After restarting the vehicle and jiggling the gear shifter, the failure was corrected. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the gear shifter assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but while picking up her daughter from school, the gear shifter was shifted into park(P), and moments later, the vehicle started rolling backwards. The contact had to activate the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed back to the dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. I have been having issues with shift to park message for a yr now and it just gets worse and do not have the funds to pay for it myself bu5 see that it is a recall and gm is covering cost for other makes models of my same yr for same issue takes sometimes 20 minutes to mess with my shifter until I can finally park my car where it shuts completely off. This is a safety risk as 1 it could roll away if it isn't 2 my car could drain and die leaving me stranded by not turning off fully one time. This is ridiculous I called gm and all they just pushed me off I don't understand how this is not being taken serious especially knowing this is a known problem!

I have owned this vehicle less than 5 years and it has had the "Shift to Park" error 3 times and has now been replaced 3 times. The 2nd time was in August 2023 and yesterday it had to be replaced again. I don't understand how a part can fail this rapidly when the vehicle is only being driven approximately 10,000 miles per year. It only has 82,445 miles. I would like for GM to issue a recall for this issue or advise who the manufacturer is of the Switch part number 84955381 and Harness part number 84733196. The parts are not that expensive but the labor to replace was $ 462.50 and total parts was $ 55.56 on the invoice yesterday. As this is an ongoing issue I would like reimbursement. I am widowed and living on one income.

For the past 2 years I have been having a problem with the Shift to Park. It causes my vehicle to not turn completely off therefore draining the battery completely, I have gone through several new batteries because of this issue and has left me stranded needing to uber to purchase a new battery. Recently it started causing issues with my vehicles Antilock braking system and the stability control system although I don't know if they are all related but it is causing a hazard to drive around and it it the only vehicle I own.

The dealer and GM told me because my VIN wasn't in their recall range, they would not honor the recall. This has been happening since I purchased the car in 2018.

Component/System: Transmission selector / electrical system (“Shift to Park” defect) Yes, vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I own a 2018 GMC Acadia. Since I purchased the vehicle used in June 2019, the car has frequently displayed a “Shift to Park” message even when the vehicle is in park and the gear shifter is fully engaged. This message prevents the car from turning off completely, leaving electrical systems running, the ignition on, and draining the battery. This issue has persisted nearly daily for the past five years. I brought the vehicle to a GM dealership in September 2020, while it was still under factory warranty, but the problem was not diagnosed or repaired at the time. The dealership could not reproduce the issue, but it continued regularly afterward. I am now paying nearly $900 out of pocket to have it repaired. Safety Risks: The vehicle does not fully shut down, increasing risk of electrical malfunction or battery failure. I am often unsure whether the car is truly “off,” which could pose a fire hazard or lead to the car rolling unexpectedly if the system misreads the gear position. This defect has also caused me to get stuck in unsafe areas, repeatedly turning the car off and on, jiggling the shifter until the system registers park. The constant battery drain has left me stranded with a dead vehicle multiple times. Reproduction / Confirmation: The issue has been reproduced by an independent repair shop and will be fixed at my expense next week. A GM dealership inspected it in 2020 but failed to diagnose or confirm the issue at that time. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by a GM-authorized service center. Not inspected by police or insurance representatives. Warning Messages or Symptoms: The “Shift to Park” message appears on the dashboard even after the vehicle is correctly shifted into park. This began shortly after purchasing the vehicle in June 2019, worsened over time, & still has the inability to turn off properly.

Shift to park message has appeared again and the engine will not cut off. First happened in Feb 2020, mileage was 31,143. Took to Dealer and new wiring harness was installed. Had to take back to dealer April 2020 for same problem; shifter assembly was replaced at that time. Shift to park message came back on August 2023. Took back to Dealer and shifter harness replaced again and jumper harness was installed. Mileage was 52,993. Shift to park message has once again appeared, December 2025. Having to put car in park and push engine on/off button numerous times before engine will finally shut off.....sometimes having to unhook battery in order to kill the engine. This will be the fourth time we have had the same recurring issue repaired. My husband read through over half the 352 registered complaints and at least three fourths of them were all about the SHIFT TO PARK problem! As a female, I don't feel safe driving my Acadia not knowing if the engine will cut off or if it's actually in park or if the car will roll. Why can't GM fix this issue!!!!!! They should definitely be held accountable instead of ignoring the complaints!

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and restart daily and required to be jumpstarted. Additionally, while the transmission was shifted into park(P), the "Shift to Park" message was displayed, and the vehicle failed to turn off, causing the battery to become drained. Roadside Assistance was able to jumpstart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone and Firestone, where the battery and alternator were tested; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact purchased a battery jump starter to jumpstart the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to Pep Boys, where the alternator, battery, and starter were all tested, and it was determined that the engine switch had failed. Pep Boys advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 81,737.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia C1. The contact stated that his wife was parking in the driveway and upon shifting into the park gear, the vehicle sensor would not register that it was in park, therefore not allowing the engine to be shut off. The contact stated that his wife proceeded to turn the vehicle on and off while continuously shifting the gears until finally placing the shifter into park, and successfully turning the vehicle's engine off. The contact noted that his wife exited the vehicle; however that moments after a loud bang could be heard, and upon inspection, the contact noticed that the vehicle rolled into the garage with the entire front bumper. No property damage was reported. The vehicle came to a stop upon impact. The vehicle was going 3 MPH at the time of the crash. The vehicle did not need to be towed. No warning lights were illuminated however, the "Shift to Park" message will display on the instrument panel. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not destroyed. The local dealer was contacted however, the vehicle was not diagnosed as the contact was advised that the vehicles VIN was not included in any open recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

It's a problem that occurs when my Acadia fails to recognize that the gear shifter is in the park position. As a result, the car doesn't fully shut down, leaving the engine running. Unable to shut down vehicle if shift doesn't fully activate brake notice, and could be a safety issue if it truly doesn't park. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer or services to have the problem reproduced yet. It also has not been inspected yet, however, after doing research online, GMC did put a recall notifying owners that this may be a problem in vehicles from years 2017-2021. When I place the shifter into park, the car does not recognize it, and alerts me to put it into parking. It started appearing 2 months ago.

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER, THERE ARE TIMES THAT THE CAR DOESN'T REGISTER THAT IT IS IN PARK. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, THERE IS AN ALERT THAT COMES UP ON THE DISPLAY SAYING TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. IT ISN'T EVERY TIME THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF, BUT IT CAN SOMETIMES TAKE UP TO FOUR OR FIVE TRIES TO GET THE CAR TO REGISTER THAT IT IS IN PARK. I SHIFT TO PARK, TURN THE CAR OFF, GET THE ALERT. SO I TURN THE CAR BACK ON, SHIFT TO A DIFFERENT GEAR, AND THAN SHIFT PACK TO PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF. AND REPEAT THIS UNTIL I STOP GETTING THE ALERT. WHEN IT IS PUT IN PARK, THE CAR WILL SHIFT SLIGHTLY IF I GET THIS ERROR. I'VE STARTED USING MY EMERGENCY BREAK WHENEVER I GET OUT OF THE CAR TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WON'T ROLL.

Shift to park error notice comes up on dash when car it turned off and in park. Car is clearly in park, but error code “shift to park” appears on screen. Beeping occurs until car is turned off and shifted to R or D and then shifted back to park and turned off. This error happens several times a week, including twice today 6/22/24. I have to restart my vehicle and shift it to R or D then back to park SEVERAL times before the error is cleared.

GM has acknowledged that there is a "Shift to Park" problem with 2017 and 2018 GMC Acadia's. This design flaw/ part failure does not recognize that the vehicle is actually in "Park" so you cannot shut off the engine. In addition, the dash lights remain on which eventually drains the battery. Sometimes the car will roll as if it's in Neutral. GM is very aware of this problem. However, they do not have a permanent solution. GM should be required to issue a nationwide recall to correct the situation by totally disabling the electronic part. In six years of ownership, I've encountered this problem 3 times: 5-14-19, mileage 13,266, 1-27-21, mileage 29,381and most recently 5-30-24, mileage 65,057. This 3rd repair cost me $721.88.

Shift to park issue is getting worse. I couldn’t turn my car off for hours today. The recall is still pending for this and GMC is doing nothing after thousands of class action lawsuits and complaints. Keeping my car running for hours on end while in park because it won’t turn off is causing electrical issues and using tons of gas. I have to get with an attorney at this point because I can’t use my car lots of the times because I can’t leave it running and unlocked all day while I’m at work or at the store. It’s a MASSIVE safety issue. GMC needs to take accountability and fix these vehicles. This has been ongoing for 2 years now.

Had to replace the shifter, harness, and parking assist module to the tune of $1569.00! When it was put into park the system would not acknowledge it was in park...therefore I could not lock the vehicle and an alarm kept going off. My Acadia only has 12,000 miles on it...NO excuse for having to replace those parts with or without a warranty! Dealership said I am not the only one this has happened to...they have replaced a number of them!

A warning popped up on my dashboard stating "Power steering reduced. Drive with care." multiple times. Whenever the warning popped up, my air conditioning would stop working and my engine fan would run very loud. The warning would go off and back on over the course of a year. This started in the beginning of summer, 2024. On 4/3/25 I took it into an auto mechanic shop and after they looked at this warning, they confirmed that the thermostat has an issue where it gets stuck in the "open" position, therefore the thermostat isn't working properly and my car thinks it's over heating, when it's really not. If my car were to overheat while this thermostat wasn't working properly, my engine could overheat or worse. The thermostat part is being replaced today so after today, it won't be available for inspection upon request.

IT CAN TAKE ME ANYWHERE FROM 30 SECONDS TO 5 MINUTES TO JIGGLE IT THE RIGHT WAY TO GET IT TO REGISTER. PROBLEM IS UNTIL IT DOES REGISTER IN PARK I CAN'T SECURE THE VEHICLE. AND IT DINGS NONSTOP DRAINING THE BATTERY. I UNDERSTAND GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DOESN'T HAVE A FIX. IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION IN MY OPINION. Sold 2018 GMC Acadia by LEE GMC in auburn. Acadias shift to park was defective, dealership replaced before sale did not disclose, shift to park and transmission malfunctions occurred. I returned Acadia to the dealership several times and they would never properly fix or address my concerns now my vehicle is unsafe to drive. I have this 2018 Acadia where all of a sudden, at random, the radiator fan runs on high constantly, the AC stops blowing cold air, the thermostat gauge on the dash drops to the C, and the Power Assist is reduced and pops up as a message on the dash as well. Sounds like this may be a common problem among Acadia's. It resets at random and everything appears to be normal for a while. In addition, there are no check engine lights and no codes to check. I have had this happening for over a year and had a dealership service the car but never said mentioned it as a problem. So now that it's out of warranty my and has more frequent occurrences now I''m more aware but now it's out of warranty. It comes up on an Acadia Forum as a common issue. We own a 2018 GMC Acadia Denali. Upon shifting the vehicle into park, we cannot turn off the engine. The vehicle gives us a "Shift to Park" message on the instrument panel. As a result, we are unable to shut off our engine and, to avoid the battery running out, are forced to attempt to move the shift lever in and out of "Park" to get the car to detect that the shift lever is in fact in ‘Park.’”

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND DID NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN THE POWER OFF. SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE WOULD NOT GO AWAY EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY IN PARK. The warning light for a steering assist needs service came on the dash. The dealer had a code (po128) that pertained to a bad thermostat and coolant temp. sensor. The steering assist could have failed, along with possible engine damage. The dealer replaced the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor. Their were no police or insurance reports needed.

"STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED" This message appears on the instrument panel once in a while, and I have to get a mechanic to reset it. Many other people who drive the 2018 GMC Acadia, are reporting the same problem. This occurs so frequently on this model, that it obviously was a manufacturing design flaw.

Rear right hand lower suspension control arm broke in half, after further inspection it looks to have been separated from its original factory form which then cause uneven load on the arm causing it to fracture in half. The factory form separation seems to have been ongoing for unknown time due to surface rust is visible at the factory mold separation, where it snapped in half there is no surface rust. Fortunately it happened when I was only moving the vehicle to make space for another, the broken arm cause the wheel to turn to the right as if it was making a right hand turn and I can't imagine if it would have happened while driving in the city of even worse on the freeways... It would be a certain crash and safety for us and those driving around us. Last photo is from Amazon listing, I did order the part from another source that is a factory GM part and I am doing the repairs of replacing this myself as I am mechanically inclined. Thanks

Suspension did not meet yearly state inspection standards. Service advisor/technician stated “control arm bushing deteriorated- excessive play”. Rear control arms could be moved with hand pressure excessive play. They stated that this is a very common problem with this make of car at this mileage (41,633).

I have a 2018 GMC Acadia that is now displaying " shift to park " while the vehicle is in park. Upon extensive research I see GMC did issue a recall however, my particular VIN was not included. Its NOW displaying the error message which would lead me to believe it IS part of the recall. I called my local GMC dealership (Langhorne, PA.) and they said this was not covered since my VIN was not issues a recall.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while shifting the gear shifter into park(P), the "Shift to Park” message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was forced to shift from drive(D) to Park(P) repeatedly before the failure was corrected. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would become sticky with the "Steering Assist Reduced - Drive with Care," message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the infotainment system glitched and performed independent functions, causing the driver to be distracted. The contact stated that the infotainment system was replaced when the vehicle was purchased due to the failure; however, the failure recently recurred. Several occurrences where almost every time within 24 hours I use my cruise control and air conditioner at the same time my check engine light will come on as well as the stability trac indicator which then causes my air conditioner not to work and inability to start the vehicle due to having a check engine light on.

MY 2018 GMC ACADIA SLT-1 HAS BEEN HAVING ACCELERATION ISSUES LIKE SHUDDERING AND OR FEELS LIKE A FULL LOSS OF POWER , WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I'VE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM . I'VE ONLY TAKEN IT IN THIS 2ND TIME BECAUSE IT GOT WORSE AND SCARED ME THAT IT WOULD DIE ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALSO HAS HAD TO HAVE THE BATTERY CHARGED 3 TIMES IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS , YET THE DEALER SAYS THE BATTERY CHECKS GOOD. AT THE LEAST I BELIEVED SINCE ITS UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD CHANGE THE BATTERY IN THE CASE THE COMPUTER IS CAUSING ISSUES BASED ON BATTERY VOLTAGE. The transmission was failing to shift and jerking me forward in the vehicle. The check engine light came on. I was on the highway going at high speeds. Also, my vehicles Internet connection dropped. I pulled off the highway and turned off my vehicle. While starting my vehicle again and attempting to go into reverse, it would not reverse and it would not drive forward . It would just rev the RPMs. My vehicle has been sitting at the dealer for two weeks. They have not looked at it yet. The police were not called as there was not an accident, thankfully. The warning light came on as the vehicle was failing.

Shifting to park and vehicle stating the vehicle is not in park, won't let me turn the vehicle off. Transmission going out, brought to many shops letting me know that the transmission is not working properly but won't give an engine light if anything is wrong with vehicle, Wont show on readers what is wrong with vehicle. Electrical, Doors will automatically lock and unlock most times lock and locks me in the vehicle having me have to climb through the windows and having to leave my windows open or locks me out the vehicle and can only get in by climbing in the trunk. Testing has been done and brought to GM to figure out the issue, and they replace the computer in it but still has the problem. I have had shops tell me these are all huge issues that needs to have a recall because my vehicle is not the only GMC Acadia that does all this. How is any of this safe for me and my kids.

The shift to park in my 2018 GMC Acadia was faulty. On many occasions and randomly, the car would be in park but would not turn off, saying I needed to shift it to park in order to turn the car off. This has left me unable to turn my car off resulting in dead batteries and missed appointments and being late for work. This defect is well documented by GM in TSBs PIT5616A, 18-NA-297, and 19-NA-206, which describes the exact symptoms and repair that I had to have completed. This problem has been on going and as a teacher I cannot continue to be late for school because my car, though in park, would not turn off. Given GM’s prior acknowledgement of this defect, I believe reimbursement is warranted. I have never been notified of a recall on this.

When I put my vehicle in park, the message “shift to park” pops up. It has been doing this for well over a year. I have already had to replace a battery once due to this because I didn’t realize it was still on. It does not happen everytime I park but at random times. The more it happens, the longer it takes for it to go off. At this point, I can only hope my car is really in park. I jiggle the shifter, hit the “ +|- “ on the shifter and have to turn the vehicle off and on about five or six times. Eventually it will go off. It took me 20 minutes today for it to go off in 100 degree heat. The vehicle’s AC is not running when trying to get the shifter to go off. It keeps the electronics running but not the AC. I keep waiting to receive a recall on this vehicle because of this issue but still nothing. I have noticed there is a recall for this but not vehicle. I have already replaced one battery due to this issue and do not want to continue to replace batteries and worry if the vehicle is really in park or not.

Battery saver ignited comes on and and the entire dash flickers and turns off ! This happened in a middle of an intersection and I could move my car. We jumped it and went to the nearest auto zone replaced the battery . It was pulling 89 amps . The next day it popped up again and we replaced the alternator. Upon replacing this there was oil everywhere! And we don’t know where it is coming from . Now shift into part light comes on !

All of this has been going on for a while but it's gotten to the point of dangerous. The Shift to Park keeps coming on preventing me from shutting the vehicle off even though it's, in fact, in Park. Then, "Steering Assist Reduced Drive With Care" keeps coming on. This will come on and off. Preventing the engine from heating up like it needs to be. Then the transmission keeps slipping. Was nearly rear-ended on the highway with my child in the car when it decided to start driving really rough and wouldn't allow me to shift to the next gear. This is also an ongoing issue. Another time I was almost hit in the side when this randomly happened on crossing the highway. This is absolutely absurd! I have had MUCH older vehicles without all these issues with many many more miles! I can't count the amount of times this has caused us serious hazards not to mention almost costing me my JOB! Interestingly enough, the same year/make/model has been recalled for the exact same issues yet for whatever reason GMC says MY model "was not affected by the recall". Funny how it's having the EXACT same issues as the ones on the recall list! GMC needs to fix this before they cause people to die! I'm a healthcare worker and this is disgusting!

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the reduced engine power message was displayed. The RPM increased to high, and the engine revved. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V358000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

On July 26, 2024, I was driving my 2018 Acadia, with my cruise control set to 48 in a 45 MHP zone. Nearing a bad curve, I sneezed. When this happened, I tapped the brakes to disengage the cruise control, my passengers side tires exited the road and with both hands on the wheel I tried to slowly bring my tires back to the road. However, I was unable to gain control and totaled the vehicle. A witness stated that she heard a loud pop coming from the vehicle before the wreck happened. I later learned from my insurance that the vehicle had a Recall 17V516000 on it and I was never made aware of it. I believe that this was a factor in me not being able to control the vehicle.

Seemingly at random a warning will pop up on the driver dashboard “Steering assist is reduced at this time”. This will lead to a engine coolant temp reading of 0 degrees, no a/c and reduced steering functionality. Through further investigation the OBD code P0128 tells us it’s a faulty Thermostat or Thermostat sensor. Even if you get these parts replaced, the issue still comes back. I’ve seen these exact complaints at least a thousand times across multiple years of this model/make 2016,2017,2018,2019. This is clearly a manufacturers fault and needs a recall before people get hurt.

The thermostat housing fails and is a known issue which causes the car to overheat and they said it will start of fire or shut down and loss of steering assist. The dealerships know about the issue and GMC does nothing leaving people with large repair bills or inoperable cars. the system won't let me upload my receipts here is the part #12678780 I was told by the dealership this is a known issue and they my emissions warranty only covers the thermostat but not the housing, but that they are 1 piece, playing games.....

The car needs an PCM upgrade because it’s lit up a code in randomly situation. Causing the vehicle to lose the water temperature gage, power steering wheel assistance reduced and ac stop working, gmc is aware of the problem even issued a technical bulletin in 2018, but instead of inform the clients about the defective part, they want the client with this problem to pay to upgrade a defective PCM that came out from factory with problem. Note the power steering wheel assistance is part of the safety of the car. The problem always existed in the car, it toke me 2 years to find the problem.

Power steering reduces and the temperature gage wont work and the fan is extremely loud so it decreases the steering and increases the fan so it can cool down the engine. Others have submitted a recall form for this same problem

Electronic park brake failed to release, flashing park in red on my instrument cluster and after numerous attempts to release it the amber wrench sign also displayed . I could only get it to release after disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it after a few minutes lapsed. It has continued to do this as recent as last week around the 1st of June 2022.

Cars emergency brake locks up for no reason. Happened on several occasions but last instance burned out actuator and locked up calipers from just sitting on a hill with foot on brake. This is a huge safety issue when it locks up for no reason on a road. It’s stranded me at least twice because it’s hard to undue.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that upon depression of the brake pedal, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where she was informed that the brake pads and all four rotors needed to be replaced. The contact then called Brad Deery Motors (112 N. 2nd St, Maquoketa, IA 52060) and was informed to take the vehicle in to be diagnosed. The contact was then informed that only one of the rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact also stated that upon attempting to park the vehicle, the shift to park warning message would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had to repeatedly shift the vehicle in and out of the park before the vehicle would recognize the shifter in the park position. The manufacturer had been notified of the failures but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

I have numerous warnings, shift to park, steering, cross traffic, this endangers myself and anyone else around me, i have read several class action suits involving these problems and it could cause my vehicle to pose a danger, I have taken my vehicle in to a certified dealer and they state there is no known recalls associated with my vehicle which is strange because GMC knows that there are thousands of vehicles having the same problem, did I buy a lemon? These problems are clearly manufacture related and in no way normal wear and tare. I should not have to compensate these issues when I paid near 40,000 for it

I PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THE COMPUTER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE SO THE BELL COMES ON. I HAVE TO GO IN AND OUT OF PARK SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT ENGAGES. THIS OCCURS WHEN I AM TURNING THE ENGINE OFF, I FIRST PLACE IN PARK THEN PUSH THE IGNITION TO SHUT OFF. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS SINCE WE BOUGHT IT GAVE US TREMENDOUS PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING DURING A SNOWY DAY. BRAKES TYPICALLY DO NOT WORK, AT TIMES EVEN GOING THROUGH A RED LIGHT AND THANKFULLY NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. RECENTLY, THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM AND THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING WHILE UNDER A SNOW STORM. UNFORTUNATELY, WE TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST DELEARSHIP TO GET IT FIXED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE SNOW, BUT AFTER THE SNOW EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. UNFORTUNATELY, PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR A VEHICLE AND HAVE IT PARKED DURING THE WINTER, THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US. BECAUSE NOR THE DEALERSHIP OR GMC HAS DONE ANYTHING TO HELP. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED SINCE DECEMBER 2018, THE VEHICLE HAS 34500 MILES ON IT AND IS RELATIVELY NEW NOW, BUT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. IT IS OF OUR KNOWLEDGE THAT MANY PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. IT WOULD BE GOOD IF THEY ACCEPT THESE VEHICLES HAVE ISSUES AND CORRECT THEM PRIOR TO PROMOTING AND SELLING TO CUSTOMERS. SINCE THEY DID NOT CORRECT THESE ISSUES PRIOR TO SOME INDIVIDUALS TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE, THEY SHOULD WORK ON A SOLUTION VIA A RE-CALL TO AVOID ANY INJURIES TO FAMILIES OF THEIR VEHICLE'S OWNERS.

ON DECEMBER 5TH 2019, I ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK TO TAKE MY SON TO HIS DR. APT. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AROUND 10:30AM. I LEFT THE CAR ON SO MY SON WOULDN'T HAVE TO GO INTO A COLD CAR, BEING HE WAY SICK. I RAN INTO MY HOUSE WHERE MY MOTHER WAS WATCHING BOTH MY SONS. I SAID TO MY MOM, LET ME USE THE RESTROOM QUICKLY BEFORE I GET HIS COAT ON. I WAS NO MORE THAN 2 MINS. AS I STEPPED OUT THE BATHROOM, I HEAR MY HUSBAND SCREAMING FROM UP STAIRS THE CAR IS ON FIRE! HE COMES RUNNING DOWN THERE STAIRS AS FAST AS HE CAN, ALMOST INJURING HIMSELF BECAUSE HE DIDN'T SEE ME YET AND THOUGHT I WAS IN THE CAR! HE THEN SEES ME AND GRABS THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER. HE RUNS OUTSIDE TO TRY AND EXTINGUISH THE FIRE..AS I CALLED THE FRANKLIN SQUARE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND 911. BUT IN UNDER THE 5 MINS THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES! WE HAD TO THEN EVACUATE THE HOUSE BECAUSE THE GARAGE IS AN ATTACHED GARAGE AND THE CAR WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY OF THE GARAGE. MY POOR KIDS WERE FRIGHTENED FOR THEIR LIFE AS WE RUSHED THEM OUT THE HOUSE AS THEIR MOMMYS CAR WAS UP IN FLAMES..THEY WERE CRYING THEIR EYES OUT IN FEAR. THE FIRE CAUGHT ONTO THE TREE ON THE FRONT LAWN AS WELL AS DESTROYING THE GARAGE AND DRIVEWAY. I CRIED EXTENSIVELY THINKING OF THE WHAT IFS...WHAT IF I PUT MY SON AND I DIRECTLY INTO THE CAR, WITHOUT USING THE RESTROOM THAT DAY. WHAT IF THIS HAD OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS A DEATH TRAP THAT ALMOST TOOK MY LIFE AND MY FAMILY. WE FOUND THAT THEIR HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE GMC ACADIA FOR THE 2017-2018 EDITIONS. I HAVING A 2018, WHERE WAS MY NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL? WHERE WAS MY LETTER..EMAIL..CALL FROM GM? FIRST OF ALL, THIS ISSUE IS BEING REPORTED BY HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF GMC ACADIA OWNERS. I RECEIVED THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE MONTHS AGO WHILE IT STILL WAS UNDER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY AND THEN IT WENT AWAY UNTIL LAST WEEK. I GOT A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR WAS IN THE SHIFT POSITION. THIS CAUSED A NUMBER OF SECONDARY ISSUES THAT ARE NOW COMPROMISING THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. ONCE I AM ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON AFTER IT DRAINS OR KILLS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, I AM GETTING A NUMBER OF ISSUES. HOWEVER, THE ONES THAT CONCERN ME THE MOST ARE THE ROLLS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK, LOSS OF POWER STEERING, LOSS OF AWD, LOSS OF STABILITRACK, LOSS OF ABS, BRAKING SYSTEM ERROR AND POWER SURGES. THESE ARE THE MOST CONCERNING BUT I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH MY DASHBOARD, NAVIGATION, AND VEHICLE INSTRUMENTS. I CALLED THE GMC DEALER WHO HAD NO PROBLEM TELLING ME THE GEAR SHIFT BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHEN THEY CAN FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. WHAT REALLY DISTURBS ME IS THAT THERE ARE LAWSUITS GOING ON DEALING WITH THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AND THAT LITERALLY IT COMPROMISES THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND NEITHER GMC OR THE NHTSA HAVE ACTED ON THIS. I WAS DRIVING TODAY AND REALIZED HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS TO OPERATE A VEHICLE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. YOU CAN LITERALLY BE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE HAVE A POWER SURGE WHICH MAKES YOU LOSE CONTROL CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION IN THE GEAR SHIFT BOX. I AM ASSUMING THAT NO ONE WILL DUE ANYTHING UNTIL SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE EITHER KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF BECAUSE OF THE ERROR MESSAGE. IT TAKES SEVERAL TURNS OF SWITCHING THE CAR ON AND OFF AND FLIPPING THROUGH ALL THE GEARS IN ORDER FOR THE MESSAGE TO DISAPPEAR SO THAT THE CAR TURNS OFF. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 26 FOR REPAIRS AND HAS BEEN SITTING THERE OVER A MONTH BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE.

ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS, BOTH PARKED TURNED OFF AND RUNNING DOWN HIGHWAY, THE DASH LIGHTS LIT UP AND ALARMS CHIMED. CAR WOULDN'T START, NO COLD A/C. THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE DISPLAYED. CAR DIDN'T TURN AS WELL. COULDN'T SHIFT. AFTER DOING SO FOR A ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES IT WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL. THE ATTACHED PHOTO WAS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YOU'LL NOTICE IT DOESN'T MEASURE ANY RPM'S HOWEVER THE CAR IS MOVING ABOUT 40MPH

WATER LEAKING IN THREW BACK WINDOWS, SIDE WALLS , WATER COMING IN THERE PLASTIC IN DOORS BOTH FRONT AND BACK, WATER COMING IN BACK UP UNDER HEAD LINER. THIS ALL HAPPENING AFTER RAINFALL AND THE CAR WAS PARKED IN DRIVE. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 8,000 MILES ON IT PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN OCTOBER 2018 OFF SHOW ROOM FLOOR, I AM THE ONLY OWNER. I HAVE PICTURES TO SUPPORT ALL OF THIS AS WELL, INCLUDING WATER DAMAGE.

DRIVING AT NIGHT , IF IT IS RAINING, HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH. SO BAD IT'S LIKE THERE NOT ON. THESE PROJECTION LIGHTS ARE USELESS. I HAVE HAD TWO NEAR MISSES BECAUSE OR THIS PROBLEM THE OLDER STYLE LIGHTS WERE SO MUCH BETTER, MY TRUCK HAS THE OLDER STYLE H4 BULBS AND THEY ARE SO MUCH BRIGHTER.

THE SERVICE STABILTRAK NOTIFCATION KEEPS COMING ON AND SHUTTING OFF ON ITS OWN WHILE IN MOTION ON A STREET AND IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. IT HAS OCCURRED AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND SEVERAL TIMES WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE DRIVING.THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY AND IT DOESN'T SHOW IT EVEN CAME ON AT ALL. WHEN IN MOTION ON A STRRET GOING 46MPH THE CAR TRIED TO AUTO CORRECT PULLING ME OUT OF MY LANE BY ITSLEF. IT WAS A STRAIGHT STREET WITH NO CURVES WHERE THIS OCCURRED. THANK GOD THERE WASNT A CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME. THE SIDE MIRRORS RESET THEMSELVES ALL THE TIME. IF I MOVE THE SEAT AND THEN HIT THE MEMORY BUTTON SO IT WILL GO TO THE SET POSITION THE SEAT DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL. I HAVE HAD RENTAL CARS MORE THAN MY ACADIA THE PAST 2MONTHS WHILE THE DEALERSHIP TRYS TO GET THESE ISSUES FIXED. I LOVE THE CAR BUT AM GETTING MAD WITH ALL THESE ISSUES.

FRONT SUNROOF EXPLODED ON JULY 25, 2018. DRIVING DOWN ROAD HEARD LOUD GUN SHOT LIKE SOUND AND THE GLASS STARTED POURING IN. MOST THE GLASS WENT TO THE BACK SEAT WHERE MY 4 AND 5 YEAR OLD WERE IN THEIR CAR SEATS. WE WERE HEADED ON VACATION FORM ARKANSAS TO THE BEACH IN ALABAMA. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. TWO LANE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE NO CARS IN SIGHT. WEATHER WAS CLEAR.
