2022 Dodge Duranago I bought last March of 2025, certified preowned with 26,700 miles. As of today March 21 2026 there was water build up in the rear racetrack light. Upon starting the car the lights began flickering and the entire racetrack bar die with no light illumination at all. I could clearly see water build up in the bottom right hand corner of the light as well as water condensation on the lower left corner of the light. Many other Durango owners reported having the same issue with the dealerships not covering this.

The contact owns a 2022 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that after her husband restarted the vehicle, the driver's side headlight failed to illuminate. The contact related the failure to the headlamp assembly; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Multiple reports on every forum on the Day Time Running Lights both Driver and Passenger side going out on 2020 to current Dodge Durangos with less than 20,000 on most at time of complaint. It cannot be repaired, only replaced with new headlight assembly at $1200 each. I have owned three (3) Dodge Durangos. #1 2020 Dodge Durango GT Driver side DRL went out at 5500miles. It was totaled in a MVC before it could be repaired under warranty. #2 2021 Dodge Durango GT. Driver side DRL went out at 7600 miles. Dodge made an offer on it during the Covid shortage and we took the offer. #3. Current vehicle is a 2022 Dodge Durango GT Plus. Driver side DRL went out at 62,000 miles. Dodge warranty will not cover the replacement.

The Driver's side daytime running light white LED strip is inoperable. After internet research this complaint is very common and similar to the tail "racetrack" light recall. Because daytime running increases visibility of vehicles on the road, this is safety related. I have since observed several late year model Durangos with this exact fault. Stelantis/Dodge/Chrysler will not warranty the fault and the corrective action is to remove and replace the entire headlamp assembly at an estimated cost of $2k parts and labor.

The contact owned a 2022 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while approaching the vehicle after it was remotely started, the contact discovered that both headlights had failed to function as needed. A dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Radio screens keep going bad causing the backup camera to not work until after a power cycle of the screen takes place. Sometimes a power cycle is not possible and the screen take a minute or two to turn on. I have had multiple radios in our car do this. I was told at the dealership that Stellantis admits they have a design flaw which causes the radio to overheat and melt the components in the radio unit. This is a series safety concern, not only because of the backup camera not displaying but a possible fire hazard if components are over heating.

My driver side front LED turn signal has failed after 42,890 miles. My safety and others safety is affected as my drivers side front LED turn signal is no longer functioning which makes it hard for others to know I’m turning left. The turn signal has stopped functioning on Monday, Aug 25th 2025 resulting in it not functioning since. Warning light shows on dashboard in “stored messages” on instrument cluster (pics and video of both can be provided). The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealership or anyone else yet. The vehicle is scheduled to go into the shop late September for brakes (will have them look at code for led turn signal being out). Reading over my extended warranty from the manufacturer and asking a representative; they informed me that the replacement of a headlight assembly was not covered under warranty, but gave no proper explanation why. Only that it’s not listed under covered parts; yet covered parts does state a “concealed headlamp module.”

While enroute to a priority call our officer experienced a catastrophic engine failure. Said vehicle was in the day before for brakes, and our mechanic always does PM to include a check of coolant fluid level, oil and windshield washer fluid, and car was fine. Vehicle overheated, and shut down shortly after, taking officer out of service and leaving call without an police unit to respond. For personal vehicles this creates a risk of car failure, but for emergency responders it is a much higher safety risk based on the nature of our calls we are responding to. At one point last year i had 4 cars all down at once for same issue. I spoke with Dodge dealer who said this is a very common issue. I tried to file a complaint with Stellantis which was not helpful.

On Saturday, 04/23/2022, the Dodge Durango ran fine. I was able to back out of my driveway without incident around 12:00 PM and go to Walmart. I drove to the Sheetz gas station from Walmart and topped off the fuel tank because we wanted to take a family trip during the weekend. At 12:40 PM, I arrived back home, turned off the engine, and went inside my house to pick up my son. We entered the vehicle around 12:50 PM. I put my seatbelt on, put my foot on the brake pedal, and pushed the engine start button. Then I placed the vehicle in reverse, released the parking brake, and slowly backed my foot off the brake pedal. This time around, the vehicle did not drive backward normally like it's supposed to, but hesitated like it didn't have any power (NHTSA complaint 11461953). The engine hesitated several times, the RPMs dipped under 500 more than once, and then when I almost got to the street, the engine died, and the vehicle stalled. The transmission placed itself into the park position (AUTOMATIC PARK), and I could hear and feel the driveline clunk when the parking pawl locked the transmission. The "R" led started flashing on the gear shifter. I put my foot on the brake, and moved the lever from the "R" to the "N" position. The "N" position was still flashing, indicating that the vehicle is not really in "N". Then I pushed the engine start button to completely turn off the vehicle as the "RUN" led was flashing, but instead, the engine turned back on. Without taking the foot off the brake pedal I moved the shift lever from "N" to "R" and heard a loud clunk and even felt it. It sounded and felt like there was a lot of pressure on the parkin pawl and it got barely released. I am concerned that the vehicle stalling might have damaged the parking pawl somehow. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle. This is very difficult to reproduce as the vehicle exhibits this behaviour randomly, however I am concerned for my safety and my family's safety while traveling in this vehicle.

On Friday, 04/22/2022, at 5:30 PM, I remote-started the vehicle, and let it run for 5 minutes, then my wife and I entered the vehicle. I put my foot on the brake pedal, pushed the engine start button to unlock all vehicle functions, and put my seatbelt on. I placed the vehicle in reverse. Then I released the parking brake and backed off the brake pedal. My driveway is slightly sloped downwards towards the garage doors, around three degrees and around five degrees or less where it connects to the street. This vehicle has enough power to back out of my driveway without pushing the gas pedal while in reverse. However, the Dodge Durango in this report barely moved, then stopped, so I gave it a bit more gas. The engine kept hesitating with the RPM needle going under the 500 RPM mark several times. I managed to back it to the end of the driveway. However, the vehicle was struggling. I then put in drive and moved forward. It moved forward without any issue. I pulled up to the garage door and entirely stopped. With the foot on the brake pedal, I placed the vehicle back in reverse, and it struggled again like it didn't have any power. The RPMs dipped under 500 several times until I managed to back the vehicle out into the street. I then put it in drive, and the vehicle ran fine and didn't repeat this behavior until the next day.

Car having trouble starting, turns over with a long crank then doesn’t start. Cranks on the second time
Apr 14, 2025
Vehicle has a long crank time. Vehicle will not start after approximately 10 seconds. The vehicle will start on the second try. There is a strong smell of fuel after that. I have taken the vehicle in multiple times with the dealership saying nothing is wrong or they can’t duplicate the problem. I have showed the dealership videos of it happening and feel that they are not taking it seriously. The problem is getting worse and I fear that one day either I will be stranded or the vehicle will shut off while I’m am driving it.

Vehicle will not shift into drive. This issue is similar to the ZB3 problem. Improperly heat treated shifter parts failed and will not allow the transmission to shift into drive.

The transmission dropped after being stopped at a stop light and lightly accelerating. When this happened the vehicle dropped to neutral. After pulling over it did go into first gear but that’s it. When in reverse it moves a foot then goes back in to neutral.

Fuel System- Had the Durango 1 month spent 50k. At least 50% of the vehicle attempted starts fail. The second attempt the vehicle starts every time. Started researching this, this is very common on the newer Durango's as well as the older ones. I have a huge fear of being stranded and the cost associated with that. I had it looked at the dealer I bought it from and they could not replicate the problem, however when I got into leave it did it the first try. Here's a forum link with supportive material that should support this NEEDS to be a recall. There's tons of online discussions on people experiencing this. While driving on the highway, the engine overheating light came on, the car seemed to be losing power, and I pulled over and was then towed to the dealership. My safety was put at risk as I could have been hit as the car was slowing down in fast traffic; it also was extremely cold (about 5 degrees F) while I waited for the tow truck. The tow truck driver noted that I had lost coolant fluid due to a large puddle beneath the car. The dealership reported that the aluminum coolant line had rubbed against the transmission cooler and had broken through, causing a loss of fluid. The dealership replaced the coolant line and also stated that they cut an extra piece of aluminum and wrapped it around the coolant line to reinforce that line and stop it from rubbing through by rubbing against the transmission cooler. I stated that this seemed like a design defect but the dealership responded that these things just happen. I note that there appears to be a similar recall in 2022 Durango Hellcats for the coolant line being subjected to abrasion from rubbing on the serpentine belt. The dealership did not return the parts to me; I do not know whether they provided them to the manufacturer for inspection.

From manufacturing dodge put a clamp on a rubber hose that goes to the transmission heater. That clamped rubbed a hole into the metal antifreeze line above it. My car started over heating on a busy road. Luckily I was able to pull off without being hit. Dodge doesn’t wanna do anything about it but it’s a known issue for the Durango’s. But dodge won’t recall the issue. Instead their wanting to charge people anywhere from 2k up to 6k depending what state you live it. The issue is known to occur around 50k miles to around 65k miles

I was driving slowly in heavy rain and pulled up to a red light behind another vehicle. Just as I was almost fully stopped, my car suddenly accelerated on its own and struck the vehicle in front of me. The car is equipped with an automatic braking system that should apply the brakes when there is an obstacle. Instead, not only did it fail to brake, it accelerated fully. If the car in front of us had not stopped us, we would have entered a very busy intersection, where we could have been seriously injured and might have hurt others. We were about to enter the freeway, and if this had happened there, the outcome could have been catastrophic. There were no warning lights or alerts of any kind. It happened completely out of the blue. We had the car towed to the dealer in Santa Barbara, where no problem was found. We then took it to the dealer in Thousand Oaks, where we purchased it, and again no problem was found. The vehicle’s black box was checked, but because the car was traveling under 5 mph at the time, nothing was recorded. We contacted Chrysler and reported the issue. So far, no action has been taken, and for the past week they have not even returned our calls. The incident occurred on [XXX]. We cannot drive this car. We also cannot sell it, because we cannot knowingly expose someone else to such a life-threatening risk. Since the problem has not been identified and fixed, it could happen again. Vehicle Sudden Unintended Acceleration – Safety Complaint Vehicle: 2022 Dodge Durango Weather: Rain Situation: The vehicle was at an almost complete stop at a red light and in a 5 feet distance from the car in front. Without pressing the accelerator, the car suddenly surged forward at significant force and hit the vehicle in front of us. There was no driver input on the accelerator. The incident appeared to be caused by an electronic or computer malfunction, possibly related to moisture from the rain. This could have resulted in serious injury or death if another vehicle had not been in front of us to stop the acceleration. Please investigate this issue, as it represents a major safety risk.

Vehicle engine shut off while driving approximately 50mph. No prior issues or warning lamps. The failure happened without any warning. I had over half a tank of fuel at the time of the stall. Loss of engine propulsion is extremely dangerous as I was in rush hour traffic on a major highway in Houston, TX. Luckily the stall occurred at an exit and I was able to safely get to a area to pull over. Dash read out said I needed to be in park to start the engine. Engine started without issue and I finished my drive home.

My Durango has been in and out the shop since May. It was the fuel pump and everything connected to it which is a pain in the rear. Also the design of the taillight should be assessed as well. I am writing to formally request assistance regarding a persistent and unresolved issue with my vehicle’s Uconnect system, which has now escalated into a serious safety concern. I purchased my vehicle in April 2022. Within two weeks, I began receiving an error message stating: “Uconnect Box requires service. Please visit an authorized dealer.” Since then, I have brought the vehicle to Cutter Dodge Honolulu on multiple occasions, beginning on June 1, 2022, to address this issue. Each time, I was informed that the error was due to a pending software update and that no immediate fix was available. Despite repeated service visits, including 6/30/22, 8/18/22, 11/22/22, 6/13/23, 9/1/23, 10/25/23, 12/14/23, 2/1/24, 10/3/24, and most recently on 5/22/25, the issue has never been resolved. I consistently reported the Uconnect error, and each time, I was reassured that an update would eventually be released. I trusted the expertise of the dealership and continued to follow their guidance, despite the inconvenience and growing frustration. On [XXX], during a routine oil change and inspection, the situation worsened significantly. My entire radio system and associated safety features, including lane change alerts and front braking warnings, ceased functioning. I was referred to another location, where a technician (Mark from Store #45473) informed me that the entire radio system needed replacement. However, I was told that my warranty had expired, by only 77 miles, and that I would need to contact Customer Care to seek authorization for repairs. Since then, I have attempted to reach Customer Care at 800-334-9200 multiple times, but I have been repeatedly transferred and disconnected without resolution. I am deeply concerned that despite reporting this issue consistently since 2022, no action was taken until my warranty expired. I now face a situation where my vehicle is not only unreliable but potentially unsafe. We have been to the dealership multiple times about the electrical issues that we are having with the vehicle. The dealership has not been able to correct the issue so we are pursuing the lemon law. We received an offer from Dodge to buy this vehicle back but they are not being reasonable with the amount they are willing to give. We would not be going through this if it wasn’t for the electrical issues that we are having therefore we do not feel like we should be penalized for something that we cannot control. We are scared that the vehicle will catch fire due to all of the electrical issues that we have with this vehicle.

1 complaint
My engine failed with no notice while driving on the interstate leaving me coasting under no power leading to a very unsafe situation being that was no prior warning. The engine failure was under normal highway driving speeds. The dealership said that it was a catastrophic engine failure which brings up possibly a risk of fire the vehicle only has 24K miles on the odometer so very immature failure. Note** After talking to several other Durango SRT owners several have had the same engine failure concern. I don't have total stats on this but to me there has to be a design flaw that could lead a motorist to be put in an unsafe situation. I will upload supporting documentation later.

The braking system has failed twice on my Dodge Durango in a 9 month time period. I have had to press the pedal all the way to the floor in order to get the vehicle to stop. Tire Pressure Sensors are not working properly. Every time I use the vehicle, I'm not sure if I need to pull over and check the tire pressure. The numbers are off considerably. It will not stay to adjusted tire pressure. It will randomly put out numbers for each tire The Dealer tried 3 times to fix the issue and followed a number of requested items to check from the Manufacture without success. They opened a STAR case. The case manager said it was weather related. This can't be, they are not just 1-2 pounds off, there generating random numbers. The dealer does NOT agree with the assessment. They also raised the issue to the regional engineering department. This was unsuccessful. This has been occurring a few months after I bought the car. NOTE: The pictures enclosed were all morning readings and the vehicle is garaged

After about 3mins of driving my vehicle I started to smell burning plastic, a couple seconds later I saw a view black squiggly lines which was smoke which made me look around. At that point I saw the USB port engulfed in flames. As I was driving I panicked and pulled over on the side of the road and looked for something to put the fire out. I thankfully had a bottle of water in my vehicle which I was able to pour over the fire to put it out. I didn’t know what to do after that as there was no available Chrysler dealership in the area I was in so I went to Firestone and asked if someone could help me because I was scared to drive it not knowing if it would ignite again and my route home requires me to get on the freeway and didn’t want to risk something happening on the freeway. The guy from Firestone removed the charger from the port for me and told me I needed to take it to the dealership. I called Chrysler corporate to make them aware and made a service appointment. Without the bottle of water in the car I don’t necessarily know that the situation would have ended this way since the damage is isolated to the port and my charger only from what I can see. I wanted to make this report so that this can be brought to the attention of Chrysler and the necessary recalls and be published to prevent this from happening to anyone else .

This is a dangerous random problem. In fact has now occurred 6 times. Two separate times 08/23/22 & 10/18/22 at a parking lot, while backing up, the gear shifter lit up, locked, and could not be engaged, and it wouldn't move. Both these 2 times it could not be put in drive and after shutting off the engine, it would not restart. The vehicle was blocking access and other vehicles passage for over an hour each time. The other 3 times the vehicle was moving and it just jumped into neutral with no warning, the cluster flashed messages saying to place gear shifter in park and then back to drive and proceed to acquire service. When this happens, it requires you come to a complete stop which can be really put you in harms way. The cluster lights flashed with warning messages in all of the situations. It happened to me twice 10/24/22 after leaving the dealer on the way home, the service engine light illuminated and remained on. The dealer's service rep said multiple codes were detected by the reader. When we brought it in to the dealer the first time 10/20/22, a total of 27 malfunction codes were in the system. How can that be and not be something serious? The powertrain control module was replaced, but when it happened again 2 more times on Monday, less than 15 min. apart, that didn't fix it. Same thing occurred yesterday that occurred five other times but put us in a dangerous situation. This time we were on a busy four-lane road SR 200 A1A in a 45 mile an hour zone and the vehicle just stopped in the middle of the road lane, locked up we could not move it and it could not be pushed off the road. We were a sitting duck for oncoming traffic and several cars almost failed to stop when approaching us. We have had it less than 3 months and it only has 1700 miles. We are unsafe driving it as this happens randomly and we don't know when or where. If this happens on the interstate or a large bridge we could be killed.
