Lower portions of rear tail light are failing due to water infiltration.

Rear liftgate taillight assembly seal has failed allowing water to get in. As a result, the led lighting element has failed which dramatically reduces rear visibility by other vehicles.

The rear lights on the tailgate on these vehicles continue to fail due to water inclusion. This affects night time visibility. I've noticed this trend on many Dodge Durango models spanning many different years. My vehicle had this occurrence with roughly 70,000 miles. Many vehicle owners have had much earlier failures.

The “race track light” on the rear hatch of the vehicle has allowed water to get in to the electrical LED components and has caused a portion of the light to fail. It seems to be a common failure and it creates a safety issue with visibility of the vehicle at night. In addition, the component to replace this light is very very expensive, with no hope that the new part will not fail in the same manner.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that after a visual inspection of the vehicle, he became aware that the taillights were not functioning properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the taillight sealant, resulting in water leaking into the casing and short-circuiting the wiring. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 79,000.

While driving; the vehicles dashboard, navigation system, entire vehicles light glitches as well as speed diminishes but doesn't completely shuts off only for seconds at a time causing the vehicle to continue accelerating while also pulling back like a chocking sensation as dashboard speed goes from 0mph to a lower speed vehicle was previously traviling at.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while attempting to add the vehicle to the insurance company policy, the Carfax history report showed a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 69,752; however, it was later discovered on the Carfax history report that the mileage was 153,000 on December 22, 2022.

My race track tail lights and license plate lights just stopped working all together. This poses visibility issues of a safety concern for those approaching from behind me. No warnings or other symptoms/issues were present. No LED lights were burnt out prior to all of the lights not working all at once. They all were working in the morning when I left for work and then did not turn on when I left work that day. I checked the fuse which is fine. All other lights on the side of the quarter panels (ie. turn signals, reverse lights, tail lights) work and the brake light at the top of the lift gate works properly.

This is now the 2nd time the racetrack light that houses the rear taillight assembly has allowed water to gain entry into the electrical system. Causes the lights to corrupt and short out. FCA refuses to acknowledge this issue. This is a problem not just with my vehicle but there are 100's of these reported on the internet. Including a pending class action lawsuit because FCA refuses to acknowledge the issue. We need someone with higher authority to hold FCA accountable and issue a recall with a permanent fix! Please help me and all the other owners!!!!

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle jerked and hesitated to respond, and the engine made an abnormal revving sound. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for brake servicing, the contact was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V541000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included on the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure had persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

While I was merging onto the freeway with my daughter, I accelerated to a speed of 60 mph and it felt like my transmission dropped. My car was revving at 5k rpm’s and would not allow me to go any faster than 45 mph. Luckily no accident occurred as I was able to safely get my child and myself off the freeway. I now have a service appointment scheduled with dodge to see why this happened. But after ready these other complaints, I now see this is a potential recall! Hopefully my warranty covers this repair…

While driving, the transmission gave out. There was no prior indication of any issue - no warning light and no different noise. The car wouldn't change gears, which was an extremely dangerous situation in traffic. This transmission is "supposed" to be so good that there isn't a way to even check the transmission oil - there is no dipstick. Dodge claims that the oil doesn't need to be checked, it is that good. Howerver, after the failure and having it towed to the dealer, the report was that the transmission was was black! How is a consumer supposed to be able to check a basic, required fluid with no dipstick? There isn't a way to have any preventative check on the transmission, yet it just fails without warning? There are at least two design flaws that compromise safety - no way to check the transmission oil, and the transmission completely going out without so much as an engine light coming on first. I purchased the car new, and it only has 70,000 miles on it - a transmission should not have black fluid and go out with that little use.

GEAR SHIFT WILL SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHILE RUNNING AND SHIFTED TO DRIVE WITHOUT ANYONE IN THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE ALSO SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL. WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. HAD TO SHUTOFF VEHICLE AND RESTART IT TO GET OUT OF PARK.

Rear tail panel lights don’t work, water intrusion causing failure

Water has been collecting in the right hand side of my racetrack taillight on my 2017 Durango causing my entire strip to burn out completely. It seems as though debris and bugs have also made their way into the tail light as both are visible and trapped within the light assembly. The taillight flickers upon starting the car and then completely stops working. I attempted to dry the light out by removing it, getting all condensation and collected water out, sealing up the parts that were weeping and cleaning up the gaskets that had weak spots but the entire assembly seems to have totally failed. This car has had no rear end damage and nothing happened that would have compromised the unit to cause this issue.

The whole back panel of tail, break, blinker, licenses plate lights do not work. The seal does not perform properly and causes water to build up in the lights and fries them. It causes the vehicle to be unsafe when driving due to no lights working. No warnings were given at all just completely quit working.

The rear “track light” which includes the camera within the assembly collects water from a failed seal. This causes lights and electrical components to be damaged and stop working. Drivers losing function in their brake/tail lights and cameras causes dangerous situations on the road. This is a common issue in the 14’-‘20 models.

Bought a used 17 Dodge Durango from Audi Hunt Valley of autonation July of 2024 nothing but any problem misfires camshaft issue camshaft has been replaced twice now in less than a year and now it needs a new transmission. I purchased an extended warranty for engine and transmission. Now they are not covering it I spoke to somebody through corporate office. Put a complaint in. I also contacted Dodge. There’s also a claim with them as well. Nobody has reached out for the corporate office so I bought a vehicle that didn’t even last a year that needs a transmission. That’s not a reliable vehicle safety concern I have all documentation from repair shops that work has been done. I’ve also have been in contact with an attorney about this so something needs to be done ASAP before I file a lawsuit. I want a different vehicle or my money back.

No warning lights were illuminated. The contact safely maneuvered onto an exit and parked the vehicle for several minutes before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that the cause for the failure was not determined. My car started leaking oil I took it to a local mechanic and I was told that the oil filter housing needs to be replaced. He said that he sees that problem with thos vehicles he even sain that he is surprised that it has been recalled because apparently it breaks easily and it needs to be changed to a metal. Again he mentioned how he sees this problem often with this specific car.

The manufactured plastic oil housing unit cracked during negative temperatures on [XXX] in Webb City MO. I had a pool of oil under my car, and now my engine shakes during low idle. Bought brand new in 2017 with regular car maintenance, this 2017 dodge durango starting having engine problems now with almost 100k miles on it. at first we had the check engine light on. It has smoke and misfire on cyl 3car didn't star. Mechanic repaired head on rt head on all related gaskets, replaced starter. Now, out of the sudden car starting leaking oil, took it to the mechanic and they said the engined must be replaced because a cylinder rod went through engine block. The car only has 103k miles, it always had regular and proper maintenance.

While driving, the Active Headrest Restraint deployed on the passenger side WITHOUT accident. It appears the plastic piece that holds the pin broke. Luckily there wasn't a passenger present but this could've done serious head injury. This also puts the driver at risk for the driver side could deploy randomly. There were no messages or warnings or any symptoms indicating to the failure.

The driver’s side headrest deployed while I was driving. There was no warning and no impact. The headrest pushed my head forward, slamming into the back of it. This could have been a disaster, gigantic safety risk.

Started the vehicle, my wife was in the passenger seat. The headrest exploded apart and hit her in the back of the head. It hit her pretty hard in the back of the head. She had a headache but no medical attention was needed. I'm hoping this does not happen to the drivers side while I am driving.

While parked, the front passenger headrest split apart. The active headrest appears to have broken or deployed. The vehicle was in park. No collision. Drive seat did not deploy. Reset of headrest doesn’t not seem possible. latches appear broke. No noise when this occurred. Back seat passenger witnessed the headrest randomly split open

On [XXX] 2024 my wife, son, and I were sitting at a stop light on [XXX] at approximately 16:40 hours when we heard a loud pop in the vehicle and my wife's head was pushed forward by the passenger side seat head rest, causing pain to my wife's head and neck, and shoulder muscles. Upon inspection of the head rest, it had become separated in the middle (pictures attached). Vehicle is equipped with the active head restraint system. My wife has not received medical attention yet but is quite sore this morning. We will contact our dealer to replace the head rest (and the driver's side head rest) and request the defective head rest be returned to us so it is available for NHTSA inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance rep, or others yet. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This happened suddenly without any warning while we were stopped at a traffic light. Our safety was put at risk by the sudden failure and violent expansion to the head rest causing pain to my wife. Had this occurred on the driver's side while the vehicle was in motion, it could have caused a motor vehicle crash resulting in severe injury, property damage, or even death. I'm reporting the race track tailgate light on my 2017 durango has been taking in water from top of the light. I have been reading about a law suit against Dodge cause of this issue on 2014 thru 2023 dodge durango. So im putting my complaint in on my cause its doing the same thing. part of the lower left side on mine has shorted out due to the water leaking from the top of the race track light.

When driving the vehicle there is loss of acceleration and doesn't go faster than 10 miles per hour while I was on the freeway. I had to pull over to a stop on a busy freeway with 4 children and myself a single mother. I was scared that I may be rear ended while on the freeway. I had it towed to the dealer and they said it was the transmission.

ON JANUARY 6, 2020, I PLACED MY 2017 DODGE DURANGO INTO PARK IN MY HOME'S DRIVEWAY AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, LEAVING THE EMPTY VEHICLE IDLING. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF PARK AND INTO DRIVE AND ROLLED AWAY, FORWARD, INTO MY GARAGE, CAUSING SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE. I HAVE THE INCIDENT RECORDED ON VIDEO, BUT I AM UNABLE TO UPLOAD IT TO THIS WEBSITE. I WILL HAPPILY FORWARD IT BY EMAIL OR OTHER MEANS IF REQUESTED. I ALSO HAVE PHOTOS OF THE GARAGE DAMAGE. I AM AWARE THAT DODGE/JEEP/RAM HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THE DIAL GEAR SHIFTER SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR RESULTING IN ROLLAWAY INCIDENTS. Vehicle would not fill up with fuel. Took to dealership, dealership quoted $2700 to fix the issue. Issue was stated as fuel had entered the evap canister (somehow) and would need to be replaced and because this needed to be replaced the fuel tank needed to be replaced as well. 10 days later I received a bill for $2700 for a replaced tank and cannister with no real explanation as to why it happened. After reading on NHTSA, this seems to be a more than "random" occurrence with this vehicle and needs to be updated to a manufacture defect/recall. Customers should not be paying for a defect directly from the factory. Especially when said defect is costing customers $2000+. Additionally, with the exposed risk of gasoline spewing out of the fill nozzle on to owners, this poses a serious threat to health and safety of the environment and owners of these vehicles. Not to mention the fueling stations as well.

I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED A FUELING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM. THIS IS TO UPDATE THE INFORMATION AND PROBLEM. FUEL STILL CAN'T BE PUT INTO THE TANK. THE RELIEVE VALVE OR SOMETHING IN THE SYSTEM FORCES THE GAS STATION FUEL PUMP TO CUT OFF EVERY FEW SECONDS. THE SOLUTION FROM THE DEALER AND ONE MECHANIC IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AT $1500-$1600. IF YOU CAN'T PUT FUEL IN A VEHICLE THAT'S 3 YEARS OLD WITH 45K MILES, HOW CAN IT BE SAFE TO DRIVE? I BASICALLY HAVE TO STAND THERE FOR 10-15 MINUTES CLICKING THE FUEL PUMP OVER AND OVER WHILE HOLDING THE FUEL PUMP LEVER AT 1/3 ON. I NOW HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE TANK IS ACTUALLY FULL OR NOT OTHER THAN GUESSING BY HOW MANY GALLONS I THINK SHOULD BE GOING INTO THE TANK. GUESSING INCORRECTLY RESULTS IN GAS POURING OUT OF THE TANK, DOWN THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. GREAT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.

THE CAPLESS (NO GAS CAP) FUEL SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PUT FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. IT HAS SOME SORT OF CHECK VALVE THAT IS FAILING AND CAUSES THE FUEL PUMP TO SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING ON EMPTY. IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET, THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT STARTED AS AN OCCASIONAL PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 2 YEARS OLD. NOW AT 3 YEARS OLD, THE ONLY WAY TO FILL IT, IS TO TURN THE GAS PUMP HANDLE UPSIDE DOWN WHICH CAN CAUSE GAS TO LEAK OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. EVEN THIS METHOD ONLY WORKS 60% OF THE TIME. IF YOU CAN'T PUT GAS IN THE VEHICLE, YOU ARE AT RISK OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM.

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FILL TANK WITH GASOLINE, THE PUMP CONSTANTLY SHUTS OFF. I'VE ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE TRIED FILLING THE TANK AS WELL. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE LOCATION/DIRECTION OF THE NOZZLE IN THE TANK FILL VALVE AREA....YOU CANNOT FILL THE TANK. I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 4 TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND I AM STILL UNABLE TO FILL THE TANK. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL NOZZLE, REPLACED THE GAS TANK, REPLACED THE FILTER & COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED AND REASSEMBLED THE GAS TANK.

Electric Power Steering failed at 3 years (2020) as of this date (6/2023) no repair parts (paid for years ago) can be had. Even junkyard parts are VIN-coded making them also useless.

I took my 2017 Durango RT AWD in for my steering rack locking up on me while driving and after being parked out in the cold for about 10 min. The two technicians working on it did there multi point inspection and stated that my CV boot had a slight tear and needed replacement as the gears had sediment but were not able to recreate my issue as no codes came out minus a message stating Steering Rack was hot and was limited. A few hrs later they called and said it was done and when I picked it up after paying over $1000 I was not able to leave parking lot because the steering was locked. The brought out the techs and tried to get some codes with no luck. I did even ask to see the old CV boot to see what happened and they told me that they could not show it to me because it was a core they had to swap out. Either way, they told me that the worst thing they did not want was that I needed a new rack and pinion and was looking upwards to $5000 with labor($2K for part alone). It took me about 20 min in their parking lot moving forward and backwards until it unlocked on me. Essentially, I made it home 45 min later fighting with steering which locked up on me while driving almost crashing into the bridge rails on certain occasions or other obstacles as I had to get to the median so I could turn the wheels back in order to warm them up or vehicle to warm up as I was driving in cold weather. When i got home i looked under the vehicle and noticed the passenger steering rack boot cover being really stiff. I waited an hour and cut open the boot and noticed water had accumulated and there was lack of grease. Purchased another dust cover boot for $50 and cleaned and lubricated the steering rack and lucky that has stopped my issue for a while but keeps locking the wheel momentarily.

Started car and got a C2217-00 code Electic power steering module internal. Electric Power Steering is disabled. The part is unavailable. Making the vehicle useless. Can't use a used part, the VIN is programmed into the unit, on starting you get a VIN mismatch error and the Electric Power Steering is again disabled.

The suspension rod that lifts and holds the liftgate open snapped at the bolt and broke. The liftgate can only be opened and close manually now. It has fallen on my arm and caused bruises multiple times. I fear it can fall on my head or my children's. I haven't taken it to get repaired as I'm sure it will be costly and money is very tight. I only had this vehicle for 4 years when this happened and it has low mileage. I have read about other Durangos having this same issue.

THE OFFICER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE HAD PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE ROTARY KNOB STYLE GEAR SELECTOR. THE OFFICER WAS GETTING HIS K9 PARTNER'S FOOD AND WATER READY IN HIS BACKYARD. ACCORDING TO THE OFFICER, AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. WHEN HE WENT TO INVESTIGATE THE NOISE, HE FOUND THAT THE SUV HAS DROVE THROUGH HIS GARAGE DOOR. THE OFFICER STATES THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR SHOWED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK.

Engine cut off while driving down the interstate, traffic was moderate and thankfully made it to the side of the road. After about 20 min, the engine started. Seemed like a lack of fuel. Replaced the fuel pump and it ran fine for about a week and then while fueling it at the gas station, it wouldn't start again. After about 20 min, it started. While dropping the fuel tank, I noticed the connector that is located to the rear of the fuel tank on the passenger side and the main wire for the fuel pump was melted in the connector. It was evident that there was significant heat on that pin and I am in the process of repairing the wiring as well as the connector. This is a known issue in previous models, obviously it is not a issue for Chrysler to fix it until someone is killed in an accident.,

When backing with trailer or and hitch usage the car will not allow the driver to turn off the parking assist “off” button its been a ongoing issue with many dodge vehicles and the dealer ships will say a update is needed and charge for it. How ever we dont know when its needed and get stuck in a parking lot tryna back up or in the middle of a street trying to back up a trailer. When you turn it off the button will turn it self back on and brake as if it is an emergency so your stuck with a trailer on the vehicle and cant park.

The vehicle has a rear parking assist function. Via a Uconnect (touchscreen) system, the function can be enabled or disabled. The Uconnect system allows the operator to select whether the function will provide an audible warning or brake automatically if an object behind the vehicle is detected by any of 4 sensors installed in the rear bumper. The function can also be enabled or disabled via a physical button below the Uconnect system. I purchased the vehicle new and have owned the vehicle for 3 years. I have towed boats many times. Until recently, I was able to successfully use the touchscreen or physical button to disable the function when backing up with a trailer connected. Now I cannot disable the function or braking via either method. It appears to turn off for about 1 second before turning back on. I've tested in various conditions such as park/neutral, with/without a trailer, etc. to no avail. I thought I would try resetting software in the rear parking assist controller, so I disconnected both batteries and removed the proper fuse, but that didn't fix the issue. That got me worried because the failsafe should be that if the control system goes bad, the function should be disabled. I believe this to be true, because sometimes you need to back up to avoid collisions with irresponsible drivers, etc. If you are towing a trailer, you wouldn't be able to back up if the system failed. I understand about failsafe design from working on safety-critical aircraft computers. I reviewed the users manual and information online, and found that if connected to a trailer or exceeding 7 mph in reverse, the function should disengage. However, the function has NEVER, in 3 years, disengaged when towing a trailer, and I am unable to exceed 7 mph when towing due to the automatic braking. I tested this again by plugging a trailer into both factory-installed electrical receptacles provided with the tow package. I could not disable it. Other vehicle owners have the same issue.

Just bought the vehicle two months ago and have had to replace multiple things on the vehicle. The first issue was the diming lights and passenger window rolling down while driving along with remote start not working got that fixed now the car wants to turn on when it feels like it. It could be working for two weeks straight then you go to turn the car on after just turning it off five minutes prior and it does not wanna work you mess with the wires, try to jumpstart the wires and unhook the passenger seat heat and adjuster then it starts..

I HAVE A 2017 DURANGO, THE REAR SHOCK ARE BAD ON IT, THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 26500 ON IT. DODGE CURRENTLY HAS 200+ OF THESE SHOCKS ON BACK ORDER. WITH THE SHOCKS BEING BAD IF I GO OVER A SMALL BUMP IT CAUSES THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE TO GET LOOSE AND YOU ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I'VE LOOKED AT SEVERAL DODGE DURANGO FORUMS AND THIS SEEM LIKE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THEM. I'VE CONTACTS DODGE ALL THEY TELL ME IS THEY ARE WORKING ON MAKING REPLACEMENT PARTS. I bought my car with 50,000 miles. I didn’t even have 55,000 and my car started have electrical issues with the speedometer, my dashboard started glitching with all the lights including an A with exclamation mark. I took it to the Dodge dealership in Huntsville and said they couldn’t do anything about it since the recall seemed to be repair but they couldn’t clear the code. My truck has had the same issue with the recall. My car was never repaired from the recall. My vehicle is dangerous to drive on the freeway as I will get this code a! And the speed will automatically drop. I really need help as this recall was never resolved on my car

I had just parked my vehicle in my drive and turned it off. I opened my door then sat back in my seat to stretch my back, sitting straight up with my head against the headrest, before getting out. As soon as I leaned my head against the headrest it, for lack of better terms, exploded into the back of my head. It hit me with such force I was not sure what had happened as there was nobody around me that could’ve cause it. Sure enough there was no accident to cause it. I have had a headache and back pain for a week due to it.

Lost power steering after I started vehicle after driving. It happens to remove power steering unavailable code after restarting vehicle several times and power steering returns. I believe it may be something with ABS as the ECU and EPS is all connected. If something is off then it goes into limp mode. ABS was resetted and worked fine and not needing to replace the entire electric power steering. All started when I had 88K miles. One time the steering wheel locked on me while I was driving over a bridge with snow and ice on ground.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated the engine overheated and fluids of different colors and consistencys leaked from the vehicle. The contact stated that the leaks were coming from the coolant reservoir due to engine overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a P0476 small evaporator leak and the hard line going to purge solenoid was cracked. The contact stated that the dealer replaced the oil filter housing system four times. The vehicle was taken to another dealer who performed a diagnostic test and stated that there was a crack in the cooling line. The contact stated the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with 2-star cases. The approximate failure mileage was 99,414.

On my 2017 Doge Durango RT the “Racetrack” light has failed and created a safety issue for my vehicle. The LED light on the hatch has failed from poor manufacturing and has allowed water it get into the light shorting out the whole taillight. This has not only made a running light not work while I’m driving, but has caused the license plate light and the rear backup camera to fail. This is an over 1000 dollar repair. I will replace it for the safety of my family and those who drive on the roads with me. I have seen many other dodge Durango of the same model years that have a similar problem. There is a large online community who report the same issue. I hope this issue has not caused an accident for anyone else.

With the electrical system, the vehicle's rear lighting allows for water intrusion and causing the lighting to short out. This issue costs between $1100-$2000 to fix and requires a whole new rear tail panel. For the visibility/wipers, when the driver attempts to clean the windshield using windshield wiper fluid the windshield wiper fluid line disconnects itself causing the driver to have to come to a stop and re-connect the line.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, the rear brake lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the rear brake light bulbs had failed due to water and condensation inside the rear taillight assembly housings. The light bulbs were replaced, and the failure was temporarily fixed; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the rear taillight assembly housings had been replaced on two previous occasions for the same failure. Additionally, the rear back-up camera malfunctioned and no image was displayed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 60,000. The contact stated that the rear brake lights were replaced for a second time but the problem still persists.

The sunroof spontaneously exploded and shattered all over while driving on the highway at approximately 65 miles an hour. Mother and child were in the vehicle. The sunroof was opened on "vent" position. The sunroof cover was also opened (cover inside the vehicle) Mother and child sustained minor physical injuries however, this could have been a major much bigger accident with many other vehicles on the road involved.

When driving on the freeway I went to accelerate the car then begin to accelerate by itself even when I was hitting the brakes it would not slow down. Finally after a few seconds it slowed down. About a week after that started feeling like the transmission was having issues. Now I cannot drive my car. And this happened about three times with the acceleration of the car doing that by itself.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle stalled while utilizing the AUTO STOP/START feature. The contact was able to pull over. The shift to park message was blinking and the AUTO STOP/START exclamation was displayed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the headlamp was inoperable. There was an abnormal knocking noise detected from the transmission. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer; Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (211-10 Jamaica Ave, Queens, NY 11428(844) 291-4802) who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer contacted the owner and informed him a specialist would be looking at the vehicle; however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 80.

BOTH SECOND ROW SEAT BELTS FAILED. THE DEALER COMMENT IS THAT BOTH RETRACTORS BROKEN. THE SEAT BELTS FAILED WITHIN 3 YEARS, BUT OUTSIDE THE MILEAGE RESTRICTION FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. THE VEHICLE IS PREDOMINANTLY FOR BUSINESS TRAVEL, WITH LIMITED SECOND ROW PASSENGERS, AND AVERAGING 25K MILES PER YEAR. A DODGE CASE WAS OPENED ON MY BEHALF, BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. THE PARTS ARE ROUGHLY $250, BUT LABOR TO INSTALL THEM IS SUBSTANTIALLY MORE, AS THE INTERIOR HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED. IT IS UNREASONABLE FOR SEAT BELTS TO FAIL WITH 75,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND UNDER 200 USES.

THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AND THE BACK TRACK LIGHT GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS TRUCK SINCE OCTOBER. THERE'S NO WAY I SHOULD BE HAVING THESE ISSUES. THERE IS DEFINITELY GOING ON WITH THIS TRUCK AND NOT SURE WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL. DRIVING CAR ON FREEWAY WHEN THE COMPUTER LOCKED UP SYSTEM OF AWD AND SENSORS. THE BACK TIRES WOULD NOT TURN AND CAR STARTED TO JERK AND SLOWED DOWN. THE DASH BOARD LIGHTED UP AND ALL SENSORS SAID OFF OFF OFF . THE MILEAGE SPEEDOMETER CHANGED TO KILOMETERS AND THE MAPPING SCREEN HAD THE CAR GOING IN A CIRCLE. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STIFF AND CARS WHERE PASSING ME BY. THE CAR MADE A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. I GOT SCARED TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. I SLOWLY GOT OUT OF TRAFFIC AND OFF THE FREEWAY TO PARK THE CAR. HAD THE TOW PERSON COME AND WE HARD TIME GETTING IT TO STAY IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO STAY IN THE CAR SO IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. SINCE THEN I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE DIFFICULTY SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE SOMETHING HAS CHANGED IN THE TIMING OF THE THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF AND WHEN I TURN IT OFF. I HAVE OCCASIONALLY STARTED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT I HAD NOT TURNED IT OFF, BUT BACK ON. THIS IS AN AGGRAVATION ALL BY ITSELF, BUT THE REASON FOR MY REAL COMPLAINT WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL I HOOKED UP MY TRAILER. I FOUND THAT I CANNOT TURN OFF OR DISABLE MY PARK ASSIST. WHEN THERE IS A NEAR OBJECT SUCH AS A TRAILER, WHEN I TRY TO BACK UP, THE BRAKES LOCK ON. I DISCOVERED THIS WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON A BLIND CORNER TRYING TO BACK INTO A DRIVEWAY. I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY SO I HAD TO GO A MILE DOWN THE ROAD IN ORDER TO FIND A PLACE THAT I COULD U-TURN. I THEN HAD TO DETACH AND MANUALLY PARK MY TRAILER. WENT TO HEAD HOME FROM VACATION AND STOPPED AT A STORE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. VEHICLE ENGINE SPUTTERED THEN CUT OFF. TRIED TO START VEHICLE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS TURNING OVER.HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED 2 1/2 HOURS TO OUR DEALERSHIP. ONCE IN DEALERSHIP FOUND TIPM TO BE DEFECTIVE WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO BREAK. 16 DAYS LATER THE WATER PUMP FAILED. AT 28,000 MILES 3 MAJOR ENGINE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NOT TO MENTION ALL THE OTHER FLAWS IN THIS VEHICLE. PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ALSO WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. VEHICLE IS STILL IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL (6980 MILES) HOME FROM WORK, I HAD THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SET. I WAS IN A STEADY LINE OF TRAFFIC AND CARS LINED UP BEHIND ME. THE TRUCK STARTED TO STEADILY DECREASE IN SPEED, THERE WERE NO OBJECTS IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR IN FRONT WAS AT LEAST 6 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, I THEN ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, MY BRAKES WERE NOT ACTIVE AS WELL. I PLACED MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO MOVE MY VEHICLE FROM THE ROAD. HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME MY STEERING HAD TIGHTENED AND I COULD NOT MOVE MY VEHICLE. I ENDED UP COASTING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL MY VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. NOTHING WAS WORKING ON MY TRUCK. I COULD NOT OPEN MY DOOR OR LET MY WINDOWS DOWN. IT WAS LIKE I WAS TRAPPED INSIDE. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO GET MY WINDOWS DOWN AFTER 3 OR MORE MINUTES. WHEN THE TOWING SERVICE PICKED MY VEHICLE UP, THE BACK WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL UP AND MY LIFT GATE OPENED BY ITSELF. WE GOT THE LIFT GATE BACK DOWN MANUALLY. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IF YOU PLACED YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE, PUSHED THE START BUTTON IT JUST MADE A CLICKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL BE LOOKED AT TOMORROW, 9/26/17. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A HORRIBLE, FATAL ACCIDENT. SOME TYPE OF INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE INTO THIS MATTER. THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IDLE. THE THIRD INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN A MAIN THOROUGHFARE. THE VEHICLE STARTED "BEEPING" WITH A RED LED FLASHING IN THE DASH. THE DASHBOARD SCREEN WAS ALERTING ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. ONCE IN PARK, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. I HAVE VIDEO SHOWING THE INDICATIONS IF SOMEONE NEEDS TO REACH OUT TO ME.
