THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR THIRTY DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAINIER DODGE OF OLYMPIA (2550 CARRIAGE LOOP SW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502; (360) 754-5550) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS OF THE VEHICLE I OWN BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL IS CLOSED. I BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED FOR REPAIR BECAUSE I WASN'T MADE AWARE OF ANY RECALLS WHEN I OBTAINED THE VEHICLE. THE UPPER BALL JOINTS ARE BAD AND A MECHANIC TOLD ME IT COULD BREAK OFF.

I PURCHASED A 2000 DODGE DURANGO IN JUNE 2003. I HAVE HAD CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH FRONT SUSPENSION, BALL JOINTS,RIGHT HUB ASSEMBLY. RIGHT SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 YEARS AND I WAS JUST TOLD YESTERDAY THAT IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. I WAS ALSO INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC OF 18 YEARS, THE WHOLE FRONT SUSPENSION IS BAD AND THE DIFFERENTIAL WILL ALSO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK 11 YEARS AND HAVE KEPT IT WELL MAINTAINED,IN ALL THIS TIME, I HAVE HAD ONLY ONE OFFICIAL RECALL FOR UPPER ARM BALL JOINTS IN 2005. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER TWICE TO QUESTION WHY I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HUB ASSEMBLY SO FREQUENTLY(EVERY YEAR FOR THE LAST 5 OF 6 YEARS) AND THEY INSIST THERE IS NOTHING WRONG OR A SPECIFIC RECALL FOR MY VIN. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH WITH REPLACING THE SAME PART OVER AND OVER EVERY YEAR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS HUB ASSEMBLY & FRONT SUSPENSION. I HAVE NOTICED THE SAME COMPLAINTS ONLINE AS MINE.... FRONT END VIBRATION WHEN REACHING SPEEDS OF 55-60 MPH, BALL JOINT ISSUES, HUB ASSEMBLY ISSUES, AND FRONT SUSPENSION ISSUES. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 2 RECALLS FOR 2000 DODGE DURANGO FRONT SUSPENSION AND HUB ASSEMBLY UNITS, AND CONVENIENTLY FOR CHRYSLER, NEITHER ARE MY VIN NUMBER DURANGO. SURPRISE, SURPRISE!! YOU CAN BE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN AND DASH LITES UP NO BUS. YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. LOOK ON INTERNET DURANGO NO BUS AND HUNDREDS OF POSTS COME UP WITH PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING NB ON SOUTHWEST HIGHWAY IN PALOS THE LIGHT CHANGED TO YELLOW, THEN RED, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN AS NORMAL. SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR AS IF THE HYDRAULICS FLUID HAD BEEN LET OUT OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON AND I COULD HEAR THE ANTI LOCK SYSTEM MAKING NOISE. I PUMPED THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND CAR STOPPED IN JUST ENOUGH TIME TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OPENED THE HOOD TO INSPECT THE FLUID LEVELS, THEY WERE PERFECT, NO LEAKS EITHER. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT, THE BRAKES DO NOT APPEAR TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY HOWEVER, I WILL HAVE A MECHANIC CHECK THEM OUT ON FRIDAY. *TR

NO VISIBLE FLUID LEAKAGE EXISTS, NOR ARE ANY DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD. REPLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DONE, AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED.. THE FAILURE IS PERSISTENT AND OCCURS WITH EVERY USE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONSEQUENCES ARE GREATLY INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE WITH PEDAL TRAVEL TO THE FLOOR EVEN UNDER MODERATE FOOT PRESSURE. The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, she heard an abnormal noise coming from the front driver’s side tire. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact exited the vehicle and stated that the front driver’s side wheel was detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic, and she was informed that the ball joint, tie rod, and wheel spindle needed to be replaced. Additionally, the vehicle would need a front wheel alignment. The vehicle was repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. I BACKED INTO MY DRIVEWAY DRAGGING MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL SIDEWAYS. ONCE I GOT OUT TO CHECK WHAT WAS GOING ON, MY TIE ROD END HAD BECOME COMPLETELY STRIPPED OFF THE RACK AND PINION. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTIONS, SOMEHOW THE GROVES ON THE RACK AND PINION HAD WORE DOWN SO MUCH IT ALLOWED THE TIE ROD TO STRIP AND RELEASE. I WAS SO GLAD I HADN'T BEEN DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN ON THE HIGHWAY, THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO FLIP AND PROBABLY KILL US. I BOUGHT A 2000 DODGE DURANGO BACK IN JULY OF 2014 FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. IN OCTOBER OF 2015 THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, GOING ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR. A CLOUD OF BLACK SMOKE CAME OUT OF MY HEATER VENTS, IT SMELT OF BURNT PLASTIC AND SULFUR. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT HAPPENED ALL MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND STARTED DINGING AT ME, AND THE BATTERY VOLTAGE METER WENT FROM OVER 18 TO UNDER 14. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A LOCAL BUSINESS, AND PARKED THE VEHICLE, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND POPPED THE HOOD. UNDER THE HOOD IT SMELT EVEN STRONGER OF BURNT PLASTIC. THE SUV LURCHED AND AFTER MANAGING TO GET TO THE EMERGENCY LANE THROUGH MODERATE TRAFFIC, WE DISCOVERED THE LEFT REAR STEEL BELTED RADIAL HAD SEPARATED COMPLETELY FROM ITSELF INTO SHREDS AND COMPLETELY FROM THE RIM. IN DOING SO, THE RADIAL HAD EXPLODED OUTWARD AGAINST THE MUD FLAP, TEARING IT OFF AND AGAINST THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR TO INCLUDE THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER DOOR PANELS. THEN 11/03 IT WAS MANDATORY THAT I REPLACE ALL 4 BALL JOINTS. THIS ALSO DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT SINCE THE CAR ONLY HAD APPROXIMATELY 65K MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. YOU WOULD THINK WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR AUTO TO THE DEALER FOR ALL ITS SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND HAVING SPENT $35K ON IT NEW, ONE WOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE SORTS OF EXPENSIVE PROBLEMS.

WE OWN A 2000 DODGE DURANGO. WE EXPERIENCED VIBRATION IN THE FRONT AND STRANGE NOISES. MECHANIC CHECKED FRONT END OF VEHICLE. SAID THAT FRONT RIGHT UPPER BALL JOINT WAS DEFECTIVE TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. HE SHOWED US THE ABNORMAL "PLAY" IN THE FRONT AND SAID THE WHEEL COULD EASILY SEPARATE FROM THE CHASSIS. HE REPLACED THIS BALL JOINT, BUT WARNED THAT THE OTHER THREE (CONSISTING OF LOWER AND UPPER BALL JOINTS ON LEFT SIDE, AND LOWER BALL JOINT ON RIGHT SIDE) ARE ALSO BAD AND WILL NEED REPLACING IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. ROOF RACK IS MADE OF PLASTIC. THERE ARE NO REINFORCEMENT BARS EMBEDDED IN THE PLASTIC. WHEN LUGGAGE OR PLASTIC KAYAKS ARE MOUNTED TO THE TOP, THE ROOF RACK BREAKS - LEADING TO POOR ANCHORAGE OF MATERIALS ON THE TOP ROOF AND DEATH OR INJURY TO THE PASSENGERS IN THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES. THIS EVENT HAPPENED WHERE THE ROOF RACK CAME APART AND DAMAGED THE DURANGO AND POTENTIALLY THE CAR FOLLOWING. WE WALKED THE TRUCK TO THE CLOSEST AUTOZONE AND THE MANAGER HELPED US BY USING METAL TIE BANDS TO SECURE IT.

ON 7/26/03 MY DAUGHTER AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR APROX. 30 MILES AND WHILE MAINTAINING A SPEED OF 60-65MPH THE ENGINE STARTED TO "REV" ITSELF AND WOULD MAKE SUDDEN BACK & FORTH JERK MOTIONS. IT WOULD JUMP FORWARD THEN STALL. THE BRAKE PEDAL COMPLETELY LOCKED AND WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN WHEN I STOOD ON IT. WHILE STILL AT APROX. 60 MPH I WAS ABLE TO SLOW AND EVENTUALLY STOP THE TRUCK BY PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL AND COASTING AS IT EVENTUALLY LOST SPEED AND STOPPED. AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION (NOT THE FIRST) COURTESY OF DODGE. IN ADDITION I HAVE PROBLEMS STOPPING THE TRUCK WITHOUT IT SLIDINGWHEN I AM FORCED TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. THE TRUCK SKIDS OR SLIDES A FEW FEET BEFORE IT COMPLETELY STOPS. THIS CONTINUES EVEN WITH NEW TIRES. THIS SITUATION ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT INVOLVING SMALL CHILDREN CROSSING THE ROAD.

I CONTACTED THE COMPANY TO FIND OUT HOW TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED AS THERE IS NO DEALERSHIP WHERE I LIVE. I LET THEM KNOW I LIVED IN KETCHIKAN, ALASKA. THE WOMAN I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME TO CONTACT THE JUNEAU DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS THE CLOSEST TO ME. I CONTACTED THE JUNEAU DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THAT HE COULD SEND ME THE PARTS FROM JUNEAU AND I COULD HAVE THE LABOR DONE IN KETCHIKAN, SENDING HIM THE BILL FOR THE LABOR, WHICH I WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR AN ALLOTTED AMOUNT OF MONEY. I AGREED, BUT HE NEEDED TO FIND OUT IF HE COULD SEND ME BOTH BALL JOINTS, AS I HAD ONE BALL JOINT REPLACED IN AUGUST OF 2004, WITHOUT BEING REIMBURSED BY DAIMLERCHRYSLER. TODAY, AUGUST 1, 2005, THE GENTLEMAN FROM THE JUNEAU DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE BOTH BALL JOINTS REPLACED, BUT THAT HE COULD NO LONGER SEND ME THE PARTS BECAUSE DAIMLERCHRYSLER HAD CONTACTED HIM AND NOW PROHIBITED HIM FROM DOING RECALLS IN THIS FASHION AS IT WAS DEEMED FRAUDULENT. I DIRECTLY CONTACTED DAIMLERCHRYSLER AND SPOKE WITH THE SUPERVISOR "KATHERINE" WHO STATED THAT I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO SEATTLE OR JUNEAU TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL OR THEY WOULD NOT PAY TO FIX IT. I TOLD HER I LIVED ON AN ISLAND AND COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY THE FERRY FEE TO DO THAT OR GO WITHOUT ANY TRANSPORTATION FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. SHE SAID THEY COULD NOT COMPENSATE ME FOR TRANSPORTATION AS IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY LIVING ON AN ISLAND, BUT THAT I HAD TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 73,000 MILES AND POWER STEERING PUMP SHAFT SLOWLY WORKED LOOSE CAUSING PUNCTURE INTO PLASTIC COOLING TANK/SHROUD. PUNCTURE APPEARS TO BE FROM CONTACT WITH SHAFT AND HAS ABOUT A NICKEL SIZE HOLE IN PLASTIC TANK. CAUSED VEHICLE TO OVER HEAT AND LOSS OF COOLANT. THE TWO OCCURRENCES INVOLVED PREMATURE DETERIORATION OF VARIOUS DEVICES AND COMPONENTS. AT APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MILES (AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED), THE DEVICE THAT CONTROLS THE CHECK ENGINE OPERATIONS HAD TO BE REPLACED. ENGINE HAS HAD A MISS IN IT SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. WE HAVE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES COMPLAINING, WITH THE FIRST ONE WAS BEFORE IT HAD 2000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THE FIRST TIME THAT IT WOULD/DID NOT SHOW UP ON THE COMPUTER UNTIL IT HAD OVER 2000 MILES ON THE CAR. SO DRIVE IT UNTIL THEN, AND IF IT STILL DID IT BRING IT BACK IN. WE BROUGHT IT BACK IN AT 3,803 MILES,7,596 MILES AND THEN AT 18,275. AT 7,596 MILES THEY REPROGRAMMED THE CAR AND TOLD US TO USE UNLEADED PLUS GAS INSTEAD OF REGULAR. IT DID NO GOOD TO CHANGE THE GRADE OF GAS. THEN WE BROUGHT IT BACK IN AT 18,275 MILES WITH 4 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS AND THEY CHANGED THE FAN CLUTCH. THE CAR STILL MISSED AFTER THIS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US AT THIS TIME THAT THEY HAD 3 OTHER CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND CAN NOT FIX IT. HEAD GASKET LEAK CREATED A HEATER CORE ISSUE WHERE COOLANT WOULD "MIST" THROUGH THE VENTS. THIS POSED A HEALTH RISK TO MY CHILDREN AND I WHO HAVE ASTHMA. AND THERE'S NO TELLING THE LONG TERM EFFECTS OF INHALING COOLANT MIST. DUE TO COST, WE HAD TO REROUTE THE HEATER CORE, THUS DISABLING IT AND GOING WITHOUT HEAT AND DEFROST DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. SINCE THEN, THE GASKET ISSUE IS NOW CAUSING EVEN MORE ISSUES OF SMOKING UNDER THE HOOD, SMOKE OUT THE TAIL PIPE, AND COOLANT OVERHEATING. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING HEAD GASKETS ARE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DURANGOS. IT'S ABOUT TIME THEY ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX IT. I'M GREATLY CONCERNED ABOUT MY CHILDREN'S HEALTH AND SAFETY, PLUS THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT FROM THE EMISSIONS CHANGE DUE TO THE GASKET.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE SPEED LIMIT 75 AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, NO CODES, NO WARNING LIGHTS NOTHING. THANK GOODNESS IT WAS IN THE EVENING AND LIGHT TRAFFIC, GOT FINALLY STOPPED AND HAD TO WAIT 2HRS BEFORE RESTARTING, WENT ABOUT ANOTHER 5 MILES AND DID IT AGAIN. THERE WAS NO WARNING, OIL PRESSURE LIGHT JUST CAME ON AND WE LOST PRESSURE. THEN THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. WE HAD IT TOWED TO HERB GORDON DODGE, WHICH SAID THE ENGINE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I HAD TO DRIVE IT HOMEAND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED FITZGERALD TO SEE IF I WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID BRING IT IN, SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE WARRRANTY WOULDN'T COVER IT BECAUSE I COULD NOT PRODUCE 15 MAINTENANCE RECEIPTS. I HAD A FULL SERVICE ENGINE FLUSH AT 32,727 MILES. THEY DID NOT CARE, BUT SAID THEY COULD GIVE ME A NEW ENGINE AT $6000 OR A PATCHUP AT $4200. SHE HEARD TWO SNAPPING NOISES UNDER THE HOOD. SHE APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED FLAMES IN THE ENGINE. THEY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE ENGINE FIRE SPREAD TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE TO THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT WOULD STALL AND OVERHEAT. THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE THE DAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER OF 2008. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 124,000.

I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35 MILE PER HOUR ON A SUNNY DAY, DRY PAVEMENT, TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 78 DEGREES. A CAR ABOUT 30 FEET IN FRONT OF ME HAD STOP TO TURN. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THEY SEEM TO GRAB AND LOCK AND MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. AT THAT POINT I WAS APPROXIMATELY 20 OR SO FEET FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME I HIT THE BRAKES AGAIN, FELT THE CAR SURGE FORWARD AND THEN THE BRAKES TOTALLY TOTALLY LOCKED UP AND I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. DURING THIS TIME THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD CLUCKING NOISE AND WAS SQUEALING EXTREMELY LOUD. THE POLICE RECORD SHOWS 20 FEET OF SKID MARKS. THIS WAS SCARIEST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE KNOWING THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND MY BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP, EVENTHOUGH I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP. THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS IN PARK ALTHOUGH WE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME TURNING THE CAR OFF SINCE GEARS WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. I was just driving then out of nowhere. No warning No lights inmitted on dash no idea the engine will shut off. Replace alternator, Battery,Starter,3 PCM,still no luck. Noticed that PCM could have been the so that's why I went through 3 of em. New ,Use ,and Refurbish one. The dealership mechanic noticed that PCM would shut off and henced (no bus) would illuminate. Happened quite often scary part is that no warning of any source would appear on freeway residential anywhere. Engine will shut off while driving.

One morning I was taking my 9-year-old daughter to school and our truck just stalled while I was driving. Thank Allah that there was no heavy traffic and no one got hurt. That incident has my daughter scared. I took it to the mechanic they read the diagnostic fixed what codes came up and still my truck is not operating properly. The truck still stalls while driving the mechanic has informed me. I have had my IAC, MAP sensor, TPS, ignition coil, distributor, and canister purge valve replaced.

CAR GIVEN TO ME BY A FAMILY MEMBER IN NOV 2019 WITH 135K MILES, WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER, VEHICLE WAS VERY WELL MAINTAINED. APPROXIMATELY FEB 2020, DRIVING 70 MPH DOWN INTERSTATE, CAR ACTED LIKE IT DIED-LOST ALL POWER FOR ABOUT 10 SECS, THEN IT CAME BACK TO LIFE. IT WAS ABOUT A MONTH LATER, IT DID IT AGAIN. MECHANIC REPLACED THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR(?). SOON AFTER, VEHICLE STARTED TO JUST DIE WHILE DRIVING. NO NOISE, RATTLES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, JUST WOULD SHUT OFF LIKE THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF. DIDN'T MATTER THE TERRAIN OR SPEED, JUST WHILE DRIVING. INITIALLY IT WOULD IMMEDIATELY RESTART. IT SEEMS TO HAVE GOTTEN WORSE SINCE THE HOTTER WEATHER. AND IT SHUTS DOWN AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 MINS WHEN THE ENGINE HAS REALLY WARMED UP. I FINALLY NOTICED A NO BUS MESSAGE ON THE ODOMETER-WHICH FROM RESEARCHING MEANS THE COMPUTER ISN'T COMMUNICATING. MECHANIC UNABLE TO PULL A CODE, SAID IT'S CLEARING ITSELF OUT RIGHT AFTER IT THROWS IT. TODAY WENT IN, AND WE GOT LUCKY AND HOOKED MACHINE WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IT DIED. AND THE SCANNER WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE NOR COMMUNICATE WITH THE PCM. NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLES FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. AND IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE A SINGLE FIX FOR IT. SOME A NEW PCM WORKED, SOME OTHER SENSORS, ONE SAID JUST LOOSENING THE SCREWS ON THE PCM WORKED FOR HIM, SOME NOTHING WORKED. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS, CAR JUST SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ISSUE AFTER 20 YEARS. I PURCHASED A 2000 DODGE DURANGO USED AT 147K MILES IN NOVEMBER 2014. BY MARCH 2015, IT TURNED OFF RANDOMLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING, MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS. THE SPEED DIDN'T MATTER. THE CRUISE CONTROL AND HORN QUIT WORKING. I WAS CHECKING THE INTERNET TO SEE WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT. I FOUND THE RECALL FOR REPLACING THE CLOCKSPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THIS COULD CAUSE MY PROBLEMS PLUS CAUSE MY AIR BAG TO NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY # (*)WAS NOT INCLUDED AND TO CALL CHRYSLER, WHICH I DID. I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO BE FIXED AND THEN IF IT WERE ADDED TO THE RECALL I WOULD BE REIMBURSED. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR IT. I BOUGHT MY TRUCK USED AND HAD THEM DO A COMPLETE WORK UP ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT. EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR 1 WEEK. AFTER THAT WEEK MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAD THEM REPLACE THE "CANISTER" BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID WAS THE PROBLEM. 1 WEEK LATER IT RETURNED. I HAVE HAD IT CLEARED OUT ABOUT 100 TIMES. IT NOW KEEPS TELLING ME I HAVE A GAS LEAK. MY MECHANIC HAS LOOKED AT THIS TRUCK MORE THAN THE AVERAGE TIME. MY STEERING ALL OF A SUDDEN WAS LOOSE AND SCARY TO DRIVE. I CHECKED MY POWERS STEERING FLUID TO FIND THAT I WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT. SO I FILLED IT. ONE DAY LATER IT WAS DOWN AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND FOUND OUT MY RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED, AT 75000 MILES. I HAVE HAD PLENTY OF VEHICLES OVER 150000 MILES AND NEVER REPLACED A RACK AND PINION. SEPTEMBER 13, 2001 MY HUSBAND CURTIS JOYNER WAS KILLED IN A CRASH IN HERNANDO, MS DUE TO POOR WHEEL BASE STRUCTURE AND POOR WHEEL BALANCE STRUCTURE OF DURANGO'S OF HANDLING CURVES, WAS STATED BY ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTING CREW THAT'S WHAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLLOVER IN CURVES. VEHICLE KEPT FLOODING OUT AND WOULD NOT START OVER A MONTH PERIOD IN OCTOBER OF 2005. TAKEN TO A GARAGE TO BE FIXED. THE COMPUTER SHOWED NO PROBLEM. AFTER GETTING IT STARTED VEHICLE WOULD BE TAKEN HOME AND SAME PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF. AFTER 3 TRIP TO GARAGE FOR SAME PROBLEM THE VEHICLES PCM(ENGINE CONTROL COMPUTER) HAS BEEN REPLACED. DEALER ADVISED THAT VEHICLE WAS 7000 MILES OVER THE 80000 MILE WARRANTY ON THAT PARTICULAR PART. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEM LIKE THE SUSPENSION MAKING NOISE, ANTITHEFT SYSTEM CANNOT BE SHUT OFF ONCE ACTIVATED. I HAVE TAKEN MY 2000 DODGE DURANGO TO FOREST LAKE DODGE DEALER FOR A CLUNKING NOISE IN MY FRONT END OVER YEAR AGO. I HAD A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. THEY SAID AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THEY COULDN'T HEAR ANYTHING. AGAIN WITHIN A COUPLE MONTHS I RETURNED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ALONG WITH MY PASSENGER WINDOW NOT GOING UP OR DOWN CORRECTLY. ONCE AGAIN THEY SAID OH YOU NEED SHOCKS AND YOU NEED YOUR SERVICE OF WARRENTY PROFORMED OR YOUR WARRENTLY WONT BE ANY GOOD, SO I SAID YES DO WHAT IS UNDER WARRENTY NOTHING ELSE UNLESS I SAY IT OK, WILL MORE WORK WAS PROFORMED AND I ENDED UP PAYING HUNDRED PLUS DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET. AGAIN THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CLUCKING NOISE NOTED AND THAT THE PASSENGER WINDOW ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER SAID IT FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY. I HAD SIDE STEPS PUT ON AFTER PURCHASE BY CHRY. OUR 2000 DODGE DURANGO WITH JUST OVER 36,000 MILES BLEW ON A TRIP OUT OF TOWN LEAVING US STRANDED. THE FACTORY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PEOPLE CAME DOWN AND ARE TRYING TO BLAME IT ON US, SAYING WE DIDN'T CHANGE THE OIL ENOUGH, (THAT'S RIDICULOUS) WE DID CHANGE THE OIL, BUT EVEN IF WE HADN'T IT SHOULDN'T MAKE THE ENGINE BLOW, IT MIGHT MAKE IT RUN LIKE CRAP, IT WASN'T REALLY DOING THAT EITHER. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, IT TURNS OUT IT IS A PART IN THE OIL PUMP THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED IN 98,99, AND 2000 MODELS BEFORE THEY EXTENDED THE FACTORY WARRANTY IN LATER MODELS. DO THEY REALLY EXPECT PEOPLE WITH THESE PROBLEMS TO BUY A NEW MOTOR FOR 6,000, AND THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF IT!!!! OUR DURANGO IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. 1.) SEPARATION UPPER BALL JOINT - NOTICED A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE...SOUNDED LIKE RUBBING. GOODYEAR ROTATED THE TIRES WHICH DIDN'T HELP. THE BRAKE LINE TO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL CYLINDER IS DIRECTLY UNDER THE BATTERY. THIS LINE DOES NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF PROTECTIVE SHIELDING TO PREVENT BATTERY ACID RESIDUE FROM DEPOSITING ON THE LINE. I HAVE HAD THIS LINE, AND THE BATTERY, REPLACED ONCE BY THE DEALER AT 26468 MILES. NOW THE DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINE AGAIN AT 36500 MILES. WE BOUGHT A USED 2000 DURANGO SPORT APPROXIMATELY 5/2002 FROM THE JEEP DEALER IN ONTARIO, CALIFORNIA. THEY SAID IT WOULD HAUL OUR 19 FEET TRAVEL TRAILER. WE HAD SLOOPY STEERING ISSUES. WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY THE STEERING WOULD WOBBLE AS IF TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. WHEN TRAVELING ON ALL OVER PASSES WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED, IT WILL LOSE TRACTION FOR A SHORT PERIOD CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN BY ITSELF WHICH RESULTS IN ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. WHEN YOU ARE TURNING FREEWAY "CORNERS" AT HIGHER SPEEDS IT FEELS TOP HEAVY AS IF YOU COULD ROLL OVER DUE TO INSTABILITY OF SUSPENSION & STEERING. IT MAKES CLICKING NOISES FROM THE REAR END. WE HAVE BOUGHT 2 COMPLETE SETS OF TIRES NEW TIRES AND 3 FRONT END ALIGNMENTS SINCE WE HAVE HAD THIS DURANGO. SEARS SAID THE ALIGNMENT WAS COMPLETED AS BEST AS POSSIBLE, IT WAS ALMOST OUT OF SCOPE AS IT WAS, THE CASTER AND CAMBER BEARLY MEETS THE SPECIFICATIONS. WHILE TOWING OUR WE FLIPPED AND ROLLED OUR 19FT TRAVEL TRAILER OVER, JUST ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM OUR HOME. MY HUSBAND AND 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE NOT PHYSICALLY INJURED IN THE ROLL OVER CRASH, BUT HAVE BEEN TRAMATIZED TO THIS DAY. THE TRAILER JACKNIFED AND DISCONNECTED ITSELF OFF THE BALL AND ANTI-SWAY ARMS; RESULTING IN NO DAMAGE TO THE DRANGO. THEY COULD NOT "DUPLICATE" THE CHIRPING (AFTER 2-3 VISITS) ALTHOUGH IT HAPPENS FOR ME EVERY DAY. NOW WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AFTER READING MANY OF THE COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS HERE, I'M JUST WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. WILL MY CHILDREN BE INJURED AS A RESULT? MY 2YR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SEATBELTED IN MIDDLE SEAT IN A CAR SEAT. WHEN I HAD THE WRECK, THE SEATBELT THAT WAS HOLDING THE CARSEAT CAME UNBUCKLED. MY MOTHER WAS SITTING BACK THERE, AND SHE CAUGHT MY DAUGHTER. THE THIRD SEAT IN THE DURANGO HAD BENT ALL THE WAY UP TO THE MIDDLE SEAT. I AM ALSO HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING MY INSURANCE TO REPLACE ANY SEATBELTS OR THE CARSEAT. WHAT CAN I DO?*AK
