SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED ON THE HIGHWAY. IT HAS BEEN A VERY HOT SUMMER AND I HAVE TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONING ON HIGH TO COOL MY CAR WITH ALL BLACK INTERIOR FOR MY INFANT SON (THE AIR VENT POSITIONING IN THIS CAR MAKES IT VERY HARD TO COOL THE BACKSEAT). I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 8 WEEK OLD BABY IN THE BACKSEAT, AC ON HIGH, AND RADIO AT A LOW/NORMAL VOLUME. OUT OF NOWHERE I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION AND IT COMPLETED TERRIFIED ME AND MY BABY. I QUICKLY REALIZED THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED WITH GLASS FALLING THREW THE SUNSHADE GAPS AND I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY IMMEDIATELY. THANK GOODNESS I DID NOT CRASH FROM THE SOUND OF THE EXPLOSION AND I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED OR ALL THE GLASS WOULD HAVE SHATTERED ON US BOTH!! I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING FLY AND HIT THE SUNROOF ON THE ROAD. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR THE GLASS LOOKED LIKE IT HAD EXPLODED UPWARD WITH NO SIGN OF ANYTHING HITTING IT FROM ABOVE AND NO DAMAGE TO THE SHADE OR EXTERIOR BODY OF THE CAR. MY EARS WERE RINGING AND THUMPING FOR A WHOLE DAY AFTERWARDS - I’M CERTAIN MY BABYS EARS WERE HURTING AS WELL BUT COULDN’T CONFIRM OF COURSE BECAUSE HE WAS 8 WEEKS OLD. I’M CERTAIN IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE GLASS OR THE INSTALLATION AND NOTHING HIT THE GLASS. I AM SO SURPRISED THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET - SO UNSAFE FOR THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS I.E. MY INFANT, AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.

As I’m driving the car, the gear ship suddenly won’t go into gear to downshift and grind for a second so I stopped trying to change gears and I just close to the end of the exit. Finally able to get it back into gear drive down the road and the clutch is really loose and almost like it’s not connecting to anything. I’ve heard this has been a problem with the gearshift mechanism on other Volkswagens. And there have been recalls on that I don’t know why there’s no recall showing for my 2015 Volkswagen Jetta with this issue.

I was driving along the I-25 highway south. I was no where near any bridges and was in the right lane with a safe following distance from the car in front of me. Suddenly out of no where with no warning lights, and nothing that could have possibly been flung towards my car, my sunroof exploded. Thankfully the inside cover was closed, and I was not using the sunroof or the glass would have been blown into the car on me and my passenger. I pulled onto the shoulder and got out to look at it. It looked like it had been imploded from the inside, and there was no damage to the inside cover, giving me reason to believe the glass just exploded with no impact from anything else. There was also no thumping noise of another object when it happened. Luckily no other cars were involved and I was able to get off the highway safely. Still waiting to get my sunroof fixed.

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and shutoff. The failure also occurred while driving on a busy highway. After the failure had occurred, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the engine misfire was caused by a faulty ignition coil and ignition lead. The ignition coil and lead were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.

Since purchasing my used used 2015 VWA Jetta in 2019 I have had several issues I think are electrical. (1)The phone charger outlet has blown a few times and required them to reset it, (2) there have been 4 occasions in the last 6 months where my car wouldn't start, but upon being checked out by a VW repair shop it was not determined what caused this, the lights started coming on, but it would not fully start. (3) More recently my horn has randomly stopped working, on three occasions when I went to use it, nothing happened and when I park or later in the day it resumes working.

My Volkswagen vehicle (Jetta Model 2015, MOdel 4DJSA, VIN [XXX] ) had a first event on [XXX] where the car suddenly stop in the middle of [XXX]. The car was taken to Volkswagen at Inver Grove and the cause was related to failure in a piston. The car was fixed without cost as it was covered by the guarantee of the vehicle. Again, around [XXX], the car again suddenly stopped working and needed to be thawed to Volkswagen at Inver Grove, the diagnosis done was extreme misfires on all cylinders that cause the car to die while in operation. The root cause was due to excessive oil inside the cylinder. In this occasion, the repair would not be covered under the guarantee and thus the option provided was to replace the motor at an estimated cost of $11,000 USD which is above the cost of the vehicle. It is important to notice that the car was routinely checked and serviced by Volkswagen at Inver Grove during the time we have owned the vehicle. There were not diagnostic tools that we could have to address this issue, to our knowledge there is nothing we did to cause this catastrophic failure. This recurrent incident could be likely a manufacturing issue and thus it is not caused by the user. The damage of the cylinder was not isolated to just one, all four have the same issue. Our car is currently parked (we are paying storage insurance on it) and we cannot use it. Our ask is for Volkswagen to repair the vehicle at no cost to us as we were not at fault for this issue. My car has been recalled twice for a camshaft which is making a ticking noise inside still. I reached out to dealership and they said they can only handle the situation once they get approval from NHTSA. Please help me out with this issue. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 77,000.

The timing belt chain is faulty on the car. There was a recall on models a year before mine and Im having the same problems with mine. My car is inoperable and very unsafe. Driving on hills and in the snow was dangerous because of the jerkiness and lack of speed in the car. It put me in danger on the highway and generally driving. The timing chain is a problem that needs fixed on these models.

Operating vehicle at highway speed engine stopped suddenly and vehicle lost all power. Engine timing belt failed at 103XXX miles. Vehicle was difficult to bring to stop and steer to side of road. Timing belt interval listed at 130k this is a TDI Dieselgate car. New regen cycle causes car to operate more cycles and at higher temperatures potentially causing premature timing belt failure.

With no warning, the transmission/mechatronics unit in this 2015 Jetta Hybrid, reported an error code. This "error" results in the car not being able to enter the Hybrid (electric motor) mode when asked for by driver. Also, the car no longer goes into Stop/Start mode when stopped (engine cycles on and off). Car thus failed state inspection due to error code. Dealer tested and found code "P0841". Dealer reported failure in power train, needing a full replacement at over $7,000 cost. Review with VIN shows not within a Recall which was offered for this model. Yet failure seems to be same as that which led to Recall on same models. Dealer cannot verify the actual fault w/out a full tear down, which they don't want to do. Thus, they suggest a full replacement of transmission and control module (mechatronics). I feel the car should be repaired by manufacturer.

The transmission of the 2015 VW Jetta Hybrid failed at about 81,000 miles. The transmission began to behave erradically while it was idling, with the engine coming on and off every 5 seconds. The check engine light and EPC lights illuminated. I was able to get the vehicle to an auto parts store to check the codes. The codes that came back indicated that there was transmission related issues. Unfortunately the vehicle did not start again when I was ready to leave the auto part store and I had to tow it to the dealership. The local dealership indicated that there was metal fines in the transmisison fluid. Their workflow indicated that the transmission was shot. Please note that VW replaced the mechatronic unit of this transmission in 2019 at nearly 43.000 miles and there's a recall on transmissions for this vehicle's model. However, the VIN of my vehichle was not included in the recall. We were grateful that the transmission begin to fail while we were in a large city, as we had traveled 8 hours already the day the transmission failed.

The engine light on my 2015 VW Jetta Hybrid was enabled and my car stuttered and stopped while idling at stop lights, and in some cases projected my car forward slightly while pressing the brake. I brought my vehicle for diagnosis and was told that the cause was failure from the mechatronics unit and that my car should essentially be scrapped since they cannot locate a replacement part. I understand that this is a significant safety issue as the engine can simply stop working at any time. I have learned that my VIN was included in the NHTSA recall 19V-866 for the "Interim repair" portion of the recall, but it was NOT included in the "Part 573" final remedy portion of the recall, which included a corrective action to "install a mechatronic unit repair kit". As my VIN number was somehow removed from the second step of this recall, it has now posed a significant safety issue. I have read a similar complaint on this site that was posted in February of this year for this same issue and car model. I completely concur with that consumer that more investigation on this recall needs to be done to allow for additional VINs to be included in this recall. I believe my vehicle should have been included in the repair portion of this recall - which may have been an error on the part of VW.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid SEL Premium with less than 60,000 miles has multiple error codes for transmission and VW dealership/service shop advised only solution is to replace the transmission. Apparently my VIN is not included in NHTSA recall 19V866000 (certain 2013-2015 Jetta Hybrid vehicles equipped with a DQ200 7-Speed DSG Automatic Transmission) but based on the current situation I believe it should have been. It is my understanding that this situation presents a major safety issue. I bought this vehicle certified pre-owned from a VW dealership and have put just over 10k miles on it in the three (3) years I have owned it. Without the excessive cost of replacing the transmission, which was damaged through no fault of my own, the car is worth "maybe $100 for scrap" per the dealership/service shop. This appears to be a fairly prevalent issue and I implore you to investigate further. I am confident additional VINs should be included in the recall, perhaps with transmissions built by subcontractors other than the one at issue in recall 19V866000, but still (clearly) not properly constructed.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid, 73,000 miles mechatronic transmission failure. Vehicle repeatedly experiences loss of power/stalling and low and highway speeds. Losing power at any speed, specially highway speeds is a SAFETY issue. VW service shop has diagnosed issue as mechatronic transmission failure, hairline cracks, loss of fluid and gear damage sustained in transmission. VW service acknowledged the transmission damage is the same as ongoing recall. Transmission will need to be replaced. VW service shop advised vehicle VIN is not covered under current NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V866000 (Power Train). VW service advised VW will have to include this vehicle/issue under a recall for them to fix it without cost to me. Safety issues, symptoms, and diagnosis is succinct to that documented in 19V866000. VW customer service was contacted and advised that due to the vehicle VIN not included in current NHTSA campaign, it is not covered. VW is dodging responsibility in fixing this prevalent safety failure in Jetta Hybrids which makes the vehicle a safety hazard and worthless when considering the $10,000 repair estimate. They must me held accountable!!

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that his son mentioned to him that an abnormal squeaking noise was coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that a rubber piece was sitting underneath the rear driver’s side tire. Upon further inspection, he noticed that the wheel well was sitting on top of the rear driver’s side tire. The contact attempted to reach the dealer but instead left a voicemail. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 86,066.

My 2015 Jetta SE was making noises in the left front end. I was driving when something fell off my vehicle. I was able to stop and pick up the item that fell off. It was part of a coil spring that was from the left front side of my car. The VW dealer replaced the left front coil spring. That was 6 months ago. Recently, I heard a loud bang from under my car and a couple of days later a piece of coil spring came off of my car again, this time from the rear. I will be bringing in my car on 12/28/2022 to get this coil spring replaced.

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer for maintenance service and was informed that three of the coil springs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that 8 months later, the vehicle was taken back to dealer to be serviced for the tires and he was notified that the 4th coil spring was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

Since we've owned it (bought new), every coil spring has broken. The last one is being repaired today at the VW dealership. The car has about 77k miles. I have never had any springs break on any other car, and one had 120k miles on it. This is obviously a car defect and the part has been recalled for the golf and several other vehicles. This is also a safety hazard; what could happen if one breaks while going 70mph down a busy highway? I believe the first one broke maybe 4 years ago.

Rear suspension springs needed to be replaced. Both were snapped in two pieces, one happened to be broken but held together (stacked top to bottom) as two separate pieces. Nothing occurred to the car to cause this. Car has approximately 90,000 miles.

A warning lamp came on that I didn’t know what it was for. It came on yesterday along with a tire warning lamp. The steering wheel buttons won’t work. I had it inspected by a local service center and it was confirmed to be the clock spring. I was informed it may fall under an active recall. It is a safety issue due to the airbag not being able to deploy if need be.

CAR WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH ON A SUBURBAN STREET AND WAS BROAD SIDED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE IMPACT AREA WAS DRIVERS FRONT TIRE AND THE A POST. CAR WAS DECLARED TOTAL BY INSURANCE COMPANY. CONCERN IS, THE DRIVERS DOOR AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS IMPACT WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO RIP THE A POST IN THE MIDDLE AND BUCKLE IT INWARD. THE IMPACT WAS BEFORE THE DOOR WHICH SHOULD OF TRIGGERED THE AIRBAG. THE CAR THAT HIT MINE RIPPED THE OUTER SHELL FROM THE DOOR AND PUNCTURE A LARGE HOLE IN THE LOWER FRONT CORNER. THE ARM TO PROTECT THE DRIVER THAT IS LOCATED IN THE DOOR WAS ALSO SEVERELY DAMAGED. I HAD A BODY SHOP TECHNICIAN LOOK AT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WHICH CAN BE SEEN IN THE DOOR AND THERE IS DAMAGE ALL AROUND THE SENSOR. WHY WOULDN'T THE AIR BAG GO OFF WITH SUCH A HARD IMPACT SO CLOSE TO THE DRIVER IN A SMALL COMPACT CAR?? *TR

SERVICE BRAKES

Bottom line: brakes failed to stop car on decline slope. Situation: driver depressed brake and hit start button. With brakes still depressed the driver put the car into gear. However, the gear jolted and the car began rolling forward. Driver attempted to press the brakes without any response. The car rolled to a stop without any control over braking or accelerating. Once stopped the driver put the car back into park and pressed the start button. The car then ignited and started. After starting, pressure came back into the brake pedal and the engine revved when the accelerator was pressed. No issues were detected after the car started. Available for inspection upon request. Safety: the safety of the driver and surrounding persons was endangered due to the vehicle’s inability to stop when the brakes are depressed. Reproduction: the problem has not been reproduced by a dealer, however a second Reddit user describes a similar situation happening in their Jetta. Inspection: part has not been inspected since the incident but was regularly checked before. Warning: no warning lights were on before the event occurred. Car seemed to operate normally.

I HAVE OWNED THIS USED VEHICLE FOR 3 MONTHS. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKE AT LOW SPEED (10-15MPH) THE BRAKE PEDAL STUCK IN PLACE AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN. THIS BRAKE FAILURE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. DURING SAID ACCIDENT, AT LOW IMPACT, THE AIRBAG WAS TRIGGERED TO DEPLOY. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THE AIRBAG OR SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE, AS I HAVE BEEN IN A MUCH MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH AN OLDER JETTA THAT DID NOT RESULT IN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I AM AT RISK OF HAVING MY VEHICLE TOTALED OUT BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES WHEN IT NORMALLY WOULD BE REPAIRABLE.

Car cut off twice while driving and could not be restarted for 14 - 25 minutes. This happened while driving. I took it to both an independent mechanic and a vw dealer, bit they were unable to diagnose the issue. Also, after being driven, intermittently the car will not start for 15 - 25 min. CAR IS RANDOMLY BUCKING AND OR HESITATING. MANY TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND KILLS THE ENGINE. I'M GOING TO GET KILLED IF THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. ITS BEEN DOING THIS FOR MONTHS.

THE LOCAL DEALER COMFORTABLE VOLKSWAGEN (2035 WEST AIRPORT FREEWAY, IRVING TX) AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V028000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

I STARTED TO SMELL OF GASOLINE IN MY CAR WHILE DRIVING IT. CALLED VW GROUP OF AMERICA COSTUMER SERVICE NUMBER WHO SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. AFTER INSPECTING THE CAR FOR TWO (2) DAYS, THE DEALER, SOUTH MOTORS VW, VERBALLY REPORTED THE PROBLEM CAUSE WAS A FUEL LEAK AT THE INJECTION SYSTEM: FUEL RAIL. JUST AS DESCRIBED IN THE 15V028000 RECALL. VW GROUP OF AMERICA HAS DECLINED MY REQUEST TO ACCEPT THIS FAILURE AS PART OF THE REFERENCE RECALL UNDER THE ALLEGATION THAT THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THE VEHICLE HAS MORE THAN 36,000 MILES. (ACTUAL MILEAGE: 47,500). IN ROUTE ON MASSACHUSETTS 495 SOUTH AT ONE POINT WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO ADD MORE POWER TO THE CAR TO SPEED UP THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE. I RELEASED THE GAS PEDAL NO SHAKING OCCURRED. THREE DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT PRIME VOLKSWAGEN AND THEY SAID THE FUEL IN MY TANK WAS NOT PURE DIESEL FUEL, THAT IT WAS CONTAMINATED. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME I FILLED THE CAR WITH GAS INSTEAD OF DIESEL FUEL. I HAD BROUGHT THEM THE RECEIPT WHEN I LAST FILLED MY TANK. IT WAS THE MORNING OF MY TRIP HEADING DOWN TO CONNECTICUT. ON THAT RECEIPT, IT STATES I USED FUEL PUMP NUMBER THREE WHICH IS A DIESEL FUEL PUMP. IT ALSO SHOWS HOW MANY GALLONS WERE FUELED AND THE PRICE. AFTER I SHOWED THAT RECEIPT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALERSHIP THEY THEN TRIED TO BLAME THE BIG APPLE GAS STATION SAYING THAT THEIR FUEL PUMPS ARE CONTAMINATED.

ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO WITH 16K MILES I CALLED VW AND INDICATED THAT MY JETTA SMELLED LIKE DIESEL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY JUST AN OVERFILLED FUEL TANK. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A LEAKY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. ON THE 2015 JETTA, THIS IS LOCATED ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THIS LITERALLY MEANS THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING DIRECTLY ONTO THE HOT ENGINE AND EXHAUST. THE LEAKING FUEL EVENTUALLY ATE THROUGH RADIATOR LINES AND CAUSED A COMPLETE LOSS OF COOLANT. OBVIOUSLY LEAKY FUEL + HOT ENGINE / EXHAUST = FIRE RISK. NOT TO MENTION THE COOLANT LOSS STRANDED MY FAMILY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE LOSS OF COOLANT HAPPENED AT CITY SPEEDS AND STRANDED MY FAMILY.

WHILE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON AND CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE SPEED, THE SPEED SETTING WILL SOMETIMES (I.E. UNPREDICTABLY AND INTERMITTENTLY) INCREASE THE SPEED TO THE CLOSEST 5 MPH INCREMENT WHEN COMMANDED TO DECREASE THE SPEED TO THE CLOSEST 5 MPH INCREMENT. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THIS ERROR DOZENS TO HUNDREDS OF TIMES BUT I CANNOT DISCERN A NOTABLE PATTERN AND THE BEHAVIOR SEEMS UNPREDICTABLE. THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE BUT HAS EXISTED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2014. EXAMPLE: I AM DRIVING AND SET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO "ON" TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE SPEED AT 63 MPH. I PRESS THE BUTTON THAT IS SUPPOSED TO DECREASE THE SPEED TO THE NEXT LOWEST MULTIPLE OF 5 (60 MPH) BUT IT WILL INSTEAD INCREASE THE SPEED TO 65 MPH. THE 60 TO 65 MPH RANGE IS SIMPLY AN EXAMPLE AND THE ISSUE EXISTS AT ALL SPEEDS, AS FAR AS I CAN TELL.

I’ve been experiencing intermittent start failures with my 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. The issue typically occurs after driving short distances, turning off the engine, and attempting to restart the vehicle within 15–45 minutes. The dashboard lights stay on, but the engine fails to crank. After extended wait times (1–3 hours or more), it will sometimes start again. A diagnostic scanner showed DTC IM 00, indicating an immobilizer system malfunction, meaning the car isn’t recognizing the key properly. I’ve tested both keys and various conditions (locked/unlocked, sun/shade, full/low gas tank), and the issue continues to be unpredictable. When the car was towed to the dealership, they were unable to replicate the problem since it started by the time they checked it, and they were unwilling to investigate the immobilizer issue without charging me for a wide range of unrelated tests. This is becoming a safety issue, especially if the vehicle stalls or won’t restart in isolated areas or during hot conditions. It is not acceptable for a known electronic security feature to randomly disable the vehicle from functioning.

The contact's wife owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal popping sound. The contact veered to the side of the road and opened the hood. The contact stated that he noticed that coolant had leaked onto the engine, and the coolant reservoir was empty. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact who is an independent mechanic, replaced the heater core hoses and added coolant to the vehicle; however, the failure recurred after 2,500 miles. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could be diagnosed, and a warranty claim could not be initiated because the check engine warning light was not illuminated. The low coolant pressure warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 73,860.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta active grille shutter. A shutter system on the front end of the vehicle on the lower half of the radiator that allows air flow during different temperatures. The shutter assembly along with the electrical motor seems to go bad after a set amount of time. Giving off a Check Engine Code P05A0 as the shutters freeze open. Volkswagen dealerships have quoted $700-900 to replace the assembly as the only fix with vehicles being out of warranty. A quick search online has determined that this is a known problem for all these vehicles, Volkswagen are aware as they released a newer engine for the assembly. Also the check engine code can not be cleared until the assembly is fixed or replaced, thus not allowing vehicles to pass annual registration or smog check here in California.

AFTER I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO REQUEST A LETTER STATING MY CAR WAS CLEAR AND DID NOT HAVE ANY RECALL ISSUES, I WAS TOLD THE LETTER COULD NOT BE ISSUED BECAUSE THERE WAS, INDEED, A RECALL ISSUE WHICH HAD TO DO WITH THE CAMSHAFT. I WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE DID NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT AND WOULD NOT HAVE ONE UNTIL MARCH 2016. I REQUESTED A LETTER STATING IT WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH MY CHILDREN AND FAMILY, BUT VW SAID THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO GIVE SUCH A LETTER STATING THAT THE MODEL OF THE CAR WAS "SAFE TO DRIVE". I TOLD THEM I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING A CAR THAT COULD POTENTIALLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH TO MY FAMILY-- AT THAT POINT, VW AGREED TO TOW MY CAR AND TO REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT (EVEN THOUGH I WAS INITIALLY TOLD BY VW THAT THE CAMSHAFT REPLACEMENT WOULD CAUSE THE VERY SAME ISSUE). I RECEIVED THE VW JETTA SE 1.8T BACK FROM PUGI DEALERS LAST THURSDAY AND WAS TOLD THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS. TODAY, I DROVE HALF MILE FROM MY HOME TO THE LAUNDRY AND WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR, THE CAR WOULD NOT START, THE LIGHT INDICATOR FOR "STEERING MALFUNCTION AND ENGINE ISSUES" CAME ON. I CALLED VW AND THEY HAVE TOWED THE CAR TO PUGI DEALERSHIP, YET AGAIN, AND I DO NOT HAVE A CAR - ONCE AGAIN- TO TAKE MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL AND WORK, ETC. THERE IS A VERY OBVIOUS AND SERIOUS ISSUE WITH MY CAR. IT IS NOT SOMETHING TO PLAY WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES OVER, SINCE VW TOLD ME IT CANNOT BE FIXED AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH.

BOUGHT A 2015 JETTA SE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015. VEHICLE WAS ONLY SERVICED BY A LICENSED DEALERSHIP IN MARYLAND, AND HAD JUST HAD IT'S 20,000 SERVICE. TOLD THE TIRES WERE FINE, AND DEALER ROTATED THEM. WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT 5-10 MPH, THE TWO PASSENGER TIRES BLEW OUT FROM THE SIDEWALL WITH A LOUD POPPING SOUND. NO OBSTACLES, OR NAILS/GLASS ETC. IN THE ROAD, AND NOTHING WAS RAN OVER. TIRES ONLY HAD 20,500 MILES ON THEM, AND WERE RATED 8/32 BY THE DEALER TWO WEEKS AGO AT THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT. UPON RESEARCHING, THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TIRES, MADE BY CONTINENTAL, BLOWING OUT ON THE SIDEWALL. I drove over a commercial-grade water hose unraveled in the middle of the lane. It had metal couplings on it and my oil pan was damaged due to the low riding body of the VW to the road. The vehicle was drivable for 5 minutes afterward & the low engine pressure light turned on, but I was in a dangerous area with traffic during rush hour in the evening. It was congested with multiple avenues of transportation via buses, scooters, and pedestrian crosswalks. I started to lose power steering and the gas pedal would not accelerate the car, but the brakes still worked. I was able to coast the car to a stop & nearby a Midas car shop. Midas replaced the damaged oil pan and did not have any other damage reported. Midas informed me that my vehicle would not start, but failed to mention that the safety of my vehicle was compromised with rolled down windows. I inspected my car on 8.20.24, the battery was still working & powered the lights but the window power and engine would not operate. On 8.22.24 I paid for the work & noticed the windows were now rolled up & Midas said an employee used the power from the battery to override the window system but the car still would not start and needed to go to a dealership to access the engine codes for this hybrid vehicle. Towed the vehicle to VW, who said that Midas was not accurate in their description, as there were no access codes needed for the vehicle & it should have started once the oil pan was replaced. The VW diagnostic results showed a “bad” battery and the transmission failed/ stopped engaging and needed a replacement of the transmission along with the battery which would total $11K! The VW agent recommended that I contact other car repair companies to rebuild it for a more affordable solution. Midas and VW were the only car repair companies to evaluate my car and it is currently at VW where it can be inspected if needed. The safety recall code: 34J6, of 2015 VW Jetta Hybrids somehow exclude some VINs until owners had issues.

I purchased a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta from North Coast Auto Mall on March 19, 2023 and the following day several issues went wrong with the vehicle like: The car reeked of gasoline, oil and engine lights came on, driver side head light blew out. Also, I was told that the car had an inspection, come to find out they didn't do an inspection by North Coast Service manager, so they lied. Also, the reason for the gasoline smell is because the vehicle needs a fuel rack, oil pan, oil pressure switch, and a new headlight. Too many things are going wrong with this car in such a short period of time. It took North Coast two weeks to take my vehicle and they didn't want to give me a loaner car. Also, they have had my vehicle since March 28, 2023 and refuse to disclose of the reconditioning shop of my vehicle. They moved my car from Volkswagen Of Streetsboro to North Coast to another undisclosed location that they won't disclose. Lastly, the car was unsafe for me and my special needs son. He couldn't even ride in my car due to the bad gasoline fumes and I had to ride with the windows down, and come to find out the car could have caught on fire or exploded.

After running multiple errands the car will fail to start. Usually after 5-10 minutes it will start again. Every time it will crank but not fully. Lights and blinkers are operational still as well. I have taken it to the Volkswagen three times for repair each time was unsuccessful. The first time the speedometer cluster was repaired, then the wires were worked on, then the whole battery was replaced and it still is not fixed. Not only does it have issues starting but it also shuts off while driving which is a safety concern. I noticed there was a recall on this issue before so it seems to be a recurring issue.

The throttle became stiff. The contact veered off the highway and to the side of the road. The contact drove home with the hazard lights flashing. The contact then spoke with the dealer however, no appointment had been scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. 1. Overtime, i noticed my car starts to jerk during acceleration and would accelerate, completely stall for about 2 seconds before getting back in forward motion. It when that jerk happens, it feels like the car is suddenly in neutral for those few seconds. This has been happening more frequently and has now been happening every other green light. This seems dangerous and I also don’t like that it does this on the highway. 2. steering wheel has some resistance issues. 3. ECM is malfunctioning because my dashboard constantly shows at least 5 incorrect warning check lights. Sometimes they change to other check lights, sometimes they appear and disappear when it wants. Very frustrating.

ON THE WAY TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME INCIDENT WITH MY ESC AND ENGINE LIGHT OCCURRED. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED IT; THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T STAY ON. I ARRIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAIT FOUR HOURS TO BE TOLD THE DIAGNOSTICS SHOW NO HISTORY OF ANY INCIDENTS OR IMPAIRED DRIVABILITY. I AM WRITING TO ADVISE YOU OF A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. I OWN A 2015 JETTA. AFTER A HEAVY RAIN, AND USUALLY AFTER PASSING THROUGH STANDING WATER, THE CAR LOSES POWER AND STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THREE OCCASIONS RECENTLY. I FIRST TOOK THE CAR TO MY OWN MECHANIC, AN EXPERIENCED TECHNICIAN WITH A MAJOR REPAIR FRANCHISE. HE WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED, I TOOK IT BACK AND HE AGAIN TESTED IT BUT WAS UNABLE TO SAY FOR SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HOWEVER, HE NOTED THAT THERE WAS AN AIR INTAKE IN THE FRONT END THAT MIGHT HAVE TAKEN IN WATER AND CAUSED THE ISSUE. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP (BURLINGTON VOLKSWAGEN) AND THEY WERE ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC THERE ALSO INDICATED THAT IT MIGHT BE DUE TO WATER ENTERING THE AIR INTAKE IN THE FRONT END. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS WOULD BE A DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THROUGH PUDDLES, WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY NOT A PRACTICAL SOLUTION. I THEN ASKED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. THE ONLY OPTION THE REPRESENTATIVE THERE OFFERED WAS FOR ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO ANOTHER VW DEAIERSHIP, WHICH I AM UNWILLING TO DO AT MY PERSONAL EXPENSE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY OWN AND MY WIFE'S SAFETY WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN, BUT VOLKSWAGEN IS BASICALLY TELLING ME THAT THEY CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. *TT VW REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANICS DIAGNOSE AND TO DARK VW SLATES NOT HAPPENING. DEFECT TIRES, WINDOWS, SMELL FROM HEATER DETECT SHOCKS, SHUTS.
