The right rear coil spring on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee dislodged and ejected from its mounted position while the vehicle was parked. The spring did not break; it came out intact. This vehicle previously had Recall 64A performed to address a rear coil spring-related safety issue. The recall had already been completed prior to this incident and marked as “complete” The failure occurred after the recall remedy, indicating a potential improper repair or incomplete resolution of the defect. The fact that the spring ejected while the vehicle was stationary raises serious concerns about improper installation or inadequate retention of the component. This presents a significant safety hazard, as the same failure could occur while driving and lead to loss of control. The incident also caused (or may have caused) damage to surrounding suspension components, which are currently being inspected. This complaint is being submitted as a recall remedy failure involving a safety-critical component. Additional details: Vehicle was parked at the time of failure No prior warning before the incident Spring dislodged intact (no fracture) I request that this issue be investigated as a failed recall repair.

My passenger coil spring fell out while coming out of my driveway and could of seriously hurt someone else or myself it fell out while I was driving. Chrysler wanted to charge us an arm and a leg to put it back in, so I put it back in myself.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle after driving approximately 5 - 10 minutes at approximately 45 MPH, the rear coil spring on the passenger’s side of the vehicle detached, causing the vehicle to lower. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed that the rear coil spring had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer also determined that the rear coil spring on the driver's side was detaching and needed to be replaced. The contact found information on NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension), which mentioned the same failure experience; however, the dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

The infotainment system/screen intermittently goes black.
Dec 21, 2025
Since I bought the vehicle in February 2025 I have reported the infotainment screen failure/ going black while driving. I immediately reported it to my salesman and had it assessed by my local dealership as well about it. They told me it was up to date and they could not find any codes and sent me on my way. Shortly after I realized the auto start/stop wouldn't engage and I also encountered a random subwoofer boom upon starting my vehicle at times. The electrical issue has been known by Jeep for some time as there was a technical service bulletin that circulated regarding these issues and there are numerous other issues that were reported as well on this bulletin. Bringing you to my recent experience was after bringing my jeep in twice after my purchase (when also under warranty) to address these electrical issues I was always told no codes, jeep is fine. It continued to be a problem but subwoofer got worse. Last week I tried to remote start my car and it just flashed rear lights and didn't start. It was completely dead. I was able to jump start it and got it to the dealership and they said it was the battery and replaced the battery. I had JUST had a new battery installed upon purchase in Feb 2025. Brought it home, same thing, it died. I noticed dash light going on and off and a chirping sound before it died again. Brought it back in. They say it was the door switch that's faulty. It's obviously an electrical issue and it will leave me stranded or others stranded. This is a safety hazard as it causes loss of display, loss of emergency calling, distraction, battery drain and unpredictable electrical behavior.

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and intermittent starting issue. The vehicle would not recognize the key at times. After a while I was unable to start the vehicle without having the fob touching. Last week the vehicle you start and the shutoff when I tried to drive away. I resorted to using the auto start and manipulate the vehicle start that way. A vehicle randomly shutting off when attempting to drive put myself and others at risk. I took the vehicle to the dealership and it was diagnosed that my Radio Frequency Hub module would need to be replaced. The part was replaced and programed resulting in the issue being revolved however the dealership failed connect both keys to the new RFH unit. After some reached I saw that the 2022 Jeeps had a recall for the same component: Customer Satisfaction Notification Z23 Radio Frequency Hub Module. unable to upload invoice at this time but can provide via email upon request

Generally, for the entire time we've owned the car, it has ongoing and systemic electronics malfunctions. This ranges from the car slamming on its own brakes while driving to systems not working to the seat shifting on its own while driving to false positives in the NAV system, etc. A lot of the malfunctions are funny, some are dangerous, but the common thread is that in spite of months in repair and countless supposed repairs by dealerships, the problems continue. And, yes, some of these absolutely put safety at risk (slamming on the brakes for no reason, false positives on detecting objects in road, seat moving during vehicle operation, speedometer ceasing to work, etc). Chrysler has confirmed and acknowledged these problems in the form of various settlements in spite of our requests for a buyback, offering us money, but leaving us saddled with the lemon. What I'm complaining here about, however, is that for the second time the vehicle has apparently caught fire in the engine when started from being off. The first time, it was supposedly fixed by replacing a sensor, but it did it again today, stranding my wife and young son in a parking lot. This car is a death trap and will, sooner or later, hurt or kill someone.

6/24/24 I took my dog to the vet. On the way home the compartment door open while we’re driving. I did pull over on the parking lot to close the door. The thing is, the button to open and close the door on the back side is easily accessible. My guess my dog accidentally press it that’s why it happens. Luckily no dog or person is harmed. I think it needs to be investigated to see if recall is warranted as there’s safety issue in my opinion.

The power liftgate would start to close unexpectedly. At first, we would hit the button and it would stop closing, but this did not stop it recently and the door did not stop closing. If I had not been a 200lb man, it would have killed me. I had to force the door up to stop it and broke the piston. Had I been smaller, I don’t know what would have happened. My neck and back were injured from the force of it attempting to close on me without stopping

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L - My front sunroof panel exploded out of nowhere while driving. My family was in the car as we were taking my son back to college. Thankfully the interior shade was closed and glass did not rain down on us while in motion. There was no warning, travel was smooth and no object hit the roof. I have read that there have been several other cases reported on this. VERY DANGEROUS

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Bought vehicle and reviewing safety features the next day I realized the Forward Collision Warning light was on because it was malfunctioning and not just turned off. Same with the AEB light. Then Active Lane Management came on as did ACC. This is a concern since they are all safety features. Took it to dealership and they unhooked battery to try and make the windshield spray work. After that all safety warning lights came on. Dealer has had it for 2 weeks and still cant figure issue. Looking online it apprears this is a major safety that happens to a lot of these vehicles.

Every time the vehicle starts, the driver dash display and radio display reset to a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). The paddle shifter is inoperative (with no option to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement changes to celsius, and numerous other settings reset as well. This is a dangerous situation. I don't understand the meaning of warning messages on the driver display because they are in Italian. It is difficult change the settings because the menus are in Italian. Plus, even if I change them, they all reset the next time the vehicle is started. I have taken it to the dealer numerous times. The dealer says there is nothing they can do and it can only be corrected with a software update that is not yet available.

This has happened a few times, just will be driving and the collision lights will turn on my dash. Has not caused any serious issues. but i am concerned one day this will alert my Automatic break and cause my car to stop while driving and cause serious harm to me or someone else. I have taken this to the shop and was just told they can not get it to " pop" up on the dash so aren't sure how to take care of it

SERVICE BRAKES
2 complaints
On [XXX], while driving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L on the [XXX] , at approximately 65 mph, a ring (like a washer) detached from the brake pedal. This caused the vehicle to suddenly lose braking capability. Right after I attempted to brake the vehicle on the highway, the ABS light, brake assistance light, braking distance automatic light, and traction control lights all illuminated on the dashboard, and the vehicle required immediate assistance. The brake pedal did not respond normally to pressure. I had to downshift rapidly to slow down and exit the freeway safely. Once in a safer area, I was finally able to stop the vehicle by applying a lot of pressure to the pedal. This dangerous failure put myself and other drivers at serious risk of an accident. Due to the severity of the issue, I immediately called a tow truck and had the vehicle taken to the authorized Jeep dealership in Tustin for repairs. I had previously experienced another major repair (rear axle joint binding) that took approximately 64 days when the vehicle had around 30,000 miles. The current incident occurred at approximately 52,000 miles. I reported this safety issue to Jeep Customer Service and received Reference Number [XXX]. This is a serious safety defect involving the brake system that could have caused a crash on the highway. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Mar 25, 2026
On July 16, 2025, at approximately 6:10 PM, I was driving home on the highway at around 65 mph when I attempted to brake. The brake pedal went completely to the floor, and no braking occurred. At the same time, the following warning lights and messages suddenly appeared on the dashboard: - “Service Park Brake” - “Service ABS” - “Service Electronic Stability Control” - “Auto Hold Unavailable” - “4WD System Temporarily Unavailable” I was able to maneuver the vehicle into the emergency lane without colliding with other vehicles or causing a high-speed rear-end accident. The vehicle came to a gradual stop but would not restart afterward. This failure occurred without any prior warning and posed a serious risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. I do not know how an accident was avoided, as the failure was sudden and could have resulted in a tragedy. The vehicle is a 2-year-old Jeep, with approximately 36,000 miles, and has been regularly serviced by Jeep, most recently about one month prior to the incident. After the incident, I had the vehicle inspected by a Jeep dealership, which confirmed the failure and identified a defective brake control module as the root cause. The component is available for inspection upon request.

SUSPENSION,WHEELS
2 complaints
This vehicle had a recall for rear tire suspension popping off the vehicle. While my vehicle was parked in my driveway the rear suspension coil popped off the rear of my vehicle as described in the recall. I then took the vehicle to the dealership they first gave me the run around for a couple of days then when they could not explain why the diagnostic test came back as failure for unknown reasons I argued that they had nothing else to relate the issue to as there was no signs of anything else. After days of back and forth they finally agreed to fix it under the recall. Upon receiving the vehicle back they refused to give me any paperwork or reciept for the incident and stated they would email it it to me. I never received anything. Also when I went under the vehicle to check the work done I can see they replaced it with the original type of parts and did not give me updated parts like they claim they did. Again I have no paperwork to show what they did.

There have been many components and issues that were and were attempted to be repaired. The vehicle is available for any inspection needed. I am afraid to drive the vehicle. My safety, my family’s safety and everyone around us front behind it doesn’t matter everyone is at risk. The vehicle for no reason at all just stopped. A very intense and.violent stop then the automatic braking and pedestrian warnings alerts came off. The vehicle did NOT come to a slow stop it felt like we hit into a brick wall. The dealership is never able to recreate or fix anything. Doubt they even try. They don’t put much effort into trying to recreate the issue.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1 complaint
Vehicle has experienced repeated electrical system failures affecting engine operation, safety systems, and interior electronics from April 2025 through April 2026. Details: April 2025 (under warranty): Vehicle lost power and died. Dealership replaced batteries. December 2025: While driving, multiple warning lights (check engine, blind spot, lane departure, forward collision, accident avoidance) flashed repeatedly. Battery died and was replaced by AAA. Vehicle taken to dealership due to safety concerns; dealership found no issues. March 2026: Same warnings occurred again while driving. Vehicle lost all power while stopped at a red light. Hazard lights did not work. Gear selector knob rotated freely and could not be put in park. After opening the hood, vehicle restarted but windows, powered seats, and infotainment stopped working. Dealership replaced fuse array. April 2026 (3 weeks later): Vehicle would not start. After accessing battery under passenger seat, vehicle turned on with alarm and lights flashing. Same warning lights reappeared while driving. Interior electronics (windows, seats, infotainment) remained non-functional. Safety Risk: Complete loss of power in traffic, inability to use hazard lights, failure of driver-assistance safety systems, and inability to shift into park create significant risk of crash or injury. Inspection/Repair: Vehicle inspected multiple times by dealership and AAA. Batteries and fuse array replaced. Issue persists and root cause is UNKNOWN. Warning Signs: Repeated warning lights prior to failures, including check engine and multiple safety system alerts.

Traveling at about 10-15 mph through a parking lot looking for a place to park. When 3 pedestrians crossed in front of my Jeep causing the Jeep to violently and abruptly stop. This violent and unexpected stop caused me to be thrown forward and then back which immediately caused a bruise and swelling in my chest and the left side of my neck and shoulder immediately hurting which got and continues to get progressively worse. The Jeep stopped instantly prohibiting me to react to the stop. The Jeep just stopped it didn’t slow down to stop it just stopped. It truly was a violent stop.

I rented this car from Fox Rental Cars at Seatac Airpot between 2/18/26 and returned 2/23/26. While in the AUTO setting for headlights, the high beams suddenly shut off and quick working. Then the tail lights quit working. I did not know the tail lights were inoperable until I was pulled over. When I shut off the vehicle and turned it back on, the tail lights came back on and I was released without a ticket. Then I got pulled over again on the 21st about a mile from my family home. The tail lights did not turn back on at all but the officer allowed my brother in law to come follow the vehicle home since I was so close. I ended up only driving the car during daytime hours. When I called the customer service line, I could not understand a word the person was saying so I gave up and decided to just drive during daylight hours for safety. When I reached out to Fox management, I was told there were no issues with inoperable tail lights or high beams even though when I checked the vehicle back in, the attendant noted on an incident ticket that the tailights were not working. He did not note the high beams not working on the ticket but they were still inoperable at the time of drop off. If this rental car company rents this vehicle to anyone else, someone could be killed. I asked them for a refund and they denied it based on them saying there was no issues. I not only reported this for a refund but SAFETY reasons so the next driver of the car doesn't get hurt. They clearly never inspected the issue any further if they say the tailights and high beams work. They did not work. I have included my rental invoice, incident ticket provided by FOX rental return attendant, vehicle information sheet, and email from management at Fox stating there were no issues because she didn't want to give me a refund.

From the beginning of ownership, this vehicle has experienced repeated infotainment and system failures that directly impact driver safety, including: The infotainment screen pixelating, freezing, and restarting while the vehicle is in motion A documented incident where the system emitted a loud noise for over 30 seconds before restarting Screen restarts while backing up, preventing the rearview camera from displaying System restarts during active phone calls and GPS navigation The issue occurring regardless of device type, after testing multiple Android and Apple phones Most critically, during a recent incident while driving, the screen restarted and the transmission unexpectedly shifted into manual mode These failures are consistent, repeatable, and documented through photos and video evidence, which I have provided to the dealership. Despite this, I have repeatedly been told that “no issues were found,” even though the problems persist and continue to worsen. A vehicle system restarting while driving—especially when it disables safety features like the rear camera or affects drivetrain behavior—constitutes a serious safety hazard. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle, and my confidence in its reliability has been completely undermined.

Malfunction of the Steering Column Control Module causing a disconnect with all associated components such as causing wipers to run continuously on max, and all listed functions stopped working including; SOS, Jeep Assist, blind spot, high & low beams, brake lights, turn signals, lane assist, horn, rear wiper, windshield washer fluid, airbag deployment, infotainment system, etc. Vehicle is currently at the Dealership in Delmont, PA and is available for inspection. This is a significant safety concern to myself and other drivers due a visibility issue with wipers on a continuous cycle, headlights and brake lights not functioning as intended, unable to use turn signals, airbags will not deployment in the event of an accident, among other safety related issues. The vehicle has been inspected for this specific issue at the Dealership December 21, 2023 and November 11-17, 2025, and was temporarily resolved with a software update. 24 hours later, on 11/18, the same issue reoccurred and is back at the Dealership with no update on a permanent solution. There are no warnings or symptoms prior to the failure of the SCCM. This issue first occurred 12/21/2023 with only 3,439 miles one it. The vehicle currently has 32,091 miles. 1 complaint
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, a burnt odor was emitting from the interior of the vehicle.  No warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact noticed flames were emitting from the brake caliper assembly, and the brake rotor was red on the front passenger-side tire. The contact used a giant water bottle to extinguish the flames. The contact, her mother, and her daughter were not injured.  The insurance company was contacted, and the contact requested a tow truck. However, the contact called roadside assistance. The driver, from roadside assistance, disconnected an unknown wire from the brake caliper. When the vehicle was restarted, the parking brake lever was engaged but failed to function as intended, and the ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive very slowly and took the vehicle to a family member's residence. The contact noticed that smoke was emitting from the front driver-side tire. The contact took the vehicle to Pep Boys, where it was diagnosed that the front brake calipers failed. However, the mechanic refused to repair the vehicle. The contact called the insurance company to have the vehicle towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the power brake booster was faulty, the vehicle had no brakes, the hydraulic control unit failed to build pressure, and an unknown internal leak was found. And the hydraulic brake system had a leak; the left front wheel had caught on fire, which caused damage to the left front brake caliper, the rotor pads, and the brake hose, and the rear rotors were glazed.  The contact was informed that the brake booster, ABS module, brake caliper, brake line, gaskets, front brake pads, front rotors, rear brake pads, rear rotors, and adapter plate needed to be replaced. The DTC codes the diagnostic showed were C0050-00, which indicated a malfunction in the right rear wheel speed sensor circuit. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. And advised the contact that a field inspector would be sent to inspect the vehicle. However, the contact was awaiting the results. The failure mileage was 59,647.

The contact's wife stated that while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle wobbled, and an abnormal sound was coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. It is unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. After a visual inspection, the contact's wife became aware that the control arm had detached, and the coil spring was on the ground. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was confirmed that the control arm and coil spring had detached from the vehicle. However, the dealer refused to perform the recall repairs, stating that since the contact's wife had struck an unknown object on the road, the recalls were voided. The contact stated that his wife had not struck an object while driving. The vehicle was taken to Jim Glover Dodge Chrysler, who refused to perform the recall repairs, that the vehicle had collided with an unknown object on the road and voided the recall repairs. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to an auto body shop. The vehicle remained at the body shop unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. While making a left turn into a busy intersection with a green arrow signal, my car applied emergency braking, slamming all of us in the car forward, locked up tires, in the middle of the intersection, with a car right behind me! I have no idea how we were not rear ended! There was absolutely no reason for the braking and it was very scary, sending my daughter into tears. We were able to continue driving after a few seconds sitting in the intersection in shock. My head immediately hurt and wasn’t sure really what happened but the slam was intense like a collision. This is very scary, and dangerous! If this had happened on a hwy or at a faster speed could have caused a serious accident, which I am now reading has happened to other Jeep owners.

The lumbar support airbags are over inflating on their own both the driver and passenger seats. To the point that it alters your seat position making it uncomfortable and dangerous for driving as there are times that it won’t go back down and positions you in an unnatural way. The passenger side one is so over inflated that it feels as if it could pop at any moment. It has inflated so much that it appears to have caused permanent damage to the seat by stretching the leather and padding. The stitching is coming apart and even when deflated some (won’t deflate all the way) it still sticks out from being stretched. I worry it could burst while driving causing injury or an accident. The car is only 2 years old. It is available for inspection at this time. It has not been to a dealer yet for diagnosis nor repair. It’s reproducible but only when it does it which happens to be more frequently and now also starting to be permanent. There are no warning lights or messages. It first started in the driver seat a couple months ago. The passenger more recently.

My vehicle randomly throws on the parking brake while driving. I have almost been rearended because of it. In order to get the parking brake to release i have to shut off the vehicle and wait 30 seconds then when I restart it, it releases. This has happened multiple times and the dealership has no clue how to fix the issue. This is a safety hazard to not only me, my unborn baby and my family, but also to others on the road because there is no warning before it sets the parking brake. I will list the most recent time this has occurred.

STRUCTURE
1 complaint
Rear liftgate will not open, attempts about 1/4" of movement then back in to lock and gives an object detected alert on driver's instrument cluster when nothing is behind vehicle. After multiple attempts to open the "Lift Gate Temporarily unavailable" alert presents on driver's cluster. This occurs from inner switch or trying to open from the lever and the key fob next to license plate. Cleaning cameras and bumper sensors seems to work once but the issue reoccurs immediately or after few cycles of door. Power cycling via pulling fuse for liftgate and disconnecting the bumper sensors does not change anything it still will not open and displays object detected alert. Took to dealer verified issue and lubed and adjusted lock, tested ten times and door opened. one day later wife trying to open liftgate would not open. this morning tried and did first couple time then didn't wipe one sensor, and it opened tried again would not open, wiped all sensors and cameras would not open. took to dealership, service advisor attempted would not open issue verified. this issue is intermittent as brought home tried when got out of car would not so approx. 20 mins after dealership visit. Then I typed this form up and went back out and attempted and it opened multiple times. I am concerned not being able to access my fire extinguisher or first aid kit rapidly if need be.

STEERING

Jeep Owner's manual explains how to setup the vehicle for flat towing behind an RV. Following those instructions, the vehicle does not track well. I've experienced this going through turns. Others report what they call a 'death wobble' while traveling at highway speeds. That's what worries me. I don't want to lose control at highway speed. Jeep dealers just repeat the manual's instructions, but it doesn't solve anything.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while the daytime running lights were activated, the high-beam headlights were inoperable. The contact had to turn off the daytime running lights for the high-beam headlights to engage. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called another local dealer, Chapman Las Vegas Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (3470 Boulder Hwy, Las Vegas, NV 89121) and was informed that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

Electrical System: The dashboard and screen have repeatedly turned off, the windows have become inoperable, and numerous warning lights and messages have appeared, including alerts for night vision, front camera sensor, and service car. Climate Control System: The system blows inconsistent temperatures, ranging from extremely hot to very cold. It also gets stuck in windshield defrost mode regardless of the selected setting. This has caused dangerous fogging of the windows, obstructing my vision while driving. Drivetrain: The vehicle shakes and trembles, both at high speeds and at a complete stop. There is also a distinct abnormal sound coming from the driver's front side. These issues suggest potential problems with the axle, transmission, suspension, or a combination of these components. Potentially the Engine: The vehicle has experienced sudden acceleration issues while shifting gears, which could indicate an engine-related problem. Loss of Vehicle Control: The trembling and shaking, particularly at higher speeds, can cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of an accident. Unexpected Acceleration: The sudden acceleration issues while shifting gears could lead to unintended speeding and collisions. Impaired Visibility: The climate control malfunctions, specifically the extreme temperature fluctuations and persistent fogging of the windows, significantly reduce visibility and make it dangerous to drive, especially in inclement weather. I have been forced to pull over multiple times to clear the windshield due to the severity of the fogging. Distraction and Discomfort: The extreme temperatures blowing from the climate control system are distracting and uncomfortable, which can impair my focus while driving. Car has only been inspected by dealership. No there were no warning messages prior to the car starting to act up.

This vehicle has been making a noise in the front left side since new (day one). The vehicle has been taken to the dealership about 10 times in attempt to fix this issue. During the last service, the dealership performed multiple tests and concluded that the noise source is the engine motor mounts. If they disconnect the electrical plug of the motor mounts all the noises are gone. Consequently, they proceeded to replace the left front motor mount but unfortunately the noise is still there and concluded that there is no fix available right now. They understand that Jeep needs to redesign the motor mounts and update the software the controls the engine motor mounts. I know a few owners of the same vehicle that have the same issue. Jeep knows about it but doesn't do anything to redesign these parts in order to correct the design flaw. I can provide copy of the communications with Jeep if required.
