The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal hissing and tapping sound coming from the engine compartment, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the wiring harness had failed due to rodent damage. The dealer informed the contact that the wiring insulation was soy-based and had been chewed on by rodents. The dealer stated that rodent urine and blood were found near the damaged wiring, and the area was not cleaned. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised by the dealer to place mothballs under the vehicle to deter rodents. The dealer also confirmed that no protective covering or preventative measure would be installed to prevent a future failure. The contact expressed concern that the failure made the vehicle unsafe and stated that the contact was afraid to ride in the vehicle due to the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer for further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 3,332.

Jan 2025, both main and auxiliary battery completely dead August 2025, both main and auxiliary battery completely dead December 2025, WHILE driving vehicle goes into neutral almost causing me with my children to get into an accident. This is no secret that Stellantis is aware of this issue and does not seem to care enough about the safety of the consumer, yet prefers to avoid a bad mark against their poorly designed faulty vehicles to be in the public.

On two occasions after sitting overnight, the vehicle dash did not light up and would not start. Roadside was called on one occasion and was not able to jump start the car after about 40 minutes of trying. Dash would light up, but engine would not turn over. Tow company came and drained two jump start batteries before it would start. It was taken to the dealership where they had it for a week and said it was a glitchy software update. A month later the same thing happened where it would not start after sitting overnight. Had to be hooked up to a Dodge Ram battery for 20 minutes before engine would finally turn over. However, the battery voltage sat at about 13/14 volts the entire time, so it doesn't seem to be a bad battery issue. Auto lights have been off as well as STOP/START in case something happens on the road. Could not get it into the dealership for inspection for a few weeks, so hoping they can reproduce and isolate the issue. It sounds like similar issues with other Grand Cherokee's have been left without solution. This definitely needs to be looked into.

Alerted to shift to park when making a turn. Lost power to engine, was able to coast to side of road and apply brake and shift to park. Dash alerted to push run so I pushed ignition switch and it cranked back up. First time this has happened took to dealership and left for them to look over.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Component: Engine/Powertrain and Electrical System. Availability: Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. ⸻ 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving, the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning, causing a loss of power, steering, and braking assistance, creating a serious risk of collision. This could have resulted in a major accident, especially at higher speeds or in traffic. ⸻ 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Jeep dealership replicated the issue once, but initially claimed they couldn’t. Jeep later confirmed the dealership did replicate it, but no repairs were made. ⸻ 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes. The vehicle was inspected by a Jeep-authorized dealership. Jeep confirmed the issue was replicated but refused to escalate it for further inspection. ⸻ 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights or messages appeared. The vehicle shut off without any prior indication, making it unpredictable and dangerous. The vehicle is a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee with approximately 21,000 miles. It unexpectedly shut off while driving, creating a serious safety hazard. Despite Jeep confirming the dealership replicated the issue, they failed to provide a solution or send a field engineer. I am requesting an NHTSA investigation due to the potential for this defect to cause serious accidents or fatalities

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Seems to be electrical / speaker related (forums state its the noise canceling system) This is a safety issue as around 20% of the time at cold start the car emits an extremely loud booming base sound that lasts 20-30 seconds. Despite only happening at startup anything that can impair a drivers senses is extremely dangerous as it impacts the driver and anything with noise happening around them. The problem has not been able to be reproduced by a dealer and they also wont incorporate the TSB unless it can be. Link below to reddit thread and a youtube video of the well known issue. [XXX] [XXX] Also, there is a link to a TSB, which you have issued, but this needs to be escalated to a recall asap. I purchased my Jeep in 8/2024. Since purchasing this Jeep it has had an intermittent burning smell. I was told by the dealership I got it at that it’s normal for burning smells on new cars. Well 13,700 miles later it’s still doing it and a couple of times I have seen smoke coming from the hood area up closer to the windshield area. I took my Jeep to another dealership on 11/29/2025. They drove it and smelled the burning but said they have checked everything and can not figure out where it’s coming from. They had me pick it up on 12/24/2025 and told me to bring it back if it did it again. On 12/26/2025 I returned the Jeep to the service department due to smelling the burning 3 times during the 3 days I had it. The service department still has my vehicle as of 1/12/2026 with no updates. I have contacted Stellantis and they have not done anything. The date to the question of when this happened, I put in the last time it did it. The first time I do not recall exactly but I did contact the dealership in Feb 2025 to inform them my car smelled like it was going to catch on fire sitting at a stop light.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
2 complaints
I have taken my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L to the dealership twice for a known recall 12B/NHTSA 24V-130 and issue with the automatic high beam headlights not working properly. The dealership claimed it was fixed and ran a recall update, but the system still does not function as designed. I am now within 500 miles of my factory warranty expiring, and the dealership is no longer responding to my calls. The safety feature remains broken despite repeated attempts to have it repaired. This issue may be related to a known recall or software defect reported for failure to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 – Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment., and is a driver safety concern at night or in low-light conditions. I am also reporting this issue to Jeep/Chrysler customer care and opened a case. I believe this should be further investigated as either a widespread unresolved recall issue or a recall repair failure that is not being properly corrected by authorized service centers.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud bang from the rear of the vehicle, prompting the contact to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. The contact observed that the driver's side rear brake light assembly had dethatched from the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.

SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES
1 complaint
2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve was parked before a snow / ice storm and when we went to drive it 5 days later, after the storm, it would not move and made a loud explosion noise when I pressed the accelerator. I immediately turned the Jeep off and went to look underneath to see if I could see what happened. The rear brake pads and calipers were blown off, along with a bunch of broken parts and the air ride suspension was at its fully extended height. It's been to 2 Jeep dealers who can not explain what happened and Jeep says there is nothing they can do. We have only owned this Jeep, which was purchased new, for less then 20 months when this happened. If this had happened while driving, we could have had an accident and been severely injured. The Jeep is available at this time to be inspected. No lights were on prior to this happening.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
Active Lane Management disengages itself upon start up. Sometimes says needs servicing - message disappears upon car restarting. Car states key fob is not in vehicle when it is. Car has turned on, not shifted into gear, and then not been able to be turned off. Steering input from the system is sudden and does not consistently match actual road conditions Radio screen flashes/goes black/freezes Emergency Assisted Braking system activates without a clear obstacle present Braking events are abrupt and unexpected during normal driving Both systems operate intermittently and without a consistent pattern, making the behavior unreliable Dealership has been unsuccessful in reproducing any of these problems despite picture proof provided. Has happened on multiple occasions - beginning in September 2025. Jeep/Stellantis unwilling to resolve. Safety Risk: The unexpected steering corrections and sudden braking create a risk of loss of vehicle control and increase the likelihood of a rear-end collision or other traffic incident. These safety systems are not functioning as intended and instead introduce unpredictable and potentially dangerous vehicle behavior.

STEERING
1 complaint
In July 2025 with only 15,330 miles, I was driving my vehicle leaving a parking lot and I suddenly lost power steering assist in my vehicle. Power Steering light, check engine light, traction control light, and sensor light all illuminated, my odometer began flashing and a message on the screen stating " Service Electronic Stability Control". I safely pulled over and had my car towed to a dealership where they diagnosed an EPS C2 connector was corroded and did not have dielectric grease from the factory. The sensor was cleaned and greased and reinstalled, codes cleared and I thought my vehicle was repaired. In February 2026 with only 19,125 miles, as I was leaving for work, again my vehicle lost power steering assist. Again, Power steering light, traction control light, check engine light, sensor lights, auto stop light all illuminated, my odometer was again flashing and the message on the screen was " Service Electronic Stability Control." The vehicle was again towed into the dealership where they told me that they performed a power steering "flash" and that my check engine light was because of an engine oil pressure issue, they performed an oil change and cleared the computer. This is a serious safety concern that has resulted in towing the vehicle twice, and I received two different diagnosis. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I do not want to be traveling with my child in this vehicle. I pay far too much money every month, on a brand new vehicle that we leased to be having these serious issues. Loss of power steering is not only a safety concern for myself, but others as well if I were to lose steering assist while driving. The problem has been identified at two different dealerships.

STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER
1 complaint
Component/System: Windshield/visibility system and possible body sealing or A-pillar water intrusion affecting interior and defrost performance. The condition is available for inspection upon request. Description of the problem and safety risk: I purchased a new 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Altitude. Within months of purchase, the vehicle began experiencing water intrusion inside the cabin, which has led to persistent interior moisture, fogging, and mildew odor despite multiple repair attempts over the past year. A significant safety concern occurs while driving: the interior of the windshield can fog or condensate suddenly and heavily enough to reduce forward visibility. When this happens, I must slow down and consider pulling over until visibility clears. The condition typically resolves within approximately 1–2 minutes but has occurred repeatedly during normal driving. Loss of clear windshield visibility while the vehicle is in motion creates a potential driving hazard for myself, my child passenger, and other motorists. Reproduction/confirmation: The condition has been reported to and evaluated by an authorized Jeep dealership during multiple service visits. Repairs have been attempted, including extensive interior disassembly to locate a water leak, but the problem has persisted. Inspection by manufacturer or others: The dealership and Stellantis (manufacturer) have been involved through warranty repair attempts and case review. An independent evaluation is being pursued to determine the root cause. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: No warning lamps or electronic messages appeared prior to the visibility impairment. Symptoms include interior moisture accumulation, mildew odor, and intermittent heavy windshield condensation while driving.

POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
1 complaint
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. While the contact's wife was parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was shifted to park(P), and the engine revved very high. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure had occurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated, but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle independently accelerated, and the contact slammed on the brake pedal to slow the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was turned off, but could be restarted independently. The contact stated that the failure was a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact was informed that there were no fault codes retrieved. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 12,500.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
I had my brakes flushed by my local dealer in June 2025 at about 31,000 miles for routine maintenance. I was traveling to York, Pa from Gravette, AR in September of 2025. All systems on my Cherokee had worked flawlessly on the trip, as they had since its purchase new in the Fall of 2023. On a very curvy, hilly road in the Cactocin mountain area, I was braking often. The ABS system warning light came on, as well as messages that the automatic collision control, lane departure control and adaptive cruise control were disabled. I noticed immediately that my brake pedal felt mushy and went nearly to the floor. Basically it felt like an old car with no power brakes. I proceeded to Gettysburg. When I restarted the car the error messages had cleared. I continued but after a few stops all of the error messages returned. When I got to York, still Thursday, I went to Stetler Jeep dealership and asked to have my Jeep looked at. The service clerk said no because I had no appointment. I asked to at least do an Obd2 scan so I know what the problem is. He said no, it can’t be done without an appointment. was told not until next Wednesday. I only planned to be in York until that Sunday. Between York and Decatur, IN on way home to Arkansas the warnings reoccured 3 more times, a total of 5. When stopped with my foot on the brake, when no errors showing, I would sometimes hear a clicking noise behind the steering wheel and feel it on my foot. A dealer in Indiana and my local dealer in Fayetteville, Arkansas could not find anything wrong. Those error messages have not appeared again without any repair. In December, my brakes were dragging and the brake waning light came on several times, then remained on. I could release the brakes by pumping them. My local dealer flushed brake system as the repair and warning light was gone. Two days later, brake system warning light is on again. I am taking it back to the dealer again even though brakes seem to be working fine.

The car randomly stopped while I was going 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. The car then would not allow me to move off of the high way or put the care in neutral. The car just stopped while merging on to the highway at 50 mph. It’s unsafe for myself and others The dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue but they see a code they’ve never seen before. The car is currently being inspected by the dealer. There was no warning before the incident .

Randomly, the passenger and driver seat’s lumbar and massaging features power on. In the case of the lumbar systems, they inflate to the point of rupture, resulting to damage in the seating surface and the delamination of the rear seat panel. All of this occurred while driving.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee was having failures with the Active Lane Management and Park Sense features not turning on. A visit to the service department revealed failures with both the front and rear facing cameras. While waiting for parts, I was travelling on the highway with the Adaptive Cruise Control enabled. (Not thinking about a possible bad interaction with the ACC.) In slowed traffic, my Jeep decelerated approaching a car, then suddenly accelerated. I had to quickly press the brake before crashing into the car in front of me. The Adaptive Cruise Contol should have disabled with the other systems have trouble with the cameras. The failure mode should have been to brake or shutdown, not to accelerate.

My car shutdown from automatic braking and would not move, crank or engage into neutral. I was driving, turning at an intersection with the flow of traffic. Cars on both sides of me and behind me. It shut down as we were driving with no warning and would not start or move. My steering wheel locked. I had my childr j in the car and we were stranded in the middle of a crowded highly trafficked road and its nowhere to go and no way of moving out of the way.

I have had this 2024 Grand Cherokee for barely 4 months and this is the second time I have gotten the notification “Automatic Emergency braking needs servicing” and “Right Lighting needs servicing” the AEB nor forward collision warning works and last time I brought it in they said the right head light was continuously running which is why it needed servicing and here I am 2 weeks later with the exact same issue.

On multiple occasions while driving, vehicle gear blinked from Drive and told me place the vehicle in park. Unable to do so because I was in traffic, vehicle would no longer accelerate and completely stopped. I could not shift to Park and had to turn off the entire car. Once restarted, brake system was engaged and I could not turn it off until I restarted the vehicle again. I have had my children with me and while I haven’t been in an accident yet, it puts us in grave danger.
