ICCU failure at 16k miles. The ICCU was replaced at the dealership on January, 29th of this year, so it is not available for inspection. The failure tripped a breaker at my home while it was charging possibly indicating a short circuit. The short circuit could have potentioally overheated and caught fire in my home. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they confirmed it was the ICCU and replaced it under warranty. I have a copy of the invoice received after the replacement was installed. I do not know what they did with the old ICCU after it was placed. There was no indication of pending failure that I noticed prior to this incident occuring.

Electrical propulsion failure resulting in 3 tow-ins. Vehicle goes into limp mode, slows to 20 mph on highway and then stops after about 2 miles. The issue appears related to the ICCU, fuse and 12V battery failures. History includes 6 attached ICCU related Repairs. #1 ICCU updated under recall SC271 at 31,678 miles. #2 Then the ICCU was replaced under recall SC302 at 45,059 miles. #3 Then the ICCU was replaced along with fuse and 12V battery after on road failure and tow in at 52,296 miles. #4 Then the ICCU was updated under recall SC327. #5 Then the ICCU, fuse and 12V battery was replaced at 69,849 miles under recall SC327 after another on road failure and tow in. #6 Then there was a ICCU overheat and charging fault related to a bad ICCU coolant reservoir cap after a charging failure and tow in at 70,957 miles.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (Electrical System) and the vehicle was repaired at the local dealer. The contact stated that four months later while driving 75 MPH, there was a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The message to "Check Electrical System" was displayed, and the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated to approximately 45 MPH. The contact continued driving and the message to "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply" was displayed. The vehicle decelerated to 5 MPH and failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected. All the doors were unlocked, and the vehicle then stalled. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) assembly and fuse needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,309.

The car has 41,000 miles and has experienced the second failure of the ICCU, so it will have a third unit in 3 years. The noteworthy issue is the risk associated with these failures. The unit failed on the freeway, and power was reduced to 20% (estimate), which put me and others in danger. This is apparently a known and significant issue with KIA. As a consumer, I am extremely concerned it will experience a 3rd failure, which could include immediate risk to self and passengers. How is this acceptable? Thanks for providing the forum to discuss.

ICCU failed after 49,059 miles. Levels 1&2 charging do not work. I must use DCFC to charge the car.

The ICCU failed which was part of the recall. Kia is unwilling to honor repairs beyond the 100,000 mile warranty which is unacceptable because there is still no resolution and it is subject to potential future failure. I need an extended warranty.

ICCU issue. Car showed zero percent battery after charging all night. No warning lights no errors
Mar 13, 2026
While driving in traffic I heard a pop, then the "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning came on the dashboard. After a minute or so the dash warning changed to "Stop Vehicle" and the car limped home but at a lower speed. This matched the description I had seen of ICCU failures on Kia and Hyundai EVs. Dealer confirmed this was in fact the issue, and I had it replaced under warranty. This was a safety issue for me and my family because when it failed I was driving in traffic on a four-lane road at night, in <40-degree weather, and it requires a tow to the dealership for repair. Although I now have a new ICCU, I am also now concerned that it might happen again. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance or manufacturer that I'm aware of.

Perhaps 1 year into owning this car the apple carplay connection started going in and out-- it takes perhaps 10 to 15 seconds for it to start working again. I've tried different phones and cords. This issue is getting worse, sometimes 6 times in a 20 minute drive. Now it goes out very frequently (though it is rare in the mornings for some reason). I have brought the car into a dealership and they cannot find any issue with the car. At the recommendation of the dealership I switched the cord to an official apple cord, but when I did this the connection would be lost and I'd have to reach down, disconnect the cord, and reconnect it to get the screen to come back on-- I have since switched back to an Anker cord. There have been many drivers with the same EV6 reporting this issue in Kia FB groups. Now that the car is about 4 years old, it happens very frequently (one time 6 times in a 10 minute span). The safety issue comes in as one, some people may be reaching to disconnect and reconnect their cord while driving, which can be a distraction and may lead to increase in accidents, two, if someone is on a call they may disconnect the cord and switch to speaker, which again is a distraction, and three, I have also been using the navigation system through the carplay, and when the map goes out my turn is going up it can cause me to hesitate on whether to turn or not (and perhaps if the screen comes on at the last minute, make a quick turn, which can increase risk of collision).

I was unable to charge this electric vehicle which I normally do almost once or twice a week using my home level 2 charger. It also did not speak the message that "your vehicle is being charged" which it normally does when I charge the vehicle. I tried multiple times. Then I got into the vehicle and saw that it was giving me the following error messages (pics included below) upon trying to start it. 1. "Check Electric Vehicle System" 2. "Battery Discharge Warning - Please use the vehicle after starting the vehicle". However the vehicle would not start and then it went went totally dead. Kia was kind enough to tow it under warranty to Century Kia in Tampa, FL as well as now they are trying to identify the issue. Kia was also kind enough to provide me a rental via Century Kia which I appreciate.

I completed recall in March of 2025 for the ICCU, it failed driving down a busy road in January 2026. Kia did complete the repairs, but only warranties for 12k miles. It seems from forums I am in that this is a common problem. It also caused me to be without transportation for several weeks

Car lost all power and came to a stop while backing out of a driveway on a residential street. It would not respond to any attempts to start it. None of assessories worked. It had to be towed to the dealership. The dealer said the 12v battery was at fault and had to be ordered from Kia. I was told the ICCU unit had failed and drained the 12v battery. It waited for the part from Kia. Then the ICCU needed to be replaced. This was in 2024. The part was not examined. There were no warning signs or symptoms. Had I been in highway traffic my life would have been in danger

The ICCU system in my 2022 Kia EV6 failed for the SECOND time on the highway. The car threw an error telling me to "Check the electrical system" and "Pull over safely immediately" or something similar. Had I not made it to the shoulder, I would have been completely stranded in the middle of the highway, creating an incredibly dangerous situation. This is the second time this has happened with my EV6 in less than 50,000 miles on this car. I had to call a tow truck. I confirmed with the Kia dealership the ICCU system had randomly failed and was required to be replaced *AGAIN*. My wife was in the car with me and was freaked out. She doesn't feel safe in it because there's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. KIA says it is a known issue, and confirmed it was the second time this has happened to my car. No symptoms prior to it happening. We were just driving and then suddenly the car lost power and the warning displayed on the dash.

This electric vehicle failed to charge at level 2 charger at home. It charged at level 3 fast chargers however it registered a full charge at 125 miles and the level of charge in % and miles remaining fluctuated with sudden shifts. There were no warning lights or other signs of problems. I took it to the dealership who wanted me to keep driving and wait a week for an appointment. I knew that this could indicate an ICCU failure for the second time and insisted. Also asked that charging port and 12v be tested It was the second ICCU failure which can lead to a dead stop without warning in traffic. This is the second failure in this car.

Bought this car in 2022 and had no problems until 1/2/26. Car was charging at home and suddenly stopped. Got a check electrical system warning light. Took it to the dealer to get checked out and the ICCU needs to be replaced. Despite everything online saying that it is covered on the 10 year/100,000 EV warranty, they are denying that it is covered under warranty. They say it is covered by the basic 60,000 mile warranty which I am a whopping 8,000. There has been multiple recalls on the ICCU, all software because Kia can't be bothered fixing their bad designs. Getting rid of this junk car and never buying a Kia again as I will not trust my life and safety with such a horrible company that doesn't care one bit about it's customers.

While driving, the car all of a sudden lost power - forcing me to pull over. If this were to happen while on the freeway, a crash would have been imminent. This is a known issue with kia/Hyundai EV's where the ICCU fails and causes the vehicle to lose power suddenly.

When attempting to level one charge the vehicle at home, the car returned a failure to charge error and would not charge. This was attempted several times using different outlets and the same error occurred. The car was brought to Gettel Kia in Bradenton Florida. The dealership confirmed that the ICCU had failed,. They did not have the part and apparently it is on backorder. The repair is being covered under warranty, however, it is not being considered a recall, despite many other Kia EV6s having ICCU failures. The ICCU failures are extensive and need to be further investigated by NHSTA and a full recall for all Kia EV6s should be ordered.

Integrated charging control unit (ICCU) failed. While my failure prevents ac charging, the unit is could also fail causing the 12v battery not to charge and the car to power down while driving on the highway. There were no indication of part failure.

I was driving and experience a loss in power and got the Check Electrical Vehicle System error message. As I was trying to get to safe location to stop, I got the Power Limited warning message and lost even more power then got the Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply warning. I did not have any warning lights prior to this happening. I had my car towed to a KIA dealership for inspection and am waiting for their findings. It was at the KIA dealership 12/22/2025 for the latest safety recall update.

On 01/19/2025, after charging my vehicle to 100% using a Level 2 Charger, while driving, my vehicle displayed several warning notifications on the driver display, including "12 Volt Battery Low. Stop safely", "Stop vehicle and check power supply" and "Check electric vehicle system", shortly after I heard and felt a loud thump/pop. I returned home and powered the vehicle off. I and was able to drive the vehicle to the local Kia dealer the next day, less than 1 mile away. The vehicle had reduced power and multiple warnings advising to slow or stop the vehicle. On 01/20/2025, Geweke Kia advised the ICCU had failed and thet it was placed on order, with no ETA for the part.

After charging vehicle using L2 charger, (max 7kw) vehicle threw two error messages on screen. 1) “check electrical system” & 2) “stop vehicle and check power supply” Using an OBDII reader, the car provided error code P1A9096. I also noticed the car stopped charging the 12V battery as the 12V state of charge was down to 22%. I towed it to the dealer and they are currently working on diagnosing the issue.

Issue with the car, not charging it was the ICcU module
Jan 22, 2024
I continually have issues with the car not charging. I have taken it to the dealership and they "update the software" but I continue to have issues where my car only charges 10-15% at a time and continues to give me an alert "charge interrupted" but it does not tell me WHY the charge has been interrupted. I will set it to charge overnight but then wake up ready to go to work and my car only has 20% charge and I can't make my commute. I've had the same problem at public chargers. However, my partner has an electric Ford Mustang and his car has had no problems charging at home. I would say for the first 9 months of ownership this was not a problem with my EV6 it only began in the last 3-4 months but it happens almost every time I plug in.
Sep 14, 2023
During Level 2, 48 amp charging the car continually stops and starts charging roughly every five minutes. After contacting the charging maker, their diagnostic showed nothing wrong with the charger or incoming power, and that the car was stopping the charge. My Kia dealer states it is a problem with the onboard charger. However, Kia support doesn’t seem to acknowledge it. I have seen multiple reports of this is happening including a potential lawsuit, so I’m reporting this as an issue as well.

This make/model has a known ICCU issue. Ours went out just after warranty expired and the cost is 4,000. The EU and some Asian countries have extended the warranty of this fault due to how prevalent it is.

While driving the vehicle a short distance, I heard a loud pop from the back seat. The car immediately warned of an electrical system failure. The issue and symptoms are consistent with ICCU module failures, reported across the kia/hyundai egmp platform. My safety was put risk, because I was stopped in heavy traffic when this happened and could have been stranded far from home with no ability to drive the vehicle more than a couple of miles at most. The warnings started immediately after the pop I heard.

ICCU unit lost power and the car was unable to drive. Luckily I was parked when it happened but if I had been driving it would have been very dangerous. The part was replaced under warranty but they said it could happen again which really scares me.
Mar 02, 2026
The ICCU failed after having the safety recall done on it. The car went into warning mode and I luckily had just enough time to pull it into a parking lot to get towed. another few minutes I would have been stuck on a road with no where to pull off. The dealer did replace the ICCU and said that they were familiar with the part blowing randomly on people and that Kia is aware but not making good fixes by putting in the same defective replacement units
Jan 14, 2026
The ICCU failed causing the vehicle to shut down in the middle of the road with no warning at all. Shutting down in the middle of the road with no warning is a major safety issue. Kia is aware of this fault with the EV6 and all other EGMP platform vehicles, and has made no effort to fix the issue. They just replace the faulty ICCU with another faulty ICCU and hope it doesn't fail before the warranty runs out. They are putting lives at risk, and all EGMP vehicles are unfit for purpose. Kia has the vehicle, has confirmed they will "repair" it under warranty. There is no timeframe for the "repair" and the repair doesn't fix the issue, it just puts the vehicle back on the road in the same unsafe condition in which it is likely to shut down in the middle of the road again.

Incident occured october 17, 2024. Was driving approximately 30mph on a local road when lights flashed to "check electric vehicle system". Was speed restricted to 25mph (on 45mph road) and was able to make it back home approximately 1 mile away. Car completely shut down in my street prior to making it to my driveway. It needed to be towed to the nearest dealership. No lights in dash working and flickering. Prior to this failure over the preceding several months there were errors where I would plug the car into Level 2 charging at home (9.6kWh) and the car would stop charging with a hot charging port approximately every 1 hour. I would unplug and replug in again. Charging would work. Level 3 was working just fine without problem. After going to the dealership it was deemed that the ICCU component needed to be replaced. After replacing car worked well and no charging issues occured.

Vehicle alerted Electric Vehicle System problem on the dashboard. Dealer determined the ICCU and a fuse needs to be replaced again. Dealer has declined to replace the ICCU under the current recall stating it was already replaced 8 months prior. Vehicle is not usable in current condition due to a faulty ICCU.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked on a hill, it rolled and crashed into a handicapped sign. The forward collision sensor became inoperable. While at the charging station utilizing the radio, the battery and collision warning indicator lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where they were unable to identify the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no additional assistance. While driving, an unknown vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle and a quarter panel. There was no reported injuries, fire, or police report. The vehicle was taken to another dealer (Kia of Irvine 45 Oldfield, Irvine, CA 92618,) where the vehicle failed to start and it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

I am reporting a recurring safety and reliability issue with my 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle currently has approximately 63,100 miles. The vehicle repeatedly displays a “Check Electric Vehicle System” warning message. This problem has occurred three separate times. On at least two occasions, the vehicle became undriveable and required towing. The failure appears to affect the vehicle’s electric powertrain or control systems. The vehicle is currently being taken again to the dealership (Lou Sobh Kia in Cumming, Georgia) for diagnosis of the same issue. This will be the third service visit for this recurring failure. Because this issue can cause the vehicle to become unexpectedly inoperable, I am concerned about the safety implications and believe it may indicate a broader defect affecting Kia EV6 vehicles. Dec 20, 2025
I am reporting a failure of the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) in my 2022 Kia EV6. The vehicle became inoperable within weeks of purchase and has remained at a Kia dealership for over six weeks. The failure caused the vehicle to suddenly lose power and become undriveable, which is a serious safety concern. This issue appears to be widespread among EV6 owners. Despite the issue being covered under warranty, Kia has not provided an acceptable resolution. I believe this failure presents a risk of sudden vehicle disablement and should be investigated for safety-related recall potential.

While driving at speed, I heard a pop noise from the car. A few seconds later, I received notification to check vehicle electric system. The vehicle slowed down despite my increasing throttle input. While driving, EV vehicle suddenly lost most of its power. Normal driving on 45 mph street until came to stop light. Would not accelerate over 28 mph upon light changing to green. 12v battery warning light came on.
Mar 09, 2024
I was traveling on a neighborhood arterial road, when I heard a load thunk that seemed to come from beneath the rear seat. Moments later, I got a "Check electric vehicle system" warning, followed by "Stop vehicle and check power supply" in the dashboard. After another moment, the power was reduced to a maximum of 25 mph. I turned on the hazard lights because I was no longer able to match the flow of traffic (45 mph). No accident occurred. I was able to limp the car home on slower side streets. At home, I eventually got a "12v battery voltage low" message and the car was unable to move. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. The dealer service folks diagnosed the problem as a failed integrated charging control unit (ICCU). This same problem has been reported by others in the Kia EV forums. Kia Consumer Affairs says 87 of those parts are on backorder in the US with no ETA from Korea. Apparently, the part needs to be manufactured; they don't have them available in a warehouse.

STRUCTURE

Liftgate/Back Hatch consistently immediately automatically closes after opening, and has hit both drivers on the head before able to move out of the way. More detail: to open the back, one pushes a button, the rear hatch beeps, and then it automatically opens. During this, the user often leans inside once the opening is open enough. HOWEVER, recently when the door reaches its apex, it beeps again and immediately automatically starts closing, oftentimes hitting people on the head (thus, a safety issue, and it HURTS). Sometimes one has to re-open the door 3 or more times before it will stay open. Have contacted dealer, and the dealer literally said "the manual says sometimes it won't work when it's cold out." So it's a safety issue (since it has hurt two drivers) but Kia refuses to do anything about it.

The sunroof glass exploded on a hot day while my wife and I were in the car traveling 55 mph with the air-conditioning on. The remaining glass edges were flared up and outward. The sunroof glass was fully closed and the cloth sun shade covered the glass. It was either improperly installed or the materials could not withstand the heat. Nothing impacted the glass. The glass could have cut & injured us badly or blinded us, causing an accident with another vehicle or property. I felt this was a manufacturer's defect, but Kia denied us a warranty repair. I have pictures of the large hole in the middle of the glass. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was available for inspection. My insurance was notified. There was no warning or symptoms of this problem.

I received my car with tailgate misaligned, it could not be adjusted. There are some more out there like mine. I feel this is a safety problem that the area of the body where the hinges attach is not stiff or strong enough to open/close the heavy unbalanced tailgate when the car is not completely level causing damage to the area of the body part of the tailgate and tailgate safety switch not allowing the tailgate to close. This is a serious structural defect that Kia America is ignoring. My dealer took it to the body shop they use who tried 7 different adjustments that did not fix mine but said can be fixed by body work. Kia is just ignoring this as I feel if the truth comes out they will be forced to recall the EV6 and they have no solution. I have written a certified letter to the CEO of Kia America and was received by front desk/mailroom and I have not received a response or call. I have been in contact to Kia customer service and honestly they have been of no assistance. I am sending you the important videos of an EV6 that the tailgate is attempting to open/close when car is not on an even surface. This is a serious is, mine is cosmetic as it came that way from the factory but I feel for the same reason, maybe car, tailgate or assemblers were not completely level during tailgate installation or maybe car was moved on assembly line with tailgate open causing the misalignment on mine and some others. I have been in contact with numerous owners on the forums, social media, etc. I have sent information to news outlets that do investigations. These are puctures of the damage caused when car was not level. Videos, could not load under photos: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MHT3Mtz_3Xh7z6i0IrRPJG7UKp8k0aCb/view https://drive.google.com/file/d/1prrLoQiFIZLWdIbDbuynrG-Sj5SCZkvM/view

There is a structural issue where the hinges from the tailgate attaches to the body. I believe my tailgate alignment issue happened during assembly and has happened to others. More important if the tailgate is opened when car is not completely level when try to close the tailgate shifts and reopens since it cannot close as designed. I have informed Kia America in Irvine, Ca with a letter to the CEO over 3 weeks ago but no response. I followed up with a certified letter that was received by them but again no response. This is a safety structural problem that needs to be investigated. I have also contacted Kia consumer affairs and keep getting stalled. I have trouble loading the videos but have photos, the red car is mine, the others are also attached.

SERVICE BRAKES
4 complaints
Brake lights do not illuminate when using the Regenerative Braking System in the Kia EV6. The vehicle is fitted with a 'one-pedal-driving' system that allows the vehicle to slow down and stop without actuation of the brake pedal. When using this system, the vehicle can decelerate rapidly and to a complete stop, however the brake lights do not illuminate unless the drivers foot is completely removed from the accelerator pedal. Doing this causes rapid deceleration beyond what would be considered normal for a driver approaching a turn or any other scenario where a planned stop will occur. Because the vehicle does not illuminate the brake lights during normal deceleration when using the one-pedal-driving feature of the regenerative braking system this significantly increases the risk of a rear end collision. The vehicle has been found to be operating normally and matches the behavior of other EV6 models. Although I have not yet been involved in a collision, I have been advised by other drivers that my brake lights are not working, and have had multiple 'close-calls' where drivers behind me have been unable to correctly determine that my vehicle is decelerating and have subsequently caused them to brake erratically or harshly putting myself and others at risk.

While driving with the hatch open, while carrying objects to long to place in car, (The drive was less than one mile and yes I had a red flag on my kayaks) I was driving in what is called 1Pedal driving. When coming to a stop light unbeknownst to me the emergency brakes (Parking brake) automatically comes on. I was unable to continue in drive until manually unlocking parking brake, but it took me a minute to figure out what was the issue. During this time I was blocking traffic till I figured the work around. This undoubtedly a software glitch by kia's programmers. To ensure that this was not a singular incident, I took the car on a quiet street to replicate this by keeping the hatch slightly ajar while coming to a standard stop like a stop sign as if I had stopped in traffic as well as stopping as if I was in traffic.. I attempted this over a dozen times. Each time in the 1Pedal mode the emergency brakes came on and wouldn't disengage till manually doing so. I have not tried to replicate this other regenerative braking modes other than 1Pedal. But when I get back to an area where traffic is not an issue I will see if it is an issue with those modes as well. I notified the service department of this matter when I Brought in the car in for software update for a safety recall. The service department did not do anything to see if there was a fix other than take a written statement that I left with them. This becomes a safety issue for the following reasons. 1. First, there is no mentioned in the Kia EV6 bible on this issue and this will take place, so there is no warning to the driver that this going to happen. 2. When coming to a stop and car does not move a nervous or inexperience driver may panic or not no what to do to remedy the situation, thinking the car is dead. And thus leaving a car obstructing the flow of regular as well emergency vehicular. 3. Driver behind the stalled vehicle may plow into the rear end of the stalled vehicle.

The defogger system. The car window’s suddenly fog up while driving and not adjusting the system. Theres no warning the windows start fogging up. I adjust to just front defrost on high and it takes 10 to 15 seconds to clear the windows good enough to see clearly . I took it to the dealership and was told nothing was detected. Mechanic told me he turned it up to 85, my cars high setting is 82, and tested the air temperature stating it was up to 105°. This just started after the latest recall was completed by the dealership. I’ve attached pictures of the windows fogged up while the system was on auto. This had happened 3 times since the first incident with the system off auto as well.

While driving at night under raining conditions with the auto highbeam enable the Kia’s HUD will get so bright at times that will white out the drivers view making nearly impossible to see. Kia’s is refusing the fix the issue because they can’t replicated even with a video I provided and I even found another persons video on YouTube, as well as several owners on a forum complaining about it.

I live in the Northern Latitudes in Washington state, on my drive this morning with temps in the low 40's and high humidity the heating/ventilation system just stopped working. My windshield immediately fogged up completely and I had near zero visibility. I slowed down and thankfully had a cloth nearby and used that to wipe the windshield clear while looking for a place to pull over. After changing every conceivable setting to no avail I limped home with my cloth at hand. This is a serious safety problem that could easily lead to a serious accident. I've contacted the Kia dealer for assistance and they insist there are no known issues or bulletins on this problem. I checked various user forums for the vehicle and it appears others are having similar if not identical issues.

When heavy regenerative braking is used, the car decelerates very quickly. Despite this, the brake lights do not turn on. This is very dangerous as the regenerative braking can be used to completely stop the vehicle. People driving behind me need to be aware that I am coming to a stop and are not currently warned. Technology Connections just released a very detailed video on the Ioniq 5 which uses the same drivetrain as the EV6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0YW7x9U5TQ

The headlights on the 2022 Kia EV6 do not provide enough illumination for proper night driving. They are full and barely shine enough for 10 feet out from vehicle. This causes concern for object avoidance and proper identification from oncoming traffic and pedestrians. Kia made adjustments to later year 2022 model years, European models get Matrix lights, and all 2023 model years. IIHS rated 2022 model year headlights as “Poor”.
Feb 05, 2023
No distinct incident. The headlights on this car are very poor. My front visibility is extremely limited, especially to the right, since I got this vehicle in August 2022. I have had some narrow misses with pedestrians I couldn't see. These are the worst headlights of any car I've owned since 1970. I have noted that the IHSS rates these headlights as "poor". This should be unacceptable in this date and age. I would like you to require a recall these headlights with those on the newer models which hae achieved a "good" rating from the IHSS. I have requested this from Kia, but haven't gotten a reply. I brought this vehicle to a dealer yesterday. They told me the headlights were adjusted correctly, and that I'd should use high beams most of the time.

This has happened multiple times: driving along, no cars in front of me or along the side. FCW suddenly appears along with emergency braking kicking in. I can be doing 35 mph or 60 mph, doesn't matter what speed. Scares the heck out of me, and creates a safety issue as vehicles behind run the risk of rear-ending me. The only way to clear the FCW is to come to a complete stop and shift between P and go. For some reason, it also sets off one of my blind spot warnings, lighting up in the sideview mirror on either driver or passenger side. I've mentioned this to dealer, they say there are no codes in the computer, and they don't seem to have a way to diagnose what the problem is (software? bad sensor or camera? ...) other than keeping the car for days and trying to recreate the problem. NOTE: date below is last time it happened...its happened at least 15 times in the past 6 months.

I am reporting a recurring safety defect. While driving the vehicle the Integrated Charging Control unit (ICCU) failed and caused the vehicle to lose power and stop in the road. I feel strongly that this ICCU issue and subsequent failure should be made into a safety recall. Kia / Hyundai / Genesis all share the same e-gmp platform and utilize an ICCU that fails and leaves motorists in unsafe situations. The ICCU should be recalled and replaced with a unit that works. The current recall remedies are only software updates, and are insufficient to prevent this safety issue and hardware defect, posing ongoing safety risk to drivers and other motorists. The ICCU should be a permanent fix, rather than just software patches that do not fix the issue. My vehicle had all software patches and was up to date, yet those were not sufficient to prevent this hardware defect and safety situation.

The AC charging for this car stopped working around [XXX]. After 3 trips to the dealership for repair I brought it back a 4th time and because the dealership was unable to repair it they gave me a loaner to use while they tried to figure out the problem. During this time they removed the entire battery from the car, dropped the suspension, experienced the car not being able to go into gear (reverse or drive), not hold a charge etc. The car has been 100% inoperable since [XXX]. Today, 01/27/26 the dealership phoned to let me know that a regional Kia technician came by and realized there was just one screw that needed to be tightened and now the car works perfectly and I can come pick up my car and bring the loaner back. There exists a serious manufacturing defect in that the brake lights do not turn on when the car is used in one-pedal drive mode and even a rapid deceleration occurs due to regenerative braking. The brake light does not activate in a way that would signal to other drivers that the vehicle is stopping or slowing down, while using higher regenerative braking. The ipedal mode can have a significant amount of deceleration and not activate the brake light, even coming to a full stop and not activating the light, if the driver's foot is not completely off the pedal. I have been told by other drivers that my brake lights were out when I expected that they were working. Testing this with a odb2 device and another driver following behind me confirmed that the Kia EV6 does not activate brake lights when it should. Additionally, there is a video on youtube titled "Electric cars prove we need to rethink brake lights", demonstrating this on a similar vehicle, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0YW7x9U5TQ There is no indication in the vehicle that the brake lights are not functioning as a driver would expect. The lights do work when using the brake pedal and are not normally "malfunctioning". The nearest dealer has confirmed that the driver needs to take their foot off of the accelerator to actuate the brake lights. In my opinion, the vehicle should be recalled to apply a fix that signals braking and intent to slow down that is consistent with the deceleration of the vehicle.

Kia Connect sent “Charge Interrupted” alert during a session that reached 99%. Multiple prior recalls/attempts failed to resolve (Sep 2023 TSB ELE291 BMS, Jun 2024 SC271 ICCU SW, Jan 2025 SC273 VCU SW, May 2025 SA5999 limp-home logic, Sep 2025 dead 12V stranding). Most vehicles with ABS experience what I call “ABS shudder/jutter” when applying brakes across a road seam where the road surface is uneven or a rut in the road. In this particular case while applying the brakes across a long rut in the road, the “ABS shudder/jutter” was much worse. NOT SPEEDING and having plenty of distance to stop. With brake pedal to the floor several times, the vehicle continued to move forward. The last few feet before colliding with a pickup truck, although the road was completely dry, the vehicle was driving forward yet sliding forward slowly. Felt no different than being on ice. Collision aversion system did nothing to help avoid. There is also only electronic parking brake and not an emergency brake to pull a handle on to assist in stopping. Dealership wasn’t able to find anything simply by driving around and slamming on the brakes and not finding any error codes. Regional technician currently scheduled to be here the 27th of Jan. Several people online have expressed similar concerns, just haven’t hit anything. I feel that the issue lies with the ABS system specifically braking over uneven road seams or ruts in the road and my experience is being discounted.

My 2022 Kia EV6 developed a serious electrical/MCU malfunction on 10/19/2025 at approximately 64,300 miles. While driving, the vehicle began to stutter during acceleration, all driver-assistance and safety systems disabled (LKAS, collision avoidance, lane keeping), and the vehicle could not accelerate normally (topping out around ~60 mph when fully pressing the pedal). The Kia Connect app displayed fault codes MCU P0A4100 and LKAS C164286. The malfunction recurred immediately after a dealer visit on 10/20/2025. The vehicle has since been inspected by Huffines Kia in Corinth, Texas, but no confirmed diagnosis has been provided, nor have they notified me of dropping/reconnecting the HV battery. On 11/18/2025, a new fault code appeared: MCU P0C1700. This failure affects the high-voltage electronics/MCU and causes sudden loss of acceleration capability and complete disabling of active safety systems while the vehicle is in motion, placing me and other drivers at risk. The issue is reproducible, continues to occur, and the vehicle remains at the dealership. I am requesting NHTSA review of this electrical/MCU malfunction as a safety-related defect.

The air bag (SRS) floor wire harness running directly under the moving front driver and passenger seats are assembled with no shielding or protection. So they are subject to being severed or damaged, and the wires are at risk of corrosion if exposed to moisture or road salt. This is clearly a preventable safety issue. However, Kia and Hyundai are not providing warranty coverage. And replacement of a damaged harness is ~$9,300+ because the harness apparently routs behind the dashboard and to the engine compartment.

Prior to midnight on 9/25/2025 I stopped at a Sheetz in Stephen"s City , Va to charge my 2022 Kia EV6. Upon pulling into the charging area I discovered construction fencing around the area with the chargers removed. I then drove to the other side of the store and parked next to the building to take advantage of the lighting as I scanned my phone app for alternative chargers in the area. SUDDENLY, within the blink of an eye, my car lunged forward at MAXIMUM speed. It came to a sudden stop , prior to hitting the glass and brick wall of the building. I was stunned. My first reaction was to try to go into reverse to back away from the building and then I noticed people coming toward me. I rolled the window down and heard them ask if I was ok , if I needed help calling 911, and then they began to insist that I climb down out of the car as they feared it would catch on fire. I did not understand what they meant initially, until I realized I was LOOKING DOWN at them. With assistance, I got out of my car and realized it was impaled upon the metal barrier post located in the middle , front of the parking space. The local sheriff dept responded and after putting me through all the DUI tests/exercises realized that I , indeed , was sober and not responsible for the incident. The deputy called Clem's Garage/Towing who arrived 30-45 min latter with a standard tow truck - I tried to explain that tugging at my car from the rear would not release it from the pole ( the rear of the car pointed toward the pavement while the front pointed toward the sky) and that continuing to tug would only do more damage (I wanted to prevent my car further damage). He eventually called another company who arrived with a large crane-like vehicle that lifted my car off the pole. The top portion of the pole was missing and apparently stuck in my car . My car was then towed to Clem's holding yard.

My 2022 Kia EV6 has repeatedly shut off while parked and while in motion, placing myself, my [XXX] child, and other drivers at serious risk. The vehicle’s Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed and was replaced, but the replacement ICCU also malfunctioned. This second failure caused a near-collision involving three vehicles. A Ford F-150 had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting me. The most recent incident occurred while dropping off my son, when the vehicle lost all power in traffic. Kia later confirmed that they could not guarantee this issue would not happen again. This statement came after I notified them of the near-accident and the ongoing shutdowns. Despite this, Kia has refused to buy back the vehicle or provide a safe resolution. The vehicle has been out of service for over 30 cumulative days and has undergone two ICCU replacements and one 12V battery replacement. Kia issued a recall notice for the ICCU in December 2024, but the issue persisted even after recall servicing. The defect has been inspected and confirmed by Kia dealerships, and all repair documentation is available. There were no warning lights or alerts before shutdowns. I was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a pedestrian while driving my Kia EV6. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist : The FCA system appears to have completely failed. It did not detect the pedestrian, did not provide any audible or visual warnings, and did not initiate automatic emergency braking prior to the collision. Airbag System: The system failed to deploy despite a severe head-on collision. Regarding availability for inspection: The car was impounded by the SDPD and was inspected by both the police and State Farm before being sold to SF after being rendered a total loss. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My Safety: The failure of the airbags to deploy put me at significant risk of serious injury or death in the severe head-on collision. The Safety of Others: While the primary consequence of the FCA failure was the tragic impact with the pedestrian, the malfunction of a safety system designed to prevent or mitigate collisions inherently puts all potential road users at risk. Had the FCA functioned correctly, the collision might have been avoided entirely or the impact speed significantly reduced, potentially altering the outcome for the pedestrian. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No not to my knowledge. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? As mentioned above, the car was impounded by the SDPD and was fully inspected by both the police and State Farm. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None.

While driving my car on March 7th, 2024 around 2:30pm an error message popped up "Stop vehicle and check power supply" and speed of the car was noticeably limited. Thankfully I was able to pull to side of the road and called road side assistance as car was undrivable, the 12 volt battery was completely dead. If this happened in a freeway this could be a risk if we are not able to stop at a safe location. Towing services was able to tow my car to the dealership about 15 minutes away, upon unloading vehicle onto lot, taking an Uber home as no loaners are available, asked the next day about getting car into diagnosis and was told that it would take 2 weeks to get in to be looked at, and now it sits until they are able to diagnose a known problem, even the sales manager at this dealership has had same issue on 3 different EV6's. He assured me they know what to look for when it comes to the issue. After doing some research this issue, it is a well known issue with Hyundai/Kia cars and it looks like the ICCU module needs to be replaced. And Hyundai/Kia EVs and was supposedly addressed in a recall done in late September of last year, yet I have gone back and made a complaint with Kia regarding this issue, but in their eyes it was fixed in the recall. EXTERIOR LIGHTING,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
While driving the vehicle with the main propulsion battery charged to 85%, a battery failure warning light lit at the time the vehicle lost power, slowed down to a stop and lost all lighting. The fault was a failure of the 12 VDC auxiliary power system which resulted in a loss of vehicle speed, dash board buttons to not function, and vehicle controls including lights to be lost. The vehicle was unable to be locked. The vehicle lost power and speed in a remote location causing me to pull off of the road. The vehicle lost all lighting preventing me from warning other drivers of the hazard situation. The car was towed to the nearest Kia Dealership who has confirmed that the 12 VDC power system was de-energized, caused by a dead 12 VDC battery and failed charging module (Kia Part Number 36400-1XFA0) and is currently awaiting replacement under warranted repair when the parts become available.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated that on various occasions while coming to a stop at a stop signal, a loud crunching sound was heard underneath the vehicle. The brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle jerked forward. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred and caused the vehicle to lunge forward into oncoming traffic, causing another vehicle to almost crash into the driver's side. The vehicle was then taken back to the dealer and remained in dealer possession awaiting a further diagnostic test and repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,215.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated while stopped for a traffic signal, and with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle lunged forward while the traffic signal was still "red." The contact stated she did not notice any warning lights or chimes. The contact stated she crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front. The contact stated that her front grill, lights, and bumper were all damaged. The contact stated that the radiator was damaged and coolant had pooled under her vehicle. The contact stated that the rear end lift gate and rear bumper of the other vehicle had sustained heavy denting and crush damage. None of the drivers were injured, only the contact's vehicle was towed due to the damaged radiator. The contact stated that she went to a chiropractor's office a day after the accident for neck pain, headache, and upper back pain. The police were on the scene and filed a report. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where it was still being diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
1 complaint
I had driven the car for about 80 miles on a mix of urban expressway, parkway, and city streets, when inexplicably the "frunk lid" (or hood) released itself from the fully closed position to the "ajar" position. That is the position that the lid would assume if you pulled the inside release. To open fully, one must manually release the "safety catch," after which it would open fully. As soon as the lid moved from fully closed to slightly open, a warning symbol appeared on the dashboard accompanied by a frenzied warning chime. I was in traffic and stopped as soon as it was safe to do so, about a quarter mile or possibly a half mile ahead. During this time the vehicle seemed sluggish. Just before the stop, my passenger pointed out that the relatively small and discreet "Parking Brake" warning was also illuminated. Right after I stopped, I shut the lid as I normally would, and it stayed shut. Then my attention was drawn to the rear of the car, where light smoke was emanating from the wheels and a "burning rubber" odor was prominent. The brakes had become very hot from my short drive seeking a safe place to stop. I believe it is unsafe to have a vehicle apply the parking brake on its own with no way to release the parking brake without stopping. I believe that if the vehicle had applied the parking brake on its own at speed on an ice- or snow-covered road, or possibly even on a wet road, the rear tires would have locked up, causing the vehicle to enter an uncontrollable spin. I believe that if the vehicle had applied the parking brake on its own on a long downhill mountainous road without a nearby safe stopping location, the extreme heat generated could cause serious damage to the vehicle. The vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by a dealer tomorrow. At the moment it seems to operate normally, but note that itis an electric vehicle, and almost all of the braking activity is performed by regenerative braking and not using mechanical brakes.

LANE DEPARTURE
1 complaint
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE LANE KEEP ASSIST AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED.THE SYSTEM WORKED FINE FOR A WHILE BUT WHEN I TOOK MY EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR A QUICK MINUTE TO GRAB SOMETHING FROM THE BACK SEAT, THE SYSTEM EITHER DISENGAGED WITHOUT A WARANING OR DECIDED TO STEER TO THE LEFT OUTOF THE LANE, BECAUSE IN THAT SHORT TIME, IT MOVED TWO LANES TO THE LEFT AND HIT THE ROAD BARRIER DEPLOYING THE AIRBAGS AND CAUSING INJURIES TO THE PASSENGERS. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THERE WERE NO WARNINGSS BEFORE OR DURING THE INCIDENT TO INDICATE ANY KIND OF ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE HDA SOFTWARE ON THE EV6 IS QUITE BUGGY AS A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS PRIOR WHEN THE CAR RANDOMLY DECIDED TO TAKE AN EVASIVE ACTION TO THE RIGHT WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. IN THAT INSTANCE I WAS HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY EYES ON THE ROAD SO I WAS ABLE TO APPLY IMMEDIATE CORRECTIVE ACTION TO PREVENT A MISHAP

Car audio Amp is a huge problem in the meridian sound system because when it fails all the warning auditable system and chimes are no longer heard. This is unacceptable as you know longer can relay in the safety systems that are in place. They can not make them either as they have no suppliers. No loan a cars either.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE
1 complaint
This vehicle is equipped with Semi Autonomous Driving. While using Semi Autonomous Driving with Navigation and all other Safety Items active, the vehicle swerved out of its lane and side swiped a Semi before driver could react and move vehicle back into lane. Multiple items failed. Semi Autonomous Driving - Lane Assist - Lane Keep - Emergency Breaking - Blind Spot Warning. No warning lights / sounds activated. (We have a video of this happening a 2nd time but we avoided the accident). Damages to car is roughly $14k and luckily it was not worse as loss of life could have happened. KIA has been notified and the claim is 14832390. Current status is they want the dealership to review the vehicle once the Body Work has been fixed. KIA wants to see if they can recreate the incident. Vehicle is still being fixed and expected to be available to me on 8/26/2022. Afterwards, I will provide the vehicle to the Dealership. (Hoping they will not perform updates to fix the problem and inform me they could not reproduce the issue) FYI - I am not able to download the video to this complaint. Your system will not allow my video format. Also, for final damages, the price is higher than attached documents as Collision Center has added to the claim.

We were driving down the road, no vehicles in front or to the side, when our glass moonroof exploded. Sounded like a gun going off inside the car. Immediately we saw glass pour down the back of the car, wind started to erratically shake the sunshade, which thankfully was closed at the time of the event. Loose glass ended up everywhere, even inside the moonroof area. Had the sunshade been opened during the event, we would have been covered in glass and likely crashed. The dealership and manufacturer inspected the glass and refused to agree it was defective. I asked if it was supposed to fall into a thousand sharp pieces even if debris hit it and got no response.
