How to read a Nissan Rogue VIN — every digit explained
Every Nissan Rogue carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
- VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this Rogue.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your Rogue VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

A varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. Under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit (acu).
Risk. This could result in the passenger air bag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash.
Fix. Dealers will test the signal between the ocs and acu systems using a special tool to check that it is functioning as designed. If necessary, the seat cushion (containing ocs hardware) will be replaced with a new one manufactured to specification. The recall began on november 4, 2008. Tires:pressure Monitoring And Regulating Systems
What's wrong. Nissan is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, washington d.c., west virginia and wisconsin. The material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) may corrode and potentially crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor-transmitter and the tpms lamp will illuminate.
Risk. If the tpms lamp is disregarded and the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the tire will quickly lose air pressure at a consistent rate resulting in a flat tire increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix. The dealer will replace the tpms nut with a new, more robust nut. This service will be performed free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before november 9, 2009. Owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261 and infiniti at 1-800-662-6200.

Vehicle is available for inspection. On 07/20/2023 at approximately 10pm I arrived home with my Senior Mother and 5-year-old son who were seated in the back seat of my 2017 Nissan Rouge. On October 14 2022 I was driving my vehicle at about 35mph and came suddenly upon a stop sign. I hit the brakes and skidded through the intersection and collided with a pick up truck going about 15 mph. My rogue immediately caught fire from under the hood and the doors wouldn't open. The person I collided with was the only person amongst a dozen people who was brave enough and cared enough about my life to ram his body repeatedly into the rear passenger window and yanked me out of the car. Within 10 seconds of him doing that the vehicle exploded. I almost lost my life from what would be considered a minor collision due to the unexplained fire and explosion
Frontal impact caused airbags to deploy except the passenger front (no passenger) and the passenger rear side (passenger present) . Nissan claims no deployment of side airbag is because no direct "t-bone" impact on passenger side of vehicle was sensed. Nissan also claims that the driver side airbag did properly because it sensed a potential rollover situation. Nissan was moving on city street and hit (t-boned) a truck pulling a heavy loaded trailer that ran a red light. Rear passenger side airbag should have deployed!
May 1st, 2023 at approx. 3:30pm There were NO warning lights or messages of ANY kind received. No warning given by mail or phone call from selling agent that was issued March 12th, 2021. Was driving on interstate going south headed home after work. Approx 15 mi from home when smoke starting coming into the vehicle & from under the hood. Traveling in fast lane, appox 70mph in heavy traffic. Tried to pull over to see what the problem was but traffic wouldn't allow it, & I could not get to side of road & missed the next exit. So I proceeded to next rest area that I knew was less than a mile on my side. When there is smoke you usually find fire! As I entered the exit ramp to rest area I passed out from smoke inhalation. SUV continued traveling straight ahead at approx 55 mph & hit parked 18 wheeler tractor-trailer, I bounced off it, circled around & ended up facing West. I was still unconscious, truck driver & security guard pulled me from my suv. Just as they did the vehicle exploded into flames. Nothing left of vehicle. Rescuers could not see if any other passengers were in car because the black smoke was so thick & flames were shooting from under hood. Transported via ambulance to regional trauma & burn center to critical care ICU. There they did full test to check for stroke, heart, or other problems but I was in great health. I did have 4 broken ribs on left, cut in top of skull that took 8 staples, stitches in right eyebrow, damaged forehead, & various 1st, 2nd, & 3rd degree burns on my face, neck, right ear, left forearm, & both hands burned sufficiently! My shirt MELTED. SUV definitely had a problem that I was NOT aware of, for it to just start smoking, driving down the road. Purchased 3-7-23 from Hertz Car Sales. Only had SUV for 79 days/ 2 months! Loved the vehicle but it almost killed me! Thanks forever to my guardian Angel that saved my life! This model SUV must be recalled to save lives in the future & repair such a dangerous issue!

Leased a 2018 nissan rogue in august of 2018 and started having electrical issues with the vehicle. While driving, the navigation screen, center cluster where the speedometer is and all air condition and electronics would power off and restart itself, as if i was cranking the vehicle up. Took the car in for service and the dealership stated they had never seen this issue before and that they didn't know how to fix it. The dealership called me the next day stating the car was ready. On my way home from the dealer, the sensor system that works with the automatic emergency braking failed. I totaled the vehicle and fractured c5, c6, c7 in my neck, and had to wear a cervical collar for 4 months following the accident. I also suffered a concussion. Nissan took over and started they needed to perform an investigation. They found an issue with the sensor system in the car, and the aeb was not functioning. This could have all been avoided. 10 months later they send out a customer service initiative to have the car updated and looked at again. However the car was no longer in my possession.

While our son was trying to align car in drive outside our home garage door, going from r to d, dash lit up with all red warnings and could not put into park. Car started to roll back. My husband went to assist our son who was behind wheel and now believed the car to be in park. When my husband went to get behind wheel and my son was getting out, car started rolling backward getting close to our neighbor's garage door. My husband and son both fell from vehicle beside drivers door. My son put arms up onto open door trying to prevent car from further rolling and to prevent his father from being run over. Car finally stopped, aaa was called and vehicle towed to dealership. Car has approximately 1300 miles on it, and was taken to dealership twice to repair/replace/check sensors.
USB port in console caught fire while vehicle was parked total loss
My new nissan rogue has only 356 miles on it . Universal nissan sold it to me and the car's computer seems to be malfunctioning. It seems to be a hardware issue and not a software issue as they tried updating the software with no success. They were unable to fix the auto safety brake. It does not work for front pedestrians or rear pedestrian safety. The vehicle also does not apply the brakes in times of emergencies as it is advertised to do so. I have almost been killed in the car because the computer is malfunctioning and speeding up instead of applying the brakes. The car is a deathtrap. I contacted nissan consumer affairs, they said i have to talk to the dealership. I also received a mild concussion when the lift-gate smashed down on my head after i was checking out the trunk. The lift-gate was opening on its own while i was driving on the freeway. When i stopped to close it, it came down and smashed me in the head before i even activated it. Also, the car is burning gas quite rapidly. I am getting less than 16 miles to the gallon, and this is mostly freeway driving, even though it is advertised at 26 city, 31 hwy. . Universal nissan told me that i have to put high leaded premium gas or i will not get good mileage, but i don't think that is correct. There was also a mysterious fire burn beneath the car when i purchased it. I brought the nissan rogue in to be checked by universal nissan service, and they kept the car for four days. They were unable to fix the car's computer. The pro-pilot assist steering correction, doesn't work because nissan's custom leather steering wrap for this model of rogue interferes with the steering correction, you have to constantly squeeze the steering wheel to the point of exertion. I asked universal nissan to refund my money, but they have refused .
I was driving on the expressway when my car started shaking and a malfunction message came on. My steering then started to steer only to the left and the car would not allow me to control the steering any longer. I hit the median wall, did a 360 and was facing the opposite direction of traffic. The door initially would not unlock to let me out. I kept trying in a panic and all of a sudden they unlocked for me to get out. My car was totaled out by my insurance company.
Vehicle was being parked. As driver applied brakes, vehicle accelerated forward, jumping sidewalk curb and collided with tree at approximately 10mph. Engine continued to run, driver managed to gear to reverse and backed vehicle away from tree, off the sidewalk, back over the curb, and into parking slip. The manual supplied with the vehicle claims that it is equipped with event data recorder capable of storing information prior to and during an accident. Dealership claims the vehicle is not. *tr
The contact leased a 2025 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon pushing the button to open the hatch, the hatch would automatically come down once a person moved from under the liftgate. A beeping noise would emit from the hatch as it's coming down which resulted in the contact being hit on her head. The contact stated that failure occured while she was assisting a client who was legally blind. The contact stated that she felt dizzy immediately after incident and sat down in the vehicle to regain composure. As the contact dropped off her client, she informed them of what happened and was informed that there was a bump on the back of her head. The contact iced the bump on the back of her head and sustained a headache due to the failure. The contact did not seek medical attention. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the mechanic experienced the failure first hand upon inspection of the vehicle. While turning on an off ramp the steering gave out and locked, causing the car to drive directly into the guard rail. Yes the car was moving but stealthily as i slowed down to make the turn. The car was thrown from the left guard rail to the right side causing extensive damage and no airbag deployed in the event of this crash. The car was no longer able to move from such a drastic accident and yet it was not enough for the airbags to even attempt to save our lives. There were kids in the car! Thank the heavens we were able to get out of the wreck alive. One wheel was turned inward as it attempted to turn while the right front wheel stayed straight. It was a nightmare and we are all still shaken up by this.
On 11/21/2020 at 5:30 pm, we had a car crash on a highway i-495 (capital beltway, md), we were in our car (i, my wife, 2 kids), we noticed a sudden stop by many cars ahead of us in the same lane we were in (left lane), i pressed my brake and been able to avoid reaching the car ahead of me but unfortunately, the car behind me was very fast with no control in their brake thus, she hit my car from the rear and pushed me to hit the front car. After we stopped, i went out to notice that 9 cars were involved in the crash. Although it was a big and hard accident, my car's airbags didn't deploy, however, it did open in most of the other cars. Due to the nondeployment of the airbag, we had a lot of body pains, whiplashes, and my son was hit in his head (i have an emergency initial diagnostic report from the hospital). In addition, my car experienced huge damages from back and front, and eventually, it had been totally unfixable according to the inspection from the collision technician. I had contacted the car manufacturer (nissan) to open a case, but they didn't consider the risk that we exposed by not deploying the airbags and they ignore that they are having any problems regarding this issue and they justified this incident by saying that as long as the car been hit by the rear the airbag will not be deployed regardless of the hit strength.

My father was hit while driving his 2013 rogue while turning left. Oncoming car hit right passenger side so hard the battery of the rogue was found two blocks away. The car was totaled.

Wife was driving car and applied brakes. They didn't work right as the car did not slow as it should have. Rear ended a car that was stopped at light. Assured me 100% that she was applying brakes and that she wasn't texting or looking at phone. Accident occurred at or around 25 mph into stopped car. Clean hit directly front end to rear end. Everyone walked away sore but relatively unscathed. Cars left via tow trucks. Next day wife was complaining of spots in eye and dizzy. Went to er. Nothing wrong supposedly. 16.5k damage to car. 2 days after the accident she had a stroke. Doctors say it was because of head whip due to impact. Airbags/seatbelts worked as advertised but the head whipped and cause a dissection of right carotid artery. Cause a clot that was released and created a stroke on right side of brain. Lost all function on left side, could not walk, speech slurred, no movement on left side at all. Been in hospital since dec 8. Ambulance to er. Air ambulance to another hospital. Icu for 2 weeks, rehab hospital for over a month. Luckily my wife lived, but right now she is learning how to do everything all over again. *tr

After parking on a steep incline, i set the parking brake by pushing the parking brake pedal. The brake was set. Upon returning to vehicle, i started vehicle, placed in drive, attempted to release parking brake. I was unaware of how to release brake.(previous and post year rogues state on the parking brake pedal "push on push off". My car had a plain black pedal with no inscription). While attempting to find the parking brake release, i accidentally pulled the lever to open the hood witch is located in the area of my parking brake release of my dodge. I got out to close hood leaving the car in drive. Upon returning to drivers seat my right foot touched the parking brake pedal, releasing brake and the car sped downhill with 2 passengers aboard and dragging me outside the car reaching app. 35 mph before crashing into tree. Had the parking brake pedal been inscribed "push on push off", as in previous and post years of the same model car i would have seen how to release parking brake. I have photos of different years 2011 thru 2014 of this model showing "push on push off" and video of my 2015 nissan rogue sv (top of the line model) with a plain "no inscription" rubber parking brake pedal. There are no other instructions anywhere in the interior of the car that state how to release parking brake. The owners manual does state how to release brake.
Vehicle could not brake. The abs brakes did not function and forward collission warning did not go on causing a collission with another car that cut in front of car. This caused collission, airbags to deploy and car is totaled. Driver and passenger were injured due to crash and air bag deployment. On the day of crash I received a warning in my app requesting I have my abs checked at dealer because abs brakes might not function properly from Nissan.
We were in an accident that has caused injury to the driver (fiancé) and passenger (myself). The impact was on the front driver side. No airbags deployed. No emergency braking activated or collision warning appeared. The cruise control was on, that also activates all sensors. We do not have insurance information yet, but this vehicle is most likely going to total. We have yet to receive the incident report from the police.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 30 MPH just after a snowstorm, approaching an intersection, and attempting to slow the vehicle, the ABS failed to prevent the brakes from locking, causing the vehicle to skid. As a result, the driver briefly lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and only came to a complete stop after colliding with a snowbank approximately 200 yards from the roadway. The contact also stated that at that same moment, his wife became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort in her attempt to regain control of the vehicle. The side curtain air bags were deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who had yet to provide a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact stated that he and his wife both sustained various injuries as a result of the failure: scratches, bruises, and burns possibly caused by the curtain airbag deployment. However, they did not immediately seek medical treatment but planned to at a later date. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 109,000.
My wife and I were driving down the street 2017 Nissan rogue. Number two driver illegally backed across double solid yellow line to go into his driveway. I hit the brakes the car started to skid at 30 miles an hour with antilock brake system should’ve kicked in upon the crash. The airbags did not deploy and airbags. Come out anywhere from 8 miles an hour on I was a mechanic for a long time my wife banged up her shoulder and her back and I’m disabled as it is and I hurt my legs really bad, banging against the dashboard, the driver from the other car insurance paid us some money but it was even close to what it be for the repairs and I do not let them know about the airbags or the antilock brake system. This was very bad if we were at high speed we would have been killed. I did not document this anywhere. I did not put it on social media. I’m keeping it to myself for now , I have films in pictures of how the action occurred and the gentleman is still backing into the driveway. State farm blame me 15%. While driving my 2018 nissan rogue to work on a sunny florida morning, i experienced a technical issue with my vehicle around 8:00 am est. While slowing down applying my brakes as i approached a major intersection with traffic, my rogue suddenly accelerated on its own accord causing me to crash into a vehicle in front of me. During the acceleration, the vehicle's onboard automated emergency braking system was sounding alarms but did not brake the vehicle. Instead it felt like the vehicle was accelerated instead. A loud grinding sound could be heard at the point of impact with the vehicle in front of me and for about a second or so afterwards. Thankfully the speed was low only resulting in minor body damage to my vehicle and no visible damage to the other vehicle.*dt *tp the end result was i sustained multiple back injuries - lower and neck regions simultaneously. I suspect this is due to the fact i went from slowing down to sudden acceleration and then finally to full sudden stop. Thankfully, i was the only person in my vehicle. All of this was caught on my dash camera including the sounds. The vehicle was taking to bill ray nissan in longwood, fl which were unable to pull any diagnostic codes and have not been able to duplicate the issue. When depressing a brake to slow a vehicle down, the vehicle should not accelerate by itself. This is a significant safety issue. I will be glad to submit a copy of the dash camera footage for review. *dt*jb *dt *tp*dt*tp*dt*dt consumer submitted video and transcript.*jb*dad this is an ongoing issue.*jp the consumer stated the battery was the cause of the failure. The battery had a low voltage.
On march 16th i had a accident that was a result of a known issue that nissan is not addressing (more if i at www.nissanproblems.com/aeb ). Basically, when leaving a parking garage my car suddenly made beep beep beep sounds and stopped on its own and the car behind me hit my car. I have already reached to the insurance where i would just need to pay $500 deductible for the fix however the fix would only handle the bumper fixing and not the fact that the car is defective. I'd obviously don't want to keep this car. In this case i'd be looking for assistance with nissan, with lease termination and with body injuries. Nissan requires the car to be untouched for their 'investigation' in a certified location (they claim my current shop is not certified even though it is listed in their site it is) where the entire process would take between 4-12 weeks. During this time the car can't be touched and of course not driven. No resolution offered to meantime transportation and expense coverage.
While pulling into a parking slot the vehicle accelerated and crashed thru the front of a medical clinic and into an inner wall. Air bags did NOT deploy.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 50 MPH, she heard a chime and then the vehicle's forward collision brake system independently engaged. The contact stated that his oldest son did not see anything in front of the vehicle. The contact stated that his wife said the vehicle pulled sharply to the right and drove down an embankment and onto a property. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed head-on into a stack of railroad ties. All of the air bags had deployed. The state police arrived and filed a report, but the contact did not have the report number. The vehicle's front end was crushed to the wheel wells. The contact stated that the driver's side front and rear axles were fractured, and both tires had blown out. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact stated that prior to the accident, the vehicle's motor had been replaced in June of 2025. The failure mileage was approximately 65,500.
Tl* the contact was a lawyer calling on behalf of his client who owned a 2019 nissan rogue. The contact stated that while his client was driving at 40 mph,a tractor trailer pulled out into oncoming traffic and collided with the client's vehicle. The air bags did deploy upon impact. The contact stated that the automatic emergency braking and the forward collision warning systems failed to operate as needed. Emergency aid arrived at the scene where both the driver and the passenger were taken to the hospital via an ambulance. The driver sustained several abdominal injuries which included several cuts and bruises. The passenger in the vehicle was rendered a paraplegic due to her injuries. She was paralyzed from the waist down and has minimal functionality above the waist. The driver of the trailer sustained no injuries. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was totaled at the scene and was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was uncertain if the dealer or the manufacturer was ever notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,541.
Pulling out of a dollar general store was hit by a truck causing sever vehicle damage. Air bags and collision avoidance did not work. Engine did not shut down was still running after collision, no warning lights came on. I had to shut the car off. Could not move the car frame was broken. Called nissain a couple of times was told a rep would look at it but it could take up to 6 weeks never got a follow up call. Hit my head on the steering wheel.Have not contacted a lawyer as of yet
While making a left turn at approximately 10 mph in light snow conditions, braking became severely impaired with pedal pressure present but vehicle failing to decelerate, and steering became significantly resistant and insufficient to redirect the vehicle away from the obstacle. Vehicle continued toward a tree despite brake pedal input and steering input away from the tree. Slippery road warning light activated before and during the incident. Multiple additional warning lights activated during and after impact. Airbags did not deploy despite collision. Post-incident, steering required significant opposite steering input to drive straight for approximately 1.7 miles to reach a safe parking location, consistent with front-end damage affecting steering alignment. Prior to this incident, I experienced multiple separate occasions where braking felt abnormal and insufficient in conditions requiring higher traction including rain and snow. I verbally reported this concern once to an authorized Nissan dealer in December 2025 and was told this was normal AEB system behavior. No documentation was created for this verbal complaint. Vehicle had a prior manufacturer recall performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on June 1, 2024 reconfiguring the IPDM/USM — the module controlling electronic steering column lock and CAN bus safety system communications. At that same visit, the Nissan technician documented abnormally dirty brake fluid at only 14,410 miles on this 2023 vehicle. A second manufacturer recall reprogramming the ECM was performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on December 4, 2025, approximately two months before this incident. The vehicle is available for inspection. No independent or dealer post-incident inspection has occurred. An insurance claim has been opened. Incident occurred within the 3-year/36,000-mile manufacturer warranty period at under 31,000 miles.
how brake failure caused the Rogue to crash. “I was coming up on a stop and was trying to slowly come to a stop. But I noticed that my car wasn’t slowing down. So, I tried to brake harder by pushing on the brake pedal, but the pedal resisted my foot pressure. I pressed harder on the pedal, but the car didn’t start to beep the collision warning. I was not in control of the braking system (and) the car would not stop. The car wasn’t allowing me to brake. as everything happened so fast. I ended up rear ending someone.”
Tl* the contact owns a 2021 nissan rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the driver assist engaged, the vehicle decelerated when there were no obstruction. The vehicle jerked to the right and the driver assist warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that while his wife while driving at 10 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however the automotive braking failed to engage and the driver crashed into a toyota camry. A police report was filed. The driver sustained injuries to her neck but no medical attention was received. It was unknown if the occupants of the other vehicle sustained injuries. The vehicle was taken to premier nissan of fremont (5701 cushing pkwy, fremont, ca 94538 (510) 668-8700) where it was diagnosed with an alignment failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000. Invalid vin.
Tl* the contact owns a 2020 nissan rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 - 20 mph when suddenly the vehicle's brake assist activated causing the vehicle to come to a stop as if the brakes were intentionally stopped but they were not. The contact stated that while making a left turn at a stop sign when the vehicle suddenly stopped causing them to be rear ended. A police report was filed. No air bags deployed. The contact received injuries to their back. Medical attention was needed. The vehicle had not been towed. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph when the vehicle suddenly stopped. The failure occurred a fourth time. The contact stated they would have to place the vehicle into park, then, turn the vehicle off and on again in order for the vehicle to regain proper function. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (pearson nissan of ocala 2060 sw college rd, ocala, fl 34471; (352) 622-4111) who were unable to recreate the failure and identify the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware however the contact was waiting for a call back regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. *dt*jb

There is a strong smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the vehicle when it's running. The smell is absolutely nauseating. I've been told that at this point Nissan is aware of the issue and there is no fix as of yet. Now I'm stuck driving a brand new car that is making me and my family ill.
Vehicle rapidly accelerated on its own after i slowed down the vehicle to park in my garage. I heard an engine revving noise prior to the vehicle suddenly accelerating. It went through the back of my garage, over the deck and fiinally was stopped upon impact with a tree stump in the backyard. Side air bags deployed but front did not.
-The car was driving it started to smell burn. car was parked. 10 minutes later took fire. total loss. -Safety was at risk due to fire. -Car is a total loss -File a case with Nissan America on 6/2024 with pictures, police report and all, no solution as of today. On March 25th the dealership said our car was on a recall for R25E2 the dealership performed the ECM software update fix at this time. On April 30th 2026 the engine suffered catastophic failure. The heat stopped working the car was not showing hot the dial was at 1/4 it is usually at 1/2. The oil light flashed my husband lost power steering and it died at a 4 way stop. There was so much white smoke coming out the tailpipe he thought it was going to catch fire. The dealership is saying the car is not under the recall because they "fixed" the software. There were no warning lights or anything the only warning was the heat not working. He only made it 8 miles past out house before this happened. The software failed to protect the hardware from the safety defect. The dealership said the head gasket blew from overheating but they are saying it is not the recall they dont know the reason even though my husband and I have stated our car was affected by this recall or they would not have completed the ECM software update which clearly is a failed remedy. January of 2026 The front radar sensor bracket is deformed/bent causing forward collision avoidance system to completley fail. Despite no impact damage to the front bumper, the dealer and third party warranty are denying the claim as an accident. This failure occured during the january ice storm in Georgia Nissan TSB NTB23-011C identifies ice build up behind the fascia as a cause for bracket deformation. This is a known design flasw that disables the safety systems including adaptive cruise control, lane assist, forward collison warning and automatic emergency braking. My car only has 46,000 miles all of these systems should not be failing.
I am seeking reimbursement for an out-of-pocket repair for a Throttle Body replacement (October 2025) that is now covered under Nissan Safety Recall R25E3. Despite providing the invoice, proof of payment, and the recall completion notice, the representative [XXX] , Case #XXX) has verbally denied the claim. Furthermore, the representative refused to provide a written determination, insisting on phone calls only. This was a documented manufacturing defect (internal gear failure), and I am requesting Nissan honor their safety recall policy and refund my repair costs. Incident Date: 04/05/2026 Vehicle Speed: 65–70 MPH Location: [XXX] Component: Engine / Power Train / Fuel System Summary of Safety Defect: While traveling at highway speeds (65–70 MPH) with four passengers (including two children), the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure without any prior warning or symptomatic noise. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) began flashing rapidly, immediately followed by a total loss of motive power. Despite throttle input, the vehicle failed to maintain speed or accelerate, creating an immediate hazard in high-speed traffic. Hazardous Conditions encountered: Upon the loss of power, I observed white smoke trailing from the exhaust and a strong burning odor entering the cabin from the engine compartment. To avoid a high-speed rear-end collision, I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver across active lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. Due to the immediate fear of a vehicle fire (indicated by the smoke and burning smell), my family was forced to evacuate the vehicle and wait outside in a remote location for six hours. Correlation to Known Defects: This incident appears to be a direct manifestation of the defect described in Nissan Recall ID R25E3/R25E4 / NHTSA ID 26V0801 regarding Engine Main Bearing Seizure. The failure resulted in a complete loss of propulsion and a potential fire risk due to fluid ignition or a breached engine block. Post-Incident Status: The vehicle was towed to Nissan of Cumming and is currently awaiting a formal inspection for internal metal debris. The failure of this critical component under highway conditions posed a life-threatening risk to my family and other motorists. I have a brand new 2024 Nissan rogue I keep it very pristine condition and I follow all recommendations for service on my vehicle. I am down in Naples Florida originally from Crystal Lake Illinois, and while I was at the gas station called Murphy's in Naples I presumably got bad fuel and now I have $3,000 in damages on my car. I asked the Naples Nissan dealership to help me fill out a form to make Murphy's be held accountable and they still haven't done it 5 days later. I'm in a rental car losing money everyday. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and their case manager is in India she's never returned my call, she has never even contacted the dealership and I contacted the consumer affairs department again yesterday asking for a supervisor to call me back but I never got a return call. I'm at a financial loss, and under horrible stress due to all these conditions with no one helping me resolve my issue. I need help please help!
On oct 17,2025. While driving 35 mph on my to drop off my niece to her doctor appointment. My new 2024 Nissan rogue started to shake and engine light started to blank and cut off power and stopped on the road. Putting our lives at risk for accident on the road. Error Code : P2563 and P2565. I took it to the Dealership Antwerpen Nissan in clarksville, MD. Were I purchased the car brand new in 2024. The system check showed that Nissan Turbo had failed a defective safety recall and I need a New engine for my car after less then 1 year. The dealership would not honor this dangerous safety recall issue from Nissan has on the Turbo engine as there is a active recall on 2022 - 2024 Nissan rogue on the VC- Turbo Engine. Nissan and Antwerpen Nissan have not given me any help to fix this defective turbo engine that is putting a lot of drivers like myself at safety risk for a accident on the road. I would like to file a complaint in this matter to get it resolved and fixed on my 2024 Nissan rogue SV with a new Turbo . To fix the defective recall VC- Turbo from Nissan. Can a Nissan Rogue tow? Towing & payload
As an SUV, the Nissan Rogue is built to tow and haul. The exact maximum towing capacity and payload depend on the engine, drivetrain and whether it has the factory tow package.
What sets your Rogue's tow & payload rating:
- Engine — a larger or turbocharged engine tows more than the base unit.
- Drivetrain & axle — 4WD/AWD and the axle ratio shift the rating.
- Tow package — the factory towing package (hitch, wiring, transmission cooler) raises the max.
- Payload & GVWR — GVWR caps the combined load; more passengers and cargo lower how much you can tow.
Exact towing capacity, payload and GVWR are added per engine, drivetrain and trim — decode your VIN above, or check the driver's door-jamb and hitch labels. Curb weight from vehicle specifications.
