When drving at a slower speed to make a sharp turn, steering wheel almost locks up or have to use both hands to turn the wheel. As if there is no power steering in the vehicle. At times you can not turn as sharp as needed putting you in danger of being hit by another vehicle.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the high- and low-pressure hoses, steering pump, and rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

The same model and year has a recalled for a steering issue. But due to mine having a salvage title it is not cover. They say it is NOT a safety issue. And that is NOT true. It is to the point that I can’t hardly even turn it. It is so hard to turn the steering wheel. And it is getting worse. It is a safety issue if you can’t turn the steering wheel it can cause a wreck. Please please help me with this issue..

I purchased this vehicle in Feb. 2021. Shortly after my purchase I noticed the steering would tighten up randomly when turning corners making it very difficult to steer / control the vehicle. It also does this when parking. This has happened numerous times since I purchased the vehicle. I googled the problem and found some info dated in September 16, 2014 indicating GM's Special Coverage Adjustment - Loss of Power Steering Assist indicating the special coverage covers condition described for 10 years after 1st svc date (the Carfax I received said was 2.10.2011) or 150,000 mi whichever occurs first from date vehicle originally placed in service regardless of ownership. I purchased my vehicle from a dealership on 2.03.2021 - took possession 2.06.2021. My vehicle only has 73,676 mi on it. I reached out to general motors to see if they would assist with the problem since I was not aware the issue prior to purchasing and I am the second owner. They declined and told me to contact my dealership and work with them.

No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had caught on fire under the hood. The contact pulled over to the side of the road when the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The local fire department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. The source of the fire was unidentified. A police report was filed. The contact sought medical attention for smoke inhalation. The vehicle was towed to a local tow lot via the insurance provider. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The local dealer was not contacted. In addition, the contact related the failure to an unknown NHTSA Campaign that was previously repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Shift to park issue known recall issue in other GMC Acadias ... Vehicle will not lock into park and can NOT remove key anymore electrical still runs in vehicle causing the battery to drain ... Now have to force vehicle to shift into Park as best as possible but still does not fully lock into Park gear anymore ... I was shifting into Park.

The car completely stopped while driving. Upon towing it to the shop, they stated the timing chain cause the engine to not work. This is a safety hazard due to anyone could of gotten hurt or this could have cause an accident due to I was not able to steer or do anything.

Timing chain was replaced on 11/26/2019 and failed again on 02/09/2022. Needs to be a manufacturer defect that gets fixed for free. So dangerous.

2010 GMC Acadia transmission had to be replaced due to faulty wave plate. I have seen many others with this same problem. GM is aware of the issue and even issued a special warranty for 2007-2009 models. 2010 models are having this same issue. GM should stand behind their products and issue a recall. This cost us over $3000.

MY ACADIA STARTED ACTING UP AND SHIFTING GEARS HARD WHEN GOING UP MOUNTAINS THEN IT STARTED NOT WANTING TO CHANGE GEARS FROM 3 TO 4 AND THE CODE RAN WAS SHIFTER STUCK ALSO ONCE GETTING IT IN THE SHOP WAS READING 3 OTHER TRANSMISSION CODES AND WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION WILL NEED TO BE REBUILT FOR $2800.00 I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE WHEN MADE WAS NOTORIOUS FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THAT GM WAS COVERING THE PROBLEM UP TO 100K MILES MINE NOW HAS 168K BUT I WAS NEVER TOLD AND IT DIDN'T SHOW AS A RECALL TO HAVE ANYTHING DONE ABOUT THIS. AS A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 $2800. ISN'T EASY TO JUST COME UP WITH ESPECIALLY AFTER HAVING HAS OTHER PROBLEMS THAT HAD TO BE FIXED. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?

POWER CHAIN WENT OUT WHILE TAKING A CORNER AND ALMOST PUT MY HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER IN THE DITCH, HE STOPPED AND ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED. MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING, MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING OCCASIONALLY AND THEN IT BECAME A DAILY OCCURRENCE AND MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY OCCURANCE. WHEN IT SLIPPED, I COULD FEEL IT AND THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE A 3/5 WAVE PLATE FAILURE. THE BROKEN PARTS DAMAGED THE REST OF MY TRANSMISSION AND I HAD TO HAVE A COMPLETE REBUILD. I WAS LUCKY THAT I BROUGHT IT IN TO BE CHECKED AS I FOUND OUT THAT THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL COMPLETELY WHICH COULD HAVE PUT THE OCCUPANTS OF MY VEHICLE AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY LOSS OF POWER DUE TO A DRIVETRAIN FAILURE. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 07-09'S AND THAT RECALL WAS #14404 SPECIAL COVERAGE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAVE PLATE. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THE SAME PART WAS USED IN 2010 BUT THAT GM REFUSES TO EXTEND THIS TO 2010 MODELS EVEN THOUGH 2009 PARTS WERE USED. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. IT SHOULD BE SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS MADE IN 2009.

PURCHASED 2010 GMC ACADIA USED. AT 125000 MILES, ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, RENDERING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. HAD TO GET TOWED IN. MECHANIC SAID CORROSION IN SOME WIRES. 2 WEEKS LATER, WOULDN'T START, CALLED TOW TRUCK, SUDDENLY STARTED. HAD TO SPEND $1200 HAVING SENSOR REPLACED FROM WATER DAMAGE. HAD TO PAY $300 FOR NEW WINDSHIELD BECAUSE SAID THAT IS WHERE IT WAS LEAKING. 3 WEEKS LATER, WOULDN'T START, MECHANIC SAID TWO FUSES NEEDED REPLACED. 1 WEEK LATER, WOULDN'T START, PAID ANOTHER TOW, THEN STARTED. TOW TRUCK FOLLOWED ME TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP CALLED, SAID IT WAS STARTING FINE. COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IF IT KEPT STARTING. TOLD ME TO COME GET IT. ON MY WAY TO DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED BACK TO SAY, "BINGO", IT STARTED. NEXT DAY, DIAGNOSED IT IS THE ONSTAR MODULE. WTH! $700 MORE DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN. SERIOUSLY! IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER ANY RECALLS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GMC.................EVER! COSTING A FORTUNE TO KEEP IT GOING. I'M ON A FIXED INCOME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. STILL OWE FOR THE VEHICLE, TRADING MY LEMON IS NOT AN OPTION AT THIS POINT.

THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO BURN OUT AND THE BULB HARNESS DOES NOT SECURELY HOLD THE BULB. MULTIPLE FAILURES OF THE HARNESS AND BULBS MAKE DRIVING AT NIGHT A SAFETY HAZARD. BASED ON OUR MECHANICS OPINION, THE FAULT IS A POOR DESIGN OF THE PART AND IT SHOULD BE REDESIGNED AND RECALLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR AND AT A COST TO REPAIR/REPLACE EACH TIME.

RUNNING LIGHT WAS OUT AND DISCOVERED THAT BOTH RUNNING LAMPS BULBS HAD MELTED IN THEIR SOCKETS AND ELECTRICAL WIRES BURNED AND SHORTED, THIS REQUIRED THAT BOTH LAMP UNITS BE REPLACED. POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD. I HAD REPORTED TO THE DEALER, IN 2013 THAT THE INSIDE OF THE LAMP APPEARED SMOKY BUT THEIR REPLY WAS THAT IT WAS MOISTURE CONDENSATION. REPLACED PARTS NUMBER 22938888 & 22938889 THE VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN DAYTIME, LOCALLY IN 10 MILE RADIUS, AND GARAGED ALL THE TIME. --THE REASON FOR THE LOW MILAGE. I SUSPECT THAT THE UNIT WAS CONSTRUCTED IN A MANNER THAT THE HEAT OF THE LAMP MAY NOT HAVE ADEQUATE VENTILATION TO DISSIPATE CONSEQUENTLY THERE IS A SLOW MELTING OF THE PLASTIC HOUSING, THIS IS A DESIGN FAILURE WHICH COULD LEAD TO ELECTRICAL FIRE.

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT WENT OUT AND I WAS CHARGED $106.02 TO HAVE MY BULB CHANGED.AFTER THAT IT WENT OUT AGAIN. THEN I GOT A RECALL FOR THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND TOOK IT IN AGAIN TO HAVE THEM INSTALL A NEW GASKET AND REINFORCEMENT PLATE. SINCE THEN MY LIGHT HASD GONE OUT A FEW MORE TIMES. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THEY REPAIRED IT, I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD MELTED AND THE SOCKET AND WIRES WERE MELTED TO . THIS RECALL WAS NOT FIXED CORRECTLY. THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE 3 TIMES AND THE PASSENGER SIDE 2 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THIS IS A FAMILY CAR AND THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

MY HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2010 GMC ACADIA GO OUT NUMEROUS TIMES A YEAR. TYPICALLY ONE HEADLIGHT WILL BURN OUT AND A FEW DAYS LATER THE OTHER HEADLIGHT BURNS OUT. WE REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT USUALLY BUT THIS TIME WE WENT TO REPLACE THE BUILD AND THE NEW BULB WOULDN'T WORK. THIS IS GETTING EXTREMELY COSTLY TO REPLACE HE BULBS A FEW TIMES A YEAR AND. IS WE MIGHT HAVE AN EVEN BIGGER PROBLEM WITH THE NEW BULB NOT WORKING AT ALL. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS STOP WORKING SOMETIMES THEY WILL COME BACK ON THEN GO OFF AGAIN THEN COME BACK ON AND THEN EVENTUALLY BURN THE BULB. TYPICALLY ALL THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS JUST STARTED.. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND WE'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. IT'S IN HE SHOP GETRJFN FIXED A FEW TIMES A YEAR.

WE HAVE A 2010 GMC ACADIA THAT HAS HAD MULTIPLE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT. THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN AN ISSUE AS PER MANY COMPLAINTS IN VARIOUS FORUMS ONLINE. GMC KNOWS THEY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE POWER TO THESE UNITS AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO REPLACE. I HAVE REPLACED SEVEN LOW BEAMS IN TOTAL BETWEEN BOTH LIGHTS. THESE CAN GO OUT AND COME BACK ON AT VARIOUS TIMES ALSO GIVING THE DRIVERS A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. I HAVE INCLUDED WORD DOC OF ONLINE COMMUNICATION TODAY AFTER REMOVAL OF PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH GMC AND THE ONLY SOLUTION IS AT A LOCAL SERVICE GMC LEVEL. THE ENDING COMMENT SPEAKS VOLUMES THAT IF GMC SEES ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY WILL THEN CONSIDER A RECALL. BEING A FIRE CHIEF I BELIEVE THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE DUE TO THE POSSIBLE LOSS OF HEADLAMPS. THE OTHER NOTE WAS MY MILEAGE WAS TO HIGH AS MY VEHICLE WAS JUST OVER 100,000 MILES. THIS ISSUE WAS TAKING PLACE FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS. THEY NEED TO DO A RECALL ON ALL OF THESE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES. I HAVE DATED THIS ISSUE TODAY EVEN THOUGH THE LAST TIME THIS ISSUE STARTED WAS ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO.

all the wiring under the dash has got the installation melted off of the wiring and can't get the vehicle to start or get any power to the battery or ect and the fuse box under the dash has 50 fuses in it and out of all of them only one of them out of 50 is getting power and to me it's a fire Hazzard and i think gmc needs to do a recall on it or replace my vehicle i've got it in a garage now and that's what the mechanic has found out about is the wiring under the dash

I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS FOR MY A/C NOT BLOWING COLD AIR AND WHEN IT IS REFILLED IT BUILDS UP PRESSURE AND THEN I CAN HEAR IT ALL SPRAYING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD LIKE AN AIR HOSE. ALSO, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS MY CAMSHAFT SENSOR, I WAS TOLD BOTH OF THESE WERE RECALLED AND THE GMC DEALERSHIP WILL TAKE CARE OF ME FOR FREE, I TOOK MY CAR TO A GMC DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME AND SAID MY CAR DOESN'T HAVE ANY OPEN RECALLS AND IF THERE WAS THEY STILL COULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE MILES REQUIRED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL AS MINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS IS GETTING THEIRS FIXED FOR FREE BUT I WAS UNABLE TO BE HELPED, I DON'T SEE HOW THIS IS FAIR I AM A SINGLE MOM RIDING AROUND IN THIS HEAT WORKING MY TAIL OFF TO DO THE BEST I CAN . THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. THE VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT WHEN NOT IN USE. I AM CONCERNED THAT DASHBOARD PIECES MAY INJURE THE DRIVER OR PASSENGERS DURING A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS CAP AS IT CONTINUED TO GO ON AND OFF. I HAD SOMEONE CHECK THE CODES AND IT CAME BACK WITH P0017 AND P0008. IN ADDITION NOW THE A/C BUTTON WON'T STAY ON. IT BLINKS THEN TURNS OFF. I'VE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS FROM OTHER OWNERS AND THAT GMC WILL NOT HONOR THEIR POOR MANUFACTURER WORKMANSHIP. IS ANYONE HELPING THE CONSUMER?

WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE I GET A "SERVICE AIRBAGS" WARNING. I PUSH THE DASH BUTTON THAT CLEARS THE DISPLAY AND IT DOES NOT COME BACK ON. ONLY WHEN I AM STATIONARY AND HAVE JUST STARTED THE ENGINE. I MENTIONED IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID, "OH, THAT COULD BE EXPENSIVE." I HAVE YET TO GET IT SERVICED BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE STATED THE PROBLEM AND SPENT LOTS OF MONEY TO NO AVAIL. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND COULD BE LIFE THREATENING IF EVER INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE 159,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND THE WARNING BEGAN IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS.

MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2010 GMC ACADIA IN JULY 2012. SINCE WE'VE HAD THE VEHICLE WE HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP WHICH FORTUNATELY IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. BUT NOW THE AC IN THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED WORKING. THE TECHNICIAN DID A BLACK LIGHT TESTING OF THE AC AND IT REVEALED LARGE AREAS OF ULTRA-VIOLET DYE COVERING THE AC HOSES AND SURROUNDING AREA. THEY RECHARGED A SMALL AMT OF R-134A FREON INTO THE SYSTEM TO HELP PINPOINT THE LEAK TO THE SUCTION AND DISCHARGE HOSES WHICH HAVE BLOWN. WHEN THEY CHECKED ON ORDERING THE HOSES, THESE HOSES ARE ON BACKORDER WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THESE HOSES. TIMING CHAIN NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO STRETCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT 137,882 WHICH COST $2,049. THIS ISSUE WAS COVERED UNDER SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR 2007-2009 MODEL YEARS, BUT THE 2010 IS NOT COVERED. MY UNDERSTANDING OF GMC'S FIX IS THAT NOTHING CHANGED WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND THE OIL SYSTEM LIFE WAS LOWERED AS TO WHEN AN OIL CHANGE WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE VEHICLE (MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES). I HAVE COMPLETED ALL SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES BASED ON THE AUTOMATED PROMPT FROM THE VEHICLE AND STILL HAD TO COMPLETE THIS COSTLY REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. ALSO, FOUND 2007-2009 ACADIA RECEIVED EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, 2010 NOT COVERED DESPITE FINDING APPROXIMATELY 15 IDENTICAL 2010 GMC ACADIA ON NHTSA SITE. I HAD SOME WARRANTY WORK PERFORM ON MY 2010 GMC ACADIA. I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND NEEDED TO REINSTALL MY TWO FORWARD FACING CAR SEATS IN THE SECOND ROW SEATS FOR MY TWO CHILDREN. I HAD BUCKLED MY 2 YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE INSTALLED CAR SEAT BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHILE I WAS DOING OTHER WORK IN THE CAR. AT SOME POINT, I PUSHED THE DRIVER'S SEAT MEMORY BUTTON 1 WHICH HAD BEEN SET FOR MY DRIVING PREFERENCES. I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT THE SEAT MOVED BACKWARDS AND ALSO INTO A RECLINE AS A RESULT OF THE AUTOMATED MEMORY SEAT. I ONLY NOTICED WHEN MY CHILD BEGAN SCREAMING BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK WAS PUSHING INTO HER LEGS AND CONTINUING TO MOVE INTO HER. SHE WAS THANKFULLY NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED AS A RESULT OF THIS, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT SHE COULD HAVE BEEN. AFTER THE INCIDENT, I ESTIMATED THAT SHE HAD ABOUT 2 INCHES OF SPACE FOR HER LEGS BETWEEN THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND HER CAR SEAT. THESE STRUTS MAY PREMATURELY WEAR AND THE OPEN LIFTGATE MAY SUDDENLY FALL." MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THE BACK LIFT GATE WILL OPEN AND THEN WITH GREAT FORCE CLOSES DOWN QUICKLY. WITHIN A MONTH AFTER BUYING OUR 2010 GMC ACADIA THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS CONTINUALLY GOING FLAT. WE WERE CONSTANTLY REFILLING THE AIR ON A WEEKLY BASIS. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED ST AND THE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. WE USED FIX A FLAT AND CONTINUED TO REFILL AIR AND IT HAS GONE LONGER PERIODS WITHOUT GOING FLAT ALTHOUGH TIRE IS CONSTANTLY LOW. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT TEN TIMES NOW ALL WITHIN THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS. I WILL BE DRIVING AND GO TO MAKE A TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE ENGINE DIES. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SET ME UP WITH A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED. GMC SAID IF IT WAS UNDER 150,000 MILES THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT AND IF IT WAS OVER THEN I WOULD STILL QUALIFY FOR A PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. HOWEVER A DAY AFTER DROPPING OFF MY CAR TO GET FIXED THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND SAID THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX MY CAR AND TO COME GET IT OUT OF THEIR PARKING LOT. THE BATTERY ON MY GMC ACADIA DIED ON THE 15TH FEBRUARY AND THE DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS TOLD THE SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING RIGHT AND THE PARTS WERE ORDERED. THE FRIDAY OF 2/26 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 50MPH AND HALF THE GAS TANK WAS EMPTIED IN 25 MILES. DURING THAT FRIDAY THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING EVEN AFTER I PULLED THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THAT SAME NIGHT THE BATTERY DIED AND COULD NOT BE JUMP STARTED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER PARKED THE VEHICLE, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY, BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE BATTERY CABLE HAD TO BE DETACHED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO POWER OFF. AFTER TEN MINUTES, THE CONTACT RECONNECTED THE BATTERY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS AT A LOCAL DRIVE THRU WINDOW AND I WAS STOPPED, MY CAR WAS IN PARK. I WAS BEGINNING TO LEAVE, CAR IN DRIVE AND I HIT THE PASSENGER FRONT RIGHT TIRE ON THE CURB. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED IT. UNFORTUNATELY, MY STATE DOES NOT HAVE A LEMON LAW FOR USED VEHICLES SO I HAVE BEEN STUCK WITH REPAIR AFTER REPAIR. #1 THE BATTERY. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2016 AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY TWICE ALREADY. THIS VEHICLE HAS KILLED CELLS IN MULTIPLE BATTERIES. #2 THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I INITIALLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY IT WOULD NOT SMOOTHLY SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT OF COURSE THE ISSUE WOULD REPLICATE DURING THEIR TEST DRIVE SO THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE TRUCK WILL NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY, BUT THE PROBLEM NORMALLY CORRECTS IF YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE TRUCK WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS. THIS IS PROBLEMATIC WHEN YOU HAVE A TODDLER IN THE VEHICLE AND NEED TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT IN TO 3RD GEAR, THEN YOU HAVE TO TRY TO SAFELY FIND A SHOULDER AND HOPE THAT TURNING OFF/TURNING ON THE VEHICLE WILL FIX THE ISSUE. SOMETIMES IT'S A 1X FIX; OTHER TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS TO THE RESTARTED 3X TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL CHANGE GEARS CORRECTLY. DIAGNOSIS FROM 1 MECHANIC, SOMETHING IS STICKING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED #3 TIMING CHAIN. THIS IS THE MOST RECENT ISSUE. IT BEGAN WITH AN ONSET OF A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MULTIPLE CODES ABOUT A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, O2 SENSORS, ETC. ORIGINALLY THE MECHANIC WAS GOING TO REPLACE THE SENSORS, BUT INSISTS ON REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY BASED ON THE INFORMATION DISCOVERED ABOUT VEHICLES USING THE SAME PARTS AND RECALLS IT'S UNFORTUNATE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS VEHICLE HASN'T HAD A RECALL ISSUED FOR ANY OF THESE ISSUES KNOWING THAT THEY POSE SAFETY RISKS FOR DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY.

DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND THE TRACTION SAFETY CAME ON AS I MAY HAVE SLED ON SOME VERY WET LEAVES. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC, AS I GATHERED MYSELF AND GOT THE CAR READY TO DRIVE OFF THE TIRES STARTED SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL I AWESOME TRYING TO GET TRACTION THEN THE ABS LIGHT APPEARED AND THE BRAKES STARTED GRINDING. THEN THE VEHICLE SWITCH GEARS AND THE CAR BEGIN TO GO IN A JERKY MOVEMENT AT 6 TO 8 MPH THE RPMS WOULD NOT GO UP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RETURN BACK TO NORMAL GEAR. AFTER PRAYING I MAKE IT TO MY DOOR THE DASH THEN SAID CALIBRATE VEHICLE BY DRIVING IN A CIRCLE. THE CAR CUT OFF TWICE BUT WOULD IMMEDIATELY START RIGHT UP THEN THE DASH STATED ENGINE IS HOT TURN AIR OFF. NO AIR WAS ON AT ALL. THE THERMOSTAT TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ALL THE WAY UP AND ALL THE NEEDLES WERE FLIPPING UP AND DOWN AT DIFFERENT TIMES. I COULD NOT SEEM TO GAIN TRACTION ONLY IN REVERSE AND NO ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY INDICATION OF ANY MALFUNCTION. I HAVE A 2010 GMC ACADIA. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED THE GM SPECIAL COVERAGE EXTENDED WARRANT LETTER # 14329. AT THAT TIME, I HAD ALREADY NOTICED EXTREME DIFFICULTY IN TURNING THE WHEEL AT LOW RATES OF SPEED AND BRUSHED IT OFF AS PROBABLY NEEDING POWER STEERING FLUID I ALSO NOTICED A "WHINING" NOISE ALONG WITH THIS ACTION. I BEGAN TO WORRY AS THE MATTER KEPT WORSENING AND ALREADY STILL HAD TRAUMA FROM A PRIOR ACCIDENT IN 2010 WHICH LEFT ME TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE IN 2011 WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD BE A MORE SAFE STABLE VEHICLE FOR ME. UPON A FEW WEEKS LATER, WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN MANEUVER, THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY "LOCKED" UP! LUCKILY, NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS IN SIGHT, OTHERWISE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY! THE DEALER CONTACTS ME TO INFORM ME THAT THE PUMP WAS COVERED IN THE WARRANT BUT NOT THE RACK WHICH THEY SAID WAS LEAKING ON BOTH SIDES (WHICH IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE PART). MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE OF $1200.00 AFTER LABOR AND THE ALIGNMENT!! ALL THE PARTS OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM SHOULD BE PAID FOR ALL EXPENSE BY GM!! 2010 ACADIA TRANSMISSION AND TRACTION CONTROL SAFETY PROBLEMS. FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS, THE FUEL LIGHT IN MY WIFE'S 2010 ACADIA WILL NOT GO OFF. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD US THERE WAS TOO MUCH ALCOHOL IN THE FUEL, @ 12%, AND IF IT REACHED 15%, THEY WOULD NEED TO DROP THE FUEL TANK. THEY SAID TO RUN A COUPLE OF TANKS OF 93 OCTANE THROUGH THE VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD CORRECT ITSELF. AFTER 8 TANKS OF 93 OCTANE AT $3/GALLON, THE LIGHT IT STILL ON. GAS STATIONS DO NOT READILY ADVERTISE OR DISPLAY THE % OF ALCOHOL IN THEIR FUEL, MUCH LESS IF ALCOHOL IS EVEN IN THE FUEL. IT SEEMS A BIT DISINGENUOUS ON THE PART OF GM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE ACADIA, KNOWING HOW ALCOHOL IS USED IN FUEL THESE DAYS. WE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO RUN 93 OCTANE THROUGH IT THE REST OF THE TIME WE OWN IT.
