TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL STARTING TO SPILL FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL CHECK VALVE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP OF PARAMUS (315 ROUTE 4 WEST, PARAMUS, NJ 07652) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VIN. THE CONTACT REFERENCED TSB NUMBER: 10128990 AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.

FROM THE TIME MY VEHICLE WAS NEW I HAD ISSUES WITH THE GAS NOZZLE CLICKING OFF BUT THE GAS COMING BACK OUT OF THE TANK. IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS A VERY LITTLE BIT AND I COULD STAND THERE AND MONITOR IT AND PUMP IN SLOWLY AND IT WOULDN?T DO IT. IT HAS STEADILY PROGRESSED TO WHERE EVERY TIME I TRY AND FILL MY TANK THE GAS PUMP WOULD CLICK OFF BUT THE GAS GUSHES OUT ONTO ME AND THE CAR AND THE PAVEMENT ? ANYWHERE FROM 2 TO 5 CUPS OF GAS. THE TANK ISN'T EVEN FULL WHEN IT DOES THIS. I HAVE HAD IT DO IT WHEN I HAVE ONLY PUMPED 1 GALLON INTO THE TANK AND CONTINUE TO CLICK OFF EVERY COUPLE OF CENTS. IT TAKES AT LEAST 10 MINUTES TO PUT GAS IN MY TANK AND THEN IT ISN'T FULL. IT DOES THIS NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION I GO TO. I HAVE HAD THE TPS REPLACED 3 TIMES, THE FUEL PUMP TWICE......I CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL THAT ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE INTER-RELATED. MY MINOR CONCERN IS THAT THIS WILL CAUSE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY FOR ME AS I HAVE ACUTE ASTHMA/BREATHING ISSUES. THIS HAS CAUSED ASTHMA ATTACKS THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL BUT MY FEAR IS ONE DAY I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL IT. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THE GUSHING OUT OF FUEL WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A FIRE AT THE GAS STATION. I BOUGHT MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO USED WITH 119,000 MILES IN NOVEMBER 2013. EVERY TIME I FILL UP, THE GAS OVERFLOWS. I ALWAYS FILL-UP WHEN STOPPING FOR GAS BECAUSE I DRIVE AN HOUR, ONE WAY, INTO TOWN AND HAVE TO GET GAS OFTEN. REGARDLESS OF HOW I PUMP GAS IT ALWAYS OVERFLOWS. I HAVE TRIED PUMPING FAST, PUMPING SLOW, AND PUTTING THE NOZZLE ALL THE WAY IN. I HAVE A TWO YEAR DAUGHTER AND I AM CONCERNED THIS OVERFLOW MAY IGNITE A FIRE. *TR

Fuel spills out when you fill it up. I read there were safety recalls due to this issue for 2006 Dodge Durango's but a recall isn't appearing for my vehicle. When filling it fills fine until almost a full tank. Once it reaches full tank the gas pump clicks off then a gush of fuel spills out of my car. I bought it last year and it does it every time we put a full tank in it if you don't catch it and manually shut pump off before full. Bought the car used

Every time filling full of gas, once full it SPRAYS gas into the air for 2 to 3 seconds. It's evident this is a manufacturing defect as multiple self reported incidents can be found online throught the years. This is vreating a significant fire risk as other vehicles can be pulling up near by. Date provided isn't accurate as this is constant if we let it fill

Fuel erupts from fuel filler neck EVERY TIME the fuel tank is filled, even when filling very slowly. A half-gallon or more of fuel ends up violently spitting out of the filler neck onto people in the vicinity, onto the side of the car, and onto the ground—every time the vehicle is refueled. Many owners apparently have the exact same issue, judging by the large number of complaints on Durango and Dodge forums. Apparently, there was a recall covering model-year 2005 Durangos for this issue, but the issue is present on our 2006 Durango. This is a clear safety defect that could easily create an extremely dangerous situation.

THE GAS TANK OVERFILLS WHEN FILLING THE TANK. WHEN I FILL THE TANK AT THE GAS STATION THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL AFTER THE TANK OVERFLOWS ONTO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND.

WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF THEN FUEL SPEWS OUT. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT IS FUELED. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THIS IS A FIRE HAZZARD AS WELL AS A POLLUTION PROBLEM. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THE 2005 MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 195000 MILES. I ALSO SEE WHERE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE ON YOUR WEBSITE.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle abruptly merged into his lane in front of him, prompting him to rapidly decrease speeds. However, the vehicle ahead was too close; as a result, the contact collided with the rear of the other vehicle, forcing his vehicle to careen to the shoulder of the roadway before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. The air bag warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. MY VEHICLE STARTED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. IT'S SWITCHING MY TIRES FROM ALL WHEEL DRIVE TO EITHER 4LOW OR 4LOCK WHILE I'M DRIVING AND I CAN'T HARDLY GET MY VEHICLE TO TURN WHILE DRIVING WHEN IT DOES THIS. I HAD MY ENGINE ON AND IN PARK AND HEARD THE NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH. IT'S THE SAME EXACT NOISE THAT'S MADE WHEN I SWITCH FROM AWD TO EITHER 4LOW OR 4WD. COMMON PROBLEM PERSISTS WITH THIS MODEL EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE FAULTY AND CAUSE A EXHAUST LEAK ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COSTING AROUND 1,000 TO FIX. MINE HAS THE SAME ISSUE WHEN YOU HAVE A COLD ENGINE YOU HEAR A TICKING NOISE AND IT IS CAUSED BY BAD PARTS FROM THE FACTORY. THIS REPAIR IS VERY COMMON ON THESE MODELS. THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH CHANGING THEM DUE TO BREAKAGE OF THE MANIFOLD BOLTS THAT COST EXTREME AMOUNTS TO FIX AND SOMETIMES IF REPAIRED WRONG COSTING A ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

I WAS DRIVING DURING A RAINSTORM AND MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO STARTED SPUTTERING AND STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER MY CAR WAS TOWED & LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC I WAS TOLD THAT WATER WAS RUNNING DOWN THE WINDSHIELD & DRIPPING DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE AIR INTAKE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2004 THROUGH 2006 MODELS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE TRUE. I SPOKE WITH DODGE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND I COULD PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT UPDATED COWL PART # 55362453AK THIS PART IS SUPPOSED TO DIVERT THE WATER AWAY FROM THE INTAKE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT NO BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE PUBLIC. IN MY OPINION A VEHICLE THAT STALLS BECAUSE OF THE RAIN IS AN ISSUE. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS A 100000 MILES DUE TO THE WEATHER STRIPPING FAILING. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINES CAN BECOME WATERLOGGED AND THE ENGINE CAN BLOW A ROD THROUGH THE MOTOR WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR AFTER THE RAIN. ANY RESEARCH INTO THE SECOND GENERATION DODGE DURANGOS SHOULD PRODUCE MORE INFORMATION INCLUDING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AS I WOULD HATE FOR SOMEONE TO LOSE A LIFE BECAUSE THEIR VEHICLE STALLED.

In the winter of 2020 i had to use my 4wd lock in my durango. It never come out of 4wd lock. As a former ase technician and auto center manager I have to say dodge has a mess on their hands. 1st off its ridiculous to stop the flow of technical information to the owners of chrysler vehicles due to globalization!? I have been working on this vehicle for months as my patience allows. All testing and troubleshooting place the issue back into electrical issues within these durangos. This is a dangerous problem so many people own older dodge & chrysler products affected by this transfer case problem, recall it and get it done! Now it has to go to a chrysler dealer to have the codes cleared by a dodge scanner. Issue with that is the local dodge dealer in the village i live is not known for honesty. I took my durango there when i had issues with security system. I was told it would need a $1000. computer to start, then maybe another $1000. I took it home put a security module in it, been driving it since. Hold Chrysler accountable, do something for these thousands of people who own nice looking nice running dodge products they can't drive due to transfer case issues, and its not just one issue, there are several issues & components in that system that are troublesome!!

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AND LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL. IT HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN AM TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND GET IT OUT OF THE ROAD BEFORE BEING HIT.

THE 4WD SVC LIGHT WILL COME ON AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. SOMETIMES IT WILL BE SHIFTING INTO 4X4 ON IT'S ON AND WHEN I MAKE A TURN, I CAN FEEL THE 4X4 WORKING WITHOUT EVER PHYSICALLY TURNING IT ON. OTHER TIMES, I CAN HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR MAKING NOISE FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR OR PRESS THE KEY FOB BUTTON. I PULLED A TROUBLE CODE OF C1404. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO AND RECENTLY IT HAS STARTED DYING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. STEERING AND BRAKING BECOME VERY DIFFICULT AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. MY MECHANIC USED A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL AND SAID IT SHOWED A CODE FOR THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR, AND IT WAS REPLACED. 2006 DODGE DURANGO ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. MY DURANGO SHUT OFF TWICE IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS DURING TURNS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. design issue on rack and pinion assembly. Basically metal transfer pipes on side of assembly rust out. This is my second Durango 2006 model to have this problem. Complete loss of steering assist occurs because of loss of power fluid out of fore mentioned pipes. The pipes cannot be repaired, entire rack and assembly must be replaced. Exposure to road salt is cause of rusting as assembly is totally exposed under vehicle. Stainless steel pipes are a better way except to bean counters.

I PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE DURANGO IN FEB. OF 2006. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. MY ABS LIGHT ON THE DASH HAD BEEN COMING ON PERIODICALLY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE REQUIRED REPAIRS. THE ABS LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON AND I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES TO DATE AND AS OF YESTERDAY THE ABS LIGHT IS STILL COMING ON. THE SPEED LEADING UP TO THE INTERSECTION IS 35 MPH OR LESS. THE FORCE PRESSED ON THE BRAKES IS MODERATE FOR A SIMPLE, CONTROLLED STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. INSTEAD OF STOPPING NORMALLY, WE HEAR THE NOISE OF A SMALL MOTOR. THE BRAKES DON'T FEEL RIGHT AND THE CAR DOESN'T STOP QUICKLY. POWER WINDOWS: APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO, THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW SLIPPED DOWN AND WOULD NOT COME UP. WE WERE TOLD BY DODGE THAT IT WOULD BE @ $500.00 FIX (POWER WINDOW MOTOR/LABOR). WE MANAGED TO GET GLASS UP AND LEFT IT ALONE. NOT LONG AFTER THIS, MY DRIVER WINDOW WAS BROKEN BY A ROCK AND REPLACED BY SAFELITE, JUST THE GLASS. RECENTLY, THE DRIVER POWER WINDOW STARTED ACTING UP, FELL DOWN IN DOOR AND BROKE. WHEN GLASS WAS REPLACED 2ND TIME, SAFELITE TOLD US THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: DODGE VEHICLES CAN ONLY BE REPLACED WITH DODGE GLASS AND THAT UP UNTIL @ 2 YEARS AGO, THE 2 BRACKETS HOLDING THE GLASS TO THE MOVABLE POWER ARM WAS A METAL BRACKET. THIS METAL BRACKET HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A TYPE OF PLASTIC BRACKET ATTACHING TO MOVABLE POWER ARM. HEREIN LIES THE PROBLEM: OVER TIME, THE METAL BRACKETS RUST FROM MOISTURE (RAIN) LOSING ALL ADHESIVE IN IT THAT HOLDS GLASS IN PLACE. ONCE ADHESIVE IS GONE, THE GLASS COMES OUT OF BRACKET AND DROPS INTO DOOR OR CAN FALL OUT. EVEN IF GLASS DOES NOT BREAK, THERE IS NOT AN ADHESIVE AVAILABLE THAT ONE CAN TRY TO ADHERE TO GROOVE IN BRACKET TO SET GLASS IN. THEREFORE, THE CONSUMER IS FORCED TO PURCHASE A NEW GLASS THAT HAS NEW PLASTIC BRACKETS THAT ATTACH TO MOVABLE POWER ARM AND MAY BE ROOKED INTO PURCHASING NEW ARM/MOTOR. NOW WE KNOW THAT PASSENGER WINDOW PROBLEM IS LACK OF BRACKET ADHESIVE, ARM/MOTOR WORK FINE. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, OUR 2003 RAM 1500 PICK-UP IS HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES WITH BOTH FRONT WINDOWS! REAR WINDOWS ON BOTH VEHICLES SEEM TO BE OK, BECAUSE THEY ARE USED MUCH LESS. I HAD A 2004 DURANGO THAT GAVE ME THE SAME PROBLEM YEARS AGO AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS VEHICLE HAD A FUEL OVERFLOW PROBLEM. CHRYSLER HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON FIXING THIS. WHEN FILLING GAS TANK TO CAPACITY, THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AND GAS SPEWS FROM THE VEHICLE OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. I WOULD ESTIMATE MAYBE 1/2 TO 1 GALLON OF GAS IS INVOLVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, SHERWOOD, OF SALISBURY, MD IN 2011 TO HAVE PROBLEM ADDRESSED. WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM TO BE FIXED. RECEIVED LETTER DATED 2/1/2013 FROM CHRYSLER GROUP LLC STATING THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO LIFETIME COVERAGE FOR MY VEHICLE. IT GOES ON TO STATE THAT "IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THIS CONDITION NOW OR IN THE FUTURE, TO SIMPLY CONTACT YOUR DEALER TO HAVE THE REPAIRS PERFORMED. TOOK CAR TO SHERWOOD DEALERSHIP AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND. WAS TOLD IN JUNE 2013 THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE OF PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX MY VEHICLE AND THEY WOULD CALL IN A FEW MONTHS TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR. CALLED THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE ASSISTANCE CENTER AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT ON 6/4/2013. DECIDED TO FILE A GRIEVANCE HERE WITH THE NHTSA AS THIS IS AN EPA ISSUE AND SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE GASOLINE SPILLAGE. AS A RESULT OF THE GASOLINE SPILLAGE, THE PAINT UNDER THE FUEL FILLING AREA OF THE VEHICLE HAS BUBBLED AND HAS NOW RUSTED IN THAT AREA. HAVE REQUESTED THAT THIS PROBLEM ALSO BE TAKEN CARE OF AS IT IS A DIRECT RESULT OF A MALFUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE. HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WOULD MAKE THE REPAIR(WHENEVER THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE) BUT, WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE RUST ISSUE. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE FEEDBACK AS TO HOW TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. THIS HAPPENED SOMETIME IN 2008. THE THIRD SEATBELT TO BREAK IS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT. IT HAS BROKEN IN THE SAME FASHION AS THE FIRST TWO. THE PLASTIC PART THAT HOLDS THE BUCKLE ONTO THE SEATBELT HAS BROKEN. THIS CAUSES THE BELT TO SLIDE AROUND AND NOT STAY SNUG WHILE IT IS BUCKLED. THIS HAPPENED IN AUGUST 2009. TIPM / PCM (Computer modules) these items are affecting most Dodge vehicles that is listed already for recalls only in 2011-2013 and one earlier. This is happening in a lot of Dodges, mine is 1D4HB48N76F[XXX] (2006 Durango 4.7 SLT). They will stop running anywhere, it shuts the fuel pump off where the vehicles no longer gets gas and you have a full tank. It is only a computerized Dealer fix. Their recall for some vehicles will fix my 2006 also by the simply relay bypass that they are installing. UPON FIRST PURCHASING AT A DEALERSHIP THE PURCHASE WAS AS A USED VEHICLE, SO NO WARRANTY IS OR WAS IN PLACE. A FEW MONTHS LATER WHEN FILLING THE TANK AT A GAS STATION THE FIRST INCIDENT OF PROPULSION OF GASOLINE FORCING OUT OF THE TANK, FIRST HAPPENED. THEN A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE THE MOTOR WOULD NOT START. USING AN OBD TO CHECK CODES THERE WAS NO ERROR CODES BUT STILL ENDED UP CLEARING IT ANYWAYS WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO START (WHICH MEANS ITS THE COMPUTER). NOW, THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW IS DOWN AND WILL NOT GO BACK UP, CHECKED THE MOTOR AND THE MOTOR FOR THE WINDOW IS FINE, BUT CHECKING THE SWITCH IT WOULD ONLY UNLOCK DOOR, NOT ALLOW LOCK AND ABSOLUTELY NO WINDOW CONTROL AT ALL FROM EITHER THE PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH OR DRIVER SIDE SWITCH. THE VEHICLE, ON COLD START UP EXHIBITED A SURGING IDLE, FROM 500 RPM RANGING UP TO 2000 RPM. THE IDLE FINALLY LEVELED OUT AND SETTLED DOWN. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I NOTED SOME SURGING PRESENT WHILE AT A STEADY SPEED. ONCE, WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHILE IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE IDLE JUMPED UP AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE INTO THE INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NO CROSS TRAFFIC WAS PRESENT AND APPLYING THE BRAKES VERY HARD STOPPED THE VEHICLE FROM COMPLETELY RUNNING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PRESENT, NOR HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER ILLUMINATED ON THIS VEHICLE, (OTHER THAN THE BULB CHECK ON START UP), FOR ANY REASON. AS AN ASE MASTER AUTOMOBILE TECHNICIAN AND A FORMER CHRYSLER FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIAN, I CONNECTED A SCAN TOOL TO THIS VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. AS STATED, THERE WAS NO CEL, SO THERE WERE NO CODES ACTIVE, PENDING OR HISTORICAL. OBSERVATION OF THE LIVE DATA STREAM REVEALED NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF AND ON OR JUST COMPLETELY OFF. SIMPLY PUSHING ON THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH CAN REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. I DISASSEMBLED THE OLD SWITCH, AND THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE SURFACE MOUNT COMPONENT OF THE SWITCH CAME LOOSE ON ONE CORNER AND ALLOWED INTERMITTENT CONTACT WITH THE CIRCUIT. EPOXY WOULD PROBABLY HAVE FIXED IT, BUT FOR $40, I JUST REPLACED THE PART MYSELF. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT PANEL'S SEAT MOTOR CAP WAS SUPER GLUED ON AFTER PRONGS HAD BROKEN BY EITHER SELLING DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. THIS WAS FOUND TO HAVE HAPPENED WHEN VEHICLE WAS 8 MONTHS OLD AND THE CAP FELL OFF. AT 10 MONTHS OLD, THE SAME SEAT PANEL BUSTED WITH NORMAL ENTRY OF THE VEHICLE. I WEIGH 115 LBS. AT MY WEIGHT, THIS PIECE SHOULD NOT BREAK FROM NORMAL ENTRY. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF IT WAS A LARGER PERSON? WOULD THE WHOLE SEAT COME APART? THE LEATHER FORMS A U-SHAPE WHICH IS A NICE CUSHION WHEN SITTING IN THE SEAT, BUT WHEN ENTERING THE SEAT, THE DURANGO IS HIGH OFF THE GROUND AND THE SEAT/STEERING WHEEL DESIGN IS DESIGNED SO ONE HAS TO "SLIDE" INTO THE SEAT. WHEN YOU "SLIDE" INTO THE SEAT, THE SEAT PUSHES DOWN ON THE EDGES WHICH IN TURN PUSHES DOWN ON THE THIN, CHEAP PLASTIC AND THE PLASTIC CRACKS. THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM ONLY THIS ONCE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY STATED THEY FIX APPROXIMATELY 20 VEHICLES A MONTH THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY HAVE CONTACTED DODGE ABOUT REPLACING THE PLASTIC PIECE WITH MORE DURABLE MATERIAL TO NO AVAIL. IF THIS PLASTIC PIECE CONTINUES TO BREAK (AND IT WILL AS THEY ARE REPLACING WITH SAME QUALITY OF PLASTIC), THE MECHANISMS OF THE SEAT WILL BE OPEN TO THE TOUCH WHICH IS A DANGER TO THE SMALL HANDS OF CHILDREN WHO MAY REACH IN THE VEHICLE. THESE DURANGO'S HAVE ELECTRONIC BUTTONS ON THE SIDE OF THIS PANEL WHICH IF MOVED COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE AND DISFIGURE A CHILD'S HANDS OR FEET IF CAUGHT WHERE THE SEAT PANEL SHOULD BE. LIKE OTHERS I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO OUR MECHANIC'S BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO STALLED OUT. I STILL HAD RADIO AND POWER STEERING, SO I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I RESTARTED MY DURANGO, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, BUT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE WITHOUT ANY FURTHER ISSUES. THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE HAPPENS SPORADICALLY, REGARDLESS OF WEATHER OR SPEED. THERE ARE TIMES, AFTER SITTING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS TO GO THE GEARS ARE SLOW TO ENGAGE AND ACTUALLY START MOVING. SOMETIMES THE DURANGO SHIFTS ROUGHLY AS YOU ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE. AS TIME HAS GONE ON THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME MORE PERSISTENT. I FINALLY TOOK MY DURANGO IN TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF THESE PARTS BEING REPLACED, MY DURANGO AGAIN BEGAN STALLING OUT. I DID HAVE THE DURANGO STALL OUT TWICE, BACK TO BACK, LOSING ALL POWER IN THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING POWER STEERING. I MANAGED TO GET HOME AND CALLED THE MECHANIC. THIS TIME HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE. THE DURANGO IS STILL STALLING OUT AND SOMETIMES VERY SLOW TO ENGAGE GEARS WHEN STARTING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THIS PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY ADDRESS IN THE 2004-2005 MODELS AND CORRECTED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY DURANGO AS IT IS NOT RELIABLE; THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. AT RANDOM TIMES, INCLUDING WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO AWD WILL ENGAGE THE 4WD. IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN YOU INSERT THE KEY AND BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE. IT ALSO MAKES THE CLICKING SOUND AS IF IT IS ENGAGING WHEN YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS (POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM?) IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING WHILE TURNING A CORNER, SUCH AS THE SHARP CORNERS IN A DRIVE-THRU. THE EFFECT IS SUCH THAT ONE WHEEL LOCKS UP AS IF ONE FRONT WHEEL HAS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. WHEN GOING STRAIGHT THERE IS NO ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND FORUMS WHERE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT, AND DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE AT THE DEALERSHIP. OFTEN THEIR RESPONSE IS TO SIMPLY REPLACE ONE OR MORE OF THE THREE MAIN COMPONENTS WITHOUT VERIFYING THAT IS THE ISSUE. THIS CAN BE QUITE EXPENSIVE FOR THE OWNER AND FRUSTRATING AFTER SPENDING LARGE SUMS OF MONEY AND THE ISSUE REMAINS UNSOLVED. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER MIGHT HAVE THIS ISSUE IN A DRIVE-THRU, AND TO OVERCOME THE LACK OF MOVEMENT AFTER PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THEY MAY REV THE ENGINE. THIS MIGHT OVERCOMPENSATE AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO DART FORWARD INTO ANOTHER CAR, OR EVEN INTO THE BUILDING AS THE WHEELS ARE TURNED TO GO AROUND THE CORNER. Several repairs for sensor Labor: Check and advise the check engine light is on and the vehicle wants to stall when accelerating. Vehicle loses engine power but has not stalled completely (low/reverse solenoid circuit. Test and replaced transmission solenoid assembly; cost: $819.65, prior to that $1200.00, $546.00. I'm unemployed and the truck costing more repairs. The plastic on radiator has cracked all the way cross and leaks coolant, stop radiator leak encourage by dealership and to seal leak or replace radiator (it's upsetting and its cost me thousands of dollars, my last two SUV was dodge Durango and I love them but this one has given the most problems and cost me financially. Plus, when I purchased the dealership replace windshield because of flaw in glass and it wasn't repaired correctly and Oakland County Sheriff said my truck was dangerous, but you said it was fine. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND COMING TO A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. THE VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING AT 60 MPH WHEN RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE THROTTLE REMAINED WIDE OPEN WHEN RELEASED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF TO BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE THROTTLE STARTED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE ON POSITION AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS FORTY DEGREES OR LESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

THE DURANGO GOES INTO 4 WHEEL LOCK FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE FOUR WHEEL LOCK LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF AND CLICKING. THE AUTO WON'T GO ANYWHERE UNTILL I SHIFT IT BACK AND FORTH - REVERSE - FORWARD - WHEN I FIRST TRY TO BACK IT UP THERE IS A NOICE UNDER THE HOOD THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CHAIN RATTLING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAVE HAD TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES. THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.

THIS DURANGO HAD SPEWED GAS DURING FILL UP EVER SINCE PURCHASED 11/2006, SO I JUST TRIED TO BE CAREFUL WHEN FILLING. APRIL 2012, I HAD SOME RUST FIXED AROUND THE REAR WHEEL AREA ON THE GAS TANK SIDE. DID NOT REALLY THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT AT THE TIME. 1/29/14 I HAD AN INLET CHECK VALVE REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO NOTIFICATION FROM CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THOUGHT THEN THAT THIS DEFECT IS PROBABLY WHAT CAUSED MY RUST ISSUE BUT I HAD HAD THAT FIXED SO DID NOT THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT....UNTIL IT STARTED TO RUST AGAIN IN THE SAME AREA. THIS IS A WITHOUT A DOUBT CAUSED BY THE FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVE. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER INTENTIONALLY DID NOT NOTIFY THEIR CLIENTS UNTIL THE 100,000 MILE RUST WARRANTY WAS UP. THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE RESULTING DAMAGE FROM THE FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVE.

ON 6/14/2015 I WAS ABOUT TO BACK MY TRAILER INTO MY YARD, WHEN MY GEAR SHIFT COLUMN SELECTOR LOCKED IN PARK. I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WOULD NOT BUDGE. ADDITIONALLY, MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NO LONGER WORKING. PRIOR TO ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS I HAD TO REPLACE MY IGNITION FOR IT WAS LOCKING AND WOULD NOT TURN TO THE ON POSITION OR ACCESSORIES POSITION. IT COST ME $400 DOLLARS FOR A NEW IGNITION TO BE INSTALLED BY THE DEALER AND NOW I HAVE WORSE PROBLEMS THAN BEFORE. SO I BEGAN RESEARCHING AND HERE IS MY FINDINGS: 1) SAFETYRECALL G28 -IGNITION/PARK SHIFT INTERLOCK IN 2001 AND 2002 MODELS FOR MANY VEHICLES WHICH INCLUDED THE DURANGO. 2) THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK CONNECTOR HAS MALFUNCTIONED WILL NOT ALLOW THE SHIFTER TO MOVE. SO IF THE DEALER KNOWS ABOUT THESE RECALLS WHY DIDN'T THEY FIX THEM FREE OF CHARGE.

I WOULD IMEDIATELY SHUT THE ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE. THEN CRANK BACK UP. THE GAGE WOULD GO DOWN BACK TO NORMAL STATUS. IF I COME TO ANOTHER STOP AT A STOP LIGHT IT WILL GO UP AGAIN. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT CHECKED, ACCESSOR FINDS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT'S A FUNNY THING WINTER MONTHS MY SUV WOULD NEVER RUN HOT. MY CAR AT 65 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY CAR JUST TURNED OFF. NO WARNING OR NOTICE. CAR CAME TO A CRAWL. I WAS LUCKY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. ONE THERE THE CAR LIGHTS CAME ON THE CHECK ENGINE, RED BOLT LIGHTS AND THE OIL LIGHT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I STARTED CAR AND IT STALLED THEN STARTED BUT WAS A ROCKY START. I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CAR WORKED FINE. THEN 3 MONTHS LATER THE CAR DID THE SAME TIME. THIS WHEN I PLACED IT IN THE SHOP THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. SO $1400 DOLLARS LATER AND 5 DAYS I PICKED UP MY CAR AND 3 MILES AWAY FROM SHOP THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK THEY DID A TEST THE CODES WHERE COMING BACK AS A WEIRD CODES. THEY DID NOT HAVE A CLEAR ANSWER SO THEY DID A THROTTLE CLEAN. CAR WORKED FINE. NEXT 3 MONTHS. I WENT OUT OF STATE IN JUNE 2013 WHEN MY CAR STOPPED AGAIN MY CAR WAS LEFT IN THIS STATE WAITING ON COMPUTER BOARD THAT WAS OUT OF STOCK UNTIL AUGUST 2013 WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR THEY PLACED THE NEW SYSTEM IN IT ALONG WITH A WIRELESS KEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURED, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND DID NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO, BOUGHT IT USED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF AGO, APPROXIMATELY MARCH OF 2013, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS AND AFTER IT HAPPENING MULTIPLE TIMES WE FIGURED OUT THAT IT HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS WET/RAINING OUT. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS WHEN GOING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY...TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE JERK NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUTOFF (AKA NO POWER AT ALL!). WE HAVE SPENT A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS SINCE SPRING OF 2013 TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE. WE WORKED CLOSELY WITH OUR DEALER TO FIGURE OUT THE EXACT PROBLEM...FIGURED OUT IT WAS ELECTRICAL (POSSIBLY WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARE USED...)BUT THAT WAS ABOUT AS FAR AS WE GOT. SOME OF THE THINGS THEY FOUND AND/OR FIXED OR REPLACED ARE AS FOLLOWS: WIRING THAT WAS FRAYED, RE-GROUND NUMEROUS WIRES, REPLACED A HANDFUL OF SENSORS, RESEALED CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND MAIN MODULE (AS WELL AS RESEALED THE BOXES THEMSELVES SINCE WATER WAS FOUND IN THEM), REPLACED THE ELECTRICAL MODULE ($2K), AND REPLACED ENTIRE ELECTRICAL BOX(WHICH INCLUDED HAVING TO RE-WIRE)...FOUND A USED ONE SINCE BRAND NEW WOULD HAVE BEEN $1200! . I HAVE RECENTLY SEEN THAT THERE WAS A PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT TO INVESTIGATE (AND HOPEFULLY RECALL) VEHICLES THAT HAVE SITUATIONS SIMILAR TO WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED ABOVE BUT THEY REFERENCE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED 2007 AND FORWARD BUT OUR 2006 IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES!! I HAVE TWO ISSUES WITH MY DURANGO. DURING FUELING THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF CAUSING AN OVERFLOW OF GAS ON THE GROUND, ON MY SHOES, ETC. THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS/ WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON, AND THE ODOMETER AND RPM GAUGES BOUNCE FROM ZERO TO LIKE 5000 RPM WHILE DRIVING. THE AC AND RADIO AND DVD AND NAVIGATION ALL SHUT OFF AND ON ALSO WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO CROWN MOTORS ON JUNE 21 AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TESTS RAN AND NOTHING CAME UP ALL WAS FINE. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN WHEN IT DID IT AND TO LEAVE IT RUN WHEN I GO INSIDE TO LET THEM KNOW. I TOOK BACK DOWN THERE ON JUNE 24 AS IT WAS DOING IT ALL AGAIN. THEY IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND STATED YOU DEFINITELY HAVE SOMETHING WRONG. THEY TOLD AFTER AN HOUR THAT THEY COULD ONLY GET THE READING UP TO THE ECM AND ANYTHING AFTER THAT IT IS NOT SHOWING UP THAT IT IS DEAD. THEY CALLED THE LEAD ENGINEER AT DODGE TO TRY AND FIND A SOLUTION. I TALKED TO THEM ON JUNE 25 AND STILL NO ANSWER. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO PUT $10 IN GAS AND WAS GOING TO CHARGE THAT TO ME AS THEY LOST THE SIGNAL TO DIAGNOSTIC SUE TO TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF. THEY DROVE AROUND FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES TO TRY AND REESTABLISH THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT HAPPENED. I CALLED THEM TODAY JUNE 27,2013 AND TOLD I COULD COME AND PICK UP THE VEHICLE AS THEY CAN NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO DO THE PROBLEMS AGAIN TO REESTABLISH THE CONNECTIONS. THEY ALSO SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO JUST BRING IT BACK OVER SO THEY CAN REESTABLISH THE CONNECTION FOR THE PROBLEMS. I KNOW THAT THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THESE VEHICLES. INTERIOR LIGHTS NEVER GO OFF AND HAS A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT TAKES SEVEN DAYS TO GET THE PART AND HAVE IT PROGRAMMED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION. THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS THREE OTHER RECALLS THAT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT. I THINK THEY ARE MAKING THIS DIFFICULT SO THAT CUSTOMERS WILL NOT GET THEIR RECALLS DONE. THERE IS ALSO A RECALL ON A SUSPENSION PART THAT COULD CAUSE AN CRASH- WIPERS AND LIGHTS- AND FILLING THE GAS TANK IS A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ........ AS I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY, MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO SUDDENLY STALLED OUT. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER IT STALLED. I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING AND WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE. I NEARLY CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ENOUGH TO RUN INTO THE CURB TO STOP MY VEHICLE! I WAS NOT ABLE TO RE-START IT AND HAD TO BE TOWED. WHILE WAITING FOR POLICE TO ARRIVE, I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT WAS TOWED TO A SHOP AND THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO START IT UP WITH NO PROBLEM THE NEXT MORNING. HE CHECKED EVERYTHING, AND RAN ALL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS - ALL CAME BACK SHOWING NO PROBLEMS. THERE IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM - AND THERE ARE MAN, MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE CRASH AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT TRIGGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SPECIFICATIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE BRAKES WERE CURRENTLY MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER REPEATEDLY WHERE THEY CONTINUED TO TURN THE WARNING LIGHTS OFF; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. 06 DODGE DURANGO FUEL TANK NOT CENSORING AND SPILLING OUT GASOLINE WHEN A FULL TANK IS REACHED. THE FIRST TIME IT DONE IT, I WAS OUT SEEING PATIENTS AND THE GASOLINE SPILLED OUT ON MY JEANS. I HAD TO STOP AT A WALMART THAT WAS LUCKILY NEARBY AND PURCHASE A PAIR OF JEANS, SO I COULD CONTINUE WORKING. SINCE THEN I HAVE TO WATCH MY FUEL GAUGE AND WHEN IT RISES ABOVE THE 3/4 LINE I STOP THE PUMP AND EASE THE GAS IN A LITTLE AT A TIME. I LOOK AT THE FUEL GAUGE AND IT HAS A DELAY AS TO WHEN IT REGISTERS THE GASOLINE THAT HAS BEEN PUMPED. THIS IS VERY AGGRAVATING, THE ESTIMATE TO GET IT REPLACED IS ANYWHERE FROM $850 TO $1300. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED WITH A 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. MY ISSUES IS WITH THE ESP (TRACTION CONTROL). THE ESP LIGHT IS COMING ON AND THE ESP IS ENGAGING WHEN MAKING TURNS (LEFT & RIGHT). IT ALSO FEELS EXTREMELY LOSE AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH. WHEN ON THE FREEWAY IT FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING ON ICE AND IF I HIT A BUMP, IT KICKS THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, SOMETIMES CLOSE TO GOING INTO THE ADJACENT LANE. WHEN I TRY TO CORRECT THIS ACT BY STEERING BACK INTO THE LANE, THE ESP IS ENGAGING. WHEN THE ESP ENGAGES IT CAUSE THE WHEEL ITS ENGAGING ON TO START BRAKING. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE ESP ENGAGING ON TURNS FOR NO REASON. IT HAPPENS AT SPEEDS OF 5PMH, 20MPH AND ALL THE WAY UP TO 75MPH. I SENT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT IT FOR A WEEK AND A HALF AND RETURNED IT SAYING THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX IT AND WERE NOT EXACTLY SURE WHY ITS DOING IT. 2006 DODGE DURANGO HAS HAD MULTIPLE ENGINE & ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITHIN 6 MONTH PERIOD. FIRST CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, TOOK ALL STRENGTH TO GET CAR TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD W/O POWER STEERING & LOCKED STEERING COLUMN. LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THAT COMPUTER WAS FRIED & COVERED UNDER EMISSIONS WARRANTY. TOWED TO DODGE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THERE WAS NOT A COMPUTER PROBLEM, JUST CAM SHAFT NEEDED REPLACING & RECALL ON INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. AFTER $450 REPAIR FOR CAM SHAFT & TOW, A WEEK LATER CAR STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. APROX EVERY OTHER TIME I WOULD START CAR, THE RADIO & ELECTRICAL DISPLAY (CLOCK) ON RADIO WOULD NOT WORK--APPEARED TO NOT GET POWER. SIX WEEKS LATER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. BY THIS TIME, ORIGINAL DODGE DEALERSHIP HAD BEEN CLOSED, SO WENT TO ANOTHER DODGE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THEY FOUND ANOTHER WIRING PROBLEM WITH ENGINE. COULD NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM WITH AUDIO/CLOCK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER. THIS TIME LOCAL MECHANIC ADVISED IT WAS A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. REPLACED FUEL PUMP, CHECKED FUSE & STILL COULD NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM WITH AUDIO/DISPLAY. 9 DAYS LATER WENT TO START CAR IN THE AM, AND ELECTRICAL SEEMED TO SPUTTER (LIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANE, WIPERS, RADIO) BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. STARTER DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ENGAGING THE ENGINE AT ALL. DIAGNOSED AS STARTED MOTOR PROBLEM, STARTER MOTOR REPLACED, BUT CAR STILL NOT FIXED. THEN TOLD BATTERY TERMINALS & CABLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CAR NOW STARTS, BUT AUDIO/DISPLAY ISSUE STILL UNRESOLVED. CONCERN THAT THERE IS A LARGER PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THIS VEHICLE, WHICH IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF ALL RECENT PROBLEMS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I LOSE POWER, I WAS BARELY ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL ENOUGH TO GET THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN WITHIN A COUPLE MINUTES AND SAFELY RETURN HOME (IT WAS DARK), HOWEVER THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND IT FELT AS THOUGH IT WOULD LOOSE POWER AGAIN, LIKE I WAS DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON. THE BRAKES ON MY 2006 DURANGO SEEM TO SLIP AT TIMES. I HAVE GONE TO STOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND THE BRAKES SEEM TO TAKE A SECOND TO KICK IN. I HAVE THOUGHT BEFORE I WASN'T GOING TO STOP. THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN TO ME, ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN WITH ME. I FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG, AND I AM NOT SAFE AT TIMES IN THIS CAR. ISSUE I: STALL VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A SLOPING ROAD THAT CURVED TO THE RIGHT APPROX 35-45 MPH. STEERING BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND I REALIZED MOMENTS LATER THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE WAS NO LONGER RUNNING. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. I RECENTLY WENT ONLINE TO DISCOVER TO MY HORROR THAT I AM NOT ALONE. IN FACT, ON ONE DISCUSSION GROUP OVER A HUNDRED PEOPLE REPORTED EXPERIENCING STALLS. I HAVE A PREGNANT WIFE. I AM CONCERNED THAT WERE THIS TO HAPPEN TO HER SHE WOULD NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO CONTROL SUCH A LARGE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ISSUE II: REPEATED WARPING OF BRAKES. HAD VEHICLE FOR APPROX. 6,000 MILES WHEN NOTED PULSATION OF BRAKES. AT NEXT SERVICE I INQUIRED ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE GROUND DOWN. I FELT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER DECLINED. APPROX. 4,000 MILES LATER THE PROBLEM BEGAN TO RE-OCCUR. I NOTED PROBLEM TO DEALERSHIP AT NEXT SERVICE. THEY EXPRESSED THE ROTORS ARE WARPED. DEALERSHIP ACCUSED ME OF DRIVING TO AGGRESSIVELY AS BEING THE ONLY CAUSE. I DO NOT ACCEPT THIS AS VALID. I AM NOT AN AGGRESSIVE DRIVER. I HAVE SEEN THAT NUMEROUS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I HAVE SINCE READ THAT IMPROPERLY TORQUING THE LUG NUTS MAY BE A CAUSE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK IT UNREASONABLE TO EXPECT BREAKS ON A NEW VEHICLE TO LAST MORE THAN 4K-6K MILES BEFORE NEEDING MAINTENANCE. MY LAST SUV REQUIRED ONE SIGNIFICANT BREAK SERVICE DURING THE 115,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. I FEEL THAT BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ENDANGER THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. I FEEL THAT NEITHER ISSUE HAS BEEN SATISFACTORY ADDRESSED BY DODGE. *JB

A/C IN MY BRAND NEW 2006 DODGE DURANGO DOESN'T COOL DOWN PROPERLY DURING DAYTIME OPERATING HOURS. WE LIVE IN TEXAS AND WE BOUGHT OUR DURANGO IN JULY OF THIS YEAR. MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH DUAL A/C. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP COMPLAINING THAT THE CONDITIONED AIR FROM THE VENTS, EVEN WHEN THE CONTROL IS IN THE MAX POSITION, IS ONLY AMBIENT AT BEST. I KNOW WHAT COLD AIR FEELS LIKE! THIS IS TEXAS! THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT BECAUSE OF ALL THE GLASS AND LARGE FRONT WINDSHIELD CAUSES THE INTERIOR TO HEAT UP AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN. HOWEVER THE A/C COOLS DOWN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE VERY RAPIDLY IN THE EARLY MORNING AND LATE EVENING HOURS OF THE DAY WHEN THE SUN ISN'T AS INTENSE. *NM

INTERMITTENT AND SPONTANEOUS ACTIVATION OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHERS DURING OPERATION OF THE STEERING WHEEL UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. STEERING WHEEL SOUND SYSTEM CONTROLS WORK ERRATICALLY OR IN REVERSE OF NORMAL FUNCTION. IGNITION REMAINS ENGAGED UNTIL SWITCH IS RECYCLED. SEEMS TO BE LOW TEMPERATURE RELATED( HAPPENS MORE OFTEN IN THE COOLER AM). VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REPAIR ATTEMPTS. CLOCK SPRING,MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH,INDIVIDUAL AUDIO CONTROLS, AND THE FRONT CONTROL MODULE HAVE BEEN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BY THE DEALER WITH OUT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. DEALER STATES THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT AUTHORIZE ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT MAY RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, OR A VEHICLE FIRE, AND INJURIES TO MY FAMILY. MY ABS LIGHT & BRAKE LIGHT COME ON, AND MY PASSENGER AIR BAG TURNS OFF. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE AND THE BACK END GET TIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, AND THE LAST TIME WAS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, AND I WAS LUCKY TO MISS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN ON 4/18/06 AND HAD ALL RECALL WORK DONE, AND THE VEHICLE STILL IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS LAST INSTANCE SCARED ME TO THE POINT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHIVLE.
