I got off work and was on my way to the pharmacy to pick up a very critical medication. When I got to the destination I was not able to turn off my car the key was stuck in the ignition and the car was in running mode I could not turn it. I struggled with it for about 20 minutes and eventually had to leave the car running unattended to go in and and get the medication. Thankfully the car was still there when I returned so I drove it to a mechanic and they were not able to turn it off...there were no warning lights that came on to warn me that this would happen, by this time it was after business hours. I was stranded with a running car and no way to turn it off my only option was to let it run and run out of gas so I drove to a wolkswagen dealership planning on leaving it there overnight and letting it run out of gas. When I got there a sales representative was still on site, he could not turn the car off either the key was stuck. He had to kill the battery in order to get the car to stop running. I feel very indenjured driving this car because I don't know what to expect anymore. It was a very horifing evening. I had to figure out a way home with no warning. This is not safe and the malfunctioning part should be recalled...I have done some research online and there have been other people with the same problem and no warning including one of them to be a coworker of mine who had to pick up her daughter from school and was forced to leave her car unattended with the same problem. I am in very much stress over this while the dealership says they want me to pay over $ 900 hundred dollars to fix the problem. There was no warning light it is a malfunction and there should be a recaall this is not safe. Please help!

The car horn has stopped working along with my alarm horn. Not the first jetta ive had this issue with. My previous one had the same issue where one day it wud work and then stop working.

The contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while the vehicle was being serviced for an inspection, she was informed that the horn was not functioning properly. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and had the horn repaired however, the failure recurred. The independent mechanic informed the contact that there was water in the horn and the horn needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,937.

The contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal chemical odor entering the cabin of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer however, failure was undetermined. The contact was informed that the air conditioning assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

BURNSIDE ST, PORTLAND, OR 97233, (503) 822-3467) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HORN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE KEY FOB AND ALARM FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,890.

My camshaft sensors went bad at 77k miles had it towed to auto repair. Auto shop said my timing tensioner and chain were worn and needed replacement. Cost was 6200.00. A month later the engine blew at 81k miles. This was a lease for the first 3 years so all maintenance was done by Volkswagen. I had it serviced three times after that. Sits in my garage half the year as I travel by airplane or tour bus for work so no need to drive all the time. This shouldn’t be happening.

I bought the car brand new in 2016 had the oil changed on its scheduled maintenance and at 77000 mile my timing chain made my car go into limp mode. Now I am looking at a 4700$ in mechanic and engine work.

There is an issue with the amount of engine oil used. It is burned up at a rapid pace. This has caused my car to malfunction (EPC light turns on). This happened to me driving on the highway it put myself and my passengers in danger as the car would slow down and jerk abruptly. My car has been inspected by a VW dealership. They found no issue on it. However, when taking it to an independent VW mechanic shop, I was informed this is a common issue in this car. They engine oil burns drastically. This has caused me to spend a significant amount of money to replenish the oil level every week. My current situation is using about 3 quartz of oil every 1500 miles! Otherwise, my car will run with no oil which could lead to permanent engine problems and dangerous driving conditions. The low oil warning goes off almost all the time. I was quoted a repair cost from an independent shop of more than $3,000 to fix this well known issue by reconstructing parts of the car to mirror newer models for which VW fixed this problem. This indicates to me VW is aware of this factory defect. Moreover, tons of people are reporting this issue online. I recall is in order.

Water pump and thermostat housing inspected and needing to be replaced according to inspection by Volkswagen Welsey Chapel on this 2016 Jetta. The quoted repair needs immediate attention and costs $1025.46. A leaking water pump could also cause the engine to stop functioning while the car is in motion. Even if the driver pulled over, being stranded on the side of a highway waiting for a tow could be dangerous. I notified VW customer care and was directed NHTSA as there is no recall for this cars year. There were not warnings of this issue until noticed at inspection. Volkswagen has yet to issue a recall for this severe problem.

I got this vehicle at 36,000 miles and I have put 23,000 on it in one year. There have been no warning messages. I was in idle and my RPMs started jumping I put it in reverse ( jumping stopped) , then drive to have the vehicle get a mile or two down the road and completely die. I was rear ended . Got it into a repair shop to be told by a certified mechanic it was throwing codes for the camshaft as well as needing an evap purge at just under 60,000 miles.

I returned the 1st car I got because it was a little bit too expensive.I started the process of buying a vehicle through carviana a month ago. I returned the 1st car I got because it was a little hard to drive. The 2nd vehicle a kia opitima i received had mechanical issues. the car would constantly try to turn over when you pushed the push start and it wouldn't catch for a good 5 seconds. So I return the optima for a jetta. When I looked at the mileage on the Kia Optima I noticed that the mileage that was showing on the screen was way off from what they posted online. But I figured it was just a one time mistake. Now the 2016 jetta that was delivered on May 24th 2023, came with no headlight, a radio/navigation system that didn't work, the brakes were bad and they used some type of editing software on their photos and blurred out the ripped and torn leather seat. I called and they reluctantly agreed to take it back and allow me to purchase a 2018 Honda Civic. So I cleaned my stuff out from the jetta. I am supposed to meet them tomorrow at 7 PM. I looked at the mileage so I could try to figure out if I was going to owe them any money because I have had the car since the 24th of May. I live right next door to where I work and I only left a few times to go to my father's who lives a 1/2 hour from me. Online carvana stated that this car came with 80XXX miles. When I looked down at the dash I see that the car is at 83XXX miles. Now I have proof of me on camera,my boss can vouch for me, my roommate can vouch for me, my father can vouch for me and I can show on video that there's no way possible that I had time to drive 3000 miles. Carvana puts the wrong odometer reading. And this is now the 2nd car that this has happened with. I bet i am not the only consumer who they have done this to. Carvana purposefully posts the milage as less so if/when you exchange the car they charge you $1 for miles that you never drove.

My car has started not letting me remove my key from the ignition i cannot turn off my car! I have seen mulitple complaints about this issue with these cars and i dont understand why theres not a recall for it I will have to pay $900 to get a new ignition switch and ignition lock for something that is a known issue!! I should not have to pay that when all these complaints have been made for the same issue

Fuel fire hazard. Safety Recall 24Gi performed 5-11-21 @ 67k miles. 4 years and 60k miles later, fuel rail bolts backed out, causing fuel to pour into engine compartment. VW’s repair solution was not adequate. Do I have any recourse?

FUEL LINE TO FUEL FILTER CAME LOOSE/DISCONNECTED CAUSING A FUEL LEAK INSIDE MY ATTACHED. GARAGE CAUSING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE THAT REMAINS TO PRESENT DAY EVEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CLEAN UP.

I brought my car in for the 60k service and the check engine light had just turned on. After being told they had to run a diagnostic and keep my car for several days, the dealership came back with "it had a fault for a purge valve. Tested the purge valve with a vacuum tester and found it would not hold a vacuum." I was asked if my emissions was due soon, but I had emissions completed two months ago with no problems. This issue is a big deal and I know VW has had many public issues with their emissions. I barely drive this car and to have such a major issue occur is mind blowing. The dealership quoted me $890. for this repair when I see the average cost of this repair is about $300-400 with parts. I had it completed, but no one wants to talk to me about why I was charged so much when this technically should be a recall.

Vehicle begins to shudder and slow with no response to attempts to accelerate and eventually stop completely though engine is still on. This has happened on multiple occasions and in many driving situations including on busy streets or in the middle of turning which is a huge risk for an accident! Can restart with regular acceleration after a few minutes. Service indicators will come on with codes indicating transmission related issues. Have had transmission flushed without significant change with transmission replacement as next step.

The vehicle lost it's ability to shift into gear and accelerate on a busy road, almost causing a collision. Pulled over and it failed to shift into any gears, (as if it was in neutral with a higher engine RPM). According to the technician at the Volkswagon dealership it was a complete internal failure of the transmission, with an estimated cost of $8,600 for a new transmission. Looked up the issue on a popular car complaint site and saw the exact same symptoms from another driver but their technician suggested to replace the Mechatronic J743 with the transmission hydraulic pressure sensor G270. Their repair estimate was approximately $3,800. I brought this issue up to my technician's representative but I feel it fell onto deaf ears. Considering commission being attributed to the cost of repairs, I don't think it would be unbiased. I contacted VW customer service as I was told this was a "known issue" for the hybrid models and my year being the last of the 4 years in production. They were no help either. Major loss of trust on this car and Volkswagon in general.

This driver has been quoted for a new transmission by VW. There is an existing recall for 2013-2015 Jetta hybrids for the same symptoms as listed below. The issue was preceded by a check engine light and a service hybrid system light and inconsistent braking force that would often pose a system risk as regenerative braking would often stop working forcing the driver to quickly apply more pressure unexpectedly (almost resulting in front end accidents). Now , the car is jerky while stopping and still unpredictable in its application of brake force. When taking off from lights, occasionally the transmission will stop providing power from the hybrid system to the wheels forcing driver to stop and restart the car in the intersection resulting in near accidents. The car’s gas engine often will fail to start while driving resulting in a loss of power when the car’s hybrid battery is depleted. The driver has had to pull over to stop and restart the car. Failure to start often happens on first startup as well. The car will no longer remain in electric mode due to this issue and often cycles the engine on and off many times while sitting at red lights.

IN APRIL 1 2021 I WAS DRIVING FROM HOME TO MY JOB IN DCH TUSTIN ACURA DELAR IS 10 MIN DRIVE WHEN I TAKE THE EXIT OF FREEWAY I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR DON'T BRAKE , THE PEDAL GO ALL WAY DOWN AND THE CAR DON'T STOP , A TECHNICIAN SAID THAT IS A PROBLEM WHIT THE MASTER CYLINDER . WHAT CAN I DO NOW?.

"BRAKE FAILURE" SON WAS DRIVING VEHICLE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM STARTED TO GO HE SLOWLY FOLLOWED. HE WAS GOING ABOUT 10-15MPH, AND THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF HIM SLAMMED ON BRAKES SUDDENLY. WHEN CAUSED HIM TO HAVE TO BRAKE. WHEN HE HIT THE BRAKES HE HEARD A BOOM ( SOUNDED LIKE A TIN CAN CRUSHING) AND THE CONTINUED TO SLIDE INTO THE TOYOTA TACOMA IN FRONT OF HIM. THE JETTA IS A TOTAL LOSS.

TODAY (NOV14, 2018) WHEN I BRAKED TO AVOID RUNNING INTO A BRAKING CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO REDUCE SPEED AT ALL. IT RESULTED IN A CRASH THAT DEPLOYED 5 AIR BAGS OF MY CAR. THE SAME CAR HAD A SIMILAR ACCIDENT IN WHICH BRAKE DIDN'T WORK ON MARCH 7, 2018.

Even after having the fuel system replaced due to recall, I’m still smelling gas inside of my car. My EPC light and Check Engine light keep coming on and don’t always stay on but when it comes on, while driving… my car will tell me to downshift and then there is no throttle, you can mash the gas pedal to the floor and only dash lights. It has also skipped the downshift indicator and just cut completely off while driving.

We purchased the car in May 2021, within a week, the check engine light, EPC and oil lamp became illuminated. Contacted dealership who "inspected" it and said "nothing was wrong and reset the lights." A few weeks go by and the same thing. We noticed the car was "stuttering" during acceleration. We attempted to bring it to the dealership they couldn't inspect our vehicle because they didn't have "availability". My husband brought it to a local mechanic who recommended bringing it to the dealership again because of the codes it was throwing. We scheduled an appt which was 4 months out. During that time the oil was changed every 1.5 months because the lights kept coming on. Moved to Mississippi and the issues became worse. The vehicle would seem to lose power while driving on the interstate causing a Semi to veer into the other lane because the car went from 70mph to 20mph in a matter of seconds. Brought it to VW of South MS, was told Timing case, sealant, rail, tensioner, gasket, and several other things were needed to be replaced. Was told the vehicle was burning oil, lower timing cover was replaced and found bolts from tensioner broken and metal shavings. Was charged over $2500. 1 week later same exact issues occurred again. Brought it in, reset lights told us "it's fine" Few weeks of the car not being driven, happens again. We bring it back and they inform us of an array of "new issues" charges us $2000 and within a week the car is back for the same exact issue. I reviewed the recalls but it is saying none of them apply to my vehicle but they are the exact things that are going on. It is unsafe to drive the car. My husband will not allow me to drive it out of fear that it will stall and result in a serious MVA. Why isn't VW doing anything about this issue? How many people have to get injured or killed for them to conduct an investigation for this issue?

Had an accident in Dec where passenger side was hit in the center. The center rail that connects 2 doors was hit so airbags deployed due to roof being pushed in by center bar. But only back airbag had a little air. Front airbag was flat. I took it to the dealer and a month later they are telling me that is normal but I took the picture right after the accident and there is no air in front passenger bag. I told them my child is lucky to be alive. But i know its dangerous if other people are travelling in the same type car as mine. Also bag in the back has a lot of air and no fold creases because it was filled with air. Front airbag looks like it was folded and just fell out and since it has no air all the creases where it folded in roof are still there.

The contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated upon entering the vehicle, there was a strong gasoline odor. Additionally, the vehicle experienced a rough start. The electronic power control (EPC) and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle; however, the gasoline odor became stronger and stronger while driving and the vehicle would not exceed 20 MPH. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact’s father met her on the side of the road and upon inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that gasoline was leaking out of the fuel rail upon starting the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel rail needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V648000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall and recall repairs were completed one-time free of charge. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised as the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

The contact owned a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving at 15-25 MPH, she smelled a strong burning gas odor. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact felt an intense heat on her legs. The contact saw a flame on the driver's side of the hood and quickly exited the vehicle. The contact stated that there was also fire underneath the driver's side of the hood. The fire was extinguished with the assistance of the fire department. There were no injuries sustained. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. A police report was not filed. The contact became aware that her VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V648000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

Unable to turn car off and remove key while ignition is in park. Cause the car to continue to run while trying to wiggle key out. Unable to remove key after moving steering wheel back and forth, placing care in neutral will not help and placing the care back in park does not fix the issue. This seems to be a known common issue and proposes a safety issue if driver is unable to turn care off. I’ve had this experience at 9pm during a time where no mechanical help is accessible. Major safety issue of leaving a care running idle for extended period of time. Issue definitely needs to be addressed

IGNITION CYLINDER AND HOUSING ISSUES . KEY GOT STUCK IN IGNITION AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF THE CAR . THE CAR WAS ON AND RUNNING FOR 4 HOURS STRAIGHT WHILE I WAITED FOR AAA TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP . I HAD TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER , BOLT AND STEER LOCK .

After owning the tires for 35000 miles the tires started to split on all four. Shaking was notice about a week before 5/22/21 when i got up to 65 miles an hour on the interstate. Tread life was good on the tires and the tire shop helped me get new ones. I had no warning and I rotated my tires every 4000 miles or so.

BOUGHT THESE TIRES AND TWICE NOTICED BUBBLES ON SIDEWALL APPEAR. HAPPENS 1 MONTH AFTER BEING NEW. MAYBE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. HAD GET THEM REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY WITH LOW MILEAGE. TIRE BRAND MAVIS TIRE TRACTION CONTROL.

THE HANKOOK TIRES I HAVE ARE BOLDING WAY TOO EARLY. THEY STARTED TO AT 32,000 FOR THE FIRST 2 TIRES AND 18,000 FOR THE OTHER 2. THE TIRES ARE RATED FOR 70,000 MILES AND I'M NOT GETTING ANYWHERE NEAR THAT. EVERY TIME IT RAINS I HYDROPLANE AND ITS NOW UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE MY CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED HANKOOK AND WAS TOLD TO GO TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE. SO I GO TO VW AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ALL 4 BUT ONLY THE 2. AFTER SOME ARGUING THEY TELL ME TO DRIVE AROUND ON MY BOLDING TIRES AND WERE THEM DOWN MORE AND THEY WILL TRY TO GET ME NEW TIRES BUT I WOULD STILL HAVE TO PAY. THIS IS UNSAFE FOR A CAR DEALER TO TELL ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING ON THE, EVEN AFTER THEY SEEN HOW WORN DOWN THEY WERE! THIS IS ALSO THE 2ND SET OF TIRES I HAD FOR THIS CAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR ONLY HAS 52000 MILES NOW.

ON JULY 1ST ,2020 UPON ARRIVAL TO A STORE ONCE IN PARK AND I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL MEANING THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE SHUT OFF AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THINKING IT WAS LOCKED I FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO SHUT OFF AFTER GOOGLING IT AND READING MANY OTHER FORUMS THAT TALKED ABOUT THE SAME CAR ISSUE I WAS HAVING IT SAID TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THEN TO TURN THE KEY SO I DID AND IT FINALLY SHUT OFF IT STAYED PARKED TILL JULY 6 TH THAT I WENT TO A FEW DIFFERENT MECHANICS IN TOWN I FOUND ONE THAT TRIED TO HELP SAME WITH HIM HE COULD NOT TURN THE KEY TO SHUT THE CAR OFF HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BEING THAT IT WAS AN HOUR AWAY AND I WAS LOW ON GAS I HAD TO PUMP GAS WITH THE CAR RUNNING BECAUSE I AGAIN WAS NOT ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF WHICH I FELT UNSAFE DOING BUT AT THIS POINT I NO LONGER KNEW WHAT TO DO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE LEAVING SHE SAID THEY WERE BACKED UP BUT TO COME DOWN AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP ME UNTIL FRIDAY!! WHILE THE WORKER WAS SITTING IN MY CAR AND HE HIMSELF COULD NOT SHUT OFF I TOLD HIM WHERE IN THE PARKING LOT SHOULD I LEAVE IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I COULD TAKE IT HOME AND LEAVE IT RUNNING FOR 3 DAYS THEY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING AND ALREADY HAD THE HOOD UP TRYING TO SHUT THE CAR OFF THEY CALLED AND SAID IT WOULD BE 740.00 PLUS TAXES MIND YOU IT ALREADY HAD A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR THE 13TH FOR 2 RECALLS IT HAD ALREADY.

While driving in the morning rush hour my vehicle lost power. As I pushed on the accelerator the vehicle did not speed up and maxed out at 40 mph. I was not able to keep up with the speed limit or traffic and I pulled over to the shoulder to get out of traffic so that I did not cause an accident. Dealer confirmed that my transmission had gone out. The check engine light came on.

- Evap System, it is available for inspection upon request. - The check engine light will not turn off because of electrical wiring due to a faulty connection with the Evap system. It has been checked and there are no leaks and I have been told by three locations that it is a electrical wiring issue. Since the check engine light will not turn off I can not be notified if there are other issues that may cause a check engine light to turn on and my family's safety is at risk because I do not know if it is only because of a electrical wiring issue. - The problem has been checked by three local auto shops who have all smoked the Evap system but have never found a leak and have each individually told me it is a wiring issue. - It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others to my knowledge because the car was sold to me by a dealership anything prior to that event I am not aware of. - They first appeared one week and a half from purchase from the dealership. The dealership said it would not fix it because it wasn't in their books. The check engine light turned on when I turned on the car after that time period. I was not driving when it had turned on.

THIS IS THE BASE MODEL S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 1.4 TSI. THIS VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE A GAUGE FOR MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE. UNABLE TO MAKE A DECISION PROMPTLY IF THE CAR STARTS TO HEAT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE CAR APPARENTLY HAS A MECHANISM TO LOWER THE RPMS IF THE CAR STARTS HEATING AND HAS A LIGHT INDICATING THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM BUT IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT IN 2016 YOU CAN'T SEE THE ENGINE TEMERATURE. I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS WHILE TESTING THE CAR BEFORE DOING THE PURCHASE AND THOUGHT IT WAS A MATTER OF CONFIGURATION BUT CONFIRMED THIS WITH THE MANUAL. THIS CAR HAS 85 MILES AND WHEN RUNNING THROUGH A SLOPE IN RURAL AREA IF IT DECIDES TO DOWN SHIFT THERES A BUMP OR A KNOCK IN THE TRANSMUTATION AS IF YOU WERE ABUSING THE CAR AND THE MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION MOUNTS CAN'T HOLD ITS FORCE. IT REALLY FEELS AWFUL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS SHOULD HAPPEN SMOOTHLY BUT IT DOESN'T. The problem happens when the car is on, and when attempting to accelerate the car will feel like it was put into neutral and you cannot do anything other than coast. The car has done this a few times while driving. Also, when trying to accelerate from a stop at a signal light, the car can suddenly stall, and you won't be able to do anything. From a safety standpoint, this is very bad since if you had to quickly accelerate to avoid a collision or other possible scenario and the car won't move, or accelerate, to reach speeds on a freeway or highway. Problem occurred last night when attempting to accelerate and merge onto the highway, felt like the car was in neutral ('D' light was blinking as well as the 'Hybrid' light). What is concerning is that VW did know about this problem and they only did a recall for very small number of vehicles. We called VW and they said no recalls on our 2016 Jetta Hybrid for this problem. I'm reporting the problem here because we have experienced the same problem multiple times and the dealer said to replace the Mechatronic J743 unit, this was very cost prohibited for us at the time.

MY VEHICLE HAS STARTED TO HESITATE WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE RANDOMLY. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I DRIVE BUT IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK. I WILL PRESS MY GAS, AND MY CAR WILL HESITATE, I HEAR IT REVVING BUT MY RPMS GO NOWHERE. IT'S ALMOST LIKE IT'S NOT CATCHING. THIS WILL OCCUR FOR AROUND 5 SECONDS, LEAVING ME INCAPABLE OF MOVING. IT HAS LEFT ME STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS, TAKING UNSAFE TURNS OUT OF PARKING LOTS, ETC. IT IS A VERY SCARY ISSUE. HOWEVER, NO CHECK ENGINE OR OTHER LIGHTS ILLUMINATE AT THAT MOMENT, AND NO CODES ARE FOUND WHEN THE CAR IS SCANNED. I HAVE A SPRINT DRIVE DEVICE THAT IS CONSTANTLY PLUGGED IN TO THE OEM PORT AND IT HAS NEVER PICKED UP ON AN ISSUE WHICH MAKES DIAGNOSIS VERY DIFFICULT. THERE IS CURRENTLY AN NHTSA OPEN RECALL (23R1) THAT APPLIES TO THE 1.8 AND 2.0 TURBO GASOLINE ENGINE, BUT IT SHOULD CLEARLY INCLUDE THE 1.4 TURBO GAS ENGINE. THIS IS A MAJOR, SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE TO SELL A CAR WITH. When driving the car, it will randomly stall, lose power or not accelerate. Sometimes the EPC light and oil light will illuminate other times it gives no warning. It shut off on the interstate while going 72mph. I have taken it to the dealership since a month after I got it and they keep telling me nothing is wrong with it. I have to get oil changes every month despite not driving it much and the gas consumption is 3tines what it should be. I’m having to fill the tank up three times a week despite going to and from work which is 9 miles from my home. I have taken it to the dealership and had to pay $1000s of dollars only for it to start having the same issues within a week

When driving above 45 mph, at time the EPC light will pop up on the dash and power will be slightly lost to the vehicle. Almost immediately after this happens, the oil light will pop on despite the oil being changed and done on a beyond routine basis. we have brought the vehicle into be serviced at the Volkswagen dealership numerous times and the same thing continues to happen. Recently, when driving on the interstate the EPC light came on and the vehicle stalled in the middle of the interstate. Luckily, no accident was caused but it was a near miss. This has been an issue since purchasing the vehicle and the oil is required to be changed much sooner than necessary. Volkswagen keeps "fixing" it but it continues to happen but we have paid over $3500 in getting it "fixed." The problem seems to occur at random times but most notably when going over 45mph.

The contact stated that while accelerating from idling, the vehicle jolted with the check engine, ABS, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System warning lights illuminated. Additionally, while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the vehicle began decelerating to approximately 30 MPH. The contact pulled to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle but could not identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle was driven, and the contact became aware that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. After waiting for a while, the electrical power returned but the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic suggested that the transmission might be the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

The contact stated that upon her mother and sister approaching the vehicle, they noticed that the front driver’s side door was on fire. The contact then stated that her sister used her hand in an attempt to pat the fire away. As a result, the contact’s sister sustained an injury to her right hand that required medical attention. The fire department was notified, and the fire was extinguished. The fire department determined that the origin of the fire was electrical. A police report was filed. The contact stated that her mother then received recall notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V648000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the contact stated that the dealer refused service. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. -The front right passenger electrical system that contains the wiring in order for the front headlight and front high beam to function properly suddenly started a short circuit and caused the front passenger light system wiring to catch fire to that part and the parts that surround it. The car is available for inspection at any time. -My safety was put at risk because my vehicle caught fire in a matter of seconds and spread so fast that it was impossible to stop the fire without requesting help of the Miami Gardens Fire Department that arrived on the scene as fast as they could a few minutes later. Other vehicles waiting at the traffic light were also put at risk because of the fire, smoke, and the hazardous wastes that could've possibly led to an explosion from the fire spreading over the whole right side of the engine. -The problem hasn't been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer; however, I do have a police report that states that the Miami Gardens Fire Department confirmed it was an electrical problem that started the fire and the severity of the damage that they believed was a total loss. The vehicle fire was able to be put out once the Miami Dade Fire Rescue got there and managed to stop the fire. The police officer inspected the vehicle once the fire was extinguished and was able to write the police report and gave me the police case #. -There was one warning light on on the driver dashboard that had appeared a week prior to the vehicle catching fire and it was that the front headlight bulb was not working and had to be replaced.

I had hit snd run By this car. IT looks like that Driver had attention to hurt me Moving in same line, I Made him space behind me than he hit on back, I was tih king tha he/she was trying to escape he moved again in right line but he again started to move in left side where I was driving. I hit part of shoulder and there is a damege on my car from the back side and both left side how he/she hit me and right side how I hit on shoulder. Than he/she was trying to run as crazy trought crowd but my car got only body damages and I was able to run after him/her and wrote down License plate. I am a Remitter agent, I was able to find only lien holder for this car but not yet the assigned owner. Hopfully I can get same help from you. Thanks.

SEAT BELTS NO LONGER WORKING EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE. PASSAGES SIDE WILL NOT LOCK AND POPS OUT. ALL THREE BACK SEAT BELTS ARE STUCK AND WILL NOT RELEASE. I'VE HAD THE CAR ONLY A YEAR PURCHASED FROM DRIVETIME. THEN MY KEY GOT STUCK IN MY IGNITION AND COULD NOT TURN CAR OFF HAD TO RUSH TO DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THE ISSUES HAD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. THEN HAD ISSUES WITH THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, AND TRUBO SUPERCHARGER ISSUES LOSING POWER. ALMOST WAS HIT MY A SEMI TRUCK ON THE FREEWAY FOR LOSING POWER TO MY CAR. THESE ISSUES I FEEL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ME A A CUSTOMER TO HAVE TO PAY FOR ONLY HAVING THE CAR A YEAR. THESE ISSUES ARE LIFE THREATENING. WE HAVE A 2016 VW JETTA TSI 1.4L (EA211 ENGINE) WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. AT APPROXIMATELY 98,000 MILES, FUEL STARTED LEAKING FROM THE FUEL RAIL AREA, SLOWLY AT FIRST, JUST A SCENT OF FUEL. NEXT DAY, AT THE END OF THE DAY'S DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE JUST BEFORE MY EXIT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. IT LIMPED 3 MILES HOME AND DIED AS I PULLED INTO THE DRIVE. WHEN WE MANAGED TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN IT GUSHED FUEL FROM THE FUEL RAIL AREA. THERE IS A PENDING RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT VOLKSWAGON DECLINED TO DO ANYTHING BEYOND A NORMAL PAID-FOR REPAIR WITH POTENTIAL REIMBURSEMENT (NOT GUARANTEED) UNTIL THE RECALL ISSUES LEAVING US WITHOUT A VEHICLE. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ONE YEAR AGO, I NOTICED THAT MY CAR HAS TROUBLE STARTING. IT IS A PUSH-TO-START CAR, AND SOMETIMES IT CUTS OFF AND I HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO HAVE IT RESTART. IT HAPPENS DURING ALL TYPES OF WEATHER, AND I'VE HAD THE BATTER TESTED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS IN GOOD STANDING, AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THIS LAST ONE YEAR OF HAVING THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO DO THAT WAS LITERALLY WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF BUYING THE CAR. FURTHERMORE, THE RANGE FEATURE THAT GIVES YOU AN AUTOMATIC READING OF THE GAS GAUGE IS INACCURATE. IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME SET OF LIGHTS- ABS, TIRE PRESSURE, AIRBAG, TRACTION/ANTI-SKID, AND STEERING WHEEL LIGHT ALL COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. NOW THEY COME ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND NEVER TURN OFF. I DON'T NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE DRIVING, BUT THE LIGHTS ARE WORRISOME. I WAS TRAVELING AT 40 MPH THROUGH A CITY STREET INTERSECTION. MY CAR WAS T-BONED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WITH SUCH FORCE THAT MY CAR WAS SPUN AROUND ALMOST 180 DEGREES. 80% OF THE IMPACT WAS ON THE DRIVER'S REAR DOOR, 20% ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THIS INCLUDED A CAR EQUIPPED WITH SIDE/CURTAIN AIRBAGS. I HAD ISSUES PREVIOUSLY WITH THE WINDOWS PROPERLY WORKING AND HAD ALL COMPONENTS MINUS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REPLACED ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND A PASSENGER DOOR. THERE WERE A FEW OTHER ODDITIES AT TIMES WITH THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM OF THE JETTA. CONSIDERING THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT I SUSPECT AN ELECTRICAL GLITCH WITH THE SENSORS OR SOME OTHER PROBLEM THAT PREVENTED THE AIRBAGS FROM DEPLOYING. THE DAMAGE WAS EXTENSIVE ENOUGH THAT THE CAR WAS TOTALED.

I BELIEVE MY CAR IS THE RESULT OF A RECENT SERIES OF BAD STORMS TO HIT THIS COUNTRY AND MY CAR. I BELIEVE MY CAR IS A FLOOD-CAR THAT HAS BEEN VERY WELL CLEANED INSIDE AND OUT, AND CLEANED SO WELL THAT THE TITLE GOT A GOOD WASH, KNOWN IN THE INDUSTRY AS TITLE-WASHING. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE IT CARRIED A GUARANTEE MAKING IT A CERTIFIED USED CAR. A CAR THAT CARRIES A CERTIFIED USED TITLE OF CONDITION THEN ONE WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS THAN PERFECTION. HOW I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A FLOOD-CAR WAS THERE WAS WHAT LOOKED LIKE RIVER GRAVEL DEEP IN THE CARS DOOR SEAL AND THERE WAS A CLEAR WATER-LINE BEHIND WHERE THE MOVING PART OF THE STEERING-WHEEL ATTACHED TO THE CAR. NOW I'M UNSURE IF Y'ALL ARE ABLE TO HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION, EVEN IF IT'S TO STEER ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO FIND RESOLUTION TO MY FLOOD-CAR ISSUE. THE REAR BRAKES CREATE A SUBSTANTIAL RESIDUE THAT IS NOTICEABLE OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AFTER EACH DRIVE. THE REAR BRAKES SQEAK AND SEEM TO BE WORN FROM THE GRINDING SOUND YET THE DISCS LOOK FINE. THE BRAKES DEFINITELY ARE FAULTY AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 17K ON IT. I HAVE ALSO GIVEN GONE THROUGH A TIRE AND SOON NEED TO REPAIR ANOTHER ONE FROM SIDE WALL DAMAGE AND IT IS AT THE SAME CONTACT POINT THAT THE WHEELS COME TO MEET THE OUTER TIRE. IT IS SLICING INTO THE TIRE BECAUSE OF HOW IT LAYS ON THE TIRE. SO THESE ALL MAY BE RELATED BUT THE REAR TIRES ARE NOT RIGHT. I HAVE A 1.8 SEL 17'ALLOY WHEELS WITH ALL/SEASON TIRES. AT ANY TIME, DAY OR NIGHT, ANY TIME OF THE YEAR, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, THIS CAR WILL FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE DELAY CAN BE AS LONG AS 5 SECONDS AND SINCE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN, I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE. IT CAN FAIL TO ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC COMING AT YOU FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THEIR WAY. I FEEL I TAKE MY LIFE IN MY HANDS EVERY TIME I STEP INTO THIS VEHICLE AND RECOMMEND THAT ON ONE EVER BUY ONE OF THESE DEATH TRAPS!!!!

GAUGE BACKLIGHT INTENSITY CONTROL VIOLATES "49 CFR 571.101 - STANDARD NO. 101; CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS" THIS REPORT IS ECHO FROM NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11025444 THAT ANOTHER JETTA HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. FIRST, BASIC ISSUE IS, AUTOMATIC GAUGE BACKLIGHT INTENSITY CONTROLS TILL ZERO WHILE DRIVING ON DAY TIME, BUT THE ZERO LEVEL UNDER DARKER AMBIENT LIGHTING SURROUND AREA IS PREVENTING DRIVER TO CHECK SPEED THAT VIOLATING THE REGULATION. SECOND, THE FACT THAT MANY OF VW MODELS WITH THIS LIGHTING SENSOR HAS THE SAME CONTROL OF THE GAUGE AND THIS REPORTING ISSUE IS NOT A SINGLE CAR OR A SINGLE MODEL YEAR ISSUE. IN MY CASE, BOTH 2016 AND 2017 HAS THE SAME ISSUE. THIRD, ADDITIONAL FACT I FOUND OUT IN THE NIGHT TIME, AT VERY DARK ENVIRONMENT, I HAVE FOUND THE GRAPHICAL LCD PANEL IN THE CENTER OF THE GAUGES, ENTERTAINMENT CONTROL LCD PANEL AND THE BOTH REV GAUGE AND SPEED GAUGE NEEDLES ARE ALSO CONTROLLED INTENSITY, BUT NEVER DARKER THAN THE BRIGHTNESS WHILE HEADLIGHT ON. WITH ABOVE FACT, I UNDERSTAND VW'S INTENTION AND IDEA IS RIGHT, CONTROLLING THE BACKLIGHT WHILE IN THE DAYTIME, BUT THE GAUGE BACKLIGHT IS WAY BELOW BRIGHTNESS THAN NIGHTTIME AND TILL ZERO BACKLIGHT, WHILE NEEDLES, GRAPHIC PANEL, AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM IS CONTROLLED AS IDEAL RANGE. SO FAR, VW OF AMERICA CUSTOMER CARE SAID THIS IS EXACTLY THE DESIGN, BUT ZERO INTENSITY BACKLIGHT IS VIOLATING THE REGULATION "S5.3.2 BRIGHTNESS OF ILLUMINATION OF CONTROLS AND INDICATORS" UNDER "49 CFR 571.101 - STANDARD NO. 101; CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS." THIS CAR CONTINUES TO SPORADICALLY GO IN REVERSE WHILE I AM IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE WAITING IN LIKE AT A DRIVE THROUGH, FOOT ON BREAK WHILE IN DRIVE WHILE WAITING FOR FOOD, THEN TOLD TO PULL UP ONLY TO NEARLY BACK INTO THE CAR IN LINE BEHIND ME. HAD TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF ENGINE- RESTART TO CORRECT PROBLEM. HAS HAPPENED WHILE FOOT ON BREAK AT RED LIGHT WHILE IN DRIVE, TOOK FOOT OFF BREAK WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN - CAR WENT INTO REVERSE WHILE DRIVE SHAFT "D" STILL LIT UP ALMOST BACKING INTO CAR BEHIND ME. AND AGAIN THIS HAPPENED WHILE BACKING UP IN MY APARTMENT PARKING LOT, PUT CAR INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT, BREAK, WHEN TO PUT CAR INTO DRIVE AND CAR WENT INTO REVERSE. EACH TIME THE CAR HAS WENT INTO REVERSE WHILE IN DRIVE I HAVE HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR COMPLETELY AND RESTART TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND THREATENING TO MY CAR, MY SAFETY, AND OTHER DRIVERS. DEALERSHIP CANNOT RECREATE PROBLEM AND SAYS THEREFORE THERE IS NO PROBLEM, VW CUSTOMER CARE IS NO HELP EITHER AS THEY SIMPLY KEEP TELLING ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP.

I AM A VW FAN AND I AM HAVING SERIOUS ISSUES WITH REGARDS TO MY VW JETTA 2016 1.4. EVER SINCE MY 1ST SERVICE I ADVISED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MY BREAKS ARE MAKING A NOISE AND EVERY TIME THEY SAY IT WAS FINE. THERE IS A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT SIDE WHEN IT IS SWITCHED ON AND STAYS ON AND GETS WORSE AS YOU DRIVE. WHEN I PURCHASE THE CAR THAT SOUND WAS NOT PRESENT. AGAIN I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, IT IS THAT WAY WAS MEAN TO SOUND THAT WAY AND THAT WAS NORMAL. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND SPOKE TO VARIOUS PEOPLE THAT HAVE KNOWLEDGE ON VW AS WELL AS A PREVIOUS SERVICE MANAGER WHO TOLD ME THAT IS AN ISSUE THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO NO FACE IT. I WAS NOT PLEASE TO THEIR RESPOND THE CAR HAS 2,780 MILES ON IT AND 6 MONTHS SINCE I DROVE IT OUT OF THE LOT I ASK THAT SOMEONE DO REALLY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WILL BE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM VW CORPORATION THAT WILL BE COMING AND THAT HE WOULD BE THE ONE TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. THIS SAY IN OCTOBER 2016 TODAY IS APRIL 2 2017. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THAT TO HAPPEN TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED I AM SURE I WILL TOLD NOW IS CLOSE TO YEAR OH YOUR WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THAT I WILL SIT WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FIXING IT MYSELF. I SEE THAT HAPPENING I WANT MY CAR FIXED PROPERLY AS I NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH VW BEFORE BUT I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AND WORRY ABOUT MY SAFETY. 2016 JETTA SE1.4 NEW FOR 18 YEAR OLD SON FOR COLLEGE. WITHIN A WEEK CAR WAS IN THE SHOP WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR LIGHTER AND USB SHORTING OUT PHONE + RADAR WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING. NO ISSUE FOUND WE DROVE 1000+MILES TO SCHOOL, CENTER CONSOLE WOULD BLINK ON AND OFF DURING THE TRIP. NEW DEALER ALSO DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. CAR THEN STARTED SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING UNDER 5 MPH IN TRAFFIC IN NYC. WHEN COMING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THE REAR VIEW CAMERA TURNED OFF, THE CAR TURNED OFF. VW WAS CALLED THEY HAD HIM TURN OFF THE POWER BY HOLDING THE PUSHBUTTON AND BREAK WHICH RESTARTED THE CAR. NEW DEALER STILL NO ISSUE FOUND. THE CAR CONTINUES TO LOOSE POWER ALL EXCEPT AUXILIARY SEVERAL INCIDENTS VERY UNSAFE. WAS GOING UP A HILL AND THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND STARTED ROLLING BACK, APPLIED THE HANDBRAKE THE BACK WHEELS LOCKED AND THE CAR STOPPED THANKFULLY IT WAS AT NIGHT AND NO TRAFFIC. TWO DAYS LATER AT JFK IN THE ARRIVAL LINE THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE CREEPING FORWARD. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER NEW DEALER THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR ONE WEEK, NO ISSUE FOUND. ISSUES CONTINUED NOW INCLUDING SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR REVVING TO 8000RPM, HAVING TO PUSH FAR DOWN FOR THE BRAKE TO ENGAGE. ALL THE LIGHTS TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING INTERMITTENTLY VERY UNSAFE. TOOK IT TO NEW DEALER THEY FOUND NO ISSUE I REFUSED TO PICK IT UP AND CALLED VW CORP THEY HAD THEM DRIVE THE CAR FOR 50 MILES FINALLY AN ERROR MESSAGE. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID. IT IS STILL HAVING ISSUES.THE CAR OVERHEATED AND THE ELECTRICAL STOPPED WORKING. HE SMELLED THE COOLANT THREW THE VENTS HE WAS ABOUT TO PULL OVER WHEN THE CAR REVVED TO 8000 RPM AND DROPPED OUT OF GEAR SO HE PULLED OVER AND SLOWED DOWN THE LIGHTS AND RADIO TURNED OFF. WHEN HE LOOKED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS GLOWING RED. THE CAR TOOK AN HR TO COOL DOWN AND ELECTRICAL TO COME BACK. BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN NO ISSUES AGAIN CALLED VW CORP FOR COMPLAINT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND EMITTED AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND VERIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V705000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
