I HAVE A 2007 VW JETTA THAT IS WEARING OUT PADS TO FAST. THE 1ST TIME THEY WORE OUT THE CAR HAD APPROX 16,000 MI. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER NOT TOTALLY RELEASING. THE 2ND TIME THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH APPROX. 28,000 MI. BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND VW WERE WILLING TO REPLACE THE PADS SINCE THEY WORE DUE TO THE BRAKE LEVER AGAIN. BUT IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT AUDI PADS BE PUT ON BECAUSE THEY WORE LONGER THAN THE VW. THE MECHANIC AT THE TIME SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM ON THE JETTA WITH THE LEVER NOT ALWAYS RELEASING. NOW AT 54,000 MI THE CAR HAD TO GO IN FOR A BRAKE JOB. UNFORTUNATELY THE PADS WORE DOWN TO THE RIVETS AND SCOURED THE ROTORS. SO I HAD TO PAY FOR PADS AND TURNING THE ROTORS. NOW VW IS SAYING THAT THEY DESIGN THE BRAKES TO WEAR IN 12,000 TO 20,000 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF PADS ONLY LASTING THAT SHORT OF TIME. AND IF THAT IS SO THEN WHY AM I STILL USING THE ORIGINAL FRONT PADS. THEN THEY STATE THAT THEY SET THE CAR UP SO THE REARS DO MORE WORK THEN THE FRONT TO MAKE THE FRONT NOT DO ALL THE BRAKING. YEAH, WE DO THAT ON TRACTOR AND TRAILERS TO, BUT NOT TO MAKE THE REARS DO ALL THE BRAKING. I WORRY BECAUSE MY SON USES THIS CAR AT COLLEGE AND I DON'T WANT A CALL SAYING HE HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE BRAKES GOING OUT. I WORRY VW MAY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR PADS PREMATURELY WEARING AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM LIKE TOYOTA CAN'T FIX THEIR PROBLEM. *TR

I AM LEASING A 2007 JETTA 2.5 AND JUST TOOK MY CAR IN THIS MORNING FOR IT'S 35,000 MILE TUNE-UP. I WAS TOLD THAT MY REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE AT LESS THAN 10%. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED 5,000 MILES AGO THAT THEY WERE LOW OR WOULD BE CAUSING ISSUES. NOW I'M BEING TOLD ON TOP OF MY $250 TUNE-UP, I NEED TO REPLACE ALL THAT FOR 310. I OWN A 2007 JETTA WITH ONLY 26K MILES ON IT. WITHOUT ANY INITIAL WARNING THE REAR BRAKES STARTED TO GRIND ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A SPECIALIST WHO TOLD BE ONE REAR BRAKE WAS GRINDING ON METAL AND THE OTHER WAS ABOUT TO GET TO THAT POINT. MY FRONT WHEEL DRIVE BRAKES WERE STILL 100% AND NOT SHOWING ANY SIGN OF WEAR. THEY FELT THIS WAS VERY UNUSUAL FOR BRAKES TO DO THIS SO SOON AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THE CAR DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK FOR FAULTY BRAKES. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR TO DO THIS SO EARLY. I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND TEND TO REPLACE THEM AFTER ABOUT 50K MILES. WE HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES ON ANY OF OUR CARS. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR A FLAW IN THE MODEL. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE PADS IN THE REAR ARE THINNER THAN THE ONES IN THE FRONT. THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME. I AM OUT $350.00 DOLLARS AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE A VW PRODUCT AGAIN. TRANSMISSION SLIPS EXTREMELY BADLY EVEN THOUGH IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE 90K MILES ALMOST MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN CITY AND IS DANGEROUS WHEN NEEDING TO SPEED UP AND SLOW DOWN. TRANSMISSION SLIPS MORE WHEN SPEEDING UP FROM SLOW SPEEDS AND WILL REACH HIGH RPMS OF 4700 EVEN WHEN NOT TOUCHING THE GAS BUT I HAVE HAD IT SLIP ON THE HIGHWAY OUT OF NOWHERE AND IT PEAKED AT 7300 RPM WHEN NOT TOUCHING THE GAS WHICH IS PAST THE REDLINE ON THE RPMS. IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY I DRIVE TO WORK (20 MINUTES ON THE FREEWAY) AND SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING WITH THIS LOW AMOUNT OF MILES.

AFTER ENGINE WARMS UP THE CAR JERKS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS UP AND DOWN. IT GETS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AT TIMES. I TOOK THE CAR TO SERRA VOLKSWAGEN AT 1490 CENTER POINT PKWY, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35215. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT HE FOUND METAL SHAVEN IN THE TRANSMISSION AND DRAINED IT. AFTER A FEW DAYS THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN 2018. I JUST PARKED THE CAR UNTIL I CAN FIGURE WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON WITH MY CAR. TODAY JULY 7, 2019 I DROVE THE CAR TO MY NEW RESIDENT AND IT GOT STUCK IN 3RD GEAR. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM CONCERNING MY TRANSMISSION.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 2015, IT HAD 72K MILES THEN, NOW IT HAS 90K MILES. THE LAST 1 YEAR I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE JERKING WHEN IT WARMS UP ENOUGH ESPECIALLY WHEN I GET TO A STOP LIGHT AND START DRIVING, OFTEN TIMES THE ENGINE REVVS UP SO MUCH AS IF SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND AND THEN SETTLES DOWN. VW DID EXTEND THE WARRANTY KNOWING ABOUT THIS DEFECT UP TO 100K AND 6 YEARS WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. THERE ARE A LOT OF FORUMS WHERE SEVERAL OF THE AFFECTED ARE DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS FOR AUTO TRANSMISSION VEHICLE. NOT SURE WHY THIS WAS NOT CONSIDERED A RECALL, SINCE THE GEAR GOES UP BY ITSELF OFTEN TIMES AS IF I MAY HIT THE VEHICLE ON THE FRONT. THE ISSUE IS WITH TRANSMISSION VALVE THAT VW AGREED IS FOUND DEFECTIVE. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD MAKE IT A RECALL IF THE PART IF FOUND DEFECTIVE. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE PART AND THE PARTS AND LABOR COSTS ABOUT 2K. THIS ISSUE HAS IMPACTED PRETTY MUCH ALL THE VEHICLES MADE DURING 2005 UNTIL 2007 OR 2008 AND IS AFFECTING ALL 2.5 ENGINES ESPECIALLY THE WULFSBURG EDITION WHICH IS ONE OF THE HIGH END IN THAT MODEL. APPRECIATE IF YOU GUYS HAVE A LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND DO THE NEEDFUL. THE PATTERN IS SUCH THAT THE VEHICLE RUNS JUST FINE WHEN JUST STARTED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, ONCE THE ENGINE WARMS UP THE VEHICLE WILL START ACTING UP, WHEN IN HIGH WAY WITH A STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR AT LOCAL ROADS. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP TO 4 OR 5 SUDDENLY, THERE IS A LOT OF HESITATION, I HAVE TO GIVE VERY LIGHT ACCELARATION IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE ON THE FRONT. IT BECOMES LIFE THREATENING OFTEN TIMES.

NOW CURRENTLY THUDS AND PHYSICALLY JUMPS WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND TO 3RD AND EVEN 4TH TO 5TH, BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN TO GMC DEALER AND THEY SAID I WOULD BE NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION AT ONLY 110000 MILES, ADVISED ME TO CHECK MY CAR VIN# FOR VALVE BODY RECALL.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND THE REAR SEAT AIR BAGS WERE FAULTY. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON AN INCLINE, A BURNING ODOR ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. AN UNKNOWN VOLKSWAGEN DEALER IN BENNINGTON, VERMONT WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT HAS COME ON AND FOR THE MOST PART REMAINS ON. FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF, BUT INEVITABLY, IT ALWAYS TURNS BACK ON. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AND SEEMS TO BE A SYSTEMIC ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR. MANY REPORT AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE THEY HAVE A PR NIGHTMARE BY PUTTING PROFIT MARGINS OVER THE LIVES OF THEIR CONSUMERS.

The contact owned a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical problems. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, another driver persistently blew the horn at her to inform her that the vehicle had caught fire. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and immediately exited the vehicle. The contact noticed that there was a fire underneath the passenger side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle burned to the ground and there was a big hole in the pavement. There was no further information provided. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the fire department. A fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The contact sustained post-traumatic stress disorder as she had lost her only daughter in a vehicle fire in the past. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

REAR DRIVER'S SIDE LOCK FAILED WITH NO INDICATIONS THAT IT DID NOT WORK. WE THOUGHT THE DOOR WAS LOCKING, EITHER VIA THE KEY-FOB OR INTERNAL LOCKING, BUT IT WAS NOT AND WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THIS WAS THE CASE BEFORE THE DEALER POINTED IT OUT. THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY. THIS LEFT OUR CAR OPEN FOR THEFT, AND ENDANGERED A YOUNGER CHILD WE SOMETIMES TRANSPORT AS THE DOOR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE LOCKED. *TR

IGNITION SWITCH BUSHING. THERE IS A NYLON OR PLASTIC BUSHING IN THE KEY IGNITION SWITCH TO START THE CAR THAT CAN BECOME DISLODGED AND PREVENT THE KEY FROM GOING INTO THE PATHWAY. CAR CANNOT BE STARTED FOR THIS REASON. MUST BE TOWED. VW HAS TOLD US THAT THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY TO THE VW JETTAS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WENT TO HER TRUNK. AS SHE WAS RETRIEVING ITEMS OUT OF THE TRUCK, SHE HEARD THE VEHICLE ROLLING BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BUT THE DOOR HAD KNOCKED HER DOWN AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. AFTER THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED DOWN, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE ROLLED OVER HER LEFT LEG. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL INTO HER NEIGHBOR'S YARD AND HIT THE NEIGHBOR'S GARAGE DOOR. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE NEXT DAY, THE CONTACT WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND WAS TREATED FOR INJURIES TO HER LEFT FIBULA WHICH REQUIRED SURGERY. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

HAD TO REPLACE BOTH COOLING FANS ON MY 2007 VW WOLFSBURG JETTA. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON CAND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. CAUSING THE PRESSURE RELIEF LID ON THE OVERFLOW BOTTLE TO BE ACTIVATED CAUSING COOLANT TO COME OUT. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEM WAS 50+ DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTO SHOP THAT WORKS W/MY USED CAR WARRENTY, THEY TESTED GENERATOR AND BATTERY AND BOTH WERE GOOD. NO RECALLS ON MY VIN HOWEVER, I DID SEE RECALL# 14E007000 ON 2007 JETTA'S AND IT STATES THE ENGINE COULD SHUT OFF DUE TO TIMING BELT FROM FAULTY WATER PUMP.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. I DID NOT SEE SMOKE OR FIRE BUT WHEN I PULLED OVER I FOUND THAT THE HEATING ELEMENT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT HAD STARTED BURNING THE SEAT. BOTH RADIATOR COOLING FANS HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER A CHECK FOR ENGINE FAULTS WERE PERFORMED WITH A TOTAL COST TO ME OF $786.43. THE V.W. JETTA IS A 2.5 LITER ENGINE. THIS WAS THE SECOND 2.5 LITER JETTA THE LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR COMPANY HAS DONE TODAY WITH DATE OF JUNE 13, 2013. ALL THE MAJOR DEALERSHIPS IN DENVER WERE CALLED TO COMPARE AVAILABILITY AND PRICE OF PARTS. ALL DEALERSHIPS HAD BOTH RADIATOR COOLING FANS THAT NEEDED REPLACED IN STOCK. THE AVAILABILITY OF THESE PARTS AT ALL DEALERSHIPS LEADS TO THIS SUMMARY: THE MAJOR VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIPS WERE ANTICIPATING HAVING TO REPLACE THESE PARTS IN MANY OF THE 2.5 LITER JETTA VOLKSWAGENS. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE ON A RE-CALL BY VOLKSWAGEN AND THE COST OF REPLACEMENT AND LABOR INCLUDING DIAGNOSING OF THE ENGINE FAULTS AND THE FANS SHOULD BE PAID BY VOLKSWAGEN. I WAS DRIVING ALONG A MAJOR FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS FLASHING. WHEN PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, WE EXITED THE CAR SINCE IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS STRETCH OF ROAD AND SOON A HIGHWAY SERVICE VEHICLE CAME AND TOLD US THEY WOULD TOW US OFF THE ROAD FOR OUR SAFETY. WE WERE STRANDED ON A LONE STRETCH OF BUSY FREEWAY 80 MILES FROM HOME AND HAD TO GET A TOW FOR 80+MILES AND 2+ HOUR'S DRIVE. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY CAR (IGNITION COIL) WAS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD 4 MONTHS PRIOR (WHICH ALSO REQUIRED A TOW). AT THAT TIME, ONLY ONE IGNITION COIL WAS REPLACED (EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN EXISTING RECALL ON THE IGNITION COILS) AND SO 4 MONTHS LATER I ENDED UP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IN READING ON THE WEB, I HAVE DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WITH VW IGNITION COILS HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2001 - EVEN MORE REASON TO WHY ALL FOUR SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THE PROBLEM BACK IN JUNE. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IN ORDER TO TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN I HAD STARTED THE CAR IT DID SEEM LIKE THE KEY WAS NOT TURNING AT FIRST, BUT THEN IT STARTED LIKE NORMAL. ONCE I DROVE TO MY FIRST DESTINATION I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF, SO I DROVE TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY HAD TO TAKE APART THE IGNITION SWITCH AND STEERING WHEEL COLUMN TO TURN THE CAR OFF.

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA, WULFSBURG EDITION, VIN#[XXX]. OVER THE PAST FOUR MONTHS, I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED HER SON WAS DRIVING 25 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL EXPLODED WHICH CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK IN PLACE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TO CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF TRUCK. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID DEPLOY IN THE VEHICLE. NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED FROM VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SON SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THE CONTACTS SON RECEIVED NO MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WESTERN TOWING (3401 S 43RD AVE, PHOENIX, AZ 85009). IN WHICH THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWED LOT AND SOLD THE VEHICLE TO CLUNK FOR JUNK YARD. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.

WHEN I BOUGHT MY BRAND NEW 2007 JETTA IN OCT 2006, WE THOUGHT THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS A LITTLE TOO EASY IN MANEUVERING. WHEN WE WENT TO VW TO CHECK IT, THEY SAID THAT THE HAD TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE FOR THE STEERING WHEEL. ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, I WONDER HOW MANY OF THESE CARS GO OUT THE LOT WITHOUT KNOWING THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDS TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH THE SEAT HEATER ON. I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AND THEN A BURNING SENSATION. BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER, THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT COVER, EXPOSING THE WIRING AND FOAM. MY COAT AND CLOTHING WERE BURNED, AS WELL AS MY BACK. THERE IS ALSO EVIDENCE OF OVERHEATING/BURNING IN ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS OF THE SEAT COVER, BUT IT ONLY BURNED THROUGH IN ONE LOCATION. I TURNED OFF THE SEAT HEATER AND DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS INSTRUCTED TO DISCONTINUE USE OF THE SEAT HEATER. THIS OCCURRED ON 3/8/19 WITH LESS THAN 95K MILES ON THE CAR.

ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2015, AT APPROXIMATELY 8:00 AM IN THE MORNING, MY SEAT WARMERS HAD BURNT OUT. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK; IT WAS A CHILLY MORNING SO I TURNED THE SEAT WARMER ON TO 4. THE HIGHEST IT GOES UP TO IS 5. SOON AFTER, I FELT IT WAS A BIT TOO HOT. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN, I SAW SMOKE! I COULD NOT STOP ANYWHERE SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE SEAT WARMER. I REMAINED CALM UNTIL I ARRIVED TO A STOP LIGHT. WHEN I LOOKED BEHIND ME I NOTICED 3 HOLES IN MY SEAT. TWO LITTLE ONES AND ONE BIG ONE. YOU CAN SEE THE BURNT WIRES. I WAS SO ANGRY BY THE TIME I GOT TO WORK. I DROVE OVER TO VW NEMER IN LATHAM, NY TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT AND MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO ENGINE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE REP. WAS NOT SYMPATHETIC AND NOT VERY POLITE. HE KEPT SAYING I SHOULD HAVE CALLED AND I SHOULD HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT. I TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO STAY THERE AND WAIT TO FIND OUT THE RESULTS. HE CAME BACK TO TELL ME THAT THE SEAT WARMER BURNT OUT AND THAT WAS ALL. HE ALSO TRIED TO GET ME TO FIX MY BRAKES (I DID NOT COME IN FOR BRAKES). HE TOLD ME I WOULD NEED NEW WIRING AND SEAT COVERS (LEATHER) TO FIX IT. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY A $100 DEDUCTIBLE. I AM NOT PAYING THAT DEDUCTIBLE. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT MATTER, BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, BUT MY CAR HAS NOT REACHED 100,000 MILES YET... I HAVE WRITTEN A COMPLAINT TO VW DEMANDING SOME TYPE OF RESOLUTION. THEY NEED TO CHECK THEIR CARS VERY THOROUGHLY. I READ THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER SEAT WARMER INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED IN CANADA AND VW DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. I AM AFRAID TO TURN ON ANY HEATING SYSTEM IN THE CAR NOW, BECAUSE IT TOO MIGHT FAIL AND SHOCK ME. I HAVE PICTURES TO SHOW MY TORN SEATS. I CAN SEND THEM IF NEEDED.

MY CAR'S DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT IT, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE WIRING IN THE HARNESS/HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS EXPOSED (THE COLORED COATING PROTECTING THE WIRING WAS GONE). I ORDERED A LEFT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. IN THE MEANTIME, THE OLD HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS BROUGHT TO THE VW DEALER, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY "SEE A LOT OF THESE COME IN", BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL OR OWNERSHIP OF POOR QUALITY FROM VW. WHEN THE PART CAME IN AND WAS BEING INSTALLED, I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. I WASN'T ALLOWED TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I WAS TOLD IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE EXPOSED WIRES TOUCHED EACH OTHER, THE CAR COULD JUST STOP OR, PERHAPS THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL, WHICH WOULD BE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IF I WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT. EITHER WAY, I WAS TOLD AN ACCIDENT OF SOME SORT WOULD OCCUR, WHICH IS WHY I WOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO USE THE CAR WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN. IF VW HAS SEEN "A LOT OF THESE" INCIDENTS COMING INTO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ONE WOULD QUESTION WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ALLOWING DRIVERS TO BE OUT ON THE ROADS WHEN THE CAR HAS INFERIOR AND DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL PARTS. DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS...DANGEROUS FOR THE OTHERS WHO MIGHT BE INVOLVED SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 VW JETTA 2.5 BUT THE MOST RECENT AND DISTURBING WAS A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE REAR BRAKES DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY ADJUSTED PARKING BRAKE CABLE. THE FAULTY E-BRAKE CAUSED THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS TO SEIZE, ATE THROUGH THE PADS, AND DAMAGED THE ROTORS. UPON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THIS WAS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY MODEL. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I CAME ACROSS DOZENS OF OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WHILE MINE DID NOT RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT NOT HAVING THE USE OF THE REAR BRAKES WITH NO WAY OF TELLING IS DEFINITELY A CAUSE FOR CONCERN. PLUS WITH THE BRAKES SEIZED AND DRAGGING MY FUEL ECONOMY HAS SUFFERED GREATLY. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND HAD THE REAR CALIPERS, E-BRAKE, PADS, AND ROTORS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD TO PAY AS MUCH AS $600.00 TO THERE LOCAL DEALERS WHO CALLED IT A WEAR ITEM. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND FORCE VW TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM AND RECALL THE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE DOES GET KILLED DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN THE ENGINE BAY BY THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP. THE LOW BEAM OF THE HEADLIGHT KEPT GOING OFF AND ON PROMPTING A BROKEN HEADLIGHT OR HEADLAMP BULB SIGNAL ON DASH BOARD. AFTER REPLACING THE BULB THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED IT CONTINUED PERIODICALLY FOR ABOUT ONE MONTH . WHILE DRIVING I SMELLED BURNING PLASTIC AFTER WHICH I NOTICED FLAMES FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP. I PULLED OVER OPENED THE HOOD NOTICING THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP WAS MELTING AND ON FIRE. WITHIN TWO MINUTES OF PULLING OVER THE ENGINE BAY WAS COMPLETELY MELTED . THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE INTERIOR ' MELTING IT.

MY 2007 WOLFSBURG JETTA JUST STALLED ON ME LAST NIGHT. THE ESC LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE ENGINE DIED. I LOST ALL POWER AND COASTED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY BUT ALL MY LIGHTS, RADIO, HEADLIGHTS WORKED. I TRIED TO START IT BUT THE RED STEERING LIGHT CAME ON TOO. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY(<4 YEARS, <40,000 MILES). LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED IN MY 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THERE WERE NO OUTSIDE INFLUENCES(ROCK) THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. 2007 JETTA 2.5L REAR BRAKE FAILURE IN JUNE 2007 RESULTED IN ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP AND VEHICLE WAS HIT DRIVER'S SIDE. REPORTED TO VW AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL FAILURE. BRAKES CONTINUE TO FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY (GRINDING, SQUEALING, SEIZING) DECEMBER 2008 REAR BRAKES REPLACED (30,000KMS) AT MY EXPENSE AS VW HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS AN ISSUE. I HAVE A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA WOLFSBERG EDITION WITH 29,000 MILES ON IT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. MY REAR BRAKES WERE MAKING AN AWFUL SQUEALING NOISE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AS WELL AS FOR MY BRAKES. I WAS TOLD THAT MY REAR BRAKES HAD 1MM AND 2MM LEFT ON THEM AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THIS WAS PART OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE CAR IS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE $425 TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES. I HAVE OWNED TOYOTAS BEFORE AND HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. The car has been jerking when you’re driving and sometimes it jerks forward as you’re parking it while it’s in the parked position. Then I’m driving home from work , it’s raining heavy. I get to the Valaro store by my house; I put $40.00 worth of gas in the car after work drove home parked the car the next morning it would not turn over , would not ignite at all I took it to the shop. They said the computer was fried from the rain leaking through the windshield or under the windshield. They said it’s a major problem with this model car. The mechanic said the computer could not be fixed. He sent it to the Volkswagen repair shop it can’t be fixed and to replace it cost thousands of dollars !!! I can provide an estimate of the problems and possible repairs if needed . The mechanic stated it is not worth the cost to fix the car. I did notice that there is a powertrain recall and my mechanic is also stating that the transmission is the jerking problem we’re having.. I really think these should be recalled however I needed to submit my issues and see what you final decision would be on both situations, the powertrain transmission problem and the computer burnout problem thank you so much and hope you’re having a great day

TPMS failure on each tire and ABS went out immediately. Was on he highway when failure happened; had to use the emergency run away truck ramp to stop. Break pads seized on back left side causing damage to rotor that was just replaced. Only thing that saved my life was it was in the middle of the night.

FOR EXAMPLE I'LL BE DRIVING AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT'LL DO A HARSH JOLT FORWARD AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO THAT WHEN ACCELERATING OR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GO AT A STEADY SPEED. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THE SEATBELTS ARE NOT RETRACTABLE ANYMORE AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. WHEN I WOULD TURN OFF THE CAR THE GAS WOULD BE REGURGITATED BACK AS IF THE CAR WAS ON AS IT'S COMPLETELY OFF. I NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON FEW WEEKS AGO THEN THE SHAFTS' LIGHTS STARTED TURNING ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME (P-R-N-D). THE CAR WAS MOVING AND A KNOCKING SOUND STARTED WHEN THE WEATHER GETS HOT. I TOOK IT TO COUPLE OF CAR SHOP SERVICES AND NON WAS ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM BUT RATHER, THEY OFFERED TO CHANGE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION FOR +4,500 DOLLARS SO THAT THEY WOULD WORK IT SIMPLY WITH A GOOD PROFIT! WHILE DRIVING EARLIER TODAY, THERE WAS A VERY WEIRD SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND I PLANED TO TAKE IT TO VW SERVICES SO THAT THEY'D TAKE A LOOK AT IT. WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, MY VW'S DSG TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND SHIFTING ERRATICALLY. THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD INCREASE TO 6000 THEN DROP SUDDENLY TO 500. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING, THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY REENGAGE, CAUSING THE CAR TO SURGE AND BUCK. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD THEN SLIP AGAIN, AND THE ENGINE SURGING AND VEHICLE BUCKING CYCLE WOULD CONTINUE. SYMPTOMS OF THE DSG TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRING; TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP. RPMS WOULD INCREASE THEN DECREASE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. ENGINE WOULD ENGAGE THEN DISENGAGE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIOLENTLY BUCK, SHAKE, AND JERK. THE PRNDS NOMENCLATURE WOULD FLASH RAPIDLY, INDICATING A FAULT WITHIN THE SYSTEM. THE FINAL INDICATION OF THE SEVERITY OF THE DSG TRANSMISSION'S COMPLETE FAILURE WAS THE CARS INABILITY TO MOVE UNDER THROTTLE. THE CARS VELOCITY WAS COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLABLE. I AM VERY METICULOUS ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE OF MY VEHICLES. VW REQUIRES A FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE AT 40,000 FOR THE DSG. I HAD MINE DONE AT 39,000 THIS HAPPENED ON I70 ON THE BORDER OF PA/MD. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT LOSS OF LIFE OR PROPERTY. HOWEVER, HAD THIS DSG/TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED ON 495 IN VA/MD, ( WHICH WAS MY LOCATION JUST 2 HOURS PRIOR) THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. VW IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH ITS DSG TRANSMISSION, BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. NOTE THE VIN SPECIFIC RECALL IN THE US FOR DSG/MECHATRONIC/ TEMP SENSOR. HOWEVER, THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD. MY VIN IS NOT SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL, YET MY VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND FAILURE AS THAT SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE OF MY DSG TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED AND WITHOUT WARNING. MY CAR ACCELERATED WHILE I WAS MAKING A "PANIC STOP" MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND NO BRAKES WERE BEING ACTIVATED AND THE CAR ACTUALLY SPED UP UNTIL I PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH. DURING OPERATING SPEED THESE ACTIONS WOULD CAUSE UNDERSTEER AND I ASSUME THE CAR HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED TO RELEASE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND REAPPLY THROTTLE TO REENGAGE FULL STEERING RESPONSE BUT I WAS LEAVING A STOP SIGN WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED. NO PRECIPITATING EVENTS. WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE CUTS OUT FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY BATTERY LIGHT COMING ON, HAVE 30 SECONDS-60 SECONDS TO GET OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID COLLISION. CAR DOES NOT RESTART. HAS HAPPENED 4X TOTAL SO FAR, TWICE WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON HIGHWAY. DEALERSHIP HAS EACH TIME REPLACED FRIED FUSE TO FUEL PUMP RELAY. AFTER THE 3RD TIME THEY REPLACED THE MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE CENTRAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (I WAS TOLD THIS MODULE HAD BEEN UPGRADED 9X BY VW SINCE MY 07 VEHICLE). THIS TIME THEY ARE REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP & SENDING ME HOME W/EXTRA FUSES & SHOWING ME HOW TO REPLACE THEM SO I AM NOT STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY (!) I DO NOT HAVE THE OLD PARTS FROM THEM. I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE TO WALK AWAY UNINJURED DUE TO QUICK REACTION & PLAIN LUCK EVEN IN RUSH HOUR. THIS IS A 2007 VW JETTA, WOLFSBURG EDITION PURCHASED NEW ON 2-8-07, MAINTENANCE FOLLOWED EXACT, FUEL TANK KEPT AT 1/2-FULL. PROBLEMS BEGAN @28,608K NOW AT 41,817K. *TR

THE CAR BEGAN TO HAVE JERKY SHIFTS AND THEN BEGAN LURCHING AT SLOW SPEEDS IN FIRST. IN CERTAIN CASES THE GEAR WOULD GRAB AND THEN LET GO ALLOWING THE CAR TO SUDDENLY ROLL BACKWARDS ON HILLS. THE MECHATRONICS UNIT WAS REPLACED AFTER 35000 MILES AND THEN THE SECOND UNIT LASTED FOR 1300 MILES. I AM NOW WAITING FOR MY SECOND REPLACEMENT UNIT. PURCHASED NEW VEHICLE 07/21/07 AND ON 12/09/08 I HAD TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED ON MY NEW 2007 VW JETTA WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES ON IT! THIS IS MY 4TH VW AND I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE SO SOON BEFORE. MY PREVIOUS VW THAT I'VE BROUGHT TO THE SAME DEALER FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. I FIND IT INAPPROPRIATE FOR VW TO SELL ME A VEHICLE WITH SUB STANDARD PARTS THAT REQUIRES A LOT OF MONEY TO REPLACE - WITH NO DISCLAIMER. I'VE COME TO EXPECT BETTER QUALITY FROM VW. WHICH WAS THE MAIN REASON AS TO WHY I PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE FROM VW AGAIN. TO ADD, I'LL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN EVERY 15,000 MILES OR SO. 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA HAD A RATTLING NOISE IN THE WINDSHIELD. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE NOISE GREW IN INTENSITY AND ANNOYANCE. HE TRIED TO FIND THE LOCATION OF THE NOISE AND LIGHTLY TAPPED THE WINDSHIELD AND IT CRACKED. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER CLAIMED A ROCK MAY HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATING HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER FIXED THE AIR BAG PROBLEM, BUT THEY DID NOT FIX THE WINDSHIELD. *JB

AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON IN THE VEHICLE UNTIL ENGINE IS STOPPED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BACK IN JULY OF 2007. THEY'VE RESET THE CODES, REPLACED THE SEATBELT BUCKLE AND RESET THE CONNECTORS THAT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AIRBAGS AND NOTHING HAS WORKED. I'VE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER (WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR) FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT'S STILL NOT FIXED. I'VE CALLED VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY'VE DONE NOTHING. THEY SUGGESTED I BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
