED L1 AND L2.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF AND THE SERVICE STABILA-TRAC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAULKNER BUICK GMC TREVOSE LOCATED AT 4427 E STREET RD, TREVOSE, PA 19053, PHONE NUMBER: (267) 984-4658, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN O2 SENSOR FAILURE, ALONG WITH AN ECM MALFUNCTION, AND FUEL LEVEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,334.

THERE IS AN AIR VENT LOCATED NEXT TO ACCELERATOR WITH FINS SLANTED DOWNWARDS. SHOES SUCH AS TENNIS SHOES HANG UP ON THE VENT AS YOU TRY TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR. HAVE TO PULL YOUR FOOT OUT OF THE HANG UP WHICH CAUSES DELAYS AND DISTRACTIONS. DEALER SAYS NO KNOWN FIX AND THAT THIS IS NOT IDENTIFIED AS A PROBLEM BY GM.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT-DOWN, WHILE SITTING STATIONARY IN TRAFFIC WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED (ONCE AT STOPLIGHT, ANOTHER TIME BACKING OUT FROM DRIVEWAY WITH BRAKE APPLIED PRIOR TO TRANSITIONING TO DRIVE) EACH OCCASION THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUE OR WARNING LIGHTS. 1ST TIME TAKEN TO DEALER, NO "CODES" WERE FOUND AND WERE UNABLE TO RE-CREATE PROBLEM, AND SENT HOME. CURRENTLY AT DEALER FOR THE 2ND TIME AND STILL UNABLE TO RETRIEVE ERROR CODES OR RE-CREATE. CURRENTLY CONTACTING GM FOR ASSISTANCE. VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER 2016 FROM NORTH STAR GMC IN PENNSYLVANIA, AND CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 10K MILES.

2016 SLE GMC ACADIA CENTER GEAR SHIFTING COMPONENT LEVEL DOES NOT INDICATE WHAT GEAR THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN. P,R,N,D,L ALL REMAIN WHITE IN COLOR DESPITE BEING IN A DIFFERENT GEAR; AN IMPROVEMENT (PERHAPS A COLOR CHANGE TO THE CURRENT GEAR) IS NEEDED. GEAR INDICATION IS CURRENTLY LOCATED ON A 2 INCH BY 3 INCH SCREEN SCREEN ABOVE THE SPEEDOMETER IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCATED WITHIN THE AVERAGE PERSONS FIELD OF VIEW OF THE INDICATION SCREEN, THUS MAKING THE INDICATION SCREEN USELESS UNTIL A MAJOR BODY ADJUSTMENT, UP OR DOWN, IS MADE. POOR INDICATION OF CURRENT GEAR AND THE SIZE OF GEAR INDICATION NEED TO BE DRASTICALLY IMPROVED TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL GEAR SELECTION WHICH WOULD RESULT IN WRECKS AND LOST OF LIFE.
