The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after the vehicle was parked and the gear shifter was shifted to park(P), the vehicle failed to turn off as intended. The message "Shift to Park" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked, and the gear shifter was shifted to park(P), however the vehicle failed to recognize that the gear shifter was in park(P). The contact jiggled the gear shifter button several times and was able to turn off the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

There is a continuing issue with the shifter causing a "Shift to Park" message that is resulting in the vehicle electrical system not turning off. This is causing the vehicle to drain the battery and not able to lock the vehicle while the "Shift to Park" message is displayed on the instrument panel. Concerned not only what is mentioned above but mainly concerned in not knowing if the vehicle is truly in park that may cause the vehicle to roll.

The contact's boyfriend owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked abnormally while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure; however, the mechanic stated that the failure was related to the transmission. The contact called two local dealers about the failure, and both stated that the vehicle could not be serviced in the near future. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

Driving down the street and I heard a extremely loud drop. The transmission went out with no warning or even indication of trouble. The vehicle ran very smooth until that point.

When I shift my car to park, it doesn't register that it is in park. It won't let me shut the car off. I can move the gear shift around a bit and it will eventually say it is in park. It can take sometimes up to 10 minutes for me to be able to shut off my car. I have read that this is a known issue and there was a recall, but my vin number was not included for some reason? The issue started about a month ago and has been continually getting worse.

GMC customer care representative & local GMC service department supervisor unable to help. 2017 Acadia Shift to Park message. It’s Difficult to turn the car off. The vehicle refuses to acknowledge the park position. Potential rollaway hazard. You may inspect. Took it to GMC service & confirmed it is a prevalent issue: Transmission control 13534320 = gearshift assembly & Jumper harness 84733196. This problem has been recurring for several years and I have problem solved how to shut the car off. GMC customer care rep said it’s an issue with all 2017 Acadias and tried to help. The system deemed it complicated case & escalated it to a Supervisor. She read a “customer care” script. After talking, she admitted that realistically GMC would not help. Yesterday, she advised me to file a complaint with NHTSA. I read that 2 other states Ohio & Tennessee won class action lawsuits because of the hazardous shift to park issue. If GMC issued recalls for 2017 Acadia shift to park then my 2017 GMC Acadia should have been included. I have been waiting for the recall for several years. GMC admits the problem is prevalent in 2017 GMC Acadias. Would you please issue a recall associated with this issue and link it to my VIN. Thank you.

The transmission in my 2017 GMC Acadia needs to be replaced. According to an article from Qulll&Arrow, LLP, transmission problems affected the 2017, 2018, 2019 and some 2020 models, however, my VIN number is not included in this. I am reporting this so it can be documented in case other owners come forward and a pattern can be established.

Shift to park. Car will not register as in park. Have previously had issue fixed and has started again. Was told this is a common reoccurance and would likely happen again over time even if I pay to have it fixed again. Yesterday I spent 45 minutes trying to get the car to turn off. If it says shift to park the car will not shut completely down and there is nothing that can be done. I spoke with gmc for 30 min and was finally told to unhook the battery because they have no way to make it shut off without going to a dealership which was closed at the time.

The car is in park & ignition button has been hit to turn vehicle off. When engine is turned off all interior, exterior, dash, & ignition switch lights remain on with a notification on the dashboard stating to "shift to park". The doors can not be locked when this message is on the screen. It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes for the lights & dash to go out, allowing you to exit & lock the car. If you exit the car while the message still appears on the dash, not only are the lights on & unable to lock the car, but if someone where to get into the car, without the key fob, they can start the car & drive off. My husband & I were in a shopping center parking lot in July 2025 where the "shift to park" error came on. We sat in the car, 110 degrees outside, for 10 minutes waiting for the car to shut down. Finally we had to exit the car because we could no longer take the heat. My husband went back to the car, 5 minutes late, while I was in the store to see if the car had finally shut down. To his surprise the lights and dash where still on. He noticed the start button light was also still on & thought if he hit the button the lights would shut off, but no, the car actually started & again he did not have the key fob with him. This is a serious issue & needs to be addressed & I do not feel that I should be paying for this repair. My husband unexpectantly passed away in Sept 2025 & now I am left to deal with this on my own. I have to get this issue fixed as I can not take the chance someone will take my car someday nor do I want to continue to sit in my car for 10-20 minutes waiting for it to shut down. The dealership I took it to diagnosed it as due to a faulty switch in the shifter which means its poor workmanship & not related to owner usage. Please add this to the recall list so that I can get it fixed quickly or if I have to get it fixed prior to being approved by you I can at least recoup my money. Thank you

GMC has been unresponsive in servicing the recall for this vehicle as of 10/08/2024. Local dealers indicate they are waiting for parts - related airbags for servicing the recall. As a result, the car is not able to be sold for a fair market value. It is a 2017 model and we are being impacted financially by the issues with this recall and parts that are still unavailable.

Twice the shift to park function of the vehicle has failed, once in 2020 and again in 2025, it appear that there is a recall for the year make and model vehicle, but for some reason my particular VIN in not included in this recall. The recall needs to be expanded to address this safety issue.

2017 GMC Acadia "shift to park" known failure. When you place the vehicle in the park position, mechanically it seems to be in park but the control says shift to park. When traveling long distance from home you can find yourself in a position where you cannot leave your car. You cannot lock it or turn it off properly. This is an ongoing problem known to GM and listed in many Technical bulletins including Bulletin No. 19-NA-206 date September, 2019. A recall should be issued for this problem. We found ourselves stranded hundreds of miles from home with a vehicle we could not shut off or secure. This may cause you to leave your car unattended, unlocked and running if you cannot get it to park and shut down.

Vehicle frequently shows the error "Shift to Park" when I attempt to turn off the car after it is placed in park - which is confirmable via the instrument panel. The vehicle electronics will not turn off until the error is cleared. At times I cannot clear the error and I've had to set my parking brake and leave the car electronics running while I go into a store, which leaves car unsecured and drains the battery. The car has gone into my local GMC dealer for repairs. The first time I took it in (August 2020), I was 365 miles outside my warranty and GMC refused to pay for the repairs. The dealership felt certain a recall would be issued and suggested I have harness switched which they admitted was a band-aid fix and that it wouldn't fix the issue, but it would allow a period where the error disappears (which it did) - until a recall is issued. The Shift to Park error reappeared about 1.5 years later. I took my Acadia back to the dealership and was told they could not replicate the error and therefore there was nothing they could about it. The error is happening much more often and I've scheduled another repair appointment to address the problem.

When trying to place the vehicle in "PARK" the message is displayed to "SHIFT TO PARK". The shift lever is in the park position, but the vehicle CANNOT BE TURNED OFF while this message is displayed. The shift lever has to be moved back and forth multiple times, sometimes for several minutes before allowing you to safely shut down the vehicle and exit. This is a known issue for GMC vehicles, yet they tell me that my VIN doesn't show the vehicle is eligible for a recall for this exact issue.

SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY ACADIA IN MAY OF 2018, IT STARTED DISPLAYING A SHIFT TO PARK WARNING WHEN I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY. WELL ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. ONLY THIS TIME IT'S WORSE. IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES AND TRICKS TO GET THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE IT'S IN PARK AND ALLOW ME TO SHUT THE CAR OFF - WHEN THE WARNING POPS UP IT WON'T ALLOW THE CAR TO POWER OFF SO ALL THE ELECTRONICS STAY ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 79,000 MILES AND THEY HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY ONCE THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT'S A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.

Pulled into a parking space, put the car into park and tried to shut the car off. The warning system said I needed to shift to park. I was in park but could not shut the car off because the car thought I wasnt in park. Took 15 minutes of shifting from park to all gears and shaking the gear shifter before it finally let me shut the vehicle off. This is now the second time this has happened and ive had to have the same thing repaired. They are replacing the whole shifter assembly. Error reads SHIFT TO PARK. This is happening every few years now and at almost 1000 dollars to repair and only lasting a year or so, this is ridiculous.

SHIFT TO PARK Warning comes on & you can't lock the vehicle nor will it shut off completely. I've had to start & reverse several times before it engages/recognizes that it is in park. OBVIOUSLY this is a KNOWN issue by reading all the other posts relating to this. Please issue a recall....

After shifting to park and attempting to turn off my vehicle, I receive an “Action Required Shift to Park” error message. I’m assuming the vehicle is in park but I’m not certain and worry about it moving or rolling. It is difficult to get it to turn off by jiggling the shifter and turning the vehicle on and off. At times, I am not able to get it off and then the vehicle will not lock and the battery goes dead. According to my VIN there is not an active recall but brief internet search states there has been numerous reports, recalls, and lemon law returns due to this.

My car will not park. I get a shift to park error message. I tried restarting and shutting it off. Didn't work. I ended up putting it in neutral turning on the emergency brake and then shutting the car off. I have had no problems with this car to this point, I am a single car owner and my car must be reliable. I can't spend a half hour trying to get the car to shut off.

Oil is burning through. I have to get an oil change once a month or it goes completely empty. Spoke to multiple macanics now and all tell me that's a defect with the 2017 arcadia. I just bought this in August. I love it and don't want to get rid of it. Please fix this. I can't keep burning through oil like this. It's not safe for my kids and I

check engine light comes on & simultaneously the A/C will not work. when I first researched there was information stating that the grease GM used in the drive train was too thick resulting in the thermostat not working properly. even though GM first acknowledged they caused the problem they are not issuing a recall to fix the problem. instead they want me to take my car to a dealership & pay approx. $2400 to turn off the sensor

Thermometer stop properly working. Check engine light came on. Ran fhe diagnostic code which confirms the Thermometer needs replaced. This began Dec 2023 - bought the vehicle in Oct 2023. Unsure if this was an issue prior. The cooling fan would kick on, and the temp gauge would stop working. Dealership was able to replace this and so far no further issues with the tempature reading.

Vehicle keeps intermittently coming up with "Power Steering Reduced: Drive with Care," during this my steering is perfectly fine, however my A/C stops blowing cold air, the temperature gauge stops working and my engine fan is running constantly. This is obviously a well known issue since googling that warning and my vehicle it comes up with the issue and what the cause is. Which the cause is from the thermostat remaining open and allowing coolant to run through the system, even when the vehicle is not overheating. I just bought this vehicle used from my local dealership and am surprised that GM has not recognized this is an issue affecting numerous vehicle. This should at the very least be put as a warranty covered issue!

We were receiving a message stating steering reduction. Turns out the thermostat sticks open and the electronic control module reset was a temporary fix. We had the thermostat replaced and the issue hasn’t happened again. Steering issues should be a safety issue and be considered for recall. Your thoughts please.

The contact stated that the warning light then turned off independently. In addition, the contact stated that the air conditioning failed to function as intended and the interior of the vehicle became extremely hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer in 2024 for the failure, and the contact was informed that the power steering assist feature had failed, and the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test, and a case number would then be provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the steering wheel was inoperable, with the message “Steering Assist Reduced” displayed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was loosened and became difficult to turn. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the thermostat coolant sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Subject of the problem: Service brakes/Hydraulic brakes Problem of the vehicle: While driving, the brake pedal sometimes suddenly goes all the way down without resistance, and the vehicle does not slow down as expected. In order to regain brake pedal twice. Frequency of the problem: This issue occurs intermittently, but it poses a serious risk because the vehicle may not stop when needed. I already had the brake booster kit and hose replaced at an authorized GMC dealership because I was told this was the cause. However, the exact same problem continues to happen after the repair. Safety concern: This appears to be a defect that affects braking performance and safety. The issue occurs intermittently while driving (e.g., at stop lights, low-speed braking, or during normal driving). It has happed multiple times since the repair. This problem could cause loss of braking power and result in a crash. It is extremely dangerous and has not been resolved by the manufacturer's recommended repair. I have called the GMC service center at 18004678782 and 18002221020 with this problem. They told me that they could do nothing about it and to deal with the dealership directly myself and they can not do anything. I have talked to the dealership but they just tell me there was another problem other than the initial problem they told me. The dealership did the first checkup and that problem was not fixed. Then went in again because the same problem was happening so they did another checkup and told me there was another problem not the initial problem they told me. The second checkup they did, the part and labor was $2,700. I went in with the same problem and have to pay that much. The problem was not solved with the initial diagnosis they gave and now have pay extra ($2,700 - second checkup price) to fix the problem they did not fix. Thank you.

4-11-22 Wife and I drove from our house to the corner intersection. She put the breaks on and the pedal went to the floor and the car drifted into the intersection, across the street to a parkin lot and then we costed back to our house and had it towed to the local GMC Dealership. Asked for meeting with District Service Manager as I had paid to have vehicle fixed for my use. 5-3 and 4-22 Customer Service in MI agreed that it was a safety issue but out of warranty for brakes. Ok for brakes to go due to wear. 5-16-22 Gave District Service manager (PIE 0458 dated 3-22-18) which reads: "Brake pedal goes to floor with no external sign of a leak" GM KNEW. District Manager helped financially. If we had been in a car crash and died it would have been labeled we ran a stop sigh not that GM willingly put a possible death trap into the publics hands. Sending this because others may have been misdiagnosed concerning a crash. A PIE was issued but no Bulletin was issued

my car parking brakes will automatically come on while I am driving/ at a light or waiting to turn. I always push the brake pedal all the way down to decompress it and it is still hard to get going. This has put me in very dangerous situations causing my suv to lose power and often times if I am in the middle of a turn it locks up and make it hard to turn. I have took my car to the dealership twice and they have looked at my car and seems to not found a problem

THIS OCCURRED WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN THE AFTERNOON ON MARCH 12, 2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30PM.... UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE CAR LURCHED CRASHING INTO A LIGHT POLE. FORTUNATELY THE LIGHT POLE PREVENTED ME FROM HITTING ANOTHER CAR IN THE PARKING LOT. MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED SLAMMING INTO MY CHEST AND I MANAGED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY GMC ACADIA AND AAA AND MY INSURANCE WERE CALLED AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP AS INSTRUCTED BY MY INSURANCE. I AM PRESENTLY AWAITING CALLS FROM MY INSURANCE AND THE ADJUSTER. THIS IS SATURDAY AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE MANNER THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AND I'M STILL HAVING CHEST PAINS WHERE THE AIRBAG HIT ME.

ON SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 2020 THE EBCM, ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE, SET OFF A PARKING BRAKE DASHBOARD LIGHT CAUTION. THE PARKING BRAKES NO LONGER ENGAGED. BELIEVING IT WAS A CERTIFIED WARRANTY ISSUE, I HAD IT REPAIRED, APRIL14, 2020, AT BURDICK CHEVY GMC BUICK. TURNS OUT IT IS CONSIDERED A 'WEARABLE PART' AND NOT COVERED. TWO DAYS LATER, APRIL 16, 2020, I DISCOVERED THE EBCM MODULE RECALL ON SIMILAR VEHICLES, ATTACHED AP ARTICLE. SINCE APRIL 16 UNTIL APRIL 23, I ATTEMPTED WORKING WITH GMC, AND THE DEALER, OBTAINING REIMBURSEMENT TO NO AVAIL. The vehicle keeps shaking specially at the first and second gear, up to 40miles/hr and at any up hills roads. I took it to the mechanic and he said that it’s an issue in the transmission and needs to be replaced. Also the engine fan randomly turns on automatically, and a warning message stating “Steering assist reduced. Drive with care”

The shifter does not always engage and the car will remain in gear and can't be turned off. The safety issue is the vehicle rolls forward and backwards at times. I have hit my riding lawnmower under my carport because it continued to roll when in park. I have reported an issue in 2018 and in August 2019 a repair was performed and again in 2019 a gear shift assembly was replaced, It has been confirmed there is an issue with the shifter by a tech servicing my car when he drove it. It is at the dealer now 07-24-2023 to determine the issue and repair. Shift to park will come on inconsistently, however it will roll forward without the message.

THE "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING MESSAGE SHOWS UP AND WON'T PERMIT CAR TO BE SHUTOFF. ON 9/21/20, IT TOOK ME ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF TRYING DIFFERENT POSITIONS AND BY PHYSICALLY MOVING VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT PARKING SPACE . PROBLEM OCCURS SPORADICALLY. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS BUT NOT AS SEVERE AS THIS LAST TIME. VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED 11/2019, WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY WITH 10,062 MILES FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN WHICH THE DEALER REPLACED A SHIFTER HARNESS. I keep getting a message for Shift to Park when my car is already parked. My battery keeps draining for no reason even through my battery is good. I could be driving and my truck just shuts off without warning and my battery dies. Then when it shuts off all these other lights comes on. I have to let it sit for a second then it starts back up. This has been going on for months. I took it to the dealership and they ran all type of test and couldn’t figure out why it was doing it.

Shift to park alert pops up when turning vehicle off. Vehicle is in park. This prohibits the vehicle from turning off. Per my investigation other gmc acadias made in 2017 also have experienced this which results into either prohibiting them from turning their vehicle off or their battery dying. This is a safety hazard because it increases risk of being stranded due to malfunction.

This Car, 2017GMC Acadia, started showing up on many occasions; and is getting worse. I park the car and put it into park. when I try to turn off the engine, a message shows up on the display SHIFT CAR INTO PARK. the car is in park, and I cannot shut off the engine, due to this message. The car IS in park, and the message tells me it is not. AND I CANNOT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I have to leave the car engine running until I try shifting gear shift back and forth multiple times and bingo sometimes the message goes away. Something is wrong here.

The vehicle was taken four times to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the side blind spot module needed to be repaired. Additionally, the inter system malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 38,538.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and accelerating to 25 MPH, the vehicle jerked and downshifted, and decelerated to 17-18 MPH. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times while driving. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 5 MPH and attempting to come to a complete stop, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle shuddered and failed to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal harder, and the vehicle responded. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving, causing him to shift to neutral(N) while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the diagnostic test codes: P0010, P0016, P0018, and P0507 were retrieved. The mechanic determined that the engine and an unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Two unknown dealers were notified of the failure and informed the contact the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the camshaft and timing chain however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was later taken back to the dealer who later replaced the transmission. After replacing the transmission, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. A diagnostic test was performed, and it was determined that the camshaft and timing chain was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 78,588. The VIN was not available.

No incident yet. Although at 68,567 miles, it should not need J0780 Timing Cover Gasket replacement costing approximately $1847. Powertrain warranty was 5 year 65,000 miles. I purchased in April 2017, so April 2022 was 5 years. Unbelievable.

Previous complaint of Shift to Park on 06/13/19 VOQ 11219862 at mileage 36270. On 12/5/21, approx miles 62099 same problem with Shift to Park. Was scheduled for service on 12/06/21 at Adams Buick GMC in Richmond, KY and mentioned the problem and previous complaint. Was told that it had been over a year ago but that they could fix it and charge me $152 for part & $315 for labor. It was less that 26000 miles driven since the last issue. After last complaint, the dealer contacted GMC and the part was replaced at no cost under bulletin for concern # 5 145420 and they replaced the transmission control assembly. This is an ongoing problem with GMC and I don't think that every 26000 miles I should have to pay to replace the same part when GMC knows it is a problem by the numerous complaints. In fact while I was getting my vehicle serviced, I spoke to another lady there who had the same problem with her vehicle. Had I not caught the message, I probably would have had to replace my battery or my vehicle could have rolled into the house. There were no warning lamps or messages prior. GMC needs to step up to the plate and issue a recall because they have numerous vehicles with the same problem. My vehicle has undergone this malfunction twice and I find it unacceptable and know that I can't afford to pay $467 every 26000 miles for an issue that GMC is clearly aware of but won't address because no one has been killed by the issue as of this date to my knowledge, but it's going to happen sooner or later if the issue is not addressed properly.

THE VEHICLE GIVES A 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING ON DASHBOARD AFTER VEHICLE IGNITION BUTTON. THIS WARNING SHOWS UP EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS ACCEPTED TO SHUT OFF. IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES AND TRIES TO GET THE MESSAGE TO GO AWAY AND THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE ONLY SUCCESSFUL WAY OF GETTING THE MESSAGE AND VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IS BY WIGGLING OR SHAKING THE GEAR SHIFTER UNTIL IT GOES AWAY. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE FOR CONCERNS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL WITH THE VEHICLE NOT REGISTERING THAT IT IS IN PARK. AFTER RESEARCHING THE VEHICLE ISSUE FURTHER IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAVE HAD THE SAME SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE AND HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLE ROLL ON IT'S OWN. The middle row passenger side bucket seat seems to have a seat buckle failure. We have had a booster seat professionally installed for over a year. I check daily before my son gets in the seat that the seat is properly secured, but this morning it was loose. The shoulder belt that you have to pull all the way out to ratchet. It in place was completely un ratcheted and free to move. The buckle was still buckled completely, and the only way the shoulder belt should have been able to be loose like that would’ve been completely unbuckling and letting it retract all the way. The seat buckle was never unbuckled whatsoever. It seems like that ratcheting mechanism somehow failed and released the lock on the shoulder belt which was supposed to be holding the car seat in place. To properly resecure the car seat, I needed to unbuckle and allow the seat buckle to completely retract back into its normal position before pulling it back out to route through the car seat and re-ratcheting it tightly. The locking mechanism appears to be working now, but I am concerned that without unbuckling the seat buckle it just randomly Unlocked on its own.

When the vehicle is cold in the winter it is very hard to push in and latch the Driver seat belt. I have complained to the dealer and they have told me that there is no factory approved method to lubricate it. They suggested that I try spraying some WD-40 in it, but they are not allowed to. My vehicle is not under bumper-to-bumper warranty anymore, but I do have a GMC extended warrantee that is stating that it is not covered. I am not aware of anything ever spilling inside of it (If that did happen, it would not work fine in warm weather). Since this is a safety issue I want to ensure it is properly reported and possibly I can get assistance with GMC fixing this issue with my vehicle. I started noticing the issue in winter of 2023 and it was worse this winter (2024).

Seatbelt buckles are defective. Unable to latch properly in first 2 rows. In 3 led row seatbelt is also defective. Somehow my daughter got tangled in seatbelt and could not breathe, I was forced to cut seatbelt with scissors. Always had seatbelt problems since purchase. However due to the trauma my daughter faced I am very concerned.

While driving get notice lane departure not working and thermostat registered zero, when code scanned, states low thermostat temp and able to reset with code reader. Will reoccur in minters to days later. This is an electrical issue to to the ability to reset with a code scan tool, but also a safety issue since it also effects the electrical safety ability associated with the sensor.

I get a "service side detection" on my DIC. It used to work occasionally, now it no longer works. The sensors lights do come on when the "service side detection" shows up. Sometimes this alerts comes and goes and sometimes it stays until I push a button, in which it just reappears later. I put the car in park and the push button start would not let me turn off my car. I sat in the parking lot almost 30 min, putting my car in park, then drive, then park for my car to recognize its actually in park to turn off. I started getting this error on the start and stop at lights... it never turned off during the start and stop but fearing my life or my families life.... I took it to my local GMC dealership and the manager from the Service department said this is a common issue with this model, he has repaired HUNDREDS of them. His words. This is a safety issue.... I am shocked this has not been recalled. The lack of urgency to get this fixed is very concerning. It costs my $708.92 to fix this issue. I 100% think i am owed this money due to something that should 100% be recalled. I don’t know what is going on with it. I have had it in and out of the shop. My car will randomly throw the parking break on and completely lock my car up. There is no reason why it should be on. The dealership thought it could be the systems needing a update but that didn’t fix it. It’s a real big safety issue and needs to be looked into. It just did it to me crossing over rail road tracks and I couldn’t go anywhere until it decided to unlock.

STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION FOR A RED LIGHT, UPON GREEN LIGHT, ACCELERATOR TAPPED TO ENTER INTERSECTION AND FORWARD COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM APPLIED BRAKES. NOTHING WAS IN FRONT OF VEHICLE AT TIME OF FORWARD COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM APPLICATION. TAPPED ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND VEHICLE HESITATED BUT SLOWLY ACCELERATED TO NORMAL SPEEDS. SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT MICHELIN WOULD PAY TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES BUT WOULD SPLIT THE COST WITH ME, MEANING I HAVE TO PAY 500-600 DOLLARS FOR NEW TIRES WHEN GMC AND MICHELIN KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE. I HAVE HAD A VIBRATION IN MY CAR WHEN YOU WOULD DRIVE ALL THE TIME TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS THEY COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT. THEY ALL SAID IT WAS NORMAL WHY THE CAR DRIVES. Tire size is P235/65R18 I purchased these tires in December of 2024. I am concerned that these tires were built without the correct compound to be qualified as an all-season. I have never had tires this bad in snow, even though they are all season brand-new tires with full tread. I immediately bought a set of snow tires for the vehicle. I again tried these tires in snow in November of 2025 after they had roughly 10,000 miles on them, and again found them to be the worst tires in snow that I have ever driven. I am concerned these were a mis-build.

Michelin Premier LTX 235/55R20 Premature wear First set was replaced 12/11/2019 with 27,952 miles on vehicle. Complaint is the second set checked on 7/23/2023 with 49,122 miles on vehicle or 21,170 miles on tires showing premature wear measuring 6.1 to 5.9 /32nds groove depth. Tires are not going to make the 60,000 miles wear rating expected for such an expensive tire. Tires are rotated when vehicle is serviced, alignment was checked before installing new tires.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire Line: Dueler H/L Alenza Plus, Tire Size: P255/55/R20. The contact stated that rear driver’s side tire had continually experienced the loss of air pressure. While the vehicle was in for service, the mechanic stated that all the four tires were dry rotted and might continue to experience the failure. The contact stated that the tires were purchased new in 2021. The local dealer was contacted regarding the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

235/65R18 all 4 tires worn down after 27,000 miles, suppose to have 60,000 mile tread life. took my Acadia into the dealer for regular oil change and was informed all 4 tires were worn passed the safety margin. He told me there was a service bulletin about the tires but since my warranty had run out there was nothing he could do. He never mentioned the service warranty or that the tires were wearing severly.

GM issued Special coverage N192210240 for repair/replacement of the evaporative emissions purge valve because it may not fully close. The special coverage states that the dealer is to replace the part at no cost to the customer as necessary until 150,000 miles or 11/12/2026 whichever occurs first. Since owning the vehicle in question I have had this particular part replaced three (3) times, approximately every 20,000 miles. Each time this particular part fails my check engine light is illuminated, my vehicle stalls immediately after refueling, my garage and home quickly fill with emission fumes upon starting the vehicle, and the vehicle idles rough when stopping. The GM dealership replaced the part the first 2 times it failed at no cost to me stating that it was covered under GM Special Coverage, but the third and most recent time refused to honor the special coverage. They, instead, stated that I had to pay $189.99 for a diagnostic in addition to the cost of the repair despite the fact that my vehicle was still within the special coverage parameters and the special coverage bulletin states "as necessary" . The dealership stated that the special coverage was only a one-time use, and I was to pay for repairs each additional occurrence. There is clearly an issue with this part, and GM has acknowledged that by offering the special coverage. This coverage should be valid for the entire time stated because this is clearly a faulty part.

WE PURCHASED A 2017 ACADIA AWD SLT ON DECEMBER 28, 2017. THERE WAS A RECALL ON GM BULLETIN #19-NA-206 FOR (SHIFT TO PARK) ISSUE. DEALER MICHAEL HOHL GMC 3700 S CARSON ST, CARSON CITY, NV 89701 ORDERED PART BUT WAS NOT INSTALLED UNTIL 1/13/20. DAY AFTER REPAIRS, FUELED CAR AND GAS GAUGE WOULD SHOW THREE QUARTERS FULL. THE FUEL RANGE ALSO BOUNCES UP AND DOWN AND IS NOT ACCURATE. IS THIS A GM RECALL ISSUE? MY CAR IS NOW OUT OF THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY TO REPAIR THIS GAS GAUGE PROBLEM. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT WE MIGHT RUN OUT OF FUEL DUE TO FAULTY GAS GAUGE READING OR WAS THIS A PROBLEM CREATED BY R/R IN-LINE SHIFTER WIRE HARNESS JUMPER. THE GAS GAUGE INDICATOR SHOWED 90 MILES UNTIL EMPTY, BUT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. THIS OURRED DURING A FAMILY TRIP FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Vehicle went on fire in or near the engine compartment - the entire front end was burned and car is a total loss. I was in the vehicle driving home with my children (a 5 min drive from their school) and we smelled what we assumed was a a fire pit or fireplace burning nearby; we got out of the vehicle, within 90 seconds there were flames coming out of the hood. Car was well maintained and received nearly all service at the RVC GMC dealership it was purchased from. Vehicle was also still under the warranty we purchased.

COULD NOT EVEN TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON TO WARN TRAFFIC THAT WAS COMING UP BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY! THE VEHICLE REMAINED LIKE THIS FOR 10-15 MINUTES! While highway driving, engine suddenly lost power and car could not exceed 5 mph. Was able to get off at next exit and get to a local garage. Mechanic inspected. Bolt connecting high pressure fuel pump to cylinder sheared off leaving bolt body in cylinder, bending fuel pump and caused oil to spray over entire engine compartment. Repair unlikely. Engine will likely need to be replaced. Car has always been maintained. No indication of failure prior to incident.

Vehicle will apply breaks abruptly on its own whenever it thinks a vehicle is too close. Was in traffic and it kept slamming on the breaks as I would try and move forward. Will slam on the breaks whenever I attempt to just slow down during the course of driving. Was on the highway and anytime I pressed the breaks to slow down, automatic breaks would slam down breaks on its own. Drove vehicle right to dealership as the was a major safety issue for me especially with my baby in the car.

THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, EVEN WITH NO OTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD OR OBSTACLES IN THE ROAD. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE ACC WILL SHUT OFF, YOU WILL HEAR TWO DISTINCT CHIMES AND YOU WILL SEE A MESSAGE SAYING, 'ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED'. AFTER THIS HAPPENS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REENGAGE THE ACC AND IF YOU TRY THE VEHICLE WILL DISPLAY A MESSAGE THAT SAYS 'TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE.' I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY HAVE STATED THEY DON'T KNOW WHY IT WOULD HAPPEN, AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN DUPLICATE IT. IN THIS INSTANCE THERE WERE NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR ON EITHER SIDE, BUT THERE WAS ONE BEHIND ME WHO I AM SURE WAS NOT HAPPY WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM BRAKED FOR NO REASON. A GMC REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME I CAN HAVE ALL THE VIDEO I WANT, BUT IT 'DOESN'T MATTER AND WON'T CHANGE ANYTHING'. THE DEALERSHIP DID DO A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC ON ONE OCCASION AND FOUND EVIDENCE THAT THE ACC HAD SHUT OFF, BUT THE CODE DID NOT SAY WHY IT SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS RANGE FROM 55 TO 75 MPH. WE HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN THREE TIMES IN A 30 MINUTE PERIOD AND DROVE FOR A MONTH WITHOUT IT HAPPENING. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND SHOULD BE FIXED OR THE VEHICLE REPLACED. I HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS, BUT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OF US TO WARRANT GMC DOING ANYTHING.

I BROUGHT IT IN TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT A COUPLE MONTHS AGO BECAUSE THE ACCELERATOR WOULD ACCELERATE WITH OUT ME PUSHING THE GAS EVEN SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES WOULD GET TO 85 90 MILES AN HOUR. FINALLY GOT IT OFF THE ROAD AND OFF HUGE QUANTITIES OF WHITE SMOKE FROM THE BRAKES BEING SO HOT. ASSURED ME IT WAS FIXED AND LAST NIGHT IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC DID IT AGAIN. ALMOST GOT ME KILLED. The contact applied full pressure to the brake pedal, and the vehicle stopped. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with brake vacuum pump failure. Additionally, the contact was informed that the brake vacuum pump had fractured, and a part of the brake vacuum pump had lodged into the engine. The contact was informed that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The rear knuckles have a casting defect that does not allow the lower most forward control arm bolt to be tightened fully. This causes the bolt to be 1/8” from being fully tightened. After removing the casting defect you are able to tighten the bolt fully. The bolt broke off in the knuckle causing the tire to point away from the body at a 45 degree angle. If my wife was on the interstate doing 60 when this happened it could have been life threatening but she was only doing about 10 when it snapped.

DEALER REPAIR SHOP COULD NOT DIAGNOSIS ISSUE HOWEVER THERE IS A REPAIR BULLETIN PUBLISHED ON THIS ISSUE AT GMREPAIRINSIGHTS.COM WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THE SUSPENSION OF THIS CAR AND OTHER SIMILAR MODELS. THE DEFECT AS DESCRIBED IN THE REPAIR BULLETIN MAY LEAD TO MECHANICAL FAILURE OF IMPORTANT PART OF SUSPENSION WHICH COULD LEAD TO INJURIES OR HARM TO OTHER DRIVERS. I SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT ON 12.28.2022 AND THE DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM.

Vehicle will randomly drop into a lower gear which causes the engine to rev up, then a warning light comes on indicating that the steering assist and ABS system are offline. Not what you want to have happen when driving 70MPH on the highway. Problem has been ongoing for ytears and GMC insists it is a transmission problem but another thing I have noticed whenever it happens is that the battery voltage increases. Seems like GMC shipped these cars with weak alternators which would explain the myriad electrical problems this vehicle and others like it have had.

Service side detection system warning is on and upon investigation and diagnostics it has been widely reported as a common issue that GMC only chose to address for a select number of vehicles. I have 93k miles and there is a service agreement to 80k. Others have indicated that it not fixed it can send bad signals to circuit board causing battery failure, information system failure, dash light failure and headlight failure making this a safety issue is something like this occurs in the dark. As a result I am concerned for my safety and am frustrated that GMC is not required to fix this issue.

P0128 Apparently what happens when the temp sensor on the T-Stat housing goes bad it sends a signal to the ECM that the engine is overheating, causes the temp gauge to peg to "C", shuts down A/C Compressor Clutch engagement to not exacerbate the Overheat condition and super speeds the cooling fans. Of course it's a false flag warning and the engine isn't actually running hot. At the same time a signal to the ECM also tells the Power Steering Rack that it's Super Cold out and the lube in the steering system may freeze up causing loss of steering assist. NHTSA 17-NA-158 - MAY 2017 Needed to have Thermostat and Temperature sensor replaced. Was quoted by two dealers $1400-$1700. Very deceiving for GM to have SEVERAL "tech bulletins" advising their techs how to properly diagnose this common "error"... but it's not a recall so they won't foot the bill for what is clearly a defect. My vehicle has serious issues that from my research seem to be a common problem/manufacturer defect experienced by other owners of this model. I believe the defect/issue is an electrical problem. While driving, the vehicle will often have problems using it's automatic transmission. It ranges from "rough" shifting (where the car jerks while shifting gears) to situation where the vehicle fails to shift gears completely leading to the RPMs shooting up. The cars power steering and traction control system also simultaneously fail. This leads to a dangerous situation when on highways etc This issue simultaneously causes all of the warning lights on the dashboard to light up while displaying the following messages on screen "Service stabilitrak" & "steering assist reduced -drive with care" & "service brake assist" & "service parking brake". The gauges also stop responding/reflecting accurate info when this happens. I have a video of what this all looks like. This has been on ongoing intermittent problem pretty much for the entire life of the vehicle. GMC informed me that they had never heard of this when I inquired about it a dealership but searching online makes it incredibly clear that this is an extremely widespread issue that they are aware of. I have also attached a file that has a list of all error codes detected by me for this vehicle.

LESS THAN 30 DAYS OF TAKING POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW, WE NOTED A WHINE WHEN YOU TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. WE BROUGHT THE VEH IN TO DEALERSHP AND IT WAS REPORTED THE AIRBAG COIL WAS WRAPPED AROUND STEERING COLUMN CAUSING THE NOISE. THE COIL WAS REPLACED AND VEH RETURNED TO ME. WITHIN 24 HOURS THE NOISE RETURNED. THIS TIME THEY DETERMINED IT WAS THE FRONT LEFT STRUT AND REPLACED. A BRAND NEW VEHICLE SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW STRUT. The side detection alarms kept beeping regardless of any location on the road or in my own driveway. Now I have a "service side detection module failure" warning on the dashboard. Estimates on repair have been in the $800 range and after having spoken to many GMC owners, several have had the same problem. Some have made the repairs, others have not due to the cost.

THE SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT SYSTEM FAILED LAST YEAR AND CAUSED THE CAR TO DIE AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE SIDE BLIND ZONE SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND REPLACED THE MODULE AND SENSORS. A LITTLE OVER A YEAR LATER AND THE SYSTEM IS DOING THE SAME THING. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE MODULE AND SENSORS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE MY PROBLEM, GMC HAS CREATED A FAULTY SENSOR SYSTEM AND NOW CONSUMERS ARE HAVING TO DISH OUT 700 PLUS DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR. THERE IS A 'BULLETIN' THAT CONVENIENTLY DOES NOT COVER AL VIN NUMBERS MINE INCLUDED! HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE IF IT'S THE SAME FAULTY SYSTEM? THE PASSENGER WIPER BLADE DOES NOT COVER SUFFICIENT AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD TO PERMIT THE PASSENGER TO SEE THE 'RIGHT' PORTION OF THE ROAD. THE UNWIPED AREA ACCUMULATES DIRT AND ADDS TO THE VISUAL OBSTRUCTION OF FALLING RAIN. AN UNBELIEVABLE VISUAL DISTORTION OF THE ROAD RESULTS. I AM 70 AND AM APPALLED AT THE LACK OF WIPER COVERAGE IN A CRITICAL PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD FOR THE PASSENGER. MOST PASSENGERS ASSIST THE DRIVER IN THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE BY CALLING ATTENTION TO IMPENDING PROBLEMS. THEIR CONTRIBUTION IS LIMITED IN THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE POOR WIPER COVERAGE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE PORTION OF THE CAR ABOVE THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS MOVED IN ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR BY DESIGN CHANGE. THE NORMAL SWATH OF THE PASSENGER WIPER FOR A FULL WIDTH CAR DOESL NOT WORK WITH THIS REDESIGN. THE PASSENGER WIPER PIVOT POINT SHOULD BE CLOSER TO THE FRONT OF THE PASSENGER AND WIPE TO THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD. HELP !!! THIS WIPER SITUATION IS REALLY AWFUL, UNNECESSARY, AND FATIGUING TO THE PASSENGER. When I’m driving a warning comes on my DIC screen that says “ACTION REQUIRED STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE”. The AC does not work and the temp gauge goes to cold with the radiator fan blowing at full speed. My car has done this since I purchased it used in 2019 and when I call dealer they say there is no recall and 1200-1800 to replace a sensor and thermostate. I have not had the issue fixed yet.

Side Detection Malfunction Message on Dash. Blind spot and cross traffic alerts not working. Vehicle has a blind spot on the driver's side and without this alert, I have found that vehicles appear to not be there but actually which causes issues with merging traffic and lane changes leading to potential collisions. Dealer replaced the side detection modules under warranty and special policy because of water intrusion into the modules. This exact same symptoms and parts have occurred and replaced 5 times, and a 6th is currently needed. All work was performed exclusively at GMAC dealer and vehicle is accident free. GM issued a special policy that covered this specific repair, and the vehicle now needs to it done a 6th time and GM has refused to assist saying vehicle is out of special policy. I have requested that GM inspect the vehicle but no response. I contacted GM and they declined assistance. I currently have the feature turned off because it was providing an error message on the dash and false alerts. I don't believe that GM actually has a long-term fix for this safety issue. While driving at highway speeds, a warning appeared on the Driver Information Center (DIC): “Steering Assist is Reduced – Drive with Care.” Simultaneously, the temperature gauge was stuck on “C,” the radiator cooling fan ran at high speed, and the air conditioning stopped blowing cold air. After researching the issue, I discovered that these symptoms are commonly linked to a failing thermostat—a known and widespread problem with GM’s 3.6L LGX engine. Unfortunately, replacing the thermostat on this engine is not a simple repair, often requiring significant labor and cost. The most concerning aspect is the loss of steering assist, which poses a serious safety risk, especially at highway speeds. Given the frequency of this issue across many GM vehicles, it’s clear that this is a defective part and not an isolated incident. GM should take responsibility and cover the cost of repairs for affected vehicles. This is not just a mechanical failure—it’s a safety hazard that deserves immediate attention. I'm attaching a picture of the message as well a paid repair invoice from the work the dealer performed to replace the thermostat on my vehicle.

Cannot shift out of park and the AC stops working. Seat are working at moment. It’s all intermittent. Currently dealer will not help me. No warranty anymore. Im on a site where thousands of gmc’s have this same problem. Im gonna have to bring back to another dealer but no one can figure it out how to fix this. I sent my last bill. I also had one before that with the shifter assembly and solenoid replaced. I cannot find at moment

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10-15 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormally loud blower motor sound while accelerating, before the vehicle lost motive power. The transmission was shifted to neutral(N) and pushed to the side of the roadway. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission clutch had failed, and the transmission needed to be rebuilt or replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed there was no recall coverage or warranty coverage on the VIN for the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

I’m just reporting several known issues. First, with code P2138, which I got today at Oreilly after my car started throwing warnings. I used my parking brake briefly and afterwards got the following warnings on my car: “Steering Assist is Reduced, Drive with care”, “Engine power reduced” , “Propulsion Power is reduced” , “Service Parking Brake”. I’ve never even had one of these warnings. I’ve only gotten “shift to park” which is another known & common issue. With this P2138 code, it can affect acceleration and essentially loss of control over it, but seems I suddenly have several issues. Recently the infotainment system is possessed, touch screen stops working, it calls people by itself, beeps and scrolls by itself and is essentially useless. Might as well be driving at 1997 something or other, at least I could play a tape or CD. This is Denali trim at 87K miles. Primarily though I’m concerned with this code, if it’s legit, it is very dangerous. How unreliable and unsafe to not know.

Shift to park. Vehicle does not turn off when in park. This recall is in effect on other 2017 Acadias but for some reason ours is not under the recall. Had this issue in 2020 and it was repaired at our cost. It is now doing the same thing.

The front drive car seat motor is damaged. It will not recline making it very uncomfortable to drive. GMC has inspected the car and indicated that i need a new motor and seat frame. The cost is over 2600. Child safety is ultimately at risk if the driver is not fully comfortable at the wheel.

Within a day of taking possession of the car, September 20, 2024, with odometer reading 76,352 , warning message in instrument cluster appears stating action required “steering assist is reduced, drive with care”. Following day, A/C stop working while driving. When park, I can hear radiator fan, running full speed (louder than normal). While driving at night, headlights are not bright, specially the high beam. On September 23, 2024, took it back to dealership I purchased the vehicle. They have the vehicle in the shop to fix the issues. Vehicle was ready for pick up September 27, 2024. September 29, 2024. Message in instrument cluster screen re-appear stating “Action required, steering assist reduced drive with care”; check engine light came on, remote start key not working, A/C stop working again, radiator fan running full speed and loud , Headlights are still not bright, Infotainment screen glitching, will not stay in home button and making clicking sound. Went back to dealership so that they can fix it. Diagnostic code : P0128. They were able to have A/C working when I left the shop. and no messages on the instrument cluster. Following day, I have all the same issues I have before. My appointment to come back in to the shop to fix the thermostat issue I was October 10, 2024, on October 9, additional problems occur on top of the issue I am having. While driving and accelerating multiple lights on the instrument cluster screen appears on top of other issues and car decelerates. The check engine light came on, steering assist reduced drive with care , parking brake, car stability comes on and message stating engine power is reduced. This happened while driving on a highway at night on my way to work. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership..

Bought vehicle used/as is from dealer about a month after air bag recall announced in 2023. Found out it is apparently illegal to sell a vehicle with an open recall. Dealer did not disclose the recall and I did not research unfortunately. It's been over a year now since air bag was recalled and still no fix and I live in a very hot state. Should never take this long to fix something so dangerous - FATAL. Lives are possibly at stake!!! Also had to replace temp sensor which cost about $1,000. A/C wasn't working properly. Mechanic said they had to replace the temp sensor. Research shows this is a known issue. Also have had to replace O2 sensors and might have catalytic convertor issue.

I was traveling at the posted speed limit of 80 mph on [XXX] in South Dakota at [XXX] and the GMC Acadia was working without any issue when all of a sudden various warnings flashed on the dashboard with one of them being power saver mode engaged. Within about 3 minutes various other warnings flashed and the vehicle motor turned off along with all of the electrical systems. Luckily, I was able to maneuver the GMC Acadia to the shoulder of the highway safely. The vehicle would not start and for about a minute or so we were trapped in the Acadia. We could not unlock the doors or wind down the windows until I pressed the start/stop bottom several times. Onstar did not work either. Once we could get out of the Acadia, my wife called 911 and in roughly 20 minutes or so, a police officer arrived at our location. We also called AAA and had a tow truck take the broken down GMC Acadia to a garage for repairs. It turns out that the alternator went bad and rendered our GMC Acadia useless in roughly 3 minutes from the initial warning. There was absolutely none of the tell tale warnings of a bad alternator. We did not see or observe any dim lights, hesitating starts or any other things associated with a bad alternator prior to the 3 minute warning before the vehicle completely was inoperable. We are very lucky to be alive. If [XXX] was more congested with traffic at the time of this incident, we might have been serious injured if not killed. IMO this GMC Acadia is a death trap. This vehicle warns the driver when the key fob’s battery is low many weeks before it needs to be replaced. It should warn you more than 3 minutes if not several hours prior to the vehicle being completely immobilized. It should be noted that the check engine light came on several hours before this incident and I called Onstar and they ran the diagnostics and returned a P0420 code which is related to emissions. I believe my vehicle has a software issue, the temperature gauge will read cold, I will get a “Steering assist reduced drive with caution” message, my A/C stops working, and the radiator fans come on full blast the moment you start the car because the temperature can not be read. I have read online forums where others are having this same exact issue. Resetting the codes seems to temporarily fix the issue, but it comes back within roughly 2 weeks. This vehicle has not even reached 60k miles yet.

Went to Burt Watson the end of May. Paid $250 to diagnose 3 problems. Trans was intermittently kicking into passing gear when starting from a stop position, a service engine light and passenger side blind spot warning would come on when nothing was there and other times wouldn't recognize a vehicle was there. Around the middle of July the battery began draining intermittently leaving me stranded at night away from home. The rear defogger began turning itself on and couldn't be shut off and was very hot to the touch. The drivers seat moved all the way forward on its own pressing me into the steering wheel and dash while I was driving at highway speed. Forcing me to change 2 lanes of traffic trying to get to the side of the road.I was told by the service manager that the rear fuse block had shorted out do to water intrusion from bad drain ports. This was replaced, and then I was told something else was draining the battery. And this was "one " of the things not covered by warranty. There is a service bulletin stating that there may be pinholes at the top of the a-pillars and d-pillars yet the dealership stated a new windshield was needed. There are several service bulletins indicating that such leaks can reek havoc on the electronics. The dealership has changed their estimate several times with still no solution in site. The vehicle has been sitting at the dealership since July. At one point it was communicated to me that GM would assist in the cost of the repairs when and if job was ever completed.They are now stating the cost to repair the issues is $5500.00 and is my responsibility.

I parked uphill on my driveway and put car in park to drop off groceries . My trunk didn’t not open which usually only happens when vehicle is in drive. I felt my car begin to move so I jumped in to discover dash said shift to park. This is major safety issue and happens quite often now. Under this circumstance vehicle can’t turn off. Had to replace battery for always draining. Also seatbelts in back seat and passenger seat do not buckle. There was a recall at one point however it disappeared from my dash board and now reads as completed however I never had the opportunity to correct the recall.

I bought my vehicle in 2020. In 2019, there was a special coverage notice (N172097060) with part repair because of known service side detection issues for water module intrusion. My understanding is this is due to the poor design and placement of the item in the rear of the vehicle that is known for getting water in it when driving, which then impacts the entire electronic system (not just service side detection). Beginning in spring 2023, I began to have these issues, starting with service side detection first. I then had other major electrical issues connected to this issue I believe are a safety concern. I have had very scary episodes at high speeds of my entire car electronic system shutting down, speedometer going to zero, gas going to empty, glitching and not starting multiple times. It got to the point my entire car was not drivable due to this issue - the dealer has a temporary fix on it to allow it to continue to be drivable until parts are in. The dealer has confirmed the issue I am experiencing is this safety special coverage issue from 2019. I contacted the dealer I bought my car from and they stated they did the special coverage fix in 2019. They confirm this issue is occurring again. However, they claim that because it was fixed in 2019, I am responsible for paying and fixing it this time around. The issue was not resolved and I believe this is a huge safety issue that should be a recall, not just a special coverage. It was very scary driving on a highway with my children in tow and having my entire system go out at a high speed. It has been inconvenient, parts are supposedly on backorder and being told it's my responsibility to cover it when it's a known issue. I have also found online many other owners having this issue. The special coverage did not fix it if water continues to get into the module and continues to generate these issues again. I appreciate any assistance on this matter and thank you for your time!

GM put out notice in April 2019 stating side blind zone alert message due to water intrusion May cause issue with driver interface functions. Do not take your vehicle to dealership unless you believe there is a problem. Reimbursement by 4/30/2020 6 years 80,000 miles. Vehicle stopped working while parked in driveway. No start, no cranking, warning lights for security lock out, side crash detection, tire monitoring service and airbags displayed. Dome light for front door did not work while second row lights did work. Lift gate would not open. When stating issues to dealer prior to service were told they had not heard of anything that would stop a cars engine from functioning. Dealership repair stated this was due to rear blind side detection module and that the module shorted out cause all other circuits to go to ground, yet no fuses were blown. Starter fuse and relays were good. I asked dealer if this could have caused my car to stop while driving and they answered yes. Have corroded module and wire loom referee to as kit. Was told no way to circumvent system other than replacement.

Shift to park error code along with several other error codes including no remote detected that have continually and intermittentantly appeared since my car was at 16 K miles. My car has been in the shop over 10 times and these problems continue to return. my car won't shut off correctly, and this drains the battery. On 2 different occasions I was locked inside my car, unable to start it. Both of those times the outside temperature was over 100 degrees, and I almost had to break my window to exit and survive. I frantically pushed several buttons, trying to start the car, and luckily something tripped so I could open my car. The dealership replaced my battery twice before 31 K miles. They have replaced 2 different fobs when the car didn't recognize them. The dealership has replaced the transmission control assembly, the body control module, the fuel injector, the immobolizer control module, the brake control module, and my car has currently been in the shop for over 3 weeks as they may also need to replace the instrument control module and HVAC module due to those error codes. My car is at 46 K miles and has been in the shop 3 different times since 39 K (less than 10 K miles) all for similar problems. Thankfully I bought the extended warranty that will expire in 2 years. Something is draining the battery and GMC cannot or will not address the problem. At roughly 50,000 there is a transmission line leak in the vehicle. GM has already recalled 2018-2020 model-year GMC Acadia SUVs and other models for this problem due to risk of fire. Whether it is the same cause or not, such a problem leads to the same risk.

I brought this car from STOOPS and have been having this same issue since I received this car in March of 2021. Check engine came on within two weeks of me getting this car. The Intake air pressure measurement system MAP sensor and MAF sensor on my 2017 GMC Acadia which is causing other issues. My car is only at 100k mikes and I shouldnt be having the same issue. The MAP sensor was replaced in July of 2021. Here it is a year later and my check engine light keeps coming on and saying the same thing which is causing all these other issues to happen such as steering power system reduced which driving. Notifications about of transmission and engine issues because of Intake Air Pressure Measurement System. Every time I take it to stoops they have it for a couple days and I’m out of a car which means no transportation for work and within 10 days after I get it back the same issue appears. The car sounds like it’s going to shut off at any given time I’m driving. It shutters while at a light or in a restaurant line. It drives smooth but when I shut the car off it makes a whiny noise sometimes. I don’t feel safe driving myself and my kids in the car when different things come up all because of this intake air pressure measurement system issue

This vehicle has twice had parts replaced for the "Shift to Park" issue detailed in GM TSB 19-NA-206. The first incident was in April 2019, and it was repaired under warranty at about 24,800 miles. The second incident was this past week at about 50,800 miles, and this repair cost almost $800 to fix. I contacted GM customer support and was told that I could not get any reimbursement because there was no special coverage or recall for this known problem. This is completely unacceptable, since the problem is clearly a defect in parts manufacturing or assembly, and it renders the vehicle completely unusable since it is impossible to turn the car off when the car does not recognize that the shifter is in park. This is a safety issue because the driver needs to be certain whether or not the vehicle is securely parked before leaving the vehicle.

THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THIS CAR HAS BEEN GOING OFF AND ON SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2017. EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY INITIALLY CLAIMED THE SENSORS WERE UNPLUGGED AS A RESULT OF MOVING THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH. THIS IS WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO PARK, HOWEVER, AN ERROR INDICATOR DISPLAYS SAYING THE CAR NEEDS TO BE SHIFTED TO PARK TO TURN OFF, EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN PARK. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE MANIFOLD 2 YEARS AGO AND NOW THE PROBLEM IS RESURFACING.

TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAD ALL COMPONENTS REPLACED, HOWEVER THEY INFORMATION ME THAT THIS WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE PARTS ARE MADE INCORRECTLY, SO UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AT SOME POINT. MY SECOND ISSUE WITH THE ACADIA IS WHEN YOU ARE IN CRUSE CONTROL, THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY APPLY THE BREAKS (ABRUPTLY AND HARD) FOR NO REASON. WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY OR FREEWAY APPROXIMATELY 35-70 MPH, MY GMC ACADIA WILL RANDOMLY DISABLE THE STEERING ASSIST, LANE KEEP ASSIST, AND FORWARD COLLISION AUTOMATIC BRAKING AS WELL AS DISABLE THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE. THE ERROR WOULD SHOW THAT THESE FEATURES WERE DISABLED ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN AROUND THE SPEEDOMETER AND COULD NOT MANUALLY BE RE-ENABLED WITH THE BUTTONS THROUGHOUT THE CAR. HOWEVER, WHEN PULLING OVER AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT, THE FEATURE WOULD RESET AS IF NOTHING HAS WENT WRONG. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HORN DID NOT WORK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAXON BUICK GMC (2301 U.S. 22, UNION, NJ 07083, (908) 964-1900). THE DEALER DUPLICATED THE FAILURE AND CONSULTED WITH THE CHIEF ENGINEER OF THE GMC MANUFACTURER WHO RECOMMENDED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BE REPLACED WITH A CUSTOM-MADE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAITED FOR FEEDBACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500.

HORN IS SO HARD TO PUSH NO ONE IN MY FAMILY CAN SOUND HORN GUYS AT DEALER COULD NOT GET IT TO SOUND WITHOUT EXCESSIVE FORCE THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS NO ONE AT THE DEALER OR GMC WILL FIX IT THEY SAY IT WAS THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED AGAIN VERY DANGEROUS SOME ONE NEEDS TO FIX THIS FLAW BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO SOUND HORN TO AVOID COLLISION I WOULD HAVE NEVER IMAGED BUYING A BRAND NEW CAR I WOULD HAVE UNRESOLVED SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE ANSWER FROM GMC AND THE DEALER BEING WE AREN'T FIXING IT SO I GUESS YOU SHOULDN'T DRIVE IT THAT'S THE FIX NOT TO DRIVE MY ONE AND ONLY BRAND NEW CAR HOW ABOUT GMC OR THE DEALER MAKING MY BRAND NEW CAR SAFE AND FIXING THEIR PROBLEM!!!!! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS HORN

THE 2017 GMC ACADIA HORN TAKES AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF FORCE TO ENGAGE. THIS HAS BEEN NOTED BY SEVERAL USERS. MY SPOUSE HAD A SEMI TRUCK COME INTO HER LANE A DAY AGO AND COULD NOT GET HORN TO SOUND TO WARN OTHER DRIVER. GMC DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED AND SAID ITS JUST THE WAY THE ASSEMBLY WORKS IN THIS MODEL. I BELIEVE THIS REPRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT MAKES THE HORN UNUSABLE WHEN YOU NEED IT QUICKLY AND WITHOUT TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. GM IS SAYING TO BAD.

STATIONARY, NEW VEHICLE POSSIBLY INAPPROPRIATELY EQUIPPED. A VEHICLE WITH A 2ND ROW BENCH SEAT PROVIDING SEATING FOR 3 WITH A CENTER OCCUPANT SEAT BELT BUT WITHOUT HEAD RESTRAINT (AND NO PROVISION FOR HEAD RESTRAINT). I CANNOT SEEM TO DETERMINE IF SUCH A CONFIGURATION DOES OR DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS. I CANNOT DETERMINE, THEREFORE, WHETHER I AM OR AM NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO CARRY A PASSENGER IN THE MIDDLE (INBOARD) SEAT.

ADAPTIVE-CRUISE-CONTROL (ACC)/FORWARD COLLISION BRAKING(AVOIDANCE) SYSTEM APPLIED VERY STRONG BRAKES(TWICE) IN CERTAIN SCENARIO WHEN USING ACC, INCREASING THE CHANCES OF VEHICLE BEHIND REAR-ENDING. WHILE ACC IS ENABLED, SAY YOUR VEHICLE COMES TO FULLSTOP AS VEHICLE IN FRONT HAS COME TO A FULL STOP(SAY AT TRAFFIC SIGNAL) AND ACC APPLIES FULL BRAKES. TRAFFIC AHEAD STARTS MOVING AGAIN, BUT SINCE VEHICLE WON'T MOVE ON ITS OWN DRIVER IS REQUIRED TO PRESS ACCELERATOR TO GET IT MOVING AGAIN OR ACC TO RESUME ITS OPERATION (THIS IS BY DESIGN). IN SUCH SCENARIO IF DRIVER ENDS UP PUSHING ACCELERATOR A BIT HARDER(I.E. MORE THAN JUST TAPPING IT), ACC APPLIES VERY STRONG BRAKES STOPPING VEHICLE RIGHT THERE. BY THIS TIME VEHICLE BEHIND YOU HAS STARTED MOVING ALREADY AND MIGHT REAR-END DUE TO ABRUPT STOP. I GUESS ACC THINKS DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU AND VEHICLE AHEAD IS VERY LESS AND THINKS ITS GOING TO COLLIDE AND HENCE APPLIES STRONG BRAKES. BUT THIS IS A BAD DESIGN/PROGRAMMING SINCE IT EXPECTS DRIVER TO PUSH ACC. PEDAL FOR ACC TO RESUME OPERATIONS, BUT IF DRIVER DOES IT BIT MORE THAN WHAT ACC LIKES, THERE IS A CHANCE OF ACCIDENT. GM SHOULD PERFORM MORE TESTS WITH ITS ACC AROUND SUCH SCENARIOS AND FINE-TUNE THEIR ACC SOFTWARE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT TOOK A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF FORCE TO ENGAGE THE HORN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DESIGN OF THE HORN WAS NORMAL, AND NO FAILURE OR REPAIR WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.

HEARING RATTLE SOUND FROM 2ND AND 3RD ROW FROM DAY1 FOR 2017 GMC ACADIA DENALI. PRIMARY SOURCE SEEMS(SOMETHING INSIDE) SEATS IN 2ND ROW AND MAY BE 3RD ROW. RATTLE CAN BE HEARD WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR BAD ROAD PATCHES ON USUAL CITY ROADS. SEEMS WHENEVER VEHICLE GOES OVER A BAD ROAD PATCH, 2ND/3RD ROW SEATS VIBRATE A LOT AND RATTLE SOUND CAN BE HEARD. SOMETIMES I CAN HEAR SLIGHT RATTLE FROM AROUND PASSENGER SIDE 1ST ROW DOOR AS WELL.
