TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V337000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) IN JULY OF 2015. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GOLDSTEIN MITSUBISHI (613 NEW LOUDON RD, LATHAM, NY 12110, (518) 690-2500) IN APRIL OF 2016 TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A TEMPORARY REMEDY WAS PERFORMED BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERMANENTLY REPAIR THE CORROSION OF THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN 2016. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH OVER A BUMP OR POTHOLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING SINCE THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED TWO MONTHS AGO. THE CONTACT CALLED GOLDSTEIN MITSUBISHI AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THE REPAIRS WERE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE OWNER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY 2008 ECLIPSE HAD AN OPEN RECALL ON ISSUES WITH ABS FOR OVER A YEAR. AFTER A YEAR I WAS FINALLY NOTIFIED THAT THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. AFTER MUCH HASSLE DEALING WITH THE LOCAL DEAL I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR. THE SERVICE CENTER CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER NOW MY CAR IS NO LEAKING BRAKE FLUID FROM THE ABS. I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD I NEED TO TAKE THE CAR TO A SERVICE CENTER TO BE LOOKED AT. NORMALLY NO ISSUE THAT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP RECENTLY CLOSED AND THE NEXT CLOSEST ONE IS OVER 100 MILES AWAY. AS MY CAR IS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID IT HAS BEEN DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A SERVICE CENTER TO BE LOOKED AT BUT THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD BE FIXED. AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ABS SYSTEM AND AN OPEN RECALL THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THEIR CONCERN ON GETTING THE CAR TO BE FIXED AND IT DID NOT MATTER THAT THERE WERE NO SERVICE CENTERS WHERE I LIVED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. AS THIS PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED BY THEM AND HAS THEIR NAME I FIND THIS TOTALLY LAUGHABLE. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS COMPANY HAS NO CONCERNS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AND HAS NO INTENTION OF FIXING AN KNOW ISSUE AS IT IS AN OPEN RECALL.

JULY ,2015 I RECEIVED A RECALL ON MY ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT AND BEFORE I GOT INTO WARRANTY SERVICE. ONE EVENING I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY BRAKES MADE A GRIDDING NOISE AND PUSHED TO FLOOR. I WENT IN IN AND THE BLEED BRAKE AND LET ME GO. AND IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WENT IN TO WARRANTY DEPT.. THEY DID THE SAME TIHING. THEY SAID THEY LOOK FOR LEAKS AND TAKE PICURES AND THAT IT.

The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 MPH and descending an incline on the road, the contact depressed the brake pedal, and the brake pedal went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact used the parking brake to slow down the vehicle. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer because the closest dealer was 2 hours away, and the brakes had failed. The contact was aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V337000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact had called the manufacturer and was advised to find a local independent mechanic, and the manufacturer would ship the parts needed to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer had not included a key computer tool to set the ABS system correctly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed about the lack of support. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THERE WERE WHITE FUMES EMITTING FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AS AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE UNIT BREAKER AND THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED STARTING. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY SO I HAD THAT REPLACED, BUT UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MY STARTER HAD GONE BAD. I HAD THE STARTER REPLACED IN AUGUST OF 2011 (THAT'S TOO SOON FOR A 2008). ON JULY 16, 2012 I HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER BRAND NEW STARTER INSTALLED IN MY ECLIPSE. TWO BRAND NEW STARTERS IN LESS THAN A YEAR IS UNACCEPTABLE AND IT MAKES IT WORSE THAT THE CAR IS A 2008. I FEEL LIKE MITSUBISHI NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS PART. *TR

The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, for unknown reasons, he veered off the road, traveled over a hill, and crashed into a dirt pile. The steering wheel air bag failed to deploy. The contact had previously unplugged, the passenger seat air bag. The air bag and check engine warning lights were illuminated. After the crash, the curtain and driver's seat air bag were deployed. The contact noticed the passenger's side rear tire was low and had a slash in the side wall. The contact sustained whiplash and pain, and medical attention was provided. The vehicle was towed to his residence. There was no reported fire or police report. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided.  The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that while stopped at an intersection with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle accelerated forward inadvertently. The contact had her husband inspect the vehicle and while he attempted to start the vehicle with his foot depressed on the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated forward. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE ECLIPSE, SHE TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET AND THE CAR SPUN OUT OF CONTROL CAUSING HER TO HIT A PARKED CAR. THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE IS SIDEWAYS, I HAVE PICTURES OF THE CAR AFTER THE ACCIDENT. MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR. THE POLICE ARE SAYING SHE WAS AT FAULT FOR THE ACCIDENT. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE VIN NUMBER.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. WHEN I ACCELERATE THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. I CHECKED FLUID AND EVERYTHING. I DROVE IT AGAIN AND HAD TO MAKE NOT EVEN A SUDDEN STOP AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND ALMOST DID NOT STOP.I HAVE READ ALL OVER THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME THING ON THIS SAME MODEL CAR. NOT SURE WHY THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT YET. I HAVE TWO SMALL YOUNG CHILDREN AND AM AFRAID I ONE DAY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP. WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKES THERE IS AN AIR OR WHISTLE SOUND COMING FROM THEM. THE PADS AND ROTORS ARE GOOD AND THE CAR IS A 2008 WITH 88,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS NEVER BEEN HARD DRIVEN.
